I purchased the Canon MX882 to use as a document scanner because it had an automatic document feeder (ADF) and was much less expensive than any dedicated scanner I could find with an ADF. Having scanned a few documents now, I am really pleased with the MX882. It will scan a 4 page document using the ADF in single-sided mode in 38 seconds. Approximately 18 seconds of the 38 seconds is warm-up and final processing after the scan. Each page took about 5 seconds so had I scanned 10 pages instead of 4 I'd expect a total time of 68 seconds (38 + 5 x (10-4) = 68). Note that while the ADF works well for "clean" sheets, when I tried to copy sheets that had previously been stapled together with heavy staples the ADF had some difficulties reliably pulling in a single sheet at a time since the staple holes made the sheets stick together. I was pleasantly surprised that by arranging every other sheet upside down in the document (so that the staple holes didn't overlap), the ADF worked well and the final scanned PDF had the correct page orientation due to the "smart" software! The only negative I found is that the provided OCR software does not work well and in my opinion is worthless. So if OCR is important to you I suggest purchasing third party PDF converter software. Microsoft One Note that comes with Office also has excellent OCR capabilities that can be used in lieu of the Canon OCR software.

I bought this printer in September 2011, it is now April 2012. The printer just stopped working. Would not turn on no matter what I did (completely unplugged everything, changed outlets, unplugged it let it sit a day and plugged it back up). Dead as a doornail. I had been fairly pleased up until then as it produced a nice photo and was reasonably fast (thus one star), but any printer that costs over $150 and doesn't last a year isn't worth investing in. Caveat emptor.

For a low cost printer, this delivers bang for the buck. I have printed five color 13x19" prints so far. The color is excellent. To my eye, they are as good as I could get at any professional print shop. The install process was quick and easy with a Windows 7 operating system. It comes with Canon ink that cost about 28.00 for black and 45.00 for color cartridge replacements at Amazon. When the ink gets low, a light on the cartridge will start flashing. After the five high quality prints, the light is not yet flashing. As other reviewers have mentioned, it does not come with a printer cable. I did not need one, I was able to use the cable from a different printer. My excellent results were achieved using Canon photo plus semi gloss paper.I am still curious about how far the color ink will go. With my previous printer, I was able to get 25 to 28 color prints (best quality) 8.5x 11" on one set of color cartridges.

I've no complaints about this printer ... until the ink ran dry. First I want to make it clear that I hardly ever print in color and I rarely use the printer (averaging about once every 2 weeks and never more that 2-3 pages). After about 1 year of this usage pattern, I get an error saying that 3 of the colors ran out. I've no idea how they ran dry, probably just evaporated over time.I thought, no problem, I'll just print in black and white. Well, it doesn't work that way. The printer needs all the color cartridges to have ink to work. Ok, fine, I ordered some new cartridges from Amazon. Then a couple days later (still waiting for my shipment), I tried to scan something, thinking it should work because it doesn't require any ink. Guess what, it doesn't work either. So, this machine is great with all these fancy all-in-one features, but it turns into a gigantic paperweight when the ink runs dry ... or should I say when the ink evaporates on its own.

This printer was very easy to set up, I had to do almost nothing. The prints are much better that I expected, light years beyond what my old Epson was doing. An incredible buy at the Amazon price. It does use lots of ink but most of it seems to go on the paper and that is all I can ask.

I bought this printer a year and half ago based on the good ratings. For my purposes, it has worked fine, although the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) never functioned well with more than one sheet of paper at a time. I just stopped ever trying to use the ADF.About a week ago the printer started giving an error message when I turned it on that the ADF was jammed and needed to be cleared, even though I had not used it in a long time. I couldn't find any help in the manual or online; since it is no longer under warranty, I didn't call Canon. I will call Canon and ask if there is any way to disable the ADF.The only thing I have found to make the printer functional is to repeatedly press the "OK" button for several minutes to clear the imaginary jam, and eventually it works. If that method stops being effective, it will be less expensive to just buy another printer and donate this one to the next electronic waste drive.

