Ужасно

Received this blue Canon Powershot E1 Camera and it had a blue vertical line running down the LCD Screen. This was a gift and only blue one they had. As the gift was going to be used immediately, returning the camera was not an option, so kept it and will just have to deal with the blue line. Not a happy customer.

I was so looking forward to using this camera on my short holiday...but it refused to work from the start. I am very surprised that a giant like Canon could allow a dud like this to go onto the market. It has shaken my confidence in their products, and I am wary of ordering again.
On the bright side, the Amazon staff were exemplary, and understood exactly how disappointing it was. They spent literally hours on the phone, to find as solution.

While this is a terrific little camera.. i had formerly used a Cannon Elph and was very pleased with it until the focus 'went' on it. This seemed like a big step up... but a few things. In discreet mode you can't use the ISO adjustment which is rather critical for my needs. That was a big disappointment to me. The manual isn't very clear and doesn't go into enough depth -also it doesn't explain the different acronyms it uses so you don't know what feature they're actually explaining.The zoom isn't as clear as i expected, still blurring at distances- although it's promoted a great deal. It maybe that i just haven't figured out all the tweaks i can use because the manual isn't that clear. But also because i need to use discreet mode for most things- but when you use the AV mode, the ISO feature is a great help!(goes through batteries like popcorn!)

I sent this back. The auto white balance was below average..most shots came out with a yellow hue to them when shot indoors with indoor light sources. Nikons handle white balance on auto much better. For a point and shoot, auto mode should be their strength, not their weakness, with manual controls being a second plus as most point and shoot buyers are going to be your average buyer looking to shoot on auto mode. I was disappointed by this camera.

I ordered this camera a week ago and it came today (free shipping). I wanted it to replace a G10 which was also a good camera, just a little beat up with wear and not working as well as it used to. Before buy this camera I bought another Canon product, the PowerShot SX500IS which I returned after 2 days (to a store) mostly because I hadn't realized it didn't have a view finder.My first (so far only) annoyance with this camera is it didn't come with a memory card at all. Perhaps it said that in the ad, I doubt it. Fortunately, I kept the one from my G10 and that fit fine. While the battery was charging I started to study the camera and was alarmed that I couldn't find the self-timer button. One of the reasons I've bought several Canons in a row is they tend to have the same location or at least the same symbol for the self-timer. However, after a short time I stumbled across the "short cut" button and without being extremely technically smart, I was able to figure out how to set my "short cut" to the self timer which is very wonderful. Sorry I don't remember what other choices there were but it was many. I'm 64, my learning curve is not as fast as it once was but I can read. There are certain kinds of things I let others do for me if they are around. But since my pets don't have thumbs, I managed to set the date, time, country, attach the camera strap by myself.I'm not sure how long the battery took to charge because I left the house for about 1 1/2 hours and it was done when I got back.I have an iMac and the photos transferred well into iPhoto. I've taken about 20 photos, some indoor, some out and so far only used the Auto mode.There was one review which said the feel of the camera was like sandpaper. I guess to some extent that is true but it doesn't seem annoying to me.

I'll keep my review short as other have already done a great job explaining the features and technical specs of the Canon G15. I bought mine to bring on a dive trip. My previous UW camera was a Canon Powershot SD940 IS in a Canon housing which yielded excellent photos and video, but had awful battery life. I knew that the G15 could last several dives in a row on one charge, while providing the trusted Canon quality.Instead of buying the Canon branded UW housing, I went with one from MegaGear (cost a lot less, came with threads for underwater closeup lens). With this housing, two Fantasea Sharp Eye underwater closeup lenses and a Sola Dive Light (800 lumens with hand strap), I was able to take some great shots (uploaded a few as examples of what's possible). The camera performed without any glitches and I'm very happy with my purchase.I also took some photos while on land and was pleased with the quality. I didn't experience any issues with overexposure as mentioned by other reviewers. Overall, the G15 did a splendid job throughout my recent month-long trip to Kuala Lumpur (with 10 days on the side to Indonesia for my dives). I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a solid travel camera and definitely to any amateur underwater photographer wanting to get some good photos without a bulky, expensive kit.

Started using this camera after using beginning type digital no brainer cameras. It's a great solid feel and controls are fairly easy to understand. Manual is well written and it takes excellent pictures with it's wide field of vision as well as macro controls. The auto setting was fine for most of my shots and was very helpful to use when I had to get a shot off quickly and didn't have time to learn the proper way to take a particular shot. My only negative is that the screen resolution/definition on the back of the camera does not really give a good impression of what you actually take. The pictures come out much better then what is shown "live" on the screen when printed out or played back through a proper monitor or big screen. I would comment further, but being a neophyte enthusiast I will stop here so that I don't lead readers astray with my amateur analysis. All in all I really think it is a great step up from what I was used to using and the software provided gives a very easy way to edit all the pictures.

my first real Canon digital camera that functions with a speed and ease of use that I could rely on. Over the years the model has not changed much the quality speed accuracy and ease-of-use have stayed pretty much the same but so have the stats.

