After two years of regular but light duty the print head has failed. Replacement is half the price of a new machine. There was no warning, just a sudden error code that could not be cleared. Cleaning the head did nothing. Too bad, this was a good printer right until it crapped out. We've gone to an Epson, brand new, with nearly all the features and at the same price of a new print head. The reason I'm giving the Canon a one star rating is that my expectations at this price point were for a long-lived printer. Two years' service does not meet that standard. My recommendation is find a less expensive printer and be happy at replacing it every couple years if it too, fails "too soon" like this Canon. Watch for my batch of leftover factory ink cartridges on craigslist.

This thing was operating strangely right out of the box. It made a constant clicking/grinding noise from day 1. But nonetheless it was printing. Then over the next few weeks after using it (lightly) is started having frequent paper jams. Tonight it all together decided to never work again. Every time we uncleared a jam, an error popped up saying it was jammed again (there was NOTHING there to jam it!). The software and the machine is very junky. I just sent my husband out to Best Buy to buy a new printer as I have documents I need printing immediately and cannot wait for this to be repaired/replaced by manufacturer. AVOID.

My PSC 2210xi died recently, having been a faithful workhorse for several years. After a long look around for a replacement I finally settled on the Canon MX882. Runners-up included HP's 6500 and 8500, and Epson's 840. What convinced me were the customer reviews. Professional rating services put HP high on the list, but user reviews are iffy at best. The Canon and the Epson were well-treated in user reviews. Price, and the fact that I didn't really need to scan/print tabloid size paper, lead me to the Canon.My experience so far, it's been about 16 hours now, has been great. Setup went smoothly (I installed it on a wired network) with one hitch--my primary machine, which runs XP 64, wouldn't read the installation disc. I quickly found the drivers online though, followed the setup instructions, and was in business. The disc ran fine on our other machines, all running Windows 7 extreme, or whatever it's called, except that installing from the disc took significantly longer than the driver installation. But it's done, and now we can scan, print, and fax from anywhere in the house, from any machine.So far all functions work. No detailed evaluations of print quality here, no obvious flaws is the best I can offer. Will be back with more info if disappointed.UPDATE: 12/12 Drop the stars to 3.Everything is still great, and I can report that it works fine for my wired and wireless devices alike. Only a couple of downsides. For one thing, the "low ink" warning is almost perpetually on. This started shortly after my initial review. If I replaced cartridges whenever the alert came up I'd be throwing them away when still at least half full. It's annoying, but much cheaper to ignore the alerts until the sensor stops the print job and reports an empty cartridge, and then I only replace the one flagged as empty.One petty complaint, I don't like the 'buttons' on my screen for the printer functions. They sit well out from the lower right corner of the screen. Not exactly the middle, but well away where they belong.

I bought this photo printer for a color managing class in Photography. I wasn't looking to do my own color managing but the class required a photo printer so I looked for the most affordable option which brought me here. Its your basic no frills photo printer. The ink lasts for about 20 full page prints max. I found it difficult to get the printer to match the colors of my images even with the ColorMunki tool. If you are buying for casual photo printing and aren't particular about the colors matching up exactly then by all means. Not for professional/semi-professional use.

I bought this printer based on reviews and other factors. I love how it's all in one printer. The one thing I must say that has stood out is that I was able to print on really thick paper for wedding invitations, programs etc. My cousin was getting married and I suggested a do it yourself invite. What we didn't know what that printing on the cardstock was difficult for many systems. Not this system! I have a friend getting married now and everyone is complaining that they can't print her invites because her cardstock is too thick or because the size of the paper is small. I can't believe this little printer is getting the job done. Best investment ever! Also, I've noticed that the ink does not run super low quickly. I've been able to printer over 700 invites, response cards, and reception cards, bridal shower invites, address labels and programs without my black ink cartridge running out. Amazing! No paper jams, no major issues I can think of. Had this for almost a year now. On another note, when I print photos it eats up the ink quickly. Cheers!

