Great all-in-one solution. Easy to set up and use, scanner works very well. Printing is good quality, though obviously not as good as many laser printers. Would recommend for most people, other than those planning on printing vast amounts where a laser printer would be better.

Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Professional Photo Printer

Hi all,

OK, not used this printer yet but I thought I'd just review it as I go through the setup ect.

Box is well suited for the job and offers good protection of the printer all round. Straight out of the box the printer looks great, very heavy and of solid construction.

After removing all the packaging and protective bits and bobs I'm now ready to install the printer. Referring to the getting started guide and reading it through once, it all seems straight forward. Following the instructions step by step I've managed to power up the printer, fit the print head and install the ink cartridges. Roughly taking me 15 minutes.

Time now to install the software and drivers from the disk, all have installed successfully.
At this point the program asks me to do a print head alignment, this seems straight forward but I realise I don't know where to load or how to select the paper size!
Pressed the back button and the execute button to perform the alignment is greyed out. Hmm, maybe me or not don't know. Cancelled this, skip registering and filling out the survey thing.

Found out where to load the paper and now carrying out alignment and nozzle checks ect. Having to run a clean to get full print across the colours. That done and all now seems to be in working order.

Having browsed through the information on included with the CD I can say it seems really comprehensive and from what I've seen of Canons software and printer interface I can't wait to get working with it!!

Ink cartridges look small for such a large printer but looking at the construction of them there does seem to be more ink in them compared to Epson cartridges, only time will tell! :)

As there is so much to look at in the way of software that comes with the printer and the fact I have to get used to it, setting profiles ect it would be unfair to try and rate the print quality at this point! So far I am very pleased with it, here's hoping it isn't an ink guzzler like all my other Epson printers!!

Ok, printed a few and im happy with the results except for the auto correction which is OTT on the red/orange side. Canon have information about ink yields on their website.

Ink yield, which, on face value looks to be 10 times more than my other printer.

First off, the reason I wanted a new printer was because I was a freshman in college last year and realized the NEED for a printer. I had a simple HP Deskjet, but it could not handle my needs. I began looking for a new printer. I heard a lot of good things about HP printers and was a bit of a fanboy when it came to looking. However when going through the specs of their models, I wasn't feeling too hot about any of them. I decided to broaden my view.Looking at all brands, I was amazed to see that more people preferred Canon with HP a close second. I looked through their line of printers and this model the PIXMA MX882 seemed to be perfect for me.Look:The printer is very sleek. It's a shiny, gloss black with a matte finish along the sloped rim at the top. The only downside to this is the attraction of dusk, hair and the fingerprints. Even then those aren't enough to take away from the beauty of this printer. It features a 3 inch color display; not a touch screen. I found the interface to be quite intuitive and easy to navigate through. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the buttons light up as you need them, eliminating visual "clutter". The design of the printer is very nice. There are many features to access such as the pop out ADF, the flatbed scanner, the inside containing ink replacement, the rear paper feeder, & the memory card ports which are all WELL concealed. Looking at the printer looks simple, but all these features are there.Performance:Start up time typically was about 3 seconds and it stopped making noise at about 8 seconds which is very fast. The printer emits a slightly loud noise within the first 3 seconds, but after that its internal parts are quiet. Printing is a medium level of loudness and takes about an average amount of time to print. Printing double sided documents took longer as expected, just so you know (but not much).Features:I love the wifi feature! Setting it up was easy as pie. Just use the onscreen menu on the printer to connect to your network and then go to the desired computer and let the install CD do the rest. No delay times on wifi. I was surprised to see how quickly from the moment I clicked print to the printer printing my document. I was also very impressed by the ADF on top which is used to copy or scan up to 35 pages in various modes including: 1 sided to 1 sided, 1 sided to 2 sided and 2 sided to 2 sided. Another thing I enjoyed was the use of templates. Say your out of paper and you need lined paper or graph paper, just go to the templates and print your own paper out.Printing:I was happy with the print jobs. They were about on par with other printers I've seen, nothing too special unless you want to print in high quality all the time. A little thing I liked was when a print job is sent to the printer and the door is still closed, it will automatically open; however it will not retract once complete. Paper tray holds a decent amount of paper and it located at the bottom. Lastly, the photo quality blew me away the most. The printer came with five free glossy photos, so I tried it out anyway. I took some shots from my camera, inserted the SD card right into the printer, found a photo i liked, and printed it. The quality looked comparable to what youd expect at walmart to get your photos done. Im dead serious it looked damn good and afterwards I checked the ink levels which were still good, not even a dent.Overall I am very satisfied with this printer. Although there are some minor dislikes over the printer, the pros outweigh the cons. The heavy duty tank of a printer is solid; none of the parts feel "cheap" like those stupid Brother printers. Don't ever buy a Brother printer lol I swear they SUCK. Anyways no problems so far. I have been very impressed with the printer and all of its features. It would suite any user from the basic home use to the small office/business user without any doubt. I highly recommend this printer. You will not realize the world of a difference a multifunction printer like this can make in your life until you experience it firsthand. Trust me.

