after reading about several different printers, i settled for this one and am absolutely amazed at the awesome print quality!!! I've never had a photo image look better than a film processed picture EVER!!!! Every pic turns out great and you can't beat the price of the ink cartridge.. approximately $7 for black and $18 for color.. THE TANKS LAST FOREVER AND I'M used to paying double for my old Lexmark cartridges... THROW YOUR OLD PRINTER IN THE GARBAGE AND RUN TO BUY THIS PRINTER!! AWESOME!!!!!let me address this "noise" issue i've read in other reviews.. this printer is extremely quiet compared to my Lexmark z-22... i wouldn't consider it a loud printer at all... it does shuffle when it's done printing a page, but it's hardly noticeable.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRINTER!!!!!

I bought my sister a Kodak Easyshare CX4230 digital camera for the holidays, so mom thought a good photo printer to accompany it was a good idea. Since my mom isn't that computer literate, she relied on my judgement over which to buy. After LOTS of research, I decided to recommend this printer for several reasons:Being on a budget, the price of this printer was very attractive. I had planned to recommend the more advanced S830, but it was out of range. Also, this printer, like the 830, has the ability to accept mutiple memory card types with the included Dazzle! 4 in 1 card adapter, giving you the ability to print photos straight from through the printer on the LCD screen, without having to even touch the PC. Another thing I liked was the multiple ink tanks. Since this printer would also function as a replacement to an older inkjet, I felt that was a key feature since the old printer had just one cartridge for the colors, while this printer has 3 separate color cartridges. Did I also mention this printer is FAST? It managed to print 2 full color 4x6 photos on 8.5x11 paper in less than 2 minutes, and can print web pages and full color charts in less than 15 seconds. As for the photo printing, the pictures came out looking absolutely beautiful, as far as I was concerned. The qaulity may not be up to par if you're a serious photo enthusiast, but for as far as my family's needs are concerned, they looked just great.Setup was a bit more complicated than any other printer I've had to install, but was problem free. Be warned, though. There's no USB cable included to connect it to the PC. Overall, this is a fabulous printer and I highly recommend it to anyone who's just plunged into digital photography.

Bottomline:If you want a photo printer go with the i950If you want a great all-round printer go with the i850.I owned both the i850 and i950, with the i850 first. The i850 is an great all-round printer printing fast text and photos. Using the Canon photo paper images look great, but simply lack the detail the i950 can provide with 6 inks and almost twice the nozzles and special photo inks. The extra nozzles not only make printing faster (at least for photos) but allow for more detail. On a picture, printed from Photoshop 6.0, that contained lots of details and color, but specifically a tree with multi-colored (shades) of bark - on the i850 the tree looked good with good detail, but on the i950 the tree came to life, was sharper, with more tree/bark detail and color variations becoming visible. There was no question, the i950 was better, noticably for photos. On mixed media (web page with graphics) the i950 and i850 were the same, but for some reason, the i850 was noticably faster. You get a larger black-ink cartridge w/ the i850 presumably favoring its intended role as a excellent all-round printer. If price is an issue, the i850 is the printer for you ... If photo quality is the most important, then the i950 is for you ... Can't make up your mind? Go with the i950, the extra money is worth the results.

I love this printer. It has a small footprint, low cost ink, great print quality, fast print speed, and easy to use printer drivers. I also like the Paper In Tray which can be closed to cover the printer to keep dust out. However, it is much noiser than my old Canon S200 printer. It also takes a while for it to complete its warm-up routing before it actually starts printing. But when it does start printing it is fast. I also noticed that it only has one rubber wheel to feed paper into the printer unlike the S200 which had 2. Thus, there are times when the paper can get fed into the machine a little skewed especially if you are using very thin typing paper. But on the whole I still love this machine.

My first printer was an epsom, which when i bought it in 1998 i was very impressed. when it went to the great printshop in the sky i was looking for something cheap and cheerful to replace it as my expereince showed that all printers were expensive... not the case.after reading a few favourable reviews i opted for the canon 350 which cost me ?69 (+ ?8 for a usb lead) it took me a matter of minutes to install and the results were not just great but wow. to buy a colour and black ink will cost me about ?18 as opposed to the ?40 or so for the epsom. only down side is that it's a little noisey compared to the epsom.to summarise* very cheap printer*Excellent qaulity for any price but for ?69 its as steal!* looks good* cheap ink*cheap printer* well known name* a little noisey ( prepared to put up with it!)*did i mention that it is cheap!

