We've had this printer for quite a while now and it hadn't been used for over 2 years till recently. It's an above average to mediocre printer (Image wise), it's friggin' noisy, sometimes takes an age to print a doc. But the sole reason I'm giving this thing 5 stars (Apart from the fact that it still works) Is the fact that the Ink cartridges still had tons of ink in them! I'm so used to ink jet printers drying out after about 2 weeks-1 month of non-usage I simply wasn't expecting this thing to still have a usable ink cartridge in it, much less have it's nozzles totally unclogged after only one deep cleaning cycle. Let me repeat that; It hadn't been used for 2 YEARS, and the thing still had ink to spare. In short, if you rarely use your printer, and have found that every time you DO use the bloody thing that you have to blow 30-70 bucks on a new cartridge, get this printer, you won't regret it.

The Canon Pixma iP90v printer met and exceeded my expectations. My wife saw it when a person measuring our windows for shutters came and printed out an estimate. She is an artist and has workshops at various hotels around the country. We used to lug an old Epson around, but it was bulky and printed pages at a snails pace. She like the Canon's size and I have to say it is portable, prints pages at a decent rate and can make nice color pictures. Set up was easy on our laptop. I really like the small size of the printer. If you buy it, it doesn't come with a USB cable, so make sure you have one. Bottom line, if you need a small portable printer that can handle regular paper and pictures buy this one.

I bought this battery after 3 of the cheaper (generic) batteries ran down after only a few pictures, one of those batteries swelled up and wouldn't come out of my camera. I'll not buy another generic battery for anything.

I have had this printer for almost a year and have spent more money on the ink tanks than the printer itself. It constantly gives error messages about the ink......this is low.....that is low....its in the wrong spot....then after taking it out and putting it in again....it will print a few pages and next day the same thing. Sometime I would not touch it and few days later it would start working again.Once I repalced all the tanks at once just to see what happens. It worked for two day and the same thing started...............This is the WORST printer I EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my first *all-in-one* printer. I bought it because I had no fax and I was using a vintage flatbed scanner plus a windows print-to-fax utility as my "fax" capability. I wasn't particularly interested in its print capabilities since I plan to get a high-end photo-printer in the near future. This unit is serving well as an everyday printer, and it sends faxes just fine. Setting it up to auto-receive faxes on a shared phone/fax line however was a trek into poorly charted territory, and I'm not sure I have it configured correctly yet... at least I have made sure it is not answering my phone before my answering machine does.It is a lot easier to keep paper in the back-feed paper slot than the under-the-deck cartridge.I like the duplex printing option, and it is fast enough for my purposes.Bottom line, I think the printer functions are fine, but the interface presents numerous buttons and menus, and the documentation could be more generous.

After reading reviews at Amazon and elsewhere and seeing the product in the store, the MP810 became my choice. Now I'm the winner!!I can't give this printer 10 stars and I'd like to. Printed photos from my digital camera are exquisite and vivid with great definition and depth. Love the separate color cartridges as my granddaughter often wears pink. Using the maintenance ink check, after 15 full coverage 8x10 sheets, the magenta cartridge was down 1/4 and the rest were still at the full mark. I've reproduced my husband's business card on card stock using a PDF format and he couldn't be happier. The 9 pt. font is clear and sharp. Printed maps from the internet are equally clear and sharp. Printing on both sides is so practical for reports and stored records. The scanned photos easily popped up into Photoshop CS and look great printed. 4x6 borderless are a snap and beautiful. Usually I wait 24 hrs. to place photos in an album, but I believe these are fully dry much sooner. Printed text included my 1040 and other reports in small fonts. Couldn't be happier with the printed text (though I noted other reviewers comments to the contrary). The film/slide scanner is the main feature for choosing this printer over the others. Last year I paid a local camera store $250 to scan 150 slides that were 60 years old. I am preparing another iPhoto book using more of the 60 year-old slides as well as old and new family photos.Though it is a larger footprint than the HP AIO it replaced, the MP810 looks sophisticated and runs very smoothly (do unlock the scanning bed when you are setting it up). It was an easy set-up out of the box. The screen on the printer is easy to use. Our somewhat elderly digital camera will soon be replaced, but in the meantime the SmartMedia card it uses works just fine in this printer. This is an awesome, A+ printer. Skipped the fax feature as a requirement since the old HP AIO still faxes OK as a stand alone. You will not regret owning and having fun with this beautiful, many-featured workhorse.

