So far, I am in total hate with this printer, but perhaps there is still a silver lining down the road and I am just not used to the way Canon does things, compared to other printers I have had in the past most of them by Epson. Everything seems so cumbersome and hard with it and I have called Canon several times until I am sure they must have me listed as a nuissance customer by now. I couldn't even find the serial number on the bottom. There were numbers, but you couldn't tell which one would be the serial. They politely informed me it was inside the printer because they don't like us turning the print head upside down. Good idea> Wish I had known>>> I turned the printer upside down several times instead of just once because of this.But the worst thing with this printer is going through a program they have created for printing with their printer. This has everything so long and drawn out (just like their manual) and is so over simplified and automated you have no idea what it is doing or what is going on or where all these files are going to or what adjustment the program is automatically doing to your image. I like to be able to DO MY GRAPHICS AND THEN JUST PRINT. Period. Printing form Photoshop is not supported by them, but they say they are sure that a call to ADOBE will give me settings that will make printing from Photoshop a reality. Same with scanning - I did not now that I ahd to download a TWAIN driver to be bale to scan from my ADOBE software.It is possible that the print quality is good.....but I am frustrated with the overall process and all the gobble-d-goop .... At very least, they need a simple, QUICK START-start-up manual.I just wanted to be able to scan and print....... :-(

Великолепно

Printer was easy to set up and does a very good job. I have only printed 8x10's so far and color is excellent. I have not used the 13x19 print yet....but have no doubt it will do just as well. I also have the MG 5220 and it does a great job also.

OH YES, THIS PRINTER PRINTS BEAUTIFULLY IN FULL COLOR... ONLY PROBLEM IS I HAVE HARDLY USED IT FOR THREE MONTHS (VERY SPARINGLY) LESS THAT 70 COPIES OF ANYTHING, MOSTLY BLACK AND WHITE... AND HAVE SPENT OVER $90 DOLLARS ON PRINT CARTRIDGES... NO KIDDING.I PRINTED SIX HALF PAGE PHOTO CHRISTMAS CARDS AND WAS HORRIFIED TO FIND I WAS ON 'LIGHT BLINKING' EMPTY. HAD TO TAKE A TRIP TO SANTA FE... ONE HOUR EACH WAY BEFORE I COULD EVEN PRINT MY FLIGHT ITINERARY. TWICE THE CARTRIDGES I PURCHASED REGISTERED ONLY HALF FULL THOUGH WAS ABLE TO GET A FREE REPLACEMENT (ANOTHER TRIP TO TOWN) AFTER BEATNG MY CHEST AND MAKING LOUD NOISES. BUT NOW LESS THAT THREE DAYS LATER COLOR (RED & YELLOW) DROPPED FROM FULL TO BLINK... ALMOST MAGICALLY..IN MINUTES.I BOUGHT THIS MODEL BECAUSE SALES REP SAID IT HAD A BLACK & WHITE BUTTON WHICH WILL SPARE COLOR PRINTING (PURCHASED THREE REPLACEMENTS TO DATE)... BUT ONLY WORKS IN COPY MODE NOT OFF OF PC FROM WHERE I DO MOST OF MY PRINTING (read: Southwest Airlines' e-ticket & hotel reservations must be printed with full color logo / photos and adverts every time). THIS PRINTER WAS DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE PRINTING FEES AND BOOST CANON'S BOTTOM LINE... THE CANNON MX 882 IS A PIECE OF S#*@ (FILL IN THE BLANK). NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A CANNON ANYTHING.

