I'll not say much other than everyone who is giving these 4 & 5 stars must have VERY low expectations. I realize these are cheap speakers, but most the free speakers I've had over the years with computer I've bought are better than these.- Tinney: like a drain pipe- NO bass: yes there is a Bass response, similar to thumping on a scratchy balloon.These are fine for very low volume use.

I bought these to hook up to my Sirius Stiletto because I did`nt wantto spend the money for a matching Sirius boombox, I was amazed that aspeaker system under $20 had the quality of sound of these with a decent bass and smooth highs. I would strongly recommend these to anyone whois looking for a system under $50

I own both the Logitech Z5300, and Z5500. They rock. But the power and clarity of the Z5500 is head and shoulders above the Z5300. If you are in the market for a great set of speakers, look no farther than the Logitech Z5500, it will perform like no other. I can not crank it up past about the half way mark, as it gets too loud, but even at that level it still sounds great. I have had several people over and it is unanimous that the Z5500 is the best sounding computer speakers any of us have heard. I am looking for a great deal to buy a second set!

This is my second set of Logitech speakers and I have nothing but good things to say about them. For the price (after shipping I paid $200) they are the bang for the buck. Sure they may not be as powerful as a higher quality speaker system, but I think they sound great. I first tired it out with Behind Enemy Lines during the missile/jet scene and was super impressed!

Bought my son the Z-5450 for Christmas - the speakers were DOA. Instead of the costly expense of shipping the whole set back to the retailer, I called Logitech and was assured a replacement would be sent within 2 weeksTwo weeks later i called back and was told they were on back order and would arrive the following week.Three weeks later I called back and was told they were coming from China and were late but would arrive any day.Five weeks later i called back and was told they weren't even making the 5450 anymore and that they knew this a few days after my previous call yet no one contacted me, so i agreed to have them ship the 5500 to me as a replacement, which I was told would arrive within two weeks. The only other alternative was a refund which I was told would take 60 more days to process.Four weeks later I called and was told the 5500's were on back order and that I was one of 4000 customers waiting on a 5500 to replace a failed one. I suggested that should tell them something about their product right there. It should definitely tell the consumer something, don't you think?Never had such a horrible experience with a company in my life. The last guy I talked to was Jason who said he was in charge of customer service and that no one else would talk to me about my problem from "corporate". If I called their number, he assured me they would just refer me back to him. He seemed almost pleased with that. What Jason and Logitech apparently don't understand is that for every customer who gets jerked around, another 20 will disappear through poor word of mouth.My experience over the last three months with Logitech convinces me that I will never buy another Logitech product. Do so at your own peril. If you are lucky, it will work. Good for you, but if you have problems with it, you will never get satisfaction. Trust me.

I bought these as a replacement for my aging Cambridge soundworks FPS 2000 4.1 surround speakers.They were very easy to set up, thats a plus.the wired remote is easy to see and use.music sounded ok.gaming... I play a lot of WoW and other games, and want the sound to make me feel like I am there... these speakers didn't do it. they distorted easily, they sounded flat and tinny... was not impressed. my 10 year old speakers sound better.These speakers are decent for music, and basic day to day computer audio, but if you want something for gaming that will give you a rich sound and make you feel part of the game, these aren't for you.

Overall a good speaker, but for the $[...] I can't tell. (I got a $[...]) rebate.Good speakers as long as you keep the volume under 70-75% of its capability after that the sounds is DISTORTED.Anyone looking for really high decibel stuff keep away.

I have thousands of songs on my computer and I use it as a stereo just as much as anything else. I was looking for speakers that would amplify the sound when I was in another room and install easily. I did a lot of research and ultimately chose these because of other positive reviews, price, USB connectability, and the handy carrying case (which fits inside my laptop case nicely!). Like other reviewers have said, it's not concert quality sound, but that's not what I was after. I can now move about my apartment and still hear my tunes. These speakers are super easy to install--just plug & play with a minimum number of extra cords on my desk. I also like that the speakers themselves have buttons to mute, stop or skip to a new song. For the money spent, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Alright let me break these speakers down for you. If you enjoy listening to music and gaming occasionally, you cannot beat this deal. Don't let these speakers fool you. They pack a punch! I have the big brother 5500 series from Logitech and when comparing them pound for pound, they sound almost as good. (Emphasis on the pound for pound)These are inexpensive speakers that when combining them with a Creative SB card, will do your ears justice. Ratings are going to be a little bias. This is a good buy for a starter surround sound system. I still listen to mine and enjoy every minute of the time.Hope this helps!S.Stevens SLC, UT