First off this printer is cheap. It was marked as 50 dollars, but I got it free after the rebate(bought it with a laptop).Installation was a breeze. I plugged the usb and power cords into and put the cd in the drive and that was that. I did this on 2 machines running windows xp.One feature I love is that I can put something in my print que, leave it there for hours or days, even turn off my laptop and plug in the usb and out comes my pages I wanted to print.Ink is cheap and I am yet to replace it.The text quality is great for print and it is fast. Images look allright, I am yet to try the photo mode.It is a bit loud, but it has not bothered me, or woke my roommate up at night.Things I may find undesirable about this printer: It feels cheap and is super light weight. It is a bit loud. The lack of a usb cord.

I've had my Canon i250 for about three months and it's worked perfectly. I have gone through two black print cartridges during the time I've had it, but these two ($13) were cheaper to buy than one $30 HP cartridge. Just keep a spare cartridge on hand. Still haven't run out of color yet. Black text is flawless and fast...makes $40-50 HPs look foolish.

I became frustrated with my Lexmark 5700 after 3 years of flawless service. The printouts were excellent and the paper never jammed, but it cost me a fortune per page in ink and the heads constantly clogged. 80% of what I print is text, resumes and letters, but I also enjoy hard copies of my better digital photos, so I needed one printer to do both jobs reasonably well. I let Consumer Report magazine narrow down my choices and ended up with the Canon S520 from Amazon.com. I got a great deal on a great printer! It does everything very well and has separate ink tanks for each color. The tanks are clear so you can see how much ink is left, then replace them one at a time ...I've been using this printer for about 2 months now and totally satisfied with performance. Zero paper jams, quality text and photo printouts with minimal ink usage. Easy install (I'm running on the parallel port with Windows ME). The noise is not bad and the speed is acceptable. The one downside I found was that it tends to bog down the rest of the system while printing. But I don't mind that because I print while word processing, not video gaming.I would highly recommend this printer to anyone looking for a solid, reliable, all around printer. You can find other printers that do just one or two things better, but none that do it all to this level. And definitely not for this price!

I didn't have high expectations for this low-priced printer, but it has certainly surprised me with its quality and speed. Draft mode for black-and-white pages to save ink is still very presentable, while color pages at normal and high quality are good. It was also easy to install and doesn't take up too much space. The only thing is that it doesn't have an output tray, so if you NEED that you might want to get another printer. I haven't used the i250 long enough to know how long the ink cartridge lasts, but if you want a cheap but good printer, this is the one to get.

I bought the printer for my architectural work at the college. We have presentations almost every week, and rendered computer images are really necessary for successful presentation. Due to the great difficulty I faced at the school's clusters, I purchased this photo printer, to save time and money. This printer is amazingly quiet! You won't even realise it printing your loads of pages. I don't know if 1-2 page difference in ppm would matter to you, but Canoni850 is quite fast. As long as you're not intending to use it as a press machine, this will get your 'papers' ready just on time before the class starts. The separate use of ink cartridges works really well. You're being much more efficient compared to other printer owners. The photo quality is really impressive. If you don't magnify on the photographs ten times, you won't notice the little dots. Photos look really good. All you need is this machine and a digital camera. I have a Canon S30; I recommend that, too. Canon's just producing the best products, I should say.My roommate has an HP 5550. It's a lot cheaper than i850, but you wouldn't be able to get the same results. However, if you're buying a printer, just for daily use (printing texts, and images sometimes), then I would go for HP 5550, since it's very cheap, and does a reasonable job.

I recetly bought a new Canon i550 printer and I put it to work immediately. First, I was impressed by its quietness and the capability of closing both trays, input & output. But I'm using my printers only for making brochures and booklets for my patients in 3 different languages, not for photographs or pictures...For my purpose, this printer is very disapointing product: the print is faint (not CRISPY, as most other reviewers stated), even in its highest quality--it can't much even the "draft" mode of Canon S600 inkjet printer, which i'm using successfully for better than 8 months. I thought Canon is improving their line of products progressively (they stopped manufacturing the EXCELLENT S600), but it seems I'm wrong! Of course, I'm still going to look at Canon printers because of their economical "Think Tank", but I'll first try them and than buy.

