Like some of the other reviewers, I feel like Canon/Amazon pulled the ole switcheroo on me. Printer works fine on heavy Windows/OSX network, but will not print from iPhone or iPads. You have to download a Canon App and that only allows photo prints and scanned prints to be printed wirelessly. So you can scan something that you need to print then turnaround and print it. Awesome! Basically, you can't print out a quick email or webpage directly from the phone.Since I had this thing shipped to Hawaii, I guess I'm kind of stuck with it. Way too much hassle to tape up and resend. If I bought from a local store, it would be returned.

The only gripe I have with this printer is I wished the ink would last a bit longer, specifically the colored ink, but I've printed quite a bit, also, so next time, I'll have to take note. That being said, I bought one for my mother and I and I believe she uses hers often with no problems. The wireless is one of the best features on this puppy. My fiance and I both have laptops and are both connected to this wirelessly. The best part about that is I'm across the room, so I don't have to have my laptop right next to the product to print. The colors are vibrant and when printing, have more options with the software with color and paper options. It's a little loud and slow, but of course, the room I have this in has no rug, or any curtains to absorb any sound and I have solid wood floors, so everything is going to be much louder. :o)I love all features, although I wished there were a little more options. I've used this printer to print from my flash drive. I've even scanned photos to send over to my laptop, or put on my flash drive. Even my SD card from my camera! GREAT FEATURES! I especially love the options on the printer itself, and everything closes (even the display control panel you see sticking up folds down), which is great when guests come over. Did I mention, easy to clean for those of us who hate to dust? Due to the features of everything having it's place, there is less dust to worry about! The scanner is also great and easy to clean. I haven't used the fax as I do not have a land line, so I'm uncertain as to how great it works, but if everything else is wonderful, I can imagine the fax would be quite useful.The quality of the photos (even temporary tattoos I've printed) have been excellent. I'd compare it to a laser printer, that's how great the quality of the pictures are. Their customer service is excellent. I had this printer working wirelessly on my own at first, but then it stopped working, called up their customer service, during which time I figured out what I did wrong (wrong word for password for the router LOL), but they're fabulous, courteous and helpful. Overall, for the price (and I've gone through many different kinds of printers, even a thermal), this one is quite impressive. Being an artist, as well, I have no problem printing my work for my portfolio, which is very important in my field.Worst case scenario, if you do not like it, you can always return it, but I think that won't be the case with this one!

Bought this great printer almost four years ago. As of April 2012, this thing still print out great pictures and text. We purchased the bluetooth chip to go inside the printer and it has worked flawlessly with our computers running on Mac OS X. Although it is not fast, but for the quality and convenience it is great! It now sits next to the Bose SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker - Nylon on the book shelve within reach and ready to rock-n-roll any moment! **Bluetooth connectivity is a must in our opinion!

I haven't used this printer too much yet, but upon receipt, I set it up right away and did a test print. I mainly bought this printer to print my own invitations, programs, paperie for my upcoming wedding. The printer was super easy to set up on wireless. Just follow the directions that come with it and you should be good to go. Did my first test print and turned out great! The colors are bold and clear. Have yet to try the copier and scanner, but I'm sure it is just as good.

i got tired of not being able to print at home so i finally broke down and got a printer. i didnt need anything fancy, i was just looking for something with good quality at a good price. this printer was it for me. the picture print quality is awesome for what i paid. i use the cannon semi gloss photo paper and any images ive printed have been great.i dont print too often so i wasnt terribly concerned with ink cost, but from looking it up it seems to not be too much when you buy the xl ink cartridges. also, the text printing is crisp. as some have said, its not super quiet but its not bad and it definitely prints fast enough for me. if you dont need the wifi i suggest getting the 280. when i got this printer the 280 was on sale for $40. i went ahead and got this one in case i want to use wireless in the future. i have mine sitting next to my tower anyway so i just have it hooked up with usb. if youre looking for an inexpensive decent printer for home use that can print great pics than this is it.

