I had a Canon PowerShot SD700 IS for the last 6 years or so, along with the waterproof enclosure for it (big bulky thing). I used the camera for lots of hiking and used the underwater case several times snorkeling and it worked extremely well. Unfortunately the camera recently got stolen when someone snatched my wife's purse, and we needed a replacement.I decided the D20 because of my good experience with Canon in the past and because the rugged and waterproof design was appealing to me. My mother who is in town visiting has the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 and I decided to do a side by side comparison. I will upload some comparison shots, but the bottom line is that they perform nearly exactly the same in every way. Video quality, image quality, macro performance, resolution, zoom range, all close enough to make it impossible to tell if a picture was taken with one or the other when viewing them on the computer later.I now think of this camera is as an ELPH 300 with a rugged case. The internalized zoom mechanism may cause some slight image quality degradation, but I could not tell from my side by side testing.If you want a super small point and shoot, get the ELPH 300, if you want a slightly larger point and shoot that can handle a few knocks and is waterproof, get the D20.

I have had all Cannon cameras. This is the best one yet. Good picture quality. Better flash. 16 times optical in a small camera. I still like regular batteries. This camera will meet my needs for quite some time.

I bought to replace the lens cap I lost because it didn't have the leash strap. With this lens cap I don't have to worry about loosing it because the leash strap keeps it attached to the camera.

recently purchased cannon g15 from amazon based on other reviews. I am very satisfiedwith the camera so far. I am a novice compared to other photographers so any fault theyfind doesn't concern me.In the past I purchased sony dslr including nex 5n and to tell the truth I hardly used them.it was a wast of money including the lens. It was beyond me to change lens etc. I shouldhave stayed with the compact cameras. As i'm doing now. I am not selling previous camerasi'll live with it. But anyhow for a senior it fills my needs. I enjoy your reviews , Len

I have been using this camera for about a month now. It takes great pictures with little thought. I wanted a camera I did not have to constantly adjust or fiddle with the buttons and menu. After the initial setup I have to do very little to get a great picture. Love its light weight and portability. I would buy this camera again. Love it.

I have bought this product few years back (not from amazon) and it seem to be working pretty well and after a year of use, it had problems with red eye reduction not working properly, noise in the images - specially in night. And off late the display has gone upside down and the display screen has developed a thumb size patch casuing irritation while reviewing images.
I then talk to Cannon to repair it and they have come back stating that while it is repareable - they are unable to locate the parts in the country.
In all a very bad experience with Canon.
This festive season, i will be looking for non-canon cameras.

Expeditious service, camera in great shape, however, descriptions said came same as packaged when new. There was one connection cord from the camera to the computer missing, that's why not rated 5 star.

Great little camera. I bought this camera to replace mine (same model) after I dropped it one too many times. I take a lot of pictures when I go diving and already had the underwater case for this. This is an older camera, and you can find newer ones with higher resolutions, but underwater cases are not cheap, so I looked specifically for this model. I have taken thousands of pictures with it, and have always been happy with the results. I actually have printed several of these pictures and displayed in my house and office. No, they're not professional quality, but that is because you really need more light when taking pictures this deep and I didn't get the additional strobes that are available. But they are quite nice. The focus is good, it's only the lighting that is off. I also like to take closeup pictures of flowers, butterflies, etc. and again, the quality is impressive. So are any of the "regular" pictures I take around town and when on vacation. It's a 7.1 megapixel camera, but you can't just go by the numbers. To me, it's still better than many other cameras with a higher megapixel. The main thing is that, when I zoom in on my pictures, the quality is still quite good. Even when I have zoomed to get the picture. By the way, I bought two of these.

It does a good job even though it isn't the newest gadget on the block. I prefer it to the newer ones. If you get a chance to get one of these, go for it. You won't be disappointed in the performance.

This camer has proven itself to be an excellent camera for the novice camera bug such as myself. Controls are many, but intuitive which makes life easier. The camera comes with a good manual that clearly explains how to work the camera in simplest terms. The best part is that the anti-shake (for people with very shakey hands like me) works very well giving me a nice sharp picture 99% of the time when zoomed fully out and does a pretty decent job of giving a stable picture when the lens is zoomed in.

You bet! Better lens, better processor, better low-light performance. I enjoyed using the G10, and that fun-factor is still a winner for the G15. I tried the G X1, but I failed to bond with that camera. I loved the image quality, but the G15 is just as sharp, and simpler to use. A good fit.
