I have used Canon multi-function printers (2 different models) for a least 10 yrs. & have always been happy with the quality. The older model - I had identical machines at my home & office - lasted for about 9 1/2 yrs. I purchased a new MX340 for my home a few months ago so that I could take advantage of the wireless capabilities. I haven't been able to get that function to work. (I'll confess I'm technologically challenged.) But for the price paid I was very pleased with the quality of copies. (At home I only use it as a copier / printer.) So when my printer at work needed to be replaced soon afterward, I purchased one for there as well. It's used as a copier / printer as well as fax there.The word of caution that I have, is that once you start getting a message that your ink cartridge is low - do not replace it until such time as you aren't getting clear copies. The way I found out just how much ink is still in one of those cartridges is when I discovered that I had a fax being held in memory that wouldn't print because the cartridge was supposedly low on ink. I have a form that I use regularly, so I decided I'd use up the ink cartridge printing out a supply of those forms before I replaced it. This form has what I'd estimate to be a medium amount of text. Imagine my shock when I printed out 158 copies before the cartridge ran low enough that I wasn't getting good copies!So yesterday (a Monday) I happened to notice the little green light was on indicating something was being held in memory & it wouldn't print because the ink cartridge was low. Once again, I printed out about 150 of my forms (by now I'm getting an over abundance of them) before it ran too low on ink & I replaced the cartridge. When I replaced the cartridge, there were 3 items being held in memory - 1 insignificant report & 2 faxed orders from a customer that had been in the memory since the prior Thursday!! (I had not noticed the light before.)This was the last straw, so I sent an email to Canon customer service about this issue - stating to them that since the price of the ink cartridges are obscene, I needed to know if I have a defective machine or is this a ploy they use hoping people will replace the ink cartridges long before necessary.I didn't really get an answer to my inquiries - but I was told how I can force the printer to print documents being held in memory. Since I just replaced the cartridge yesterday, it will be a while before I can test to see if their solution will work or not.I just thought it would be good for people to know about this one big flaw (at least in my opinion it is a big flaw.) If you don't use it as a fax it would likely never be an issue for you - provided you are aware that you can still make a lot of copies after you're being told it's low on ink. But if you're going to use it as a fax, I'd recommend you find out how to force the printing of documents being help in the memory.If it wasn't for these issues, I'd rate this printer at least 4 1/2 stars.

It's a bit of a beast compared to smaller domestic printers - it's heavy so think where you're going to put it - but it produces first class A3 photo prints. Fine too for everyday printing but takes its time to get going. Eagerly waiting for delivery of A3+ etching paper to see how it performs in producing limited edition art prints.

Printer produces excellent quality output on CDs and all types of paper. Print rate is fine.

Based on a couple of months' use, the ink consumption seems quite good.

It is slow to start up and a bit noisy in normal use; I haven't tried the low noise setting yet.

When connected using USB the printer worked fine. But I could not get it to work wireless.
I contacted Canon by email on a number of occasions but they were unable to help and suggested that I return it to you.
Amazon have been very understanding and I have received a credit on my credit card.

Its a piece of s@#*! Canon supposedly good company on the paper but when you the product its a crap. I did research which end with canon printers the easiest to refill cartridges and so it was for couple times. Then printer refused to recognized its own cartridge saying "error your cartridge is not property installed". There is no way it makes any difference for the cartridge vs printer regardless its refilled or not. But those greedy MF want to charge you 10$ for 3ml of ink enough for 10 pages!! Maybe if they focused on making good printers and sell ink for what it costs they would not go out of business that often..

