This camera is the next generation in Canon's Powershot family. Let me start by saying that I have not bought this model, but that this cautionary note is based on a significant flaw in the design of the S400 which I have. I don't believe this flaw has been corrected in this updated model.I bought an S400 and used it for seven months. I was very happy with it. At that point, however, it stopped working without warning. When I sent it in to the factory service center, I discovered something very troubling about the camera that had I known earlier would have caused me to not purchase it.It turns out that this model--as well as many other Canon digital cameras, the tech told me--has an aluminum body. If you subject the camera to temperature changes (and it only takes a change of 10-15 degrees, I was told) condensation will form inside the camera, and the camera will start to corrode, eventually rendering it unusable. This is what had happened to me. What misuse had I subjected my camera to that caused this to happen? I took it on vacation to the beach with me. Carrying it from the hot and humid beach into an air conditioned car was enough to destroy the camera! The tech told me that he sees this all the time. He didn't know the percent of all Canon cameras that suffer this fate, but he said a lot of them do. He told me he gets lots of cameras back from people who have taken them on vacation to Arizona, Mexico, and Hawaii. He even saw one that had stopped working because the owner kept it stored in a stuffy closet. When the owner eventually took it out to use it, the temperature change back to normal room temperature was enough to fry the camera. I was told that this damage is not covered under warranty and that the manual cautions users not to subject their cameras to this sort of treatment. Canon will not provide service on cameras that suffer this fate. If this happens to your camera during the waranty period you're basically out of luck. You lose the investment you made in the camera and any peripherals that you bought.I hope anyone interested in purchasing a Canon digital camera will learn from my very expensive mistake in purchasing one. See the review section for the S400 on Amazon.com for even more stories from people who have had this same problem.What I said about the S400 holds true here as well. The camera is very nicely designed, but it's poorly engineered. If you plan to use the camera indoors only this is a great model. But if you plan to use the camera both outdoors and indoors, if there is a difference in humidity and temperature between the two where you live, and if you don't want to run the risk of totally losing your investment in the camera, this isn't the model or brand for you.

This is probably the most incredible & durable piece of electronic equiptment I've ever owned. It's like the Bunny in the battery commercials....keeps going...and going...and going.I save on ink by buying bulk ink and refilling the black ink containers with a syring, rotating 3 of these. I have only had to replace the printer head 1 time. I have used the parallel cable for my connection, but will try the infrared with my new computer. Previously (3 years ago) , the infrared connection would not work...but likely due to new drivers, etc. Truly one TOUGH road warrier printer!

This little printer fits in great with my family's nomadic lifestyle! I was primarily looking for a portable photo-printer, and this just slips into a shoulder bag alongside my camera and 12" laptop. I'm blown away by the quality of prints I can get so quickly and easily at this price, and the text quality is excellent, too. I would have liked to have some accessories included (especially a USB cable!) but the price is right and I can always get the battery and bluetooth-adapter later. I really like everything about this printer, and the fact I can have it with my laptop wherever I go is a huge bonus for me. Oh, and it's quiet!

Like so many others, I experienced the memory card error. It renders the camera unuseable. I have contacted Canon and, thus far, they are not willing to do anything about it. I would strongly advise AGAINST buying this camera, because it seems likely (if not a sure thing) that your camera will stop working after only a short while -- for me, it was about 16 months.

Even if someone offers to give you this printer for free, don't take it. I wasted $100 on it. I think I got about 10 copies before the black ink cartridge ran out. It never feeds the paper correctly, constant paper jams. Visiting the Canon website and following all of their troubleshooting steps has not worked. I threw this thing away. The scanner works OK but that's about it.

I was able to put up with the redeye and slow speed of this camera because it was pretty small. That all changed when the warranty ran out and the camera started giving the dreaded "memory card error" and wouldn't take pictures or let me look at existing pictures. I tried reformatting the card using a PC but that didn't help, so I finally sent the camera back to Canon, thinking surely they would fix it for little or no charge. Much to my dismay, I got an estimate for $155, which is Canon's fixed price repair charge. They said I could buy a refurbished S410 for $195, which was just as outrageous, since I knew those cameras have the same problems as the S400. I refused to give Canon any more of my money and they sent the camera back. I am going to try one more thing to fix the problem, new batteries. If that doesn't work, I'm going to join a class action lawsuit against Canon. I found the following information on another website:"If you would like to join the Lawsuit against Canon for "Memory card error" OR "E18" error CALL ATTORNEY JIM SMITH AT NO COST TO YOU REGARDING THE E18 ERROR. THERE IS A POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION SUIT.HIS NUMBER IS 1-877-667-9489."