I'm not going to write a full review because I've mostly used the printer for greyscale illustrator work and although I have no complaints I have no basis for praise.I would like to say one thing though:This printer eats ink faster (...). Not only is the consumption rapid, but the exchange frequency is higher. The ink cartridges are tiny, so you'll be replacing them often. If an HP Deskjet Cartridge lasts you a month, one of these will last a week. I went through two in one print job of 20 pages.

This is my 4th digicam, the 3rd for Canon brands. I have powershot a20, a40, and fuji finepix2800. You notice that all I've been using is only 2MP camera because to me, 2MP is good enough for me. OK, Love this camera. Very small, same features as A40 in general. I don't really care about the zoom feature. I know it's only 2x optical + 3x digital zoom. But that's not really important to me. If you want zoom than buy yourself a high-end price camcorder. The camera has lots of features. When I first got the package, I charged the battery and it took only an hour to do so. Very fast. The body is nice, strong, and very fit to my hand. The battery somehow takes about 1 hour to fully use it even with LCD. I'm talking about constantly taking picture in 1 hr and the camera needs to be recharge. The results is exclnt in most cases with lots of effects such as black & white, sephia, vivid color and lots more..... I know you're gonna love this camera, cause I do.The reason I bought this camera cause I have a 3-month old baby boy. I just can't get enough of him so I want to make sure I can take picture of him every moment and every second in between. It really fits in my pocket without bothering me at all. The camera it's just somehow heavy a bit but still considered light. I was going to wait for the S230 to come in november but I think It's not worth the wait. Anyway, I don't need 3MP. I'm just an average users, not a pro. Just for fun.... P>So guys..... remember, digicam is all about having fun with it. Don't fall into 4MP, 5MP or maybe 6MP. The quality is somewhat the same. People has a tendency to get the biggest of everything to make them big as well.... typical human being. Not everything big is always big, sometimes small things can bring you happiness as well. That's what I think about my Powershot S200. Affordable in price, powerful in features, and small enough to carry it anywhere you want to take it.......

The Canon s530d has been a wonderful little printer and has suited all my needs. It came with both a Dazzle 4-in-1 card reader as well as a Canon specific PCMCIA card. I was able to plug in my Sony Memory stick and start printing right away. The photo index mode (printing a contact sheet of all the photos in the card) is extremely helpful, as is the availability of multiple layouts directly from the built-in LCD screen. On an economic note, the print cartridges cost less than the typical inkjet cartridge because each cartridge does not include the print head. The head is also a separate component which allows cleaning or replacing in case of a clogged nozzle. The colors come in individual Cyan (Blue), Magenta (Red), Yellow and Black tanks. Unlike some cartridges which you have to throw out once a single color runs out and cost an arm and a leg because they have the print head built in, Canon has done ink management right....The Canon s530d is the economical choice if you want a photo printer with memory card reading capability. The print quality is not as good as some of the other photo printers. There are many factors that go into a quality print (camera, paper etc.) and comparing different printers with different inks can be difficult. With that said, the Canon output is still nice. (Though I prefer the quality of Epson printers in general) If you are printing out family snapshots you will be fine. Otherwise, if you are trying to print high quality art, go find a dye-sub printer and leave the consumer level printers to us hobbyists. This isn't a perfect printer, but a very good one for the price.

It's amazing what you can fit in such a small package. You can read the features, I won't waste time there, but what I can say is that this is the best digital camera in its class, hands down. I have tried Olympus, Fuji, Sony, etc. etc., but nothing comes close to this camera. What mainly surprised me was the sturdiness and durability of the body, buttons, and display. The camera just feels great in your hands, not cheap and plastic.Image quality is excellent in most conditions, and very good in the dark, in my experience. This is even on the lowest quality mode. If you're having trouble getting good pictures in the dark, use the flash -- that's why it's there! Don't expect the camera to magically take an amazing picture without light. The flash, by the way, is excellent -- it fills well and is plenty bright. I take most of my pictures at 1024x768, but the 1600x1200 mode is still excellent. I've seen cameras that take grainy pictures in the highest resolutions, but not this one. Great quality all around. Printed pictures also look excellent in 1600x1200 at 4x6 and even 8x10, if you don't mind a slight loss of resolution. If you need to make prints at 8x10, and still want all the greatness of this camera, get the new 3.2 Megapixel Canon Digital Elph S-230. It is a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for -- an extra megapixel of resolution. One other great feature worth mentioning is the Canon Image stitching software to put together 360 degree or multiple-shot panoramas. It works great. I have some great panoramas from everywhere from the tops of mountains to Memorial Stadium during Big Game. And did I mention how small this camera is? Pocket sized. Literally. No comparison.

