I picked these up for my desktop with the hope of just getting some reasonable sound, nothing loud, no pounding base. Unfortunately these speakers have a really tinny sound to them, just not good quality, I'm still seeking a good alternative.

Sound quality is poor compared to the same product i have had for over 5 years now. These speakers are slow to respond, sound tinny, and out of the blue the bass will come alive all on its own. Volume switch has to be cranked to the halfway point just to get a peep out of them. The item description doesn't say it but I suspect that these speakers have been poorly refurbished. And therefore really put a dim light on any other Logitech purchase I will make in the future. Because it seems they are getting to be more of a Wal-Mart made in China brand than the quality product of past purchases. My best advice find a different product, even if you have to spend more, you will be happier elsewhere.

I needed a pair of speakers for my laptop at work to listen to music. I obviously don't need speakers that are huge on thumpin' bass but just enough clarity that it's nice to listen to and don't distort at a certain volume. These are really, REALLY great for the price. Another great product from Logitech. These are really great quality and you'd never think that they were less than $20. Definitely great for work environment.

Not sure what people expect for $25. These speakers are great for the price. They easily fill a large room, and the sound is pretty clear. They aren't Bose, but if you want Bose you can pay 3-4 times as much. At this price point, these are unmatched.

i have my logitech Z-5500 THX for more than 3 yrs. now it never gave me a problem. i love its low bass specially when i watch movies on my pc. i know those who rate this as one star it's because of the missing mid range bass and tweeter. recently i purchased non powered 2 floor stand speakers sony SS-F5000 150 watts for only 135$ both speakers. i connected both speakers were the other two front speakers are connected it did'nt give me a problem quaility sound was heard. it has what the logitech is missing the mid range bass and tweeter now can i can enjoy my movies and club mix music. My 5.1 sound system is at par with the bose and boston sound system, at times i believed its better than the bose i sold to my friend. for the price , the quality of sound, easy to use, ergonomics i give 5 *****'s and this is the way how to appreciate the most out of the logitech Z-5500.

Ordered one and the speaker stopped working...sent it back, rec'd 2nd one same problem. Works for a few days and then useless! What a waste of money!!! You heard the saying Screw me once shame on you...screw me twice shame on me. Not ordering this brand again!

This speaker system recently replaced a Klipsch Promedia GMX 5.1 set that I've had for years. I thought my Klipsch set was good until it developed a bad hum, but I was wrong. The Z-5500's are in another league.The sound quality is amazing, the build quality is sturdy and the main controller is attractive and very easy to use. As another reviewer pointed out, this system could easily replace an audio receiver for a home theater on a budget.One thing that impressed me was the volume range. If you don't have neighbors you'll be just fine. These things are LOUD. I rarely dial my volume control beyond the quarter point and the clarity is brilliant whether you have them whisper soft or cranked to the "Boost" mode. I haven't turned my set all of the way up out of a small fear that my home would explode.There are a few Easter Eggs included in the set, one being the boost mode. Once you go past the maximum volume, you go into a series of boost modes. Another hidden surprise is the Second Skin mode. If you hold down Input, Effect, Settings and Mute for six seconds (in that order) when the system is on standby, you can activate it. It just provides a different menu design and more vivid colors for the bottom right button. It's a fun feature for a few minutes.I have nothing to complain about with the Z-5500's aside from the moderately ugly Logitech logo that adorns each speaker.Now for the downer for Mac users. While the optical connection that's include on Mac Pro's and even Mac Mini's will give you excellent audio output and connects just fine with these speakers, Mac's don't have native support for Dolby Surround or DTS. That means that the speakers will have to decode the signal -- which thankfully they do just fine. But if you expect the "DTS" letters to appear on the control receiver, it's not likely. Your system will be stuck between Dolby ProLogic II Music and Movie modes. You can also use stereo and stereo 2 of course. Regardless, you'll still get surround sound decoded by ProLogic II so don't get frustrated in trying to figure it out. You can however send a clean 96/24 signal to the system so unless you're an extreme audiophile, you're not going to notice. The trick to sending the 96/24 settings is opening up "Audio Midi Setup" in your utilities and changing the settings for the digital signal to 96/24.Now, Mac users smarter than me can and probably have figured out how to activate DTS and Dolby on these speakers but it's not easy. I had it activated for a bit on a DTS DVD through Plex and supposedly you can do it using VLC but that's just too much troubleshooting for most folks. I gave up when I realized that the sound is already amazing and I'm wasting time trying to get some letters to appear on the control pod. Silly, I know.I would recommend the Z-5500's to anyone who appreciates excellent sound in music and movies. I'm not a gamer but I'm sure it would provide a rich gaming experience if arranged correctly. And as for the price, I think it's a heck of a deal.Finally, do yourself a favor and pick of a spool of decent speaker wire. Those who complain about the cables being too long or too short should splice them to fit and that's easiest with a nice fresh spool. Save the stock wires with the box to eBay down the road when Logitech releases a better set -- which I doubt will be anytime soon.