It's a little bulky for the pocket but for the zoom to comes with it is also easily held unlike most of the smaller cameras and the very handy for everyday shooting I couldn't choose to part with it all the way so I gave it to my father as an upgrade from his 4 megapixel camera I gave them a few years back.

For it every day walking around the street affordable camera I'd recommend this series of cameras this camera shot at about one photo per second are pretty much every time I hit the trigger makes it a little bit faster than some of the higher-end Canon cameras especially for the time the magnification on the zoom is perfect for it in range photography some of those super zooms are just beyond the cameras capability to keep the image stabilizer and know exactly what you're aiming at or looking for. The only thing I wish for this camera is that they had better low light sensitivity and at least six if not seven models in the series the sensitivity of the ISO has not progressed very much

The price for the camera was great, especially considering how great it was.I bought this canon for my trip to Rome, and it took perfect pictures.Pros:- Being able to switch out the batteries when they died- Small enough to be able to whip it out for a quick picture - not like those monster $350+ cameras- Incredible zoom. The Pope did his weekly Wednesday blessing from a window in the Vatican, he was so high and so far away, I could barley see him. So I took my camera out, zoomed in, and watched him from there. The pictures of him came out great too.- The camera did pretty well with motion shots. A lot of the time I was on top of one of those double-decker buses, and I could still take great pictures of sculptures we passed by.Cons:- did very poorly with nighttime shots / awkward lighting shots. Rome looks beautiful at night, but the camera just couldn't adjust. It has a nice manual mode, where you can adjust the shutter and aperture yourself, but I guess I just couldn't get it right. it also did poorly when I was at the vatican museum, the way the light was.hope this helps. overall a great camera

I purchased this camera because it's just like the SX170 yet less expensive and uses AA batteries. People are complaining about battery life. I purchased some rechargeable lithium Ion batteries and a charger on Amazon and I never have a problem with battery life. I recorded the entire high school play that went for two hours on HD video with one set of batteries. I also used a "10" sandisk SD card for fast response. Camera tracked, stayed in focus and worked very well in relatively low light. Takes great still pics with the zoom and a monopod, too.I would highly recommend this camera as a good point and shoot and manual for the price. Just make sure you use high MAH rechargeable batteries and a fast response SD card. I researched long and hard and this one is the best in it's price range. You want better, spend more.Get Enaloop 2000MaH AA batts with charger and a Transcend, Class 10 SDHC card and you'll be able to take 2 hours of video and take beautiful pictures all day. I'm going to buy another one just as a backup, it is so good.

Like other reviews I read before buying the zoom does not zoom like a small camera zoom. With a small camera zoom you use the zoom to focus, like the Canon Powershot A590 where you have to zoom in really close and it will focus in. With this Canon Powershot SX10is when zooming into writing it does not take much zoom or any zoom at all it focuses right away with out zooming. This camera is made to zoom into objects at a distance like a neighbor doing something they should not be doing or a dog walker who does not pick up after themselves.

To protect my lens I always use a lens hood in addition to a lens cap. It was almost impossible to seat the original Canon lens cap on my Canon Powershot SX10 with the lens hood attached. This aftermarket cap from Camera Hunter is easy to attach and is much more secure....stays on even with rough handling.

Great point and shot! I've gotten some great photographs. The size is perfect for back-pack hiking. My husband bough a smaller camera that just ran out of batteries fast. I have been able to take a week's worth of pictures (over 1,000 pics) without changing the batteries.

Originally I bought this as a replacement for a faulty SX200is (one of the first hi-zoom cameras around). I wasn't expecting much from it, with a 14Mp sensor, I was expecting more noise in the pictures at lower ISO levels than before. A function of squeezing more pixels onto the same size piece of silicon. However I have been pleasantly surprised with the photo quality, and some of the included features. I won't go into huge detail, except to say that in everday use it is superb, and very easy to use at a moments notice for those instant photos you might otherwise miss.

Some pros:- superb 'tracking' feature allowing you to track a subject in focus even when they move about the photo frame; light and quick to start up; large 3" display on the rear; a flash with quite a good range and that doesn't pop up constantly (you have to open it up when wanted); 720p movie recording via a dedicated button on the camera back; the addition of several fun modes including a 'miniature effect' function; a quick acting 12x zoom, and if you reduce the pixel count (e.g. down to 7Mp) that zooms further without loss of quality; standard AA battery usage, not dedicated Lithium-ion, means replacements are easy to find if you're caught out, though this is balanced out by poor battery life on alkalines they are still good for emergency usage.