I have had the printer for 7 months and now it is completely broken. Both paper uptakes have failed. The lower paper feed failed within two months and the second failed last week. When I reported this problem to Cannon, they kept me on the help line for 40min and then told me that every once and a while they send out faulty units. If you need a printer to be dependable or are afraid of being lucky enough to receive a 'faulty unit' don't get a Cannon.

I had struggled with a poor performing HP all-in-one when the thing just died on me after only 2 1/2 years. That machine was horrid and wasted a great of my time as it looped endlessly instead of printing, scanning or copying. I vowed never to buy another HP printer again and found this beauty through these reviews. I have modest color-printing needs but more intense scanning and copying needs so this printer looked like it would work well. And has it ever done that. I am not very tech savvy but got this thing hooked up in half an hour without a call to tech support. The documentation was very clear and very efficient. I kept expecting to get hung up and calling Canon but never had to. All it's functions are up and running and running very smoothly. The print, copying and scanning functions are very fast and so far flawless without any of that rage-inspiring looping. I have not had the printer long enough to gauge the ink usage so have no comment about that.I had lost faith that an all-in-one could function this effortlessly. At this price the MX 882 is as low a risk investment as I have come across for years.

After being a lifelong HP printer and computer customer, my wife and I finally ventured into unknown territory when we got burned on an HP Officejet J6480. The HP never stayed on the network, wouldn't work well with Windows 7 Machines, and failed to work completely with the released "fix" from HP.Still, we were up in the air between the HP 8500a premium, and this Canon printer. In the end, I am really happy with our purchase. The MX882 connected immediately to our 802.11n network and set itself up without having to be connected to any computer or router. All the controlling was completed through the easy-to-use LCD screen on the printer. The 150-sheet paper tray at the bottom of the printer is nice. My only complaint is that I wish it could've held a little more paper. However, if you're not printing massive volumes, the tray will work just fine.I've had the printer for a few weeks now, and the ink levels all remain high. We print 10-15 pages a week when it's slow, and up to 40 a week when it's more hectic around here. There's been no jams, no issues whatsoever. It has never disconnected from the network or caused any stress at all.I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to break the mold and change printer manufacturers. I haven't sworn off HP completely, but I am 100% ecstatic about my choice with the Canon Pixma MX882!

Bought this to replace a front load HP that constantly jammed, so the rear feed was a major consideration, along with the price & WiFi.Reading several reviews about WiFi connection problems, I was concerned with messing that up. I run Vista on an older Toshiba Satellite (if that matters), and was somewhat confused with the printed directions. However, the install wizard directed me to connect the printer via USB and let Vista recognize and load the driver. The next step found and connected to my secure WiFi. Maybe I just got lucky.I like that it comes with full cartridges, not demo ones. Print quality isn't an issue for me because I regularly use econo mode anyway. It prints good pictures on photo paper - have used it on 4X6 paper for our Epson PictureMate. This being our first WiFi printer and in another room, I find there is some exercise involved in 2 sided printing. But that's not really a bad thing.

I think this is a pretty good printer / copier / scanner. My beef is with the installation. We have a very simple setup: Apple laptop, wireless router, laptop plugged into the printer via USB. It took us (us includes my college student daughter who writes HTML5 for grins) over an hour to get this thing recognized and printing. The installation directions were quite unclear. There are multiple sections of pages and depending on your desired setup, you need to jump around between a number of pages (and operating systems, depending on whether you are PC or MAC). We finally figured it out and got a page to print. Then there was the wireless attempt. The printer never did recognize the access point, despite it being 3 feet away. We manually input the router id and key, but the printer could not see it or connect. That is for another day. I'll only point out that Canon also includes in the box a stand-alone manual titled "network troubleshooting".All in all, very weird and quite complicated. In this day and age, there is no excuse for such a difficult set-up.UPDATE: We've figured out that the printer hookup can be either USB [OR] wireless, but not both. Why don't they make this clear in the setup instructions?