I am pretty disappointed with this printer. While it does have plenty of bells and whistles on it, the machine does not meet my expectations for the simple function that I use it for most often: printing on envelopes.It leaves smudges (sometimes to the point where I can't even read the return address) and the overall performance leaves much to be desired. e.g. - From the moment I hit "PRINT" on my computer, it seems to take about 45 seconds for the first printed page to actually come out the other end. As another reviewer put it, it's as if the printer has to go into labor pains and contractions before giving birth to a single page of paper.With thousands of other options available in the printer market, would I buy this machine again? No.This thing frankly makes me long for my old HP 2110 that I bought over ten years ago. For the life of me, I don't know WHY it's so difficult for a company to manufacture a basic printer that does it's job without any trouble or annoyances. Very frustrating.

the software application is very easy and get you to do what u want with one clickthe set up is easy and I like that the WiFi connection is fast as wellI bought one like 2 years ago and this is my second time that I buy this specific model because I relocate ... my friend still using the old one so I know it last for yearsthe scanner application is very good as well, it deserve five stars

After about a year my MP560 gave an error message that says B200, call service center. I googled the problem and you can see for yourself that it's quite common. I tried a few of the solutions, and nothing. Nice printer when it works, but mine doesn't anymore. Frustrating. Who has the time to deal with things like this or even where to begin?

I bought this printer after reading reviews here on Amazon and a few other places and was expecting great things, especially from a Canon product. Set up was easy.However, this printer is LOUD. If you have a baby sleeping in the next room or are trying to be quiet, everyone will soon be awake. If I were going to be using this printer merely for its document printing and scanning properties, it would be fine (although not worth $108, maybe $50).After trying to print several 4x6" photos, the printer decided for me that it would be going back. Pictures are washed out and fuzzy, regardless of the alleged 4800dpi photo printing capability. To give you an example of the picture source, all pictures that were printed were taken with a Nikon D5000 DSLR.If you want your pictures to look good, go with the HP Photosmart series or like I did with an Epson Artisan series printer that printed the same pictures in high resolution with vivid colors.

Pros: full of features, compact size, great priceCons: short life, interface could be betterAfter just over a year, of very light use, today marks the end of our PIXMA. It is fatally flawed in that the ADF sensor or gear is malfunctioning so that it is constantly reading there is a page in the adf, when there is not. A quick internet search shows that this seems to be common of PIXMAS with these ADFs. (search "pixma document in adf") I find it slightly ironic that a feature I have never used has rendered the printer inoperable.At this point I'm better off buying something new for the money it would cost to repair. For the very reasonable initial purchase price I'm not too bitter it died in in such a short time. In all honesty though, I've had little USB ink jet printers print hundreds of more pages than what I got here, and they were about half the price. It will now be a hassle to dispose of and replace. I think the PIXMA could be a poster child example of "e-waste".When alive printing is pretty quick and of decent quality. Scanning is very slow, but does the job. I also appreciate it not being as monstrous as some of the other full feature printer/scanner/fax systems out there. If you have one, or can find one for a good deal, just understand you are buying a lot of features, that will only last so long. consider it a "temporary" printer. The interface is also purely utilitarian. It gets the job done but is not "easy" by any stretch of the imagination. It also comes with horrible setup instructions. If you are somewhat computer literate you will do fine though.Bottom line is you will get your moneys worth, but only just, and you aren't spending that much to begin with. Nothing to really rave about here. I suggest buying something else.

This printer prints, scans, and faxes fine, impressive feature set for the money. I haven't printed photos, just text documents, for which the quality is satisfactory (haven't tried to measure it). The user interface is awkward and unintuitive but possible to master with some patience - this product was clearly not designed by Apple. Canon ink is expensive, presumably they are making money on the ink not the printer, but it's easy to get third-party cartridges from eBay. There may be some risk over time of damaging the printer, but the ink price difference is so dramatic that it's a good bet just to use third-party ink and replace the printer if it ever fails. Overall I'm happy with this printer and would buy it again.

Good quality printer for documents as well as photos. One of the cons is that it shakes while printing. Also, if you the printer has been sitting unused for a day or so, it must go into some type of hibernation mode because it takes (FOREVER) almost 2 minutes to start physically printing from the moment you click print.

I bought this printer on sale at a local department store that was going out of business. Fifty percent off! From $100 to $50!I was ripped off.This printer drinks ink, it has SERIOUS issues using paper that isn't standard note paper, and is incredibly loud.The software it comes with is ridiculous.You could easily do better than this crappy printer and it's crappy bloatware.