Takes quite a while to start printing due to lots of head priming etc., but once it starts the printout is crisp, clear and sharp.

It seemed reluctant to set wireless up, but just connecting via USB did the trick. The rest of the setup went smoothly.

Good printer. It prints well. The wireless connection works seemlessly. Set up is painless even for someone not too technically minded like me. The software that came with it is OK. Scans easily, and you can merge the pages together into one pdf document if you wish to. Pictures and photo printing are clear enough for homework or personal use, but not as good as professional photos naturally.

Only just bought this printer but I am pleased with the end product so far (early days)
I was aware from my research that this printer is a little slow getting from print command to start print and indeed it is, but then I am in no rush.
Printing speed is not F1 but the quality is excellent. If you want speed printing and are not bothered about the quality then you can choose fast print in the print quality box.

I received this printer so quickly and well within the estimated time.
I am in my 60s and found the instructions so easy to follow.
The instructions come with illustrations too which makes it a lot easier to follow.
I have connected it up via wire free connection and it works like a dream.
I am really pleased with the quality of the print, especially on the photo's.
I wanted a printer which printed good quality photo's and this is exactly what this machine does.
I also do a lot of hand crafted cards so ideal for my needs.
The print is very sharp too.
I would recommend wholeheartedly.
I cannot express enough how pleased I am with this printer.

Bought printer for its wifi option and it's rubbish. After replacing my wifi router it took days of reinstalling software to get the thing connected again. More importantly, apparently the printer needs 70% signal strength on the wifi, otherwise it reports as offline.
Even on the same floor, a few meters away from the router, I only get 56% so I still need to move the laptop and plug it into the printer, defeating the purpose of getting this printer in the first place.

On top of that it's noisy, it shakes the table it's on, and it doesn't catch the paper coming out so you end up collecting it from the floor if you don't catch each sheet when it's printed.

My iP7600 developed a fault and I needed a printer which can print on DVD / CD disks. Not many of these around but up until now, the iP7250 is giving me excellent results.
WiFi setup is fairly straight forward and is the default connectivity option.
Here's hoping it gives me trouble free service.

I'm typing this review after my MP560 has decided that today it doesn't want to make photocopies. No reason given, it just doesn't want to do it. I'm beginning to think the "MP" in MP560 stands for "Might Print." (If so, I'd suggest to Canon that "MPMN" would be more accurate: Might Print, Might Not.) Some days it hops right to it. Other days it takes up to three minutes of enigmatic clunking and whirring before it deigns to copy one page. And today, as it sometimes does, it decides that it just doesn't want to be a printer. Pushing the "start" button on my MP560 is similar to pulling a lever on a slot machine: I never know what's going to happen. I suppose the upside of this is that I'll never waste money on a trip to Vegas, because my printer gives me all the gambling excitement I'll ever want.If you want an ontologically tormented printer that can't decide what it wants to be, then this is the printer for you. Me, I'd like a printer that happily embraces its function and performs it without throwing geeky temper tantrums.On top of this, the MP560 suffers from needlessly bloated software, performing inscrutable functions that are annoyingly non-intuitive. One example: scanning a document is needlessly complex, and the MP560 saves every scan in a very slow program where I've yet to figure out how to delete scans I no longer want. I'm sure it's possible to delete them. All I need to do is wade through the Russian novel of an owner's manual to find out how. To me, this is an example of software geeks gone wild, cramming arcane functions into what should be a simple product. Note to software designers: most people don't want to devote a significant portion of their lives to figuring out how to work a printer. We want to print, copy, and scan with a minimum of fuss.This printer's deficiencies even extend to minor details. For example, the blank paper holding tray slides neatly into the base of the printer. Is the front of the tray transparent, so you can see how much paper is left? Of course not. It's black opaque plastic, so the only way to know if there's any paper in the holding tray is to slide it out and look. One would think that making a transparent tray would be obvious to any competent design team. But it wasn't obvious to the MP560's designers. --January 14, 2011 Update--Today my MP560 is refusing to scan a document until I replace an empty cyan ink tank. Mind you, I'm not trying to print anything. I just want to scan a document. Really? Canon, are you still running this old scam, forcing customers to buy an ink cartridge even when they're doing something that has nothing to do with printing? Unbelievable. If anyone wants a free Canon MP560, they can find mine at the curb in front of my home on the next trash pickup day. Although I've had this printer only one year, I want this piece of junk out of my life. --Another Update--Wait, this gets better. After writing the above, I decided to give this printer one more chance. I bought the cyan ink cartridge that the printer said was empty. Installed the cartridge, and then tried to make a black and white copy for a student during a lesson. First my student and I waited a full three minutes while MP560 deliberated mysteriously. Then it announced that the magenta cartridge was empty. It hadn't said anything about this when it told me the cyan cartridge was empty. And of course it refused to make a black and white copy. --And Yet Another Update--By this time, I have a perverse curiousity in just how bad this printer can be. So I bought the magenta cartridge and installed it. Then I tried to make a scan. Temporaily satisfied that it has no more empty cartridges, my MP560 is now refusing to scan a document. I push all the correct buttons (the same ones I've done in the past), the printer displays "processing" on its video display, then it tells me to press the "Color" button, which I already did. So I press it again. Again I get the "processing" display, then it again tells me to press the "Color button." And if I do it again? Same result. Will MP 560 do a scan for me? Not today. Apparently it now prefers to see how many times I'll push the same button hoping for a different result.Dear Canon: I say this with deepest sincerity. You've managed to design and build a printer that's guaranteed to drive its owner crazy. Indeed, I'm in awe of what you've accomplished with the MP560. Really. I consider myself a reasonably patient man. But your product has driven me to seriously consider smashing it with a sledgehammer. If this was your design team's intent, then congratulations on a job well done. --Workaround to keep printing when a color cartridge is empty--Hold the "Color" and "Stop" buttons down simultaneously until the orange light goes out. Then you might be able to make a black & white print or do a scan. (Of course, if the black ink cartridge is empty, you won't be able to print a black & white page.) Great printer as my previous Canon! Separate trays for A4 sheets and 10*15 photo paper which avoids to replace paper each time you want to print diferente things. You can have both trays charged at the same time. Love it!