Just got this printer in today. Cannot set up wireless for some unknown reason. I used the proper passcode to my router and tried connecting several times but would not connect. The router is probably 10 feet away from the printer. If you want to print a single check in Quickbooks or any other program, you need to go into the setup on the printer and reset the default input try from the tray under the printer to the tray on the rear of the printer. This is a real pain. The printer should have a sensor on the rear tray to sense that there is a sheet of paper in there and to draw the paper from that tray instead of the tray under the printer. This printer is much bigger than what I thought it would be. It is almost the size of the old HP Laserjet II Printers of old. The printer size looking at it from the front paper tray is 19 inches wide and 20 inches deep with the rear paper tray opened, and 8 1/2 inches high. This is a big printer. The pluses of this printer are excellent print quality both on plain paper and photo paper. I haven't had it long enough to say how the consumables will last but hopefully the consumables won't put me in the poor house. The scanner on this printer is so quiet you don't know it is working until you see the document show up on your screen. I haven't tried the duplexing feature yet so I don't know how that works. Overall, I like the printer because of the fast print speed, and quiet operation. The black shinny covers will be dust magnets for sure but with a swiffer duster, I should be able to keep it relatively clean.

Print quality is fine and I like the WiFi capability. However, as a casual home user, I have two main complaints:1) The scanner feeder (for scanning multiple documents) does not work reliably and often grabs multiple pages.2) The ink runs out very quickly, even with the more expensive XL cartridges. Additionally, the cartridges (regular or XL) are much more expensive than other printer brands.For me, the ink costs are the real killer. I've had this printer only a few months and I've already spent well more on ink than I did on the printer. I'm spending so much more on ink (compared to my previous HP printer) that I've finally realized that, though the printer is new and in perfect working condition, it makes better financial sense to buy a different printer rather than continuing to sink money into ink.

I purchased this printer based on the amount of positive reviews from amazon and also a handful of other online sites selling printers.Functionality:Works as promised by reviews and canon product description. Love the quality and versatility.Set-up:Takes a little bit more care and attetion to setting up the printer than I would have liked, but with patience and double checking I made it.Value:Little expensive, but now that I have it, I do not regret the price I paid. Expecting to see this printer deliver for the next couple of yearsAdditional perks:Seperate ink cartridges is HUGE PLUS.love the led lights letting you know ink cartridges are set in place properly on the ink head.

The printer was nice when I first bought it, because it was my first wireless printer. After that, it was all down-hill. The printer constantly forgets my wi-fi settings, and frequently just disconnects itself. Also, the driver support for Macintosh is pitiful. Which is a shame, seeing as how it was a free printer with my MacBook Pro.

This is the 4th printer I've owned & the best so far. I do NOT understand the reviews saying it was a problem to install, I am by no means miss techy, never owned anything wireless & I had no problems. Some reviews are because of user mis use..you can hide the little "bubble" that shows on your desktop, & just click on it if you want to print. Mine does not print in reverse as default as another reviewer stated. Again, I believe it's the user.I got this at Walmart for $45, and couldn't be more pleased. Oh, the install gives you the option of installing the bloatware..

I purchased this so that I could print on large paper... it does that perfectly. It also prints great photos -- large and small. When closed up, it really doesn't take up a lot of real estate. It's not the quietest, but I don't really care about that. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that a lot of the new printers do -- it's not wireless, there's no SD slots for direct printing, there's no screen -- it's just a simple plug-to-your-computer printer... I'm sure this keeps the price down, so I'm all for it. I like the fact that it has separate ink cartridges for each color. I saw the fact that the Canon ink cartridges were kind of pricey, so I've been using the Sophia Global Compatible Ink Cartridges (set of all 5 for under $14 on Amazon). These work great also... colors are good. Great printer for the price.One last thing, if you don't have USB Printer Cable... order one also. Amazon has them for less than $5.

Note: Instructions for Macbook Pro, wireless setup:From pulling it out of the package to printing my first sheet, it took about 45 minutes to setup following the instruction booklet. Very straightforward.I did not install the CD with the drivers and other stuff on it. When you get to page 32 of the manual ("Install the Software"), it asks you to insert the CD. Instead, just try printing from safari or another program and find the printer there, since you already connected it to the wireless network. The macbook will then install everything current you need, and you can print right after that.After years of being a slave to PC's, living with a mac is heaven. Never going back.

I've only ever had HP printers thinking, erroneously it turns out, that they were the defacto King of printers. I finally got sick of my last HP printer (not that old either) devouring ink, incomplete or faded/misaligned prints and went looking for a replacement. Even with my bad experience with the HP, I still was nervous to pick up the Canon but my fears were complete unfounded.The Canon is a piece of cake to setup. It connected easily with my wifi network and prints flawlessly. It also comes with a software suite that allows you to remotely use the scan feature as well as some handy webpage printing utilities, e.g. how many times have you wanted to print just a section of a webpage but ended up printing the whole thing?My only gripe is that, as with most printers these days, the Canon has 5+ ink cartridges and they aren't cheap. With the price of ink these manufacturers could practically give the printers away and still make a killing. But since I'd have to deal with that with an HP anyway, at least I don't have to deal with the rest of the headaches.