Prints great on all the various papers that I have, even low cost gloss photopaper.I have read where some users have complained that it was noisy. My wife and I agree that the i450 is very quiet, and that without using the "quiet mode".There are plenty of settings available if needed. This is a great buy, go for it.

Wow, I was out shopping for a digital camera. I wanted something simple and small. This came out to have alot of bells and whistles. That is the best value you will find for this camera new!!! I almost picked up the Canon A60 with the 3 minute digital recording with sound, but I just wanted wanted something for snapshots with a few features. The s200 has digital recording with sound too!!! It is compact lightweight but there is a slight learning curve to it. Once you figure it out and use the software, you will be amazed at the photos you will take. I was even able to print a beautiful 8 by 10 on this thing.Pros: Great value at Staples, great zoom for the price, Canon optics, recording with sound, light sensor feature. Extremely light, compact, nice menu, comes with all cables to view on tv and computer!!Cons: Maybe too small for bigger hands, doesn't use AA batteries, it requires a special nicad battery that comes with it(the charger comes with it too). Recommendations: I like this camera because it is a step up from my Sony. This is a great camera for the intermediate camera user-lots of features and good quality. For the Pro's, the A60 is a more expensive but somewhat better camera. The A60 has a better zoom, uses AA's, longer recording time with sound, but it is bigger, heavier and more expensive.

For so many years HP and Epson were among the highest rated printers. I had great quality from my HP 840C Deskjet--for 3 1/2 years, after which 'it' decided that I had No Paper (even after pulling paper through, but not printing). I had it cleaned, but a short time later, the problem re-occured. So I went out and bought an Epson C82. And wasn't happy. It made an incredible racket once the data was FINALLY received and it pulled the paper down; and then, after waiting and jumping out of my chair when it pulled the paper in, I was not impressed by the quality of the print--in any mode. (see my review of the C82 printer)So, what the heck... Canon was getting high ratings. I went to exchange the Epson for the Canon i850, but it was out of stock. Needing a printer ASAP, I bought the i550 figuring if I didn't like it I could exchange it. I'm not exchanging it! The trays aren't the most solidly built, but if you don't jerk them in and out, they'll hold up. And I was very pleased with the quality of print! I've printed in nearly all modes and media types (from e-mail, scanned, digital camera, text from documents, etc.) and have not been disappointed! Unlike others' experiences with photo paper, I've found that JetPrint Photo Paper (Premium)works just as well as the Canon paper. Looks great on Burlington Bright White, too. However I've been disappointed with the photo software (both Canon and Epson). So far no one meets, let alone beats, Adobe PhotoShop! So buy a Canon printer, install Adobe PhotoShop, and be deliriously happy!

Other review has talked much about this printer. I only have few comments for those who don't know:- First, the USB cable is not included. You have to buy the USB cable to install the software to re-align the print head, for example. The print head was factory set and produce beautiful print though- Second, the little LCD screen is not included and cost 100 USD to purchase separately. You need it if you print photo directly from your memory card in the built in slot of the printer. Without the screen, you can't print from this slot.- Third, there are "selected" Canon camera that support direct print with this printer. My ELPH S110 only works with the CP-10 or CP-100 photo printer, but not with this printer. What a pain!- 4"x6" borderless paper is what you probably need as it give a nice borderless photo at ease. Printing direct on A4 or letter paper waste a lot of paper at the edge. You may as well cut the A4 to 4 pieces and print from the PC, which allow you to print, say, A6 borderless photo. Don't get bother with the perforated paper.- The sample pack paper give the best result. I wonder if they sell it.- Turn on the Image optimizer with Vivid photo option gives even better picture when printing direct.- If you don't want the direct printing, or you always edit your photo first before printing, go for some other Canon printer that do not have direct printing, it will save you some big bucks. My wife loves this printer, because she can work with it alone, without a PC. That's the point, after all, to have a direct printing option, right?