The low cost of this printer and it's performance makes it well worth the purchase. I have only had it for a few days but it was easy to install the print head & cartridges and worked perfectly the first time I tried it. I did contact canon customer support about the type of paper I was using and they answered promptly and the tech I spoke with went the extra mile to help me out.Coupled with the excellent support it is easy to recommend this printer to anyone looking to get into a larger than 8 1/2 x 11 printer. The print quality is outstanding and for a home user is easily more than sufficient.Note: this printer does not come with a USB cable (it uses a regular USB printer cable A/B) so make sure you have one or purchase one. The printer takes up a large amount of physical space when it's paper feeding slide outs (front and rear) are open so be aware you will need more than average space for this printer. There are no connectivity options for this printer other than a USB 2.0 connection so if your looking for wireless or Ethernet this doesn't have them. The Mac however will share this printer on your home network and I suspect windows would also so I don't miss those options.I am using this with a MacBook Pro 2011 with 8 gigs of ram and OSX 10.7 (Lion). Canon has drivers supporting both Lion & Windows 7.

This printer is fine when its wi-fi connection works. However, it consistently loses its connection. At first I thought it was because it was in my office, far from our wi-fi router. So I moved it right next to the router. Still the problem occurs on a regular basis.Usually powering off/on will fix the issue, but its a huge pain. In fact, another problem with this printer is that powering off sometimes takes a while (which probably isn't much of an issue if your wi-fi connection is stable). You get a message that says "Please Wait..." when you press the power button. Sometimes it takes just 10 seconds, sometimes 30, or more.Other than that its fine, but the wi-fi signal loss really means its barely usable. No other wireless products in our house have this issue (and there are quite a few) so I am pretty certain its not an issue with the router.

The packaging is great and keeps the printer nicely protected during shipping. It is a big improvement over my 5+ year old printer. I will list the pros and cons.Pros:-FAST! printing. for me this is really fast. I printed a full 8x11 color picture and printed in less then 5 secs-Wireles printing and scanning-fax. no more having to look around for a local store for faxing documents-separate ink tanks. my old printer had one tank for all colors so if one runs out i had to replace the entire tank.-excellent print and scan quality-there are more but these seemed most importantCons:-there are very few cons i have run into. -glossy black will attract alot of dust -pretty big but not too bigthese are the only cons i have run into from my use so far I will update my review if i run into any problems.

My Canon MX700 printer died last week and I was in a rush to replace it. I purchased a Canon MX410 from Amazon that was defective and I replaced it with this printer. All I can say in addition to all of laudatory comments in the other reviews is that this is just a great printer for both photographs and text. It is not clear in most of the descriptions of this printer that it will both duplex print and scan. If you are using this in a small office or home office the duplex scan is pretty valuable feature since a lot the documents you need to file are two sided. I have not had the machine long enough to know about the ink cost, but for my small office I don't see that as a major issue. The one negative is that Amazon has priced this printer about $30 higher than some of the other major online sources like B&H. I asked them to rebate the difference and they refused, somewhat rudely. So check around before you buy this from Amazon! I was stuck but you don't have to be. Frankly, I was suprised at their failure to do the right thing because I buy an awful lot of stuff from them. Maybe they have become so big that customers, even Prime customers, no longer come first!

This is a great value for the price, With scanner copier and printer functionality all in one, this wireless printer saves you form the hassle of wires and always having to be connected to your printer, now it's as easy as just clicking 'print' wherever you are in the home, or office, and as long as you're in range, it will print.some points of concern: the wireless set up process is quite long and complicated, even for a computer literate person it can be a challenge. luckily there are a couple of videos on the canon help site that walk you through this process. even then, it doesn't have to be this complicated!also the glossy piano black finish looks great, but after a while can become quite a fingerprint magnet.the scanning is good for this type of device, but not spectacular. But at this price its more than i expected. It is efficient, and solid.

I recently had the need for an all-in-one printer/scanner, and although I didn't do extensive research on my options, I did power through a bunch of reviews and comparisons for this printer. I haven't owned a printer in at least 5+ years and never owned a scanner. Most of what I've been scanning and printing are letters and other documents which this printer has met all my expectations in that regard.I wanted to write a review mostly because I've read a lot of misinformation regarding this printer under Mac OS X. I have a new-generation mac mini (with i5 processor) that came with OS X Lion. Installation and setup was a breeze, OS X downloaded the software I needed automatically and there was zero configuration. Just to clarify, you can print via wireless AND you can scan documents via wireless! The application that I use (which I believe was installed with the printer drivers) is called PrinterProxy. From there I can scan documents, select the DPI size, etc.So to summarize: this is a great deal, looks really nice, the top part where you lift to scan documents appears to be solidly built and it's fully integrated with OS X Lion!