I have a dead Epson R300 photo printer and a dead Canon MX340 in my electronic recycle bin. I absolutely loved the R300. Photos were perfect, and the CD/DVD disc print function was outstanding. I really miss the complete printing options and performance of that printer. And I didn't mind the ink costs either. The MX340 just died one day. It would no longer communicate via wireless or LAN. There was nothing I could do to save it. So, having a daughter in her first year at university (and living at home), I had to get a new printer. After doing a little research, I settled on this Canon. I was a bit leery, since my MX340 died for no apparent reason (it was only a year and a half old), but the Amazon user reviews and other 'professional' reviews all pointed to this printer.It's a big printer, which is what I would expect from an MFP. It's the same size as my old MX340, and has the same functions, as best as I can tell. The big difference is the MX882 has built in duplex printing and wireless N functionality. Read other reviews for the cons of this unit's duplexing ability. For home use, it is perfect.I like the wake from sleep print function, and I like that we can print pics directly from the iPhone. There is no dedicated 4x6 photo paper slot (why not, Canon?), so you still have to make a trip to the printer to swap out paper size/weight. I'm not happy about the $50+ cartridge price, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the cost of the printer with knock-off rock bottom replacement costs - you always get what you pay for. I no longer have a land line, so I can't comment on the FAX capabilities.I have one huge problem with the scanning function of this MFC. The software leave a lot to be desired. Canon offers zero photograph scanning batch options; you scan one photograph at a time, or you don't scan at all. The software does not increment file names/numbers, so each photograph that is scanned overwrites the previous photograph scanned file; it is an absolutely horrendous file management system that ties the user to scan each photograph and rename.I'd give this printer 4-1/2 stars but for this major glitch. I recommend for the printing function. I do not recommend for photograph scanning.

This printer does some amazing pictures on a variety of media...photo paper, fine art paper, canvas.Do not buy it though if you are worried about ink cost....the ink consumption is rather excessive !!But I want the best quality possible, so it is worth it for me, I am quite happy with the printer and may end up buying one of their larger format professional ones to print bigger sheets also.

I'm a fan of Canon printers--my last one lived for over five years-- and so far I love this printer too, it's doing a terrific job in test-proofing designs and illustrations for clients. The wide format is such a welcome change from 8.5x11, and it's fast and it's quiet and easy to set up and use. (You can even print long pieces, up to 13" wide but as long of a page size as you have the paper for.) I'd recommend getting the Refillable Ink Cartridge KIT for Canon PGI-225 CLI-226 Cartridger from CISinks.com to go with it. You'll void the warranty by using non-Canon refillable inks, but the total cost for everything will be less than $200, which is about what 3-4 rounds of ink alone would cost you to purchase from Canon for any of their models. (And, of course, you waste less cartridges by refilling them.) Hope this helps! Good luck in your printer search.

I put in the search bar 'All in One Printer' what I had not realised was that it also showed me ordinary printers. Well I ordered this printer and when it arrived I set it up, put in ink cartridges, printed test page (briilliant copy), then I wanted to test the scanner and low and behold I couldn't it doesn't scan, silly woman. I had to keep it because there was nothing wrong with the printer itself and I had set it all up and used the inks. I now have a lovely printer, much too good for my printing purposes and a seperate scanner. Next time I'll read it properly. The printer makes a few noises to start with and prints first page eventually but after that it's great.

I must say that I love the printer. It does the job for what I was looking for and cost about $150 less than the one was originally purchased. I use it for printing heat transfers and it does a wonderful job and the color is great. The only problem that I had was not with the product but with shipping. I used the free saver shipping and I have to call repeatedly to locate my item. Other than that, everything else has been great.

I bought this printer because it is cheap and perfect for my printing needs (which are few and far between).When the printer arrived, it did nothing but blink the error code P22 (or more accurately, P, 2, 2, repeatedly). According to the on-screen manual that came on the driver disk, this meant that there was some internal problem and that I should contact Canon support. I emailed Canon support and they responded quickly and offered to ship me a replacement printer free of charge; all I would have to do is put the defective printer in the box that the new one came in, slap on the included shipping label, and drop it off with UPS. The replacement shipped via UPS Ground from the other side of the country and was delivered to my door 7 days after I got the original from Amazon. The defective one is making its way back to Canon. Three cheers for Canon support - some of the best I have seen from a hardware manufacturer. Normally I would subtract at least two stars for having to return a defective item, but in this case Canon's warranty exchange program has won back a star.The replacement works just fine, though I suspect it may have been refurbished due to a smudge on the scanner's glass where it appears to have been cleaned but not quite polished to perfection.... When I say it works just fine, this is considering that the WiFi in my house is pretty bad right now :D The first thing I tried to print (wirelessly) was the test page that I was prompted to print after installing the driver. Instead of a test page, I got half a dozen small windows logos on separate sheets of paper and was forced to cancel the print job and remove the remaining paper from the printer.Next, I fired up Photoshop and printed off two pages of full-color papercraft pieces which came out beautifully - no trouble at all. Then I tried to print a PDF in Adobe Reader and what I got was the first inch of the PDF printed on paper followed by a frozen print job queue. Yay for consistency. Repeated attempts to print this PDF resulted in the same inch of document and frozen print queue. A second PDF file I tried only gave me a half inch of document before the print queue froze. Terrific! Fortunately, the printer works perfectly over USB so I just used that to print my PDFs.Anyway, I have come to expect such broken behavior from the WiFi in my house. When using WiFi from either of my laptops, my internet speeds are inconsistent and slow, flash videos are unwatchable (they freeze and require manual intervention to restart), and file downloads tend to freeze shortly after starting and they never recover. Windows file sharing is completely unusable on my wireless LAN. Plug in the Cat6 cable and everything works perfectly.So, I do not believe the printer is entirely to blame for the problems I had when trying to print wirelessly. I will update this review as soon as I have replaced my wireless access point and tried the printer again.

