This camera takes great pictures, it's easy and intuitive to use BUT the rear command dial is a bit laggy and hit and miss. It doesn't rotate and match up with the different picture styles. Apart from that, no problems

This was my first Canon Camera. I do a lot of night shots. I am aware most cameras are not made to do night shots. However, you can do night shots if you have a good flash. I had no idea Canon has this frustrating very delayed flash. I swear my 12 Megapixel Kodak Easy Share came through on every single flash immediately. I assumed a Canon camera would be better. I got out to do my night shots. I must have tried to take 150 photos. I couldn't tell if the camera was taking them or not. I did not see a flash. Only 6 photos came out of 150! I was used to pointing, shooting and seeing the flash the minute I hit and released the camera button. Taking multiple series of shots. I admit to never using Canon and not reading the instructions. Apparently you have to hold down the camera button, then there is a long delay while the camera tries to find it's focus. So, I feel like I wasted $168, plus shipping. This camera might take amazing daytime shots, but I simply will not work for my night shots. I stupidly threw away the box and can not return the camera or I would. It just won't work for my needs. I wouldn't expect most camera to do night shots with clarity, but I would expect an immediate flash. So this was just so upsetting. I called Canon to ask if they have any cameras that flash immediately? They suggested an SLR model, and said any other Canon Flashes the with the same delay. So I wouldn't even try another Canon. I would have been better off with a 16mp pocket aim and shoot camera. I just ordered the camera a week ago and it's just sitting in the drawer with me questioning what will I use it for? I am not one of those people who complain. I am usually a person who likes everything I buy and never sends anything back. If I would have kept the box ... the SX160 would be on it's way to return. I wish I could get my money back and order the Nikon D3200 24.2 mp SLR.

I purchased this camera several years ago as a "bridge" between a point and click and a DSLR. It has proven itself to be absolutely perfect for that function. I have shown it no mercy, and it has lived up to nearly every challenge. Not great in low-light, but I knew that when I bought it. It has been everywhere I go, in weather extremes, landscapes, portraits, macro, general, live-action, you name it. I was able to zoom in on mountain ranges that were miles away in the Rockies. Amazing camera. Not going to talk tech, there are plenty of people to do that, but I had no problem with the dials and menus. Love the articulating screen. I have never used it to it's full capacity but I never needed to. I have taken some amazing photos with this camera. I am ready to move up now, but I can highly recommend this camera. I rarely write reviews, but I love this camera...

I purshased a Canon Powershot when they were first released. The camera ran through batteries like a child in a candy shop. I was unrelieable and the pictures were substandard. Finally, the camera failed to turn on, for no reason!! I contacted Canon and they refused to back their product!! Heck, they couldn't even fix the problem. I will NEVER do business with Canon because they failed to back a faulty produce. VERY POOR business practice combine with an expensive piece of camera garbage - cuz that's where my camera went after two years of frusterating use!

I've owned a number of Canon point and shoot cameras as well as some other brands. My favorite was the Canon SX110 which I bought in 2008. The best results from a point and shoot camera that I ever owned. Purchased a Canon SX210is which has a higher resolution and a stronger zoom. While more compact than the SX110 series it does not take nearly the quality of pictures. Also, I liked the 2 AA battery set-up of the SX110. The SX160 is nearly identical to the old SX110 so I thought I would by it since Canon deleted the AA battery set up in the newest model. Sure there are smaller point and shoot cameras with more features out there but this take the best pictures of any I've come across short of a DSLR.

I bought my son this camera for Christmas because it was inexpensive, had many good reviews, and used double A batteries. My son liked his camera so much, I bought one for myself and for my husband. If you're just a casual photographer, don't need all the bells and whistles of a fancy camera, and don't want a camera with a rechargeable battery pack, this Canon camera will fit the bill.

Camera easy to use and has very good zoom. Autofocus is great. I used camera on trip to Smoky Mountains last Sept. and got tons of fantastic pics. Would recommend this camera to anyone starting out in digital photography.