This was the most unreliable piece of equipment I've ever owned. Nearly every time I wanted to print, I would have to use systems preferences to delete the printer and then add it back. The scanner would work over the wireless one day and not the next. Finally I get nothing but an error 5200 message, which apparently translates to "your printer is dead." Canon tech support cheerfully explained how to troubleshoot error 5200 by trying to enroll me in the "Canon Loyalty Program" wherein I fix the problem by buying a new printer. No thanks. Taking this to the e-waste after about a year. lovely.

I have had different HP printers for the last 15 years and have been okay with most, but this printer is by far better than any of them. The software is also great and a lot more user friendly than HP's. Printer is quiet (compared to my others), fast, and great quality. Setup takes a while, but is not hard, just time consuming. The look is sleek and modern. The one downfall is that the paper curves in the paper tray if you don't remove it when you're done. With this curving the paper cannot pass through the printer without jamming. Therefore when you are done using the printer, take the paper out and lay it on top of the printer for the next use instead of leaving it in the tray.

This printer isn't a bad choice and does what I need it to: Print, scan, and copy. It does have the other nice features such as wireless connection through wifi, detailed photo prints, and etc, but I don't really use them although it is nice to have that option available.One of the important feature you can appreciate from this printer is the quiet mode. When it prints or scan, the noise is significantly reduce while there's still some noise being produced, it's not enough to wake people up in the middle of the night so that's good. The design of this printer is also nice. The interface of the printer software is also refined and very easy to use without overwhelming the normal everyday user. Buy it!

This printer is excellent and only $33 and comes with full size ink trays? under 5 stars I don't know if serious? It's built well and prints pictures comparable to my stepmothers $130 HP printer. This unit isn't an all-in-one model, it's just a simple basic printer. All I need is a basic printer that is dependable and I didn't want to spend much. For $33 some People aren't happy with this model? I don't know if serious? or just flat out nuts?Highlights...* Prints quickly* Quite mode is very quite* Comes with full ink trays* Ink tray last a long time before replacement needed with heavy black and white prints (text)* Well made unit* Easy to setup* Easy to use and figure out settings and such* Love the basic black lookCons...* you can't print 200,000 color pictures and expect it not to run out of ink* It's a $33 printer it cannot solve world hunger* It's a $33 printer it might not be as good as a $130 printer (aww)* It doesn't have some features that a $100 + printer has* It doesn't come with free paper and a secretary in a tight squirt* It cannot hold up to printing 1000 copy's in an business office* It's not as good as those $2000 Xerox machines in Bank of America* People have the expectations of a expensive premium printer inside of this $33 deal (Strange)All and all at the end of the day this printer does what you want it to. it prints.

I've had this printer for about 6 months, and I have come to hate it.It's slow - "Please wait a while" -- nice...The ink is expensive and doesn't last all that long.It is NOT Airplay compatible -- there is an iPhone/iPad app, but it only lets you print photos.Did I mention how effing slow it is? I miss my old Canon printer.

This is unit that has been reviewed to death. It is worth noting that you will pay a little over $55 each time you replace the ink - think about that, its 1/3 the cost of the printer. You can buy 'cloned' ink, but they have mixed results and are somewhat of a gamble to use.The lamp is conventional and not a quick start. Expect to wait up to a minute before you can scan or copy an item.On the Mac the supplied software is acceptable, but not great. It looks like a poor port of a windows version.The interface is clunky, unintuitive, and uninspiring. Changing settings is cumbersome.

bought this and just used the black cartridge for emails. less than a year old, and paper will not feed. Glad I didn't spend anymore money to buy new printer ink cartridges....disposable. buy only if the price is very, very, low.

