There are places on Amazon trying to sell this printer for $250 plus $50 shipping. I bought mine from Amazon for $114 with free Prime shipping. They said it normally ships in 2-4 weeks, but I received mine in only 5-6 days. This printer easily rates 5-stars. It is as good or better a printer than any printer I've owned. It's the first large format printer I've owned. It seems like they all started at several hundred dollars a year or two ago. At less than $150, I think it would be impossible to be disappointed with this printer.I've already made several 13"x19" B&W prints and I think they look great (I can't comment on color prints). These prints are over 2.5 times as large as an 8.5"x11" print. I can't emphasize enough how awesome it is to be able to make prints like this at home for only about $1 a sheet (for Canon Plus Glossy II, which also gets 5-stars). I also think the taller & skinnier format is better, at least for my purposes (less cropping). The ink dries very quickly for handling, and dries enough for framing under glass in just a day or two.I have just one complaint: if you select the bordered (full) layout, it leaves a wider border than my previous printers - about 3/16" vs. 1/10". With the new larger frames I bought, I could see a thin white line (nothing a Sharpie and a straight edge couldn't fix). Of course, the printer will print borderless, so it's no much of a problem.All-in-all, I think this may be the best purchase I've ever made through Amazon. I think it's certainly made me the happiest.***update***It's been a week and I've already made 15 13"x19" prints (13 b&w and 2 color). That's the equivalent of 39 8.5"x11" prints. Each one looks better than the last as I get a better feel for how to estimate the print from the on screen view, but they all look great. I've just got the warning that the 3 color cartridges are low, but I may get another print or two out of them. The black dye is down about 25% and the black pigment doesn't appear to have been used yet.Over the past few years, I've probably made about 35-40 8.5"x11" prints with my Epson printer. I've had to replace all 6 dye cartridges at least twice in that time, and some of them 3 times. I've also done some very limited text printing, like tax returns and etc.Overall, I'm very pleased with how long the ink lasts with the Canon.TIP:For printing, I've only used the software that came with the printer. If you size your picture to 13x19 (.684 or 1.462 ratio), and you select full size bordered, the margins on the short sides are a little thicker than the long edges. I've found that you need to size your picture for 13x19.25 (.675 or 1.481 ratio) to get the borders even and as small as possible - at least that's what works best with my printer.

Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Color Professional Inkjet Photo PrinterI purchased this printer from Amazon to replace a Canon Pixma ix6520 wide format printer. The Pro-100 produces outstanding prints both in color and B&W. I have been testing this printer with Canon paper LU-101, SG-201, and PT-101. Printing from either Lightroom 4 or Canon Print Studio Pro (software included with the printer). The output is equal to or better than what you will receive from “online printers” or Costco, Walmart, etc. The only problem, if it is even a problem, is the footprint of this 50-pound printer. Of course, as it is wireless, it can be placed in any area in your home and not necessarily next to your computer.

After years of owning HP printers, I decided (based on good reviews) to try Canon. I purchased this particular model (in May 2012) because it was the closest I could find to my former HP. It installed with no problems, and prints beautifully.Would I buy it again? Absolutely NOT!!!!! This printer goes through ink like no other printer I have ever used.I am not a small business, and my printing is limited to the occasional list/envelope/check/letter - all done in black ink. What I find very interesting is that my color cartridges have had to be replaced - although the color feature is turned off. (I haven't a clue as to where THAT ink has gone!!!)When I have used the ink supply I have on hand, I will most likely purchase another printer - one that isn't so (ink) greedy.Note: Unlike the HP printers I have owned, when this Pixma is out of ink - IT'S OUT..............never mind the fact that a page is half-way through the printing process. And this, in spite of the fact that the cartridges still "show" that they have ink left in them.

I bought this printer two years ago and it's still working great. I've had some issues with the wireless network. But it's always been a quick fix. Setups on laptops are also easy and work great. Instant print notification lets you know the printer is working great. The fax feature is awesome as well. It gives you the option to always have it on or always off. There is another setting but I didn't mess with it. lol. Paper tray holds a good amount of paper unless your printing a book. Overall a great printer for the money. Ink is reasonably priced (WORD OF ADVICE: ALWAYS USE CANON INK.) Never substitute with another brand unless you know it works.

Being a college student, I need a good multifunction machine. I went through many other cheaper machines that just did not last or never worked right to begin with. This machine has been my favorite by far and has been so reliable. I have had it for about 3 years now and it has NEVER let me down. For the price, its great and well made. The ability to change inks separately is great, and the ink tanks themselves last quite a while and are not terribly expensive. Most office stores like Staples or Office Depot will recycle them and then give you store discounts. The software and drivers that this machine uses are also great and very unobtrusive, something that tends to be a problem with some printers. Canon is also an excellent company, they still build their machines to be somewhat fixable. In my experience most of the other makes like HP or other cheaper brands are throw away printers once something malfunctions. If I had to buy another printer, this is the one I would buy.