This printer replaced 2 HP PSC 2210 all-in-ones that I owned for about 8 years. At first, I loved the canon in comparison. There were a few annoyances:1) Setting up wireless was a nightmare. But once I realized I had to turn off all my firewalls and virus protectors, it went smoothly.2) Uploading images from the memory card onto my computer takes FOREVER. I mean FOREVER.3) So many ink cartridges required! I ONLY print grayscale black and white fast quality, so how is it that my color cartridges are repeatedly running out of ink??But overall, I loved the look, the fact that it was much more compact than the HP, that it had 2 feed trays (rear and bottom) so I could use one for plain paper and one for shipping labels. My HP is still working and is still connected to my old computer, but it started having paper feeding issues. Every few pages would jam the machine, unless you were using thicker paper (I'm cheapo so I'm sure my paper is cheap thin). Happened to both my HPs after several years. It annoyed me to the point that I decided I needed a new printer. Friend had just bought the Canon so I followed lead.It ran so smoothly at first. My HP was really jerky, it would shake the table everytime it printed. Not so with the Canon. Somewhat loud but smooth. It doesn't print as quickly as the HP. Sometimes I hear the internal parts going but it takes a while for it to actually print the page.Not a big deal. But after about 8 months, it's starting to really frustrate me. Both feeder trays are constantly jamming now when I try to print my shipping labels. I used to print the labels in the rear feeder. Then suddenly it wouldn't accept the paper unless I only had like 10 sheets in the tray. I could used to sit at least 30-40 sheets back there. Now if I try to fill the rear feeder up with shipping labels, the paper will not slide down through the printer.So then I switched over using the bottom tray for my shipping labels and that worked fine for a while. But now, it's jamming about every 2-3 pages. I print a lot of labels (about 20-30 per day), so the printer is really getting worked out, but I would have expected it to fare better after just 8 months.It hasn't given me any problems yet with regular plain paper though. Still, a disappointment, especially considering all the other annoyances I was willing to overlook.

I bought this mostly for printing shipping labels. I'm not planning to print photos. If I print in FAST of STANDARD mode, a B&W document looks like it was printed in an inkjet printer but in HIGH quality mode, I get almost laser-like text. Maybe if I show the document to someone with a laser printer, they probably can't tell the diference, except for the bleeding of the ink through the other side of the paper.This is why you can't print on both sides.PROS* No heat.* Labels can be runned through the printer more than once.* B&W plus color* Print quality is excelent for labels* Almost laser-like quality on B&W text* Thinner and lighter* Cheaper* Direct paper path (no paper jams)* Black ink is waterproofCONS* I hate black.* Slow and Noisy* NOT for printing on both sides* For printing ocassionally in small quantities* Cartridges exposed to air must be used within a few months* If the printer is tilted or turned upside down, it may be contaminated by ink.

This printer is one of the worst products I've ever had the misfortune to purchase. Simply replacing the ink has taken me down a rabbit hole that has wasted days of my life. Save yourself the headache and stay away from it. Do a google search on mp560 ink replacement to confirm.

I bought this printer a few months ago, and have not been disappoitned.When I first printed out a photo, I was ready to box it up and ship it back to Amazon. The photos looked way too glossy and textured (I replaced a HP Photosmart printer with this one). After about 30 minutes and the ink completely dried, however, the quality exceeded that of my older Photosmart.The printer is also very fast (again, my basis is the Photosmart).Some of the menus are confusing, but there are tutorials on-line that are helpful. For example, we use voicemail at home, but the printer kept answering incoming calls before voicemail could pick up the call. Finding the proper option to turn off the auto-answer feature was intuitive, but after finding the tutorial on-line, it was easy.The only issue I have is with the ink. The cartridges are very small, and don't last very long. We only use the printer moderately, but I have already replaced the cartridges once. I'm going to try some of the non-Canon cartridges next time to see how the quality compares.Overall, I highly recommend this printer.

I got mine (with a free ream of paper) at WallyWorld for $52 shipped, a very nice price. I have a Canon Pixma MP620 at home, so loading software wasn't an issue. I got this one for use at work, so I added a Continuous Ink Supply for convenience and economy, I recommend them for those who print a lot. As to the printer, it scans and prints without any issues, though I don't print many pictures. Not a lot to comment on when something works as it should.