I've owned this camera for 2 years now, back then it was $370. After about 1 1/2yrs it started giving me a memory card error on the screen. I thought it was my CF card and luckily I work for a computer parts manufacturer, took it into work and had tech support look at it. They RMA'd the CF card and gave me a new one but found nothing wrong with it. After googling the error I found many sites of many users' complaints of the same issue.I tried to make it work, found a trick where if I took out the CF card and battery and put back in it would solve the problem sometimes. But the error got more and more frequent and now it's just sitting collecting dust. $370 down the drain! I throught it would take me further than 2 years. Tried to contact Canon about the issue, they don't do anything for you.Now that the prices of digcams have dropped so much I'm looking into buyin another one since I have a lemon on my hands, but I'm staying away from CANAON!

This was my first digital camera that I have ever bought, and I am completely satisfied with it. Talk abt the resolution or the camera's feature. All of it is packed into one small sleek camera. I recommend this digital camera to everybody. And I would say if I would decided later in future to get another one. I would alwayz go for Canon. They are the best in making Digital Cameras.

I foung the Canon PIXMA iP90 Printer to be very easy to use. Easy to set up and very convenient to carry with my laptop.I bought it to go on a weekend where I would need a printer.I was very impressed. It worked so good and held up to the amount of printing that I had to do. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought the Canon S500 just before a trip of a lifetime earlier this year. This camera was brilliant while travelling around Australia Asia and the Middle east. The scenic photos I took came out beautifully the colours were vibrant, I couldn't complain. Ironically I make it back home with camera but that's when it all goes wrong.The camera was knocked off a side table onto a carpet floor; the lcd screen still came up but that was about it, no photos were taken, none of the buttons to change the settings worked,you couldn't play back images or anything. Sending it off to Canon didn't help either. Although Camera was still within the warranty, it would cost a minimum of $150 (no matter what is wrong with these cameras it seems 150 bucks is the standard fee) to fix as the knock to the camera wasn't covered in the warranty. It just didn't seem worth it to pay that much to fix a camera when I could get a new one for a similar price.Prior to owning the S500 I'd owned the S300. This camera lasted about 3 years (I upgraded to the S500 for the better megapixels and new functions) and it was not as delicate as the S500, it went all over the world and wasn't always in a camera case and operated perfectly, it's ownly fault was it was superceded by newer models. I know camera's are delicate machines but I expected the S500 to hold up a bit better than this. I hope the SD500 has had some of these kinks ironed out

Don't buy this camera!!! Prone to "Memory Error" & E18 errors after warranty is up. Cost min $150 plus shipping to fix.This camera was great until 23 months went by then I started mysteriously losing pictures due to file format errors. I switched memory cards and it happened again. Then the "memory error" displayed after a month or so of losing pictures. Now it doesn't work at all. I called canon to see what type of service could be provided and if they would fix what appears to be a factory defect since so many people have reported this problem. Minimum cost is $150 or I could upgrade to a refurb S500 for $199 w/6 month warranty. They have to be kidding, $250 get me a new one. For what appears to be common problem I was expecting more from canon. Guess I won't be buying another canon.Google this "Canon "Memory Error" E18" and see for yourself that Canon cameras have problems.

This is very nice printer I must say...Prints fast, quiet, and sharp. I guess the only gripe would be no printer cable included, I mean who sells a printer without a cable?? But all u gotta get is a regular usb cable..... won't cost u anything..

Have had this printer about 15 months. It worked fine for the first twelve months, now out of warranty and, depite many, many attempts at changing cartridges, cleaning and re-aligning print heads, I can only get magenta to print out stripey. Driving me nuts! Spent ?20 on new cartridges three days ago (because I hadn't used the printer for a while) and still no luck.Can't get to UK Tech Support page, so no help there.Shall I get it repaired or ditch it for something better?

For a portable printer, this one is pretty good. It's faster than I thought it would be.I'v had it for a month and only used it twice. The first one I'd received from Amazon was broken, but they sent out a second one pretty quickly.All in all, I like it's convenient size for traveling. I had also looked at the HP one which is comprable, but thought this one was better on the whole. It doesn't fit very well in my laptop bag...why can't they just build a printer into the laptops, but that's just wishfull thinking....for now.

