Have enjoyed printer as far as speed, quality of printing, and quality of scanner. That said, just a few downsides. I found out this week that scanner will not work if machine is out of ink. Why? I was notified that machine runs diagnostics and an empty ink cartridge will not permit machine to complete diagnostics. Most likely this is not specific just to Canon printers, but this has been my experience with the Canon MP560.Vance Packard wrote a book well over 30 years ago, which addressed planned obsolescence. This seems like a variation of that, like a sneaky way to get you to go buy ink. Also, the new ink cartridges are hard-sided, and equipped w/ sensors. The older Canon printer I owned had soft-sided cartridges, which enabled me to use every single drop of ink.

I like this printer for a few reasons:PROSIt was inexpensive.It prints REALLY nice photosThe ink doesn't run out too soonIt looks good on my deskThe copier function is brainless. Push a button and print.It was easy to connect and set up with my Mac.CONS: Ink tanks are tiny but that seems to be standard for all home printers.

This is a great printer for the price. The initial cost of the printer is very low. The cost of replacement ink is higher than I would like, but I have not had to replace the ink cartridges that came with the printer yet, even though the black ink has had a "low ink" warning since about the first week. I have now had the printer about a month. I love the fact that it comes with an OCR utility. I have already used that option. I have had no trouble with the paper feed. The sheets come through one at a time. I have not had a paper jam yet. All-in-all, it is a great printer for the price.

I won't waste time going over everything the other hundreds of reviewers have said about this printer. Here's why I love it.(1) Great on ink. I bought it at the end of last year, use it often, and just now ran out of magenta ink (once I started actually printing photo's). I think that's great being that its almost a year later and the black cartridges are still about half full.(2) Easy set up. I'm pretty computer savvy, but the follow along directions were simple and in a couple of minutes, my Acer laptop had recognized this printer and WIFI was connected.(3) WIFI works perfectly. I have even printed from other rooms to this printer.I have not used many of its special features, but the photo's that I've printed out (4X6) on the recommened photo paper come out looking just like I printed them at CVS-Walgreens-Walmart. That is perfect for me and saves me alot of money. The photo paper is really cheap (about $10 for 100 photo's) in comparison to paying someone to print your own pictures at a retail outlet. This is the best printer I've ever owned (and first photo printer). I could not be happier.

I actually purchased an HP printer at Walmart a week before this printer became the gold box deal. Within that ONE week, I was on the phone with Tech support about 12 times. Honestly, I should have known better than to purchase an HP printer. I tried to install it without using their suite of software and it kept getting upset with me. It wouldn't play well with my Apple Airport, and freaked out when I made my wireless connection hidden. When I saw the gold box deal, I packed up the HP, brought it back to Walmart and ordered the Canon from Amazon.I followed the Mac instructions from the lovely commenter who gave step by step directions and it went flawlessy. I didn't even have to un-hide my wireless network! It works perfectly, and I didn't have to install any garbage on my mac. The print quality is great, and I love that the paper tray is hidden, so I can leave paper in it while it's off without it being unable to close.To the commenter who mentioned having to uppercase their network and password, and to anybody else who thinks that's true, keep turning the dial until you get to XYZ and the next letters will be abc lowercase.Love this printer. If you're reading this, do it. Get it. You know you want to.

I'd leave a 5 star review for this printer, were it not for the time consuming wireless setup. For the price, this printer comes with all the basic options an all-in-one wireless printer/copier needs for a home environment. The setup is very easy, until you get to the wireless point. Then you need to make sure you follow EXACTLY the steps provided on this website: [...]. If you strictly follow the steps, you'll be able to connect. Learn from my experience, and save some time...

I bought this to replace an old Epson. I've had the Canon PIXMA MP495 just over three weeks. Wireless setup was very easy. Yes, as others have said, it is noisy with the first page but prints fast and the copies are very good. I am very happy with this purchase.