I received this printer as a gift. It was largely useless, and now doesn't work at all.The biggest issue was that it would lose connectivity and just stop printing in the middle of a page. It did this on probably a full third of my print jobs. I would just have to throw the half-finished documents away, wasting the paper and the ink used to print it. If you print frequently, that's a lot of wasted paper. Then, two months after the warranty ran out, it stopped feeding paper. After a brief troubleshooting process, Canon proclaimed that it was broken and offered to sell me another one with a "loyalty discount" that is based on their inflated MSRP and would end up being slightly more expensive than what was paid for it in the first place.

I bought this printer almost a year ago and it has served us well on this time. The printer, scanner, and copier functions all work very well and the printing quality is good. The ink is fairly reasonably priced (and it's easy to find good deals if you look) though the printer seems to underestimate how much ink is left as both times the printer has said the ink was about to run out, the ink lasted for another month at least before actually running out. Wireless printing is great, I couldn't imagine going back to having to physically attach printer to computer. Being able to set a stack of documents in the tray and have it automatically scan them all is very convenient and much better than having to do them manually one at a time. Only two complaints about this printer are that it is a little slow to start up and it is a little on the loud side, especially when starting up/shutting down. Overall happy with the purchase and would buy this printer again.

I bought this printer to print photos, particularly 11 x 17. I have three other printers that I use for photo printing includin a three or four years old HP8250 which still makes a better photo print than the new Canon. The Canon has a red bias which is typical of Canon printing an scanning products. I have reduced the red in settins by 20 points and it shows improvement. However althogh I have a calibrated monitor all photo prints are much darker than what they shoud be. Have not been able to fix that. Ink usage is above normal whe compared to other printers doing exactly the same job. I should mention that I have been using Canon photo paper glossy ll. I would recomend it with the reservations made. The printer is neat looking and the foot print is acceptable.

Admittedly, professional studio level black and white reproduction was never within my range of expectations from this dye-based printer. Nevertheless, the pronounced brownish/sepia tinting was truly shocking. In fact, the black and white tonality is decidedly inferior to what I have achieved in the past using far less sophisticated and much less expensive Canon printers with rudimentary photo editing software. I spent a couple of hours this afternoon on the phone with a ten-year veteran Canon tech assistant who led me through myriad software tweaks and settings. There was no improvement. He concluded with the observation that he is not aware of a single positive review with regard to the black and white printing capabilities of the PRO-100.On the other hand, my [thus far] limited color printing has produced excellent results and there is much which commends the PRO-100 if your output consists almost entirely of color photos. But unless the rep and I both overlooked the "solution", this device is not the answer for quality black and white reproduction.

I love this printer! Purchased it about 5 years ago and it was well worth the money I spent. It is rugged, durable, good print quality, reasonably price ink, and nice ink yield. I do lots of volunteer work in an administrative capacity and tote around the equivalent of a mobile office with laptop, printer and office accessories. I am on my third laptop now but still running my same trusty little printer. I had zero problems with it. The printer is stored in a wheeled mobile cart and in and out of my vehicle almost daily. The printer shows no sign of wear or tear. I do mostly document printing and have only printed a few photos off of it but the quality of the photos was very impressive. When I first purchased this printer it was between this and a HP 470, but I was sold because I know a number of folks that do similar work and they own the older Canon portable photo printer (iP70 - I believe) and they love their printers too their only problem they have is locating ink for them even now. So even if mine was rendered useless today I would not hesitate to purchase it again. It has been worth every cent I paid for it!

Stunning prints: sharp, colourful and high dynamic range. Ink consumption seems to be reasonable - I've printed numerous 13 x 19 and 11 x 8.5 prints and ink tanks are at 50%. I have a calibrated 27inch Imac display and the prints coming out of the printer are very similar to the output on the display.I like the Canon Print Studio plug-in, except it is not available for Apple's Aperture.Note: The instruction page that came with the printer indicated that at some point during the installation the printer has to go through a print head calibration. Mine did not require this step - I don't know why. This printer offers a lot of bang for buck, considering that you can get this printer for below $400 dollars and it is capable of truly excellent prints.

