It's a good value, and extremely portable. However, it takes forever to take pictures using a flash. I have used much better digital cameras where as soon as you press the button, the camera will initiate the picture taking. There is no way to check the status of your battery life, a warning light comes on shortly before the battery dies. Picture quality is good when using highest quality settings, I've printed many pictures and they all turn out great. But beware, this camera is horrible for taking pictures up close, and the zoom is quite lacking. The menu is also not user friendly and the controls can be quite confusing. It's a great, portable camera, but if you want a lot of features, this is not it.

I bought the Canon S500 to replace an Epson Stylus Color 740 which died on me.In comparison to the Epson 740, the Canon is a superior product in most ways. First, the black and white output quality is laser printer good without any smudging of text. Next, the ink tanks are...individually replaceable. And so far, they seem to be lasting longer than the Epson tanks, which went pretty fast. The Canon's self-cleaning process does not take as long and is less frequent than the Epson, which can make you wait for a couple of minutes. Third, the Canon printer can turn on and off automatically, so I never have to press its power button! This is disabled by default, but I find it so convenient! Finally, this printer is fast! B&W output is slightly slower than the Epson but still very fast, and in color output, this speeds way past the Epson. You almost never have to wait for any printout.The only area where the Epson exceeded the Canon is in photo-quality color output. The Epson has a slightly more natural color balance, and looks absolutely gorgeous on photo paper. The Canon is merely good.All in all, a terrific home printer unless you plan to print a lot of digital photos. Plus it has Mac OS X drivers!

For years I balked at getting an inkjet printer, and used my trusty HP Laserjet. However, as I made the transition to Windows XP and a new Gateway 700XL, I found myself without the ability to print photos; Sony had chosen not to release XP drivers for their DP-10 photo printer.So I finally broke down and bought a Canon i850 P>Setup was a breeze. Canon has easy to read instructions (that actually make sense and work as written).B&W printing is faster on this printer than my laser. Photo printing is awesome. I only wish Canon et. al. would go the extra mile and include the cable, in this case, a USB 2.0 Hi-speed. I almost walked out of the store without one.I'll keep the Laserjet for volume B&W printing, but the Canon i850 has been designated as the default printer on my machine.

Just bought it. It was a breeze to install. Prints great 8x10 photos on matte paper. Normal text printing is quite fast as well. Recommend for home use. Remember to set the paper type before you print photos, otherwise you get messed up photos. Definately better than the HP Photosmart 100 that I bought last year. Printer technology is improving dramatically. Good ink system, that will hopefully save me some money. With HP, U have to junk the entire cartridge, even if a single color is out. Canon has 4 ink system with visual indicators. so you buy just the one you need. Plus Canon ink cartrdiges are cheaper than HPs. This one does not have a memory stick interface, so you will need a computer to print. With my 5 mb Sony digital camera, and this printer, I hardly use my 35 mm SLR camera anymore.

I've had the S520 for a couple of months now and I must say this by far has been the best printer I've ever owned. It prints excellent 4x6 photos taken with my digital camera with almost the same accuracy as regular 35mm photos that you would get from Kodak. I mean, no one could tell the difference between the photos I printed out on this machine and the photos that are developed at a photolab. Canon says to use the Canon Photo Pro paper to achieve great results, however, I've used Hewlett Packard 4x6 photo paper and color photos and non color photos have come out very nicely. It also prints text well. Most importantly, the S520 is very easy on the ink. This was the major problem I had with my previous Epson Stylus C60. Since I've had this printer, I've not had to change the the cartridges yet! And I've had this printer for 4 months. I know that's not a long time but when I had the Epson C60, I had it for about the same amount of time and had to replace the cartridges 3 times.All and all, this is an excellent printer. Reasonably priced and cost efficient.Get this one!

... I was very disappointed with the results. I ended up returning the printer after messing with is a week or so to see if I couldn't get my pictures to look better. The quality was terrible. The color wasn't very vivid and you could see the pixels (very grainy). I messed with the settings and did what the manual suggested and I still wasn't happy. Needless to say I am looking for other options. Sure it seemed like a great deal...the price was low and the reviews were good...but beware. Aside from quality, it sounded like the thing was going to break when it was getting ready to print. The only positive thing I can say about this item is that it did print fairly quickly.