This multifuntion was available from Adorama Camera for such a low price in March that I almost bought another for future replacement. Anyway, it's clearly not priced nor designed to be a state of the art machine, but it has performed better than one would expect for an inexpensive unit.My previous multifunction, a much higher-end Canon MP830, prints very nice photos, and had a pretty good quality scanner until it broke. The repair shop estimated about 1-1/2 C notes to repair the mechanism, which to me wasn't worth it for an older unit, so I kept it for the photo printing and bought this one as a general home office machine. The scans aren't quite as detailed, which is OK for what I paid. A standalone scanner at this price wouldn't have been all that much better. For occasional fax and copy needs, it works fine, and for black and white printing it is more than adequate. I have it set to 'fast' quality to save ink, so I haven't tried it with photo paper. There is more noise in this one when scanning or printing, but it's not unreasonable.Just to try it out, I hooked it up with an ethernet cable to the network router that I was already using between the DSL modem and the laptop, and following the instructions carefully was pretty painless and resulted in success without requiring any tricky setup configurations, so that was nice. All in all, I would buy this one again.

YES, and it's reasonably priced, just like my old MP530 I gave to my parents, worked great, never let me down and I learned before that, Canon printers are the best in the industry (at least compared to HP and Epson) with cheap ink available, prints great, why buy a printer that will give you headaches with costs, or clogged heads (all other inkjets basically).2) Wireless (The reason I want a new printer really..) supports wifi N standard, AND WPSK? I have downloaded and reinstalled the latest drivers many times. Since the warrenty on these things is so short lived (6 mo), I am stuck. Canon wants to charge you $36 to communicate with a tech to fix their problems. This printer gets used (when I can diddle it to print) about once per week. We had high hopes for this machine, based on usage of two previous PIXMA products. However, the feeder mechanism is very sensitive and will often reject what seem to us perfectly serviceable sheets. This can make sending lengthy faxes a chore, requiring one to carefully monitor the feeder. It works fine in all other respects though.UPDATE: The feeder has stopped working. So it's back to Costco on the warranty. Honestly, how could they mess up a simple thing like a feeder?

It scans documents and photos very clearly. Very quiet when it is operating. Printing of documents and photos is fine quality for me. I am sure you can get better photo quality with a $200 printer but if you have a budget of around a $100.00, you can't go wrong with this Pixma. Don't really know about the cost of printing over the long run, I don't print loads of stuff so it was not much of a concern to me. I did quite a lot of research before deciding on this unit.

The Canon Pixma MX350 is a multifunction color inkjet device. Here is a summary of features:- Print, scan, copy, fax in black and white or color- Scan, copy and fax can be done using the flatbed or the built-in autofeeder for stacks of paper- Ethernet and 802.11g WiFi- Network scanning, printing and faxing- Memory card and USB stick slots for easy computerless scanning- Free iPhone printing app availablePrint quality is more than adequate on plain paper, although pictures look a little faded -- a problem easily corrected by using photo paper, which results in spectacular images.Operation is extremely intuitive. The control panel is very well organized from left to right: first choose a function, check the parameters on the crisp color LCD screen and adjust if necessary, choose color or black and white on the right, and you're done. On-screen help is provided for all functionsOne disappointment: the description mentions duplex scanning and printing, but my MX350 is incapable of either. It also mentions a paper tray below the printer, but there is only one paper source located in the back of the printer. I suspect this was written and reused for the whole line of printers, but it's misleading. The MX870 costs barely more and besides providing all these great features it also offers individual ink tanks and separate replaceable print heads (the MX350 uses two cartridges with built-in printheads) and higher resolution. The only downside of the MX870 is that it's a little bigger and heavier. In conclusion: an excellent, reliable product with an amazing plethora of great features considering its low price. Two caveats:- The barely more expensive MX870 offers many more features and is well worth the minimal added expense- Like all inkjets, ink refills are expensive leading to a fairly high cost per page compared to a laser, so factor the expected use in your purchase