I researched this printer against higher priced HP printers at Costco. This printer had better ratings so I bought it. The first thing I noticed was the installation compared to my old wireless HP 6980 (which it replaced) was awesome. 3 Laptops wirelessly connected and a desktop usb connection all within 30 minutes. Just connect it to your wireless SSID with the password, put in the disk load the software and it works for XP, Vista and Win 7 (comes with a MAC disk but I am too poor to afford one of those) the disk software will find the printer for you and connect it laptop or whatever. Do try to do it in windows by adding a printer and browsing the network or by going to your router to add it, none of that is needed, in fact it probably won't work if you try to do it that way which I did by habit. I printed out test pages from each and the print quality was great. I don't plan on using this for photos, that's what costco online is for at 9cents a 6x9 who would be foolish enough to do prints on a Inkjet anyway? This mainly going to used for letters, printing from the internet, scanning and copying.Also the ink cartridges cost considerably less than my HP ones that are $72 bucks for a combo pack. HP is going to goodwill. Also you can load the entire installation CD on a thumbdrive or hard drive and keep it there so you don't have to hunt around for a CD or you can load multiple systems at the same time. I would give it 5 stars but it is a bit loud, no reason not to buy. I would recommend the printer to a friend.

Bought this to replace an earlier Canon all-in-one printer that finally failed after quite a few years of use. Very happy with the 882 after two months of use: setup was straightforward (although it required a call to Canon's tech support in order to get my wife's Mac to recognize the printer), the wireless connectivity is very convenient since we have several laptops in the house, photo printing quality is quite good on glossy paper (although not as good as a high-end photo printer), and the speed is an improvement over our earlier all-in-one (warm-up is pretty slow, however, if the printer has been turned off). If you connect your phone line to the printer and then connect a telephone with answering machine to the printer's "line out" jack, the printer will automatically detect an incoming fax tone as soon as your machine answers the phone and will receive the fax. Because of this we now have the all-in-one connected to our single land-line phone line and have disconnected the line that used to be dedicated to our fax, a considerable savings.

The last Pixma I had was great until Canon decided to stop writing drivers for the new operating systems. Mechanically it was fine, but I could not use it any more. I bought the MX882 because I like the sheet feeder, but I am disappointed in it almost daily. When you wake it up to print even one page, it keeps you waiting 5 minutes while it cleans itself. Why can't it clean itself AFTER printing the page. Half the time it tells me there is no paper when the tray is full, and it add insult to injury with the message on the screen, "Please wait a while." I won't buy another Canon printer, because the way this one is programmed it has the wrong priorities; a printer should produce output as a priority and not perform maintenance first when you ask it to print something. At least it was fairly cheap.

Here are some of the myriad ways in which this device barely qualifies as a printer:- It is WiFi enabled, sure. Except that, after 20 minutes the printer will go to sleep and will not respond to wifi printing commands. The only recourse appears to be to turn it off and turn it on again. It has no wake on LAN capabilities. If I wanted a printer I had to connect to the network, I wouldn't have purchased a WiFi printer.- The paper loading tray failed to load paper most of the time. I was always fussing with the back of the machine trying to get it to load blank paper upon which to print.- The scanning software is heinous. It had trouble scanning to the computer. It only seemed willing to scan things so it could print them out.

I'm a technical support person by trade and it's very rare that I have glowing words of praise for any software or hardware.I have a four-year-old Canon MX700 on my office network and it has never given me the first bit of trouble. It's continued connectivity and trouble-free performance has survived network system failures, power failures, and client computer operating system upgrades.This is why I have selected this MX882 for a customer to replace a extremely problematic Kodak AIO: this MX882 is built on the same fundamentals as my trusty MX700. It also has a wired Ethernet connection which is getting to be a rare find these days on lower-end AIOs. As wireless printing can be unstable and problematic, I only specify printers that have Ethernet connections.Since the included CD-ROM never has up-to-date drivers and software, I went to Canon's site to download all of the drivers and software components that I needed.One client computer was a Win 7 64-bit system, and the other a Vista 32-bit system. Fortunately, the drivers and software for each turned out to be universal so that I didn't have to download twice - thank you Canon!The result: It installed on my client's wired Ethernet network without issues, and the drivers and printer software installed without issues. Everything worked the first time, no issues, nada! So far, my customer loves it!I'm going to keep recommending Canons as long as this keeps up.

