I really like this all-in-one printer! Being able to scan and make photocopies really make things a lot easier. However, it is louder than I would prefer and I always hesitate to use it during night time. The ink goes really fast as well; I am already anticipating getting new ink after 1 month of usage.

I have had great success with Canon printers and this one is no exception. Prints fast with good quality. Wireless easy to set up and use from multiple computers (set up 4 Windows 7 laptops in 10 minutes or so). There is a lot of extra and unnecessary software that comes on the installation CD, but I'm sure you could say that about any new printer. For the price, I am not sure if you can beat this printer.

All in all the printer is great. Great price, nice features.Someone needs a kick in the pants for this one though: It will not remember your WiFi Connections. You will have to re-key in (on their UI) the wireless access code. If someone would have put a small memory chip in there to remember that, I wouldn't have anything bad to say about this printer. The fact the engineers, or the manager that approved this device let this one slip is unforgiveable. It's not so bad that I throw it out the window, however I want my money back and I will be looking for an upgrade and it will not be a Cannon.

I replaced a Win98se sheet fed scanner and an Epson flatbed with this compact all-in one (AIO). The reviews led me to anticipate some challenges setting it up but it was easy. I synched its Wi-Fi to my D-link wireless router on the first attempt AND I HAD NEVER USED THE ROUTER WI-FI BEFORE. It was almost as easy as connecting my Bluetooth headset to my cell phone...although I did have to activate the router's wireless feature and related WPA security.It briefly seemed as if the sheet feeder wasn't working, but I was copying only a couple pages and hadn't inserted them far enough - stopped when I heard the thing beep...It works OK if I'm careful. The quality of the scans and the print output are both terrific. I like the fact you can leave the discharge chute closed and it will pop out on its own when printing.Very nice affordable space saving solution.

This is a great printer for documents as well as photos. The wi fi works great and is very easy to set up. I read in another review that it wont scan wirelessly, and I was pleased to find out that was not true. It comes with great photo software as well.

I got sick of my HP giving me trouble, so after some research, bought on.I can't get the wireless to work so it's plugged into my computer. Since the wireless didn't work, and my wife needs to print, I bought another, since I don't want to buy and endless variety of cartridges.Smart huh? No.Then I printed a photo. There is a repeating tiny line that goes across the page, making the photo useless.So I printed it on my wife's.Same.Tried a couple other photos.SameTried cleaning, and deep cleaning on both.Same.Sigh. Sorry I bought it. Sorry I bought it again.Stupid.....If you ever want wireless to work (I have a mac), or print a photo, best look elsewhere.....

I have bought a number of printers over the years but this is my favorite yet.Wifi was easy to set up and software install went smooth except for a conflictwith a previous scanner driver (ie make sure if you have a previous scanner installed you unistall that scanner softwaere first to avoid this).Print quality is great and fast enough.Wireless scanning and printing works great.The LCD control panel is user friendly and well thought out.The ink cartridges light up to ensure you they are installed correctly (good thinking)The scanner is quick and quietThe printer is a little noisy, but most printers are.Ink seems like it lasts well so far and 2 compatiable refills (10 cartridges total)can be had on ebay for $15. That was the #1 reason for my purchase since ink costs is really what soaks you on a printer purchase.Double sided printing is possible without having to flip the paper over manually(That is a great feature)If there is picture paper in the top tray the printer automatically uses the right paper when printing (another great feature)This is a well thought out device and probably the best printer purchase I have evermade. I might purchase another soon just in case they are discontinued for some reason.FYIIf your computer is wireless you don't need to purchase a additional usb cablesince scanning and faxing can be done through wireless.Canon printers have been rated the most reliable by PC magazine over the last7 years and they have good customer support which was another selling point for me.The Lexmark I previously had (X5100) was not made well and was a ink hog.For ~ $80 (current selling price on Amazon) you can't beat this printer.Get one!

