When I purchased this camera after my Sony Mavica finally started failing on me, I was so disappointed!
The colors are TERRIBLE!... there is a yellowish tint that makes people look sick, specially when taking indoor pictures.
After some time of use, the camera started giving an error "CHANGE THE BATTERIES" and shuts off, even with brand new batteries.
I tried a youtube fix that worked for a few days and now the problem is back again.

Overall I don't think I would recommend this camera.

Works fine. Takes good pictures and has a nice comfortable grip. It uses AA batteries and has a view finder (which is necessary in bright sun). I am very happy with it.

This camera takes excellent pictures and videos. The pictures are sharp and clear and with an f1.8 lens, you have the flexibility to take low-light photos with no flash. Built-in ND filter allows for longer exposures in bright sunlight. I use mostly the Aperture mode, but there are many other options for creativity available. You have the option to shoot in RAW, jpeg or both. The optical viewfinder is very useful when shooting outside in sunlight. This is one of the main selling points of the camera.Far too many digital cameras that purport to be high-end models only have an LCD viewscreen available. If you can't frame what you are shooting, it makes it much harder to take a good quality shot.I also have several full-size DSLR's that I use, but in instances where I know I will walking a lot and don't need the extra zoom, I take the G15.Video quality is also excellent. I shot about an hour of video that edited down to a 10 minute video. Picture quality was almost indistinguishable from a dedicated video camcorder. The only time I noticed any difference is a shot where there is a lot of fast motion. In that case, there was some slight pixelation when I slowed down the video speed. But unless you are shooting fast-motion sports or racing, you won't see any degradation in video quality.I love this camera for it's flexibility. I don't have to carry a heavy DSLR and I don't both a camera and a camcorder on occasions when I shot photos and videos. Not the cheapest camera out there, but well worth the price. --- Also takes standard Canon speedlite flashes that fit on the Canon DSLR's.

It is the camera I expected. I already owned one like this for years and lost it a year ago. And trying other new models later I always was thinking that this one was better. Just note that this camera doesn't support 8GB and higher memory cards. I am not sure about 4GB either. But it works very well with 2GB.
Delivery was very fast, properly packed, all as described.

Flimsy battery door led to premature death of camera. One day it just stopped working. No warning, no errors.

I've never been a very good picture taker. I loved this camera, although it was a little too complicated for me.

Reviews indicated this item was supersceded by a new one, virtually identical but for the use of a proprietary battery to power the SX170. The features of the SX160 were, then, great to begin with. The optics are clean (comparable if not superior to the competitive N____). Ease of operation and responsiveness to commands - and changes in settings - are remarkable. For less money than the 'new & improved' I have a very acceptable camera for this price and features range, and the ability to use the best, and most reliable, power source I choose. Not bad at all!

This camera is great for amateurs and prosumers. I love the incredible depth of field, image stabilization for video, and picture quality. However, recording video on this camera will suck the battery dry in a matter of minutes. If you plan on filming a night out, day at the park, or anything more than a single video, then plan on bringing at least 2 spare batteries. I've noticed that I only get about 10 minutes or less of recording time before the camera battery is completely drained. I hope they fix this in their next model!

It arrived. I installed it into my cameras (I have two). And It works.

There is little that needs to be said past that, but I must meet the minimum length for this review

I really do love this camera. It is simple to operate, it takes pictures that are clear and easily edited as well as upload. I've gotten some good photos, I think, certainly not professional but obtained what my goal had been in taking them. It uses regular AA batteries that don't go flat quickly. It's hardy, I've had it in sand, bumped on sidewalks, dropped while walking and it continues to shine. I'd get this camera again in a heartbeat.

I bought this camera shortly after the G16 came out and the price was significantly reduced. At the reduced price this camera was and is a steal. I have a Canon G11 which I have liked and used for those situations when a large DSLR is not convenient. This camera with its 12 meg sensor and even better controls produces even better results with much lower noise at higher ISO's.I don't miss the articulated LCD screen since I have never used it a lot on the G11. Most of the situations where I use this camera require that I use the eye level viewfinder because of ambient light. And surprisingly the ELV frames the picture pretty well. Without the articulated screen, the camera just fits in my jeans pocket whereas the G11 with the articulated screen is just thick enough not to fit.At the current pricing, I am a real booster for this camera and would highly recommend it as a first camera or as a backup for DSLR shooters.

I have been using this camera for a few months now and am satisfied with its ease of use and quality of the pictures. But after just a few months' use it would not hold my date, time and time zone info so that everytime I powered up the camera I'd have to re-enter the information or do without the date stamp. Because I need the date stamp on my photos I don't opt out of the data entry step. It was quite a pain. I assumed a problem with an internal NiCad.I called Canon's 800 number and was pleased that a support person got right on the phone. Turns out there isn't an internal NiCad but there is a hearing-aid type battery that powers the date memory. The technician told me how to access the battery for replacement - doing so was simple - and then instructed me to replace it. I told him I'd only had the camera a few months and shouldn't be expected to buy what should have been a long-lasting component. I expected him to offer to mail me a replacement battery. Instead he said the batteries are new when placed in the camea in the factory.When I told him I bought the camera new and should not have to replace it so soon he said I could always send the camera back to them for "repair," knowing full well what a hassle that would be. What he should have done was apologize for the inconvenience and offer to send me a replacement battery in the mail.I would suggest if you're camera shopping and trying to decide between this camera and another, all things being equal be sure to factor in my customer service experience when balancing pros from cons.