I got this on sale for 29 dollars from Fry's but figured I would review it on Amazon because that is where a lot of people are probably buying these things.Photo quality, even with a good grade of photo paper, was just OK. I'd give it a rating of 'passable' for any photos that are quickly glanced at. Granted, I do my own fair share of professional photography and am comparing this to the likes of companies like WHCC, Mpix and other pro grade printers; but I would rate the photo quality of this printer as even with, or just slightly below, your standard 1 hour place(walgreens, rite-aid, Target, Wal-Mart, etc). Color is pretty accurate if you are properly calibrated but there is only so much you can do with the inexpensive print head on this particular model.Text is clean and I got sharp, distinguishable characters in most fonts down to about the 4-5 point range.Construction is decent. It's not a bad looking printer at all and will fit into any modern decor. The plastic on all accounts is a little flimsy but for the price, it's understandable. Don't expect much out of the (included)standard cartridges. I've printed five full color glossy 8x10's and few pages of text and I've depleted about 1/3 of the color cartridge. The black still registered as full. The "xl" cartridges that Canon sells are about the same price as the printer(30-50 dollars), so take your pick... buy a new printer when the ink is gone or replace the cartridges. Nearly the same cost either way, but I think you will get far more prints out of the "xl" cartridges. I've heard the cartridges Canon includes are sort of a 'sampler'.We needed a color printer for my sons kindergarten class and I bought it on a whim(after a quick iPhone amazon.com review check!) hoping I might get lucky and find this incredible deal on a Canon printer that would 'do it all' for 29 bucks. Well; it doesn't. It was easy to setup and gives (overall)decent print results. If you're showing your grandparents 4x6's prints of your family vacation, need an inkjet printer purely for text, or just something to print simple graphics; this is your printer. If you are a photographer, delivering proofs to his/her client(s)... let's just say, I wouldn't buy from you! ;)3 stars. Fantastic 'bargain' printer but if you want 'good' across the board, you'll need to spend more money. A LOT more money...

This printer was purchased as a birthday present for my mother, who has been hampered by a Windows Vista computer and a malfunctioning HP Printer (it worked great with XP...). We purchased the Canon PIXMA MP560 printer for $85 (free shipping) on Amazon, and comparing the price to other retailers online (and the retail price), it was no contest. This printer has some features that you may already know of via the product description page, but I'd like to elaborate on some of these features.Thoughts out of the box:-The MP560 has a folding LCD screen that covers the function buttons. The screen is not too large, but it does seem to have large enough text (and a simple GUI) to work well for novice printer users. There are not too many buttons, and they're large, well-marked, and simple enough for anyone to recognize.-The printer has a lower paper tray (for regular inkjet/copier paper) and an upper vertical tray (for thicker photo paper and other things). The vertical tray has an automatic two-sided width adjustment/alignment, so any size paper is aligned to the proper position every time (and the thickness is adjustable from maximum printing width of the printer, down to only an inch or so).-The basic instruction manual is printed on paper, and easily guided me through the process of installation of the print head/ink, paper, software, and wireless network capability. This guide has simple words and illustrations, though it does not include every detail of the printer's operations (the more complex instruction/user manual is electronic, and is installed with the printer software). There is a Network Troubleshooting guide, as well, that seems to be rather detailed (though unnecessary in my case). The printer comes with a sample pack of 4"x6" photo paper, which we immediately tested (and it passed the test with flying colors). There's other throw-away junk included, but nothing that surprising.-The printer is clearly labeled so as to make it simple to place cartridges in the right location, once the print head is installed.-The fact that the MP560 has multiple single-color ink cartridges may seem expensive at first, but with tri-color cartridge printers, we would always seem to run out of a single color much faster than other colors... so we were wasting a good amount of ink each and every time we replaced a cartridge. This printer seems to have ink cartridges that would be easier to refill than some other cartridges, as well. After powering it on:-It was EFFORTLESS to set up the MP560 on our wireless network. It quickly detected the network (our router is on another floor in the house, on the other side of the house), and it still had a good quality signal, and it only took a few minutes (and only a couple pushes of a button... plus entering our internet security key) before the printer was connected. There is a rotating pad (similar to an IPod) on the printer that lets you select any security codes you may have (and navigate through the GUI)... so it may take awhile if one has an alphanumeric password, but it was rather quick for a numeric 8-key code. Heck, my mom is not too familiar with computers, and I have no doubts that she could have set up this printer with the network.-The printer comes with easy to use software (again, in Vista), though it does take a few minutes for the software to install itself on a PC. The basic instruction manual makes it rather easy to install everything, whether using Windows or Mac. Once installed, the printer is rather effortlessly found (remember to have attached the printer to the wireless network), and before you know it, you're ready to print.-The printer has a laser ink level meter for every cartridge, and it can be displayed on the computer and on the 2" LCD screen on the printer (actually, pressing one button on the "Home" screen will allow you to see each ink level). So far, it does not appear as if this printer over-uses ink... in fact, printing on glossy photo paper seems to suggest there's less "gunk" on the paper than some other printers, perhaps due to the finer ink jets this printer allegedly uses.Using the printer for the first time:-The printer and software actually WORK WELL with Windows Vista!-The printer does take a few seconds to warm up, but after the first print job, it seems to be much faster.-The MP560 didn't have a single problem feeding thicker photo paper.-The quality of printed pictures is very good, showing very tight pixels even on plain paper. Photo paper shows an excellent picture quality, and the software included with the printer makes it effortless to print photos with certain photo papers... no need to change printer settings manually.-The scanner/copier seems to produce quality pictures, although this isn't the fastest, nor the quietest, copier I've seen in a multi-use printer.-The Duplex printing feature is a great thing to have in a lower-cost home printer, as few documents are of an official, legal nature, hence there's no n