Looked at a lot of printers before buying this one. The software was easy to install and the printer was easy to set up (took less than 30 minutes from the time I opened the carton). This is an all in one WiFi printer and connection to my home system was flawless. Print speed is great and the menu screen on the printer for changing settings is easy to follow. For the home office this is an excellent choice. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Bought this printer because Canon was recommended for Mac users. RIDICULOUSLY easy set up. Print quality isn't the best, but it's pretty good. I didn't think I would use the duplexing tray often, I just considered it a little bonus, but now after having the printer a month- it's a default setting. Bottom line: it's a pretty nice printer, especially for the price.

Got it a couple of weeks ago, but only installed it yesterday, because it is bigger than expected and had to make room for it. Able to set up in one shot. If you want to use it wirelessly, it will take about 15 minutes on the first computer, and close to 10min for each additional computer. Very good quality prints. Can't comment yet on ink use. It is kind of loud. one other reviewer said the the printer cleans the printing heads before each job. I wonder if this is true and if there is a way to change this setting.I will try to update this review in a couple of weeks.UPDATE (5-24-11)After a couple of weeks, still very happy with this printer. high quality prints. Using it 100% wireless, no issues printing. Haven't tried scanning or fax. My wife loves the software applications. Again, so far, so good.

I would rather have bleeding hemorrhoids than ever have to look at this printer again. I've just spent the last 5 hours trying every permutation of the wireless setup instructions, online forums tips from other people who can't get it to work, manual setup, setup updates, and WPS setup, including restarting my router several times and restarting my computer about 15 times. The whole reason I bought this thing was so it would work wirelessly. Right now, the only thing I want it to do is fly out the window and smash into a thousand parts on the sidewalk. I hate this printer so much. Seriously, I've spent FIVE hours with nothing to show for it, and I have a degree in computer science.

This happens to be one of the worst printers I have ever encountered. it is not user friendly, you have no prompts just arrows that seem to go nowhere and constant communication errors. If and when you can receive tech support to navigate you through endless steps to assist you with the set up yet again, they seem to be very friendly and helpful. But who has time to waste when you just want to print a document it takes a better part of an hour for one piece of paper. I am not sure if this printer has issues that are exclusively related to the MAC but I DO NOT recommend this printer unless you are extremely technically inclined. Therefore, for regular home use, this printer is useless and collects dust as I resort to printing items at other locations other than my home.

This is my first wireless printer and I had concerns that it would be hard to set up. However those fears were unfounded because it went very easy.I set it up on all three computers in less than an hour. You have to install the provided installation cd on each computer. Then Windows takes over.I am very happy with print speed and quality.I have only had this printer for a month so long term reliability remains to be seen.

I ordered this printer for the publication that I advise. It holds the large paper, prints quickly and efficiently. The only down side is that the ink cartridges don't hold a lot, so you have to refill often. I am pleased with this purchase for both quality and price.

I would not recommend this printer to my worse enemy. It goes thru ink like no other printer I've ever had. It's truly incredible. I actually looked underneath it to see if there was a puddle. I don't know where the ink goes, but I know I will never buy another Canon printer.

Just purchased and began using this printer and its just what I expected. I was in the market for a printer under $100 that prints in black/color, scans, connects wirelessly and looks half decent. For $58 you really can't beat it, and it only took 15-20 painless minutes to set up. Too Easy!!!!

This printer was installed on a Wi-Fi system which included a Apple Time Capsule #MB276LL/A (AirPort Extreme Plus 500 GB Storage), a 24" iMac desktop and a 13.3" MacBook laptop. The MP560 replaced a 2 year old HP Laserjet #P2035, the reason being the Canon was a freebie included with the purchase of my new MacBook laptop. The HP was black print only, fast and noisy. The MP560 print is superior and also in color, first page is a wait, however print quality is well worth the extra time it takes to get going. The Canon looks better sitting on the table compared to the square box profile of the old HP.Setup using the Apple WiFi setup was a no brainer. Based on R. Savage's review I DID NOT load the software which was on the CD provided with the printer. I went to the Canon WWW site and downloaded the 2 files he mentioned in his review ( which have since been updated ). When I used the printer for the first time the Apple Software update pops up to state there is a new version of the Canon printer drivers , and I then selected to download those drives as an additional update to the ones on the Canon site. Both printing and scanning worked first time !These are the two drivers that I downloaded from the Canon site.MP560 series MP Driver Ver.1.0 for Network (Mac OS X 10.6)MP Navigator EX Ver. 3.0.4 (Mac OS X 10.3/10.4/10.5/10.6)The printer comes with 3 color cartridges and two black cartridges and a package of photo paper. Prior reviews claim that the Canon photo paper is superior to other brands - time will tell. Instructions are spot on as far as setting the MP560 up. REMOVE ALL ORANGE TAPE AND ORANGE PLASTIC COVERS prior to using the MP560. The orange "stuff" is used to protect the components during shipping - BTW the empty box the unit ships in is very heavy construction and probably weighs 5 pounds empty!Printing is rather straight forward, WiFi is a bonus with the addition of a laptop I now can sit anywhere in the house and print. Flat bed scanning is also straight forward (using you computer or directly from the MP560). You also have the option of saving your scanned images as a PDF or JPG file either on your computers harddrive or on a USB flash drive ( aka = thumb drive ) through a USB port on the front of the MP560. Another feature I like is there hinged covers over the USB port, memory card slots and the pop up display panel. Plain paper tray loads from the front, photo paper loads from the top, again covered with a plastic door.