I bought a Canon S400 digital camera on 03/12/04. The last time I was able to take pictures with it was 09/29/05. The LCD indicates the camera has a "Memory Card Error." I tried 6 different compactflash cards. Same error. I enjoyed this camera while I had use of it but now it is completely useless. I called Canon customer service earlier tonight but they offered no remedies other than to pay more money to fix the defective product or to buy another refurbished camera at more than half of the cost of the original camera (and with an abbreviated warranty of only 6 months). A web search is quite revealing - I am astonished at the number of people who have experienced the same problem and heard the same response. And I am amazed that Canon has not taken responsibility for what is obviously some design defect. From a business standpoint, they are taking a great risk ... they are losing customers, me included.

Most of the Canon PIXMA printers use 15ML Ink Cartridges, larger than other brands. Non-Canon replacement cartridges can be had cheaply at 77ink.com and many other sites.The iP6000D is a six color model, which will give better picture quality, but will be a little more expensive on ink, but not much a problem with cheap ink available. Four color models will cost less to ink, but the iP6000D has features that make it worth the extra cost. These include a view screen and a card reader; these allow you to edit and print pictures without using your computer. The only thing missing is a parallel print port, you're stuck with USB.The iP6000D weighs a hefty 16 lbs. probably due to the heavy duty paper handling equipment. Some of Canon 4 color models weigh 15 lbs. and probably have the same paper handling equipment, however there are some cheap 7 lbs. models you should not buy. Do not buy ink jets with multiple color cartridges or smaller single color cartridges.

The original battery that came with the camera (Canon S500) gave out after over 1 year of use. I ordered 2 of the OEM batteries through Amazon. They appeared to be the same as the original but they would not hold a charge over 24 hours. I returned them and Amazon sent me 2 replacements. I am having similar problems with these also. I must carry my charger with me at all times.

I liked the printing quality of this inexpensive printer, and the price of the ink for it can't be beat. However, this model printer seems to have some trouble after about a year and a half on average; it refuses to print in black. I'm a college student, black ink is a necessity. At this point, I don't know if a new head will work out, though it does print color ink. I'm actually trying to find some user reviews now to let me know if replacing the print head will work. Pity--I have tons of cartridges from 123 inkjets for it. I knew it probably wouldn't last long, considering the price, and I did get a refurbished one--not off this site. I paid around 60.00 including shipping and handling for it almost 2 years ago. Didn't expect it to putter out this soon, though. And, just in time for mid-term papers. Yaaay! Now, I have to find another canon model that takes the same ink cartridge.

I needed to replace a lost S4oo we had for about a year. Looked at the SD series and thought them too small for comfort. There is such a thing as too thin to handle comfortably. The S500 is, like the S400, just right in size. Big area on back for thumb so you an even one-hand hold it. Try that with any SD. Pictures are excellent for a hand-held. Not Nikon N70 film SLR good, but plenty good enough for any snapshot purpose. Bought one of last new S500's available at NewEgg abd very, very happy with it.

This 4 pound printer is great. It's a bit pricy, but then most portables are. There are two things about this printer that I really like. First of all, it's fast. Second, the text looks pretty good and the color graphics are very good. Don't buy any other printer that's slower. You will be frustrated! I've only had this printer a short time but so far am very pleased. Fast output and no paper jamming!!! One thing, the extra-cost battery is expensive, but if you need it, it's a wonderful add-on and its charge last quite a long time. I recently used this printer and it's battery all weekend for printing invoices at a show I was doing. Not a problem and at the end of the weekend the battery still had plenty of charge. It was great not having to plug in the printer to electricity. The Canon iP 90 is highly recommended. One other thing: some say the ink cartridges are small and don't last very long. Well, perhaps, but they're not very expensive either.

This printer is of very good overall quality. However, I have a few reservations. Its media slots do not support Fuji's xD cards, and while the individual ink cartridges seem inexpensive, keep in mind that there are 6 cartridges to replace.The black ink cartridge is the same size as the other 5 (color) cartridges. Great for Canon's bottom line, but a pain for the rest of us. I do a moderate amount of printing and it seems as if there's always a cartridge running low.I'm pleased overall with the print quality. My last printer was an old Epson 770 stylus. This is a huge improvement in terms of speed, but I can't help wondering if there's something better out there.In short, a quick printer of very good quality. If you do a lot of printing, I'd recommend searching online for an ink-refill kit, or you'll be running to the office supply store more than you'd like.