Great printer so far. I've always been an HP user, so the learning curve was a bit steeper during the setup than it otherwise might have been with another HP--there are more components to put together and the instructions are more pictorial than I'm accustomed to--but all in all, the setup was a breeze. The duplex (two-sided) printing on this thing must be seen to be believed. That feature alone is worth the $100. (Update: I bought this for $98. If it's higher than that, you might want to wait it out and see if it comes back down.)Two downsides are its relatively slow printing (my previous 6-year-old HP Deskjet would crush this in a race, for example) and its relatively big size (fairly short but rather wide and definitely deep; don't get this if you're looking for a printer with a compact footprint), but they're definitely not dealbreakers. I'm personally more concerned with saving paper and being able to print things from another room in my apartment without having to get up and plug in a USB cable every time, so if those things are important to you too, I'm guessing you'll be happy with this.Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to do any scanning, copying, or photo printing, so I can't comment on how well those work--but it's Canon. I'm not expecting to be disappointed.For those with Mac OS X 10.6 (I'm running 10.6.2), installation using the disc was fine, and Software Update prompted me to download updated drivers within a day. I don't anticipate using the bundled software at all, but for ease of installation, it was a small price to pay. My biggest problem with the software now is that it installs a menubar icon for the scanner that doesn't appear to be removable. Kind of annoying. (Update: Search Google for an Apple support thread on removing the menubar icon. It basically just involves removing the offending application from login items and/or killing the process in Activity Monitor. Done.)

I research quite a few multi-functional printer and after reading the Amazon customer reviews for the Canon Pixma MX340, I ordered one. It's a bit larger than my old Lexmark X series but not heavy. The installation instructions were easy to follow especially the wi-fi hook-up. Now I can print docs from another closed room [my two cats love to chew on cords!] I read that some thought the printer was too noisy, well, it does have a permanent noise reduction setting or you can set it to print quietly during certain hours. Even from another room I don't want to hear a printer chugging out copies so I set it on quiet printing. The print quality is crisp and much better than my old Lexmark which printed in color even when you selected b/w copies. The ease of faxing documents is great, too. I'm saving $$$ in time and gas not to mention cost of faxing and printing at Kinko's.I'm impressed with this Canon and for the price, it is a great value. I highly recommend this multi-functional printer for those with home offices, school work, etc. Very efficient,professional quailty print and great fax feature and it's wi-fi. Get one!

My ancient HP G5 All-In-One finally croaked, so I ordered one of these. I didn't really expect it would be any good considering how cheap it is, but I have been pleasantly surprised. The construction is really excellent, and it looks a lot better than most of the flimsy competition I looked at from HP and the rest. There aren't any floppy pieces dangling off it waiting to get broken. I am using it with an iMac 30" running OS X 10.6.3.Setup was fairly straightforward using the wireless connection. The manual takes about 50 pages to get round to telling you that all you need to do is hit the menu button on the printer and find the LAN sub-menu, then choose the network and enter the password. The software for the iMac pretty much installs itself.The included software is good. This is usually a problem with Macs and printers/scanners, but not this time. The scanner will scan straight into Mail, or into your Pictures folder, in jpg, tiff, or pdf. The scans are excellent, much better than the stand-alone HP Scanjet I paid $300 for not so long ago. Print quality is quite good, and reasonably fast, but I really got this for scanning and faxing, with just light duty printing when I don't want to walk over to the laser printer.I am still laughing to myself over the insane value this represents. I honestly can't remember ever getting such a great piece of gear so cheap. It cost more to buy the Airport Express that hooks it to the LAN. I have never posted a review on Amazon before, but this machine is just so great that I had to.

I have had the printer for about a week. Works great so far and folds up nice for travel. Does not come with cord, but any will work (not just 2.0). Easy set up and software has nice features. Great price! It is very loud, but fine.

i loved this printer for the first few months of having it but now every time I want to print something, this message comes up that says "communication error" and to fix it, I have to get up from my desk and go over to my "wireless printer" and turn the printer off, and wait a bit, and turn the printer back on, and then it will print fine. But this is the process EVERY SINGLE TIME I WANT TO PRINT ANYTHING. Seems there is no one to call and nothing on the forums about this and pretty much nothing I can do. I loathe this.