My wife and I were fed up with the costs of film and then developing the APS pictures. The last vacation was the final straw ans total film costs for the vacation came to 60 bucks. I did a lot of research and narrowed my choices to the S200,S330 and S3. I looked at the S3 because I promised my wife that the new digital camera would take as good as a picture as the APS camera. But the 3 meg pix was still kinda pricey so the S200 and S330 were the finalists. The cameras from what I read are the same except for the 3X zoom on the S330. I didn't really use the zoom on my APS camera so we bought the S200 off of amazon. Soon as ups came I started to charge the battery. In the meantime I got familiar with the camera and read the docs. Canon did a great job of a quick start guide and the detailed book was more than I really needed. about 1.5 hours later the green light came on from the battery charger (nice feature to let you know it's finished) and powered up the camera. After setting the date and setting the pics to the highest resolution and super fine compression I was ready to go. Point, shoot and view. It was really that easy. I was able to view the slide show of images I took and I erased the pics I didn't like (that pays for itself being able to erase the pics you do not want). I also bought the viking 64 meg cf card and HP 100 Photo printer with this and I can't believe the photo quality coming from this little HP 100 printer. The S200 takes as good if not better pics (settings are on high) than my APS and then the kicker was I pulled the CF card, inserted the CF card into the HP 100 (doesn't require a computer to print) and printed a 4X6 borderless pic in under 2.5 minutes. We both laughed, cause you can't imagine the quality. Side X Side with a APS photo you can't tell the differnce. Took the little printer and S200 to work snapped some photos and printed them off and I get the same disbelief from everyone.PROS: small compact, rechargable battery, able to do video out to tv, usb to pc, incredible pics, no more film costs!CONS: got to get a 64+ meg card with purchase (8 meg card isn't enough)For [more money] get the HP 100 printer and you won't be disappointed...

In a nutshell, this seems to be great little camera. It's tiny, solid, and delivers very good quality pictures. At its "best" settings, the camera delivers more (yes, more) pictures on a single 128meg memory card than the 128 estimated pictures. My file sizes hover around the 800k mark--less than the 957 estimated--a good thing. The battery (NB-1LH) however scores only about half of the estimated pictures at this quality. At around 80 photos, it starts screaming for more juice. A backup battery is recommended. Still better than some other highly rated cameras, just not what I hoped for.Low light conditions are a bit of a challenge sometimes for the camera, so a mini tripod or a monopod are also useful.Finding a case for it was difficult as well. A small cell phone belt loop thing works best for me, though no extra storage for stuff.Sooo, great for the non-professional. Great for the outdoors. Great for the active folk with its small and friendly package. Buy the larger memory cards, an extra battery, and hunt for that perfect case. I do love the camera for it's pocketability and its ease of dumping photos to my PC, or directly to a TV screen, as it has a slide show mode that you could record directly to VHS if you were so inclined.Buy it, you know you want to.

My papers look like they were printed on a laser printer. It iddn't print too well on the glossy paper, but it isn't a photo printer so I didn't expect it to be able to print photos wonderfully. What I especially love is the price of the ink cartridges: incredibly cheap! If I had known I could get such an awesome printer at such a good price and with such cheap cartridges, I would've gotten it ages ago!The printer comes with two cartridges (one black and one color) so that alone saves money, but it doesn't come with a cord to connect to the computer. So, keep that in mind when you purchase it. However, I found a really good USB cable at Amazon for a good price, so that wasn't a big deal. The printer is very easy to set up as long as you follow the directions and make sure you get all the tape and styrofoam off it. The only negative thing about the printer is that it doesn't seem very sturdy. Or, it's not as sturdy as my last one. I'm sure it'll last for years, though, and I don't plan to be slamming it against things. Overall, I'm very pleased.

I'm very pleased with this printer. The price is right, it prints great looking text fast, it prints great looking photos (not quite as fast), and supplies are inexpensive compared to HP. I don't think it is too noisy. Don't forget to get a USB (AB) cable as one is not included with the printer. You may also want to get a 50 pack of Canon Photo Paper Plus (8X6) available on Amazon for about $8 as you'll be impressed by the photos you print. I like this printer so much, I bought another one for my office.