Considering that the next "up" model is almost twice the price - and the main features added are the increased resolution for scanning and the auto duplex printing - but at the cost having to manage more number of cartridges, this model provides a compelling value. The biggest issue seems to be the tad slowness of the printer over Wi-Fi (could be attributed to the network itself, perhaps) - especially when you set a duplex print with multiple pages on a sheet. I have had to re-send the print job about 25% of the time. That is a minor inconvenience. But for someone expecting this to be their workhorse printer over Wi-Fi, this will be a major hassle. Fax seems to be quite good though I have not used it extensively. The ability to print photos via SD card is a bonus (not available in the lesser priced model), though I don't anticipate to print photos frequently (using online services is certainly cheaper for this). The main issue is that if you choose to power down the unit - you have to re-enter the WiFi information each time you switch it on. That is a major disappointment when most devices have some capability to remember WiFI settings even when powered off.Bottom line - if auto-duplexing and greater scanning resolution is important, you are better off buying the 2X-priced model (MX882- Canon Pixma MX882 Wireless Office All-in-One Inkjet Printer (4894B002), if you need to be able to print directly from a memory card and have also ethernet connection you wont be satisfied with the entry level model (MX410 - Canon Pixma MX410 Wireless Office All-In-One Printer (4788B018). For most home use, this printer offers a truly compelling value (savvy shoppers may want to monitor the price frequently - shifts of about 12-15$ are common for this model) and well worth the 30-40 dollar difference with MX410.

PROS: This printer produces fine prints. No complaints there. It's fast enough, produces good color, nothing out of the ordinary. It also scans images. Again, nothing spectacular.CONS: Oh dear, the setup, and continued setup. I wanted to set this thing up wirelessly so that multiple computers can print to it. Well, lemme tell you something. Connecting a device that has no screen to a wireless network = endless error codes that you have to decipher. "E1" eh? What the hell does that mean? You need to change the password to your Wi-Fi hotspot? Go through the whole setup process again to reset the password. You buy a new router? Be prepared to have to set up your printer again. You want to print something, but haven't printed in a while? Power the printer on, error shows up... literally unplug the printer from the AC and plug back in again.Conversely, I bought my dad a HP printer that had a touchscreen and we were up and running in under 10 minutes.

Don't buy this printer if you plan on printing things in under 15 minutes. Really, I mean 15 minutes. In fact I'm writing this review while I'm waiting for a simple 2-page MS Word document to print. Things just click and spin around in there while it gets ready to print. Another thing that is absolutely awful is it's ink usage. I don't care that it uses a lot of ink. I care that it won't print if any of the ink cartridges are empty. Why won't it print my black and white document if it's out of magenta? It won't even print if the back up black and white cartridge is empty. This thing is a major source of my frustration. Oh there we go, my document is done.

I have rarely been so frustrated as when trying to set up this printer on a network with it's built in wireless capabilities. You need no less than 4 different utilities installed on your computer. None of the utilities perform as described in the online instructions. Eventually I figured it out (with a quite a bit of luck). The easiest way to do this is just buy an airport express and connect the printer via USB, but then why pay extra for a wireless-enabled printer. If you buy a canon printer, just set aside an hour or so for clicking and praying (and cursing).Terrible software, really. Canon must gave put a lot of effort into avoiding intuitiveness and making sure their software and instructions don't correlate to one another.