I just received my Z-5500 speaker system on Thursday and wanted to give my first impressions. It may be a little too soon but if my impression changes over time I wanted an initial record.The box arrived by UPS two days after my order, one day after it was shipped. I think it came from PA so it wasn't a long trip. The large box arrived without external damage though it looked re-taped. Inside, the packaging seemed to be intact so I don't think this was a return.I brought the heavy box upstairs and started the hookup. The most difficult part was figuring out what connections to make to my sound card. I have an optical cable on the way - I hope it is the right one. The controller says Effect: 6 Ch Direct 96/24 so I think it is the best connection I can make until the optical cable arrives. The computer is a Dell XPS-410. I didn't realize the XPS-410's sound card supports 7.1. The connections I made to the Dell are: Logitech FRONT to DELL line-out/headphone. Use the (green) line-out connector to attach headphones and most speakers with integrated amplifiers. Logitech REAR to Dell surround sound connector. Use the (black) surround sound connector to attach multichannel-capable speakers. Logitech CENTER/SUB to Dell center/subwoofer LFE connector. Use the (orange) center/subwoofer connector to attach a center speaker or single subwoofer. NOTE: The LFE (Low Frequency Effects) Audio channel, found in digital surround sound audio schemes, carries only low frequency information of 80 Hz and below. The LFE channel drives a subwoofer to provide extemely low bass extension.The switch on the back of the controller is set to 6 CH. DIRECT. The controller says: Input: Direct 96--24 Effect: 6 Ch DirectI think this is the correct setup but once the optical cable arrives I shouldn't need to be concerned about it.For the first couple of days I used the speakers just for music. I have a pretty good collection of MP3s recorded at 256 Kbps (Amazon) and 320 Kbps (recorded from CDs). Today I'm watching some DVDs I've recorded onto my hard drive. I'm not sure what format the audio is (simple stereo, Dolby, etc.).Music: I think my recordings are pretty high quality. Until now I've been using earphones (Shure) and the sound has been great. The sound from the speakers is better than I could have hoped for. While these are fairly expensive computer speakers, they certainly don't cost the same as high quality stereo speakers so I wasn't sure what to expect from them. The bass is punchy but balances well with the the rest of the music. At higher levels, I have to back off the bass a little so the house doesn't thump so much. I can get much more audio out of these speakers than I can ever use in this house. Bottom-line... I'm extreemly pleased with how these speakers sound for the music I listen to (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Nickelback, Nine Inch Nails).Movies: I can't remember the audio settings I selected when I did my recording but I assume it wasn't the highest quality settings. It is probably all stereo. Because of this, I can't really comment on how surround sound sounds. Besides, my current speaker setup is much less than optimal. However, the sound quality is pleasant to listen to. The voices are crisp. I'm watching "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" right now. There's a lot of bass in the background music but it doesn't overpower the rest of the audio. Bottom-line: Without an optimal setup I'm quite pleased with the performance of these speakers.The speaker components appear well built. The controller is a lot bigger than I expected. Something else I'm impressed with is the fact the remote controller controls every function of the speakers with the addition of a "Test" function. I'm not much into plastic but I guess that's the way computer components are built today. I miss the look of my old Cerwin Vega AT-12's or Bose 901's. Fortunately, I'm not missing the sound from those speakers.I've read some of the other reviews, the forums and the FAQ on the Logitech site. I'm aware that these speaker have (or had) a tendency to pop. Logitech seem to have a program to replace those popping speakers for free (see their FAQ). These speakers don't show signs of popping yet. I also understand that after two years some of these speakers have failed. I don't think I push speakers to their limits so I don't expect this to be a problem. But, considering their relatively low price compared to what I was used to paying for speakers, I don't think I would be too disappointed with 2 good years of service.After a few months, I may update this early review but I suspect my impressions won't change too much. I'm very pleased with the quality of the speakers and service from Amazon.