I purchased this unit to replace an Canon MP 720 purchased from Amazon about 5 years ago and that has operated without fault until the print head went out last week.The unit was shipped in a factory carton placed inside a larger Amazon Box and when it arrived you could hear the carton inside sliding from end to end as the UPS man delivered to my office. When I got it home and opened the Amazon packing was the problem. A small quantity of brown paper stuffing inside the larger box did not prevent the smaller carton from rolling back and forth inside the larger carton. Fortunately the Cannon factory box and packing was professional and tough so no damage to the unit, I think.Everything went well although the set up instructions are not as clear as the MP730 was a few years ago and had it not been for my familiarity with that unit, this one would have taken much longer. The problem came when I discovered that this unit uses 5 ink cartridges rather than the four in the MP 730.The yellow one was not included in the shipment as it should have been. It was therefore impossible to complete the set up and alignment of the print head and print or copy anything.I went to Costco and gave the department manager my model number and he sold me a 5 cartridge package for the whopping bargain price of $59.00 plus tax. I took it home and opened it, inserted the yellow cartridge only to discover that while it looked identical and fit fine, it would not work because it was a CLI 221 and not a CLI 226 cartridge. That's right folks, the Costco employee sold me the incorrect cartridge and when I returned they refused to give an exchange or refund and in fact could not have done so even if they had wished to, (which they did not) as they did not have that item.Amazon was willing to give me a refund for the value of the one yellow cartridge and told me to go on line and order another one to replace the one not in the package. They also refused to send me a 5 pack for the now useless 221 ink cartridge set I got at Costco. I know that the later transaction was not an Amazon error but nevertheless they and their supplier Canon set the entire chain in motion and could acknowledge that by providing me with a package of ink that probably costs Canon at most $5.00 to make in some Asian sweat shop. None of this takes into account the two or three hours wasted or the gas to run out to Costco or the general aggravation. Thank goodness I was a Prime member, otherwise they would probably have hung up on me.The whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth for Amazon coming as it did on top of another bad shopping experience with them this last Christmas.

I purchased this printer mainly because it had wifi, and it was one of the cheapest wifi printers I could find. Although the printer works exactly how it is supposed to, the design and ease of use of the printer is not as good as printers that I have experienced with HP-although they did not have wifi.The pictures of this printer can be misleading. The paper does not load from the front of the printer, instead you have to reach over the printer to the back, pull up a tray and slide the pages in that way. Having my printer in a cabinet above my computer where it is easy to reach the front of the printer does not help when I have to put in paper. It's not a big deal, I just don't like the inconvenience of having to stand up and reach over the printer every time it needs more paper.Changing the ink is also a more difficult task with this printer as you have to open the top of the printer and use a kickstand to access the ink cartridges. I'm afraid sometimes I'm going to break something whenever I have to open the top of the printer to change ink because all of the internals of the printer are exposed. Again, compared to HP front loading printers (I've only owned HP printers before) where you change the ink from the front, this is another inconvenience.I haven't used the printer to print photos yet, I have heard it does really well, but the reason I bought this printer was because I use a laptop that I carry around a lot and do not like having to disconnect and reconnect cables for every thing I use for my computer. It was also a pretty cheap alternative to the other brands. I now know what I would get for the price I pay, and I will probably not be buying a printer again without going to a store and actually trying it out to see if I would have any issues with it.Overall, it's a decent printer (at a decent price) with some inconveniences.

