I don't do much fancy stuff, just basic printing documents and pictures from iPhoto. I have always had good luck with Canon printers, but this one was a disappointment. All my photos are washed out with very poor color resolution, so much so that I have decided to get rid of it.

After reading the reviews on this product, I purchased for the odd color jobs around the office. Bond paper really soaks up the ink and softens the image. Otherwise, super easy to set up, connect to the network and a great price.

I purchased this product at a local Walm... store. It was reasonably priced and has all the features I want in a printer. Shortly after 6mos. of light home use (only replaced ink once) has become a paper jam nightmare. The rollers seem to be misaligned and paper will not feed in correctly. I'm not a printer tech. I googled the problem and was still unable to fix it. The point is, I shouldn't have to be a printer tech. I just want what everyone else wants. Things to work the way they are supposed to when I purchase them. Printer's are items that when you need them, you really need them (airplane tickets, school papers, etc.) I will NEVER purchase anything with the name Cannon on it. Boo Canon!!!

I have had this printer since April 2010. It worked great until October 2011. After returning from a 3 week vacation, it would no longer print in black. I can print if I change the color to blue, but anything black will not print at all. I first searched the issue online and came across some great suggestions for cleaning the print head. After trying almost all of them, I believe that the print head is now throughly clean. Despite trying many times, it still will not print in black. So I contacted support via email and explained the problem. I also told them about the things I have tried, including buying all new inks. I have never used third party inks or refilled the inks. Since I am out of warranty, their suggestion is to take it in for service or buy a new one at a discounted rate. They did not suggest replacing the print head. I asked them if this is a good thing to try and I am waiting to hear back.I haven't decided what I will do. Everything else in the printer works fine. It scans, copies, prints (in color only), and the wireless works perfectly. So as long as I change the color to blue, it will print. I may just do this until I run out of ink since I just bought all new expensive inks for it. I may go with a laser jet printer for replacement.UPDATE 1/4/2011I heard back from Canon support and they did not recommend replacing the print head since it is not returnable if it doesn't fix the problem.

This printer is LOUD. It is so noisy that I cannot use it if someone in the house is sleeping. Also, the electric plug is very loose where it connects to the printer and keeps popping out which is very annoying because I have to crawl under the desk to try to plug it back in.However, it works so I am giving it a three.

Software is bloated, ink needs replacement too frequently, cartridges aren't cheap--and THIS PRINTER WON'T EVEN LET YOU SCAN (or PRINT IN B/W) IF YOU RUN OUT OF ANY (eg, "magenta") INK CARTRIDGES--MUST...FEED..THE..CANON...INK..MONSTER...

I've had this printer for over 6 years, and it works as well now as it did out of the box. It is very light, although the wall adapter is bulky and tedious. The Li-on battery stays charged "forever" - and I mean months. Original battery in mine.It is relatively slow, and noisy, and like a previous reviewer said, the ink carts do not last long before they malfunction, dry out, or run out. The best way to solve these issues is to use it regularly. I print monochrome mainly, and colour occasionally, and the product is excellent. Colours are true, and print is crisp and clear.I have printed photos occasionally on matte photo paper, and they are excellent quality, with no streaking.It packs easily, you can change ink carts easily, and paper feeds pretty well flawlessly. I don't understand a previous reviewer's comment that it spits the paper out. Line it up right BEFORE you send it a job and it works perfectly every time. Beeps on error messages, so you have to pay attention to those.One shortcoming that might piss you off is that there's no ink monitor, and it can run out at the most inopportune time. Solution: always have spare carts with you. Also, it has only a parallel interface & an IR interface, so if your computer is "modern", it will need an IR port, or you need to buy an adapter.

The print quality is great.However, don't get this printer if you want to use it as your office or misc printer.It is great for pictures... BUT...When doing regular office document printing; it takes 2 minutes and 10 seconds in getting ready before it even starts to print.Now, watch your watch for that time and ask yourself... Can you stand the wait???It goes thru this stupid routine of cleaning the heads and doing whatever prior to printing. URGGG...

I had a canon s900 inkjet and it was wonderful. They stopped making it so I tried this one. It is slower than I had hoped and the color resolution with only limited ink cartridges doesn't capture what I had with my prior printer.

