Великолепно
The controls on the Camera remind me of my old film cameras. They put thing like =-3 stop exposure on the outside of the camera. Other standard film controls are there too and there is an optical finder that zooms with the lens. Feels good in my large hands and all the controls are very accessible to my grip. I like the lens range and Macro capabilities which are easy to use. The lens is good and sharp throughout its range. I will probably get a superzoom compact also just for the tele range but this on is a great pocket camera for all occasions with few compromises for an old film shooter.

This was a gift for my wife. She goes through a camera every two years. Canons have been great. The view screen resolution could be better. So far wife is very pleased with camera.

I am a professional photographer and also an instructor at high schools and colleges.
I bought 20 of these cameras so I can teach high school students about photography and ensure they all have the same camera so I can quickly instruct them and answer questions.
I selected this camera because it is takes good quality pictures (based on my wife's A590 usage) and the fact that it has Aperture, Shutter and Manual exposure modes.
I bought it for her in 2008 for $130 and was able to pick up used ones for around $40 a piece.
One thing I am curious about is why these 5 year old cameras that sold for $139 in 2008 are on sell for $399.
Seems crazy to me.

the battery does not fit "tight" into the body of the charger. making it a little loose. consequently the slightest movement knocks it off being juiced up. also it does not have any indication of when its fully charged up.
after saying that , its cheap and does the job.

Not sure if i just got unlucky or what, but if you get this make sure to test yours out!!!!***I am currently returning my camera for replacement by Amazon, so i will update this if the new unit fixes my issues.Deal Breaker - Sound quality, in particular volume is absolutly terrible. I have to yell into it for it to pick up anything, and it can't consistantly pick up my kids talking even from a couple feet away. Sometimes it works though, which is really frustrating. It could be just a defective unit so If a new one fixes my issues I will update this.Pros:- Image quality is very good- Low light performance, even under water is very good (not quite as good as the non rugged point and shoots, but still very good)- I have tested it down to ~20ft underwater and it held tight. Got some great fish pictures!- Video options are good. I like the 120fps mode in particular - got some unique cool shots.- Lens (wide angle to zoom) is pretty nice.Cons:- A little bulky- Strap attachement is in a bad spot. Not sure if i just got unlucky or what, but if you get this make sure to test yours out!!!!***I am currently returning my camera for replacement by Amazon, so i will update this if the new unit fixes my issues.Deal Breaker - Sound quality, in particular volume is absolutly terrible. I have to yell into it for it to pick up anything, and it can't consistantly pick up my kids talking even from a couple feet away. Sometimes it works though, which is really frustrating. It could be just a defective unit so If a new one fixes my issues I will update this.Pros:- Image quality is very good- Low light performance, even under water is very good (not quite as good as the non rugged point and shoots, but still very good)- I have tested it down to ~20ft underwater and it held tight. Got some great fish pictures!- Video options are good. I like the 120fps mode in particular - got some unique cool shots.- Lens (wide angle to zoom) is pretty nice.Cons:- A little bulky- Strap attachement is in a bad spot. You have to remove the strap to be able to set the camera flat on a table, and a little werid while holding- Flash seems a little underpowered, but not too much of an issue yet.- Battery life isn't great, especially while using GPS- ** Sound issues on video recording. Note that there is no sound on high speed video modes either.- Menu is a little tricky to find all options, but i am getting pretty good at it after 3 weeks.

***Updated - I am on my second amazon return. The second camera had much better sound quality until i took it in the water. Now i am having the exact same issue where the sound is almost non-existant on all videos. I really wanted to like this camera as the images and features were really cool.