I really thought these speakers would enhance the sound quality of my Sony Vaio. While the sound is marginally louder, it is definitely not loud enough (eg. kitchen exhaust on). The quality of sound, installation and portability of the product is good, but I get way more volume from $2 knock off speakers. Also every time I need to switch to laptop speakers I have to unplug this and reload the video again, which is a pain.

My roommates and I were looking for a pair of speakers to attach to an old iMac I bought for an iTunes server and also to plug into our older CRT TV for movie watching, etc. We looked around a lot and read some reviews and decided that a 2.1 system wasn't worth it, and we'd be happy with a 2.0 system.We were! These speakers have turned out great. I like that they have separated membranes to help differentiate frequencies. They are a great compromise in size and quality for the price, I really don't think you can beat it. It has enough bass punch to get the point across, but it's not going to fill a large room for a party. In terms of volume, my room is next to the living room with the tv and sometimes it is too loud over in my room, so it can definitely fill an average living room and then some.A great feature is the headphones out and aux in right on the front of one of the speakers.Only bad thing to note is that upon opening ours had a dent in the speaker cover, but there was no damage on the box or packaging so it must have come from factory.

I've been using this nifty little speaker gadget for a little over two months now, and have been very happy with it.It's a compact gadget that clips right on to your laptop screen, and has power and volume control buttons on one side, and a USB port and a 3.5 mm jack (to connect to external music players) on the other side. It comes with an 18 inch long USB cable, and a small carrying case that can house the gadget and the included USB cable. The gadget uses USB power from your laptop so there's no need for a separate power cord.When first connected via USB, the speaker gadget loads a driver onto the computer automatically. The software installation process also automatically makes the Z205 the default speaker, but the simple manual configuration steps for doing so are listed in the included operations manual.To compare the sound qualities from my Windows 7 laptops' (Toshiba and HP) built-in speakers and the Z205, I had to manually switch speaker configurations to make the speaker on test the default. I then restart my media application (e.g., Windows Media Player, etc) after each switch, turn the volume setting to maximum, and play one of the audio or video sample files that come included with Windows 7's Media Player installations (e.g., classical music, Wildlife in HD video, etc). The results were clear: the Z205 delivered better sound quality in all cases. The sounds from the Z205 were fuller, sharper, and richer; not BOSE-quality but still much much better than those coming from the laptops' built-in speakers.Lightweight and compact, the Z205 can be conveniently packed for travel. The 3.5 mm jack for connecting to external music players is a very much appreciated bonus too!Some reviewers have commented that this nifty little speaker gadget can really deliver very loud volume to fill a very large room, while others have opined that the maximum setting is not loud enough for them. My own experience agrees more with the latter: at maximum volume settings, the Z205 delivered sounds that, in my experience, were about 2-3 times louder than my laptops' built-in speakers but I still felt comfortable that the loudness level wasn't excessive. And although the Z205 doesn't deliver BOSE-level sound quality, it's still a considerable improvement over my laptops' built-in speakers.

If you don't mind having to replace the speakers after 2 years they're good speakers. The control box breaks and it can't be replaced. Even tech support said it's a very common problem. The only thing you can do is buy another set set of speakers. They will offer you 50% off. How nice of them seeing as it's a common problem that can't be fixed after only two years of very little use.

I bought these for my laptop after reading some reviews here that said they were great for their small size and the carrying case was a plus. I plugged these into my computer and they worked for all of five minutes. I went to the Logitech site discussion/support and I wish I had gone their first because I found more people with problems that I did here. This is my first purchase from Amazon too and I wish that the "not so good" reviews had been evident too. Unfortunately they were not or I never would have bought these. There seems to be lots of questions regarding compatibility with Windows Vista adnd 7 and Logitech does not seem to want to anwser the issue after numerous requests on their site and their email support was miserable. I boxed these disfuctional speakers up the next day and shipped them right back to Amazon. I will always question the quality of Logitech from here on out because I don't like buying something online and it working for five minutes just for me to have to turn around and return it and wait longer to receive a refund to buy something that might actually work. After I returned them, I plugged in my cheap Coby speaker system to my computer...and how beautifully it worked! Surprising how a normally low end product name like Coby worked exactly like I had thought the Logitech product would work. I do NOT recommend wasting your money on these speakers!