I purchased this item as a Gold Box deal a few weeks ago. I was on the fence, as I have a working HP printer and an old Canon scanner that works well enough for occasional use, though I have to keep my print server (old computer) online in order to have a networked option, or I need to walk the laptop upstairs to the devices in order to use them. The value of the printer and scanner, combined with an "always on" wireless connection (even when the device is sleeping), tipped my decision at a price tag under 70 bucks.I received the Canon Pixma MP560 on a late afternoon. I had some documents I had to copy before the end of the day, and rather than hook up my old equipment, I figured I'd give the new device a chance. It took approximately 20 minutes to unpack and position where I wanted it, 5 minutes to install the ink cartridges, 2-3 minutes to figure out how to load the paper the first time, and about 30 minutes later, I had the copies I needed. It took an additional 2-3 minutes to set up the wireless connection (in response to an earlier review, lowercase and capital letters are both available for your passcode; simply scroll past "XYZ" to get to "abc") and 5 minutes to install the software on my Windows 7 laptop (neither was necessary for the "copy" functions I needed).Since then, I've printed out a number of photos and about twenty documents. I've scanned, saved, and emailed multiple documents for work. I've yet to run into a major issue.Printer:Documents print out as you'd expect, so I don't have much to report there: they're fairly quick, especially if they're just black and white, and they're fairly crisp.I never actually wanted a "photo" printing ability. I've only cared about printing out documents in the past when necessary. However, when used with a decent photo paper (the Canon Pixma MP560 comes with a small sample of 4x6" photo paper), this printer spits out a pretty decent image with great color reproduction. I've since redecorated my apartment with framed printed photos I've taken on various vacations.Though I can't comment on the ink replacement costs, as I haven't gone though any cartridges yet, the MP560 splits the ink into 5 cartridges, so instead of constantly replacing a "all color" cartridge when only the yellow or magenta goes bad, you can swap out only the empty, so I consider that a step up from my old printer.Scanner:Like many network scanners, you can send the item you scan directly to any computer on the network with the scanning software installed. That alone trumps my old Canon scanner. You can also copy the scan onto a USB drive. The scanner also gives the option of bundling the scan into a PDF; you can continue scanning pages to add to that PDF, and when you're through, it sends the whole thing to the computer you select. Quality is fairly decent, even though I've only been using the quickest, "copy" resolution setting.Copier:Combine the printer and the scanner -- you have a copier. Nothing too spectacular about that, though I can skip the "save to computer" step I've had to use with my old scanner and printer.The only issue I've noticed thus far is a disconnect between what I believe I set the margin to be and what actually gets cut off in an 8.5" x 11" scan or print, though this early on, I'm chalking that up to "not being familiar with the product" and I assume I can change that once I have time to dig a little deeper in the settings.

Original I thought this was a great buy for a printer however, not too long after the printer refused to power on. I checked the plugs and electrical outlet at home and they all seem to be just fine. there is no sign of electricity flowing through my printer. I am very disappointed since I spent about $200. and I never even got that amount of money worth in prints, scans, copy or fax.

I wanted wireless because I use computers in a couple if rooms. I had no problem hooking it up to all. I even had a third one printing. Quality, color and options are great. Prints two sided which saves paper.

After purchasing a new Windows7 desktop, I found my Dell 946 AIO wasn't supported. I was also often in need of ink cartridges for the Dell and found those prices distressing. I found everything I was looking for in this Canon Pixma MX420 printer. Once again needing cartridges for the Dell946, the $60 I would have spent on them was the catalyst for my new printer purchase. I am wholly pleased with my decision. I searched out tons of printer choices, this one fit the bill for Windows 7 and for affordability.Foremost, the Canon Pixma MX420 installation with my 64-bit Windows 7 was a breeze. Just for snicks, I also installed the Canon software on my other Vista desktop with no hitches too. No more fussing with Dell drivers. I liked my Dell printer, but I gotta have one that works on my LAN, right?Canon MX420 performance is wonderful, image quality is superlative, printing speed is comparable to the Dell too. The only 'Con' that I might mention is that the Canon has a bit more noise in printing than the Dell as it goes through its motions, but that's no matter to me - I generally don't go on printing frenzies in the middle of the night while other people are sleeping.We've used this printer as a copier, scanner and printer with boundless ease. I can't review the fax or SD card functions yet. But I'm sure you'll be as pleased as I am, given the price point and affordability of the ink cartridges. Thanks Canon - you rock! Amazon rocks too - thanks for the great value!