I bought this Canon printer at a wholesale club based on some of the positive reviews here and feel like I bought it at a fair price.DUPLEX PROBLEMS: One of the primary reasons I bought this printer is for the duplex color printing with a MAC. How OS X 10.6 However, it cannot duplex print from Firefox, Chrome, or Safari so far. I hear people rave about how duplex printing stops printing extra misc pages when printing from the internet, but I wouldn't know. There is a small caveat in the instruction manual that duplex printing might not be supported by all drivers?! I am able to duplex print from word documents, and from Adobe documents, however they are shrunk to 1/4 of each side of the page (and it is upside down on the flip side of the page with no way to fix this that I can tell.WIFI PROBLEMS Next problem, wireless has been a NIGHTMARE to set up. I am ready to take it back after several days of reading instruction manuals, looking up troubleshooting tips on line. I have always been able to set up computers, printers, DVD players, etc - but this one is beyond me. If I am able to figure things out before bringing it back, I will update my review but at this point, it seems doubtful.

This device will try your patience.Do not expect that when you scan, or copy, or print, that the device will actually perform said action upon you pressing the corresponding button. Get used to the phrase "please wait," or "processing."When you wake up in the morning, if you anticipate that you'll need to make a copy or scan something or print something, press the power button BEFORE you make your coffee. That way, by the time you've had a cup or two and come back to the device, it will be almost ready to go. Seriously - power the machine on well before you need it and you'll keep your blood pressure in check. When it's not warming up, or getting ready, or processing, or asking you to wait "momentarily," it performs as advertised and well.I had a previous incarnation of the Pixma, the MP780, and it was much more well-mannered and polite. It never made me wait while it did mechanical calisthenics over and over. I guess that's the way it goes, newer generations never seem to be as civil as the previous ones...

We bought this all-in-one because we are very short on space but do occasionally REALLY have to print or scan something (doing at our jobs is not an option). This little machine is nicely compact. The print quality is good and fairly fast and quiet. The scanner is just marvelous - super fast, good quality, and the software that comes with the machine is intuitive (amazing!). We haven't used the copy feature, but since it's essentially a combination of the two aforementioned tasks we're confident in its performance.Now, on the the downsides. Ink, like with almost any printer, is expensive. The thing that is particularly irksome about this machine is that it wants you to replace ALL of the cartridges when one is low. It also doesn't seem to know how to switch between black reservoirs. This isn't a deal breaker, but it is a pain and you end up wasting money and time. Lastly, it can be a little touchy about what machines it wants to connect to. We have a tower which we consider to be the hub computer - the printer likes it just fine. However, it doesn't really like either of our laptops consistently. Haven't tried it with the tablet or our phones. Still, for us this isn't a big deal because we really operate with the tower as the "main" computer anyway. I can see how for others it might be a big downside, however. Also, it sometimes sort of falls asleep and won't wake up - to fix this issue you have to turn the printer on and off, at which point it resets itself and seems to work fine. Still, why can't it just be ready to use at any time?

I owned the MP560 for 13 months (1 out from the warranty) before the scanner head decided to jam in the most rightward position. Thereafter, it turns on with a terrific clatter and cannot complete its prolonged boot routine. The error message it persistently gives (5011) cannot be cleared with powering on/off or any of the other remedies suggested by the Canon customer service rep, who has no intention of honoring the warranty even though this unit is now essentially a paperweight with $100 plus in now-unusable ink. Even though I live in a major metropolitan area (Pittsburgh, PA), canon cannot service the unit locally. Prior to this failure, the printer was an ink guzzler but generally printed ok. The wireless setup was glitchy and required frequent repeat setup.I was a very satisfied owner of a Canon iP3500 (an rgb dedicated inkjet model) that still works. This supposed upgrade was hardly impressive. I would note that it came as a freebie with my last MacBook, and I suspect based on the number of negative reviews of this product that Canon deliberately diverted this error-prone device from the paying consumer market because of these known issues. It is clearly a design flaw to have a jam in the scanner disable the printer. Similar complaints about the disabling of black and white printing if a color ink tanks runs dry reflects a similar attitude on the part of Canon that the consumables for these products come before the customer.

I was so happy to see that large-format printers have finally dropped into the "reasonable expenditure" range - this is a great printer if you want the ability to do over-sized prints on your own. Print resolution is excellent, and 13x19 prints are truly impressive when compared to standard 8.5x11 sizes. Not the right choice if you need multi-function capability, but ideal if you want a (relatively) compact (only slightly larger than my HP all-in-one standard letter format unit) large-format printer.