Delivery was ahead of time and I received the X-530 5.1 in Excellent condition.The sound is Great for 70 watts. I purchased a set of X-530s back in 2002 but you could not hag them on the wall. They went to Charity last year with the old PC. These speakers (530s) are replacing my Z-5500 LogiTech system which are hooked up to the TV now. If your PC has RealTek sound Software, you will have to ASSIGN each speaker in that situp for them to work Independently from each other or you may end up with only 2 speakers and Sub playing. This will be the case for ALL Multi speaker systems with more than 2 speakers if you have RealTek software. And Thank you Big Time Bowster Man for the 530s.

If you care enough about music that you don't want to get total garbage speakers, but you're not looking for high end home theater or full immersion gaming either, then these speakers will do just fine. The sound isn't going to blow you away, but they don't butcher the music at reasonable volume.They are solid and heavy, well built. They tilt back at about a 30 degree angle (not adjustable) and are heavy enough that your small cat, ferret, iguana etc. won't knock them over.They use a 2.75" driver and a 3" passive reflector. You're not going to get heart-thumping bass out of this type of driver, that's just physics, but the reflectors do add some low end.I particularly like the fact that the cables don't come off, and that they are substantial. Also a huge plus - NO WALL WART AC Adapter! They've got an axillary input, headphone jack and power LED.Edit: I am dropping 2 stars for this product. After only a few months of limited use, the speakers have developed an annoying buzz that increases with volume level, and the volume control knob is defective.Edit2: Back to 4 stars; further investigation revealed that the hum was caused by a faulty cable; not the speakers. The volume knob is still not right, but it doesn't impact operation. It is easy to turn from 0 to about 70% and then gets very sticky.

The Z-5500 system is one of the best Sound Systems you can buy. There are maybe a handful of competitors: Edifier, Creative Labs, Bose, and Onkyo, and all of these may fit into the same budget constraints an have the same features, but what makes the Logitech system stand out is the Customer Service.My story with their customer service started close to two weeks ago when my subwoofer's amplifier burned out (i was having a party, left it on very loudly for half a day, should have expected it, whatever)so I called up customer service and spoke to a representative. Their return system is a little funky, you send them the control pod and keep all of your speakers and they send you a completely new system. Crazy right? gets better.The rep then told me that my system was out of stock, and said if I could hold out, there was going to be a brand new model coming out very soon and he would upgrade me to that. Crazy right? gets better.Then the rep told me that my system was back in stock and he would ship me the z5500 set, and when the new model comes out I can send that one back and get the new model upgrade.When I bought this I was shaky on spending $400 dollars on a sound system. The audio quality proved it was worth it, the customer service makes me think I should have paid more. I'm extremely satisfied with Logitech, I'd buy anything from them.

Many have previously reviewed these speakers and have given low marks. Not going out on a limb here, but I'm sure I'll get negged from one of them - What are you expecting out of $10.00 speakers? Also, the size is listed on the product page so why were they a surprise.As they sit aside my Macbook they are a much better addition to my portable system and sound better than the internal speakers. I don't expect a Bose system nor do I think they are the powerhouse system that many expect. They worked right out of the box, are powered by the USB port and are controlled by your computer system volume button.I like the quality, sound and ease of use and setup. For $10.00 these speakers are worth their cost and will make a nice addition to the average system.

So I've been using these for about an hour or so, and I believe the X-140 the best audio product I've ever purchased for under $50!I bought these to replace my 8 year old Gateway USB-Powered Speakers, now I can't believe it took me so long to get rid of that OEM Junk.I'm using them as my primary audio with my PC and Xbox 360. I swap the main green audio plug (along with a RCA to Headphone adapter) to the Xbox when I want to use it, that way the Speaker's front AUX Port is always kept open for easy access to my Android phone. I would have liked to see 3 inputs instead of 2, but I'm used to the switching plugs thing from my old speakers, so no biggie.First, they are quite big and heavy, but are reasonably sized for even my cramped desk. But, if you're looking for a set to travel with, these are not for you.The units are made of plastic with a nice black metal mesh covering the silver/gray drivers. I prefer the metal mesh to fabric since it's more durable, doesn't get dirty easy, and for its appearance. The satellites are actually thinner than I thought they would be. The right speaker has the control panel, two knobs, one for volume and one for tone, and the convenient Headphone plug and MP3/AUX in port. They look kind of retro with the visible drivers and metal mesh.I did notice that the knobs seem to increase in resistance as you turn them, so as you make it louder, the knob gets firmer, useful for when you not looking, or in the dark.As I said before, they sound great for 2 speakers. Now I'm sure a 2.1, 4.1 etc., system would sound even better, but for me they serve the purpose. They are easy to set up, and the power plug is NOT a brick, so it only takes one space on a power strip!Sound is great; clear, powerful and loud with little distortion. Bass is great for not using a Sub-woofer.Great Buy, Recommended for those looking for a little bit more than the basic at a reasonable price.

