Once I realized I needed my router information to program the printer, I was able to install it by myself and I'm a SENIOR citizen. Besides regular printing, I've used it to print colored 4x6 pictures and they came out great. I'm so happy that I purchased this printer.

This printer was the update to my Canon MP620 which has been a great all-in-one. I thought the update might even be better - wrong. Print quality was awful and even after paying an "expert" to try to get a better picture quality it was no where near what the MP620 could do. Sent it back.

I've had this printer for several months now and it is working fine. It has good print quality, all the features I need and it works intuitively avoiding the need to read a manual. Sorry about the guy who thinks it ran out of ink too fast. I find it about average in use of ink.I'd recommend this printer for "casual use" which is how I use it. My previous two HP printers were terrible and both broke well before I would expect the useful life of a personal printer. I'll never buy another HP.

I have used The Canon MP560 All in One printer for about a month to print both black and white and color. I use the color mostly to print greeting cards. This printer has performed flawlessly. It does everything it claims to do without any problems. The only critique I have about this printer is replacement ink cartridges are not yet readily available in stores.

I got this printer as a gift. The only part I didn't like is I had to go out and buy a USB cable to hook it to my computer since I dont have a router for the wireless feature since you cant use an "ad-hoc connection". Which establishes a direct connection to the computer over a wireless connection without using and access point (router) is NOT supported.

I have owned this printer for about one month. It is now priced about $15.00 less than when I bought it. Canon has reduced the capacity of ink in the cartridges by about 1/2, yet the cost is near the same as the older 3e cartridges. Ink cost is therefore about double my old Canon printer. The performance of the printer is great. Fast spooling of color print jobs. Photos print out very good. Setup was very easy. I am not using the wireless option as I don't have a router.

We have owned this printer for over a year. We print photo's from both the Canon camera's memory card and from the software that came with the printer. The printer photo prints from the memory card are far better quality than from the Canon software program. This printer goes through ink cartridge's very rapidly. I can't give you a page total for printing color photo prints or black on white text print. We print all of our copies in grayscale and the black ink still seems to flow through the printer rapidly and we wait until the cartridge is totally empty before replacing it. We use Canon ink cartridges not OEM knock offs. I had used other companies ink cartridges in the other photo printer we had and they caused the inks to run together and it was hard to keep the print head clean. That plus some of them gave false 'out of ink' messages. All in all we are very happy with the print quality on the PIXMA MP810 Canon printer. Ours is wired via a dual USB port switch and not wireless.

After my first experience, and a very negative one, with online purchasing of a physical item, I am pleased with this Canon S520 printer. It replaces one I have used for the past eight years with considerable satisfaction. This model prints well and, most importantly, the ink for this ink jet printer is one of the lowest priced on the market. All cables were included with the printer. The only criticism I have was that the seller did a rather poor job of packing it. With so little packing material to protect the printer, it is surprising that it made it to my address intact and functioning. As it was, the box was half open. All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase.

UPDATE: Quote from L. Spake..."Canon would love you buy their tanks every time they go low, but you can refill them yourself; but you must turn off the print monitor because the printer thinks it's tanks are empty even though you've refilled them.Do it this way: 1) go to "maintenance" tab on print properties 2) select "View Printer Status" from the bottom 3) Click "Option" and deselect "Enable Status Monitor" -- That Simple!"I'm happy to say, it works! My printer prints again! In colour, no less! Thank-you L. Spake. I would definately now like to change my rating to 4 stars. (Anyone have any idea how I do that on the edit screen?).I still have a beef with Canon's decision to have the ink monitor cease all printing, simply because it perceives the ink cartridges are low, but at least I now know how do deal with it. ^_^My original review continues below. The MP530 scans great. I've no complaint there. It prints great; when it decides to.I've had this multifunction for many months now (6, 8?) and rarely use it to print. I bought it to replace my old HP printer and even older OpticPro scanner. Reviews were favourable, and they even mentioned it was the most cost effective printer when it came to ink (in terms of cost/page). Ink cartridges were separate, so I'd only need to replace the low ones. (Something I loathed about the HP, having all the colour inks in a single cartridge.)What a load of BS.I've probably printed less than 100 sheets of b&w text in all the time I've had it. I may have made 3 or 4 colour pages when it was new, for fun, but that's about it. As near as I can tell, the ink cartridges have a chip, or a timer on them or something. From the moment the first dreaded "Low Ink" warning popped up for one colour cartridge, to all five of them being "low" was less than a month. After the first warning, I can say with 100% certainty, that I never printed anything but b&w text. Now all five cartridges are "empty" and it won't print anything. The last page it printed came out beautiful, with crisp, dark text. It didn't seem low to me. The HP would at least show subsequent pages, after the initial "low ink" warning, definitely running out of ink; but not before I could get another 5-10 pages out.Now rather than buying any new ink, I'm tempted to put the money for ink towards buying a colour laser.I'm especially ticked about this because initially I really liked the MP530. Having separate ink cartridges makes alot of sense. Now I just get the feeling that the folks who engineered the MP530 were thinking about the customer, whereas the pinheads who developed the cartridges and or drivers were thinking about the corporate coffers.(Please IGNORE my original conclusion: "Sad to say, but avoid this turkey.")UPDATE: Highly Recommended, but be sure to disable the low ink monitor as discussed at the beginning.