An excellent digital camera, great price, less than $300; very compact, fits in your pocket. A lot of features, support images with 1600x1200 resolution. I only recommed to buy an additional Compactflash Card because 8 MB its only for 7 high resolution pictures. 128 MB CF I recommend.

It's true that Canon S200 is compact, pretty, and well-designed. However, it turns up side down when talking about picture quality. I took some night shots and found unaccpetable outcomes. Usually, I don't use flash for night shots in order to get the atmosphere as much realisitc as I can into my pictures. Pictures from this camera look blur and grainy. Two Megapixel and three-point focus system don't seem to help. Transferring pictures to a computer is another headache. Unlike any other cameras, there is no direct access to a camera from Windows Explorer. I have to install 20 mb software and driver into Windows XP. After using for 30 minutes, I decide to return it. If you are a serious photographer, look for something else.

I bought the Canon S600 Printer 2 weeks ago and I'm not happy.1. It prints 1 PAGE OF TEXT IN 3 MINUTES (on parallel port) and 2.3 PAGES IN 1 MINUTE (on USB port), both in draft mode.2. Don't expect much help from Canon support technicians: they'll beat you around the bushes until you get sick and tired and give up any help. No return possibility or exchange with another printer is available from Canon.3. Don't expect to print more 218 text pages on 1 cartridge of black ink.4. Even my Lexmark Z11,Xerox and HP 600 printers are much faster.5. If you want to print in duplex mode, this one doesn't do it--you have to turn each page around by hand.6. The only good thing: the print and colors are significantly clearer than all other printers cited above. So, before bying a Canon printer, think minimum 5 times!

I've had a couple of digital cameras in the past. None of them was half as good as s200 in terms of performance and exterior design. S200 has a solid metal case which makes it both rigid and looking good. It is very easy to hold. Yeah, sure it is the smallest camera around but controls are definitely not crammed together. The pictures it takes are vivid in color and simply outstanding in clarity. The LCD on the camera is very clear under bright sunlight. I don't know how they did that but no camera I've seen came close on this. The battery life is also very good. It takes only two hours to fully recharge the battery. And it has Chinese language option! Which isn't really all that important to me but it's a plus I can use my camera in my own language. Overall this is a amazing buy. I have countless gadgets and this is certainly one of the most satisfying. The only con I can think of is the price at futureshop for this camera. Cheers.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this printer. Once I got it I was not disappointed. It was easy to install and setup. It works great with Windows XP. The output is sharp and clear. It prints much quicker than I anticipated.

I just printed my first photos on the Canon i850 and I wanted to thank all the people who took the time to review this printer. I took your advise and I'm as happy with the results as I've been with any purchase I can remember. Now I realize why I bought a digital camera (Nikon Coolpix 2500) in the first place. The photos were stunning in clarity and color. I am concerned about fading over the long term, but, hey, I can always print another. Also, I printed out a regular text document and it is as good as the HP Deskjet 882C I've been using. The Canon i850 delivers!

I find the Canon i850 to be just what I expected. Easy set up, good, but not great, text printing, and excellent photo printing. The only draw back is the lack of a USB cable, but I was able to use the one that came with my old Epson printer so that wasn't a problem for me personally. If you're looking for a printer that's geared toward photo printing, this is a good buy.

I didn't give this camera 5 stars but it deserves 4 1/2 which means I really like it and recommend it over the Casio Exilim EX-S2 which is half as thick. Both cameras were candidates for purchase until I discovered the Canon produced better pictures for enlargement.I went ahead and purchased it for snapping pictures of machine parts which can be zoomed in on for greater detail through the viewer on the back.

I have had this printer for about six weeks. Everything prints great, especially 4" x 6" photos. It's much faster than my old Epson and uses a lot less ink.I bought this printer with the fact in mind that I would probably be buying a digital camera in the near future. I was so impressed with the printer that when I bought the camera it had to be a Canon too.Canon printers always seemed second rate to Epson or HP, but they have left the competition behind.