I've had this Canon All-In-One for about a week now. It was very easy to set-up with my Windows XP machine due to the clear, easy to follow instructions. It's desktop footprint is surprisingly small and it takes up less space on my desk than the printer and photocopy machines it replaces.Print quality overall is very good, while the printer is quiet and fast. Text is clear and crisp and color photos are printed with surprising quality on photo paper. Maybe not quite as good as a dedicated photo printer but, never the less, good enough for this professional photographer as quick proofs. The scanner is not of the highest quality, but seems to scan well at medium resolution and with fair color fidelity. Not quite a dedicated professional photographers scanner but perfect for normal home and home business uses. The software is easy to use and in advanced mode, quite flexible, enabling the user to dial in manual settings to make the best scan possible. The auto settings seem quite satisfactory for basic home users and should make scanned images look colorful and sharp.I have not had a chance to see if all the Fax functions work as advertised and I have not yet explored all the ways in which this flexible machine works. The 2 paper trays is a great idea - I store normal paper in one and glossy photo paper in the other - one push of a button on the front control panel and the paper source can be chosen, eliminating the need to swap out paper types.I will also have to see how economical the MP530 is with ink cartridges, but having spent the 1st 2 days printing everything I could as tests, the software reports that the ink cartridges are pretty much full. The MP530 looks great, performs very well and is a good price. So far I am very pleased.Update on 9-26-06 : I have had some time to use more of the many functions of this printer. The Fax function has now been tested and works fine with my telephone/answering machine. It sits in line with the phone and only cuts in to pick up the fax if there is an incoming fax, otherwise the answer phone does it's job unhindered. Perfect!I have had also a chance to print some photo business cards, quite a few high resolution 8x10 photos and the normal daily B&W text printing. Print quality overall has been very good and the Duplex print (as well as the duplex copy) functions have been very much appreciated and used continuously, as has the web print software. According to the ink cartridge software, the cartridges seem to be still fairly full. The ADF (auto document feeder) works ok if what you feed into it is uncreased, unfolded and of the standard letter size. The overall build quality is great and I have had nothing but compliments from people who have seen this printer and its output.

I bought this printer on Oct 15, 2005 to replace a Canon i950 printer that quit working. Read my updates below regarding the series of Canon printers that I have been through.Printer produces excellent photo prints due to the 6 ink tanks. Also it does duplex printing on plain paper which is a real plus.Individual ink tanks are definitely the way to go.Reason for my rating of 4 stars instead of 5 is because the previous printer (Canon i950) only lasted 2 years before the print head failed. However I bought this printer because it is the same basic mechanism and I was very happy with the i950 operation. With the excellent price of this printer, you cannot go wrong.==================================================Up until recently I was using a Canon BJC-600e printer for all my printing needs for about the past 7 years. It was an economical printer and I put a lot of paper through the BJC-600e cheaply by using 3rd party ink. The BJC-600e used 4 low cost individual ink tanks. Depending on how much of a certain color was used in newsletters, one color or another would definitely get used up more than another. Only the empty ink tank would need to be replaced. From that past experience I am convinced that individual color ink tanks are the most economical way to go so I looked for a replacement. The Canon i950 is what I was looking for. It uses 6 individual ink tanks. Two of them (photo cyan and photo magenta) are to give photographic prints more realism. My only difficulty so far with the i950 was with its initial setup. It took an extremely long time for the print head to become "primed" upon its initial out of the box use. I did deep cleaning many (over 20) times before the ink made its way from the cartridges through the print head and finally unto the page. This took so long (several hours) that I thought the printer was defective and was about to send it back for replacement. The manual does not mention this as being a problem. Now that the print head is primed, the printer works flawlessly.Standard paper printing of documents is fast and they look great. Photos are excellent, near photo lab quality. I couldn't ask for more.P.S. Don't forget to purchase a standard USB cable. A cable doesn't come with the printer.==================================================Fast forward to October 15th 2005.Print head is shot after 2 yearsI originally wrote a review on this printer July 12, 2003. Well here it is 2 years and 3 months later and the print head is shot. Only genuine Canon ink cartridges have been used during the entire time. The printer suddenly stopped printing one of the colors. Also some of the nozzles are non functioning on the other colors (per the nozzle check pattern). As a matter of fact, when pulling out the print head and inspecting it, I can see where a couple of the traces on the flex circuit to the head have actually burned. Looks like an electrical short in the print head must have occurred. A new head for the printer costs $100. I guess I'll be pitching the printer. To be fair, up until the print head failed, I have been extremely happy with the printer and the professional results it produced. It is just a bummer to toss out a printer that was fairly expensive at the start.I am still undecided what I'll buy for as a replacement printer. If I buy another inkjet, I will definitely be an inkjet that uses individual cartridges for each color. However I am seriously considering a low cost color laser printer. Color laser printers are starting to get to be affordable ($400 range) and the cost per page is much less than a inkjet. On the minus side, color laser printers do not do as good of a job printing photos. However if I really wanted a professional photo, I had it printed at a photo lab anyway.

I purchased a new battery pack right before our trip to Alaska. We did not have any problems and even forgot to charge it one night and it still performed all the next day. This is the second battery I have bought for my S300. The first Canon battery pack lasted 5 years (it came with the camera), the second battery (first replacement) - a Maxwell - lasted only one year. I will only buy a Canon battery pack from now on. The life span is much longer. The Canon Battery Pack cost a little more but it is worth it in the long run.