I actually needed a better sounding system in order to properly hear the studio mixes my musician friends were sending. Yes, I could still opt for some studio monitors, but this system is a true stereo system allowing me to hear the songs as anyone else would through a decent system. No distortion,good clarity of highs and lows, and no need for more power......just the right fit.

A fervent music fan (opera, orchestral, Broadway, big band, jazz), I never thought I'd see the day when I'd listen to most of my music on the computer, but that day recently arrived.So, I decided it was time to think beyond the lackluster speakers embedded in my monitor, and I shopped around. Having previously bought the Logitech iPod charger/player, which I found surprisingly good, I was predisposed to the brand. Still, I was unsure about getting these speakers after reading some of the less-positive reviews on this page.I'm glad to say my fears proved unfounded. You just can't beat the sound of these for the price. They are perhaps just a tiny bit short on both the high and low ends of the sound spectrum, but other than that nit, they provide very satisfying sound. I haven't regretted my purchase for one minute.

I very much looked forward to receiving my Logitech x230 2.1 speaker system for my TV, but when I hooked it up, it did not work. There was something rattling in the woofer box. To top that, my son noticed that the Logitech brand which I ordered appeared to be a cheap knock off called LogiCool. What a bait and switch from the Amazon reseller GearXS. I tried to correspond with them to get them to take it back and pay for the shipping to me, but they never responded. I felt that the substitution of the brand that I bought with a cheap piece of plastic that didn't work was poor business. I will NEVER buy from them and would recommend that they be avoided due to their terrible service and desire to swindle customers.

Got these for a great price. Using them with my new 40" 1080p and Blu Ray Media Center I built. Using both the Digital and Optical with no issues. Sound is good, switching sources is fast, and the remote is very handy as I keep the receiver unit above the main display area. Warning - The Sub-Woofer is HUGE! These babies are the truth i was searching for decent speakers (creative's 7.1 speakers)but creative stopped making the decoder and it's hard to find and klipsch ultra promedia's are garbage due to the amp so logitech has made a great product (has built in decoder) and i never knew these and the others have been out for a while (because i never was souped to have surround sound as much as now) the digital,dts,and stereo x2 sound is enough to lock anyone to buy these especially once i found a way to play surround during regular tv programs with a cord i had from my sony cfd-g70 gamexpand boombox without having to go to radioshack or something i could go on but i have to finish watching the nets come back on the bobcats in beautiful z-5500 (the name is even dope)surround sound all this and i only paid 219.00 on tigerdirect.com through amazon.

I just got these speakers, I was excited to try them out after all the good reviews. No matter what genre of music I listened to and how much I adjusted the equalizer in windows media player, the bass was just completely overwhelming everything else, had a distorted sound, and gave me a huge headache. The overall sound quality is poor, I will be sending these back tomorrow!

Tired of that tinny sound from your computer, but work in an office where you can't have a huge subwoofer? If so this is a perfect set of speakers for you. The speakers are compact and attractive, and look great on my desk, plus the subsoofer is small enough to tuck nicely underneath. The result: a nice, rich sound for music, videos, conferences, etc., without disturbing or "booming out" the neighboring offices. Probably a little too much boom for a cubicle, and not enough for home ... but I find the perfect for work.

I have a analog/digital TV receiver and video converter for my Mac computer so I can watch TV on my computer. I bought this system so I could watch my TV with surround sound. I wasn't sure what kind of quality I would get out of computer speaker. I was so surprised and so was my husband!! They cost much less than regular surround sound systems and I can't tell the difference!! Logitech you are awesome for creating such a wonderful system for computers! Amazon you are wonderful for selling it at such a great price! Thank You!!!