The advertising picture and the skittish 4 star rating surely persuaded me this would be a good color printer, as I am sure it did many. WRONG. I do not understand why this product is getting alot of 5 star reviews, sure the price is good but you might as well save up for a better printer. The pictures come out horrible (I mean that word) and the "vivid colors" option just makes it even worst. The only picture that came out fine was the first one, mind you. The rest were all junk, I would include the scummy pictures but I threw them away as I was disgusted.Two stars I give, one because it prints and the other because it prints colors - but not good colors. Guess it will atleast do the job for college. Oh might I say it ran out of ink fairly quick as well.Also, don't heed the "silent" reviews, it can get quite noisy.My 2 cents.

This printer is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH INTERNET EXPLORER 9! also, when you scan something it makes it a pdf file in adobe, which can't be saved into a word document without paying adobe a monthly subcription to covert the files. When I called the help number they told me to go into the start menu and then click all programs the click on the mp navigator to change the fild type to a jpg. And that I would have to do this everytime. So I can technically make the function work, but it's a pain, the 'one click' option didn't do anything either. The printer itself is huge, you need to have a shelf at least 15in X 15in. I had a canon pixma printer/copy/scaner before but had no problem with my old ones compatability or scanning problems, I only got this new one because I needed the fax feature for my business. I read all the good reviews before I picked this one and can't believe no one mentioned all these flaws.

After enjoying an Epson Stylus 2200 for many years of great service, it finally bit the dust. So, I began researching for my next wide-format printer. Although this one is a sleeper and not highly publicized, I am really impressed with this printer. It is simple and easy to set up and operate and, it produces flawless beautiful photos with no metamerism like I experienced with the old Epson 2200. This one doesn't have any fancy bells and whistles, but, it just works and, it works well. The only thing I don't care for is the printing software that comes with it because, it takes forever to do its thing; "s-l-o-w" doesn't begin to describe the Easy Print software. It eventually works and, works well, but someone needs to fix that software to speed it up. I love that when you print a document using Word, it prints the last page first so that the document stacks itself in order and is ready to go when the print job is finished. Also, the text is just as clear as any laser printer. Another huge plus I like is, this printer, so far, does not seem to be an ink hog. And, the multi-packs of ink for this printer are very reasonably priced. I've printed several letter size photos, some 4X6 snapshots, and some gorgeous 13X19 photos -- the ink levels are still near the top! As is always the case, the cyan and magenta levels come down first but, surprisingly, they are only down a bit, the yellow and blacks are still at the top. Another thing I like is the printer shuts itself off after its been idle for awhile, that's an energy saving plus that I really appreciate. For all around everyday printing, along with art gallery quality photo printing, this was the perfect printer for me. I am favorably impressed and very satisfied with this purchase.

After reading numerous reviews, I decided to go with this product. So far, so good for minimal printing and scanning. Like others, I have not been able to get the Wi-Fi function to work but have not had any inconvienence using the USB cord for connection. BTW I did purchase in store for a lower price than advertised here...plus no additional shipping charges but I still LOVE Amazon!I also purchased the combo ink pack from Amazon (blck,color, paper) at a great value and super fast delivery.I would recommend this printer if you are not doing hight volume printing/ scanning.

I bought this for about $40, so I got what I paid for. I was hoping for a printer that didn't require that I bought ink for it all the time, and unfortunately that is what I got. Even with the larger capacity Canon ink cartridges and even though I don't use it a ton, I feel like I am buying ink all the time.This is frustrating, expensive and cannot be good for the environment.Then when you run out of ink, you can't use it for anything. It will not print just black and white if the color ink has run out and vice versa, nor will it scan. So until I feed it ink, it's just a large paper weight.Other wise, it actually works well. Print quality is good and scanning is good. Software could be better, but it works (when there is ink!)*sigh* I miss my HP printer.