I print mostly black and white photos. I wanted a printer for larger (13x19) papersizes, that works. But the quality is less crisp than on my Canon Pixma MG6120 (with extra gray ink). I printed on a hp photopaper and the picture was a lot darker than on my screen. I have to make changes to the photos, brighten them up and sharpen them or change the printer settings to more contrast to have quite the same crisps results than with the other Pixma (which cannot print more than letter size). That makes it a lottery to get the pic that I want, cause you just see the result when printed. And that with the price of the large paper ...

Purchased as a replacement for iP4300, which jammed with paper and would not recover. Paper handling is a disapointment. Duplex is complex and incomprehensible! have no idea how to produce a A5 booklets on A4 paper. also having to use the lower cartridge all ther time for odd printing is a bind - cannot print C5 envelopes for example thro' the upper feed.having to remove the stock A4 every time is not easy - there should be a "push up" at the entrance1. Two front feeds is a backward step.
Help through the mannual is limited.
Colour rendering is good, but expensive.
A bit dissapointed.

My HP 9800 finally bit the dust and I was well aware of Canon Pixma products but never owned a Canon printer. Took me awhile to decide which model to buy but I decided on the iX6520 and I love it! Printed docs are great but the photos are even better. And with the 11 x 17 capability, this inkjet is tops. So good that I don't miss my 9800. Plus I just purchased a Canon Scanner from Amazon.

I have loved Canon printers for a long while. And like others I have purchased, this Pixma fulfilled..most of my needs. However, the previous printers I had allowed you to select down to the media in the tray (ie type of paper). This one...not so much. I also purchased it based on model info that it was a wireless printer. It's not. Also it did not come with a cable for connecting to my computer. I had to travel to Best Buy just to finally use my printer. For quality, it is excellent. But the other issues make me sad that it did not live up to the expectations.

Got this for my son for Christmas. He does a lot of printing. This replaces his old failing Epson printer at about 1/3 the cost. And, the ink cartridges have proved very easily to reload with the proper inks and chip resetting device.I like the fact that you can replace the entire print head, if necessary, for about $50.This unit has printed several hundred 13 x 19 inch prints without a problem.

This replaced my IP 4500. It is very noisey - even in quiet mode. It continually cleans the heads. To print on discs you have to close the access flap for each disc to be printed on. This wastes a lot of time. Whilst the printing time onto paper may be fast the time the printer takes to start is not. The menus may appear to offer a lot of choice, but in terms of every day printing they are far too complicated. It seems to save a new format ie disc label every time you open the menu. I wish I had stayed with my IP 4500

First off, this printer doesn't scan until you can find the correct driver off the internet and finding the right one is very difficult. Next, this printer will not work unless you buy ink cartyridges from Canon. If you try to refill or use secondary market cartridges you can forget getting this printer to work. That is a big deal because ink costs so much. This printer, when it works, is nice, but I have never had so much trouble from any printer I have ever owned. NOT recommended

For the price that I paid ($149), I am quite pleased. I see that the same printer is now $249...easy set-up, works super with my Linksys Cisco E4200 Wireless, I basically use the copier and scanner and rate both excellent for the price range. The ink cartridges are average, $$ and time they last. Overall, a good investment....updated the drivers to Windows 7, a little hassle, but got it to work. The My Image Garden download is nice....thats it

This printer forces you into its own environment: "Cannon Web Service". I haven't figured out yet if I can access it from my web browser - Yahoo. What a pain in the neck. I don't like the quality of the print either.

I've had this printer for well over a year, and it continues to work great. I mostly use it for duplex printing and scanning multi-page documents in PDF form. Its fast, efficient, and the WiFi is fantastic.