But at the end of the day, I'm pretty satisfied with these set of speakers.The first thing I did when I got the Logitech x540s was to watch a DVD with my living room LCD tv. Boy, I was not disappointed. The sounds were crisp, the bass was great, gunfire and explosions sounded realistic, and there was nothing I could compain about.I paid 75 for these speakers, which seems great for 5 speakers and one subwoofer, but the satelites still does not satisfy me fully. If you played music and put your ear next to one of the satelite speakers, it sounded like the speakers of your monitor. But collectively, all 5 speakers put you in a great, relaxing environment.Overall, I fulfilled my need of getting an affordable speaker set. The speaker that you could clip onto a monitor is pretty convienent. And the subwoofer is awesome!

This unit replaces an ancient Yamaha computer 2-speaker system. Needless to say, the sound quality of the Logitech is much better. I am extremely pleased with the quality of the sound and the ease of setting up the system.The only criticism I have is that the length of the wire between the subwoofer and the control unit is not very long. The shortness of this wire and the length of the speaker wires limited my choices in placing the units in my computer room.

i have a pair of 7 year old altec-lansings which came as original equipment with my compaq presario. i had hoped to be able to move up a bit in speaker quality, but it wasn't to be. i found the old set to have a slightly sweeter quality across the range of material that i use them with. i passed the logitechs on to a grandson who happened to have a need for a pair of self-powered speakers. they are better than nothing especially for gaming types.

I am going to end up returning these (or selling them), but they arn't bad stricktly as PC speakers. Music is ok, but nothing to write home about. Movies and games are definetly better compared to music. The subwoofer is not as impressive either physically or sonically as most will say. For one thing, a slight tap on the side causes a very obvious RING. Now, maybe its the metal covering over the woofer, but this isn't good, besides that, it is very light, cheaply made, and probably underpowered. And for anyone saying this is as good as a $2000 or whatever component system. Get real!If you value features over pure sound quality, these arn't a bad buy, the "console" is a pretty cool concept. But sound quality with music leaves too much to be desired for me personally, especially for $250 and they arn't anything better than what I already had for music. (except more bass)

I think this must be a great system, but I won't know for sure. I had placed it in my cart, but continued to shop. Imagine my suprise when checking 15 min. later, discovered that Amazon had removed it from cart, leaving message that it was no longer available. Upon calling, was told it was available from another source, but with higher price and no rebate. That was yesterday.You can imagine my thoughts today, on Amazon, just one day later .... when what to my wandering eyes did appear, but the said very same system -much higher, oh dear!!!I leave you to draw your own conclusion.....

These are the best speakers that I have ever owned!!!!!! for the price, there is nothing that BOSE can put out that can touch the z5500.Pros: power, clarity, loudness, design and just overall the best preforming speakers that I have ever owned.Cons: Smells bad when sub woofer is being pumped to the max and the heat sync on the back will also get very hot, possibly causing damage to the amp. my solution was that I bought a little cheap $10 fan from target and it keeps the amp at room temperature.

These speakers really do sound great, but they are fatally flawed. The wireless rear speakers disrupt other wireless hardware. My Logitech MX Revolution wireless mouse is impossible to use when these speakers are on, and I've heard that they will disrupt wireless Internet, cell phones, etc. as well, though I can't confirm that from personal experience.The power cords on the "wireless" rear speakers are also quite fat and long. I had to wrap them around the base of the speakers to hide them, and they still looked unattractive crawling up to a wall outlet. Don't waste outlet space with these fatties, get wired speakers - you have to run long wires, but they can more easily be concealed than these.I was taken in by the good reviews, but the z-5450 is really not the best option you have. Buy the z-5500 if you were seriously looking at these speakers. The z-5500's have wired rear speakers, so no wireless disruption, you can buy longer wire and conceal it, and the reviews for sound are even better than the z-5450s. I got rid of my 5450s in favor of the 5500s.

I purchased these speakers thinking they will be adequate for my needs. I have found them to be Terrific in both sound quality and in the way they look. They add a modern feel and look to my home office, and sound great. Produces a very nice sound with good base and are very good for listening to music, watching movies or playing games.Well worth the money!

These speakers sound so amazing. Dont let the size in the picture fool you. These speakers are very well built and are quite large compared to other computer speakers. You will really here these speakers at there best when you are watching HD movies or playing games in Dobly Digital. The sound quality is crisp with no distortion as you turn the volume up.