I needed a 3 in 1 to do a large amount of scanning with a minimal upfront investment (I paid $85 for this machine). The MX340 will work with the caveat that, in my experience, the maximum number of pages scannable at one time is 17 pages. Print quality, both black and white and color, is very good, as is quality of photocopying in either mode. Controls are easy and intuitive to use. It will not replace my laser printer for black and white correspondence, however, as ink consumption, particularly the black ink tank, is very high for the number of pages printed. Documents printed in color come out very well. The printer drivers require some patience and diligence to install on multiple computers in the household. Scanning is easy once the drivers are installed and automatically convert to .pdf file format. If you have a need to scan large documents on a regular basis, this is the not the machine for you; consider a higher-end machine or a dedicated scanner. But if the majority of your documents are under 17 pages or less, it will work well.

I love this printer!!!It was easy to set up for wireless use on a MacAir using 10.5. I found the manual straightforward and easy to use, although the juxtaposed English and Spanish directions can be a bit confusing as another reviewer pointed out. (Sometimes you have to read a direction in English, then one in Spanish below it, then continue to the next line in English.) But it was still clear and not a big deal. I followed the directions for downloading the Mac drivers from the website as given by a previous reviewer.The printer will print immediately and is fairly quick and quiet. I love the duplex function. I access it under "Copies and Pages" on the Print Page. I am just sorry I did not get this printer sooner and spent over one year dealing with an HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One 309 that was very delayed in sending the print job and often would not print at all from the Internet. HP tech support was very nice and had me uninstall and reinstall the software several times but the problem was never fixed and the duplex function never worked. Although in the past I have been very satisfied using a wired HP printer with a Mac, when it comes to wireless, I found this printer to be far superior at a cheaper cost.2 caveats:1. I have not used the scanner yet. I have used the copier and it works great.2. I would not recommend this for wired use with 10.5 OS. It says on their website that there is a known issue with this.Overall I strongly recommend this printer for Mac users looking for a wireless printer.

This printer has replaced a Cannon i860, which provided about 6 years of very reliable performance... it isn't done yet though... been given to a young nephew for use with his new notebook. Since I had such good fortune with the previous Cannon product... I didn't look to any other brand to replace it. The MP560 has already proven to be a very good printer. Fine quality output, print and photos. The built in scanning bed saves space (was able to also gift an older stand-alone scanner). The copy feature of not having to have the iMac turned on... is great. Installation was without any problems... very straight forward setup (wireless) Printer recognized my network... I just had to key the network password using the turn-wheel on the control panel to select alpha/numeric values. I installed the Cannon software without a problem too. I previously used and older version of the MP Navigator 1.0, so I was used to the features. Also checked for Mac Software updates after I installed the software and it found all of the necessary updates for this printer... no need to visit the Cannon website for driver updates. All in all... a very good unit for every day use... and for the price... it's amazing how a device with such features and functionality can be provided. My only complaint is that the unit does not shut off by itself... you have to depress the "ON" button to turn it off. This seems a bit odd given all of its sophistication... and especially since the front of the printer has an "Energy Star" label! There's really no reason for the omission of this important energy saving feature. My much older printer turned on and off by itself. What's up with dat Cannon? I still highly recommend this printer. Maybe Cannon will issue a firmware update at some point to resolve power saver issue.