After the color cartridge that came with the printer ran out I could never get another color cartridge to print accurate colors. I tried the built in head cleaning application numerous times. Even bought a different cartridge and all I get is lines through the areas where a particular color exits. Is worthless to me, so I'm canning it and going back to HP.

I just bought the newest incarnation of the MP495 series Canon Pixma printer - the MP497.Pros:1. Wireless N support and ease of pairing using WPS (Wifi Protected Set-up)2. Windows 7 & Mac Snow Leopard 10.6 ready3. WPA/WPA2 support4. Quite affordable. About US$80 on Amazon and S$229 in Singapore.5. Print, Scan, Copy in 1 small package6. Some direct printing support for Iphone.Cons:1. No doublesided printing. (If you need this, go for the slightly more expensive MP568)2. No LCD screen to show you printer messages. The MP497 works by showing error codes which is more inconvenient.For printer installation on the Mac, the best 'quick start guide' is from a dude Otto Olah who wrote a good review for the Canon Pixma MP568. I followed these steps for my wife's macbook pro and it worked like a charm:To be able to print wirelessly, you have to have the latest drivers.To install them, forget about the CD in the box (it has OS X 10.5 compatible drivers only), and the 13 page "Getting Started" guide to install stuff you don't need. Just download the latest drivers from the Canon USA website. I upgraded to the Vixia HF S200 from the Vixia HF200, and I couldn't be more pleased. Although the HF S200 is larger and heavier, which is a turn-off for some people, it is definitely a change for the better in terms of the quality gained. The image quality simply is clearer and sharper.The touch-screen is a fantastic addition as well, particularly when it comes to ease of focus. I shoot lots of live performances in a small theater setting, and being able to touch the performer's face on screen to maintain focus is an incredible convenience. Many people complain about the pressure necessary to use the touch screen. I think many people expect all touch screens to be as sensitive as an iPhone or iPad screen. I actually prefer that the touch screen requires a little more pressure because it prevents me from accidentally changing focus or settings by accident.One of the things I've been very impressed with is the quality of the built-in mic. I previously purchased the Canon DM-100 shotgun mic for my HF200. However, for the performances I've recorded (live theater and cabaret), I actually prefer the audio from the built-in HF S200 mic to the audio recorded with the DM-100 and my HF200.The legitimate complaint that most users have is with regards to the performance of the included battery. It is really poor, and gives less than a full hour of recording time, even with the display dimmed. I strongly recommend buying an extended-use battery (there is an EXCELLENT generic version of the BP-827 available on overstock.com that communicates with the camera like the stock battery).With the instant rebate currently available, this camera is a great value. In fact, I just purchased a second one to film live shows using multiple camera angles. Highly recommend.

This printer/scanner combination works perfectly with the Snow Leopard. I have not upgraded to Lion yet, but the installation and integration is seamless wireless printing and scanning. Never used the installation CD, the built-in installation process installed only the drivers needed, without all the extra manufacture's crap software.The picture quality is very nice for the home printer. All pictures have been of good quality and with no wasted prints or other associated errors.Have not used the fax.Pro:-Fast installation without CD-Easy wireless printing and scanning with no effort-Easy USB wired printing with no effort-Intuitive operation and installation-Comes with FULL INK-Ink cartridges are some of the cheapest on the marketCon:-It is large and is awkwardly shaped.

I had gone through 2 Dell printers and was excited about the Canon MP560. It looked very nice and impressive. Reading the descriptions of the features was easy and directions for set up were fairly simple. I am not a very "set-it-up" easily type of guy but I was able to get through the non-wireless set-up and thought I was ready to go. From the first installation the scanner feature of the printer did not ever work. I un-installed and re-installed the drivers so many times I lost count. I talked with the technical support people daily for a while and for some reason they could not talk me through the set-up to get the scanner to work properly. The un-install and re-install process was not an easy task. The solution menu registered only one or two features after the computer told me the software was complete and working properly. Apparently there was a file hidden in the computer somewhere from one of the old Dell printers that had a scanner and that file was stopping the Canon scanner feature from working.The technical support persons were very nice and patient and suggested that I try the wireless connection to fix the "only partial features working" properly problem. I think I could learn to fly a 747 more easily. Installing the wireless software and getting it to work with my DSL modem was not fun. The "troubleshooting" part of the on-screen manual was no help because it didn't install correctly. When I got the printer to work for about one half of the features, the paper feeder began to mis-align every piece of paper and crunch them up causing a paper jam that I could never fix. I packed the printer up and put it in my closet could have returned it but enough time spent on the thing. There were many nice added touches to the printer. The templates and photos options all were a nice touch but things seldom I would use. The little wheel that is turned to access the various functions was not easy to manipulate but the graphics on the little screen were very nice. The ability to reduce and enlarge copies was nice. The finished copy was the nicest thing about it. the colors were bright and the copies all looked very professional. . I bought a much less expensive Epson Stylus NX 415 and I could not be happier. From the first installation everything worked perfectly. I can't do some of the fancier things on it as with the Canon but I need a good basic copier with a scanner that is dependable and easy to use. The Epson fits the bill perfectly.The quality of the print is not quite as clear and clean as the Canon but for my work, it is fine. The Canon printer is well constructed of metal-like material, not all plastic like the Epson. I use a printer more than most home computer users and the Epson NX 415 is holding up very well and works as good as it did the first day I used it.