Some cons:- poor battery life with standard alkaline batteries means you really have to use hi-capacity NiMh rechargables to get a good life span from the camera between changes (I reccommend a minimum 2100mAhr at least); no view finder means you have to rely on the large rear panel (but on the up side it's easy to view in most conditions so far), the loss of the 'panorama stitch assist' function is a big downer for me as I used that one an awful lot.

P.S. Search on eBay for this camera, and if you don't mind a refurbished item direct from Canon (with a full 12mth warranty) you'll pay less than £50 for this excellent little camera. I did.

I debated saving for an entry level DSLR camera or going for a camera like this. I'm someone who has considered getting into photography as a hobby & wanted the right camera that's a step up from a point & shoot. What sold me on this camera over a DSLR is portability. A camera is useless if it stays in the closet. For its size it's very light weight. It would be far more practical for travel pics than a bigger camera.I was a bridesmaid recently & was able to slip this camera into my pocket (apparently bridesmaids dresses are sometimes made with pockets now!) for the wedding reception. I can't imagine lugging around a DSLR there without looking ridiculous. I was able to get some really great photos before the wedding when all the bridesmaids & bride were getting ready & at the reception. Most of the pictures were on auto mode as I wanted to not miss any moments & also to take pics quickly to get out of the way of the paid wedding photographers. Even in auto mode the pictures looked great.If you do not need a camera to take a lot of posed or still pictures, I would definitely recommend this camera over a DSLR for portability, & the picture quality is great.

I bought the older brother: Canon SX170 IS last week. However, I found this one, the Canon SX160 IS, at a local retailer, on closeout. Price I won't disclose but I could not walk away from it.The only minor differences between the 160 and the 170 is that the 160 uses 2 AA batteries and the 170 uses a rechargeable battery. Also, the flash on the 170 is a manual lift while the 160 has a push button release.The 160 is a little slimmer but not by much. The selector turn knob is a little different on the 160 vs. the 170.Either model, well worth the cost. In fact, I would say that they are not charging enough for the 160 or the 170 because the quality, ease of use, and the quality of the pictures are just great.I plan to have mine modified to full spectrum for ghost hunting. Hope this does not change the review. Just realize that the factory warranty is voided but I am okay with that.

The zoom on this camera is pretty good. I'm what you might call an advanced amateur... I T.A.ed a couple photography courses back in college, but I'm no pro. I wanted a little knockaround P&S to keep in my bag when I wasn't carrying my DSLR. Turns out that's not what I wanted at all... at least not this one. It's a bit too noisy for me. If you work only in the bright outdoors, you'll probably like this camera just fine. I imagine it would be great at family snapshots at a theme park, but it's really kind of awful in low-light conditions. If you're spoiled by APS-C-sized sensors like myself, it's just too hard to go back to a dinky little fingernail-sized sensor.I ended up giving this one to my Mom (her old 8mp Canon sub-compact P&S was acting up) and getting myself an EOS-M. A mirrorless, interchangeable lens camera is nowhere near as portable as this guy, but at least I still smile when I see the images.

I love the photo quality when I can get it perfect without my query (moving objects) blurring. Any photographer will tell you that that's a problem when you only get one moment to shoot something. If that's your deal then this camera isn't for you. But my still photo's come out perfect. The image quality is great. The video resolution is even greater. The zoom is superb. If there is something I can't see with the naked eye, sure enough the zoom on this camera will catch it; however, you need a really steady hand or tripod for anything above 16x. All in all, this is a great camera packed with a lot of power, and 16 mp that isn't overexaggerated. Wow! This isn't a DSLR, but I like it anyways.

You might as well use an old sock, to be honest. This comes with a lanyard and carabiner that you're supposed to use to attach the camera to a loop inside the sock, but the carabiner is metal so would scratch the camera to bits if you put it inside the sock. I threw my lanyard away. So, without the lanyard, there is nothing to attach the camera to the sock, and the sock has no other fastening to stop the camera from falling out. Thus, there is no security, so it's only useful for protecting the camera when it's on the shelf but not when travelling.

I can't believe that I'm back again reviewing a Canon powershot - but I am. I saw this one come out, with no intention of buying it, but there was a good price on Amazon, cashback from Canon, and a relative needing a camera, so I couldn't resist passing the old one on and buying the SX150is. It's available in silver and red as options, but I stuck to black.

First of all this is a superzoom camera, which means it has a big range of focal lengths. This gives a body which is slightly bigger than most pocket-sized cameras, but the benefit is the ability to zoom in - and boy can you zoom in! It has a 12x optical zoom and to indicate what that means; I was standing so my shed was filling about a quarter of the screen, and then zoomed in fully and the fairly small shed window filled the screen on the optical zoom, without resorting to the digital zoom. It is the equivalent of 28 mm to 336 mm, for a 35mm camera, which is as much as you are ever likely to want.