This is a great printer, which gives perfect photographs. I use a Canon 10D camera and a Canon N67OU scanner, both give perfect results with this printer. Some things to watch. First, the best prints can only be obtained with Canon paper, which is not as easily available in retail stores as Kodak or HP papers. With glossy paper from non-Canon sources highlights lose their gloss finish. Canon papers do not have this problem. I use two microdisks in my camera. It is possible to print directly from th disks using the type II slot on the printer. One of my disks is 1GB and one is 6GB. I had trouble with the 6GB disk. The printer did not see all the photographs on the disk. Finally, the little LCD screen on the printer is almost useless to even tell the content of an image, never mind its photographic characteristics. It is only good for selecting menu times. it is best to preview all images on your computer and make a note of the images you want to print from the memory card.

I had an Epson 785EPX photo printer and when it worked, the prints were beautiful. However, my printer heads were constantly clogging and I wasted tons of ink cleaning the heads all the time. The ink is not cheap. So, I started researching for a new photo printer. I chose the Canon line because they have a reputation for cheaper ink. I found this to be true when I purchased the Canon i250 to replace another Epson ink hog (the 640) for my general printing. (I keep one printer for general printing, one for photos) The Canon ink cartridges ARE cheaper and last longer. After reading reviews on photo printers I decided between the Canon ip4000 and the ip6000d. The ip4000 got amazing reviews both from consumers and magazines. There weren't a lot of reviews on the ip6000d I suppose because it's newer. I decided to risk buying the ip6000d anyways because I really wanted the media input slot for convenience. I'm here to say the photos are AMAZING and of photo lab quality. I tested using the included Canon Photo Paper Pro and also my leftover Epson Premium Photo Glossy Paper. Both papers produced the same results. The printer unpacked and installed easily. For printing without the computer, the menu/LCD screen on the printer is intuitive and easy to use. For printing through the computer, the software program 'Easy Photo-Print' stands by it's name. A couple of mouse clicks and the perfect print came out. If it matters, my digital camera is a Kodak DX6490. There are two things to watch for while setting up your ip6000d for the first time. Both have to do with loading paper into the cassette tray. Make sure you load the paper PRINT SIDE DOWN and watch out for the little plastic thingy that holds the paper in place. Mine broke off and the spring flew off who knows where. It still works but just moves around easily. Since I just got the printer today I can't comment on long term use or ink usage for sure. I've printed about 10 4X6's so far and 3 of the 6 tanks show a very slim line for usage.

I had this printer for about a year and had no complaints whatsoever. Ink can get a bit pricey but there's always Cartridge World who will refill both tanks for $18. I am on the road a lot and the size is extremely convenient, put it in your bag, get it out in the hotel, and boom, you got yourself a small office. Highly recommended. Hint: It's quite sensitive so don't put it in a bag that you'll check @ the airport. I did that for the 1st time last week, and when I plugged it I had an "out of paper" error even tough the tray was full. Through some research I found out that through bag checkout they had bent a piece that senses for paper, so I just bent it back and the problem was gone!

I bought this for my son for Christmas. When he opened the box on Christams it was broken. Then the real problems began, we never got a reply or refund from Adorama until February 22, 2006. They ingnored our emails, phone calls, etc. Amazon stepped into the picture and contacted them. It still took numerous phone calls and emails to the company to get any satisfaction. I would never deal with this company again.