I have been using my Logitech Z-5500 5.1 system with a stereo cable. Had no idea my laptop had an optical out and ordered a digital optical cable just plugged in and WOOW PEOPLE! This is UNBELIAVABLE my ears having orgasms every second (not literally). I cant believe there is such a quality and performance difference between stereo and digital output. 10/10 Logitech, well done.Only disadvantage I can think of is that the Subwoffer is HUGE, and i travel a lot so im gonna have to sell my Z-5500 :( when i relocate but definetly buy a new one at my next destination :).

these speakers are pretty good for the price. My one speaker broke and I needed a cheap replacement for the crackling of the old one that had fallen off my desk. It has a lot more bass than tremble but tolerable for the price.

I have had the X-530 5.1 speaker System for well over gosh 3 yrs I beleive, and I have to say that the X-530 is a really great speaker system.,. It does will on movies, even Blu-ray and the music is just fantastic to listen to. The set up is really easy expecailly if the built in sound system is color coded.. Even the instructions to set them up is really easy to follow. I would recommend this for anyone to get if they really want a great 5.1 sourround sound system.

I researched online for over a year before finally taking the plunge on these. My friend had them and really enjoyed them, and now that I have my own, I couldn't agree more. Hard hitting bass, clean crisp mids/highs...they work wonderfully with my LCD TV and PS3. Logitech produced some great all-around speakers for an amazing price. If you're on the fence with these, just do it! You'll be wondering what you've been waiting for.

These are perfect for the laptop owner who wants richer sound than his computer's internal speakers provide, but doesn't want, bulk batteries or another AC adapter. First off, don't expect concert hall quality sound. These are portable speakers, not fine audio reproduction instruments. The sound quality is adequate. Doesn't sound tinny. There isn't a lot of base. Second, for portability these are just plain great. the two speaker are of reasonable size. Not too big; not terribly small. An ingeniously designed phone plug serves as a stand so the speaker unit easily stands vertically. The unit connects through the USB port and installed without problems under Windows XP. There is a problem is you disconnect the speakers and reconnect them without booting. Windows XP doesn't recognize the reinsertion - you'll have to reboot. Volume is more than sufficient for low-noise environments. Not silent environments; just low-noise, say a mid-range motel room with a kind of loud window air-conditioning/heating unit. The pushbutton volume controls work well over a moderate range of steps. Finally, Logitech provides a very nice carrying case. In sum, these are a great pair of speakers for travelling laptop owners who want more audio than their laptop will provide, with the understanding that these speakers are not going to leave you feeling like you've just sat in Carnegie Hall or La Scala. The neatest part is that you don't need batteries or an AC adapter.Jerry

I grabbed these speakers while they were on a sale, I tell you, what an awesome deal. Ive been too disappointed in the past with other speakers, but these ones are great. They have great sound quality, and not to much bass. Good for movies on the computer, like transformers.... :)

I have been looking around for some desktop speakers and not thinking about spending too much money on it. I looked at many models on-line and also in the stores and finally I decided to buy this set. I like the design that it comes without a bulky power converter. At the price of $29 when I purchased it, it produces sound loud enough for my PC and it looks solid without the usual cheap plastic feel. I didn't give it a five star because its sound tends to be blur at extremely higher volume and at very deep base setting. Since I use real stereo equipment for listening to music, I wouldn't turn on the volume very high on this speakers anyway. But...let me tell you, I use this set of speakers to play a old Warcraft III game and it really sounds very well, loud, deep and stereo. For a set of desptop speakers, this will be my best choice for under $30.

The price was 212$ was the lowest price for this item than anywhere else, but shipping that cost everything. I dont have choice other than buying from Dell, where shipping is free 219+taxes=233$.I'm waiting for the item to arrive, but i'm sure i will be happy about my decission based on the reviews!

The bass on these speakers is annoyingly boomy on many songs (bluegrass and other acoustic music, I'm not talking Hip-Hop here) and there is no way to adjust it b/c there is no bass or tone control. Changing the equalizer settings in Windows Media Player helps some but does not solve the problem, and I use many other kinds of audio programs, not all of which have equalizers to adjust. You can't use them w/out the subwoofer because it supplies power to the speakers.