I have been with this beauties for about 2 years, i bought them Refurbished certified for $189 till last month bought then here on Amazon i decide then to sell them it was time too retire thoseamazing speakers and used the ones i as on backup that i bought the past black friday for $199 NEW on tigerdirect.I still have more than one year left of warranty if anything goes wrong with them.sound is so clear and sharp no complain at all.Movies sound perfect on DTSMusic is great for the sound.Especially at night since i use this speaker to watch tv from my PC i can lower the base so i wont wake the neighbors up.

This system rocks! Basses are so powerful I had to downtune their level from the control pad. The high pitches are crystal clear and it is a pleasure to play classical music concerts with this audio system. UNfortunately I haven't a player that is 5.1 Surround capable so, I cannot judge. Stereo works fine. The matrix feature is still a mistery: all it seems to do is to make sounds less clear.I'd totally recommend it.

These speakers were purchased from Amazon and, having read the reviews, I was looking forward to some great computer speakers that would also hook up to a TV. WRONG !First hook up, right out of the box, the subwoofer did nothing but make a sound like it had been blown from having been played too loud. The X-540 system was plugged into my computer and, when the sub didn't work and the remaining speakers didn't sound very good and had little volume, I tried to reconfigure the speakers on the computer as suggested by some reviewers, but nothing changed either the subwoofer problem or the quality of sound and volume from the speakers. No bass was coming from the subwoofer at all -- just that blown-speaker-sound. I also moved the speakers & subwoofer around to be sure no other electronics were interfering with them -- still no change in performance. Additionally, I was shocked at the poor the speaker sound because not all of the sound problem could be attributed to the absence of the subwoofer -- the speakers weren't up to par.Next,the speakers were hooked up to a new Samsung T260HD monitor/TV (with it in TV mode)using the "adapter" provided by Logitech, but NONE of the speakers worked--no sound from any. So next I plugged the green speaker plug directly into the earphone jack on the monitor/TV and some sound came out of the speakers but it wasn't good and the subwoofer still made that awful noise and no other sound.Also, I am VERY disappointed in the packing by Amazon. The speaker box was shipped inside a huge box with a few pieces of slightly wadded paper thrown in which did absolutely NOTHING to hold the speaker box in place -- leaving it loose to be slammed around inside the shipping box -- which is never good because the UPS or Fed Ex or USPS guys throw those boxes around.I am not young, no longer strong, and it's a huge hassle for me to unpack and set up the speakers, move them around, and then have to disassemble the whole mess and try to repack them for shipment back to Amazon. That, combined with the fact that those speakers that were working didn't sound that great, make these speakers not worth the money, time and effort. Consequently, I am returning them. Earphones seem to provide good quality sound from the T260HD and are simple to use -- just plug in - so that's what I'll use for the TV and not bother with the X-540 speakers.P.S. While I was considering whether to buy these speakers, Amazon changed the price almost daily! First they were about $74 for a week, then they went up to about $95 for 3 days, then down to $74 for a day, then back up to $95 for a few days and now they are $82 ??? What's up with that?

I bought this system today. I have used it with my 360 and my regular TV, and I may say it is WONDERFUL! The only thing I have to complain about is the cords that come with it... very annoying to have cords all over my white walls - looks tacky.It sounds so clear, it is unbelievable! Don't turn the bass up too high in small spaces, it'll drown out the sound.Don't buy this item at Amazon. I bought my set at Walmart for $74. I don't know why people have it listed as $800. It isn't worth THAT MUCH.

These are pretty much what i expected.I have been getting feedback from my more expensive speakers when using my cell phone and though i would try these to see if it would go away and it did.Only thing not to like is no volumne control.

