Impressive optics for a compact camera. Takes great pictures in low light conditions without a tripod. I previously owned a G10 that I was very pleased with in good light conditions and that had quite poor performance in low light. G15 is a worthy replacement, plus is a bit thinner and there are several more features on the camera (like HDR etc).

Was great for price. USES BATTERIES, great because you don't have to worry about recharging when off on a trip. Only problem having trouble taking pics when sky in background, the subject turns out dark, am working on that.

This camera is so good, I might buy a second to just bang around with when I don't want to carry my Nikon D7000 full DSLR with me. Takes great shots in all light conditions and very easy to use. Nice features built right in. Overall an amazing camera for the price - you won't be disappointed!

I cried when my 3 year old Canon PowerShot A470 recently stopped working. What do I do now - I loved that camera. I was thrilled to see them still available! I use this camera almost everyday to list items on line for sale and having a good camera is very important. It has some weight to it and feels comfortable in your hand. The macro setting allows for good detailed close-ups. It takes beautiful wildlife photo's too - just yesterday we had 8 turkey come right up to our back deck and thankfully the camera was close! It is very easy to operate and change settings. I also like the different settings such as indoor, sunset, beach, pets, etc. -- they really do make a difference! The only thing I was a little bummed out about was that they had gone up in price. Three years ago I paid $80. The average price for this camera is around $250. (Ouch!) Thankfully I was able to find a new one on Amazon for $140. Now, hopefully this one will last for four years ;)

This is a replacement for my older, larger Canon. I like this camera, but it is taking some getting used to (at 67 change is a little difficult for me). Zoom is fantastic, I take a lot of wildlife shots from a quarter mile or more. I'm very pleased with the results.

This is exactly what I was looking for! A small, easy to use camera that takes GREAT pictures! A few people expressed concern with this camera not taking good action shots but I have not found that to be true. We have two very active puppies which I have got great action photos of. Better than any camera I've ever had! I also love that it uses AA batteries which can be found anywhere that I'm traveling. This camera is absolutely perfect!!!

I've had accidents with my previous ones, not an issue with the manufacturing, but I prefer buying the same model over and over because it's so reliable and the price keeps dropping. I originally paid $500 for a new one in 2006, almost half as much two years ago and abut $100 in 2013. My favorite thing about this camera is how versatile the Manual Mode is.

Diasppointed and it's my own fault - the batteries are standard batteries and not the recahrgeable ones. Had to buy an sd card aswell. I guess that's why it is the price it is.
Picture quality good - it's the niggleing things above which make me think of changing it,
I was on a 3 week holiday and had to change batteries 4 times - even 'so-called' long lasting duracell ones!!

Havng said all this - it is very easy to use despite the huge manual - it's easy to grasp and point and shoot and make vids.

This camera has almost all the features one can find in an SLR, but very portable. As a newbie who is looking to learn, I find this very useful before i can get an SLR.Pros: 1) It has a classical body and you can feel the build quality when you hold it. 2) Fast lens which is step up from a regular point and shoot. 3) The image quality is excellent and it has some cool filters as well. 4) The ability to capture in RAW format is a nice feature. 5) 1080p video capabilities. 6) Well rounded processing software comes with the package.Cons: 1) No cables provided at all. 2) No in camera memory so make sure you buy a high speed SD card with ample memory.overall,it a great camera for the price.

Can not find fault with any aspect of this transaction, the service I received from the seller was superb. A fault was found before dispatch and I was contacted accordingly, I was offer a choice of two other models and I choose the a640 and I am very pleased with it. It is a superb little camera and allows me to take a wide variety of pictures which suit's my need's. I would recommend this seller to anyone interested in a good quality product and excellent service.​

Item was described as being in "good" condition. It was only "fair". It was heavily used with nomenclature worn off the function buttons.
It does take good pictures however, after one figures out which buttons to use.
I will try to sell this camera at a rummage sale.

I am loyal to Canon so it is disappointing that I cannot give this camera a better review. There may be many good features on this camera but two issues prompted me to return it. First, it seems to eat through AA batteries pretty quickly. I was only able to take about 40 pictures (most of which used the flash) before I needed to replace the batteries. Second, I had to wait nearly 12-15 seconds between shots while the screen said "charging flash". Try asking your four-year-old to stop opening a Christmas present while the camera recharges the flash. I will be returning this in favor of something else.

A camera like this - was my first digital camera.
I gave it to my daughter - how LOVED it.
When it wore out - she couldn't find one like it any where.
I found this one & she LOVES it.
It doesn't have all the fancy settings of some cameras.
But it takes really excellent pictures - is a nice size and runs on AA batteries.
She has literally taken thousands of pictures with it and it's still going strong.

Bought to replace another Canon Powershot that got broken accidentally. I am very impressed with this camera! It has so many features I have not even really started to "learn" all of them yet! The owners manual, is very lengthy and is only available on line, so be sure to have paper to print it out. It does come with a 30 page manual, but it barely touches on the features of this little gem.

I've had this camera for more than 6 years now, and it's still working fantastically. It is a great camera for beginners, i.e., it has enough manual tricks to satisfy my curiosity of how a camera works. The color sensitivity of the CCD are very natural such that it reflects what the eyes see --- some other CCD may be more sensitive to the blue or red, but the on in this type of camera is just fine to me . The complain I have about this camera is that it does not support memory card that is larger than 2GB.

Though I miss the articulating viewer of the G-11/12, this camera is spunky and takes beautiful shots...scenic, people, etc.It is solidly built, very light and the controls are typical Canon. I have had 5 of the G series cameras, and cannot recommendthem highly enough for the traveler who wants to get those quality shots yet not haul around lots of heavy equipment. I can keep this at my belt line in the little zip cases...readily available for that special picture. This camera is quality all the way.

I have read canon forum after forum about this camera. I got the "Card Locked!" error message even though the card was not actually locked. I found out that there is a contact sensor in the camera where the card goes and if it is out then it tells the camera that the card is locked. If you take a paper clip and press it back in then the message disappears. This was a huge pain in the butt to deal with because it wasn't the card and doing a factory reset on the camera did not work either.

Upgrade to Fuji a600 with 1 gig of ds memory wanted. a600 works excelllent. But USB conntects only last limited number of times.a600 purchased in 2006 from best buy for about $200. AA battery powred is requirement. No specialized battery charging camera rejected. SX 160 16is meets expections with 16 gig transcend class 10 sdhc. [Amazon $164] . Canon software loaded properly on three xp laptops but did not on desktop. Why? Investigation in progress. From retired iso 9002 certified windows device driver writer. Google' scorpion silhouette named james'
