This camera has a fast 1.8 lens for low light shooting, a viewer for shooting in bright sunshine and a rugged metal case that reminds me of my Leica build quality for half the price.

This is going to be a Christmas present for my grandson, who likes to go camping with his scout troop. He has already tried this model, and liked it because it runs on batteries, it can't be recharged. There is no way to recharge anything when you're not around any electric outlets!

I am an avid underwater photographer and spent two months going back and forth on this camera and the Sony RX 100. I am SO glad I went with the G15. Not only is the overall investment (housing and camera) nearly half of the other option but the results have been splendid! The 1.8 lens is VERY bright and stays so as you zoom out. Which is great for low light photography (i.e., underwater). I have only taken a few macro shots, but have gotten excellent results every time. This was the big difference to me between this camera and the Sony RX 100. The Sony just can not take a macro shot to saves its life. I spent half an hour in a store with both cameras trying to take macro shots of a quarter. The Canon never struggled, while the Sony took attempt after attempt to finally get a decent shot.Happy to see Canon revive the G series!

I have been shooting Canon DSLR's professionally since 2004 (after a 30 year love affair with Nikon.. which let me down for the last time!)
This little P&S makes great images! If I want the overrides one usually has w/a SLR, I have it..... AV, TV, M, "manual" focus, Fill flash,
Exp comp for both existing light & flash.... LOVE IT!!
Occasionally I do get underexposures w/flash, but if noticed, this prob is easily remedied using the flash+/- feature or perhaps by changing the ISO.
Some of the images I have made w/this camera have been good enough to sell. Videos are as expected... fair at BEST. You'll document fun stuff with
this easily, but don't expect anything hi quality. [Buy a REAL video camera for that.... duh...]
The "articulated" or 'rotating' screen was a MAJOR selling feature for me & I use that with nearly 80-90% of my shots.

OVERALL A GREAT, WELL BUILT, WELL DESIGNED & ENGINEERED CAMERA that I have been using for 5-6 years and love!! I wouldn't trade it for anything.

HOWEVER.......................

If some fool is REALLY trying to get $700+ for this.................. LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!!
Then find another camera for a fraction of the cost!!!!!!!!!!!
THE SELLER MUST BE ON DRUGS OR ON ANOTHER PLANET TO EVEN THINK ABOUT ASKING THAT KIND OF PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way, way better than the lens cap that came with my Cannon Camera. I didn't like the way the strap it came with would have attached to the camera, but I had a different lanyard that I used instead. I love it now. I found the lanyard it came with to be a very poor design - too bad since the cap part is very well designed & made. The lanyard cost it a star.

This was my second digital point and shoot powershot camera.It takes excellent photos on the auto setting but has a variety of other shooting modes to adjust for light, motion, etc and can be used manually. I have had 2 other powershot cameras since; all canon's! Although the pixels and zooms on my newer models are far superior; this camera is still excellent. My husband now uses this as his camera and it takes great shots; even from a nice distance. The main issue with it now is that it doesn't have all the stabilization the new cameras have but in my opinion it is still a worthy camera and if you use a small tripod or a bean bag for balancing you get a great shot.. I love that the view finder can be moved around to get a shot when you are holding the camera up in a crowd or at any other funny angle.If you are a vertically challenged person , it is great to hold the camera over your head and still be able to see what you are shooting! I also like that it works great on 4 AA batteries and has a good battery life. The camera is small, compact and easy to hold. We travel a good deal and it can easily fit into a pocket in a jacket or in a case that straps to your belt. I bought this camera in 2006 and still consider it a very good camera!

Don't know why this one isn't in production now, it's about my favorite camera. The swing display screen is especially handy, when taking photos by holding the camera up above crowds, or to check what is in the photo for the self timer. Has an optical viewfinder, too, an increasingly rarity among digital cameras now, that is essential if you're taking photos out in bright sunshine, at the beach, or where ever.
Takes great photos, too, easy to use, has lots of options, and doesn't eat up AA batteries.
Glad I got another one when I damaged my first one (my fault, not the camera's).

This one has yet to let me down.Pros:Easy to usePortableGreat zoomGood variety of settings and effectsUses AA batteriesCons:A bit heavy for its sizeFlash doesn't automatically come up.Color not as vibrant as DSLRUses AA batteriesOverall a super deal for the price. I am happy.

I am a novice, so I am sure I am not getting the full potential out of this little beauty! Even though I just use "auto" most of the time, my pictures are amazing! Very fast shutter focus (not missing all the shots I was before with my previous camera), great in low light conditions, fantastic zoom. At first, I was concerned because my zoom pictures seemed a little blurry after the shot when I looked on the display screen, but when you review pictures, they are crystal clear! Amazing! I got some really amazing zoom shots without a tripod! Love this camera! Compact and great pictures. I should take the time to REALLY learn how to use all the features!