I was a little hesitant in buying these speakers due to the various people commenting that they didn't do music too well. Well they do, in fact, do music very well along with anything else I throw at them. Awesome set of speakers, especially if you can get them as cheap as they have them at Amazon. HIghly recommended.

I have these speakers on my computer at work and they are great. Easy access volumn control and headphone jack when you don't want to disturb your neighbors in the cubicle farm.Ordered on Monday and received them on Wednesday.Great price....Best bang for the buck...

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SEThe sound is great for the price, yes the bass is a bit much, but with the Sound Blaster controls you can do auto settings for what you are listening to and you are on your way! You can also do the setting manually if you prefer, either way the speakers sound great!

I have last years model on my computer at home. I suggest spending the extra money on this new model - you won't be disappointed. The sound quality is amazing. When my stepson opened it he was so excited - he was blown away that we'd bought it for him. He has been using our computer because he's a gamer and loves the quality - now he can play his games on HIS computer, and we can reclaim ours.Again, the sound quality is amazing - the unit ships quickly, and once you hear the difference between this and your "other" speakers, you won't go back. Now when I listen to music on my computer at work, or at friends houses who have plain old left and right speakers (or even built ins), I can't believe the difference. If I could rate this product 10 stars, I would - its that good.

These speakers are made to last. The sound is fantastic. I bought them because they are AC-powered and are perfect for using my laptop as a stereo on-the-go. They are on the heavy-side and bulky to pack, but they are terrific sounding! Even have a metal screen on the front that my cats can't mess with. I researched all kinds of speakers and these were in my price range and gave me what I wanted. I hope they do the same for you!

I had an old Logitech Speaker system that was nothing compared to this system. The picture really dosn't show how big the subwoofer is, it's huge! I actually had to turn down the bass. The surround sound sounds really good and all the options and the remote make really nice features. I am running this system off an X-Fi card but I am sure any sound card would sound just as good through these speakers.

These are kind of muddy sounding, but for $20 what did you want. I got what I expected for $20. If you want high end sound, look elsewhere. If you need speakers and you are cheap, these are spot on. These look pretty good, have a power button right on the front (not soft touch, but a real power button, so no power draw when you are not using them) and a headphone jack. I got what I was looking for and nothing more.

I think this was worth all the money I spent for the speakers because I'm a DJ too and the crisp sound makes me feel like I'm Djaying a function so anyone who wants to get these speakers or is thinking about getting them, I would if I were you...

As others have said, this system delivers awesome sound. I see these surround systems by bose etc. that cost like 2 or 3 g's and am baffled why someone would choose that over a unit like this. (guess if you've got it, flaunt it) but yeah, I almost feel like I'm in on some secret. I was testing them out the other day and I only had the volume up to about 35% and every room adjacent to mine was shaking. the line in for the ipod to the control hub was a great touch. I know having analog sound compared to optical/digital is like piss compared to champagne (just the vibe I get from audiophile people) but I was still mighty impressed. if you want a surround system not too taxing on your wallet go with this.

I really loved the sound on these, which was never "boxed-in" like I often get with speakers of this size and shape. Logitech continues to deliver high-quality peripherals.Fedora Linux setup on this thing wasn't instant but otherwise just too easy. I plugged it in, went to the Soundcard Detection program, changed my default soundcard to these tiny powerhouses, restarted my Amarok player, and blasted away.Beethoven Egmont Overture. Stravinsky The Rite of Spring. Shostakovich Symphony No 4. Radiohead selections from OK Computer. The Xenosaga Soundtrack. Pirates of the Carribean.Stellar performance from these speakers on every application I put it through. I could feel the bass through my keyboard without killing the speakers, though supposedly, adjusting the volume it so that you can shake the floor is not practical or even maybe possible. But you can hear them outside my door and it sounds just as good as my 5.1 Altec Lansing setup on my desktop minus the floor subwoofer.These are the perfect desktop replacement laptop speakers. If you want light, portable, easy-to-use and very decent-sounding speakers, these are great. However, as noted by others, beware of distortion at high volumes due to lack of power from the USB port.PROS: Easy-to-use USB interface, great sound, extremely light and portable, great carrying case.CONS: Won't shake your house...Not that you would be here if that was your goal, anyway.