I was looking for a camera to replace my Olympus point-and-shoot whose LCD developed a black spot. I was initially inclining towards the Canon SX-500 IS because of the 30x zoom but soon realized I never really used the zoom on my original camera. I decided to go for this one primarily because of the price as I do not consider myself skilled at anything other than taking the occasional pictures when I visit places.Pros:1) 16 MP so clear pictures.2) 16x zoom ( although I dont use it much it is a gud add on to have ).3) The separate video recording button is cool although seems to be on most cams nowadays.4) The various preset modes are also pretty nice to use. I tried my hands at a few although there are a lot more.Cons:1) No li-ion batteries. The original batteries which came with the cam ran out after arnd 50 shots. You can easily purchase rechargable ones but still requires that you carry another charger.2) The night mode is not the most clear.3) At high ISO you see a lot of noise in the picture.4) A lil bulky.All in all a decent point and shoot. The best point in its favor is the price tag.

This allows me to use old Minolta glasses. Very nice and tight fit. The release is very thin and without a flat head so you might want to be careful pushing it.

After a lot of shopping, reading reviews and asking friends, I decided to ignore the bad reviews here on Amazon and order this camera. Out of the box, it seemed okay. It was bigger than I wanted but thought I could live with it. I put the SD card in and snapped a few pics. They were terrible. I took pictures of my daughter in a well lit room. They were very dark and blurry. I flipped up the flash and it took about 30 seconds for it to work. The pic was light and blurry. I tried pics outside and they were blurry too. I never got a good crisp picture in the dozen or so I took. And yes, I am familiar with how a point and shoot works, I was holding the button halfway down so it would focus before snapping the picture but they were always out of focus or dark or both. I found a Nikon at another store for a cheaper price and it takes considerably clearer pictures. This Canon is going back and I will not buy another Canon product again...I have never been more disappointed in a camera.

I absolutely adore my little camera. It feels very solid; the exterior is not a smooth finish, which I actually like. I feel like I get a better grip. The pics are comparable to Canon Rebel DSLRs with similar sensor sizes, although it doesn't come close to full-size sensor DSLRs. This is a great camera for traveling. I've given up on hauling my DSLR to Europe. I can enjoy my trip out whip out this little number when a photo op arises. I have a smaller PowerShot that is super lightweight, but for the few extra ounces, this one wins.

loved the red color of this camera - bought it so we could easily pick out which was ours and it does have some fun effects (fishbowl, sepia, poster effect...) But a little bulky/heavy for travel. Good for our overseas trip as it takes regular batteries so we could just buy more if needed and not have to worry about charging with a converter and all that mess. So good for what I needed it for but wouldn't purchase anything similar in future

This seems to work well and came at 1/3rd of the price I was asked in a local Canon agent in Aqueba.

This camera is nice in that it uses AA batteries, so it'll be easy to change/replace the batteries no matter where I am. On the other hand, it has a slower shutter reaction time than I'm used to. I haven't timed it, but it feels slower than my Canon SX100 IS. (I bought the SX160 because the SX100 videos had poor resolution.) One thing that's definitely unsatisfactory about the SX160 is how long you have to wait for the flash to charge before you can use it. That says something in itself. A built-in flash that has to charge? That's a throwback to the 80s! Makes me think of the old Vivitar camera I grew up with. On top of it all, the camera body feels like cheap plastic. Sadly, except for the video ability, my SX100 has the SX160 totally beat, hands down. I won't be buying cameras in this series anymore.

I have had this camera now for 8 months and I really like it. Built like a tank. It takes very good photos, even in auto mode. Lots of manual exposure/focus options. Can create very nice HDR photos using three-shot bracketing. The only downside for me is the lack of a long telephoto ability. So, it's not a good "birding" camera. However, I have taken some very nice landscape/architectural photos. Since the G16 came out, the G15 is discounted around $100. I have looked at the G16, and can't think of any solid reason to replace the G15 with it. Same lens, same sensor. the G16 apparently has a faster processor, but I've never felt "bogged down" by the G15.

This camera takes killer Videos. Anti-shake device works as if you had this camera on Glide-Cam mount. Awesome. But photos Im not really impressed with. For outside it maybe ok. But indoors its not so good. But old S80 took better pictures. It takes very good pics in dark places where you dont need flash BUT when you put the flash on it takes too long to for the flash to load power to the lamp. You also have to pop the flash up manually everytime (my wife hated that) and when you take pictures in wide angle (24mm focus) edges of pictures long elongated (if you have a face on the edge of your photo - it looks stretched out - I really didnt like that). I took pictures with at wide angle with different cameras and I have never seen this happening on any photos. Battery life is not so great. It is really weird. Battery didnt last me too long on a full charge.