I do like this printer very much. The prints are nice and pictures are crisp. Also, awesome software comes with this printer. The printer itself is loaded with options, dual page, also has a tray where I have photo paper so no need to swap paper out. I like this printer alot!BAD: Fax. seems it doesn't have a good mode for fax. I had an old brother MFC5100c that handled faxes great. I don't get faxes often, but when I'm dealing with something I may get a few during a small time window. I had the brother printer set up on automatic. If I was home and the phone rings: I pick up...if it's a voice call I talk, if fax I hang up and fax would auto pick up. If I was away and phone rings: answering machine picks up if voice they leave a message, if fax the answering machine would hang up and fax would pick up.Now on this printer/fax I set it to manual. I have to know and expect a fax is coming, pick up the phone connected to the fax (must have a phone connected to this printer) hear the tones and then press Start on the printer/fax.If I'm not home I guess no fax. I spoke to Canon and there was no solution that would suit my needs. One other issue, seems that I am having a problem with the ink. Seems every time I have to open the printer, unlock and relock the ink back and then it recognizes the ink cartrage. I'm sure after I call Canon this problem will be fixed.Over all I do like the printer, not happy with the fax but like I said I really don't recieve that many faxes to look for another product.

This machine is easy to use and the printing/copying is superior, but the ink evaporates. When I first bought it, I was using it all the time. It seemed like I was going through more ink that my previous Canon copier, but I was doing a lot of printing. What bothered me is that I was doing all black printing and the color cartridges were running out. Now I only print or copy a couple of sheets a month and I go through two to three sets of cartridges a year, including the color cartridges which I NEVER use. I LOVED my previous Canon copier, but I hate this one. I'm currently in the process of looking for a new 4 in 1 machine. I was going to give away or donate this one, but I don't want to stick anyone with this piece of junk, so I'm going to recycle it.

I love my new Canon printer. It is all the ad said it was.The only problem I had was one of the ink wells came damaged in the box. It would not snap into the ink head because the little plastic clip was broken off.I notified [...] and they immediately sent me an entire new unit. They made it very easy to make the return as I had the option for UPS to do a pickup at my home. All of the labels and paper work were emailed to me and easy to understand. All the email correspondence was answered in a timely and courteous manner. The one thing I would have liked was to have been able to talk via phone to an associate. There was some minunderstanding in a few of the emails and it was frustrating to not be able to actually talk to an associate.I looked everywhere but could not find a phone number to call.Overall, I was very pleased with my purchase and the return policy. I would definiely purchase from [...] again, and would recommend them to my family and friends.

I can't say a lot about this printer as I have only had it a couple of days, but I did print out a 4x6 picture and a text document and made a couple of copies. I was very impressed with the quality of the photo (just as good as a photo-finishing lab) that I printed out on Canon's sample pack of Photo Paper Plus (glossy). The colors seemed to be accurate and there was absolutely no graininess that I could see in the picture.I wasn't quite as impressed with the quality of the text document. Characters in the print were not very crisp in "standard" printing mode, but were pretty good in high quality mode (although still not as sharp as a laser printer). The copies I made were pretty good in high image quality mode, but I had to adjust the exposure up a step or two to make the copy just as dark as the original. I also did a couple of B&W test scans, but those did not turn out as sharp as I expected (they did not appear to be 600dpi). I'll have to do a little more experimentation to find the ideal settings.Even though I haven't had much experience with this printer yet, I would say that so far I am pretty pleased. The prints are pretty good, the printer appears to be well-made, and the front panel is nicely laid out. It's also fairly quiet (my former printer, a Brother HL-1040 laser, was very noisy). I'm looking forward to many years of use with this printer and am pleased to finally have a printer that can scan, copy, fax, and print beautiful photos. The automatic document feeder is a bonus, too.One last thing: The printer is quite a bit larger than I had expected and it takes up a big portion of my desk space. Make sure you read the dimensions and realize how much space it's going to take up before you buy it.**Update: I just found the secret to printing excellent quality B&W text documents. BUY GOOD QUALITY PAPER! I recently purchased some HP Color Inkjet paper and the print quality is much better than before (near laser-quality). I am very pleased with this printer's output now and would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good All-in-One. If only Canon could make it a tad smaller... :)

I purchased this printer after a very bad experience when I traveled away from home and needed to print out a simple document. So I had my laptop and I saw those ads about a business that offers to be your office away from home. Well, I could not get the document printed out. So I did my research and purchased the BJC-50 since it was the smallest portable printer available at the time (the two Canons and a HP version). My BJC-50 is about seven years old and still works. It worked well with my laptop and Windows 98 and now with my laptops using Windows XP.PROS:The BJC-50 is the smallest available travel printer for printing documents and prints at a relatively acceptable speed. The BJC-50 printer includes a LiON battery which makes for truly portable printing. I'm amazed how long a charge lasts and the battery pack is inside a battery compartment in the printer (not externally like the HP Deskjet 460 series). Well, the LiON battery is piggy back attached to the HP 460. I'm guessing that HP recommends removing the battery before traveling. You don't need to do that with the BJC-50. Just remember to slide the power lock switch on the right side of the BJC-50 to prevent the printer from accidentally turning on when traveling.CONS:The REALLY BAD part of this printer is that the ink cartridges, once opened, do not last very long. The color cartridges dry out faster than the black cartridges. And the ink cartridges do not provide feedback to indicate the amount of ink remaining in each cartridge. The printer is relatively loud when it is printing. You need to be careful when feeding the paper otherwise the printer ejects the paper.I cannot get the IS-12 Scanner Cartridge in the BJC-50 printer to communicate with the IS application under Windows XP even though Canon's web site and the Readme file says it is supported (there is a configuration issue somewhere). This is more effort than its worth for now.SUMMARY: This is one temperamental printer. While it provides convenient printing on the go, I think it takes more effort than it should just to get something printed.I'm purchasing a HP Deskjet 460WF. I'll let you know how I like it soon.