I love how compact it is as I always missed out on taking pictures of places I`ve been because I didn`t want to LUG THE OLE CAMERA . 2 Mega Pixels are fine for "average joe" picture taking , I actually use less resolution (a feature the camera has) because most of my pics are for the computer or my website ... and don`t need such large files.Excellent camera for the price as of jan 3rd 2003 (I wrote date coz things change quick in this New Age world of ours

I got this printer in January while at college. This printer is very convenient and practical for basic reasons. It is quite cheap--I bought mine at just under $100, really easy to set up--I did it myself without confusion, and it prints quickly and nicely. My needs were straight forward and pretty elementary I suppose, and this printer is great at meeting my critera. Canon's print cartridges, both for black ink and multicolor ink, are incredibly price friendly. I was able to buy black ink for $8 and color for about $15 (give or take a couple of bucks at different stores). However, you will find you have to refill more often than with other printers. I had this printer for my 2nd semester--from January until mid-May--and went through 3 black ink cartridges. I never had to refill the color cartridge, as much of my printing was for research papers and things of that nature. For me, this printer is perfect. I think others with similar needs will conclude likewise.

I absolutely love my S200 Elf. I've had it for several months now and it's performed flawlessly. It's easy to use, takes great pictures, has a very simple interface, compact and quick battery charger (and the battery life is incredible). And you just can't beat the size and weight of this thing. My ONLY complaint is that there's no way to default the camera to "no flash". You have to manually press a button anytime the camera has been turned off in order to get it back to "no flash" again. It's a minor annoyance in an otherwise perfect camera.

I bought the camera due to its perfect balance between size and picture quality. I've been deployed in Afghanistan since September 02 and this camera has been with me every step of the way. I have been totally satisfied and like some of the other raters, I also recommend a larger memory stick and spare battery.

I just wanted a digital camera I can fit in my pocket and walk around with everyday. This did the job. Not only that, the camera's pictures amazed me. I can even take short videos with sound! The first day I used it in public, people around me were amazed how tiny this camera is. I use to own a HP315, but the S200 beats it 100%. If there are anything to nit-pick about... I wish the camera can record videos longer than 10-20 seconds. Regardless of your Compact Flash size, it can only take videos that long. You need to keep recording after the 10-20 seconds. Also, if you want to Zoom more than 2x, try the Canon S330 or I believe the S230 has it as well.

This camera is a dream. It does everything you want it to and more.. It even auto-flips your photos so everything is right-sideup! The camera works flawlessly with windows XP and Macs and it is so easy to create photos or even MOVIES. Plus it's so small that you can easily carry it around without having to string it around your neck, looking like a tourist.

This digital camera has alot of features that are very nice considering the size.Not to happy with the software it comes with and wished they included a case with the camera.But over all the camera alone is well worth it,easy to carry anywhere and takes very nice pictures a must have for every day use or just for those special occasions.Seem to be very durable and cool assecories like the under water cover for those pictures on a vacation or at a event in the rain.

I just recently bought a Canon S200 and i have to say, It's ALOT better than most cameras, even some cameras of higher MP. This is because it has a movie recording feature (yes other cameras have this too) but it records with sound! It records about 20fps and maybe lower if u record at max. resolution (640x480). The quality is great(resolution goes up to 1600x1200), it features auto focus, and for experts, you can control the ISO (theres an auto option for newbies). And the reason why I didn't give it 4 stars is becuase in movie mode, the lcd kinda blurs and gains static which is annoying and the quality on movies arn't that great. But, digital cameras arn't suppose to have superior movie qualities, that's what camcorders are for.

yea its a good printer with its good resolution and awesome ink thing. the tray is flimsy but you can put it back on but sometimes it just still falls off!! also when you turn it on it does this thing where is winds but thats ok b/c its probably cleaning the ink or something. the color photos look awesome on the sample photo papers that cannon provides!! i was like woooooa this looks like a picture from a camera. haha yep. ok go get it or another canon printer, they are good at this stuff.

Been an Epson customer over the years. But this time after allot of investigation, the Canon i550 won me over this time, over HP and Epson. Great output and I really like the seperate ink cartridges and quiet operation. For home use it is one fine printer.

We bought a second computer mainly for the kids and decided to get a budget printer for homework, letters, and other standard home uses. Consumer reports rated the S500(520 is the replacement) very highly so I took a chance on this one even though I am a Hewlett Packard fan since my 6 year old 660c model is still cranking away just fine.Pros: Set up was very easy(but watch out for ink on your fingers when you open the cartridges), prints well, pictures print okay, decent speed.Cons: Paper feed does not seem to work consistently. I can hear the printer "whirring" as though it misses latching onto the paper. I have to give the paper a push to get it through and am constantly adjusting the paper thinking it will work if I get it in just the right position. I may return the printer if it continues. Also, consider this printer only if you intend to put it on the top of a desk where it can be accessed easily. My computer desk happens to have the printer shelf on the bottom and with the flimsy paper tray hanging off, expect to kick it off a few times if you have the same set up. Overall: For the money, if you are looking for a printer for casual, standard home use(letters, homework) this may do the trick. But I still think HP builds a sturdier machine. P.S - If anyone has a solution for the paper feed problem, please post it. Thanks.