This is an amazing product. It looks like I just spent $500+ on it! It is sleek, attractive, high tech, a symphony of piano black and blue LED. When it operates it is smooth and straightforward. In short, I love this printer.I only got it today, but it looks stunning. The documents I have printed look excellent. The scans I have done are very good. The WiFi connectivity is flawless. Honestly, it has been a while since I purchased a printer, but this delivers big time for small $$$.On the down side, the instruction manual makes the set up process seem like a highly complex procedure, which it really isn't. It's probably not the fastest printer out there. And I'm not convinced that the cartridges are the easiest to install. Oh and the 50 sheet cartridge is BS, there should be space for a ream in a printer of this size.On the up side, the printer is big but awesome looking. If you like stylish high tech, this is for you. In printing, the white and black is crisp and sharp. Color images look good, and I have not even tried the fancy photo paper yet. Once you go through the unnecessarily complicated set up, the printer is very intuitive. Easy to use.The WiFi is awesome. This printer has never been physically connected to a computer since I owned it, and already I've printed documents over wireless and even photos via my Android phone. I love that.If I had any criticism of the product it would really not be relevant to this review. This is an exceptionally cheap printer that does fax, scan, copy, print and more for an incredibly low price tag. Frankly if this is not enough for you, you probably should be spending double or more.

Advertising something as wireless implies that wireless ACTUALLY WORKS for more than a day. That is not the case with this printer. I can't tell you how many times I've set up, and resetup, and reconfigured the wireless on this POS only to have it quit working as soon as I restart either the computer it was originally setup on or the printer itself. USB works fine. However, I got this thing specifically because it said "wireless" on the box. Even the horrible, ink wasting lexmark that I replaced with this, as bad as it was, still managed to keep the wireless going for a while before screwing up.Not only that, but it's only the printer function that doesn't run on wifi. The scanner works fine. Yet when I try to print it tells me the thing is offline.How hard is it, Canon, to make a printer that connects over wifi? I have 5 other devices on my desk right now that pop on and off wifi 20-30 times per day without even a hiccup, yet this printer, that just sits there, can't manage to just stay connected to one network.Unless you have a big chunk of space within 3 feet of your computer in which to put this thing, don't buy it.

Bought product in January 2012. Now May 2012.I really like the versitility of the MX882 wireless, great quality color. Up until now, I have been a devoted fan of Canon. Have had couple of Canon Printers over the years. Liked them all (eg. MP830, ip4500). Quality and duplexing was great. All were reliable, except the MX882.Problems: Major - Duplex printer (2nd page on back) has been unreliable. Now works for couple of pages, then jams. Alignment is now "off" with printing fuzzy. Tried to auto align, but grinding sound occurs and get 5100 error. Frequent 5100 errors. Minor - Paper stack at back sorta wiggles where paper feed interfaces with printer.Mine's a lemon. Recommend extended warranty.

So I jumped on the iPAD 2 bandwagon and Santa was very generous. Discovered word processing apps for the iPad and wanted a compatible printer. Did an AMAZON search for an AirPrint printer that would work with my iPad. This printer was was the top search result. Attributes were perfect ... price was right. I pressed ADD TO CART; made my purchase, believing I coud trust AMAZON listing.Now, I have my printer. By the way, the printer is excellent easy to install, eliminates unnecesary wire. Connects well over home WiFi ... BUT .... BUT ... I can't connect to the iPad. Turns out this is NOT ... NOT an AirPrint compatible printer.So much for AMAZON's listing accuracy. I'm keeping the printer because it meets other needs, BUT can't help feeling scammed, Mr Bezos. If I want to meet my original intention - connect with the iPad - I now have to purchase another printer. The experience is incredibly annoying. If I were more cynical, I woud believe that this is some evil business plan, Mr. Bezos, to get people to spend more than they intended on the AMAZON site. I don't know how to complete this rating It ought to be PRINTER 5 stars AMAZON -1.

This product has great ratings on the internet. It is terrible if you own a Mac. I have a 2-year old MacBook Pro. It refuses to connect to it. Further, it is really complicated to use. If you put in a USB drive to scan an image, it is confused. If you connect it to your computer (PC or Mac), it may or may not work. I rarely review anything I buy on Amazon, but this has caused me so many problems over the past 5 months b/c I didn't know that Canon doesn't generally work well with Apple I wanted to be sure to share.