I bought the S110 in December 2001 and have become a digital camera maniac. I really love this camera and have recommended it to my friends. The quality of the photos and its small size have won me over. The S200 has some of the improvements that I wish my S110 had but it is still a great camera. I have an extra battery but have only had to use it a couple of times. I charge my battery every day when I am travelling. The rechargeable battery is really a blessing. It is so convenient and quick to charge. Sometimes I wish it was a 3 or 4 megapixel camera but I'll have to wait for Canon to develop that in the future. I took the camera with me on my two plus week trip to France and took over 350 pics. That meant buying an additional 128mb card in addition to the 128,16,8 and 64 I already owned. It was barely enough. The camera worked well in low light situations(no flash used) when we wanted to photograph some of the paintings we saw on our museum tours. With a steady hand most came out pretty well considering the slow shutterspeed necessary for that kind of lighting. Where this camera mattered the most to me it through with flying colors on this trip and I was very happy with the photos of our trip. The primary reason to buy this camera is its small size and good quality photos. I carried this camera with me,usually in my pants pocket, 90% of the time I was in France. I barely knew it was there and I didn't stand out as a tourist. I do find myself longing for a camera with more features and more megapixels but would I take it with me as much as I do now? I think not. I do get a few unsatisfactory photos, but I think it has more to do with using the light well and setting the camera's light settings appropriately. I'm still learning how to use it.The video feature is really wonderful. It gives short clips with so-so resolution but you can be creative and catch some wonderful moments, especially with children.i would recommend the canon s30 or s40 if you can afford more and size is not a factor in your decision. These are very highly rated cameras.

This camera is my xerox machine on the road. Using the macro feaure I can capture hundreds of text pages and either display them on my computer later or print them out with excellent clarity. I can capture white-boards full of designs and concepts and review them at my leisure. I use it to photograph parts and assemblies and get good detail. I also use it to build relationships by photographing my contacts in other organziations and e-mailing the photos to them. They really like that. It's small enough to keep with me. It's rugged enough to take the beating of constant travel. What's more, it's a great piece of equipment. It just feels good. I'm delighted by it each time I use it.It's good in low-light. It can catch just about anything I can see. I usually find I get a better picture avaliable-light that with the flash anyway. Downside - you will not take action pictures with this camera. There is a delay of almost a second from the time you press the button until it actually snaps the picture. But that's not how I use it.

As you can probably guess from the title, I use to own a Cannon BJC5100 printer. I must say, it .... The quality was poor, very noisy, slow, and most of all, the ink was [money]. This not the worst of it however, as Cannon didn't bother to write a XP driver for the model. There goes my [money]! Anyhow, I though I'd never buy Cannon again(especially after telling a customer support person the very same), but after some research (and checking my wallet), I thought S520 was not too bad. The thing is, S520 isn't bad at all. It's still noisy as hell, and the printer has a habit of cleaning it self in ungodly hours, but other than that I have had no other problems. Had it for a month now, and I must have printed 150 pages by now and the ink indicator is still full. The way I figured, even if it's half full, [money] for 150 pages ain't bad. The generic cartriges cost [money] shipped btw. Don't know about printing quality, and I don't care. Being a college student, all I want are papers with black words on them. At [money] per page, it don't get anycheaper than that. I must say, Cannon has really improved its products in the last year. Guess my five phone calls to Cannon about their ... BJC5100 didn't fall on deaf ears after all (if you own a s520 you should thank me now). And just in case you are still considering getting a BJC5100 used, you might as well ... yourself in the foot now. It's a lot less painfull.

I purchased this printer with the intent to use it for both photo printing and regular text printing. Photos look great and print relatively quickly, but I had a problem with white streaks when printing text. I ended up calling Canon support and they sent me a new printer head for free since the printer is still under warranty. I've had no problems since. I give the printer a high rating mainly because I was very satisified with their tech support.

My wife asked for a good photographic printer for her birthday. I was planning to spend up to $$$$ for something really great, and began my search at consumerreports.org. They actually pointed out this printer as the very best of the lot at around $. I bought it and I am BLOWN-AWAY by how great it is. The quality on the photographic glossy-paper is stunning, and the speed is absolutely remarkable! I can literaly print photo-store quality sheets in seconds that look flawless. I would recommend this printer to anyone. I use it only for photo's, I use a different printer for general printing. Ink can be expensive, so I don't want to squander money using it's cartridges.