This printer was delivered on 6/17. I guess I was lucky, because the the expense seems to have gone up slightly (guess thats how [the reseller] is paying for free shipping on orders > 49). But even if it was 150 bucks, this printer would still be a winner. Canon is smart: their ink cartridges have no electronics on them (unlike some of their competitors), so replacing them is very in expensive. Also, it seems more simple and elegant inside. It "feels" (and sounds, when in operation) like a quality design.Printing quality: GreatI printed a 4X6 color on photo paper that was incredible. Black print on normal letter is more than adequate in quality and blindingly fast. The ink dried instantly on both.Installation/first impressions: GreatInstallation was a piece of cake. The Canon photo software that comes with it is excellent also. Much better than I would expect for an included software package.Only caveat: This printer does not ship with a USB or Parallel cable. So, remember to add a USB cable to your basket.

I've had this photo printer a few weeks now. I don't consider myself technically proficient. I totally scored despite gross ignorance with this machine. You cannot go wrong. The photo quality is astonishing. I've printed professional quality photos and framed them. The results are fantastic. For someone who is techno-challenged, I had this up and running very quickly.

Only convinient since you don't need a computer, just plugthe memory card or if you have a Canon Camera (not all Canon camera) and you can print the pictures.Not good quality picture at all, you still can see dots.Then I exchange for canon i850, this is much better and faster.

See my review on the S120 because most things still apply. Canon made a few positive changes on the camera interface side but most things are the same as the earlier models (i.e. optical zoom, resolution etc.) The new battery adds a little life but nothing earth shattering.Still the best camera out there for the casual photographer. I carry mine everywhere I go.As with earlier models:The zoom stinks, not a camera for profesionalsThe 8mb memory card is a joke, get a 64mb or a 128mbEven the new and improved battery isn't great, buy an extra one.Good luck!

I have the digital camera Canon Powershot S200 and just purchased this printer. Set it up last night without any difficulty and the photos I printed were fantastic. I am very pleased with this purchase. Would highly recommend this printer. I did use generic photo paper to start out with and it worked just fine. I am hoping that in the long run this printer will pay for itself and cut the costs of having pics developed at the store.

OK, I did a fair amount of research for printers in this price range and cheaper. I banged along on an old Epson 400 for years until my upgrade to XP left me without a driver. I thought about replacing it with another Epson but caught wind of too many hit and miss problems with quality control and customer service.Setup was quite easy. The printer is quick by my standards, shooting out a text draft that to me I would not be ashamed to send to anyone. I put in a sheet of high end photo paper and was very impressed with the results, though I did not buy it for that purpose. I like using the parallel port and saving an available USB port. In addition, I put an envelope in to print, a procedure I dreaded with the old Epson. Slick as a whistle, out came a clean smudge free envelope. I like the idea of individual ink tanks though I've not had to deal with a refill. I've had the printer a few weeks now and am very happy with it! Minor negative is the output tray. It has a concave design wich was well thought out, but the lip that attaches to the printer is shallow and if bumped will detach and spill your contents. Once I found it was vulnerable, I'm now careful not to bump it. That said, I'd buy it again!

4x6 photo printing on Canon's Pro paper looks as good as any store film prints. Installed easily to my Linksys wireless print server. Can not monitor ink levels through the print server though. Very happy with the quality.

this printer is a very good value for money....infact the package includes ink cartridges as well which some printers dont offer along with the printer..... but make sure the USB cable is not included for which you have to spend few bucks.....overall good quality ,home-use printer at a very affordable price........

I've had this Canon S300 for about two months. It works quickly and well. The set up was easy.I found a reconditioned unit for [fairly inexpensive] which definitely made a difference. Nothing obviously missing or short of new.The black ink seems to go pretty quickly but compared to the Epson I had been using the Canon cartridges are really inexpensive.