Summary:If your goal is to print pictures you can get faster/better printers. If your goal is true multifunction and cheap initial cost and low 'cost per page' -- this one is great and does pictures 'OK' too.Pros:* Cost per page back ink is on par with laser printer (at the time I purchased)* Cost for the printer at Amazon was $50 off the price of anywhere else (at the time I purchased)* Cost per page for color ink is cheaper than cost per page in black and white ink (got this info from a computer review magazine comparing multiple printers -- I can't find it online or I would put a link here -- sorry)* Duplexing uses the cheaper color ink even if in black and white mode (I think this is because the color ink is designed to dry faster so it won't smear on the inner rollers when duplexing)* I *think* draft mode also uses the cheaper color ink. (I think the more expensive black ink is reserved for the higher DPI needed for sharp text)* paper tray keeps the dust off of your paper when not printing* was able to get faxing working over VOIP (vonage - not officially supported but I did get it to work)Cons:* Couldn't get copy enlargement to work -- probably is my misunderstanding of how to use it.* There are better printers out there for color photo printing (Info from same magazine article I mentioned above)* This is a much larger unit than my last Canon printer which was just a printer and not a multifunction.* Other reviewers have reported this printer will not attempt to print faxes or do other functions when you are low or out of ink -- be sure to keep spare ink cartridges handy.Note: The little ink refill shops sell a refillable 'chipped' Cannon cartridge so if you really want to use refills you can. But as I mentioned above - cost per page rivals a laser printer so unless you are a publishing shop you will probably be happy with new Canon cartridges and won't have the worry of gumming up the works with inferior quality ink.Details:Someone who's opinion I respect suggested my getting a laser printer for cheap ink costs, but laser printers also eat energy with the heating drum and cost a lot more to begin with. This this inkjet printer has such affordable ink (even buying cartages new from Canon) that is is cheaper to use than most laser printers for black and white printing -- on top of that - color printing is cheaper than black and white printing? nice. When I refer to 'ink costs' I am referring to 'cost per page'. The second thing to note is the ink cartridges are individual so you don't have to buy some huge expensive cartridge when only one color has run low (The HP units I tried had the colors all in one cartridge)I use VOIP (vonage) for my phone line over Verison FOIS -- I called vonage and had them break up the packets for my account as small as possible, then turned up the quality of line settings and then set the fax to lowest speed on the MP530 -- now I can send/receive faxes with this unit over VOIP.I bought this one about 6 months ago through a great deal on amazon and have been using it with windows (Compaq laptop) and apple machines (Intel Mac Pro) The only issue I have right now when i place an item and choose 'copy' and then 'enlarge/reduce' and select 'fit to page' and 'OK' it does not change to 'auto' in the LCD window as the manual states it should.I have had both HP and canon (and old matrix Epsons..) printers and the Canons never disappoint in quality and cost of ink.Enjoy!

This printer is worth every penny I've spent on it. I haven't used a printer at home in years and seeing this photo printer at a good price, I jumped on the deal. Canon has yet to disappoint me. Just weeks earlier, I went to Target to print out some digital pictures from their Kodak kiosk (the ones they print out instantly). I was utterly disappointed because of dull colors and streak marks and never thought a quick print photo would look as nice as the 1-hour photos. But after testing the iP90v with Canon Photo Paper Glossy Plus II, I'm very satisfied that it's very close to lab quality photos. The colors are very slightly dull but it can be adjusted. Some might ask, with the cost of the paper and ink, it's still cheaper to do 1-hour photo processing. But as I have noticed, if you have a set of photos where you want not just the standard 4x5, you may want a couple 5x7 or 8x11 or even 2x3 photos, the 1 hour-photo may not be able to do that for you. Or if they did, the price of photo processing will start going up exponentially. It's the convenience, and flexibility (allowing no borders, with white borders, 4 images on a 4x6, etc.) while offering near lab-quality photos that makes this printer so great!

It's a great printer for $79. I replaced an older Canon. I would like to make you aware that if your volume of color printing is medium to high you could spend five times as much on cartridges as you did on the printer, per year. All the printer manufacturers give you the printer so that you will buy ink cartridges. If you don't want to be a slave to the printer manufacturers REFILL YOUR CARTRIDGES. YOU WILL SAVE A FORTUNE. Even a moderately mechanically inclined individual can do it. There are a half a dozen web sites that will step you through.