This printer makes gorgeous home prints and works well although I find the scan function a little funky with my MAC. That's probably more my limited IT skills than the printers fault. The big bug-a-boo is the cost of ink. The colors run out like lightning and I print mostly black. I just sent for generic ink. i hope that it works. For a home printer, the cost of ink is about $300 a year. Ludicrous.

the reviews on here are probably from people who like to pay hundreds of dollars for ink and then have no problem with a broken printer (or the Canon PR people- they seem to have high ratings on their site too). just google all the issues with this thing, if the ink is low it wont print, copy, or scan. Then, when you try all the troubleshooting techniques, Canon basically acknowledges their design flaws. Seriously, I've never been so upset with a product before. Unless all 5 of your ink cartridges are full, it WILL NOT PRINT, SCAN, FAX, or COPY. If you are low on ink, tough luck. I have a giant paper weight, and I'm not too enthusiastic about the irony in that.

I've only used this thing for a few days; Amazon probably won't send me any more free stuff unless I review what I already have, so, here's my review thus far:The good:1) This printer comes with a USB cable. I hate printers that don't come with a USB cable. Sure, this one is supposed to allow wireless printing; does anyone bother attempting to set this up? Seems like a pain in the neck to me. My time is worth money.2) This printer prints quickly, without too much noise and fuss, and the color print quality is high. I don't print photographs, though it does have the capability and came with some photo stock. I don't really care about this feature, and wouldn't know what to compare it to if I did.3) The black ink cartridge is refillable.4) The scan and copy qualities are excellent: much better than my old inkjet scanner.5) There is a useful "copy" button which does the copy in B/W, and another one for color copies. This is a very useful feature.The bad:1) This printer is too large. I had a color inkjet with scanner on my desk already (an HP PSC 1400). This one is about time and a half larger, and has no extra capabilities. Sure, it works a little faster/better than my HP, but it's also much bigger, which is quite annoying, as I live in a small space.2) While I haven't printed enough to run out of ink yet, I will relatively quickly. Not only is the inkjet cartridge too small (as are all of them, of course), they have the nerve to sell you one which they filled up to the brim with ink ... for a lot more money. I know these guys have a "razor blade" business model with these things, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.The ugly:1) Why did they put the power cable and the USB port on opposite sides of the machine? This is just retarded, and makes for snaking cables all over the place. Everyone else puts them on the same side, where they belong. it's not like they didn't have plenty of room to put them wherever they liked.2) The software is the usual thing for a low end printer: low end. It does work without a hitch on OS-X though. Missing things: knowing what the ink level is looking at the driver state in "System preferences."Otherwise, let's face it; these things are more or less commodities these days. Buy the cheap inkjet with the refillable cartridges; that's about the only way to distinguish between them. I'll add more comments later if I notice something under sustained use, but I'd say, over all, this is a pretty typical color inkjet printer.You know what I'd really like? A BW inkjet printer, with an explicitly refillable cartridge. I don't give a damn about color prints, and most other people don't either. This printer should have the capability: it can do this with its copying functionality. If it can be configured to work this way with the print capabilities, I don't know how to do it.

So far I am very impressed with this printer. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks. Photo quality is very good. I was using the Glossy photo paper sample that came with the printer, and it was comparable to prints I've gotten at my local one-hour shop. Scanned images are very clear as well. OCR function is good, much better than other scanners I've used (previously used an older hp model). It prints fairly quickly and I didn't have any problems with paper jams. One downside is it doesn't hold as much paper as other models, so it needs to be refilled more often.Ease of setup: Fairly intuitive, yet I did use the Getting Started manual because although I've set up many printers, this was my first time setting one up on a network. There was also a lot of packaging, and I would have missed some of it if I hadn't read the manual. Said manual was clear and easy to understand, and I couldn't find any inconsistencies in the setup (I used the Windows instructions, so I can't speak for Mac instructions).One thing to remember - this is touted as a wireless printer, although it can also be connected to a computer by USB or wired to the router with an Ethernet connection. You will need to provide your own USB or Ethernet cable, those do not come with the printer.I have a love/hate (mostly hate) relationship with wireless, mostly due to my older model computer. I had no problem getting the computer and printer to "communicate" wirelessly, so I was quite happy, and surprised. I expected more issues.I also used the wired connection to the router. It was all quite seamless on my end. I followed the instructions and it worked the first time.The printer is quite large, so be aware if you have already cramped quarters.Altogether, this is a very good printer. My only complaints would be the large size and that it needs to be refilled more often. Recommended for those who are printing their own photos or need a good quality scanner.