I was nearly discouraged by other reviewers complaining about the complexity of the install. Do yourself a favor: glance through the read-me-first book, BEFORE you install.You have to:1. remove protective plastic wrap/tape2. install 2 ink cartriges3. plug in the printer4. touch the search button on your wifi router5. touch the maintenance button on your printer (so the router finds the printer)6. on each computer that will be printing: insert the CDROM and keep clicking, "I agree," and, "next"7. print a test document and photo and pat yourself on the back for choosing this printerI'm a single mom of 3 who needed an inexpensive solution for teachers requiring printed homework. This printer is a great value, and I'm impressed with the quality of photos, and the speed of printed text.

All-In-One? NO! But there was nothing on the box description that said there was no FAX. I learned this after many frustrating days trying to set this up by myself. Finally had Canon tech guy walk me through it on the phone. Good thing I did this, too, because the manual is about as useless as s***! Actually, the entire not-all-in-one fits that description. By the time I managed to get through this nightmare it was too late to return it to Amazon. Just take all the negative reviews and apply them to mine.

Pros:- Wireless printing and scanning work really well (I don't use the fax feature at all).- Easy setup and install (I work in IT, so it was easy for me).- Several options for configuring WiFi settings (manual or USB key).- Driver/software works fine on both XP and Windows 7.Cons:- Paper tray loads from the back and is vertical; I'd prefer to have it load from the bottom front.- The scanner lid has buttons too close to the front and sometimes I hit a button with my thumb when using the lid.- Takes a up more space than my old HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One.Other info:- I set this up on an Actiontec MI424WR-GEN2 WiFi router that came with my Verizon FiOS service.- Documentation doesn't specify if wireless printing will work across subnet (I don't think it will, but I haven't tested).- See my blog at […] for some info about the networking aspects.

hehehe.......I can't believe anybody has a problem with this great machine.....mine works perfectly...EVERY aspect is perfect!Somebody complained about not being able to repair the printer after styrofoam was dropped in the paper feeder! Sorta reminds me of the timeI dropped a screw down the carburetor of an old Chevy........couldn't get that one out and it didn't work too well after that either! HAHA!GREAT MACHINE......WON'T FIND A BETTER ONE FOR THE PRICE!

Like my title, I think it's great. I needed a wireless printer that I didn't have to have hooked up to my computer. Keep in mind you HAVE to have a wireless internet in your house for it to work -- you can't just have a computer, no internet, and want a printer on the other side of the room. Kind of decieving I guess. So, I am pretty savy but couldn't install this baby without two calls to customer service. Clear an hour of your time, call them, and it will be over. My only issue is that the paper won't catch. I have it in the tray, but when it's ready to print -- everytime -- I need to go up and push it down a bit before it will go. Will I ever call or do anything about that... probably not, I'll live with it. Print's super fast!

I bought this item during a Gold Box Deal sale for a very low price. If that wasn't enough, it shipped the same day and I received it within a day. The printer was packaged very well with no obvious damage or scratches. It was very easy to set up. I was able to follow the instructions and set up the printing wireless (pretty awesome for someone not into reading manuals and following directions since I have the attention span of a ladybug).I'm very happy with this purchase.

I enjoy the camera a great deal and use it almost every other day with my daughter. The image quality in low light in my only gripe and its still nice (I just expected a little different.) This is my first camcorder though and lighting appears to be everything so unless I wanted to shell out a few grand for a camcorder, I feel like this was a great deal and something that will see it's cost returned in a short period with all the memories I'll be saving for my family.

I've used Canon Pixma printers before and have been pleased with the results. They seem to be good workhorse printers.I have to say, this MS420 took a little longer than I hoped to set up. But once I had it running, the photo colors look great on the page, and the printed words are crisp and clean.If you're looking for a Print/Copy/Scan/Fax printer, this is a good one.

There is an unusual noise while scanning and the scanner cover is not sitting flush with the main body.I am an engineer and previously discounted other people's reviews that stated the user manual was written poorly. I have to say they were right. It's ridiculously written where it could have been much simplified.It loads tons of software (like 7 separate programs) which is intrusive. I was not able to change scanner quality settings prior to actually scanning. If there was an option to do so, 30 minutes of searching didn't reveal it. I just wanted to change the brightness and contrast like I was able to on my previous $30 scanner.This is the second Cannon printer I've had and I think I'm done giving them another try.