I own a 20D which I absolutely love and was getting tired of lugging it around and was therefore looking for a good digital point and shoot. My two major candidates were the S500 and the S70.If you follow the photography boards at all you realize that this is a fairly common dilemma - the S500 vs the S60/70. The S60/70 offers excellent manual controls while the S500 is significantly smaller without any manual control whatsoever other than exposure compensation. I just LOVE the look and feel of the S500 though if anything it could be argued that it is TOO small. If you feel it is and you are looking for a carry everywhere camera it is well worth the effort to get used to the small size because the camera takes beautiful pictures.The S500 is simply beautiful. I can live without all the manual controls since I own the 20D and since this camera is primarily for my wife and for me when I don't want to lug the 20D around.Several have pointed out that since this camera is so small it will always be with you whereas the S60/70 would be less likely to be carried along because of its increased size. This is a very good argument! The camera is SUBSTANTIALLY smaller than its bigger brother the S70. The form and size factors are what finally won me over.One criticism of the camera. Low light focusing is less than ideal. You need to work with the camera to understand its limitations indoors. Also, battery life could be better, but that's the price you pay for such a small camera.The sensor size of the S500 is the same as that of the S60 and the S70 - 1/1.8". This is an ideal size for a point and shoot IMO. The 1/2.5" sensor used in the smaller SD series cameras represents a poor image quality trade off. Stick with the larger sensor which give less noise, chromatic aberration, and better image quality.I purchased the leather Elph case which protects the camera well and only adds insubstantially to the bulk. Some have complained that prior iterations of this camera scratch easily. I've owned them and found that if you keep the camera in a case and exercise modest caution that the camera will remain pristine.The pictures are just fantastic! Color saturation is superb and the file size is sufficient that you can crop moderately with little negative impact. Other than in low light the camera locks onto its subject quickly and accurately.One other consideration: The S700 will undoubtedly be hitting the streets soon. It will employ the larger Sony sensor used by the S70 which gives fantastic results. It might be worth your while waiting.I am a huge fan of the Canon cameras and I would advise anyone looking for a camera, whether a point and shoot or a DSLR to carefully consider the Canon line since, in my opinion, Canon currently represents the state of the art.

bought this one for my brother and i'll tell ya, this is one heck of a printer, the quality is great. i catch myself using it more then my own epson.and since my epson has crapped out one me, im looking into buying a MP130 for myself now.as for the ink, i dont use it enough or buy ink for it so i dont know how long it last and what not.

I purchased my S400 about 18 months ago. Memory Card Error started showing up a month ago....lost a handful of pictures due to the error.Called Canon - they told me that it was likely that one of the pins was loose. Not that I can tell. When I told them that I had researched this issue on line they said that all cameras have issues with these pins. I tried to find other complaints on other cameras - nadda.Also was told that if Canon knew something was wrong they would address it. Sounds like they're turning a blind eye here.Nice $400 paper weight. Not going to buy Canon again - I would if they would address the issue (camera was great before this enduring error), but to ignore it? sorry, moving on....

I've seen some great photo ops in my travels, problem is, I never had a digital (or 35mm camera) on me when I needed to capture them. I don't want to travel by air with expensive equipment that the morons at the airport toss around while they trash your carryon, I also don't like the "stupid American tourist, pls pickpocket me" look that an SLR around the neck labels you.Enter the S500, compact flash compatibility with the Canon dSlR's should you ever upgrade, ultraportable for shirtpocket storage, quick startup for those once in a lifetime photo ops, and the accessories are as light and easy to carry as the camera. The only thing missing is a 10x zoom, but with 5mp, you have plenty of pixels available to crop and still get a great "enlarged" shot of the one subject you wanted in the picture.Menus are intuitive if you cut your teeth on canon digital cameras previous to this one, and use other canon digitals besides this one.Cons - old tech in digital camera age. if you are just starting out, look at the other memory media which allow even smaller ultracompacts. Doubt there will be a Canon S700 with compact flash card storage, but if you lug Canon dSLR's around at other times, or plan to upgrade to Canon dSlR's in the future, the memory media standarization with the S500 is a godsend to protect your memory card investment. and the current price of the S500 is a bahgain!

This printer is one that Apple features in its retail stores, so I thought it would be nice to put on my wireless network. I should have gotten something better. This printer has the following problems:1. Awkward driver installation that requires a restart and includes utilities that don't work.2. Default colour profile is really weak on greens and blues. I'm still having trouble getting colours to look right.3. Worst of all: three out of four photo printing jobs simply halt halfway through. I've wasted a pile of expensive photo paper on this printer.Don't buy this printer. Find something more reliable.