UPDATE (2011/03): Canon is phasing out this printer, replacing it with the MG5220. As supply runs low, this old model is offered by third parties at a higher price. Go with the new model, save money, enjoy full ' Mac OS X compatibility out of the box. Namaste. My old review:--------------------------------------I wrote this review to help Mac OS X 10.6 users. If you are a Windows user, please read the other reviews of this product. This is a high quality, versatile, quiet, well thought out, well built all-in-one printer. As with other brands, the included software is pile of unnecessary mediocre ugly looking confusing mess. Canon makes a mistake by not offering a driver only installation, which would allow us to use the printer and the scanner without installing their proprietary software suite. I am set out to correct their mistake...Connecting the printer to WiFi is very simple, just navigate in the printer's setup menu on it's LCD, select your network and type in the password. The blue WiFi LED will confirm that the printer is connected. To be able to print wirelessly, you have to have the latest drivers. To install them, forget about the CD in the box (it has OS X 10.5 compatible drivers only), and the 13 page "Getting Started" guide to install stuff you don't need. Just download the latest drivers from the Canon USA website. Go to Canon USA :: Downloads :: Consumer Products :: Multifunction :: Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printers :: PIXMA MP560, grab and install these files:- MP560 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 10.26.1.0 (Mac OS X 10.5/10.6)- MP560 series Scanner Driver Ver. 15.4.1 (Mac OS X 10.3/10.4/10.5/10.6)- ICA Driver (Mac OS X 10.6)(the version numbers might change when updates are coming out)Once the printer drivers are installed on your Mac and it's connected to the same WiFi network as the printer, just go to System Preferences / Print & Fax / + (add printer) and wait a few seconds. You will see a "Canon MP560 Series Bonjour Scanner" and a "Canon MP560 Series_NNNNNN0000000 canonijnetworkr" printer listed, you can add them and you are ready to print and scan! When adding, you can edit the name to make it look a little bit nicer. If you prefer, you can connect the printer via an USB cable and the printer will be automatically installed.I spent hours trying to figure this all out on my iMac, I installed the contents of the CD, tried to upgrade the drivers from the Apple and the Canon websites. Once I understood what needed to be done, it took only minutes to install the drivers on my two MacBook's. Save yourself some headache and keep your Mac clean of bloated junkware by installing only the drivers you need. These will allow you to control all the printer's functions (duplex, paper size and type, alignment, head cleaning, ink levels, etc.), and even your spouse and kids will be able to use them. Why can not these instructions be found on Canon's support pages? Why is their installation procedure so messy? Trust me, it's not a Mac problem, their Windows soluition is equally complicated. Will the situation be better once their printers ship with OS X 10.6 compatible drivers? I think the core problem is that they are not listening to their customers. If they did, you'd see a reply from a Canon official under my review. Don't look, it won't be there...This printer supports direct iPhone printing if you install the free "Canon Easy-Photoprint" app from the Apple App Store. You will be able to print to 4x6" photo paper right from your iPhone when both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.I recommend this printer, it does a nice job once it's set up. Do not hesitate to buy it if you are on Snow Leopard. But call Canon's support line and tell them they should not overcomplicate the printer installation process.Update 1: If you have any kind of trouble with the printer or the installation, call Canon Support at 1-800-828-4040, they are very good with Mac's and willing to spend the time figuring out problems. My iMac could not detect the printer through WiFi no matter what I tried while my MacBook's could print flawlessly. Canon support figured out that Parallels was interfering with the network settings even when not running. I doubted it, but Parallels support confirmed it. I had to remove Parallels, install the printer and re-instal Parallels. All works now.Update 2: For occasional single page scanning jobs Snow Leopard's built-in Image Capture is sufficient. If you want to catalog your scans, convert them to multi-page PDF's, use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to create editable text files from of your scans, you should download and install Canon's "MP Navigator EX 3.0". My first photo printer was a Pixma 4000. It worked beautifully for over 7 years before it died, and I got a ton of high-quality photos and documents out of it. When it gave up the ghost, I went shopping for another Canon. The online reviews lauded the print quality of the iX6520 but emphasized that it doesn't have an LCD screen or slots for media cards. Fortunately, I didn't need either of those features. I probably could have gotten a slightly cheaper printer (I paid $99, about 1/2 of list price), but it is perhaps the only relatively inexpensive printer that can print photos as large as 13 x 19. Haven't printed that size yet, but looking forward to trying it. I've only had the printer for a short time, but I printed a 43-page photo album (8.5 X 11) and I'm very pleased with the photo quality, ease of use, and overall performance. Also, each inkjet cartidge has its own little built-in red light that shows you that you installed the cartridge correctly - what a fun and geeky Star Trek kind of feature! ; )

First, and probably least important, this printer is quite good looking - black and sleek. I have had another Canon printer for a decade or so, so am familiar with the Canon printer. This one was easy to set up and easy to use. I have printed my photograph of the beautiful waterfall just outside, east of, Portland, Oregon. It came out beautiful, including the water spots on my camera lens from the dampness of the falls. I have printed several different kinds of things, and they came out quickly enough and well done. I am a 74 year old lady, and I appreciate its quality, ease of set up and ease of use.