I've had the MP530 for two years, and I absolutely love it! I am a freelance photographer, so I wanted something that could produce excellent photo prints. I am also a musician, and I print my own promotional materials, which again requires excellent print quality. I also needed at least an average-quality scanner and I have limited space. That's why I went with an all-in-one, but my main concern was photo quality:I can honestly say that the MP530 prints better photos than Wal-Mart! Wal-Mart's photo printers probably cost something like $30,000. The MP530 costs $100-$150, and with high quality photo paper, it does a better job! I only know this because I did a test: I printed six 4x6 photographs on the MP530, and I also ordered prints of the same six shots from Wal-Mart. My personal opinion was that the MP530's shots were better. Then I showed all the prints to my friends and family, and I asked them to pick which ones they thought were better, and also which ones they thought were done by me at home and which were done by Wal-Mart. I referred to each copy as "A" or "B". "A" was the MP530 prints, but I didn't tell anyone that. Non one knew which was which. EVERYONE picked all the "A" copies as the better prints, and EVERYONE thought that the "A" copies were from Wal-Mart! When I told them that they were actually printed at home on the MP530, they were all very surprised. I should mention that I used the Canon Glossy photo paper that came included in the printer box. I should also mention that some of the participants were graphic designers and photographers, and everyone participated separately, not as a group.As far as the scanner goes, I don't use it often, but when I do, I get great results. I'm sure there are other scanners that are better, but I have scanned 4x6 photographs, cropped and resized them to 8x10, then ordered huge prints at 16x20 and I have been very happy with the results.The copier works great, too. Fast, sharp copies with the push of one button. What more could you want?I only used the fax once. The process was easy once I read the manual and set it up properly. I may never need to use the fax again, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it.The ink lasts as long as other printers, if not longer. The ability to change individual colors is supposed to save you money, and I think it does, but not enough to make a huge difference. The ink is expensive, but that goes for all printers, doesn't it? It's worth it, though. Canon says it won't fade for 100 years and I believe them, because my prints have been exposed to sunlight for two years are there is absolutely no sign of fading. I would never use off-brand ink because the color probably won't be accurate, it will probably fade or smear, and it might damage the printer, so what would be the point?In the two years I've owned this printer, it has never taken more than one sheet at time (my HP printer always did that), and I've never had a paper jam, except for once, when I tried to feed a sheet of card stock with two severely damaged corners. But if that sheet only had ONE damaged corner, I'm sure the MP530 could've handled it.If you want a printer that makes absolutely flawless photographs, buy the MP530 and get the scanner, copier and fax as a bonus. I really don't see how any stand-alone photo printer could print any better than this.

Canon all in one printer pixma mx340.this was the easiest setup ive ever had to do. connected the cables, plugged it in turned it on put in cd and followed the instructions and it was all done. i was having a little bit of a problem with the wireless connection but then i realized it wasnt working because forgot to plug in one of the cables. lol. but it worked great with no problems once i plugged it back in. havent tried the fax machine yet but im sure it will be great as well. highly recommend this great product to anyone and everyone who wants a great printer/scanner/copier for home or office. it only goes to 5 stars but i give it 10!

Purchased this box to replace a 5 year old HP last summer. Wanted wireless; didn't need fax. After 7 months still extremely pleased -- wireless set-up through Apple Airport Extreme worked seamlessly with two different Macs driving it -- alternately -- both can even scan (yes, scanning wirelessly). Ink costs are higher than would be desired (but they all are, aren't they?). Amazon's price on the "Large" cartridges is the best I've found. Printing is quite adequate for everyday use -- it isn't up to par for Photo Competitions. Overall, quite pleased; does everything I hoped for.

I've had this printer for 2 months and I do not print very often. When I do, it's a few pages at a time, always black and white, and always fast draft. Despite this, I have had to refill the ink cartridges 3 times. It does not even give you the option to continue printing on low ink. You have two options, "cancel your printing" or "Shop Now" for a new cartridge. I've spent more money on ink for this darn thing than the printer itself. Complete RIP OFF. I would never recommend this product to family or friends.