I bought this printer because I needed a reliable one to get me through grad school. I saw all the wonderful reviews about this printer, so I decided to give it a shot. It worked fine for the first couple of months, the ink was ridiculously expensive, then one day the printer suddenly stopped working. I did everything in my power to get it to work, reinstalled the drivers, called support and NOTHING worked.I'm not sure if mine was defective but all I know it was a big waste of money, I would not refer anyone to buy this printer. As far I know, Canon just lost all my business with them because this printer was anything but "reliable" "high value for the price".Do yourself a favor avoid this printer, there are many other good ones out there don't bother with this piece of junk.

Original review: The print quality is astounding in color and black/white modes. The reviews on Amazon prepared us for a device that is powerful but not easy to harness. That is precisely how it worked out. Once we discovered and worked through a function, it performed flawlessly. Five stars for design, performance, and quality. Only two stars for "ease of use" - this product is easy to use only after one learned how to use it - and we found the documentation opaque and frustrating. It is definitely worth learning how to use it - because it performs astoundingly well - but it should not be so difficult to acquire the necessary skill. The human engineering of the product - display, controls, buttons - deserves 5 stars, the description of how to use them deserves two stars or fewer. If Canon would invest some effort in plain English descriptions of how to make it work -it would improve the experience greatly.Further review added after several months of use: Although we still like what this unit does, more and more things that it should do either do not work at all or are frustratingly "sticky". Example: the fax function. It is as foggy as any on this device - even for use within the USA. Try to send a fax abroad and you are in for hours of frustrating stops and starts. It is so bad that I am taking my fax to a professional service provider here in town, ready to pay premium for having the one-pager sent overseas on my behalf.Consequently, I reduced the stars from "a partially realized 5" to only 2 stars. If I don't get a decent manual on line soon, this product rating will go down to 1 star.I now consider this CANON MX 350 unit as among the most sorry examples of human engineering in its class.

This review is actually on the Canon MX320. It is the MX330's little brother. Both printers are identical except the MX320 does not have the color lcd screen, it has a 2-line dot matrix screen. Since I do all of my editing on my computer, and can't see much on the little screen anyway, I chose to save about $40. Either printer offers great value in my humble opinion.PROS:1. Photo quality equal to my Canon MX830. I don't know why or how but the prints look the same. Even better if you use Canon's "VIVID" setting in the Easy Photo Print software under paper selector.2. The scanner reproduces colors and details that are very close to original and you have the option to touch up photos after scanning. Using the ADF you can copy legal size papers.3. The fax options are not perfect but they work. This is the first all-in-one that I've owned that I can actually leave the fax running in the back round without it interfering with phone calls on the same line. Using the TEL Preferred setting the fax will start automatically if you answer the phone and it is a fax. This even works from a remote phone by dialing 25 if you hear the fax noise when you answer. Up to 50 (20 pages of documents) faxes will be stored in memory if you run out of paper or ink.4. My favorite option on this printer is the fact that you can choose which cartridge to print from. This will save a lot of the more expensive color ink, especially from advertisements faxed to you. Simply follow these steps to print from black only:a. Click on the MY PRINTER icon the software installed on your desktopb. Click on the PRINTER SETTINGS tabc. Click on the MAINTENANCE tabd. Click on the INK CARTRIDGE SETTINGS tabe. Choose from using BLACK ONLY cartridge, COLOR ONLY cartridge, or BOTH cartridgesThe black only setting only works with plain paper and envelopes so photos will still print in color. Plus it takes only seconds to change settings if you need color in your text documents. This setting works great if you have teenagers that print everything they see.5. You can fax straight from your computer without first printing the fax. Just click on PRINT and choose Canon MX330 Fax as your printer. The fax works just like you ran it through the printer, including printing a receipt if you have set this up on the printer.6. At about $.05 per black and white page printed, using the XL ink cartridges, and the ability to print photos that will last up to 300 years I feel the print costs are reasonable.7. I bought the MX320 after trying the Epson NX300. There is no comparison between the 2 printers. The Canon exceeded my expectations in every category. At $69 the MX320 (MX330) is an all-in-one printer that works perfectly for a small home business on a tight budget.CONS:1. The lcd screen on the MX320 is hard to read sometimes because there is no backlight. Luckily you only have to use it to set up the printer and fax one time.2. There is only 1 paper tray.CONCLUSION:Every printer requires a compromise in some area. Users of the HP printers I was interested in are reporting problems with Windows Vista, which I confirmed on HP's own site. The Epson model I tried was noisy, slow, and draft text was barely readable. Not to mention I went through 2 Epson's because of print head clogging problems. Brother and Kodak printers are unknown entities to me, although I bought one of the first Kodak printers when they came out and returned it the same day.I have had good luck with other Canon printers and I like their print quality. The MX320/330 seem to be following in the Canon tradition of good quality printers. Unlike many others, I chose a 2 cartridge print system on purpose. My Canon MX830 was an excellent printer but if you change inks one at a time to save ink it seems like you are changing inks 2 times a week. For the money I don't think you can beat the MX320/330 for an all-in-one printer with a G3 fax. If fax capabilities are not needed I would buy the Canon MP480 or MP620 as these are both excellent all-in-ones without the fax at reasonable prices.

