I've found myself dreading the trade off of quality for convenience. The G15 may well be the answer to that dilemma. It is not a DSLR, but it can do some pretty amazing things for a point and shoot. It has low light capability, an excellent auto-focus, and the ability to shoot RAW files. All of this in a deceptively small frame. The only complaints I've read so far are that it doesn't have a macro setting on the button at the top of the camera... for me this isn't an issue because if I'm going to do macro I'll probably use the DSLR anyway. Also the view screen is not maneuverable. I have one camera with a view screen that can tilt and twist and I pretty much never tilt or twist it. I knew when I bought it that the screen was fixed and I'm ok with that. If you buy this camera I hope that you are as pleased with it as I am and thanks for taking the time to read my review.

I Love Love this camera.....My husband bought this for me so that i could have a smaller camera to take places. The pictures are great i love the options it has and it's not heavy when i hang it around my neck. I like that i can connect with WI-fi to my I-pad or I-phone and send pictures.I have a canon rebel but sometimes it's too big to take to Disneyland this camera is perfect for stuff like that. The only thing i don't like is where the shutter button is located and the battery dies fast. But the camera charges fast so i keep a plug in my car.

I havent really tried a lot, but up until now works ok. I will need to use it more specially traveling.

The Canon S120 comes close to what I like.I also own the Sony RX100, which has been the champion of point and shoots for me. What I don't like about the RX100 is the 28mm lens, slow f stops when you start to zoom, and the AVCHD codec.What I like about the Canon S120 is the 24mm wide angle lens, the MP4 codec for both 1080/60p and 30p and the amazing dynamic stabilization in video mode.What I don't like about the Canon S120 is the terrible battery life (30 mins on full charge), the slow lens when zooming, and the lack of manual control over aperture/shutter/ISO in video mode. Seriously Canon, why leave that out?

I am not a professional photographer, I am just an average user who wants to take pictures of good moments and want them to be pretty.After several years, I decided to replace my old compact camera, and I cannot be happier with my purchase. The camera is very easy to use, and the pictures are amazing in automatic mode. It also has many advanced functions and controls that I am learning how to use.It is a bit bigger than an average compact camera, but I think it is worth it.

I take two kinds of photographs: Pictures of family, and pictures of bugs.I'm strange like that.The macro setting is perfect for my bug photos, allowing for close-up shots that are crisp and perfectly in-focus. The rest of the camera pictures my family in whatever situation they may be in at the time; my daughter running around in a new toy, my wife making a face at the camera because she hates pictures, positioned family shots or candid.It's light-weight, very durable (my 16-month-old daughter got hold of it and tested the durability for me) and the battery life is fantastic. This is a perfect camera for what I do.

We bought this camera for our daughter to take on a trip to South America, wanted a camera which did not require rechargeable batteries. We found AA size lithium batteries at RS.She arrived home from month long trip yesterday - photos are excellent quality, had some video too. Made it through the month with just the one 8 pack of the lithium batteries and she took over 2200 pics. Hers became the go-to camera for the entire group, people liked the view-finder and found the camera easy to use, so they grabbed it for the quick opportunity shots and whenever they were handing it to someone to take group shot of them. She has some good zoomed in shots, and she tried all the modes, like fish eye and extra vivid, she says that really captured the blues and greens of the water in Galapagos. And even after a month of backpacking, I see a few very minor scuffs but it seems to have held up the the trip very well, lens cover is working fine and intact, view finder screen is fine.Definitely satisfied with this camera, would recommend it for backpacking/travel.

I have owned and loved my Canon G12 for the past two years. When I recently learned of the new G15 I wound up buying it on impulse due to my previous good luck with Canon and the promise of improved performance. Also influencing my decision was the fact that I was about to leave on a fall vacation trip which would provide a great opportunity to test the camera.I could not be happier with the performance of the G15. Here are the features that impress me the most.1. The smaller form factor does make it a bit easier to carry.2. Low light performance is incredible. Even at higher ISO's up to 1600 this camera produces very useable images.3. The image stabilization continues to be excellent and allows good handheld shots to be taken in difficult lighting situations.4. I use the movie function sometimes just to insure that I capture an optimal still image for various events. The new 1080p HD shooting mode and ability to refocus while zooming are real improvements that I find very useful.5. The elimination of the separate ISO control on the top of the camera and the rearrangement of the exposure dial control have been easy to adjust to and have not caused me any difficulty.6. The loss of the moveable rear LCD display has also turned out to be a non-problem. I only used this feature sparingly on the G12 so the larger and sharper (although fixed) LCD on the G15 is actually another improvement for me.A quick comment on the included software. I find the Canon Imagebrowser to be largely worthless for my needs. It has a strange interface from my perspective and takes up a huge amount of disk space. My main need is to edit movies. For this task the freeware program Video Pad is much superior. For RAW image manipulation the Canon Digital Photo Professional software is quite sufficient.The bottom line for me... I think Canon has done a great job of moving the G series along with the new G15. I am extremely pleased with the camera and strongly recommend it for those considering an upgrade.

Just got the camera and it takes high quality pictures.But unless you run an IT department and enjoy spending a hour or more fussing with wifi and computer networks, forget the wifi set up. Very complicated, difficult and time-consuming,Plus Canon was too cheap to include a hook up cable for the camera to your computer. Grrrrrrrrhh.