I hooked this up to my tv in my dorm room. It's not the greatest sound system known to man but it works perfectly for me. Sound carries throughout the room, works well for movies, games and music. My ra always comes in asking us to turn it down. For around 60 bucks, I couldn't be happier. Good bass as well

I must agree with some of the reviews in that this is an exceptional product for the price. This is a bold statement coming from a consumer who had to exchange this product twice for a buzzing sound on the left speaker.At first, I thought these speakers where nothing but a pile of junk with a good appearance. Soon after I hooked them up I was having issues with the left speaker, going on and off. I ran back to the store to exchange them. However, the second time around the lady at the store decided to try these speakers out right then and there, only to find out they where perfectly fine. The problem resided in the included sound card on the motherboard. After buying a new sound card, the speakers came alive with crisp beautiful sound I couldn't have imagined.So as a learning experience, probably valid for some users who have had issues with their speakers, the sound will only be as good as the sound card installed in your computer. Most all-inclusive (sound and video included) motherboard manufacturers like PC-Chips, ASRock and Biostar will usually pack a rudimentary sound chip in the board, which is likely to burn out in a few months leading the user to believe it was the speakers.If you're looking for exceptional sound, make sure you check the quality of your sound card first before drawing any conclusions about the speakers. In the worst case scenario, include a sound card in your new speaker configuration budget. Otherwise, whats the use of buying an expensive new pair of speakers limited to the sound chip in your motherboard?These speakers fit the bill for quality in several ways:1. Tough rugged construction.2. Hard plastic and metal grill in front.3. The wire connecting the second speaker is at least 10 gauge.4. Clear, crisp sound with noticeable bass.You can connect an external device on the front input, right next the audio out. Again, these are an upgrade for me from the usual ten dollar speakers, and I think it was money well spent.

the metal mesh guard used to protect all these speakers makes a buzzing sound if you turn them up more than halfway. the speakers themselves are of good quality and sound.

I've had these speakers before but my puppy ripped the USB part from the speaker. I was livid that she did that so I was hoping this model was still being sold. After looking around I found them and the speakers I got are in better condition then described! I love these speakers and I will be putting them higher up out of my puppy's reach! Great product, highly recommend this product to everyone.

After reading reviews before I purchased, I was a little afraid the speakers would be too quiet. They are definitely very loud for portable speakers. Very impressed/satisfied! My original laptop speakers sucked. These kick ass. They are just as loud as my original laptop speakers set at 100/100 when they are only set at 6/100. Amazing.

This plugged right in and was instantly "connected" to the laptop. I wanted a speaker that would start working without my having to go into the "innards" of the laptop, and this did just that. I've had it about two or three weeks and am very pleased with the sound and with the ease of clipping it onto the laptop. It has been "knocked around" a bit as is to be expected since I move the laptop quite often, yet it hasn't been affected. I like the buttons on top, one louder, one softer, and the on-off button. The placement of the USB wire at the back of the speaker has been no problem and it seems very firmly seated. I will always use this brand of speaker in the future. My laptop sound was so weak. Now it is a pleasure to have a full, rich sound.

As clear from the title. I was interested in these speakers because I thought you could hook them up to your computer and at the same time hook up input form the ipod and still be able to have that beside the main computer input working together simultaneously at the same time. Well, that turned out not to be the case. As soon as you plug in the ipod (or whatever other source) cable (not supplied) into the jack with the music symbol on it, the speaker acts as if you just plugged in a headphones cable. It cancels the main sound input form the computer and you are only left with the input from the ipod. To hear anything coming from your computer (like an incoming message alert) you would have to unplug that accessory in cable. The build and sound quality are decent though but that is a deal breaker for me.

These speakers have been doing duty on my wife's desktop since we bought them, and they've done an adequate job. They're not fancy, but for the price you don't expect them to be. They also are not lacking, which again, for the price, they shouldn't be. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a basic pair of speakers who doesn't want to risk the low quality offerings you tend to run into for less cash. They're not the best looking speakers ever, but they don't look terrible either. If you've got a black monitor/mouse/keyboard setup like most people, they will fit right in.

Bought these from a box store for my girlfriend who was still using her laptop's awful speakers for music and Hulu. She wanted something that wouldn't take up a lot of space, so that knocked out just about every decent set that included a subwoofer. The dual-driver set-up does give a decent amount of bass for a 2-speaker set, and it's better than some of the 2.1 systems I looked at in the $40-$50 range, but it's not going to fool anyone that wants true bass. The speakers are taller than I'd have thought but they don't take up a lot of room on the desk, which is good. They are also very solidly built.There seems to be an odd jump when going from low volume (too quiet) to mid/high levels. At high levels the clarity is only fair and can get a little too boomy. Still, for casual music listening or watching TV on your laptop they are fine.I have a 10-year old 2.1 Altec Lansing system that still blows these out of the water, but it's bulkier and less portable than these. If it were for me I would not go with these speakers, as they are only decent, but they are probably one of the better options for the space and money conscious considering you get some bass without the clutter of a subwoofer at a very affordable price.