I love this printer. I usually have a hard time with printers - the scanning looks terrible, you have to feed paper in get it to print anything, the ink smears, etc. But I have never had any problems with this printer. I have had it for several months now and I love it. The paper feeds through just fine when printing, even if I am printing 10 or more documents. I have never had a problem with the ink smearing. Everything I print looks wonderful. When scanning, which I use quite frequently for school work, I simply hit a button on my computer and the printer does the rest. It is scanned in as a word document instead of a picture. There are many different settings for the scanner, and I have scanned in photos, also, in image format. For somebody like me who usually has a problem with technology, this printer is foolproof. I would recommend this to everybody!

After 7 years I had to replace my Canon MP750. I picked this model which I love but I lost respect for Canon in what they did to the ink cartridges.1) More expensive.2) Built in chip in each cartridge.3) Cannot determine ink level in cartridge, it's a black box.4) Smaller cartriges, less ink but you pay more.

The printers work fine with good quality. The wireless system works seamlessly. Have only had one problem with the printer locking up and found a fix on the internet. The print head jammed. It scans fine and makes good copies. Aftermarket ink is available that saves you tons of money. Canon does not seem to try to hold your feet to the fire and make you buy their ink.

If you buy this printer, get it from a store that accepts returns. I have an iMac and I found it a nightmare to setup but finally got the wireless working. That lasted a couple of weeks. Now when I go to print it keeps kicking out an error message saying no pages present. There is absolutely no explanation in the printed manual or online for what this means. I've uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it twice, went looking for driver updates, re-entered my router password etc. and now it keeps saying it failed to connect to the access point (meaning the router, I assume). There's only so many hours I'm willing to put into something that should be a very simple process (I'm very experienced with computer software and hardware). I plan to return the printer this week and will probably get an HP only because I've heard the setup is very straightforward. This thing is just too much trouble.