The Canon PIXMA MP530 is an excellent all-in-one office machine. The basic features of printing, faxing, scanning and copying all work extremly well and produce top quality results utilizing the on machine controls. The print quality is especially impressive (what this review will focus on) with text and graphics on par with most laser printers. The photo quality is near, if not equal to, any automated photo lab. The controls of the printer are detailed and very complete offering experienced users (or those willing to learn) significant control over several aspects of printing. This control is critical to printing photos because the standard settings print a shade or two darker than what is on screen. The dark prints are the only down side to the function of this machine and are the reason for the reduced "Star" rating. Because of the ability to correct the brightness setting in the printing preferences we rated this printer at 4 stars, actuality a bit low of a rating, 4 3/4 stars would be more accurate. Reading the manual and being able/familiar with the on machine controls and software based printing preferences are essential to utilizing this machine's capabilities. The software print controls are one of many features that make this a machine capable both in home and office office environments. Here are some of the features we have found very nice in our home use.The MP530 features a five tank ink system which reduces ink replacement costs. If ink is purchased in the multi-packs it is very reasonable considering the longevity of the ink. We have printed several hundred text/graphic pages and around 10 full page 8.5"x10" glossy photos and the tanks are still above 50%. The integrated ADF is very useful if you have multi-page documents to copy or scan and works well. The duplexing function does a good job as well, saving us paper. The Scanning results are nice with good color, detail reproduction, and a quick interface. The Copying function operates well, though some of the adjustments (size, contrast etc.) are difficult to use unless the manual is read. The key to this machine is to read the included manuals and to work through the well designed options menus to get what you want out of the machine. For the price, the features and performance are difficult to beat.

This multi-fucntional printer works great. Print, scan, fax, copy for normal office needs all work as well as the large Xerox multi-fuctional machines at the office and you all know all well those machine works. The document feeder works good for letter size paper, but smaller size paper tends to occasionally cause problems if the paper guides are not set correctly. Also copying large legal size paper sometime causes problems, the machine sometime cuts off the image at letter size. But overall for a personal office use, it's excellent!!Color document output is outstanding, colors are uniform and well saturated even on plain paper. Output on plain paper rivals most color laser printers, with no noticeable bleeding or banding.I am a pretty serious photography guy, I have encountered some slight problems with color photo output. There're at least 5 color profiles that came with the printer driver but none of these have very well documented instruction on how and when to use each. So color matching a color photo is a guess and choose type of exercise. I found one of the color profile is good for color saturation but tend to be warm, while one of the other is more accurate on the color but have high dependency on the white intensity of the glossy paper used. However, for casual users, none of these would matter significantly for family photos once an appropriate profile is chosen (this takes a bit testing) or the default windows color matching is used. Canon should provide better instruction on what color match profile to use under what conditions. Again this is mostly for careful color matching concerns, considering this is a home office printer, the color photo output is outstanding to say the least. Once the correct color matching procedure is found, the output colors are very accurate. Printing speed on the glossy photo paper is rather slow.A MAJOR advantage is the individual ink tank design, which are normally only available in professional ink jet printers from other manufacturers. Consumable waste is minimized in such an arrangement, which makes good economic sense for a home office.

And I've owned many. I've had this printer for almost a year now. It was OK at first although it didn't print well on certain types of paper regardless of the settings. That was disappointing but I thought I could live with that. About 3 - 4 months into owning it, problems began. And I didn't learn about the problem because I didn't have a need to print more than one document at a time. Naturally when I really need this thing to be dependable, it isn't, like now. I don't print large quantity often but when I do, I want my printer to work and work as well as the manufacturer claims. Whenever I need to print a fairly large job (for an injet, that means about 10, right now I cannot get beyond 2 without a problem), by the time it prints the third copy, blue is green, or maybe it's pink, or I get a rainbow effect. Needless to say, I waste good paper and lots of ink. And yes, of course I check to see if all the ink cartridges are full before embarking on such jobs. So I have to do a deep cleaning after every two docs printed, and even that doesn't always work the first time. It has taken me two days now to print 25 documents. When it does print well, however, it prints very well, but what good is it if a quality print is a crapshoot with this thing? Perhaps I got a defective printer, but who would take back a printer you've had for 3 - 4 months, without a box? It seems today, although we pay less for technology, we also receive less in quality too.

I have used this printer for over a year. I am a busy tax accountant and I have found the printer to be fast, extremely reliable, and easy on the ink. I love it that it will let me keep printing until the ink actually RUNS OUT. None of this forcing you to change the cartridge early. I haven't measured it, but based on my past experience with other printers, I think I am getting good value in number of pages for ink cartridges used. I am away on a extended business trip, so I decided to buy a printer there. BIG MISTAKE. I bought an HP that was really not up to the job, returned it and got another HP- the HP Officejet 5750. I can't believe this printer is in the same price range as my Pixma! The document feeder on this HP is slow and loud and its already asking for ink (Not forcing it yet) at about 120 pages printed. The Pixma is smooth, reliable, perfect for heavy use in a small business, and economical.