I just purchased this printer through Amazon on 2/1/05 and think it is amazing. I wasn't able to find many reviews on this printer through CNet or ePinions.com but decided to purchase it anyways based on what reviews I had read. I am very pleased with my decision!The picture quality is superb, just as good if not better than prints you would receive from a lab. The photography buffs here at work don't beleive I printed them myself!Setup was super easy, but buy yourself a USB cable from an etailer on ebay or somewhere else. I went to my local Radio Shack and they charged $25.00 for a cable I could have purchased online for $7.00 :(Ink is also purchased at low cost online, and having six opaque cartriges versus one or two multi-cartriges will certainly reduce ink replacement costs over time.Back to the printer. I have printed 20-25 pictures so far and cannot begin to tell yo how easy the Canon software is to use. I bought this printer for my wife who wants to convert all our digital pictures into a picture album, so she insisted on buying a high-quality printer that was really easy to use.The software that comes with the printer hits the bullseye. The editing capabilities are only so-so when compared to other software, however printing pictures proved to be really easy for the "PC Challenged" in my household. The software comes with a 3-step process that makes printing high-quality phots a snap.Along with our purchase we bought a 120 pack of Canon high-gloss 4x6 borderless photo paper. This paper has the exact same look-feel, quality as the paper we receive from our local photo lab (Overlake Photo)This printer comes highly recommended from me!

After using this printer for almost two years, I am sadly disappointed in the fact that the color cartridge has only worked for the first 6 months. Since then, I have been unable to get the color option to work.The black cartridge works great but for almost 50.00, I expected a bit more

After owning three other Canon cameras I am through with Canon. All my other cameras were fine. This cameras LCD broke within the first month of normal use. Never dropped! All of my other Digital cameras held up for years. Ive had two powershot s50s 1 lost and 1 stolen. Never had a problem and those were both dropped numbers of times.This is a product defect/design flaw and Canon will not cover it under warranty. $150.00 to get it repaired and It will happen again, or you may start getting the E18 errors. This is a expensive paperweight!Poor design. Very dissapointed. I will never buy another Canon product again.

I really liked this printer while it lasted. It printed color beautifully, though I never did get a chance to test its photo printouts. I print occasionally. Maybe 10-20 pages/week. Unfortunately, after a year, the print head broke on its own. If they had a longer lasting printer similar to this, I would definitely get it.

The SD500 has all of the design problems that the SD300 and SD400 have. The most important problem with these cameras is that the LCD is very fragile.The problem is so bad that Canon's warranty no longer covers the LCD.I bought a SD400 for use on a 2 month trip to Japan. I needed something lighter and easier to carry than the various digital single lens reflex cameras that I normally use.Two days and 123 pictures later I found that the LCD screen was not working. The camera had been exposed to normal every day handling.Best Buy and Canon said that there is no warranty for broken or damaged LCD screens. The bottom line; "Sorry boy, you are SOL."I have used Canon cameras for over 50 years but this experience has, at long last, cured my addiction to Canon.This camera is a Power Shot SD 400 Digital ELPH, Serial # 0723361903.If any one is interested, I can get you a deal on an attractive paper weight.[...]

I have owned several of these canon porable printers and have been happy with them- They are easly porable(fits in my laptop case w/ease) This new does a bang up job of printing even photos Works well right out of the box The blue tooth doesn't work so well and was extra It could hold more paper, as i often have to reload mid printing

When the printer is new and loaded with fresh ink and prints on *Canon* brand photo paper, prints come out great. Take a month or two off from your photo hobby and try again. Presto. Your color ink tanks have dried up - time to shell out $35. Try to print something out a few weeks later. Presto. Your blank ink tank is empty - time to by another. Try using any other brand of photo paper - crappy prints - you must by expensive Canon photo paper. A few weeks/months later, try to print with fresh tanks - zippo. The print head is clogged - buy a new one for $150... no chuck the S520 and buy a new not-Canon printer. But first, try soaking the print head in some isopropyl alcohol overnight, dry thoroughly, and see if it works.

We've had our 6000D for several months now and are thrilled with the results! We don't use the LCD monitor since we have it hooked up directly to our PC, but we like the fact that we COULD print directly from our camera.We have only used Canon papers for printing and have tested both Photo Paper Pro and Photo Paper Plus. Supposedly, the Pro line is their top-of-the-line paper, but we really like the Plus paper better. The Pro paper stays "tackier" while the Plus paper gives you the same quality AND prints that feel just like photo lab prints.You probably will get messages that your ink cartridges are running low LONG before you need to replace them. They've been reminding us for a few weeks, about 50 4x6 prints ago, that a couple of our colors are running low. But thankfully, with the clear plastic wells, you can check for yourself. Brilliant!We can confidently recommend this printer. We've got a baby arriving in 6 weeks and plan to put it to some serious use this fall and winter!