I received my printer last weekend, to replace an older HP model that would not work with my Airport Express router. The price for this model was just excellent and the many, many 5-star reviews sold me (plus having some Amazon gift coupons didn't hurt -- nothing like free!). In researching new printers, I was surprised how badly HP had fallen in quality since my last HP printer, which was pretty good, but LARGE.This turned out to be a very good purchase. The low-profile box shape is great on my desk, next to my iMac. Much less visual clutter and more desk space for me to use surrounding it.Setup was very easy, up until I got to Wi-Fi setup. Both the manual that came with the printer and the onscreen step-by-step instructions were very clear. I saw one review that complained about a complicated print-head setup, but I did not have any problem with this whatsoever.I only had a problem when I tried to get it working wirelessly. After numerous tries it refused to recognize the router. Yet, it worked perfectly when I attached a USB cable directly to the iMac. So I called Apple Care and they were wonderfully helpful. The Tech explained that Aiport Express only works when the printer is connected to the router with a USB cable. So who knew? This is not something I noticed in the AE setup manual. So, once I attached the cable to the router, he walked me through the rest of the setup in the Snow Leopard OS. It was clear sailing from then on -- almost. For whatever reason, I couldn't print from Word. The Tech said I might have to uninstall and reinstall Office, which made me unhappy, since I couldn't remember where I'd put my disks (somewhere -- I know I didn't throw them out; I'm not THAT stupid!). He told me to call him back when I located the disks and he'd walk me through it. Great service!But then I went back to my email and opened one and tried to print from there. And, lo and behold, a dialogue box opened that asked if I wanted to make this my new default printer, I said "yes," and it worked. Then, when I went back into Word and tried to print, it worked beautifully. Again, who knew? Later that evening, when I finally opened my new MacBook Pro to set up recognition of the Canon printer, I knew what to do and it worked 1-2-3 no problems at all. Very, very nice!So, I highly recommend the Canon 560. Just know that if you are setting it up with a Mac and an Airport Express router, you will need to follow procedures that are not explained in the setup manual.P.S.: I wanted to write my review yesterday, but for whatever reason Amazon was not selling it directly, only through a 3rd party, and it said that it was being released on June 3rd. No free shipping through Prime, but the price was the same. It also wouldn't let me write a review. When I came back on today, I saw that it was back on Prime. How odd.

i bought this to use in my Humanities PhD program, where I am constantly printing out 8,000,000 page articles, papers, and everything else you can think of. This printer was beyond easy to set up and start using. The functions on the LCD screen are very straightforward and make total sense. No "PC Load Letter" here! it's even pretty enough to have on top of my desk, and it hasn't hiccuped once even though my 10+ lb cats like to sit on it and watch the paper print out below. I've scanned hundreds of old pictures for a professor with ease thanks to this awesome machine. So far i've bought the Canon ink to go along with it, and as far as i can tell, it prints very frugally with the ink. Plus since it's the high quality stuff, i've never had a problem with gummy or bad ink jamming stuff up. this is literally the best printer i've ever had, and i convinced my parents and my neighbor to buy one too. the wireless set up is so easy that when my downstairs neighbor texts me "can i print something on your printer?" i can just switch it to her network and it's done. The photo printing is gorgeous as well, and the added bonus of memory card reader slots on the right side of the unit makes this foolproof.

I used this machine for about 6 months, never had a problem, until I replaced the cartridges for the 4th time, it won't reset the ink! It keeps saying that the ink is low and yes they are a Canon original. Called Canon, try getting someone who speaks english! and the cost associated with the call, it's cheaper to go out and buy a new one, such a disappointment

I bought this because of the great luck I have had over the years with low end Canon printers. Like all basic Canon printers I have owned, this also just works. I selected this for the wireless capability in order to get one piece of hardware off my table.I read the reviews here and elsewhere and was very hesitant of purchasing this because of all the installation problems I read about. If I noticed anything during that informational process it was that the "least tech savvy" reviewers seemed to be having the fewest problems installing this printer on their networks.I found this video guide on Canon's website:[...]I watched it and it was very simple and straight forward. It was done with the assumption that you did not have a degree in computer science.I still was hesitant but purchased the printer anyway. Tonight while getting ready to set it up I remembered so many reviewers stating "just follow the instructions". Other than take the wrappings off and installing the cartridges and plugging it into the wall, I did nothing until I got the video up and playing. I watched it once and then went back and as it told me to do something, I did just what it said and no more until the next instruction.I am set up and running fine. I printed my first page and am very happy that it works and prints just like all those other Canon printers have over the years.So guys...here's the key.... DON'T THINK....just do as you are told, when you are told and all will be fine in Mudville !!!

It works half the time, but when it doesn't it's pretty hard to fix. You need to do quite a bit of maintenance and it takes a while. When it works it prints fairly good quality pictures and words.

I have tried to like this printer but not only is it an ink guzzler, when it works, it does not hold the wireless connection and then you have to figure out how to reconnect each time you use it. Make that basically a time guzzler as well and oh by the way, the ink is very expensive and you get very few sheets printed, particularly if you do not use very often. Won't print if ink is low, which seems to be every time I use it. Will never buy another Canon printer.

This has the distinction of being the only Canon product I've purchased that I'm dissatisfied with. With the warranty period barely expired and only a handful of uses, the LCD screen stopped working. This makes it almost impossible to use the printer.The ink cartridges are also very small, and they run out of ink frequently.I hope the folks at Canon are reading this; I would prefer to pay more for a better product. I purchased this printer due to brand loyalty, but will not return.