I've only had my printer/all-in-one for about 6 weeks but am extremely satisfied. The pictures are outstanding and the colors are dead-on. I've used the scanner once and it is very user friendly and easy to use. I have already recommended this printer/all-in-one to several people. The other great thing is the price for the ink--at amazon all combined were about $72--not bad considering the outstanding quality of the print--compare this to HP or Epson and you'll find this a great deal!! And the amount of ink used for the pictures I've printed is also great (not a lot of ink used!). I've had both HP and Epson and this printer/all-in-one is much better in ALL regards. You will find this machine to be larger than the usual printer--it will take up as much space as a VGA computer monitor. I would highly recommed this to anyone looking for a great device and not spending a lot of money.

I am always very skeptical when buying new computer related items but this Pixma All-In-One is GREAT! Photos are as good as, or better than, the ones I get from my little PictureMate and I think it is great too! The options for sizes are wonderful with this printer and functions are easy to use. It is fast, quiet and print is clear and crisp. I printed 7 calendars at Christmas time with half page full color photos on each page plus many many pages of plain text before any of the color tanks that came with the machine even started to flash low ink warnings. We had no trouble getting the FAX options to work, although we don't use it for faxes, at least we know it's there if we need it, so that wasn't even a concern for us. The only bad thing I can say is, as I read in at least one review before I purchased this, it does sometimes bump us offline when we turn it on AFTER we are already in a program or on a web page. It does not ALWAYS do it but it is a small annoyance when it happens, especially if you are buying online and want to print a confirmation page. If you can remember to turn the Pixma on before you turn on your computer, or at least before you go online or start your project you won't have that irritation. This is such a small annoyance for us and we are so pleased with the overall performance of this machine that we would still buy it again. Although the ink tanks appear to be non-refillable you can still refill them...but...it says in the manual that when the ink is low on a refilled tank it will not recognize it and you will no longer get the blinking low ink warnings to alert you and if you run the tanks dry you will damage the print heads so if you are going to refill them, as we do, you will need to watch ink levels closely! Overall the Pixma MP530 is a great little copier/fax/printer/photo/ scanner. If not for the bumping offline problem I would have given it a 5 Star rating.

I don't print much at home and I don't like having a big bulky printer taking up space. I have owned the older iP90 model for years and it's performed flawlessly. I print VERY little. In 3 years I've only replaced the ink 3 or 4 times. I mostly print webpages (maps directions) and electronic faxes. If you print quite a bit, you should consider a printer with a flat paper loading area, a bigger sheet feeder, and possibly dedicated paper output space. Paper in the ip90 input slot left for a long time will get a slight curl, and it only holds a small number of blank sheets. I usually leave it empty and put blank sheets in only when I need to print something. This works out perfectly for my light workload, as when I'm not using it, I often store it in a drawer to save desk space and clutter.

Received this mini260 recently as a gift. It was very easy and quick to set up and get up and running. Just remove a few plastic wrappings and pop in the ink cartridge, print out 2 alignment strips and you are good to go. Just select number of copies and press print and off it goes. You can select standard or high quality, but they both looked great and identical to me. Using standard gives you prints in 20 or 30 seconds. The higher setting takes just under a minute. I started using it before reading the instructions so at first I was printing the same photo over and over, because it was the only one selected to print 1 copy. It does not print what you see on the screen unless you have selected at least 1 copy of it. There will soon be a battery pack for this but it is not available yet. I also have not found a carrying bag for the printer and accessories made specifically for this printer (like HP has), so I just use a small laptop case which works perfectly to carry the printer, AC cord, extra paper and ink. The prints come out dry, they look great and this has been a very fun printer to use. I'm very impressed and partial to the Canon quality of cameras and printers. They just seem to always work great with no hassle. There is a separate sheet of paper included with the printer easy set up guide instructing you to make sure the ink cartridge sits nice and snug in it's slot. It's just something Canon wanted to add after printing their setup guide to make sure you pop the cartidge in place properly. Another reviewer made it sound like a big deal but it's not. You'll know if the ink is sitting properly or not. I have a lot of Canon photo paper but also tried some other generic brand and the pictures look just as good. So, maybe this printer isn't very picky as to the type of photo paper you use. I know Kodak paper works great on my Canon i550 printer for photos. Also, this is a very quiet printer. Not much noise when printing at either standard or hi-quality. The carrying handle that slides out of the unit is also pretty nice when moving printer from room to room.

I bought the Canon Pixma ip90v printer to replace a non-portable printer that was relatively light weight, but a little bulky to carry around. In addition to the driver, the printer software loads an on-screen manual on your computer which turned out to be handy because the first time I used the printer it kept feeding two pages at a time. I went to the on screen manual's trouble shooting section, and it immediately provided the solution that fixed the problem. I am very happy with the performance of the printer, and Amazon had it on sale for about 30% off list price. If you have ever checked out this printer, you know how rare it is to find it discounted at all.Canon Pixma iP90v Photo Inkjet Printer (2238B002)

The print quality is adequate but canon made the machine ultra sensitive to the ink sensors. It also sucks up the ink even when you don't use it. I avoided printing in color, but within a few months the color ink disappeared anyway, and once ink is empty you can't print anything, even in black. They also don't want anyone using non-canon ink but and in the process of creating this sensitivity a lot of unnecessary errors come that lock up the entire machine. While it works if you keep buying canon ink expect to spend hundreds of dollars on ink every year. Don't buy this machine!