There are some features about this printer that I love:* I love wireless connectivity* I love multiple paper sources* I love duplex printing* I love that it has never jammedThen there are some things about this printer that I hate:* I hate that it drinks ink like a fish breathes water* I hate that the ink it drinks is SOOOO expensive* I hate that I cannot print B&W/greyscale prints if one of the color ink cartridges is out of inkNotice a trend in my "hate list?" It all has to do with ink consumption.Owning this printer will make you think about owning a different non-Canon printer pretty quickly.I hope this helps you make a good decision.

I purchase this Canon Printer one year ago. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. I purchased it based on the 5 stars reviews I read and it works and does exactly what these reviews say. The Wireless feature is a BIG plus and I love it. I only wished you could also, turned it on through wireless, lol. Perhaps, it is too much too ask. Just had to replace the ink cartridges recently, but you can find the 12 pack generic for only $56.99 with free shipping. The generic ink brand works just as the Canon brand name. So far, so good.An exact year later and my printer is working as good as brand new. Definitely recommend this printer! FANTASTIC!!!

While not a perfect printer, it more than gets the job done for less than $60!I'll spare you any technical specs, and get down to pros and cons:PROS:-It has the WiFis! No more 10 foot wires or dragging your laptop up a flight of stairs to print!-Very good print quality on photos and jpegs. If you let it dry for about 2 minutes, no smearing or bleeding either. It's pretty dang fast too, taking about 1 minute to print out an 8.5" x 11" image.-Very compact and lightweight for an all-in-one printer! Factor in the soothing blue activity light and shiny piano finish, and it makes a handsome addition to any home office corner!-Cheaper than anything in this class at Staples or Best Buy, but with canon quality...that's a winning combo!CONS:- It has the WiFi! Well, a little bit slow, but it still has it...I've connected the printer wirelessly to 3 computers: a macbook pro laptop running leopard, a brand new intel iMac running snow leopard, and an older Dell Optiplex running Windows XP. The printer runs well with all 3, except you have to sometimes hit the "Go" button on the printer before you print so the printer doesn't stay in sleep mode. Annoying, but it still works!- Canon EX software. Not sure why this software sucks so bad, but it does! Besides being way less intuitive than other pre-packaged software, it also is the ONLY way to get your wireless stuff to scan. Which is odd, since you can copy something by pressing the easy to find "copy" button on top of the printer itself. The "print" and "scan" functions don't do diddly squat if you press them on the printer, you HAVE to use the unfriendly and densely laid out canon software. You may also print from the application itself (MS Word or text edit), but scanning is a single method as far as I can see.-Ink doesn't last that long! Although it's not terrible (ahem*HP*ahem) in it's longevity, we've already started to run out of black ink after only 2 months of moderate printing (maybe 100 pages, tops).Refills haven't been ordered yet, so I can't say if the newer cartridges will last longer.So I was going to give it only 3 stars after reading my own comments, but for some reason I really like this printer and can't seem to give it less than 4 stars, especially comparing it to the other crappy HP and Epson printers I've had in the past.

By way of background, I build computers, fix computers, set up small networks, yada yada.This thing is a nightmare to set up for wireless use. I have wasted the better part of two weekends on this thing. When you read the manual, you literally follow dozens of steps, get bounced from page to page, and AFTER HOURS OF CONFUSION AND FRUSTRATION, I finally got the wifi printing working in part by using a bunch of obscure codes that keyed in using the "Color" button on the unit.So my iphone finds my network and communicates with it automatically, but a printer needs hours of setup?BUT WAIT, THE SCANNER STILL DOESN'T WORK! The scanner would start scanning then stop working and give an error message. I noticed MANY other people had similar problems online, and I tried several of their solutions including the famous USER ACCOUNT solution, the less common INCOMPATIBLE WINDOWS FILE solution, and a couple other solutions. Needless to say, there were multiple sessions of uninstalling drivers and software, searching for latest versions, reinstalling, restarting etc... ALL TO NO AVAIL.In twenty years of mucking about with computers, I have never had an experience like this! Canon is a reputable world-wide company? Really?Guess what finally "worked" if you can call it that? THIRD PARTY SCANNING SOFTWARE that cost $40.00! Apparantly some guy working out of his garage makes more reliable software for this scanner than Canon does! The only reason I didn't send it back was because I've already wasted enough time on this thing, and I finally got it to "work."