In the past I've had an HP printer and an Epson. This one had the worst installation instructions, complicating things with several languages on each page. I had been forewarned that installation was difficult because I read other reviews.I have used other Canon products for many years (cameras, dedicated scanner etc.) and been impressed by the tech support offered. Things are different now. The person I contacted for installation help gave me incorrect instructions and I wasted hours trying to follow his advice.I finally tackled the problem on my own and solved it after much frustration.Another annoyance is the lack of a simple instruction booklet on how to use various features of the printer. I hate having to waste time on the internet trying to figure out how to use a product I've purchased. It couldn't cost Canon much money to provide a simple printed guide to using the printer. It would certainly make customers happier.

The printer worked great for about 7 months then died, it will not power on. I was getting a 6C10 error and then it wouldn't power on. I contacted service if it's too much of a hassle to get it fixed it's going into the recycle bin. No response from Canon support. I will toss this and replace it with another brand.

PROs are covered in other reviews.CONs: wide end of the zoom is not wide enough.Pay attention: SDHC media handling is error prone. I had Transcend 32 GB Class 10 SDHC card TS32GSDHC10E. The camcorder would recognize it as Class 4. Attempts to do complete initialization of SDHC media always failed, but quick initialization succeed. I ignored this and made a 1 hour long recording. The recording is stored in a set of MTS files. It appeared that all MTS files except the first one were corrupted. Thus all but first 10 min of recording were lost.I then replaced the media with Transcend 16 GB SDHC Class 10 card. This one would be recognized as Class 10, complete initialization succeeds and long recordings are OK.I recommend to test camera with your SDHC media for long (20min) recordings.

I've been "all in one" printer shopping for a while. Last week when Office Depot (sorry Amazon) put their version of this printer, the MX430, on sale for FORTY dollars off I couldn't resist. I picked it up for $59 and some change. I've had it just under a week but so far it has been exceptional. I really needed the scanning and fax functions but so far I haven't faxed. I guess I should send a test fax. It scans beautifully and prints high quality documents. Office Depot only sells Brother ink cartridges that are too pricey for my wallet but I've never had any problems with off brand or refilled ink cartridges.For the rock bottom price I paid--HIGHLY recommend!

I ordered this printer to connect to my laptop and primarily print some pictures. I ordered it regular shipping and I think it came two day after I had placed my order. The picture quality is great for happy snaps and photos to send to friends who want prints. If I were to do super hi resolution stuff I would take to a place that does that kind of work. But usually that is not necessary. By the way, I have read several articles lately about the "big box" retailers having a lot of trouble filling orders and providing needed service. All they need to do is take some lessons from Amazon. These folks are very special and do a superb job. I will continue to do most of my shopping on Amazon and encourage my friends to do the same. Thank You Amazon.

The print/scan/copy features all seem to work fine. I do feel like it runs out of ink too fast. I had some trouble setting up the wifi connection, but that's probably not a problem with the printer. Overall, does the job.

I like this printer fine for it's original price: $40. it should have included the usb cord necessary to connect the printer to the computer. it's not a worthy product for $60 which is the price after you've purchased the $20 cord. Also, the software included does not work on Mac OS X 10.4.11 even though the printer is capable for this type of operating system. So people with this have to download a driver online. then everything works.

Very solid printer with good document copying and scanning capability to a USB. (I have not figured out how to get the scan to the computer without a USB or cable.)The wireless function is really great. The printer no longer has to be tethered to the CPU which of course adds great flexibility in where you choose to locate it.As to the Cannon VS HP and others, lets just say I have three printers from HP that all turned into bricks due to print cartridge coding. They were working fine; then poof, they don't see the cartridge anymore. I hear the solution is to buy the overpriced HP ink, though there is no guarantee that the cartridges from HP are not refills, nor that the electronic sensor has been reset.Because of the inconvenience HP printers caused me in the midst of a project I, personally am done with them, even if it does cost me a bit to change out. There is something to be said for keeping pace with technology.

I have only set up this as hardwired device because my laptop is currently having Bluetooth capability issues. Therefore, I can not comment on the wireless aspect of this device.Setting up the software and hardplugging it to the computer took only about 5 minutes and was seamless.For the price, this is a great printer. It's relatively fast - prints about a 8x10 picture in one minute, or 8 black-and-white pages in a minute. The borderless photo printing is a great option and the printer quality is a lot better than professional printing at CVS, Walmart, or similar.Overall, this has become my go-to printer for photos. (Until the ink costs get me).
