Thank you much for the info regarding setting up the printer to use black in only. I just purchased a cannon MX360, and the instructions worked the same.However, on my iMac, I found that ink cartridge settings were in:1. print and fax icon in system preferences2. select options and supplies in the print and fax settings3. go to utility4. click on open printer utility5. at the top where it says "cleaning" scroll down ans select "Ink Cartridge Settings"6. select "Black" onlyNote: The printer and scanner worked immediately after plugging everything in. My iMac recognized it and I could use it within 10 minutes. However, I do not believe the above ink cartridge settings were available until I installed the programs that can with the CD. I can't say for sure because I can't go back to the pre-cd installation to verify. Check to see if you have the option from the above instructions, if not try again after loading the software.So far the printer works good (only had it for 2 days). It is large and heavy, and a bit noisy. I have not used the fax function.

This printer states that it is wireless, but it's only wireless when connected to a router. It will not connect to anything else except by cable. It should state in the description on how it connects in detail.

after my last printer, which lasted me over a year, broke, i bought this one for its affordability. but trust me when i say that someone shouldn't even spend $20 on this printer! because within a few months of using it, it encountered a paper jam problem where it states that there's a jam but there's no actual paper jammed in the printer (and trust me, i've checked!). this cheap printer won't last very long. you're better off spending more money on a printer that will actually work five months later. trust me on that.

I bought this printer yesterday at offtce depot 0nsale for $39.99,it is pretty easy to hook up.Print text and documents are acceptible.If you likr to print a photo,forget it try differeht printer,J tried all the options but it did not work.It turhed out horrible pictures.I returned the printer back to office depot this morning.

The ADF (automatic document feeder) in this unit starts generating errors claiming there is jammed paper when there is no jam. This turns the unit into a paper-weight. I found a work-around though...Canon Pixma MX330, ADF error, Code : 2,103,0Here's what I found. There were no stuck gears or pieces of plastic caught anywhere.The sucker can still feed paper, except for (consistently) the last page -->error/stuck.1) In order to CLEAR THE ERROR you need to do two things a) & b):a) Press OK, WITH THE HOOD OPEN, with a piece of paper loaded in the ADF,being careful to grab the paper manually as it comes out of the bottom ofthe hood.b) Windex the hell out of the strip of glass surface which sits under the ADF next to the platen. This needs to be done with a bright LED flashlight, since ink smudges off of documents and collects on the glass with alarming frequency. The machine may think these smudges are caught paper.2) In oder to SCAN, add a blank sheet to the bottom of your document. This page will be the one that fails to clear the ADF, generates an error, and must be manually cleared before the next job. The rest of your pages will have already scanned.Other than that, It's a great little machine.

I had high hopes for this Canon Pixma MX882, but so far it has let me down.Fax pages pull through slightly crooked when a full size 8 1/2 x 11, and very crooked when mixing smaller pages such as hotel receipts and full sized pages for expense reports. Scans are crooked also.I tried to fax two business cards for taxi receipts inside a AccuFax document carrier page meant for this process (and it worked fine on other fax machines), but the Cannon MX882 jammed and could not handle it.More fun? I copied the business cards using the platelet, then tried to fax the copy. The MX882 software insisted on faxing what was no longer on the platelet as I was trying to use the top feeder. I had to reset everything to get the MX882 to use the top feeder. No other way to reset it with any button I could find to show the fax what input to use.Another software issue is the automatic scan function. It never works without the computer asking to confirm what software to use. Therefore it is a two step process always, not exactly automatic.Jams, crooked pages, buggy software. I really hope it doesn't make it to total piece of junk status. What amazes me is this is the latest (as of 04/02/11) piece Canon has to offer. Hey Canon, is this all you got??