This review is for the Canon Pixma Mx882. This machine is an ink hog. Even if you are printing black and white documents or have set it to print in greyscale it will continue to use the color inks to mix into the shades of black. This is a bald attempt to use up ink and force the consumer to buy more. I have printed very few color documents and already the ink tanks on three colors have run out. This is outrageous. There is no way to get it to print a black and white document when the black ink tanks are full if any of the colors are empty.I am going to get rid of this ripoff and get a printer that will not use colored ink unless I want a colored document or photo.

A prompt and efficient way to deal with a customer issue.

I have now had this Canon MX882 wireless all-in-one printer for about 2 weeks (October 2011) and am a very "happy camper".It replaced a Canon MX860 that had been used on a daily basis and always functioned flawlessly until it stopped working after 28 months of use ("Error Code 5C20" - apparently a defective logic board, not worth repairing). This is not the fastest printer available, but it performs noticeably better than its predecessor - the MX860. Speed is not important for the circumstances in which I personally will be using this device (home office setting). If you are a "speed demon" and truly need or simply want something faster, then get a different printer. Don't complain about this all-in-one being too slow! There are other faster printers out there for you, go and buy one!Print quality always has been and continues to be top notch. Canon printer ink is "good stuff" as far as I am concerned. However, I do regret not being able to use any of my still remaining new MX860 print cartridges since the MX882 does require different size Canon print cartridges.Scanning works wonderfully well and the Canon software included with the Pixma MX882 itself (for PC use) provides readily available and simple solutions for most of my printing/graphics needs that arise on a daily basis. These last 2 Canon printers that I have owned (MX860 and the present MX882) originally replaced a very tall, large/bulky and "extremely noisy" HP multifunction device which had great difficulties connecting to my wireless network. I must have run the installation software for the HP more than 10 times to finally get something to happen. HP Technical Support also did not provide much help in solving this software installation problem.I finally got rid of this HP multifunction device after a little more than one year of ownership. Before then, I also had owned nothing but a long unbroken line of HP printers going back more than 10 years. What a difference when moving to the Canon Pixma printer line: great much smaller footprint and extremely intelligent design of the MX882 all-in-one overall with absolutely no problems of any sort connecting to my wireless network. It connected right away the very first time, just like its predecessor the MX860.As far as I am concerned, I will "never" purchase another HP printer! Canon will be getting all of my future printer business unless something unexpectedly and significantly better comes along.

I bought this same printer about 10 or 12 years ago. I couldn't believe how beautiful the color was. I used it until it finally gave out. I'm a teacher and I make lots of materials for my students. I spent lots of time trying to find another color printer that was comparable, but without success. The Canon i475D puts out beautiful color and the ink is reasonably priced. For a teacher, that's a big plus. I finally bought an HP color printer because I have a great HP laser printer that I use all the time when I don't need color. It turned out to be money down the drain. I asked God to provide me with a new Canon i475D printer and He did! Hurray! I've got my new Canon i475D up and running and I am soooo happy.

The quality of the prints from this printer are amazing. In fact, we find that the printed photos are even better than we had thought they'd be based on viewing the photos on our Macs. We've printed large 8 x 10s (two per 19 x 13 page) as well as 4x6s. The 4x6s look like post cards. The quality is astounding.Setting up the printer took a while and WiFi WPS can be challenging (took a few google searches to figure out how to do WPS on our router).Ink supply seems large - with so many different colors/shades, it should last a long time.Did I mention how gorgeous the prints are? Highly recommended!

