Took it to Machu Picchu for our 120km trek through the Peruvian Andes. Great camera, great pics. Unfortunately, I dropped it while in a soft case and it fell right on the lens and bent the lens protector iris. It was still usable if I manually pushed the iris open. When we got back, I sent it back to Canon and they sent me a new one...free. Our Peruvian guide liked it so much and he had no camera, so when we got back. I bought him one and sent it to Peru.

I like this camera for a number of reasons. It's light weight, the pictures are crisp, and color is great. Considering I started out using digital cameras when they had a floppy disk, today's digital cameras are awesome. Cons, it takes a long time (30 sec.) to charge the flash in between pictures. Now, maybe I need to learn how to use the flash in a more efficient manner?? Even for this annoyance, the pictures I take in the slightly dark school gym with this camera defiantly come out better than with any other camera.Price was good as well. And, it works on zoom-in mode better than any other I've used--no fuzziness. So I just need to be patient or learn how to use the flash better.

I've had many of the G series Canon cameras. Some of the automatic features are amazing. If you're interested in macro photography this is not the camera for you.I bought this camera for my wife and it is doing a very good job of serving the purpose.

As a former user of G7 and G9 (bought from Amazon) and lately Lumix ZS20 (bought from Amazon) - all great cameras, I found the G15 a fantastic upgrade. It is as sturdy and well built as my previous two PowerShot models. For a start, the layout of the menus and the functions are more intuitive. I was able to quickly follow up and get to grips with using them. The response time is noticeably faster and the machine quickly focuses on the subject at hand once your hand is on the shutter release. The on camera stitch assist is very effective even though the stitch software is the 2008 version. Good macro function and good focussing under low lighting conditions.I am still trying my hand on it and so far I am satisfied.

I made 1350 photos the first day used this camera, at a car show. (Bought 4 extra batteries, went thru 3.)This is a good camera, I've shot many car shows, and I was able to get a lot of shots I would not have beenable to make with my previous camera (also a Canon.)Sharp photos - hand held, in low light. The image stabilization and fast optics works well.I found the fixed back screen to be no problem. Sometimes it would be nice if the screen could be swung out and moved around, but overall I like the fixed screen because it's a thinner camera, less complex - it works fine. Nice screen too, very fine display. What I like: smallish camera, light weight & nimble, fast optics, fast access to controls, makes good photos. I was able to make 1350 photos in one 9 hour period (working very hard) with very few bad photos.

I got this camera for Christmas from my parents. They ordered it from Amazon the first of December. While on a family trip for spring break, it broke. The lens cover is automated. It has several different parts that retract up into the camera when you turn it on. I have no idea how it happened, but one of the parts came dislodged. It was the only camera I had on my trip so I tried to push it up myself. Now it appears as if the lens may be scratched. The company I purchased it from (through Amazon) will not let me return it. My only option is to send it to Cannon for repair. I can only hope that it will be covered under warranty. I'm very sad that such an expensive camera only lasted 2.5 months.

I own an EOS rebel xt, an powershot A520, and an A1000IS(until it was stolen). Replaced the A100IS w/sx160. The SX160 does not take good pics on auto mode. The slightest movement of the subject comes out blurry, which never happened in former models. I have tried to compensate by using the Tv function and raising the shutter speed, which works fine for a closer subject(~5ft), but for farther away, the shot is too dark. Unlike previous models, this one lacks a detailed printed user manual enclosed. I found the manuals great, small enough to carry in my purse, or throw in my carry-on bag. I am not a pro, and the manual really helped learn all the features and best uses for manual modes. So without a manual, I am having a hard time addressing the blurring problem. On the positive side, the battery life is good and it resets between pics noticeably faster than previous cameras. It seems durable.

The Powershot D20 is a little larger than you might think by looking at the picture. However, it is sturdy and well built and feels like it could take some knocks (obviously since it's a rugged camera). The camera works just any other of Canon's point and shoots. Perhaps one let down the feature set is relatively basic. You don't get a lot of shooting options with the camera or manual control. But otherwise it's very simple to navigate through the settings and find what you need. The LCD is fairly bright on back and the battery life is pretty good. The zoom buttons work fine on the camera. The lens zooms in and out relatively fast. In fact, this camera surprised me with its performance. I had lowered expectations regarding its autofocus speed and shot to shot times, but they almost match my Canon Powershot S100 in that regard. Which isn't to say that it's a really fast camera but most people will find it reasonably fast in most lighting conditions.Image quality is pretty good. And not just for a rugged camera. The lens is sharp and detail capture is decent for a point and shoot. In bright light, the results are very decent. Low-light pictures are not as great, but still okay. But this is pretty normal for this class of camera. Still, if you're mostly uploading to the web or Facebook, you should be pretty happy with the results.I dunked the camera in a stream while hiking for an underwater shot and I had no issues whatsoever afterwards. The camera has a special "underwater mode" you can use to maximize image quality for underwater shots.A great rugged camera, all-in-all. Pictures are on par with regular Powershot cameras, performance is decent, and weatherproofing works as advertised. Highly reccomended!