Arrived quickly well protected and packed. Lots of orange safety tape tabs on lots of spots on the printer itself. What could have been a simple operation of inserting the ink cartridge carrier was confusing because of the "easy to understand pictographs" explaining what to do. It really was easy to do. The "helpful" instructions made it needlessly complex.I ignored hard copy installation instructions (I'm a guy, it's against the guy union rules to read instructions, what can I say) Followed prompts as per printer display screen. Instructions claim you must manually disable wireless connection at the physical printer controls to print over the wired network: pick either wired or wireless printing not both. ARRGH! I have 3 desktop machines in my home wired network and 2 laptops plus my iPhone in my wireless network. In spite of what other reviewers said and what the installation instructions claim this printer works perfectly on both wired and wireless networks run from the same router without manually switching print modes (Netgear switchboxes and Linksys WRT54GL wireless router WEP security)perfectly. I installed the Iphone app: Canon Easy Photo Print on my iPhone 3GS and can now print photos wirelesly from my phone. I'm pirnting from my wired desktop, my daughter and wife print from their wireless laptops.PRO'S: Installation was easy using WinXP Pro SP3 printer control panel. Prints clean quick nice looking output. Works simultaneously from the wired network and the wireless network. Copies look great. None of the special Canon software supplied seemed necessary to use as printer or copier.CON'S: Installation software on CD is glitchy and ultimately failed to complete. Canon's own claims about what the MP560 can do seem wrong. Printed instructions that came with printer insist you must switch from wired to wireless mode. This was not true for me. Be prepared to spend a little time working through the install process, it was manageable but not smooth. Canon installation software crashed every time I ran it and never did admit to finding the printer wirelessly. After multiple tries I gave up and detected the wireless printer from Windows which worked perfectly. After rebooting Windows Canon software showed up as installed and has worked great ever since.Conclusion: I'm very happy. I like the MP560, prints great for average home use, both wirelessly and wired. I only tried the scanner in copy mode and it was easy to use, made great copies. Be prepared for a bit of a project using the installation software which is glitchy. Setup and installation instructions are poor. If you can set up your own wireless network at home getting this printer to work will be a breeze. If WEP encryption sounds like a Cold War spy story and you're pretty sure you have a router but not sure what it does do not buy this printer, Get something with better installation software.

Was my first exposure to Canon printers. Very impressed. Even upgraded my office computer to a 882. The 560 prints beautifully. Quiet. We use as a central computer for the family via Wifi.

I got this printer a couple weeks ago, and so far it has been great. It has a great feature set. One of the main things that I love about this machine is the duplex auto document feeder for scanning. I do a lot of scanning to avoid keeping paper around and having this feature is fantastic. The ADF works very well - so far, I have not had any pages stick together. I previously had a HP c6180 and that pile of garbage would suck in 3 pages at a time more often than not.This printer also has nice looks. For example, there is a soft close door that covers up where prints come out. When you start a print job, it automatically opens up slowly. You do have to manually shut it though.Overall, great printer. Canon did well on this one.

I chose this printer for several reasons:1. Good price for the features offered.2. Inks weren't horrifyingly expensive . . . just painfully so.3. Duplex printing4. Reasonably sleek & compact.5. Wireless networking.Things worked really well for just over a year. A month or two ago, the wireless connection kept failing (the printer would connect, and show a ready status, but wouldn't print due to communication errors; usually a power down & back up did the trick). And, a week or so ago, something inside failed, and it's bricked. (As in, good for nothing but a doorstop.) Won't power on (regardless of which outlet I use), with only a steady yellow LED when plugged in. The steady LED shows the power supply still works (I've reset that with a disconnect & reconnect, too), so something else inside failed.At about $100/year, this printer just isn't making the cut. I'm sad, because I really liked using it while it worked. It's time to upgrade in a big way to something that will last a lot longer than this one did.

I bought this because my much older Canon 2000 was starting to make some noise and wasn't wireless. This thing makes even more noise and generally does not connect to my wireless laptop when I'm in another room. It has turned out not to be anywhere near worth the purchase.

Lots & lots of pricey ink very quickly used with your low cost printerCanon PIXMA MP495 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One (4499B026); some small software problems with Windows 7. Also, my other Canon printers didn't send out notices, just held my printing until I got a stack & then printed them in order; not so with this one. But I only paid $30 for the printer so how much could I complain.

This is my second Canon printer. I previously owned the MP520 which is still going strong at a friend's house.This new printer is faster & has the wireless feature which we really like. We have this new printer out of the way in a closet since there are no wires to connect to the computer. Setup was simple and the print quality is excellent. Make sure you follow instructions for setup and that you have the correct settings checked on your computer for top quality prints when printing photos.This printer has 2 ink cartridges vs. my old version that had 5 cartridges. There is good & bad with this setup. The good is that you only need 2 cartridges. The bad is that you will need to replace the whole color cartridge when ink is low; with the 5 cartridge system you can replace just the ink color that was low.The "XL" cartridges have more ink in them for less money per ml.PG-210XL (black) & CL-211XL (color)Canon PG-210XL Cartridge (Black) in Retail PackagingCanon CL-211 XL Cartridge (Color)UPDATE 2/2012: This printer is still working like new.