If you really could use a happy surprise in your life right now and you need a new printer, buy this printer !!My 2 year old Epson R220 Photo Printer started to behave badly recently, just like the 2 Epson R200 series printers I owned previously. The printed pages were smeary with misaligned printing that did not respond to repeated alignment, head cleaning, cartridge replacements and every other time-consuming thing I tried. I was about to hit the button to purchase new cartridges when I remembered reading about this Canon printer on Amazon. I reread some of the largely favorable reviews and decided to order it. I didn't really need an integrated scanner and copier, but for $79.(just about what I'd have spent for new inkjet cartridges), buying this printer seemed like a better decision than risking a continuing struggle with the old Epson. As I unpacked the printer, I was impressed with the high quality finish and the meticulous packaging and taping to protect the printer against shipping damage. Very impressive. The printer is a lot heavier than the previous printer and a bit larger but I guess that can be attributed to the scanner/copier components.I set this up as a wired printer, so I can't comment on the wireless installation process. The wired installation was simple and took about 25 minutes, largely because the CD installation disk took about 10 minutes to install. The software worked perfectly and the printer is amazing. It prints with the quality and speed of a laser printer and it's operation is simple. Click print and before you can count to 3, your page is sitting on the output door. One of the things I love about this printer, is that there is no noisy, annoying 3 minute warm-up of the inkjet cartridge trolley running back and forth. This is a really quiet printer in warm-up and in the printing mode.I want to address the ink usage in response to some of the comments I've read here. Yesterday I printed 200 sheets that each contained a full color photo image and a lot of black type-essentially full pages of text. The printer's color cartridge indicators suggested that the color cartridges were still full while the larger of the 2 black cartridges was down about half. Considering the volume of printing and the outstanding quality of the output, I was very pleased. I would consider this printer ink usage to be described as moderate. In addition, I did the head alignment upon installation which I know from past experience chews up a lot of ink. That doesn't seem to have happened with the Canon. If you need a high quality, affordable inkjet printer, buy this one. You will be amazed at the quality of this printer, its output and it's ease of use. I highly recommend this product !

I have only had this printer for 2 days and I am quite impressed by its quality and performance. I have always been an HP fan, but I had an HP printer that had problems with the document feeder, which would not work all the time. When I looked into getting a new printer, my research revealed that this was a common complaint from HP users, and apparently a problem with many HP printers that has yet to be resolved. I already own a Canon printer/fax/copier/scanner for home use, which has always worked very well and now I purchased the PIXMA MX882 for my office and I am so glad I did. It was easy to set up and works flawlessly so far. When faxing, however, it is quite noisy, so you hear a loud dial tone, ringing, etc., and I am not sure how to disable this, or even if it could be disabled. This is my only complaint, albeit a very small one, and would certainly not deter me from purchasing this printer again. The price is quite reasonable and I would highly recommend this for either home or office use. I have now officially become a fan of Canon printers.

Getting it set up on Wi-Fi was really easy. So easy, that my wife who knows absolutely nothing about computers set it up...on a windows machine that hardly works. The problem is, it doesn't like to see both my Macbook and my Lenovo via the wi-fi. It's one or the other, and if I print wirelessly with my Mac, the printer forgets about the Lenovo, and I have to re-install the software and do the setup again on the Lenovo. Don't know why this is, and I'm not going to take the time to call Canon to have them not be able to figure it out either. I just plug the USB cable from my Macbook into the printer on the rare occasion I actually print from it. The scanning feature is way cool, and the software is easy to use. For the price, this thing performs great, and we are really happy with it. My wife uses it all the time with our kids, printing out things for them. It plows through the ink pretty quickly, but what printer doesn't? It's worth the money, and it looks nice, too, which is a plus. Most printers are ugly, not this one.

This is a nice printer. I had no issues with functioning whatsoever. Unfortunately, the ink is insanely expensive to replace. It's used up very quickly to boot. The cost of replenishing it isn't worth keeping this printer. I donated mine to Goodwill.