Power is provided by AA batteries, which doesn't suit everyone, but it really works for me. We have dozens of high capacity rechargeables, and they are long-lasting, with charged spares always to hand. The original alkalines didn't do very well though, so try to use rechargeables. If you are going to carry them charged for a long time it's also worth getting the long-lasting ones.

The sensor has been upgraded to 14.1 megapixels, from 12 before, which helps in low light, and is all anyone is ever likely to need for everyday family use.
Settings are simple to use, with lots of manual options. I tend to ignore the easy mode and go straight to auto option, which has 31 settings for the camera to choose from. Then you can move to SCN mode, which I generally use for scenery and people. Then there are the programme modes, and finally manual settings.

There are various filter modes, including a miniature scene mode, toy camera mode and colour swap. I rarely use them, but they're useful for a bit of fun. Speaking of fun smart shutter, smile detection takes a photo when it detects someone smiling. It may seem a little gimmicky, but it does actually work, and has improved photos of people - maybe because they know they're stuck there until they smile!

Photo quality is very good, probably an advance on the last one. Because of the large sensor you can blow the photos up quite large, and retain the detail. Canon reckons you can print to A2. I rarely print photos, but like to use the highest quality setting nevertheless. A 4gb memory card holds around 1000 photos at the highest resolution. Even zoomed in the detail is good, with the image stabilisation working to reduce shake. Colours are good, very realistic, although I have sometimes detected a slight yellowish cast indoors.

I have tried the video, and am quite happy with it, but it isn't why I bought the camera, and I'm unlikely to use it very often.

It's worth giving the software a quick shout as well. I like zoombrowser to upload new photos to my computer with very little fuss. Plug in the camera, switch it on and off you go.

So all-in-all this quality of camera, with this range of zoom, with an overwhelming range of manual settings, but very good photos out-of-the box in auto mode, has to be worth 5 stars.

Edit 27-12-11 I've added two photos of Leith Hall to the product description. They are intended to show the range of the zoom, rather than being held up as good photos. They were both taken from the same place, one at the wide-angle setting, and the other fully zoomed in, using the optical zoom only. As you can see it really does have a huge range.

I bought my G15 some 6 months ago…..about 3 months after I bought it the front 'cover' (that closes after one shuts off the camera- protecting front element) stopped working properly and because of this the camera stopped working…I sent camera in for warranty repair and Canon techs said 'sand was found in lens' and therefore they wouldn't fix it under warranty….so they said originally I needed to send them $200 repair but went down to $155.00…..I have been a professional photographer for over 30 years….this, in my opinion, was a ruse to get $$$ - personally I think the 'cover' to the front element is a bad design…and I read someone else here w/a warranty problem w/Canon….this is too bad because I have bought their products for 40 years going back to the '60's…the other gent who had a problem w/Canon was smarter than I and apparently went to AMAZON for a replacement…I should have done that months ago….mgjht try this….bad, bad CANON…..I will try them again and perhaps notify the Attorney General of what Canon seems to be doing to avoid warranty repairs…..MD in Santa Fe, NM

I have had many different cameras. The last one I had was pretty old, but it was wonderful, it was an older model Canon. It was much more bulky and heavier than this one.It did take me a while to get used to the functions and such, but definitely love this camera. The only thing I really didn't like about it, you have to manually pop the flash up. On all my other cameras they have always just been stationary and off set from the top side. All in all, definitely worth the price! Super quick shipping and excellent packaging as well. The camera would not have gotten damaged in transit unless something super heavy smashed it!

I have been using a PowerShot G10 for the past 5 years, but after over 17,000 pictures, this camera was getting long in the tooth. I decided to upgrade to the G15. The G15 is smaller and lighter than the G10 (which was built like a tank), but still has a good solid feel to it. I haven't used the camera enough yet to really comment on some of the newer features, but they do seem good and intuitive. I have taken a series of test shots with it, and I am really pleased with the quality of them, with the same sharpness and excellent colors I had always liked with the G10. So, all in all, this seems to have been a good purchase.

Great Product all packed neatly in a little travel pouch. Have used it a number of times now, will be taking it to Austria later in the Autumn, so will get to use European plug/fitting. I'm more than pleased up to now. A Good Buy!

The newer version of this camera uses a proprietary battery, like most cameras do these days, but this version runs on standard batteries. I had purchased several "gum stick" style batteries for my old camera, and after a while none of them would hold a charge, it was infuriating. Not only did I solve the battery problem, but by buying last years model I saved almost half the price. Operationally the thing works like a dream, It'll do anything you want - it has lots of manual settings if you're the creative type. And the ultra long optical zoom range was what sold me.

Ужасно

Poor quality, the power lead was faulty and the information light on the device is not working. Also the lead was fitted with a 13amp fuse and not suitable for this device. A specialist should have known better. I should have returned it. However to much of a hassle. Lesson learned they should change there name to ZZZ