We received the Canon MP560 using a rebate with our new iMac. I was a bit reluctant because this is a lower priced printer, but we really wanted to go with a wireless set-up. I've been pleasantly surprised ever since. This is a huge improvement over our previous (and expensive) Epson printer.Setting it up was a snap. I made sure to research reviews and forums before attempting it, and armed with that knowledge knew exactly what to do to be sure it worked the first time. I followed the instructions in the manual exactly in setting up the wi-fi connection, which was seamless. When installing the software on the computer with the CD I chose to only install the drivers I needed. I already have photo software and didn't want to junk up my new computer with unnecessary programs. After the drivers were installed I went to the systems preference folder of my iMac under "Print and Fax". I clicked on the plus sign to add printers and immediately the scanner was detected. After 15 seconds or so the printer also appeared. I highlighted each and clicked to add. That was it. The software installation will search for them also, but I just clicked cancel and the installation proceeded from there for a few steps to finish. I installed the drivers in the same way on my MacBook Pro, which was just as painless.The ease of use and quality of printing is excellent. The wi-fi works anywhere in my house I happen to be with my laptop. The photos I've printed are flawless and colors are true to the screen view. I like that there is a choice between bordered or borderless photos. Separate paper trays for regular printing and photo paper means I don't have to constantly be switching one for the other, which is great when I'm two floors away with my laptop.I highly recommend this printer for both cost, convenience and quality.

bought one on black Friday to print papers and a picture every so often. it was having trouble out of the box so i returned it and the next one had the exact same problem, it wont feed the paper correctly and jams nearly every time i try to use it.

I got this for the wireless printing & the scanner. Right when I lifted it out of its box, I realized I had made a mistake. It felt very cheaply made. I was definitely expecting it to break in the near future.The wireless printing was such a pain to set up (not sure if this had to do with the fact that I was using a mac) that I ended up returning it instead of wasting more time figuring it out. This is why I rated the software low; the initial setup was easy, however the included desktop troubleshooting software was useless, as it led me to "this problem cannot be fixed" via the troubleshooting booklet.I never used the scanner, so perhaps that was its redeeming quality. Oh well.

I purchased this printer to replace an old HP all-in-one printer. Performs as expected. Printing quality is much better than my outdated HP. Images print smoother without the annoying horizontal lines that my old printer would produce. Wireless feature was very easy to set up and works well. The tiny LCD screen doesn't get much use because we edit our photos using the computer monitor and software before printing.I prefer my old HP editing software than what came with the Canon. Maybe it's just my personal preference, but I don't think the canon editing software is as user-friendly or feature-filled as it should be, but it will get the job done.The separate ink cartridges are a nice feature, also having the ability to track ink levels. Although we may have only printed about 50 sheets of paper, our main ink cartridge is already showing 50% ink remaining. I kind of expected the ink to last a while longer, but for the small cartridge size and the small price to replace only the black cartridge, overall you won't get soaked on ink replacement.Scanned images are exceptional. No complaints.The only thing I don't like about the printer is that it occasionally cycles what I believe is a cartridge cleaning procedure. Sometimes I want to print a page quickly and run out the door, but on rare occasions, the printer will make some mechanical noises as it cleans the head perhaps, taking maybe an addition 30-45 seconds before it prints the page. Not a big deal, as the procedure doesn't occur often, but just something to be aware of. I also leave the printer powered on as I've read another review stating that this cleaning procedure happens each time the printer is turned on. Guess I'm just trying to save every last penny of ink (although it's probably a wash when the electricity bill is factored in).Overall, great printer!

I bought this printer just for printing small documents, and from the two days I used this product it was a mess. First of all, when I received the printer it was a total mess, the packaging was smashed up, the front of the printer was broken, and half the accessories were missing. Lucky me I was still able to set up the printer, and get it working. Now to focus on the the actual printer, it's just plain horrible. This thing will eat so much ink you'll be broke in a week, and to top that off most of the documents I tried printing came out with black spots. This printer makes a ridiculous amount of noise that it literally hurts my ears. I just want to finish this review by saying IT'S A DEATH TRAP. The printer is unreliable, useless, and just not a smart buy. The product may be cheap, but in the long run you will waste more money buying ink than actually printing your work. I am very disappointed with canon, I've been a long time customer but after this experience I will not be buying anymore canon products.

I have to admit that I had expected a lot more from this printer, but it turns out that it disappointed me a lot more than I had expected. Basically, the original ink coming with the printer just won't stop fine after 3 months--everything I print out was in red. I tried every mean I can to solve the problem but just got no luck. I even tried to contact the amazon CSR and return the machine. Unfortunately, I was told that I had to contact with Dell directly for returning and replacing the printer. I ended up with keeping the printer and getting new inks for it. And it seems that the printing quality is way much better now with the non-original inks. Isn't it just ironic?