I bought the MX340 from Walmart for $79 and I thought it was a great value. So when I got home it was very easy to set up. I was able to get the wireless connected without wires (necessary because I do not have access to the modem because it's in my landlord's room) and I was able to get everything set up in 20 minutes. I was happy to get the printer working and could not wait to use it (little things brighten my day). So then I set up the features and did my first test print. It came out great and I was happy with it. I am currently writing a novel so this is the reason for this purchase. I need to print out my rough drafts to critique any grammar mistakes or other issues with the work. So in this process I usually need to use a highlighter. Highlighting allows me to focus on a part for change or re-word and is the essence of rough drafting. When I use my highlighter it smears the print and messes up my highlighter. I am not a huge fan of that, considering if the highlighter has a dark tip it tends to look messy. I tried fiddling with a few options and it is still doing it. It's like the ink is printing too heavy, which could be why people are saying that they have to replace the cartridges so much, on light printing. I am trying to see if there is another option to this heavy ink issue but if not then I am looking for another machine already, and I have not had this more than a week. So far, not too happy with my choice.Edit: December 24, 2010I finally got some use of printing photo's on actual glossy photo paper and I have to say that this is an amazing printer! The color is so sharp and beautiful. The quality has to do with the quality of the picture taken with the device. If you have a grainy camera, the pictures will come out grainy. But if you have a clear camera, they come out beautiful! I printed things off the internet because I have no camera (yet). I found a few good one's under Thomas Kinkaid at different views and angles/quality. There was two that had to be magnetized to fit the 8 1/2 by 11 page I was using. Then I found two that needed no magnetization. The two that needed to be magnetized came out not that great. The one's that were great quality came out like Thomas himself painted it on that page. Then I found a picture of clouds in a blue sky to determine if the color changes any. I saw no quality change, even though I started running out of ink because of my photo-happy printing. By the way, I have had this printer for a while and have not bought any new ink. I am still using the starter ink that came with the printer. The color just dropped today and the black is still half full. Looks like this is a quality printer and it conserves the ink well. I would totally recommend this for anyone looking for a fantastic, but cost effective, printer. The issues I had before pales in comparison to the quality of the photo's. Purchase, you won't be sorry!Edit: March 7, 2012This printer is still going strong. I don't know what the 1 star raters are talking about, I have not had one issue with the machine. It uses toner really well, the pictures come out immaculate, the scanning features are awesome and typical printing is fine. Maybe some are trying to do more with the machine than what it's designed for so that creates a headache and annoyance which would prompt a bad review based on that but if you are to use the machine for the intended purposes there are no issues. I still would recommend this printer 100%!

I've had this for a year now (wirelessly connected to a Mac), and am deeply disappointed. Perhaps the good reviews are from brand-new users? My much older Canon Pixma MP 180 works beautifully via wireless connection with the same PCs, but, alas, isn't an all-in-one.Pros:--Scanning works well--Faxing works wellCons:--Text printing (when working at all) MUCH slower than other all-in-ones I've used--Long delays before printing, stuttering during printing, total stops during printing--Inexplicably loses ability to print regularly--needs to be turned off and on--Mysteriously switches to duplex printing, unrequested, for most PDFs--refuses to print them single-sided--???????--Very short cartridge life and high replacement cost