Our HP finally gave out and we settled on the Canon Pixma MP530 after searching reviews, features, etc. We LOVE this thing. It prints, copies and scans beautifully. Everyone in the family uses it with ease. We also use it for some work projects. We are not currently in need of the fax feature, so I can't comment on that. The set-up was quick and easy. I love the top-feeder option becuase I can put multiple pages to copy and then walk away, if needed. Also, having 2 paper feeder options if very nice, especially if you are working on two different projects - you don't have to keep loading and unloading different print paper. It's compact, quiet and does beautiful work. We are very happy.

This printer is great for light volume, high quality printing. What I love most about it is that it can print 8.5" x 11" sheet and it is only the size of a book. It is lighter than a dictionary. It does not print as fast as a Laser Ink Jet but fast enough. The ink cartridges are small, but it was expected because the whole printer is so small! The black one lasts 2 to 3 months before we replace with a new one. We only print on the average 4 pages a week in our household so it has not been a problem for us. My experience is that one black ink cartridge is good for printing about 60 to 70 pages of average contents such as expense reports, boarding pass, maps... Not too dense. Our color ink lasts a bit longer because we seldom print photo. It does have a low ink warning which I often ignore till the print becomes too faint. And I wish the blue tooth adapter was built in but you have to buy additionally.I got this printer from another online retailer at a great price but it arrived not working. The printer head refused to feed paper. We went to the Canon website and found out our local Canon authorized service. We took it in and they fixed the problem within 2 or 3 days free of charge. The cost was covered by warranty. We are quite pleased with the product and the service.

Canon color is the most accurate color I have seen in any printer. I like the fact that each of the four cartridges will only cost $11.00. Compared to my older LEXMARK which tried to make all of their money in ink sales, canon ink is reasonable. The software for the Canon PIXMA iP3300 Inkjet Printer (1437B02)is very good and installs very quickly for WIN XP. I have printed beautiful photographs on cheap dollar store photographic printer paper and the images were excellent even on cheap paper. The color reproduction could not be better, I am truly amazed at the accurate reproduction of colors. I use this printer for text as well in the fast mode and it does fine with text. I have not figured out how to use the front print tray yet. The Main print tray in the back of the printer works fine with standard letter paper and 4X6 glossy and envelopes printed from MS WORD. If you are using VISTA ( the half completed operating system project from Microsoft ) you may want to check for VISTA drivers availability for the Canon PIXMA iP3300 Inkjet Printer (1437B02) on the canon download site. Because printing photographs is so costly I prefer to use my photographic printer mainly for text and the occasional photograph, however when I scan an important document I expect that my printer will deliver a faithful reproduction and the Canon PIXMA iP3300 Inkjet Printer (1437B02)certainly does that. You will enjoy this printer on XP!

This MP530 does all the functions as stated. What they DON'T tell you is... it doesn't work with answering machines unless you have a dedicated line or a distictive ring (which costs money from the phone company and is not available in all areas). It does not work with our basic phone answering machine. You have to either keep the machine off and then run like heck when a fax comes in to turn the machine on, or leave it off, which does no good when you are out of the office. If it is on when a call comes in, the callers get their ears blasted out with a fax tone.It also seems to purge all the ink tanks when turning on and shutting down. I have honestly gone through tanks of color ink while not having printed a single color page. As I stated at the start, it does print quality docs and photo's but these 2 negatives are so extremely anoying and frustrating that I am getting rid of this scam of a machine after only 4 months.Don't buy one unless you want to spend more $$$ and more $$$ and more $$$ and more $$$........................

I am pleased with my purchase of this machine and I think it represents good value for the money. I really like the design of the machine (something I have never said of a office machine before) and its look and feel. I am impressed by the many thoughtful touches. Here are three that others have not pointed out:(1) I live in a dusty climate and I am really grateful that you can close up almost all the entry ways into the machine and it still works. If the paper outlet tray is closed it will automatically open. There is a bottom tray for paper so you don't have to use the top loading tray.(2) There are two seprate black ink holders, one for use in color printing and the other for regular printing.(3) The machine coallates!(4) You can use the copy function w/o you computer being on.Having said this, the machine is not perfect.(1) I was seriously bugged by the duplex feature on the machine. Whether scanning or copying you have to intervene to rotate the paper. In addition, it's slow. It takes three minutes to make each two sided page. If you do a lot of duplex copying or scanning this is not the right machine for you.(2) The machine makes a lot of noise and worse it shakes the desk its on so badly that I cannot write while it is printing. I have a very study solid oak desk and this thing shakes it around! These two complaints cause me to knock it down a star. One point of confusion: the Amazon write-up states it comes with a two-year on-site warrenty but the paper manual states that it is only a one-year off-site warrenty. I don't know which is correct. My overall impression is that this is a superior machine for home use or a microbusiness that has no significant needs out of the ordinary. But it is not intended to be a workhorse or have all the bells and whistles.

