This camera was purchased as a birthday gift to replace a 5 MP camera that was starting to have problems. It is easy to use and has the features that I was looking for. The camera it replaced was thinner and flat, which I liked since it easily fit in my pocket. In general, I like it at least as much as the previous camera.

Just what I Wanted ~ This was a replacement to an older version & it has real batteries that you can change.You can be away from electricity and take pics to your hearts content. Excellent product for those quick shots.

I bought this camera for the lens and image quality but I have to say after a week of shooting with this camera I just can't seem to get a high end shot. Maybe it is not made for photographing sunsets or other forms of manual mode type of pictures. I just could not get a good shot of a sunset with this camera over the last few days of having great weather around here. My Panasonic Lumix FZ200 does 10x better and it was a few bucks more. I took photos with my other cameras and got better results. I can't justify keeping around a $450 point and shoot.I really wanted to keep this camera, the build quality is amazing, it is like a brick in your hands which is what i like in a camera, kind of like to feel like it's quality and not plastic.The few pics i took around the house with people came out pretty good but I or the camera kept overexposing the photo, the whites were so bright and I didn't mess with the exposure compensation or anything else. I even tried Intelligent Auto mode and same thing. Weird. I mean the pics were nice but overly bright, nothing some post processing couldn't fix but geez you would think you wouldn't have to edit every pic.ANyway maybe I was doing something wrong with this camera and someone can help me here. Right now it's in the box ready to go back.

This is a great little camera with a fantastic zoom feature. Like all Cannons it runs very well. It does go thru batteries however.

Bought this because it seem to be simple enough for a novice (me) to operate and didn't break the bank.Hope to use it on an upcoming cruise.

The 16X OPTICAL zoom and 16.0 MP are what you expect from Canon, even at this low price - GREAT. Super versatile camera, but much too slow focusing and arriving at exposure solutions to use say, at a wedding, a party, etc.Sharpness is good to Excellent throughout the zoom range. RECOMMENDED TO PHOTOGRAPHERS WITH EXPERIENCE IN HIGH ZOOM LENSES.The high zoom power results in very high minimum F-stops when zoomed out, meaning you have to boost the ISO greatly under moderate light. Also, the camera is not capable (at all) of focusing in low light with high zoom. None of this is surprising given the high lens power and the low price point. If you are looking for a pocket camera for well-lit (outdoor) situations, capturing wildlife, vacation landscapes, and photos of companions in good lighting, this can be a fine camera.

Now i am having the exact same issue where the sound is almost non-existant on all videos. I really wanted to like this camera as the images and features were really cool. I like the 120fps mode in particular - got some unique cool shots.- Lens (wide angle to zoom) is pretty nice.Cons:- A little bulky- Strap attachement is in a bad spot. You have to remove the strap to be able to set the camera flat on a table, and a little werid while holding- Flash seems a little underpowered, but not too much of an issue yet.- Battery life isn't great, especially while using GPS- ** Sound issues on video recording. Note that there is no sound on high speed video modes either.- Menu is a little tricky to find all options, but i am getting pretty good at it after 3 weeks.

***Updated - I am on my second amazon return. The second camera had much better sound quality until i took it in the water. Now i am having the exact same issue where the sound is almost non-existant on all videos. I really wanted to like this camera as the images and features were really cool. Not sure if i just got unlucky or what, but if you get this make sure to test yours out!!!!***I am currently returning my camera for replacement by Amazon, so i will update this if the new unit fixes my issues.Deal Breaker - Sound quality, in particular volume is absolutly terrible. I have to yell into it for it to pick up anything, and it can't consistantly pick up my kids talking even from a couple feet away. Sometimes it works though, which is really frustrating. It could be just a defective unit so If a new one fixes my issues I will update this.Pros:- Image quality is very good- Low light performance, even under water is very good (not quite as good as the non rugged point and shoots, but still very good)- I have tested it down to ~20ft underwater and it held tight. Got some great fish pictures!- Video options are good.