It seems to be a nice printer; I only have two complaints with it. The first complaint is that it is huge - much bigger than my old HP printer was. Of course, it does more than my HP printer did so that might be the cause. Just read the size measurements and make sure your desk is big enough for it. The other thing that bugs me is that it didn't come with the cable needed to hook it up via wire so I had to buy one separately. I tested it and the wireless function does work well, but imagine if you had a poor wireless signal or no wireless at all in your house - you'd be greatly annoyed by having to buy the cable separately. It wasn't expensive, but it was still inconvenient to discover this was missing.Aside from the cable issue, the actual printer itself is quite nice. It does fax, copy, scan, and even double-sided printing. It also has a lot of templates it can print out for you directly from the printer interface (it's got a little menu screen on it); it can print "college rule" paper, checklists, daily/monthly schedule templates, etc. That would be really nice for someone not so savvy with Word/Excel, but I'm not sure someone with only basic computer skills would even poke around enough to find out about that feature. I tested all the basic functions except for fax (something I'll never use), and they all work fine. In fact, this thing prints much faster than my old HP. I even tried printing a 4x6 photo on proper photo paper (something that takes a few minutes on my HP), and the Pixma spat it out in about 5 seconds. Regular printing is just even faster, and the quality of everything (including photos) looks great. It's speed makes my HP printer seem like a shaky old dinosaur. As for the ink cartridges, they are of the sort that are separated into different colors, so you could technically only replace one of them if that particular color is low. That's nicer than having to replace the entire cartridge because the yellow is out. However, you might have some problems buying just one color since the ones I saw for sale online included all of them. Of course, I haven't really looked that hard, so you might find some with a bit of digging. As for the prices on ink cartridges, they are about as expensive and overpriced as any other average printer's ink cartridges. So, make of that what you will.Overall, the Canon Pixma is a nice printer, but it's a lot pricier than my old HP printer. Let's just say that it's about a hundred dollars more expensive. I guess you'll have decide for yourself if it's extra functions and faster printing speed are worth the extra cost. If you work from home or need a really fast printer for whatever reason, then the Canon Pixma will probably be worth buying to you.

I don't do a huge amount of printing, but when I do I'd rather spend a bit extra in consumables so I can better control the end result. This thing makes great prints, and I can print from GIMP in Linux using the Turboprint utilities with ease. Color accuracy and detail rendition is very good, and this printer is well worth the money spent.

I produce full-color books and I'll never buy Canon again! It costs way too much for a printer that sucks. Its color management stinks, it is really, really SLOW unless you are printing at the lowest resolution, it goes through its tiny ink cartridges after printing a couple of documents, and it shows printing lines for which the heads cannot be realigned. I am glad I mostly do proofs otherwise I would get rid of this piece o' crap. Hope it dies soon so I can purchase anything better than this thing. Hate it!

For the price, I expected a lot more out of this printer. After a year (almost to the date!) it started having major problems, most notably the black ink would stop up and not print. The only thing that fixes it is a deep cleaning, which wastes a ton of ink! The other irritating thing is that it won't print if any of the cartridges are low, even if it's a color cartridge and I'm printing in greyscale. What's up with that? I'm so fed up with this printer.

Extremely well made and quite easily installed whether this be USB, wireless or cable Ethernet. The quality of image is superlative and the accompanying software which there is plenty of, is of the highest quality.

As a professional photographer I cannot sing this printer's praises any higher.

Overall a decent, inexpensive (<$100) all-in-one printer with a focus on photo printing but also handles light duty printing, copying and scanning in a home office setting. The printer does go through ink very quickly and Canon original ink cartridge replacements are expensive but reasonable OEM replacements can be found online. The print head died after 2 years after apparently overheating...to avoid this make sure you replace the ink cartridges just BEFORE they are empty and clean the print heads at least monthly or more frequently if printing heavily. I've decided to replace the print head for $60 rather than purchase a replacement model ($199) for now...once the second head wears out, I'll upgrade then.

I'm using the Pro Platinum paper along with OEM ink, and I found that photos that have pastel colors like a light violet came out blue, and a pastel pink came out darker more like a dark pink or magenta. What I believe is that this printer has five inks as compared to an eight ink printer so that it can't reproduce the subtle colors. Overall, disappointed in how this printer is rated.Solid colors reproduce okay.I downloaded the latest driver from the Canon website, maybe go back and reload the original driver?

This is a fine printer with one annoying exception. If you lose power, you have to go through a number of gyrations before you can get the printer accessible again (at least on XP). Seriously? A printer that has issues starting up from an unplanned power outage? Not the best. However, other than that, happy with it.