I got this printer from my son as a Christmas gift. I set it up on December 26th - it didn't work. Amazon had sent a defective unit. I was really frustrated. I figured it would be weeks before I had a working printer again. I emailed Canon explaining the situation. Usually a company tells you it'll be two or three business days before they reply. This was a holiday weekend,so I didn't expect much. The next morning I checked my email. There was a rather lengthy email from Canon explaining the steps I should take to get the machine going. I had already done all that they had told me, but I did it again anyway - all to no avail. The printer still didn't work. The representative also said that I was eligible for a warranty exchange, that they would pay shipping charges both ways. I emailed Canon back saying I wanted an exchange. Still I didn't expect much. Maybe in a month I would get a new printer.Well, was I surprised. The next day I got another email from Canon telling me my new printer was on its way. They gave me a tracking number. On December 30th, I had my replacement printer. It took me literally two minutes to set up the wireless conection. The printer is fast and relatively quiet. I am very happy with it.At this time I cannot comment on ink usage or how the machine will perform over time. Perhaps I'll write an addendum to this review in six months. This printer replaced an Epson cx-4400, which suddenly stopped working after two and a half years of light use. The Epson was slow, very noisy, and seemed to thirst for ink. It was not wireless which in itself is a big advantage my Canon has.Overall I have to give this printer five stars partly based on the exceptional customer service I got.ADDENDUM 2/1/2011Well, I've had this printer for a little over a month now,and I have some further observations.First of all, my advice is NOT to read the confusing and frustrating booklet called "getting started". I had a few days to read over this booklet, and I still can't figure it out (all I can think of is that it was put together by a group of low-paid idiots). I would suggest that you just follow the on-screen instructions and your printer will be all set to go in a few minutes.Second, learn from my experience. I print from a little netbook, so I do not have a disk drive. I downloaded the software from the Canon site. I first downloaded the drivers and ran the setup program. As I said, this took all of about two minutes. The printer printed a test page wirelessly. The print quality was great and the printer printed really fast.I eventually wanted to scan documents, but I waited another few days before I downloaded and installed the scan program. I downloaded and installed the "MP Navigaor" program. The printer wouldn't work wirelessly. I reinstalled the drivers. That did the trick. The printer worked wirelessly again. Apparently, you have to install the Navigator program first and then the drivers. Finally, one last observation. The software isn't too user friendly. I've had to jump through many superfluous hoops to get things done. Everything works, but I think Canon has to streamline the software for this printer to make it easier to use for the average user.overall, I am happy with this machine. Just save the "getting started" for leisurely reading some night when you have nothing else to do.See you in six months with another addendum.

After several years of using Epson All-in-One printers I changed to Canon in the hope that the printer would last longer because the printer heads are on the ink cassettes.I print a lot on heavy paper such as business cards, heavy photo paper and photo sticker paper and after 3-4 sheets this printer balks and stops printing, wasting half a sheet of paper, or pulls the sheet back into the printer and creates a paper jam.My Epson printers would happily print 10-20 sheets without any problems, so any saving on the longer lfe of this printer wil be offset by the expense of wasted paper and the annoyance of having to reset the printer or allow it to rest after a few sheets of paper. The only plus is the ease of removal of paper jams since there is a door under the printer where the paper can be removed easily.I have had far more problems with this printer, such as frequent "printer errors" coming up that refused to resolve and required a trip back to the shop, than I ever had with my Epson printers so I shall probably not buy Canon again.

Crisp & vibrant photo's I'm producing using this pro-100 printer.Bought this mainly because of dpi increase from my hp 8300series.You can tell a big huge difference.Wanted to print larger format pictures, & my canon 5320 printer only print up to 8.5 x 11.5.Now compared to both canon printers... there is little difference. The 5320 in my opinion matches the pro 100 pretty evenly. There is a little increase indetailed, color shades etc.I love them both.It took me a while to set up because somehow the orange problem light kept lighting up afterinstalling cartridges.... found out the housing that seats cartridges have to seat in printer correctly,or this will not print... kept installing & uninstalling...It finally worked.Another thing.... this printer is very very heavy. Aside that I do recommend this printer for excellent printing results.

I ordered this as a replacement for a dead ip4700. It had all the features I was looking for:

1) Duplex printing
2) Double paper cassette
3) Separate ink cartridges
4) Good Driver software
5) Manual

However, a few disappointments mean that I'm only rating 3 stars

a) Double paper cassette is NOT what I expected, wanted or comparable to the 4700. The second cassette is only usable for photo paper of up to 5X7. I wanted to use two A4 cassettes, one for scrap/cheap paper and one for double sided printing on good quality paper.

b) Ink cartridges are VERY expensive. A set of 5 at full price costs almost as much as the printer. There are some offers, but not many. High capacity cartridges cost even more than the printer for a set of 5. There do not seem to be any compatible cartridges available at the moment.

c) Software installs where it wants to, and gives no option to install elsewhere!

d) On screen manual is very basic.