It was shipped fast, looks great, simple to set up and very easy to use.I have had it for two months now and have not needed to change out the ink cartridges yet. Both the black and color cartridges are at about 25% now.Software is very user friendly, it helps you print, scan and copy in a jiffy. The only reason I gave it four stars is because sometimes when you need to upload scanned images or documents that are large in size the software does not make it easy for your edit file size or image resolution.Besides that I love it and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

This printer was easy to set up, hasn't ever jammed (I've had it 8 months), and prints very high quality documents. I haven't used it for photos, but for b&w or color documents, it has been flawless. The ink cartridges don't last as long as my last printer's, though, and they are expensive to replace.

It took about 10 days since i ordered it. I don't complain because shipping was for free. Haha.The box was very fit to the printer, so i didn't get any damage while shipping which is good. :]Also, the process of installing it was not hard. It was actually very simple. Since i have a netbook, i don't have a cd-rom, but if you go to the canon website, you can get the driver and other software online.It's a bit loud for me, but compare to the price i can't bear it.I recommend this printer unless you want super duper nice printer. It's an average, good printer for students or people who use . :)

This the second All in One that I've owned. The first one was a Lexmark that was bundled with my Dell (purchased about 10 years ago). The Lexmark did fine for scanning but it drank ink and when it wasn't printing it was clogging the print head so I had to unbox the old HP printer I had to be able to keep printing. So obviously I was happy with the setup for a number of years but my HP was finally beginning to die so it was time to buy something new. Because I had gone so many years, I wasn't sure what to expect for ink usage. My parents had just recently bought a Canon MP560 and were very happy with it so I thought it made sense to get especially given the price during the Black Friday sales.Setup was a breeze. The software setup also was no issue. We've now been using the printer for a month and have also scanned several things. I've also used it as a copier. So far I have been very happy with the performance. The controls through the software are simple and the controls on the printer itself are pretty intuitive so I've been able to navigate settings, etc. without issue. Ink usage appears to be very good. Scan quality is excellent. Print speed is fast (one note: if you just turned on the unit then the first print job will take a little longer as the printer performs what I assume is calibration and system check).The only thing that I would say that I don't like is that the default software installation adds seven icons to your desktop and I'm desktop icon minimalist so that was a little annoying.

Printer was easy to setup and FAR out performs my lexmark (which I will not buy again). Was also my first Wi-Fi printer, so ECSTATIC doesn't even begin to explain how I felt after easily printing documents from 3 unconnected computers around the house!

THE BADI've had this printer for several months. I have gotten it to print a few times from my Mac when I first set it up; but, since then, I continually get "communication error" in the print application when I try to print. Restarting the machine, the mac and other remedies I've found through google do not work.THE GOODWorks great with my PC. I occasionally get "communication error" but restarting the printer fixes it.Giving this 2 stars as it gets a 0 for MAC and a "mostly great" for PC.

I really like this printer because it was easy to set up, and its so quiet and efficient. The other thing I really like is that it doesnt use a ton of ink when you are printing. The ink seems to stay longer than in my last printer. The photos it prints are awesome, and the scanner is really quick and quiet. The only thing I dont like about the printer is that you have a lot of choices to make on the keypad. For example, when scanning, you have to leave your desk, hit a button or two on the printer, and then receive the scan on the computer. Overall, this isnt a terrible "con", and overall the printer has been great. I love the Cannon brand and this is a typical Cannon product - easy to use, good function and reliable.

I think this printer is what I was looking for, I do think the ink is expensive and wish it would last a little longer. I did get just under 200 4X6 photos from my cruise printed and had to start replacing the ink. Over all I work recommend it for anyone who wants a print only machine.

I bought this as I recently moved and knew I'd be needing to scan some documents soon. Didn't need faxing capabilities as I don't have a landline anymore anyway, so it was perfect. Setup was extremely easy, other than needing to download the drivers because the pc wouldn't read the disc (I think it's a problem with the drive vs. the disk itself). The Easy WebPrint is a great feature and really simple to use--I just wish it worked with other browsers and not just IE. The copies come out really clear and crisp, and scans have been good quality but I just can't figure out why they always come out at a slight angle even though when I check on the original it's perfectly lined up in the edges/corner.NOTE: If you don't have a program that is able to scan documents running (i.e. Adobe Acrobat), hitting the scan button will just cause it to make a copy instead. I usually just choose scan to pdf from within the program. Also would've been nice if the disc had come with its own software for scanning, but I got lucky with my SO already having Acrobat.

I had the unit less than a year and its already unusable. It has a paper jam error that won't clear. I contacted Canon support however all there troubleshooting recommendations I've already done. Otherwise its a good printer. Canon is sending me a refurbished MX410 as a replacement at no charge.