I've always wanted a digital camera and I finally settled on this one. I had several friends highly recommend it plus the reviews on Amazon looked very promising. They weren't wrong. I just love this thing! Slap a 128MB card in there and you can take so many good pictures! There are a lot of neat features to play with and different settings you can mess around with to get very nice pictures. The size of the camera is astounding. It fits right in your palm! Also, for all of you nerds out there, this USB camera works with Linux using gPhoto2 and gtKam! Definitely consider this digital camera.

This ultra-compact camera has excellent image quality in a tiny package. Perfect for that trip you always wanted to take.I use to have a Fuji Finepix 2600z and this one is much smaller (granted, Canon has a smaller zoom).The LCD panel is very sharp and bright and you can see it during a very sunny day, a major plus.What I liked:-Ultra portable-Very stylish stainless steel design-Excellent color reproduction-Great for closeups-Outstanding low-light shooting capabilities, for all those nightime pictures! (please use a tripod)-Fast battery charger (about 2 1/2 hours for a full charge)-Excellent value for your moneyWhat could be better:-Image sharpness was slightly soft-looking (is that a Canon thing?)-Average battery life (about 3 64MB cards)-Small flash does not have a lot of powerThe best thing about this camera is not only that it delivers great point and shoot pictures (for us amateurs!)but that it is extremely portable and provides a decent amount of experimentation and control via its straightforward LCD menu system.I highly recommend it.

Charge the battery and you are ready to go. This is as easy a digital camera as you will find. The 2.1 Mega-Pixel is not the greatest, however, for the average user that wants a fairly inexpensive camera, this is a good choice.

I DONT KNOW WHY SOME PEOPLE THINKS ITS SLOW... I THINK ITS PRETTY FAST FOR A SMALL LITTLE PRINTER AND FOR A CHEAP PRICE! I JUST BOUGHT IT AND I AM SO SATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT. I USE TO HAVE THE BJC2000 AND THERE IS SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE! I LIKE CANNON PRODUCTS BECAUSE ITS SMALL AND FAST! AND THE INK FOR THE PRINTERS ARE REALLY CHEAP!!! SO IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A CHEAP PRINTER AND DONT USE A PRINTER OFTEN... THIS IS THE PERFECT PRINTER FOR YOU!

Setup the printer with no problems (WinXP). Text printed fast and crisp. Printed out a photo using some Kodak Glossy Photo Paper I purchased from Sam's Club. The photos were overall dark and dull - My 2-yr old HP printer did better than that! Tried various printer settings with same result. Contacted Canon: They said that the printer driver was optimized for their paper. Finally, tried the trial Canon 4x6 Photo Paper Pro that came with printer. Excellent results; looked like a photograph. Looks like I'll have to be buying Canon paper for all my future photo printing. Would have rated this printer five stars if it had been insensitive to brands of photo papers.

Ужасно

This is a cute little printer but I can't say much about performance...the paper feeder on mine was completely defective. The paper feeder didn't move at all and I just emailed Amazon.com to return it. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Великолепно

I've had the camera for a little over a week now and it is everything you've read about it.The only flaw I've encountered is...a lack of a battery indicator on the camera. Since the camera requires its own rechargeable battery, I'd invest in an extra battery and an AC adaptor; reasonably priced and worth the avoidance of anxiety.I recently used the camera to take many pictures of the University of Texas tower lit orange in honor of the baseball championship at night. THe night settings were easy to understand and set. It was slightly difficult to take the pictures without a tripod and avoid the blurs....not unlike any other camera (digital or 35mm). I've found the software included to be use to use (although large @ over 20 megs) and the quality is superb.At this price and size, there is not another camera in its league!

I totally recommend this printer - totally. I'm loving it. I was looking for an inexpensive color printer that would do nice photos - and I got one with this printer.I'm very, VERY pleased w. this purchase. The printer was easy to hook up, the printer set-up was easy to install on the computer, and the quality of what I'm printing? Excellent.I'm printing a lot of photo stuff..., and the results are good - real good. The colors are bright, the speed good.Black text printing is VERY fast - especially when I compare it to the printer I'd gotten 6 or 7 years ago (one that cost more than $600 back then!) - and again, the quality is excellent.I've read that this printer, for some, is a little noisey on start-up. Ah - I guess it's a little noisey, but the "chugging" noise only lasts several seconds, then it's done. I can live with that.Any "down" comments to make on this? Not a one. Maybe months down the road my story will change, but right now? This is one TERRIFIC printer.

I recently purchased this item...there was a rebate on it. BUT nothing in the package or paperwork received indicated how to claim the rebate....HELP!!