I've had this printer for about one year. As many reviewers have said, it's heavy, but I leave it in one place and never move it. I only use the scanner and printing functions so I don't have any comments about the fax quality or capabilities. It works well enough. My one big complaint is that that you cannot use the other functions (at least the scanner) when you run out of any ink. I purchase the Canon brand ink tanks but the last magenta one I bought was apparently defective and the irritating thing was that I could not use the scanner until I purchased a new ink tank. Once the ink runs out you cannot do anything! I wish I had known this before I purchased it.I've also had loud clicking problems lately and will need to call the support center again. At least the support center folks are friendly. I kind of wish I kept my old printer and purchased with a cheap flatbed scanner instead. I've never had an all-in-one before so maybe that's why I've never experienced printer problems in the past.

You should be aware that this printer has a serious "ink low" behavior. When any ink cartridge is getting low (which still means a lot of ink left by the way), it changes the Fax reception model. Instead of printing your faxes as they arrive, it dumps them into memory. So, even though yellow (say) is low, it will not print your B&W fax!It takes more than 5 steps to print the fax and delete it (menu, scroll to memory item, ok, scroll to print, OK document, scroll to print all pages, ok, menu to go up, scroll to delete, ok to delete, ok to delete, menu to get out).Worse, after a couple of these, the memory is mixed up. So, when you want to send a Fax, it will say "memory full" even though the memory is empty. You then have to power cycle the printer (hold down on/off for 1 second, wait 10 seconds, power on, wait for it to get ready (another 10-20 seconds). This means you either have to waste ink by throwing out cartridges before they are empty, or you have to deal with this mess. Canon says there is no workaround or fix for this. There are 3 other problems with copying you should know before you buy (I wish I did):1. You cannot use the Auto Document Feeder (sheet feeder) when copying or scanning with any setting in auto (exposure, size, etc). It does not make any of that clear, so if you find it refuses the auto doc feeder, reset everything to manual :-(2. Black duplex printing uses color cartridges for one of the sides, so uses the more expensive ink. That is, it does not use the blank ink for both sides.3. Copying speeds are much slower than the blurb implies. If you make 10 copies of one page, it is as fast as they say. If you copy multiple pages, each one takes much much longer, does the scan, and then does the print. Also, if any setting is in auto mode, it does a two pass scan (one to check the page), and that takes a really long time.

I recently purchased an HP Officejet j5780 and found it a bit noisy/slow, so I bought this one to compare (recommended by a local store that said it would be MUCH better). Set up was easy. It is a bit bulky and has a really annoying clicking sound the whole time it was on. Drove me nuts. Printing speed is comparable to the HP j5780. Print quality was excellent and the fact that it has 2 paper trays is nice. The document feeder is kind of flimsy and doesn't work very well. B/W copy quality is fairly good, but not great. Color copy quality is faded/comparable to the HP. Photo print quality is poor, with flesh tones taking on a yellowish-orange hue. If you plan on mostly printing, this is great, but all other options are average. I haven't used the fax yet. I plan to return this and keep the HP as it is more compact with better photo quality. While the HP isn't great, the only thing that the Canon has over it is better B/W printing/document quality and probably better use of ink (HP goes through it quickly). But, maybe it was the annoying clicking sound that scared me away!!

Canon Pixma iP90v Photo Inkjet Printer (2238B002)So far I am happy with the printer results (not had it long but used a color cartridge already) BUT I HAVE TWO CRITICISMS1. The printer did not come supplied with a USB cable so I could not test it until I went to a store to but one. I did not have much time to waste so it was very challenging and I think it is a crazy policy not to make it compatible at the get go2. I wanted a battery too but it was not clear to me if the battery advertised was compatible as I could not understand how it was connected. Een when I looked at the battery specification it did not describe how to use it. I eventually found a review which says it is attached at the back and uses two screws.I can only guess which screws so it is still not completely defined for me to decide to make this purchase without risk.Could be better and made clearer by showing the attachment to a printer?

New battery charged right up and is working as long as original used to. Very fast shipping from Amazon and good order notifications and tracking. Although this cost more than knock offs, for the fit, function and peace of mind this is a good purchase.

I received this camera as a gift three years ago and it has served me well. It is easy to use and takes high quality pictures. It tends not to want to take the picture unless the image is in focus, which I love. And I have never experienced an E18 error. I also love the video feature and have captured some great moments on it (works better with a larger memory card). My complaint is that it does take a long time to power on which can be annoying when youre trying to quickly snap a picture of something that is happening right at that moment. As time has gone on, the power on has taken longer than it did in the beginning, and it takes a REALLY long time (10 seconds-ish) to switch back from play mode to snap mode. And sometimes it will just shut itself down when I go from play to snap mode, even with a full battery.I am assuming that these faults have come with the aging of the camera and that my beloved first digital camera is slowly dying. It really has served me well for these 3 years but now it is starting to malfunction, and repairs are not cheap! (I dropped it while at the circus recently and the panoramic,b&w and video functions stopped working and I was told it would cost a minimum of $134 to fix it.)