Quite possibly the best printer out there for the money. I say that because admittingly this IS the most expensive I myself ever owned, for what it's worth. Enough praise cannot be said about this printer. It does everything it says it supposed to do-- only better. Here are some pros and cons about this printer.Pros:*Fast (at least faster than my last printer)*Acceptable amount of printer function noise*Easy WIFI setup is really nice*Having an "out-of-sight" paper tray beneath the printer for loading paper is an unexpected (really) nice surprise in design*Function buttons are easy to understand and use...with the option to select either black or color printing at your discretion on the front panel being a nice useful touch.*Thoughtful easy to understand setup instructions are provided as well as a web address to assist if setup problems should occur*I'm finding out more Pros as I use this thing!Cons: None yet....and I don't expect any for a long time. The (outstanding) reviews are what really made me purchase this printerNoteworthy: Just for record sake, my last printer was an Epson Workforce 615. I bought it from an apple store. Probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life...worst printer I ever owned-- besides being an "ink hog" it never did anything right. Frustrated-I then loaded it to my son to see what he could with it and told him that if he could make it work, then he can have it. Let's just say that I had to keep him from throwing it out the window. I wish I had checked the reviews on before I bought it. I thought Epson was king of the printer world...I was seriously wrong. The only uneasy thing I would have to admit is the fact that I have not had this printer long enough to see if this is another "ink hog"...I'll have to wait and see. But to be really honest, with all the great things this printer does so well, I really wouldn't mind if it tends to use more ink than I had anticipated. No harm done. This printer has so many positives that it really wouldn't matter should a negative come up, to me anyway.Great Job Canon! Thanks!

I have been using this printer for 2 years now. I haven't had single problem, except for very minor annoyances. It's connected to my router through wifi, and all the computers on the network with the Canon software can use the printer/scanner easily.First and most important thing for me was the cost per page. This cost is usually higher on inkjet printers than laser printers. To reduce this cost, I look for 3rd party compatible cartridges rather than expensive OEM ones. While most other manufacturers keep updating their hardware and software to make any non-original cartridge incompatible, this is not the case with Canon (at least for now). I have used 3-4 set of compatible cartridges with pretty good results. I printed documents, wedding invitations, and even photos. While passport photos on small photo paper looks pretty good, I failed to print a big photo (even the original ink on matte photo paper looked horrible - I must have missed some setting or the paper is bad). There are 2 black in tanks (one dye black, and one pigment black) One of the black ink tanks is for photo printing only.Another money saving-feature is the duplex printing. Once enabled in the options, the printer will now use both side of the paper. It will print front first, and then it will pull the paper back to print on the back.Scanning works like a charm. You can scan to any of your computers, or to USB memory. Unfortunately there is no paper feeder for the scanner. So you have to put each page on the glass one by one. If you have hundreds of pages to scan, good luck.User interface is easy to use. There is an LCD screen you flip up where you see the menu. I like the wheel which helps you navigate through the options. Now as for the annoyances... I had problems shutting it down. Whenever I wanted to do a hard restart, and I push the power button the message on the LCD says "shutting down". And it stays like that until I unplug the power cord. For the expats living in Japan, I can tell you that this printer works fine in Japan as well even if you buy the US version.

The Canon Pixma MX882 printer truly is excellent. The ease of printing, scanning, and copying is remarkable. I am pretty adept at computer-related activities, but it would be quite simple for the "non-technologist" to figure out how the printer works.I use the printer in wireless mode, and the wireless setup was a breeze. I've owned this for more than a year, I don't recall ever facing a wireless issue.I have printed a few pictures with the printer, and the photos are of pretty good quality, but not quite as high as most would like for their pictures. Even with the printer, I get my pictures printed professionally. The one major downside of this printer is that it uses ink quite quickly. Besides that, the ink for this printer is not cheap. As a result, I am spending quite a bit more on ink than I would like.Overall, it's a great printer, but a bit more expensive than I would like for the ink.

Unique would have had me send the whole thing back.Had the printer for a little longer now. Gaining more experience with it. Still a very good printer. Uninstall - reinstall - uninstall - reinstall over and over and over..... Got it working yet again (probably 3 hours of "setting up" each time mind you). It worked for about 2 hours. Yeah, it only cost $50 when I bought it. Spent twice that on ink so far. Piece of crap. Works great with the USB cord, but that defeats the point of a wireless printer. No more Canon anything here.

We bought this nine months ago for one of our kids attending college. She's been very pleased with the print quality, plus being able to scan/copy documents and both save the scan as well as print it. She's used it a great deal and it's held up well. The wireless feature allowed her to place the printer in a corner out of the way.I talked her through the installation over the phone (I had downloaded the user manul from teh Canon website) and it while it took a while, it went very smoothly. The only comment she's made is that it does use more ink than her old printer. However, the print quality is much better with this one. She does like the fact that there are five ink cartridges, so she only replaces the ones that are empty instead of replacing the old style three colors in one color cartridge type that probably still had ink left in them. It's a good product.