Sometimes it's a little slow to respond, but other times it's lightning fast. A great printer with the added bonus of being able to print directly onto a CD/DVD, a feature which previously only Epson printers had.

Very pleased with Cannon PIXMA iP7250 Colour inkjet Printer, pity my old Cannon PIXMA iP3600 Catrtridges do not fit the iP7250. It would be a lot better if Cannon standardised their Cartridges and brought down the exorbitant cost of them, compared to similar replacement cartridges.

I purchased two of these printers after reading the reviews, one for me and one for my daughter. Some of the reviews mentioned the printer wouldn't recognise the router, or the command from the pc, I thought maybe these people hadn't set it up correctly. I set mine up with no problems at all, and it printed fine for a couple of weeks or so, then all of a sudden it started saying it was offline when it obviously was, then right out of the blue it would start printing. My daughters printer is actually worse as she has to use hers with the wi fi connection only, whereas I have the usb lead connected as well. It sometimes prints fine but on other occasions just won't recognise the router, I've found if you mess around switching the machine off then back on it will fire up and start printing, not always though. The bottom line is, if you depend on a printer to print documents straight away when you need them, definately don't buy this printer.

I would definitely recommend this printer to everyone as it has helped me a lot. I had it connected to my desktop originally, but when my desktop computer went kaput, I replaced it with a laptop and installed it differently. For my laptop I used it's WI-FI and do not have to connect it to the laptop with a USB cable. This enables me to use it from anywhere in my home.

After having my last Canon printer for so many years and it working without a hitch, I decided to put my faith in Canon again and treat myself to a modern replacement. I previously had the MP540 and wish I'd just stuck with it or chosen a different brand now. The software for this printer is bloated and, after installing it and seeing their widget/menu cluttering my desktop, I was immediately uninstalling it. As other reviewers have said, it's not truly wireless either. I had the perfect space for this beneath my TV in the lounge, but if you want to scan or run any diagnostics it must be connected with the USB cable. So what's the point really? As I write this now, it's set up in exactly the same place as my old non-wireless printer. I can't imagine anyone moving it backwards and forwards between rooms depending on what they're using it for. Also, I'm trying to load 13cm x 18cm Canon photo paper and for the life of me wiggling it around in the tray, the printer won't pick it up. It keeps telling me the trays empty, over and over. As if these niggles aren't enough it generally just feels cheaper with less build quality. Considering my old printer was similar price range it seems 4 or 5 years advancement has done nothing. I don't feel any benefit in having upgraded to a newer model.

Bought this and love it, simple to set up so long as you follow instructions. We don't have a computer at all and only have iPad it supports air print so bought it with fingers crossed that it would work with out a computer. It found our router with the wifi and I was printing in seconds. The only thing it doesn't mention is that the AirPrint gives no option for altering the picture size so we found the pixma app and that allows you to use more of the features.
Quality is not bad at all for the price interested to try it with photo paper.
Image quality on scanning seems fine as well.
To say that it's the cheapest printer I found that supports wifi AirPrint I am very impressed.