The Pixma MX882 is easily one of the best printers I have ever owned. I was extremely simple to setup and share on my network. Within minutes of powering it on I had all the PC's and Mac in our home connected, printing, and best of all, scanning. The print quality is excellent and the variety of features is great. I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend this printer.

I purchased this printer so I could have a smaller form factor wireless printer in a more accessible location in my home since my other primary printer that has a wired Ethernet connection is upstairs. I needed a wireless printer since location was important and I did not have an Ethernet connection available in the location. The printer was easy to setup and the wireless connection was made without a hitch right from the printer's front panel. The instruction booklet is much improved from what I've seen from Canon before. It is intuitive and the instructions are divided on each page between connection to a Mac computer and a PC. I installed the drivers and connected the printer to both Mac and PC laptops. This printer is impressive since it packs so much functionality into a small form factor. The print quality is great, but as with any inkjet printer, the print quality is dependent on the paper you use. It's also the quietest printer I've ever had. I have mine in an enclosed wooden cabinet beneath my TV that has solid wood doors. Even with the doors closed it prints without fail from our laptops when used anywhere in the downstairs area of our home via the wireless connection. When I send documents to the printer from a laptop, I sometimes question whether it printed since I do not hear anything. But when I go to the cabinet and open the door, the printed paper is there! Its paper handling functions, such as Duplex printing, are also excellent.So far, I've printed B&W and color documents, numerous photos of various sizes from both our laptops and from memory cards inserted into the printer in its available slots and it has not failed to impress me with the print speed, print quality, and ease of printing. I have an HP LJ 7650 Color All in One printer that's good, but this printer has everything the HP printer has and more, especially when comparing print speed and quiet operation. If you're looking for a good quality wireless printer that sits in an 18" by 18" space, this is the one to get.

It only came with the printer, none of the things you need to operate it. I'm so disappointed in amazon for claiming to be any sort of professional. After discovering the problem suckface amazon tried to pawn the problem off on cannon I'm switching to O.CO! Don't order things from amazon period. If you feel you must don't order things with more than one pieces.

While I cannot remark on image quality and ink usage, I was very impressed with the ease of setup and how quickly I was able to print over my wireless network. I own a Mac and it took me about 15" to run the initial setup and get down to printing. Add to that, that I am able to scan wirelessly, make copies, and that the printer is a fairly attractive piece of equipment, and I am very, very pleased.

I am not sure why this printer is getting so many good reviews. I bought this reading reviews (was planning on buying HP). The main complain I have with this printer is the print speed, noise and over all lack of features. Print quality is good and I have no complains about it. I am a software developer by profession and am very good with computer hardware and overall networking and all. But even for me some of the features of this printer are confusing. They do not follow the logic and is difficult to understand. Also I was amazed that it lacked some of the basic functionality like being able to email scanned copies to your email account, being able to select network folders for scanning. The warm up time for this printer is higher than usual and it makes a lot of noise. Printing speed for this printer is average at best (even for black & white).I would recommend buying HP printers over this one (I do not remember the model no). I think my main issue with this printer is that it sounds and feels like an old ink jack printer even though it looks like a more modern cutting edge printer.

I was very satisfied with this printer. Not knowing very much about printers and computers I was surprised that I needed a router to have a wireless printer,(duh).It was very easy to hook up to my laptop and I am using it this way until I can purchase a router. (I should have known this) It prints very clear and fast. I hope when I hook it up with the router it is as easy and works as well as it does now. I am very satisfied now, especially for the price.

Replacing my Lexmark X75 All-in-one, I bought this for under $100 at amazon, impressed with the features, price and wireless capability. I've had it for about a year now, and it's given me few problems.- SD card, USB slot for inserting flash drive, easy to use LCD-display.- Wireless setup was easy and painless.- Prints beautiful, high quality photos on photo paperOne big con is that it seems to refuse to SCAN if there is no ink, or if ink levels are running low. I found this very odd. Even so, it's not that big of a con because I always purchase refurbished, cheaper ink packs here on amazon instead of purchasing them straight from canon.