Quite simply a great printer for Apple Airprint enabled devices. We use the full range with no problems so far (iPods, iPhone 4S, ipad 3) and also use with a normal windows 7 netbook.
Ink seems to be lasting well even on the sampler cartridges included.
The printer is also very quiet in operation so this may be beneficial in some households or small offices.
Overall I would really recommend, we have used Canon products for years.

Documentation is very skimpy and poorly written. Also, the printer head receiver was not in the proper position when we started the install. Printer showed an error but not the correct one. After an hour, my husband and tech were about to do an exchange. I pointed out the print head was not going into it's correct resting placement and that it was not moving out to center of printer when cover was lifted. After 20 years using Canon printers, I was sure the problem was the with the print head position. On advice from the tech, my husband gently pushed the print head to where it should be, all the way to the right, and then powered up the printer. The printer then responded correctly and then did the necessary install process.

This printer takes forever to start printing. I rarely print, so often the printer is turned off. Whenever I turn it on, the printer spends a couple of minutes "processing" before it starts to print. This is especially frustrating when I'm printing only one or two pages. Sometimes this "processing" will even happen between jobs or even during a job.It is not possible to print when any one of the cartridges is out, even if you're not using that color.

An excellent printer, easy to set up and use. excellent quality of text, mixed documents and photos. Amazon got it to me the next day (literally 24 hours), which was a life-saver. Time will tell if the new ink cartridges are cost-effective.

This printer started out great, if a little noisy. It's got it's quirks, but it did a great job for the price. And then one day it just refused to work and the "alarm" light came on every time I tried to use it. I've tuned it up and tried every reset trick I can find. It didn't even last a year of mild use. I'm very disappointed.

I have a MP830 which has worked very well for me, so when I needed an additional printer I ended up choosing this one which seemed to be the most current iteration of my existing printer.I have very simple and standard equipment and needs (PC not Mac). I like to be able to hook up my laptop, my monitor, and my printer/scanner and then go. Setup for this printer was exceedingly buggy and slow. I had to redo it several times, with various failure notes from the Canon website (to which it linked without me seeking this). Now I have SIX drivers loaded: Canon MX880 Series FAX; Canon MX880 Series PRINTER; Canon MX880 Series Printer XPS; and a duplicate of each of those three labeled "Copy".If I don't choose the right one, nothing will print. When I do choose the right one, it takes a long time for the printer to make the connection and print (after the first print this is better).I also find the user interface for scanning much more cumbersome than the old model.I know there is a way to correct all of this (probably uninstall everything, reinstall, read the long online manual, etc.), but that's just the point. Why can't Canon achieve the level of competency required to produce products that will install easily on standard PC equipment?

Takes a long time to warm up sometimes but the functionality totally eclipses my last Epson printer. Love the design with the internal paper trays, which should help to prevent dust getting inside and clogging the nozzles. The best feature - it turns itself on automatically when you print.

Printer was very easy to set up. Fact that the out tray opens if you hit print without opening it is good. I haven't printed any photos yet which was part of the point of buying it. Printing of documents is fast with good results. I haven't quite got to grips with the scanning software although I have scanned documents successfully. This machine is quite big but I had already checked the dimensions. Its build quality is sturdier than cheaper versions.Can't yet comment on cartridge life.

I purchased this printer after researching lots of brands and reviews. To date, I have only been able to print 12 items....very confusing controls and the ink does not last!! I have had 2 techie people try to no avail to get this printer to function properly. At this point I guess I will trash it and go back to a HP printer. A very high price paid to print such a little bit of copies....do not purchase this printer unless you want lots of frustration and headaches. I am done with Canon!!

The printer arrived safely, well packaged, easy to set up, (I used direct USB hookup) and printed well. My concern occurred when I went to purchase replacement ink cartridges and discovered that my local office supply did not carry the cartridges for this model. Soo, the ink replacement cartridges need to be ordered well ahead so you don't run out on a printing job. Word to the wise: make sure ink cartridges are readily available frm your nearest office supply source.