I'm a commercial truck driver and need both a printer and scanner for everything I do. I've been through several printer/scanner combos over the years and they usually don't stand the beating that anything electronic in the truck suffers. I bought this printer four months ago and have had no issues with it whatsoever, even after nearly 75,000 miles of bouncing in the truck. I print log sheets daily and scan 3-4 times per week. I have also had to print for law enforcement a few times. I printed from inside a scale house for one officer and he had to come out to the truck to see my set-up and decided he was buying one of these printers for his house.As for set-up, it was very quick to go from pulling it out of the box to having it ready to go. I had no issues getting it onto the network in my truck and it printed flawlessly from my old HP laptop with Windows Vista. My laptop finally failed a few weeks ago and I was forced to purchase a new computer. I purchased a Dell with Windows 7 and was printing before I had really figured much out about Windows 7.I have the printer set to print borderless for my log sheets. The printer recommends against this, as it says print quality will be diminished. My log sheets still come out flawless. I HIGHLY recommend this printer to anyone in the market for a printer/scanner combo. Even if it failed today, I would buy another one!Update: About 4 months ago I quit driving over-the-road and now work from home dispatching for a trucking company. This printer now gets used even more than it used to and still works flawlessly! It covered nearly 300,000 miles over-the-road and is now the office printer. Still highly recommended!!!!

After 2 weeks I can say that it works almost as well as my previous MP530, its fast, its good on ink usage, and it does edge to edge printing. My only beef is that it starts printing the first page of the day slowly, having to charge the heads with ink the first time goes on and on, and with the printer sitting right behind me it is annoying. Sorry for the run on sentence.

This is a great printer. It took some time to install, but it is working great with Mac v10.6.8. It is has been very easy to use, print, scan and copy. I have not hooked up the fax feature yet. Best of all, I was able to scan wirelessly to my computer, which previously I had a lot of difficulty with. I am not sure how long the ink will last, but so far it seems fine. It also came with great software and a manual you can install on your computer.

I'm running Debian Squeeze. The installation via the network was pretty easy, using these instructions:[...](Stupid amazon deletes the link). Since I have a mac running osx in the house, I could skip the ipscan and change the ssid steps (I already knew the ip of the router). It was a matter of installing the drivers by running the .deb's, and it's done.I spent most of this morning fighting with osx, as the other reviews claim, and still have not made network printing work. Good luck with that -- I'll just print from linux.

Thus far, I love everything about this printer. My wife and I use it to print off the internet , pictures and recipes as well as other things. It has worked flawlessly. One thing I did object to was the shipping and handling charges but I guess it was my fault for not paying closer to the fine print when ordering. It took 5 days to ship from Indiana to California. If I had done my homework I probably could have saved money and had the printer earlier.

It's difficult to find a good review of this printer from the Linux user's perspective, but that's a shame because it is extremely Linux-friendly. Both my Ubuntu 10.10 laptop and my wife's, which runs 9.04 (still...), were up and printing over wireless within 30 minutes of the FedEx guy knocking on my door. While they say they are provided with "no support and no warranty," Canon provides free, official Linux drivers for this printer in both .deb (Debian, Ubuntu and derivatives) and .rpm (Red Hat, Fedora, SuSE) formats, and they integrate right in to CUPS. They allow you access to all of the settings of the device, including every resolution, all paper feed options, automatic duplexing, etc. etc. There's also a Linux scanning driver, which under Ubuntu 10.10 had my computer scanning over the wireless network without trouble and in moments. (My wife's laptop won't, so for scanning you may want to update your OS.)There's a great walkthrough for getting the thing running here:[...]Note to 64-bit users: The packages are tagged as x86, but will work fine under amd64. However, by default the installation will fail, because you need to tell it to ignore the architecture tag. There's a howto on modifying the install script, as well as a pre-modified install package for the print drivers, at [...]You need to modify the scanner drivers in the same manner.