After starting off with VX 20 camera which did not do is it intended we decided to buy the HFS 200. I purchased it I made sure to buy the largest memory cards for both slots into a high output batteries. This proved very valuable on Christmas morning, as the family unwrapped presents for three hours, and the days activities. We made it through the entire day in high definition mode with time to spare. Something that never happened with 45 DV tapes. A vast improvement from the 60 min. I use to get out of the Betamax. What brought my attention to this camcorder was the 24P recording. Since it can record a native 24, it occurred to me that I might be able to record films from my collection, finally in high definition. I have modified a number of projectors to do still from recording, but it takes 40 to 60 hours to do one 5 min. real of film.To accomplish the task I had to seriously modify the project to a single shutter. Running the film at 24 frames per second, and the camera at 24P mode, I obtain the exact results I wanted. One frame of film to one frame of video. The menu and the camera is no more complex than any of Sony's I have owned. And when she used the layers it's actually quite easy to maneuver around. One nice feature is that it locks out certain controls when you're the record mode. Two things I find actually difficult are the zoom control in the still frame shutter button. Maybe it's just me but when I go tight I push the button foreword or to the left on this camera and want to pull it as in pulling out of this shot. Well of course it's wired backwards so that out was in and in is out. I guess that proves from film 101, they shouldn't use the zoom while shooting, only to set up your shot.I also find it annoying to have to reach my index finger up to the top press the still frame button. However one of my best recommendations is step up to the next camera with the onboard viewfinder. Or at least by the hood for the LCD screen. Overall though, there's a lot of power in this little camera.

The Canon Pixma MX340 is a terrific home printer and copier, at an amazingly low price. We use it for printing documents and copying documents. We have not used the fax feature, nor do we print photos. It is an ideal home printer for folks who print five or ten pages a day. An office that prints hundreds of pages a day, obviously would want a printer that is faster and that has a lower ink cost, such as a laser printer. The user can adjust both the speed and the quality of output, which provides a method to save ink. The "normal" quality setting looks fine, and prints fast. The "draft" setting is faster, provides a very nice looking draft, and saves a lot of ink. There is also a "high quality" setting for special documents, such as a job resume, that you want to look extra sharp. The MX340 uses just two ink cartridges, one Black, and one Color. The XL size cartridges provide much longer life than the standard cartridges, and the "cost per page" of the XL cartridges is far LESS. If one cartridge is empty, you can continue to print using the other cartridge - a key feature that many printers lack. The MX340 was easy to unpack, as it is fully assembled. Just pop in the ink cartridges and you are ready to set it up. A USB cable is included in the box. However, the set up instructions are TERRIBLE. Try "auto install" and if it works, you don't need the instructions. But, if "auto install" does NOT work..the instructions are very poor.I have 30 years of experience with setting up home printers and have set up several home wireless networks. I was able to get the Canon to work wirelessly with three older 32 bit computers. But, after several days of effort, I was never able to get the Canon to work wirelessly with a new 64 bit computer using Windows 7 for 64 bit computers. I downloaded and installed the 64 bit printer drivers from Canon, but that did not solve the problem. On my 64 bit computer, the Canon prints 20%, 30%, 50%, or 80% of the document and then stops printing. Using wireless, it would print out an entire document less than half the time. So, I hooked up my 64 bit computer to the Canon with a USB cable, and now it prints fine.