Update- I emailed canon about the printer bar malfunctioning and everything I did to try and rectify it. The warranty was over by a couple weeks but the sent me a reconditioned printer and a prepaid return label to return my damaged one to them. The reconditioned one works fine. I give canon credit that they replaced it even though the warranty period was over. Not many companies would do that.I bought this since it was an all in one and rated well. It worked well for me (the ink doesn't last long though) but less than a month after warranty the machine will not pick up the paper, it crinkles it and then tells me it is jammed when nothing is jamming it. I emailed CS and they are sending me a refurbished unit to replace this one, so I hope the refurbished works, if not this will be the last canon I think. It is very large, takes up too much space on my desktop and the scanner doens't have a high enough resolution.I did love the quality of the printing though. I hated that if one inkjet cartridges was empty the printer would not print until it was replaced.

First off, if you're in the market for a printer, you can't go wrong with a Canon. Canon printers consistently beat out the competition in independent tests for print quality. Their items are elegant, well designed, and most importantly, ink is affordable. We all know the razor and blade scheme: sell the printer below cost and make it up with pricey cartridges. Canon, however, saves you a lot of money by including the print head with the printer and not on each cartridge. Because of this, genuine Canon cartridges can be had for around $12, while 3rd party cartridges, which many claim work just as well, can be found for as low as $2.If you've already decided on a Canon multifunction, lets see which model is right for you. Canon's current market list is as follows:MP130 - New model, and the most affordable yet. Copy/Print/Scan 18ppm black, 13ppm color 2 ink tanks No auto sheet feeder! Card slotsMP390 - Has a fax, About half the cost of the MP7xx's. Copy/Print/SCan/Fax 18ppm black, 12 ppm color 2 ink tanks card slotsMP750 - Older model - exactly the same as mp780 but no fax. Copy/Print/Scan 25ppm black, 17 ppm color 5 ink tanks Built in DuplexingMP760 - New Model - geared towards photo enthusiasts. Copy/Print/Scan + Special Photo Features 25ppm black, 17 ppm color 5 ink tanks No auto sheet feeder! Built in Duplexing *Unique photo features: 2.5 inch lcd screen Built in film adapter for 35mm slides or negatives can print directly from negatives Card slotsMP780 - Does it all except for the mp760 photo features. Copy/Print/Scan/Fax 25ppm black, 17 ppm color 5 ink tanks Built in DuplexingNow, let's look more closely at some key differences between these models:*Fax: The first thing you should do is decide if you need a fax or not. If you do, you should choose between the MP780 or the MP390. If not, don't rule those two out just yet, they may have have other features you can't live without.*Note: There is NO auto fax/telephone switching on these models if you wish to use the same line for faxes and voice calls.*Number of ink tanks: The next important thing you should look at is whether you want to be able to replace each color individually or not. The MP750, MP760 and MP780 all have 5 individual ink tanks (photo black, black, cyan, yellow, magenta), while the MP130 and MP390 have only 2 (black and tricolor). The cost of each cartridge is about the same, but you will waste some leftover ink by throwing out the MP130 or MP390's color cartridge when just one color runs out.*Photo printing: If you're planning on printing a lot of photos, you should probably go with an mp7xx. These have a superior print head, as well as the 5 separate ink tanks. The MP760 is especially noteable with all the features Canon has added specifically for photos. These come at a price however, as the MP760 does not share the auto sheet feeder of its MP750 and MP780 cousins, or the fax of the 780.*However - If you plan on printing directly from memory cards, beware! The mp750 and mp780 do not have card slots! The 2 cheaper models and the mp760 do.*Auto sheet feeder: The mp130 and mp760 do NOT have an auto sheet feeder. All 3 of the others do. An auto sheet feeder is very useful when doing a lot of scanning or faxing.*Duplexing: The mp7xx models each have built in duplexing.*Size: The mp7xx models weigh around 30 pounds and are quite big. The MP390 is a smaller, and weighs 18 pounds. The mp130 has a tiny footprint for a multifunction printer, and weighs 14 pounds. Some features that all of Canon's current MFPs share:*Copying: Each of these models has a copy function, and all have the same resolution (600x600 black, 1200x1200 color).*USB 2.0 connection*Pictbridge direct photo printing support*All 5 models are great looking and will complement almost any decor. My recommendations:If you want a great price on an excellent printer and don't need a fax: MP130If price is an issue but you still need a fax: MP390If you can afford an MP700 series and don't need a fax, card slots, or the MP760's photo features: MP750If you need its exclusive photo features (but no fax or auto sheet feeder): MP760If you can afford an MP700 series and need a fax (but no card slots and none of the MP760s photo features): MP780

I have always been fond of Canon products, but this printer is one of the better ones. I had purchased a HP all-in-one right before this one because I could get it at the local Wal-Mart. I returned it the next day the quality was so bad and came home and ordered this one. Best decision I could have made. The picture quality is so good that people I have shown them to couldn't tell they were done on a home printer and the print from negatives feature is a great bonus. I have been able to make my own prints from some old 35mm negatives that I had lost the pictures to and they came out terrific. They look just like the originals. So far the ink has lasted longer than I expected. I haven't had to change the ink cartridges since purchasing it and I have done quite a bit of printing. The cartridge prices are not bad if you purchase the bulk package from Amazon that comes with the whole set needed. I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone looking for a good all-in-one with exceptional photo print capabilities.

Makes me wonder how many of those 5-star reviews were early fakes by Canon reps when the product was first released.Buy something else - and not from Canon, companies need to suffer for their mistakes if we expect them to ever start caring.