Broke after 3 months, windows stopped recognizing it. I barely used the item maybe printing a document or two a week if that. I contacted Cannon costumer service and after putting up a stink they agreed to send me a new one. The "new" one was a refurbished one. I paid for a new one and i end up getting a used one. It does work though so we shall see how long. Would not buy again.

If you are looking for a printer that will get the job done, without the need to call IT support technician, this is the one for you. There isn't much to this printer in terms of features that can confuse or irritate you. The printer is large so be prepared to receive a large box, however don't let the size fool you. Despite its bulkiness, it is flexible and quick, averaging about 11 pages per minute (black and white) and 8 pages per minute for color.This device will work with your Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP or your MacOS X 10.4.11 - 10.6. It connects via USB.Only negative qualities: No Scanning and No Networking feature.Overall, I give it 4 starts for durability, setup and usability.

Compared to the HP I used to own, this printer is a joy to use, easy, simple and fun. It doesn't jam, it prints more using ink that costs less, and the printer driver is well-designed and installs quickly. This Canon printer simply prints whatever I want, from 4x6 photos to 13x19 signs.(The first of my large-format HP printers died within 2 months; HP replaced it under warranty with a later model which guzzled ink, jammed constantly, demanded expensive printhead replacements every few months, and had a software drive that was huge and slow, yet feature-barren. I have never before been so glad to get rid of a printer.)

I bought this three months ago as my first network capable printer. Setup, unlike what others are saying, was not a breeze, and I am not exactly a newbie at this sort of thing. Getting the MX-350 to recognize my network took a couple of hours. One month later, it abruptly stopped recognizing my network (and I had made no changes). It did get going again with some tinkering, but just this week (4 months after purchase), the paper will not load. I have followed all of Canon's troubleshooting tips with no result. I e-mailed Canon support three days ago, and have not heard back. If anyone has any suggestions...Update. I have to correct myself. I finally dialed Canon support, and they were wonderfully patient. The rep walked me through a series of steps, and while the printer never worked, the rep didn't hesitate. He arranged to have a new one sent to me straight away.Second upate: One month later, the printer (again) has uninstalled itself. Yes, you read this correctly. I did not uninstall it. I did not reformat my hard drive. I did not change my internet service provider or modem. It simply uninstalled itself somehow. This has happened three times. Великолепно

Ordered this printer and received it in 2 days with free shipping! I could not come close to the price either. It seems to be well designed and it can do everything and more for our family. A great value! Been using it for about 2 weeks now and it prints flawlessly. Tried duplex printing as well and am impressed by it as well.

First off, I am very happy with this printer. This is my second Canon PIXMA printer, the last one I sold when I moved. I do like the included software, which is a little unusual for me, but the Canon MP Navigator is the best bundled software utility I have ever used. It makes scanning documents and turning them into a PDF a breeze. I would usually do all my scanning directly in Photoshop because using bundled software was always like working in handcuffs. Using MP Navigator however was the opposite. Now I will even scan out of MP Navigator, then open the images in Photoshop to adjust image quality (prebundled software has yet to compete in this arena) then open them again in MP Navigator to make a multipage PDF.My only gripe about the CD is that when you are installing the printer on your computer, you have to install it from the CD to use all the features. Installing this printer using Windows Control Panel > Printers will not give you the ability to scan wirelessly. This might not seem like a big deal, but say you are going to use a different network than the one which you first set up the printer. To do this you have to use the CD to set up the printer on that wireless network. Nevermind that you already have all the software installed. You still have to use to CD.That said, I love the auto-duplexing, a feature that more and more basic printers are offering. I also like the paper tray which tucks away neatly at the bottom of the printer, so you don't have paper sticking out anymore. Another thing I really like that seems pretty simple is that the print door opens automatically when you send a document to print. The previous printers I had never did this, so if you forgot to open the print door your document would get all crunched up inside. In all, this printer was totally worth buying.

I highly recommend this printer. Most of my prints are 13x19 and the quality is excellent. I am very pleased.

Canon PIXMA MP495 is the best basic printer/scanner out there. Very good for a college student. Can't beat the price either for something of a good brand.Installation was so EASY. The instructions are very clear. Any dummy can do it. :D Great buy!