The Agony:I've been setting up equipment all my life (and liking it!) and I've got to say this has some of the worst documentation I've ever come across. The printed manual is a joke, leaving out huge blocks of information.I tried following the manual as long as possible, but after reaching a dead end, my best option was to tinker and hope for a friendly user interface. Fat chance.Another reviewer had mentioned disregarding the first 50 pages of the manual and setting up the wireless via the LCD display. That was the best advice I'd had all day. Even so, entering the router password was hardly intuitive, especially with caps, lower case, and special characters involved. Hint: cycle through the character types via the * key.It turns out that the documentation on the installation CD is more complete, though it has more twists and turns than a plate of spaghetti. In Canon's defense, the machine does have a lot of features--but that's still no excuse. Some of the CD contents seems unnecessary, especially for Mac users. At least Canon allows a custom installation and a pretty good explanation of what you are (or aren't) installing.I'm used to scanning from within Photoshop and believe it or not, that is possible. I found a plugin and manually installed it in the appropriate Photoshop folder. It worked.Obviously, Canon won't make any money on this until you go through a few ink cartridges. And judging from the small size of them, finding a reasonable price is a must. If you're considering this machine, remember it locks down functions when the ink is gone AND it uses color ink even when printing / copying in b/w.The Ecstasy:Print quality is simply outstanding, and that's coming from a longtime graphic designer who's very particular about output. My first page was for a final logo design and everything was flawless (on Konica glossy stock). No jaggies at all, even under magnification. The scanner quality was passable and extremely quick (150 dpi color scan 6x4) taking 10-15 seconds. I expect better results once I have a chance to tinker with the software. My wireless network was automatically recognized and integrated once the password entry glitch was overcome. For me, the bottom line of quality and value far outweighs the gruesome setup and ongoing costs.July 12 edit:After recently installing Adobe CS5, I learned that the Canon scanner plugin (and all scanner plugins, for that matter) will not work with Photoshop CS5's Import menu. It has to do with the switch to 64-bit. So now I can either open Photoshop CS3 to scan within PS or use Canon's funky included scanning software. This isn't Canon's fault, but it is something you should know.

It's been roughly a year and this All-In-One is still doing great. It receives moderate home use for the printing of mostly documents or line drawings and the original ink tanks (that's what Canon calls them) lasted until recently. Replacements were a bit pricey with the cost being just over $60 at one of the big office supply retailers for the 4 CYMK regular tanks and 1 large black tank. Installation of the new tanks was a snap.Performance-wise, the machine has been fantastic; printing is pretty speedy as is scanning (much better than the Kodak All-In-One it is replacing). It is used with an older Mac desktop, a Power Macintosh G4 Quicksilver running OS 10.4.9, with no problems. I won't take time to elaborate on all of the features that are listed on the product page or in more expansive reviews. And I can't comment on wireless capability as it is connected to the computer directly but overall it has been a solid, reliable, easy-to-use piece of equipment.

I bought this printer because my existing Brother multifunction printer wouldn't scan documents to my MacBook Air after I installed the Lion operating system. The Canon works very well with Lion. The scanning feature works very well using Image Capture - both flat bed and sheet feed. I am very impressed with the duplex printing; it works amazing well. I would like for it to be easier to access; currently you have to go through several menu selections to turn on duplex printing. Once you get there be sure to check out the ability to indent one side of the document. This is great if you are binding your document -- the part of the page closest to the binding is easy to read if you increase the indentation.Printing pictures works fine and the output is equal to an HP photo printer I had. The fax has worked well the few times I used it, but I cannot fax from my Mac.Setting up the wireless network was very easy and took only a short time to do it. The initial set-up of the printer took a long time, which others have mentioned. Once set-up everything works well. The printer also works well with the two PC's I use.

I bought this printer almost three years ago, and it just died this week. For three years, it was reliable and gave no trouble. You will get low ink warnings very quickly, but the ink will last for dozens--if not hundreds--more pages. The scanning bed works well, although the resolution is not sufficient for any high-grade work.I recommend this printer if all you want is an affordable, reliable printer, without all the bells and whistles.

I finally had to replace my Canon MP780 after many years of trusty (though fairly light) service. I liked the idea of the separate ink tanks and only having to replace the individual colors that run out. This is true again with my new MX882 but the only catch is that these ink cartridges have a chip in the back. Some other reviewers trying to insert similar (chipless) cartriges from older Canon printers may not have realized this and then wondered why it wouldn't print. Before purchasing this unit, I read numerous reviews. Not just here on Amazon, but at several other consumer electronics web sites and the general concensus was that this is one of the best in its class and now that I have one myself, I'm inclined to agree. It's got numerous features that I may never use, but it's good to have in case I have a need some day. Also, this limits my review to those features I have used and I have no complaints on any of those. I'm glad I decided to go with another Canon for my HOME office use! Thanks to another reviewer who mentioned that this can be used both wired (USB cord) and wireless simultaneously. I'll be checking into that as it's a feature I would like to use.