Actually I love it for the simple fact that it uses batteries I can easily replace and don't have to keep track of a yet ANOTHER charger for a specific battery etc. ad nausium. Looks great and performs great. The LED is a bit sketchy for clarity some of the times but for the most part it's fine. Can't beat the price.

Friend of mine recently asked about the model number of my "go-to" P&S digital camera. When my father was alive, I purchased this model for him as his first digital camera. He was not tech-savvy, and was able to figure out enough of the features to take some really creative photos. I originally opted for this model due to the 10x optical zoom and the 9MP resolution - good enough for your average photobug.

Fast forward 4-5 years later... this thing still rocks.
I've had zero issues using it.
Any delays, etc. mentioned in previous reviews haven't been noticeable enough for me to care.
And, as someone else stated, you can take great pictures using this camera and not even know what you're doing.
Consistently.

I read that review about batteries and thought how bad could it be?Bad.It goes through batteries after a few hours of use.I use the camera a lot throughout a day and the two AA batteries doesn't seem much to replace, but every couple days under heavy usage. It's a bit much.Now I carry around 4 batteries with me all the time. Kind of defeats the purpose of lightweight point and shoot.Hate to think how many batteries I would need if I were to go backpacking a few days with it.Bummer because the camera itself isn't too shabby, I like.I'll pay more attention to reviews about battery life next time.

I had dropped my canon camera while on vacation, damaging the rear screen. I was heartbroken. I loved my canon G10. I quickly bought another, only the G15. It has not disappointed me. The menus have changed a little (creating a learning curve) but the pictures are still great quality. It arrived the next week which was fast!!!

It's October 31st and is not working any more. The seller only gives a 1 month warranty from 5/29 to 6/29. But Cannon gives you a 1 year warranty. So, if you have this camera save all of your paperwork in case you need to send it back to Cannon for a refund or a re-worked camera or monies towards a new camera.Janet B

So on a lark I bought the Canon Powershot N . It is a nifty piece of technology but a great photographic tool. Its small size and ease of use makes it a perfect pocket camera that you will actually carry in your pocket and take out and use!!. I am a professional photographer in New York and have bought several pocket cameras over the years in the hopes that I will carry and use the thing..Finally I have found that camera. I have not been happier with a pocket camera and use it more often than I thought I would. I have to say the semi articulating screen is a definite plus allowing you to shoot from the hip or even lower. And the any way up allows you to shoot above your head and still view the screen. This little camera packs a powerful imaging capability with excellent lens, a mix of wide to telephoto, and the F1.8 to 2.8 aperture which makes low light photography possible. You cannot go wrong with this camera in those instances in which taking a larger DSLR and lens on a trip is not a prudent choice for weight or security reasons. I have had this camera for a few months and have taken several thousand photographs in a variety of light conditions. the images are superb when shooting in raw mode followed by post photo processing. A highly recommend this camera as a travel camera for professional photographers.

Priced the originals and had decided it was better to buy new camera and put the cost of replacement to it. This is a very much cheaper and more than adequate replacement which changed the maths so still have my favourite camera.

This is an excellent camera and is an upgrade on an SX 100 IS that I already have. This one is for my wife! The only unfortunate thing was that outdated info about free extras was lying under "product detais" which caused some friction with both Amazon and the seller. We were very upset. HOWEVER, we were happy with the way it was dealt with, when we expressed our disappointment. The seller was not at fault - but it shows that a careful watch must be kept on these descriptions on Amazon. They need to be corrected / updated / when different sellers come into play. In the end, we are very happy with the camera, the delivery (right day, right place!!!) and the follow-up, once we gave vent to our disappointment. Happy with the resolution of the disappointment. Happy with the seller.

I did read all the reviews before buying this camera so I knew what I was getting. Lots of complaints about the fact there is no SD card with this camera, so I knew I would have to buy one or find one before using this. I agree, that should be in the description. Since the last two cameras I bought had an inexpensive one included, I was a little surprised by that. Maybe that is how Canon keeps the price down.The batteries are also cheap and even though I replaced them with lithium batteries immediately, it really didn't help the slow recharging-the-flash problem. You have to wait several seconds before taking the next picture. Great if all the pictures you take are still life, but it is not a good point and shoot if you want to take a series of action photos. It's nice that they are AA though.

The macro mode on this camera is fantastic! Photos are crisp and clear, and the white balance is spot on. I have not had a chance to test all of the features yet, but the Auto, P, and AV modes produce high quality photos. I look forward to experimenting with other settings. I have had many Canon point-and-shot cameras and I have enjoyed, but this one exceeds my expectations. It has more features and options. I wish it came with the pocket-sized manual that used to come with Canon cameras. I'd pay extra for that. It's on CD, but that's not helpful if your on vacation and have a question.