We finally opened our Brand new Canon Powershot G15, powered up battery, turned it on...and get message on the screen, LENS ERROR, SHUTTING DOWN... this continued multiple times, no idea why, its been sitting in the box, its supposed to be a brand new camera, probably not or damaged in shipping, we contacted PORTABLE GUY, who does business on Amazon, they refused to take return and/or exchange, so Im planning to just ship at my Own cost back to Amazon and either get credit to credit card or a NEW camera in place, will see what happens. In the meantime, I would not suggest Portable Guy as they have not helped in any way.

Excellent affordable Minolta MD/MC to E-mount adapter. I am using this adapter with two Minolta Rokkor MF lenses on the Sony A7R full frame camera, and everything is track sharp from center to corner. Solid built style, too.

Worst. Camera. Ever. Does not have typical settings like landscape, etc. Instead it has only silly filters a la cell phone style - fish bowl, etc. Extra "fun" filters would be great if it could do normal settings too but it doesn't. It also doesn't have a button on the top to take the picture like every other camera under the sun. You have to press down on the lens in a specific spot - the zoom is right on top so you have to be careful. It's something you can adapt to if you will never pass your camera off to another person - which isn't even close to realistic. Somehow this camera was listed on best travel cameras. It is small, so that is nice but there are other small cameras out there. The lack of standard photo settings and the need to give anyone who touches it a full tutorial makes it completely useless - especially for travel. Incredibly annoying. I will be returning this camera - too bad I'm stuck with the memory card I had to purchase as well. My cell phone can take these pictures - why would I want to carry around something else that is actually harder to use?

I bought this camera for my spring break, and man am I glad I did. It has the auto shoot function so even if you are camera challenged (or asking someone to take your picture and maybe not speaking the same language) you'll get an awesome picture 98% of the time (the other 2% accounts of photobombers, those sneaky bastards! or the blink mid picture)It takes AMAZING outdoor pics and excellent indoor pics in 90% of the dim/dark/indoor pictures I took. I highly highly recommend this camera

I got the powershot 160 to replace a powershot 120. I was fairly happy with the 120 except for its lack of wide angle capability. The 160gave me wide angle plus a slightly greater telephoto range. It also has a convenient separate single press button for video shots.It takes good pictures for a relatively inexpensive point and shoot digital camera. My only two complaints are the fact that for some reason Isometimes inadvertently press the power off button instead of the shutter (I never did that with the 120). The other problem is itsvoracious appetite for batteries. I use AA rechargeable NiMH and it really chews through them. Thats probably why Canon came out withthe powershot 170 which is the same except for a proprietary rechargeable battery. (I chose the 160 because I wanted the flexibility of acommon sized, widely available battery).

Needed a small and dependable camera that still used AA batteries for living/traveling in a third world country. Though I have a powerful phone camera, I could not trust others with it as I had to be in many of the shots. This is absolutely what was needed. VERY happy with this; easy to use; great colors; great zoom and small enough to put in your pocket.

I bought this camera long time ago and it was really great at first! As technology advanced, I found it ugly and cheap! But it is a good camera. I gave it to my daughter so she can play it with it!

Best mount if you have older Minolta lenses. I use this on a Sony NEX-VG20 and it's amazing the quality I get.

I was tempted to rate this camera two stars because I felt duped when I discovered that I could not use the camera the way I had intended to, but it's such a good camera otherwise that it gets 4 stars.There are many good reviews of this camera, so I will keep this short and to the point. I photograph mainly in low light conditions and at night. I purchased this camera to have a better quality "always with me" camera than my phone for when I didn't want to drag around a DSLR. For this purpose, and for macro shots, this camera excels. It makes a great, unobtrusive travel camera.High ISO performance is excellent, and images are printable to 1600, which is a big improvement over older G series models. This high ISO performance was the reason I purchased the camera. While it has no bulb setting, I figured that the combination of ISO 800-1600 plus the 15 second maximum exposure would allow me to photograph in most conditions excepting moonlit landscapes. What neither Canon's description nor any of the reviews mention is that once you increase the shutter speed past 1 second, you are locked into 80 ISO! In other words, your exposure should be 2 seconds or longer at 200, 400, 800, 1600? Nope, not going to happen. You are stuck at ISO 80. I understand the image quality degrades with the combination of high ISO and long exposure, but geez Canon, if that's what I want to shoot, let me do it! If you are going to advertise high ISO shooting and 15 second shutter speeds, it would really be nice to know that it's one or the other!I almost returned the camera based on this failing, (which I admit is very specific to my needs) but it performs so well in all other aspects that I decided to keep it. I'm still looking for a compact camera that excels at Night Photography.

This camera was a little more expensive that what I am used to, but it was worth it. The pictures are amazing and it out performs any other camera I've ever had. If I had one thing I would change it would be the zoom. The super zoom cameras are nice to have, but this has normal average zoom capabilities. Occasionally after taking a picture they look blurry on the screen, but when you look at them on the computer they are clear as can be and compete with DSLR camera.

I tried and really liked the Canon S100 and S110. In fact, I got sharper photos from the S110 than from the Sony RX100 when comparing side-by-side, at least in low light. So I was glad to see the S120 go down in price--and purchased it. Photos seem "okay" but are often a little blurry, even after using the flash and a tripod and especially after cropping. At one point, I noticed that the camera was set to "fine" rather than "superfine". Would that account for such a difference? I really did not like the manual flash, but I suppose that resulted from complaints about the automatic pop-up flash from some customers. I will return the S120 and am at a complete loss now as to whether to go back to an older S camera, try the RX100 again although there were some issues with it too, or look at something such as the Fuji XQ1. I refuse to pay the big bucks for the RX100 Mark II. Suggestions that are not derogatory are welcome.

This was a replacement for one of the same model which was recently damaged beyond repair. I have used the Canon A540 for the past six years and have been well satisfied with its performance.