This is one of the worst products I have ever purchased! It worked great until it ran out of ink. It's like an empty ink cartridge, is a self-destruct button for this printer! It starts with the c610 error message. Once you receive this error, start shopping for a new printer.

I was looking for a new printer other than an HP (which I've always been faithful to) but time for a change. My last HP had just become a headache so after looking at the reviews here and other sites I settled with the Cannon. So far working as promised and the setup was so easy! I have heard horror stories about setting up a wifi printer which I was a bit concerned about but not here.Once it found my network and I put in the passkey, that was it! I was printing in no time. Very satisfied with this purchase!

I bought this printer primarily because we have 2 college students and 2 high school students in our home, thus a lot of printing gets done. We previously owned a Lexmark all in one.The Canon is lovely. Although my particular annoyance with all printers is the cost of replacement toner (seriously, we must pay as much for toner each year as we did for the printer itself), the toner for the Canon isn't more than the Lexmark toner was. The Canon, does, however, use ink more quickly than any other printer we've ever had. That's the negative part of the review.I had trouble installing the printer as far as WiFi went, but of course my 23 yo son did it in a minute. (The hazards of old age.) It was, all in all, unpacked and ready to use from our desktop and all 4 of our laptops in about 15 minutes. The printer does a lovely job. Each page is crisp and clear. It also lets you know in plenty of time to order toner from Amazon, which comes in 2 days with our Prime membership. The pages print quickly enough. Certainly as fast as any of the previous printers we've owned. We don't use the fax capability, so I can't speak to that. All in all we're more than satisfied with the Pixma M350. If you just need a basic printer, I think you'll be happy with this one, too.

I've had this printer for 2 years now. We use it at home to print school work or things from the internet. I also use it often for scanning. Occasionally I use it to print photos, but I don't recommend it for photo printing. For everyday printing/scanning it's been fantastic.

I bought this printer to replace a working, but old, HP 1215 photoprinter for which HP refuses to provide a workable Win 7 driver so I decided to try out a Canon. This Canon is a pretty basic machine which is what I wanted, a no-frills, single purpose printer for letters, labels and postcard addressing. It was easy to set up and prints much faster than the old HP. I've tried everything from regular weight paper to Avery mailing labels to heavy post card stock. The printer handled them all easily with no jamming or fouling (something the old HP did frequently, especially with mailing labels). The print quality is better than the old photoprinter, even with photos. I like the sleep option in which you can select a period of time for the printer to shut down, but will start back up automatically if you give a print instruction. A reminder that another reviewer mentioned: it comes without a USB cable so be sure to have one if you buy the printer. Overall, it appears to be a competent, basic printer that is a definite improvement over my older generation previous machine.

I lost the instrucitonal CD before I tried to install this printer, but everying is on their web site anyway.I was confused on why it wouldn't take paper from the feeder, but then read that this unit also has a cassette, and the feed was set to the cassette, not the feeder. Having a cassette will be great if I need to occasionally print on label stock, or letterhead. I won't have to keep loading and unloading paper, I can just change the feeed source from the print menu.I've only printed a dozen pages, but the quality is nice, and the printing is fairly quick, except when the printer is in sleep mode and it has to wake up.Ink cartridges are not available at the local Office Max store.

One of the things I always check before buying a printer is the price of the ink cartridges. At under $10 for a 5 pack of ink cartridges for this printer (less than $2 each), this printer is a bargain compared to many printers whose ink cartridges cost $35. Over the life time of the printer this will save thousands of dollars.I love the scanner. It can scan almost anything, books, stacks of paper, photos, double-sided scanning. It has both a flat bed and a sheet feeder and the hinges on the flat bed are moveable so you can scan thick objects. It's versatile and easy and, if your stack of papers includes pages with portrait and landscape orientation, you can individually rotate the pages in the resulting PDF file. The copier does everything too. It enlarges or shrinks images and copies both text and photos.Adjusting settings is straight forward. The LCD screen is easy to read and the menus and buttons are intuitive.