I think you are getting a lot of printer here for this price. I didn't want to spend a lot for a second printer to use downstairs wirelessly with two of my laptops. This little Canon fits the bill perfectly and has operated flawlessly so far.I had some trouble with the first laptop in getting the software installed off the CD. I finally had to go online and find the software from the website, so that was a bit of a hassle because each different component had to be installed separately. I had no idea what all I needed to I just made an executive decision and chose the drivers and a few of the others. All went well in that regard.The software installed from the CD just fine on the other computer, so I cannot blame the CD. I have no idea why it wouldn't load on the newer computer.As an extra printer, I enjoy the compact appearance. It has a vertical paper feed on the top back of the unit and you need to open up to slide in paper. It doesn't take a really large amount of paper, but plenty for casual jobs. You also open up an area in the front for the printed pages to exit the unit. Both of those close up to make it a nice tidy-looking unit.I find the ink to be much less expensive than that for my other All In One wireless (Lexmark), so that is nice. I also like that you can get XL cartridges (double capacity) for such a great price. For some reason, the XL version of the color cartridge says it is not compatible here at amazon but according to Canon it is compatible, FYI. I can buy both cartridges in the XL version for less than one of the cartridges I need for my other printer. I wouldn't want to have purchased an additional printer for convenience only, just to have it expensive to run.I'm not having a noise problem. Yes, there are some low sounds when it operates but nothing alarming and nothing that would wake somebody up even if they were sleeping in the same room (the puppy, however, likes to bark at it to protect me from it. heh).Over all I would definitely recommend this printer if you are looking for something very inexpensive, but effective and from a top notch brand name. I really don't have any complaints except that the glossy finish picks up dust and puppy hair. I just keep it covered when not in use and that takes care of that. For the price it is a perfect auxiliary printer - very impressive. I don't think I would use a printer in this price/feature range for a workhorse but, for moderate home use, it gets the job done.

High volume printing is clearly not the strong point on these type of economy printers, however this printer is particularly worse than what i am used to. Ink cartridge durability is very poor (even with canon's XL cartridge), and its ability to crank through 50 color prints with about 60% coverage was a failure with fading colors and streaking on about 90% of the pages printed. The first 8 or so looked OK, but after that the cartridge output took a dip.For single pages here and there printing is more than sufficient with this machine. I just expected a little bit better from one of the leaders.

Had I known that engineers at GREEDY CANON with a lust for profit designed this printer I would have NEVER purchased it. I've used this model for just around TWO MONTHS and EVERY ONE of the expensive color cartridges just went dry today .... EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEVER PRINTED IN COLOR! What a racket GREEDY CANON is running. And if you think you can just print in monochrome, forget about it. GREEDY CANON designed their printers to not work AT ALL unless EVERY ONE OF THE EXPENSIVE COLOR CARTRIDGES has sufficient ink in them. Once an expensive color cartridge is "empty" the printer will NOT WORK until you put in ANOTHER EXPENSIVE COLOR CARTRIDGE--EVEN IF YOU ARE ONLY NEEDING TO PRINT IN BLACK INK!!! I guess this is GREEDY CANON's way of saying "thanks" to their customers .... by scamming them out of their hard-earned money with expensive color cartridges they don't even get to use!!! So if you have LOTS of money to burn on expensive ink cartridges that you don't even get the benefit of using, this (or any other GREEDY CANON printer) is your machine! No more GREEDY CANON products for me! I thought this was a "good" company, but I am able to admit that I was absolutely WRONG!

It prints, it's quick, and it doesn't jam or get confused. It's a basic printer, the manual duplex printing works fine, and it seems to be pretty good with ink. A few months in and I'm just now finishing up the small starter ink that comes with the printer.

I've always been and HP printer person and tried out a few of the newer HP's before returning them and buying the Canon MX882. I shopped around for some time, decided to purchase the Canon Mx882 and definitely made the right choice. I've had this printer for close to a year now and it is fast, reliable, with very good quality. I highly recommend this printer, but I do agree with others that it does use ink at a fast rate.