I just bought this yesterday, so this is just my initial impressions.... I saw it in the store beside the HP 450. The i70 was about half the size of the 450. The Cannon rep was there and I asked for both a photo and text to be printed. The results were pretty awesome for such a tiny printer. This is just the perfect printer for a laptop. But the only connections are via USB or infra-red. No parallel port! (That official Amazon.com review is wrong about this.) It comes with AC adaptor.... Also no USB cable. So it winds up being pricey. But it's worth it. It's also very good looking... not like that older model (Cannon 85?) which was an ugly black box.The infra-red port is on the right side. My laptop's infra-red port is also on the right. Since I didn't want a backwards printer, I went with the USB connect. Installation was very easy. They give you a large, but one-page step-by-step guide. I was printing in about 15 minutes. It has one tub for color ink and a second tub for black ink. So if you print a lot of text, you won't use up that expensive color ink.I hope that this printer can last as long as an HP printer. If it can, Cannon has HP beat.

The output quality is okay but: 1) the printing is very slow; 2) the black ink (original Canon) smudges more than any inkjet I've had before; 3) once you start printing there's no easy way to stop (like if you forgot to specify the number of pages on a very long document - happens to me all the time!); 4) The manual has the WRONG INSTRUCTIONS for Macintosh computers and 5) I'm having a lot of trouble getting replacement ink cartridges (they call them "tanks" though they're the size of your little finger!) - at this moment it seems every store in town (Montreal) is out of black ink.

This is a wonderful printer. I am a college student, bought this because it was cheap (fourty-five dollars). The USB works fine, the speed is fine. the quality is wonderful (for text, i didn't try out the photo settings). It not that loud. Cool feature is that you can remotely turn it off (but not on). The ink cartridges are cheap (around seven). So what more does one need? 10 ppm draft, 7 ppm normal. more than acceptable. This is great printer for just about anyone, and at this price!, it's a steal. Plus, Canon has a no-hassle exchange policy for a year. Great printer!

After the numerous positive reviews on both ... and various camera sites, I went ahead and picked up a S200. I've managed to get some good pictures with it, but it definitely is not a good camera for someone looking for a "point and shoot" device. Careful composing of each shot is required, as is tinkering with the various settings and modes. For example, on my first outing, I took it to a large aquarium in Chattanooga. When I returned, I realized that only 1 out of the 16 shots I took was excellent; 2 other ones were pretty decent, and the rest were garbage. Not great for a supposedly "point and shoot" camera. On my second trip, I spent about an hour with the manual, learning the intricacies of auto focus lock, flash lock, various metering modes, and other features. If I spent a minute or so on each shot, carefully determining the best mode for the situation, my results were much better - 6 out of 8 shots were excellent. If you want a camera for a vacation where you want to snap something neat that you see as you pass by; say, out of a gondola, while on a train, etc - I'd say forget about the powershot s200. If you are looking for a camera to produce excellent "set-up" shots, this may be the one you're looking for. Pros:- Great picture quality and color - if you're willing to compose the shot extensively.- Rugged, fine-looking stainless steel- comes with a li-ion battery pack & charger - good battery life- menus are easy to navigate throughCons:- photos that are "point and shoot" are likely to come out blurry or improperly exposed, to the point of unusability.- Camera does not take Compact Flash Type II cards - only Type I- No uncompressed file mode - if you do any cropping / editing on your picture, expect it to get worse each time you resave it.- Focusing is very picky in low-light situations- Price is pretty high for a 2 megapixel camera- lower resolution modes are practically useless; only the "best" resolution setting gives quality pictures.

I replaced a Kodak 65 series digital with this unit, largely to get to the more compact size and to the features, like the movie, audio and stitch-together modes. This unit is shirt-pocket capable, a BIG advantage, plus has all the features I need for my photography. I've taken, and filed on the computer and CD's a couple thousand pictures, with virtually no troubles or confusion regarding the controls. 8x10's are no problem with the 2 MP setting. I'd do another one of these again in a minute, and, in fact, bought 3 more of 'em for presents to relatives.

The reason why I decided to get the Canon i850 vs. other brands like HP and Epson is because of its low ink cost. The 4 separate ink tanks system will allow you to only replace the ink that is out, not the whole cartidge. I've had the printer for a month now and printed numerous documents and photos, but all ink cartidges remain nearly 100% full! Not to mention its superb print quality and speed!!! Now I can just print whatever I want without worrying about my pocket! You can't go wrong with the Canon i850, especially if you are concerned about ink costs.