This works OK but it's not particularly sophisticated. I sat there the other day waiting for several minutes while it groaned and whirred and took its time just to print a single page of A4. The main black ink cartridge doesn't last long either and I had trouble getting the wireless printing to work. It's a bulky ugly thing but Ok for the price I guess

Excellent printer,personally I think it prints every bit as good as a Lab printer.
Setting up was not a problem so long as you follow the comprehensive instructions.
I have printed from my iPad2 without any problems. My seven year old granddaughter was amazed when she pressed the print button downstairs and went upstairs to find fer photograph was ready.
The software that comes with the printer is OK but I prefer Photoshop purely on the basis of use.
I would certainly recommend this printer for its' simplicity,ease of use and cost.

The product was delivered in good time and was complete.
The frustration starts when you seek to connect the printer up.
As the printer is connected to the base PC via USB and the disc inserted into the PC, both the Canon Installation window and the PC installation window (5 year old DEC) open. On the assumption that the custom Canon utility takes preference, I initiated the Canon routines (3 times). The software loaded fine, but at the end, the PC wasn't recognising the new printer. In frustration I activated the PCs own installation routine, and hey bingo, the PC completed the installation, and registered the printer with the router (Belkin), and all functions are working, including the remote scanning via an app on my iPad. Moral. Don't assume that the printer installation routines are better than the PCs own. They may be more colourful and are printer specific, but maybe the PC knows best.

Bought as replacement for an iP4600 (which replaced an i990). So I've run Canon A4 printers for at least 10 years. But this new iP7250 is a poor printer. First, it very frequently stops 1/2 way through a job, and at least 25% of those times it aborts; which is a damn nuisance if you're printing on the reverse side of page. Second, it's a bottom feed device (Canon call it cassette), which is MUCH slower and clunkier than a top feed; the only advantage I can see is that printers could be stacked -- but how many people wish to do that? Third the location of the cassette seems very floppy and imprecise. Fourth, putting in and taking out from the cassette is slow, cumbersome & very tedious. It's a pity I didn't realise it had no top feed, otherwise I wouldn't have chosen it.
So, poor design, and poor software. My previous 2 Canons were very much better. Why has Canon gone backwards??

I've recently replaced another wireless printer (from a different manufacturer). This Canon is brilliant and 'does what it says on the can', including duplex printing and printing CDs or DVDs.

Wireless was easy to set up (I have both Mac and PC) and the wireless range excellent - the printer sits two floors above the wireless router.

Purchase price on the cheap side, meaning usually the manufacturer makes some back on the ink. It's common and understandable, but I was really surprised to get such good printing quality for such a low price.

Well recommended.

I had delayed replacing my older dysfunctional Canon Pixma because I had a stockpile of ink I didn't want to waste. But I really needed a new inkjet for an art project on Vellum paper. I chose this printer based on reviews, reputation (I am big Canon fan), need and the $200 rebate.After setting up (and I admit that it took me awhile to realize I was loading paper from the back feeder rather than the main one), I printed a photo on the Pro Luster paper they sent with the printer. The photo was not particularly sharp or well framed but it had sentimental value. The printed copy, however, was spectacular - much better than it appeared on my 27" imac.Then I tackled the vellum printing. I printed a two page PDF document that had 16 photos per page on Strathmore Translucent Vellum pack of 20. Ideally the printer would have a transparency or vellum setting but the PRO-100 has neither. I set the paper type to Plain and selected the fastest print to lay down the least amount of ink. The output was accurate but too light for my needs. I tried it again and set the speed for standard but this laid too much ink in places. Ultimately I'll have to use my laser printer (good color but ink starts flaking after awhile) and hope that spraying with Krylon Fixative Spray will help set the ink.This printer, unlike 100+ other Canon printers, does not duplex. Not a criticism; just an observation. (Correction - you can duplex with it by manually feeding it through for the second side.)Incidentally this is one big printer, on the order of my HP1 laser printer from 23 years ago.If you want to improve your printing expertise, I highly recommend the online training course "Inkjet Printing for Photographers with Ben Long" at lynda dot com. I take about 10 hours a month of software training there and this was the most useful course I have taken in years.

This printer is big and 'very' heavy. It's perfect as a work-group printer for an office. Output quality is good and it's fast, even with graphics. My only concern is the cost of cartridges, which is truly extortionate. No wonder people have the habit now of buying new printers instead of replacement toner!

Manufacturers and suppliers need to wise-up and be more environmentally friendly, by reducing toner costs to prevent such behavior.

And the cost of a set of toner?

Everything about the printer itself is perfect, for only 3 colours and black it works as well as my old Epson with 6 inks. Normal printing is also good but the software for CD printing would do better in a pre-school class! If you want to print boring CD great! - boring looking that is. If you want to do your own thing and be artistic and get the same results as you have been used to then you have to find a program to do it-if you do let me know.