I've had so many HP printers over the years and hated them all. All Canon products I've ever owned have been great so this printer caught my eye. I just needed a decent quality printer/scanner to occasionally print photos or contact sheets and my taxes once a year.The software is dull but useable. It works, at least. I'm a Mac user on Snow Leopard and like the other reviewer I went straight to the Web site to download the latest drivers.The small screen interface and controls on the machine are well designed. The memory card slots are great. The pictures come right on the screen; use the scroll wheel to navigate. Select "print" and then the size you want. Feed the paper in the back and a full-bleed beautiful photo pops out 30 seconds later. You could find a lot of people who would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a real photo. Very nice.The iPhone app is awesome. Search for "canon printer"; it shows up right at top. It took seconds to install. The software acts just like the Photos app. It shows your albums, faces, etc. You select the photos and they go into a queue. Go into the queue and select the paper size and print. Works great.This is a nice machine.

I was in the HP funk for a really long time and I decided to leave HP and get with Canon. Everything just works the way it is supposed to, no more going broke on ink. I love it and you can't have mine so go buy your own.

I never usually write reviews but I want to save you from making a horrible mistake. This is the SLOWEST printer I have ever used. After about 3 months(of course),the printer has become plagued with quirks, it doesn't recognize the ink cartridges at times (yes, Canon brand),the wireless connection is inconsistant and must be continuously be reset. The print quality is very anemic. I bought it because the review stated that the print cartridges lasted longer. I not only found that not to be true, but I had to buy new ones because the printer would be particular about which ones it would accept. I really liked the HP printer but did not like the expensive inks. I would have been much better off with an HP.

The printer/scanner was a bit difficult to set up, and get networked to all of our computers. For example, it took a little extra work to be able to scan wirelessly, and installation of the driver on one laptop did not work the first time. We are not sure why we had these problems, but found similar reviews before purchasing the printer. We were able to get evrything working ourselves, and really enjoy the printing/scanning/copying capabilities we have now!

Coming from a printer with 2 ink cartridges I was worried 5 of them would be a hassle, but considering my previous Dell printer lived a long and well used life and then died suddenly, I had to upgrade just as suddenly. No time for a drawn out, head banging on the desk learning curve.Afer a full day of nothing but printer research both online and in the local stores, I decided on this Canon MP560 for a couple of reasons. The other positive reviews, the fact that it IS compatible with Windows 7 (with a download from Canon's website) for my new laptop, and it can go wireless or be used via a USB connection to the desktop computer. (Meaning my husband can print things without a chorus of cursing and hollering that ends up with me doing it for him)The printer arrived today and I had it set up and printing in about 45 minutes. It probably could have been up and going faster than that, but I dropped the USB cord from the old printer behind a dresser and that ate up 10 minutes in retrieval. Note - the Canon does NOT come with it's own USB cable, you must provide your own! Anyway, the color and black & white documents are crisp and clean and the print time is fast enough for home office type requirements. It's very quiet as well which is a definate added plus.****************************One Year Update March 2011******************************************It's been a year since we bought this printer and it's still working great. The WIFI option is easy and makes printing from the laptop on the opposite side of the house a breeze. Took literally less than 3 minutes to activate the WIFI by the way. One thing I do love about this printer compared to our previous brands is that I am using less ink. Not sure why this is - we're not printing less than before, at least not that I have noticed. Just ordering less ink overall.

This printer works wirelessly after a simple set-up by following the on-screen instructions. The printer is simple, elegant in design, and isn't "too big." The printer found my network easily, and I am currently enjoying WiFi printing.

This Printer is perfect. My needs are pretty simple. I only use it to print documents and scan things. Install was pretty simple. When I got it I was expecting to have a problem installing the wireless based on other reviews but I ended up having no problems. You do have to plug in the USB cable during the initial install. But it says so during the process. It just says use your wireless cable and I think thats what is confusing people. Anywhoo, I don't know how it does on Pics just cause I use [...] for all of my picture printing, calendar, cards and storybooking needs. That way I don't have to spend a million dollars a month on printer ink ;).

I love this printer. When the printer arrived, I thought it was too big, but now I think is perfect for the quality of the printer and all the functions. I did have a hard time installing this printer wireless to my desktop computer but I was able to install it on our laptop wireless without problems and it works great. The printer is Wonderful considering the low price, I am very pleased.