I purchased this so that I could have a printer for college. For the price, it can't be beat. The quality is so-so. I wouldn't suggest using it for printing pictures from digital cameras. The quality is ok, but it won't be a great looking picture.I had very little trouble setting it up. Plug it in, install software, and your good to go 5 minutes later.A definate plus, and the main reason I purchased this, is the fact that print cartridges cost about $5 to get, which is amazing compared to many others printers that will charge $25+ for just black ink. Also, the scanner works great. No problems at all using it and quality is good.I am very pleased with this printer. If I could do it again, I wwould still purchase this same printer(with the same budget, of course).

I've owned many Canon machines, all to my delight and this guy is no different. It just works--and has traveled with me to many places, with no problems at all.It prints amazingly well for a small guy, easy on the ink (they're also fairly cheap cost wise) and most importantly, it's light and small so it goes everywhere I need to be. A bit expensive, but it's neat--and a life saver at times.

I have owned the Canon S500 for 7+ months now and taken over 1000 pictures. I must say that this is a highly capable camera in its class. It's neither too tiny to handle nor big enough so as not to fit in a small pocket. It has more control than a simple point & shoot camera and gives consistently high results.The LCD though small is higher in resolution and it makes it look better than the bigger but grainier LCD's on certain Sony models. Surely, small cameras like these are never comparable to professional ones but i would find it impractical to carry a big SLR everywhere! Pictures taken carefully (i.e. proper conditions and settings), are really capable of standing high among the results of much better cameras.Even though there are newer, sleeker cameras with better video capabilities, I reiterate that when it comes to still picture quality, the S500 is one of the most capable in its size and resolution category. Finally, you must always remember that a camera with (x+1) mega pixels does not necessarily offer superior quality than one with x mega pixels resolution.

i bought this all in one for university use...and its a great deal!! the scanning is pretty fast, and the output quality is commendable....also, ive been able to print black pages very quickly...the printer doesnt seem to have as much of an issue with 'start up time' as some epson models do...a good buyim rating it one lower cuz its slightly on the bulky side...the controls could have been put on the front sides to prevent an awkward control box projecting out of the front of the printer...but all things considerd, its a great buyalso, it has 2 cartridges...so replacement is not goin to empty my pocketoverall - if ur lookin for above normal use, good printing quality and all functions in one, then this is probably the best value for ur money out there

I bought this battery as a backup battery for my Canon S400. I used to have a non-canon battery to serve that purpose - BAD IDEA. The non-canon battery had problems charging & retaining the charge. No problems at all with the Canon NB-1LH.

I LOVE Canon printers and feel that they are the best ink jet printers made for many, many reasons. I have owned all brands, and, truthfully, Canons slipped badly for several years, but in the past year they have zoomed again into the lead. The ip6000D is no exception to the quality build and quality results that Canon printers produce. The problem is that I was needing a CD/DVD printer and all the web info, as well as Canon's own publicity for this printer, their pdf file on this printer, and many sites selling this printer all indicate that it does print CDs/DVDs. Thus, I ordered it from Amazon, my favorite web purchase store. When it arrived, I noticed it had no CD tray and there was nothing in the book about printing CDs or DVDs. I called Canon and they said they were not aware of the printer and would do some research. About 5 minutes later the guy came back and said that the printer WITH THE EXACT SAME NAME had CD printing support in ALL countries except the U.S. I told him that having the same name and number system was absurd with different features. He blew me off. So beware, if you want to print CDs or DVDs, this is NOT the printer to get. But for everything else it is the best choice for home or office and especially for photo printing. With Canon printers, you get amazing quality, cheap refills, no clogging, no chips in the refills, and no paper jams. Without the problem I have cited and all my hours on this issue, it would get 5-stars from me as all recent Canons have. The Epsons and HPs are in a second level and the Lexmarks are at the bottom. I have to go with the Epson Stylus R200 for my CD printing, despite the fact that I did not want to go back to Epson. Amazon, as ususal, accepted my return without hesitation and remain THE kick ass company to do business with.

After an initial seemingly successful install I could not get the printer to remain powered. Followed troubleshooting guide with "no joy". Very erratic behavior/response to plugging in the printer. Sometimes it would show a green light (power) usually not. When it did it would subsequently power off shortly. This may have been a unique experience. I returned the printer for credit.