I have been using this all-in-one since May 2007. It is the best printer/scanner I have ever used. No problems, excellent results scanning prints & negatives, and printing stuff like web pages, emails etc. - I don't use the Canon to print large photographs - and I have a seperate 4x6 photo printer. I guess I am a light user of the printer, since I have only gone thru 2 or 3 sets of ink packs in ~18months.I chose this printer based on good reviews and the fact that you can replace each ink as it runs out, instead of the HP models where you had to replace the multi-color cartridge if any one color runs out.The ink replacement is very user friendly (the empty ink cartridge lights up, and easily snaps out & in). No problems with the ink errors mentioned by other reviewers. My only complaint is the outrageously high and continuously increasing cost of the ink packs. The last time I bought a set of inks it was $66. Now it's up to $74 . This is way too expensive for ink. And apparantly, if you use a more reasonbly priced substitute, the printer won't "recognize" it.Canon has excellent brand recognition and good reviews on their products. I just hope their marketing people get their heads out of their a#$es and bring the price of the ink down. They are handicapping the product with their pricing, since the only problems with their printers stem from ink cartridge errors & ink cartridge pricing.

Easy setup with software disk enclosed on VISTA software laptop, also comes with both color and black ink (some brands do not have black ink so must order). Placed in daughter's college dorm, has a somewhat large footprint for dorm room desk, but works well. If you get for student also get an extra black ink and don't forget a ream of paper. For daughter only drawback is that must open front printer door to get printed output which takes up a little more desk area.

At $15 for a cartridge, that's ridiculous! If you have $60 a month you can throw away on ink, then by all means buy this printer. On a positive note, if you ever accidentally kick it in the middle of the night and it flies off of your desk on to the floor, it will work in the morning.

The ip90 promised to be an excellent printer, and for the time it worked, it was. However, within printing a few dozen pages under normal use (and I stress the word normal - it wasn't banged about or otherwise damaged) the printer became incapable of feeding pages in straight and would pull them in at an angle causing the printing to be skewed. No amount of adjusting the amount of paper or hand aligning would alleviate the problem.Eventually I took it to the Canon repair centre and after they repaired it, within a few days, the text became misaligned, printing one pixel to the left about every five centimetres down the page. This may not seem like much, and if you're printing text it may not be much (though it will certainly be noticeable) but if you print any graphics or lines it will be painfully obvious. The print utility program could not fix the problem and the cost of repair came to close to what a new printer would cost! (By now the warranty had expired and I had printed less than 200 pages!)For the money you spend, plus the exorbitant cost of the ink cartridges, it simply is not worth the aggravation, if you need a mobile printer, its likely you need things to work without suddenly breaking.Sadly for me I need a portable printer, but I've recently replaced my useless canon ip90 with a new HP H470 Office Jet Mobile Printer. No complaints, it works great, far less fragile than the ip90, would strongly recommend the HP H470 Office Jet Mobile Printer.

I did not buy this from Amazon. Over the years Amazon and I have had a wonderful company/customer relationship. I don't want this review to damage that. This review is a warning to other customers. We purchased this lemon from Staples. Once the warranty period was over the fun began. We found out that we could not buy replacement ink cartridges from my favorite store in Maryland because Canon has fixed it so that a small chip on the front of the ink cannister has to be removed from the old cannister and placed on the new. I followed the ink sellers instructions on the super-sized blank ink cartridge. It was generally easy to remove the chip from one and place it on the other (care must be taken). The machine worked. Fine. It is my wife's machine. So be it. The price was too good. I should have known. This morning the machine started emitting all kinds of warning sounds. When we opened it up, the magenta cartridge (still the original) was not lit. When all is well, the cartridges emit as soft red comforting glow. My wife has mechanical experience and is not afraid to "get into it". She removed the cartridge and replaced it. No go. She did everything again in sequence (there was plenty of ink in the cartridge). She called me. I exchanged the chip from the offending cartridge to a new OEM which we had purchased from the company in Maryland. No go. At this point, I offered her my Epson. She refused the offer and decided to open the first of two EMERGENCY packs of ink which we had purchased at BJ's Club for about $50. When the machine tasted Canon's mother's milk, it quieted down and began printing. My wife now has a machine that prints, sucks down ink, and delivers RED HANDS. Somehow I expect that this will happen again in the future. Didn't we all do this years ago with Macrovision? Wasn't Sony quietly installing anti-copy software on its on its CDs which destroyed the sound of late? When will this insanity end? Already I know that I will be replacing the black monster cartridge again soon. This next time, will I be able to use the OEM replacement; or be forced to bleed out money to CANON for their ink. Beware this printer. Stick with Epson or HP........anything else. Tony Genco