All the reviews available really say it all. I can only say positive things about this little wonder. I have been using digital cameras only since 1994 and I can say this is the best so far. The size is great even for big hands like mine and it is very easy to use. Low light conditions require extra light, but when the light is sufficient, pictures are far better than I ever got with my Nikon film camera years ago. It is my second camera to exceed film quality. The last one was a Canon also. The investment in digital is well worth it since you have zero expense after camera, extra cards, and card reader are purchased. Bottom line: knockout quality in design, construction quality, and picture quality. This camera is a work of art that could be showcased.

I'm dissapointed this printer does not have more reviews. If you do your research on Photo Printers you'll find this one is top notch. As someone with a photographic background, I was impressed with the very first print that came off the S530D - I've printed 8x10s shot with our Canon S30 camera and I believe even a more advanced amatuer would have a hard time telling if the S530D print was film or digital.I will say that I approached the switch from 35MM film to digital imaging on an overall "system" strategy researching both the camera and printer at the same time - ending up with Canon for both. One of the nice features of the S530D is the direct print option available with selected Canon cameras - no need to remove the CF card - just connect the camera directly to the printer with the supplied cord and you are ready to go.The printer DOES come with a DAZZLE adapter to accept other data cards, so if you do not have a CF card camera or Canon camera do not discount this printer out as a possible candidate. As for paper, I have tried both the Kodak Ultima and Canon Photo Paper Pro and see only slight (if any) improvements using the Canon paper. Since I approached the whole digital imaging decision on a "system" I will continue to use the Canon paper with the S530D.Overall I am very happy with the S530D. Its a great printer for a great price.

The Canon S520 bubble jet printer represents an excellent value. The print speed is amazing, it uses inexpensive individual ink tanks, makes borderless prints and most importantly, has very good output quality. The only drawbacks are the lack of memory card slot for direct printing from digital cameras and the fact that is only uses four color (six colors printers are better at generating even photo quality skin tones). Consequently, I sold my Canon and bought an Epson 785EPX and I miss the Canon for several reasons: 1. The Epson is noisy as hell, 2. Slow as molasses in comparison, 3. It sucks ink like a sponge, 4. The ink tanks are expensive and 5. If you run out of one color your entire cartridge has to be replaced. Mind you I knew all this beforehand based upon other online reviews. Bottomline line is that its hard to have it all for a low price but for $49 after rebate (a/o 3/11/03) the Canon S520 is hard to beat. For the price I'm tempted to buy it again myself!FYI to Mac users, Mac OS X does not support borderless printing for either Canon or Epson and will require booting in OS9 and use of the applicable OS9 driver packages.

In researching ink jet printers, I started by pricing out cartridges and working my way back to a printer (printer manufacturers should probably just give the printers away because the cartridges are where the money is). I ended up with the Canon i450 mostly because the cartridges can be puchased on line fairly cheaply and also because it gets reasonably good ratings from consumers. I haven't been at all dissapointed. It's not blazingly fast, but more than adequate for my purposes. And the quality is excellent. Great value!

I bought this to replace a Lexmark Z35 that went through pricey ink cartridges like a child goes through candy. In sharp contrast, this printer takes very [inexpensive] cartridges that seem to last a reasonable amount of time. I didn't have any problems with setup or with the driver software. Print quality is very good for B&W or color text and graphics. I have not done any serious photo printing yet, so I can't comment on that. This printer is fairly noisy and sometimes takes awhile to start printing after a document is sent to it. However, it is very fast for such a [low price] printer. Perhaps this is because it uses USB 2.0--so try to pick up a newer high speed USB cable.Although I have a few minor complaints about this printer, it is hard to go wrong with it at such a low price. It is the perfect choice for any low-volume printer user on a budget.

I bought this printer based off the reviews here and the magazines reviews that I read this would be a great buy. Upon purchasing this I was amazed that printer didn't included a cable to connect to the computer or any of the hardware that they talk about being able to connect. So I had to go out and purchase my own USB cable just to finish install this piece of hardware to my computer. After that this thing worked like a champ! No major complaints. So if you are seriously intrested in purchasing this you should consider purchasing a USB cable to connect to this to your computer.