Does what it's supposed to do, looks dull though, but that really doesn't matter if it does the job, which it does

I bought this for my 15 year old to use in her photography class. We are a Canon family so while she looked at other brands, we all felt 'safer' sticking with a Canon. (I had bought a water-resistant Fuji last year and think the photos turn out so-so). She needs to be able to change the various settings (shutter speeds, lighting) and her point-and-shoot pink camera wasn't cutting it. She loves this camera and is able to do more with her photography class assignments.This past weekend, I seemed to misplace my own Canon camera and wanted to take photos at her dance competition so I borrowed her camera (she was dancing, she didn't need it). Luckily, I carry a big ol' handbag as the camera, while lightweight thanks to the plastic case, is rather large. I loved that there's a button specifically to turn on the flash as flash photography isn't allowed. On my own misplaced camera, you have to go to a couple of clicks to turn it off.I took photos from about 100 feet away, in a darkened room, of her dancing on stage. On my camera, the photos would have turned out blurry and dark - basically un-usable. With her Canon, I got great photos and I was using the AUTO setting. I'm sure I could have captured the moving dancers better if I selected one of the 32 settings or even better went into manual mode.Now I'm looking for a replacement camera for myself since I can't find mine and since the camera technology has obviously improved.So why 4 stars and why am I not buying this one? I would like something smaller that 1) I could keep in my jean pocket or a jacket pocket; 2) I don't need all those manual stop features as I don't know how to use them and, 3) this camera takes 2 AA-batteries. I prefer rechargeable ones. We did overcome the latter objection thanks to another review that recommended Sony Eneloops which are rechargeable batteries.

Pretty good adapter for the price.. I am pretty sure it is 100% constructed of metal, no plastic what so ever.. It is on the heavy side though. That being said, if you plan on using a telephoto lens, I would invest know a tripod attacthment for your lens.

The Canon SX 150 is a brilliant camera. It has a macro mode of 1cm so you can get clear close ups of flowers and bugs. The zoom lens is a 12* optical zoom and combined with the digital zoom, it goes up to *48. I took some photos of Megadeth at Brixton and we were right up in the balcony...the photos came out clear, bright and it was if we were standing right by the band.

The longest exposure time is 15 seconds, so night sky photos of stars come out lovely. The minimum shutter speed is 1/2500 of a second, which is good for fast moving shots. There are many fun features, such as miniature mode, fish eye and selective colour.

The Canon SX 150 is a solid, heavy camera and will fit into a deep pocket but a bag would be better for it. It takes AA batteries, which I liked because they are easy to come by and reasonably priced. I took about 50 snaps and a minute of video with the batteries that came with the camera, before they ran out. You do really need rechargeable batteries for a powerful camera like this one.

The only tiny complaint I have is that the Canon SX 150 doesn't come with any internal memory at all, so you can't do anything with it unless you buy an SD card. I already had one from my old camera, so I was OK but this is something to consider when you buy it.

Overall though, this is a really good camera and well worth the price :)

We have now had this camera for over a year, and we're very pleased with the product. We wanted a camera to take with us while hiking that was powerful enough to capture excellent images but not so huge that it required its own bag. This has certain fulfilled our needs. If I remember correctly, several reviewers complained about the battery life. That has not been an issue for us. The camera generally takes very sharp photos, and we rarely use the flash at all (which I think is probably part of the reason why we're not experiencing extreme battery drain). I highly recommend trying out the camera without the flash and only using it when absolutely necessary. My husband likes to take extreme closeups of plant life while we hike, and we have had great results. I would gladly recommend this camera to anyone shopping in this category.

The S110 is a better value, but the improvement in software in the S120 makes an incrementally better photo and video. The wifi connection to my iPad is so complicated I have yet to succeed, but reading the memory card directly in a MacBook Pro is easy and a mini USB cable also works easily.