I wanted speakers for my mp3 player, on a pretty cheap budget. I've been using my stock cheap computer speakers from 8 years ago and they sounded pretty muffled, so I wanted something small to replace them with. Generic ipod and mp3 speakers have pretty bad quality and reviews, not to mention they are priced higher. These had good reviews so I gave 'em a try.Great sound quality, don't let the price fool you. Not a lot of bass, but its not really needed. The wires are long, which is either good or bad depending if you want permanent set up or portability. you can't go wrong with these, they have full sound at a great price

These speakers strike a very good balance between convenience, low price, and sound quality. As far as volume boost and quality go, these speakers are a big improvement over most laptops' built-in speakers while still being very portable. Don't expect these speakers to turn your laptop into a full-blown entertainment center. They do, however, make most TV, movies, and music sound good enough to use for portable entertainment. For a reasonable price of about $30, these speakers can make your laptops' sound go from unlistenable to quite listenable, but don't expect the quality of a dedicated stereo system or home entertainment center. The one-piece clip-on attachment and USB power makes these speakers a lot more convenient to move and travel around with because you don't need any extra power cords or to worry about anything dangling from wires.

I originally wanted these speakers to replace the set we use when we travel. We like to watch movies on the laptop and take external speakers to enhance the sound.Regretfully that won't be happening because they are too big. They will however replace my current desktop speakers because they are much better than my old ones.They get loud enough for playing at my desk, but not loud enough for a party.The bass and treble achievable is good enough for my desk.They seem sturdy and have a really sharp look. I also like that I do not need to plug them in to an outlet. My desk already has enough stuff plugged in to my power strip.All in all for the price I think they are definitely worth it!!!

(SEE EDITS AT BOTTOM)We've been using this on our laptop for two weeks and really like the sound quality it produces. It clips right on to the top or side of the laptop monitor without any issues (unless we forget to take it off and try to close the laptop with it still attached). The sound is certainly loud enough, especially if you'll be sitting right in front of it. We've watched several Netflix movies and it seems to do just fine.It does take over the sound controls of your computer, and it seems like the interval jumps between volume settings is pretty big. Basically, you just have the options of Silent - Soft - Medium - Loud - Really Loud. But it's not a big deal. It does what it's meant to do. Our Dell Inspiron picked it right up when we attached the USB cable, and it's nice to have the volume and power buttons on top of the speaker itself.Cons: There is no protective case for this. Just a wimpy cloth sleeve to put it in. Virtually no protection offered to the speaker. Also, I don't really care for the way the USB cable connects to the back of the speaker. It gets bent very easily because it sticks out from the back at a 90-degree angle and I'm afraid that will be the first thing to get damaged.A nice, strong little speaker that does its job well without too much fuss.[EDIT: The thing just died on us tonight, after only two months of use. A short has developed in the cable at exactly the place I commented above in the "Cons" section. I've submitted a request to Logitech about repair/replacement. We shall see what they come back with.][EDIT #2: I have been in touch with Logitech, and found them to be quite helpful. They suggested a couple of tests to make sure the cable was in fact the problem. After that, they sent me an email warranty verification form to fill out and return. I sent that in, and within 24 hours they responded that a new speaker and cable would arrive in 7-10 business days. I'm pleased with the response, and Logitech has kept me as a customer because of their good customer service.]

I have only had these for a couple weeks, so my opinion may change, but as it stands this is a great set of computer speakers. I ordered them to replace an older Logitech 2 speaker system that really wasn't cutting it anymore. Works great right out of the box, and the sound is further complimented by the external Creative USB soundcard I'm using. They are easy to wall mount and despite what others have said I found that there is plenty of length on the back speaker cords. Unless the room you are installing these in is huge, you should be OK with what is provided in the box. The base is pretty good too, the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is I feel the base kicks ass at the desk - but as you get a little further away it definitely diminishes quickly. Great for gaming, watching movies, or listening to music. For the price versus quality these are a good pickup.