We replaced a free Dell printer that we got with our hardware upgrade a couple of years ago. (Side note for anyone who gets offered a free printer -- DON'T get it! it will cost you dearly to buy ink for it.)So yes, it has a couple of cool improvements over a free printer -- nice slick look, faster printing, color copier, wireless printing from a computer ONLY!The big let-down and why I took off 2 stars is its misleading description. The major reason why I bought this printer is because it said that one can print off iOS devices (like iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.) Well, it turns out that you CANNOT print off iOS devices. If you keep reading the description it will tell further down that one can print from a Canon specialized app only. Hmm. I guess you can print pictures from that app, but, say, printing from an Apple's AirPrint menu (like from Safari, Mail, Notes, Photos, etc.) is not supported. BIG LET-DOWN. So keep this in mind before ordering.

Pros:High quality printing: surprisingly good at higher quality settings but completely acceptable at economy setting.Reasonably fast: this printer will pump out the work at a fairly fast pace - I print large PP presentations and the printer does not slow me down.Small: Takes up the least amount of room of any printer I have ever owned with the exception of small personal (portable) printers.Inexpensive purchase price/reasonable operating cost: As a student I print out a LOT of full color presentations for my courses- I have not counted page output, but I replace cartridges once per semester (sometimes less).Cons: (all of these are very minor)Noisy: as others have mentioned you can tell when this little printer is busy-it makes some noise. Not recommended for use in the baby's nursery- should be fine anywhere else.Paper Tray/Paper capacity: This printer will not hold a ream of paper, nor will it catch its output (no catch tray). If your printer is close to your PC this should be a non-issue (it is for me), and lack of an output tray is one of the reasons this little printer will fit into small spaces.Verdict: Excellent printer, highly recommended

I had a good experience with this product in regards to scanning documents and making PDFs -- additionally, the print quality is acceptable (though the printer burns through ink like crazy). Unfortunately printing to normal paper from the included paper cassette is ridiculously fiddly -- the printer complains that there's no paper 2 out of 3 times I print, despite a totally full cassette. Good software but very, very poor engineering.

This printer is okay - a decent value for the price paid. No bells or whistles. One frustrating thing that is apparently common now among all printers and brands is the fact that you can't just print a simple page without the printer taking what seems like 5 minutes to "prepare" to print, with noises and moving parts apparently flying back and forth. Then, after printing, it has to do the same thing. What the heck is going on in there? It makes more noise pre-print and post-print than it does actually doing the printing.

Made it home bouncing in the big box, but got OK. The lower paper tray in not complete, or comes from a different printer, but I happened to still have my broken printer and swapped the part. When we purchase things, we expect they to be complete. But Hey! I just had returned another defective printer. This one prints fine, and I am happy with the purchase. Thanks.

After loading all the print cartridges and attempting to connect the printer via wifi, it wasn't able to do so. I switched to a USB connection, and my computer couldn't recognize the printer. I tried several times. I tried turning everything off and starting again, but had the same problem. The computer is a new Dell desktop. The printer lights were flashing yellow and white. When I turn off the printer and turn it on again, it makes a loud crunching sound before in the printer head area. So it seems this printer is unreliable and hard to install, maybe broken prior to shipment.

but it is useful to have a copier, scanner and printer. I rarely use the fax, but it is hand to have. We were having to fax a lot of documents and ended up paying a good amount at the copier store--enough to have bought a small fax machine. We do use the fax sometimes, but not as often as we were at first. I really like the wireless feature--added it to our network so we can print from the laptops easier.

If you need to print review sets of architectural drawings as large as possible and cheaply this is it -- 11 by 17, or 13 by 19. It is a personal, or work group printer for the poor and struggling firm.

Excellent printer. I am loving it. Colors are excellent. Long life cartridge. The only problem is printer driver for mac, which doesn't give 100% specially in wifi mode. I hope canon will review their driver for mac.

This printer is less flexable in terms of print size than similarly priced Epsons. It will only print a file that is 19" long. It also is very clunky when it comes to loading your paper. It has the feel of a later 1980s machine. It also runs through ink like a fire hose dispenses water.