This small and stylish printer is exactly what I needed for the office. It looks well, does not take too much space on the desk and serves the basic and medium purposes you would need in an office: reports, graphics, business documents, images and the like up to 11" x 17".An important note, the required USB cable is not included, something to keep in mind when ordering. It is extremely important considering that this is not a Wi-Fi printer, no cable=no printing. Ink cartridges though, are included.The instructions to set it up are straightforward and you may not even need them, install and use was smooth in a laptop running on windows 7. Contrary to our Epson home printer which had me go into their website and search for drivers and updates, this one installed with no need of such things. Which was great! The quality of the printouts is amazing, the level of detail in text and images makes you wonder if this is an ink printer indeed. I have also tried printing pictures in photographic paper and the results are pretty good, though in my humble opinion, they are not at the level of our old Epson WorkForce 635 Color Inkjet All-in-One (C11CA69201) which we use at home for such things; these are slight differences in color that the average person may not even note.Speaking of speed, the performance is outstanding, regular printouts come out really fast and you can barely hear any noise when the iX6520 is working; obviously if you are printing photos or documents in the highest quality, performance will suffer, but the results are well worth it.Another reviewer already mentioned something I considered a great plus, the device shuts off automatically after being idle for a while. I sometimes may forget to turn it off when leaving for the day so it is quite cool that the device does not stay 'on' while not being used.I have not used the software included, I normally don't use or even install those. I know there are templates you can download for free from their website but I have honestly not had the time to look into those as don't think I will have any use for them, some people may find them useful so I thought it was worth mentioning it.So far, I am quite happy with the results. It looks good on my desk and does the job required quite well.

Worst printer ive ever had. This barely used printer just showed a B200 error on the screen so I emailed Canon and they told me what to do to troubleshoot. It didn't work and so I called and Canon gave me 2 options...to bring it to a technician which I had to pay for or buy another Canon product for 25% discount. I asked Canon whats a B200 error and they dont even know. Canon is a total rip off

I've been using this printer for about 1 tear now and it has been fantastic.No paper jams no clogged print heads no problems of any kind so far.I was not expecting the photos I printed to look all that great since this printer only has three colors but I was very pleasantly surprised. Every image I've printed has looked very good.The only thing I don't like about the printer is that there aren't any XL capacity cartridges available so if you print a lot of pictures you'll be replacing the ink cartridges more than you would like.

This Canon replaced a non-wireless Canon for my family and, as of right now, I'm definitely happy with it (my parents are enjoying my old Canon, which is still trucking along quite well!). I wanted this one because it's wireless and, as I use a laptop and move around my house and outside, I really wanted it for its wire-free features. It was a pain to have to plug in to print and wait there until the printing was done. I felt a bit chained in place with my old Canon. With this one, I'm all set.The set-up for the wireless feature was relatively simple and, as soon as it was all installed, I was good to go! Wow. So much easier to just press print and have my stuff print in the other room, rather than going in to connect (Wow. I'm so spoiled with all this technology. Heaven forbid I should have to get up and plug in a plug. Still...I like being spoiled in this way!). Now, if you're an Ethernet person, you'll have to go back and forth between it and the wireless but, since I'm a wireless/USB chick, I was all good. (Don't know if that's something they're going to fix or what but, there you go.)Since there are five ink cartridges instead of just two, my colors are so much crisper and clearer. I love the pictures that I've been able to scan and print. While the scanner isn't the fastest thing in the world, it's so nice to be able to scan in old pictures and send them to family and friends. It's like reliving the old days, looking at those. I can't wait until I have a chunk of time to upload a bunch more and post them for everyone. Plus, when I run out of a certain color, I just have to replace that one cartridge, rather than the whole "color cartridge".When printing on just regular paper (make sure you don't get the cheapest kind or it'll jam up on you), the speed seems a bit slow but that's probably because I'm used to the laser printer at work, which just spits them out. However, it's not any slower than my other Canon and the pages look even better (both black and white and color). I guess if I'm going to continue to print large documents and I want speed, I'll have to upgrade. But, for now, this printer is more than capable and does a bang-up job.Because I don't have a land line anymore (I went the way of the cell-only crowd), I was unable to try out the fax but, since I don't really fax anything, that wasn't a selling point for me anyway. If you're interested in this feature, check out some of the other reviews who address this aspect of the printer.All in all, I'm quite satisfied with my new Canon in its pretty black shell (which is a huge dust-collector but oh, well. It forces me to be a better housekeeper...or not.)