This is my seoond Canon printer - the price keeps dropping and the quality of the prints keeps improving. The ink utilization is frugal. I have found the 4 ink cartridge system is much easier (and cheaper) for me as a home user than the 7 cartridge printer I had previously.Color quality and saturation on photo paper or normal printer paper is easily controled via the print driver software preferences.I run the printer as "shared" on a home network and an easily print from any one of 6 computers hardwired or WI-FI throughout the house (of course the host computer is on 7x24 hours all year anyway since it serves as my incoming fax. This is a great home or low capacity, but moderate print speed printer for the low price.Bruce Cole

This product has yet to work properly. When it arrived, one of the color cartridges had a broken tab. The LCD was set in German. It failed immediately with a flashing alarm light and a "check printer" on the LCD. Canon support shipped me a replacement promptly. I bought a cartridge locally to replace the one with a broken tab. The replacement printer scanner fax worked very well for one week. One morning I turned it on and the alarm light was flashing and the "check printer" message was on the LCD. I contacted Canon support and they thought a full printer cartridge replacement might fix the problem. That didn't fix the problem, so they are sending me a second replacement. Canon support has been outstanding. I think I am just a victim of bad luck. I'm waiting for the second replacement to arrive this week.It is now April 9. The second replacement arrived. I have been using the printer and scanner now for one month and am satisfied with the quality of the color and clarity of the pictures printed by this machine. Hats off to Canon Support!

There were no cables included. Clearly the seller was hoping to unload a defective printer. In order to get a refund, I had to ship it back to the seller at my own expense. And because it was selling for $100, I had to insure it. Thus I was out a little over $20 on this purchase.

And I have been having the same smearing problem that another reviewer commented on. The pictures are of such bad quality that I don't bother to print photos anymore. I only use this printer to print documents now. I hope to replace it with a much better quality photo printer soon.

The print quality is much less than I expected, but I guess for the price I paid, it will do for basic black and white printing.

If you read the reviews on the Canon i950, you'll see the early reviews are generally positive, but the later reviews are generally negative as the printheads started failing a year or two later. I can vouch for that. My i950 was a great printer for about 2 ? years, but then I was having to do the deep cleanings more and more often to keep the print quality at an acceptable level. Lots of wasted ink and wasted paper.I finally decided to retire the old printer and get a new one. I did quite a bit of research on Canon, HP and Epson printers in the $150-$300 price range. I even looked at the "pro" printers from Canon and HP, but I just couldn't swallow the $500-$600 price tag. What finally pushed me into the 6900d was two things. First, it got pretty good reviews across the board, and second, Staples had it on sale for $129 ($179 with a $50 rebate-sorry Amazon). A high quality, name brand photo printer for $129? I couldn't pass on that.Set up was extremely easy. From opening the box to printing my first photo was less than 15 minutes, and that included a 4 minute printhead alignment that the printer runs as part of the set-up process. Instructions for setting up the printer itself were clear and accurate, and the software installed easily with no hassles.Photo quality is very good. I printed out several 4 x 6's and a couple of 8 x 10's, and they look great. Color is accurate, and saturation seems about where it should be. This is with absolutely no adjustments, except for putting the print quality on high. Speed is fine. I knocked out the 4 x 6's in well under a minute, and the 8 x 10's in a little over a minute.I won't comment on the LCD screen or the built in card reader, because I will never print any photo without cropping and editing in Photoshop. If you like to take your card right out of your camera and print your photos right away, then I guess you'll enjoy these features.Obviously I can't comment on the longevity of the printer since I've only had it for a short while. I did consider whether to buy another Canon due to the printhead problems I had with my i950, but at the end of the day, if you read enough reviews, you realize that every printer brand seems to have its own problems and issues. The way I looked at it, for $129 this is like a disposable item. If I can get 2-3 good years out of it, then I'll be happy and ready to move on to the next printer.A couple of words of advice....if you are a discriminating photo enthusiast, do use Canon inks and Canon paper. It really does make a difference. I've seen a few people comment that they used off brand paper or ink, and the results were "close enough". Well "close enough" is not good enough for me. I notice a significant difference in the print quality. The good news is that I tried the Canon Photo Pro paper (very expensive) and the Canon Photo Plus Glossy (pretty cheap considering you can buy 120 4 x 6's for around $15 here at Amazon), and the difference is virtually indistinguishable. In fact, I printed out 2 identical photos with each kind of paper on the 6700d, and I asked people if they could tell the difference. Most couldn't, and a few even said that they thought the cheaper paper had the better quality. Unless your experience is different than mine, load up on the cheaper paper. The bottom line is that this is a very good photo inkjet printer, for a pretty reasonable price.

Over all I'm pleased with the product. It meets my needs. The only problem is I can't get one of my laptops to connect no matter what I do. The laptop sees it but won't connect.
