Canon SLRs are great, so I thought their pocket cameras would be also. Fooled me once . . . there's not enough space or time to explain why you shouldn't buy this camera. It was delivered on time, which in hindsight, was really kind of unfortunate . . .

I am loyal to Canon so it is disappointing that I cannot give this camera a better review. There may be many good features on this camera but two issues prompted me to return it. First, it seems to eat through AA batteries pretty quickly. I was only able to take about 40 pictures (most of which used the flash) before I needed to replace the batteries. Second, I had to wait nearly 12-15 seconds between shots while the screen said "charging flash". Try asking your four-year-old to stop opening a Christmas present while the camera recharges the flash. I will be returning this in favor of something else.

A camera like this - was my first digital camera.
I gave it to my daughter - how LOVED it.
When it wore out - she couldn't find one like it any where.
I found this one & she LOVES it.
It doesn't have all the fancy settings of some cameras.
But it takes really excellent pictures - is a nice size and runs on AA batteries.
She has literally taken thousands of pictures with it and it's still going strong.

Bought to replace another Canon Powershot that got broken accidentally. I am very impressed with this camera! It has so many features I have not even really started to "learn" all of them yet! The owners manual, is very lengthy and is only available on line, so be sure to have paper to print it out. It does come with a 30 page manual, but it barely touches on the features of this little gem.

I've had this camera for more than 6 years now, and it's still working fantastically. It is a great camera for beginners, i.e., it has enough manual tricks to satisfy my curiosity of how a camera works. The color sensitivity of the CCD are very natural such that it reflects what the eyes see --- some other CCD may be more sensitive to the blue or red, but the on in this type of camera is just fine to me . The complain I have about this camera is that it does not support memory card that is larger than 2GB.

Though I miss the articulating viewer of the G-11/12, this camera is spunky and takes beautiful shots...scenic, people, etc.It is solidly built, very light and the controls are typical Canon. I have had 5 of the G series cameras, and cannot recommendthem highly enough for the traveler who wants to get those quality shots yet not haul around lots of heavy equipment. I can keep this at my belt line in the little zip cases...readily available for that special picture. This camera is quality all the way.

I have read canon forum after forum about this camera. I got the "Card Locked!" error message even though the card was not actually locked. I found out that there is a contact sensor in the camera where the card goes and if it is out then it tells the camera that the card is locked. If you take a paper clip and press it back in then the message disappears. This was a huge pain in the butt to deal with because it wasn't the card and doing a factory reset on the camera did not work either.

This camera does everything that Canon advertised. It's easy to operate, functional, and takes super pictures in spite of the operator. You can shoot HD video, bursts, single shots, you name it. I really like the ease of functions, handling, weight, etc

Upgrade to Fuji a600 with 1 gig of ds memory wanted. a600 works excelllent. But USB conntects only last limited number of times.a600 purchased in 2006 from best buy for about $200. AA battery powred is requirement. No specialized battery charging camera rejected. SX 160 16is meets expections with 16 gig transcend class 10 sdhc. [Amazon $164] . Canon software loaded properly on three xp laptops but did not on desktop. Why? Investigation in progress. From retired iso 9002 certified windows device driver writer. Good price. I needed an extra camera battery for a trip to remote islands where elec is not always available for charges. Seems to hold charge well.

I love this camera and would recommend it. It's small but easy to handle. The photo quality is great. The settings are easy to use. The only drawback is it EATS batteries.

I have had this camera for years. Really no zoom what so ever. Pictures are graining if you zoom at all. Some times the lense will not fully open. This camera is strictly for beginners. I have really not seen another camera that doesn't take better pictures. For the price you can do better. Also, it seems the reviews for cameras on Amazon are dependent on the level of experience of the users. No way is this a 4.5 Star Camera. I see much better camera's getting lower ratings. Take the ratings with a grain of salt. And stay away from this camera. Cameras have improved since this one was released.

I just got this camera and took about 500 photos since , this is a really good camera, good quality built i couldn't ask for more it has so many customization options for pictures and the picture quality is really good, another fact to mention is that pictures with low light are really good , i totally recommend this camera

the item looked good and arrived earlier than expected. unfortunately it did not fit and it had to be returned to seller. refund was no problem. I only rated it ok,because tit was never used nor do i have any negative feedback.

Last year, I lost my Canon camera lens cap which came with the camera. Naturally I went to Amazon to see if I could replace it. I found a perfect higher quality replacement. A perfect fit, excellent quality and good price too. I'm happy.