I cannot find a printer that boots up and is ready to run in less than 3 to 4 minutes. This Pixma is just another poor example of printer engineering. Try to find something that prints more efficiently in terms of time and unnecessary racket and then let me know. Don't buy this one unless you have time to burn.

I hate this printer. I have been happy with my Canon printers in the past so wanted to get a Canon for my next printer was well. The latest printers also include a scanner which I thought would come in handy so I got this. It's pretty sleek looking, not too big considering it's also a scanner but I have to tell you I hate this printer!! I have never hated a printer more!Because there is a scanner component embedded in the system, it often prints out old scans (from weeks ago!!) when I am trying to print out. I have tried to look at the handbook but it is not helpful. I have looked under "troubleshooting" on the little online icon but there is nothing about this problem. The printer is also slow--slower than other slow printers I have had. you have to wonder if it's actually printing out and then ten minutes later (a little bit of an exaggeration, okay) after you've given up on it, it'll print out. And for some reason it keeps printing out my print-outs side ways--that is, on two pieces of paper rather than on one 8.5 x 11. And I am not selecting this!I hate this printer. I have never hated a printer more. And I have never given a worse review on anything before in my life.

There are many other reviews on here that tell you all about the features and benefits of this printer. Overall I find this to be a very good printer, with some really nice features. However my reason for posting this review is to be helpful to others who may encounter the problem I did with a C000 error.I removed the printer and proceeded to set up the printer. I made it all the way to step 1 in the set-up and upon power up I encountered a C000 error. I had tried numerous times to fix the problem, thinking I must have missed removing some piece of the packing materials (there's a lot) that is on the printer. I finally gave up and called Canon tech support.The tech support rep was friendly and said that the C000 error indicates that the printer is finding one of it's mechanism's jammed during the printer initialization. His thought was there was some packing materials caught in the internals of the pritner. He walked me through looking in ever nook and cranny on the printer (very thorough) and yet we found nothing. He suggested having it repaired at a local service center (or I could mail it in).Not wanting to give up quite yet, and now understanding what C000 meant I continued to figure out what was wrong with the printer before taking it in for repair. As I continued to look at the printer for any obstructions in the mechanisms I noticed that the printer ink carriage looked slightly mis-aligned. It appears it had become loose (during the orginal shipment), I simply pressed down on it and I could feel it snap into place. The printer then worked perfectly, no more C000 error! I'm surprised that Canon tech support didn't suggest this - so if others have a similar problem you may want to check the ink carriage and see if that may need to be pressed back into place.The duplex scanning and printing is really nice. The quality of the printer is really nice. Having it all operate wirelessly (including the scanning to my computer) is really slick feature. I've only had it a day, but based on my initial use I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this again.

I purchased printer primarily for the scanning function and then as a secondary printer for production runs since my primary is a higher end photo printer and slow. For scanning it does an adequate job, no real complaints. Unfortunately, as fate would have it, my primary printer went belly up about a month after I bought the MX420 so I am now using it as my primary printer. The speed is pretty good and regular prints are pretty good as well. The color/photo printing is horrible! I know this is not a photo printer, but the color matching is about as bad as it gets. My main gripe thought is the ink usage ... it uses an INSANE amount of black ink. My old i960 black ink would last for several months and I could print a couple reams with each ink (cost $12.99 each), but the MX420 uses up a black ink cartridge about every 150 pages normal copy and the ink tanks cost $22.00 a piece. This is obscene! I just finished a print job of around 360 prints of regular typed pages, no photos or anything that would take a lot of extra ink and I went through 2.5 black ink cartridges.The person who allowed the release of this product to market should be fired and arrested for forging an actual technical appliance! Don't buy this machine unless you have a bunch of money to throw away.So, I will now have to purchase another printer to replace my high end photo printer, which I no doubt would have done anyway, only now I think I will look somewhere other than Canon ... and I have used only Canon for over 10 years. Sad!

Working great so far, no problems, shipped quick, great price, more features than need, this is for my son at college - all his friends love it, they're all connected via wireless, and is good on ink usage - plus there are several very low cost suppliers (unlike with an HP printer that rips you off on high priced OEM ink). I have a MX850, which is very similar and love mine as well.