We have had this printer for awhile now and it's starting to need ink replacement. The tanks are much smaller than the MP750 but they seem to have lasted as long. I haven't tried oem ink yet; still debating that since I used to refill my own. These tanks have chips and I don't need the extra hassle. The print driver is OK but the scanner s/w is a big step backwards - NO enhanced text option on this version (I haven't checked for an upgrade). Overall I'm happy with the printing, less so with scanning. Canon is still my first choice.

I like the cannon pixma as a copier and a printer. I set it up myself and only had trouble (not much) with the lack of wording about the buttons that had more than one function. After I understood that there was no trouble.Fax is not as easy. You are required to know about the different kinds phone lines so I didn't succeed faxing. I need to study it all out so I can fax something the next time.

I read reviews before purchasing but not a single review listed this issue. The sheet feeder is awful, it takes in one sheet at a time. Imagine the amount of time you have to dedicate to printing if the document is large. I am hoping my printer breaks down so I have an excuse to buy another one. Really disappointed with my printer and did not expect this from Canon. They have got the printing quality and ink consumption covered but failed to optimize the basic mechanism -- paper loading.

This is my second Pixma printer. It prints very nicely. I had some issues setting up the fax, my fault, and I had to call tech support. If you follow the instructions carefully it isn't that complicated. My only regret is that it has no drivers for an old desktop computer running Windows 2000. I would recommend this all in one machine for anyone who needs all the functions.

The MX882 scanner is quite good for a multi-function machine. Unlike some other users I found the sheet-fed scanning to be reasonably fast 8-10 pages per minute at 300 dpi. My main complaint is the incredibly long time it takes to print the first page. I am an old geezer, so time is pretty valuable to me, and this printer takes way too long to finally decide it is going to begin printing. Since I have other printers, I use this one only to scan and copy, and do my printing on a different printer that can print the first 35 pages before the Canon gets through very noisily examining its naval to decide if today is a good day to print.

I was searching around for a good printer that wouldn't go all expensive on ink. I have a Canon MP530 at home and so far I like it a lot.This printer has pretty awesome features for a college student. It turns on in less than five seconds and it prints rather quickly which is a plus.It's also really easy to set up and it is very user friendly for those technology challenged.This wouldn't be the best dorm friendly printer, but its an all-in-one, so not much of a space saver. Wireless is really helpful, less wires to trip over.I am really happy with this purchase!

Long ago I had a Canon printer. The little printer could and could. It used little ink. It lasted 11 years.Why, oh why, did I decide to replace it with an HP all-in-one printer? That's another story.Point is, I'm back and happier than ever with this Canon. Installation was simple. Paper feed works well and doesn't drop paper all over my floor with big jobs. Two simple ink cartridges that seem to last (I've been printing a lot). Quality is good (caveat: I mostly print black and white and don't do color photos). Copying is easy.All around a super printer for a low price.

This printer is great for printing wirelessly, but the print quality is not so great. It works well for printing black, but when it comes to color, it fails miserably. The set-up is super easy; you just follow the instructions given in the many pamphlets in the box. As for the aesthetic aspect of the printer, it looks pretty sick, especially with the blue wi-fi light. Pretty easy to navigate the menu on the actual printer, not as fancy with the double 7-seg display, but it works.

I have been trying for an hour to print my Christmas cards, and the printer cuts so much out of the picture it is unreal. No matter what I do, it still cuts at least 1/8 of an inch, even after I put a line around the whole thing. It enlarges the whole thing way too much. It also takes too much energy to warm up and turn off after printing.

I just set this up yesterday. It prints good quality print. It is slower than my previous printer, but speed is not a concern foe me. Most of the set up is fairly easy, with the exception of the wireless feature. I just do not know enought about setting up all wireless devices, my son usually does this for me. I used the USB set up as it is next to the computor. That set up nicely. I have not used the fax or scanning features yet, but the set up for these was easy. I have also not use the 2 side printing feature yet and may update my review when I use the features I have not tried yet.

Великолепно

I don't do a lot of printing, my old Canon lasted 9 years.I wanted a replacement printer, not an all-in-one unit, thisone looked nice and the price was very reasonable.So far it has worked very well, a little noisy but so was my old one.The software is much better, I like the fact that when not in useyou can remove the paper and close it up to keep out dust.I haven't done enough printing to judge how long the ink will last.

This all in one is a nice printer it is easy to set up, and has no problems doing any task you ask it to do. The only down side is the paper tray. It is a real pain to get it to seat completely. I just know it will be the first thing on the unit to break!

Великолепно

This is an awesome printer for the price. Makes excellent photo prints. Only thing I don't like is no paper tray to catch finished pics or print jobs and it is not wireless capable .