I've quit trying to figure out how this stuff works. But the fact it does work is amazing. I've been wanting to get rid of the printer wires for awhile, especially since most of my time is spent on a laptop and not the desktop in my office.It wasn't quite what I expected. I really wanted a printer that would work with an IPAD and Thrive. But after I got over the fact that these technologies just aren't developed enough and focused on the laptops and my desktop, I was thrilled. It was actually very easy to set up with my Verizon FIOS network and has had no problems since.No more sending emails to myself or transferring files to thumb drives for printing.The printer is fast and the multiple sheet feeder and scanner has worked without a hitch. The best thing about it, especially since it has a fairly large footprint, is I can sit it in my office closet with the wireless technology. That freed up a lot of desk space and essentially keeps it out of the way when not in use.A good solid choice for medium use.

MP560 is not compatible with Mac OS X, Mountain Lion. Canon indicates a solution sometime in the 4Q 2012, 6 months after OS X release. This is not an Apple friendly product strategy for the product line nor for the Company. I would suggest any Apple users to seek other than Canon products, which has proven unreliable in supporting interoperability with Apple.

Please, don't waste your money on this. First, what they don't tell you is that it is only compatible with certain computers. I got it working on one of my other computers and now it tells me there is no paper in it at all times, even when it's full of paper. This was a waste of money and very frustrating, please don't bother with this crappy printer.

This is a great printer - except for the duplex printing. Software installs easily, though it takes a while. Print quality is great, as is the scanner. Scanning software is fair, has lots of options, but the auto scan function, which usually produces the best results, won't let you adjust the scan margins. I've never had a scanner that auto-detected the paper margins correctly, so I won't ding the Canon on that issue, but the inability to adjust the margins on the auto-scan is ridiculous, forcing you into the very capable, but ultimately more time consuming, manual scan process for just about every scan from the glass. ADF scans of 8.5 x 11 sheets work fine.However, the biggest failure of this printer is the duplex printing. The printing is automatically lightened - printed with less ink - and the results are unacceptable where a quality print is needed. This is not adjustable. Canon tech support says this is done to protect the internal rollers of the printer from picking up ink and depositing it on the next sheet. Why couldn't they just adjust the dry time? This hasn't been an issue on any other inkjet printer I've had. Manual duplexing doesn't work - page 2 doesn't wind up on the back of page 1 if more than two sheets are needed. Canon's answer was to print even and then odd pages, but of course this won't work either if you need multiple copies and the document contains an odd number of pages. In other words, duplexing is a FAIL on this printer.

I bought this because HP wouldn't provide a Windows 7 driver for my scanner. I'm giving away my Canon Pixma 3000 which I've had for years without a problem. The unit comes with a couple of very nice and formerly expensive features like document feeder with two-sided scanning and printing plus a gray ink color for superior gray scale prints. Scanning a photograph and printing it on glossy paper resulted in a copy that looked exactly like the original. It is the best printer I ever had. I use it for a home office with emphasis on the 'home' part. Be advised, this is not the fastest printer in the world. For those of you who may have seen a Honeymooners rerun now and again, the unit seems to fuss like Norton signing a document once in a while before getting down to the business of scanning and/or printing. If you desire rapid output, this printer may be frustrating to you. For me, it is a really great all-in-one printer at a price point I see as making it a great value. You could spend as much just on the scanner, let alone a full service all-in-one with document feeder providing two-sided automated scanning and printing. It is easy to set up on the network. I haven't needed the 'stand alone' features of printing directly from camera SD cards, but its there if you want it. One nifty feature I liked but thought was stupid, at first, is that the printer will automatically open its output tray when it is ready to print. Great Printer - Great Scanner - Great Price.
