For the price, these are a great buy. Clear sound, great bass, great for music and gaming. And LOUD - Glad we bought them and would buy again. Logitech also provides great customer service.

I was skeptical about all the positive reviews that these speakers have received. But they've really surprised me. They provide very crisp notes in the mid and upper range. The bass won't shake the floorboards or anything, but it's a big step up from those built-in speakers on your laptop. All in all, these provide excellent sound, especially for their size.The speakers are well designed and well made, too. The traveling case that comes with them is of surprisingly high quality. I'm very pleased with the overall value.One downside: because these are USB speakers, some of the special sound settings (like SRS WOW) may not work in all programs; it seems to depend. Some programs seem to support the USB interface, but not all do. Still, I'll take the simplicity of USB over this minor drawback. It's really nice not to worry about a power adapter and plug. And USB 2.0 provides sufficient power to crank up the volume quite high.An excellent product!

I should have stepped up one notch. The sub doesn't have much punch (again you get what you pay for) but the two speakers themselves are alright.It's not that I'm dissatisfied, it's just that I was considering this set or the Logitech x-230 and chose this one based on some other reviews and to save a few bucks. Now that they've arrived I'll be able to live with them just fine ---- still, if I were to do this again I would spend the few extra dollars for better speakers.

I'm surprised at all the positive reviews, but I guess different strokes for different folks. I think these things sound awful...not enough low end, very "middy" and hollow for my ears, very boring, lifeless sound. I'm shopping for something new.

I replaced my aging surround sound system, which consisted of a JVC receiver and 5 speakers and a subwoofer, with the Logitech Z-5500 system.I orignally spent over $350 for the JVC system and I thought it sounded OK. Boy, you don't know what you're missing till you hear sound from great speakers like the Logitech Z-5500's. I think most people buy them for their PC's but I am here to tell you that they are EXCELLENT as a home theatre replacement in the budget category. I love when family or friends come over and the first thing they notice is the lit up control pod for the speaker system. I then pop in a "Revenge Of The Sith" DVD and when the Dolby Digital introduction comes on, I have the volume cranked and it shakes the walls and everyone agrees it sounds like you are in a movie theatre. My living room is about 14'x 25' with a cathedral ceiling and there is just enough volume to give a theare experience. You cannot beat the sound quality/price ratio you are getting. Do not hesitate to purchase these speakers. I LOVE them. In case you are wondering, stereo surround sound with music cd's is also great. I even have a wireless media center attached to the control pod and I stream my MP3 music through the speakers and it sounds great.

I've had these speakers since the end of September and enjoy every second I listen to them. I do say, however, if you're going to buy great speakers like the Logitech Z-5500, make sure you invest in a great(not good) sound card. It's totally worth it. You can find great soundcards heavily discounted on Amazon.com or other outlets.I was hesitant to buy these initially because I loved my Z-2300, but I wanted to get a 5.1 system; I'm glad I made the deciscion. With the added support of a creative audigy soundcard, they sound so great.BTW, I ended up tripping over a rear speaker wire and breaking one of the stands on one of a rear sattelite. Well, I contacted Logitech's corporate office(Not Customer Service!) and explained to them the situation and they sent me a replacement sattelite free of charge! I am a devoted Logitech fan and my recent incident with the rear sattelite has made me a Logitech customer for life! They really impressed me by going above and beyond their call of duty. I was willing to pay for a new sattelite(just not a new system) but they ultimately didn't charge me for anything.So if you really want a great 5.1 system, do yourself a favor and get this system with a great soundcard. Trust me now, thank me later.Andre R.

Wonderful speakers, nice bass, no, scratch that, incredible bass. Sounds very nice, they are literally in home theater speakers, lol. I use them on my pc to watch dvd's listen to music, etc. They come with the things you need to hook up to your TV too. :-D If i get my own TV I'll find a way to connect TV(and the computer at the same time, they are very easy to connect to a TV), if i can't find an easy way to, I WILL BUY ANOTHER SET!!!I'd so buy them again, big BOOOM for the buck, lol, I am not complaining.

This is no 5 channel speaker system, but perfect for the user wanting quality desktop sound from games and internet when you don't feel like wearing the headphones. I use for BF2142 with 64 voices and works wonderfully without waking up the rest of the house with vibration.

I gave this system to my husband for his birthday and he absolutely loves it! He uses it both for gaming and tv/movies and it sounds great, and projects clear sound even when its turned clear up! We are extremely happy with it!

Set up might be a problem for some, and also explain the reason that some users have not been able to get all of the speakers to work. I installed on a Dell 5400 with Santa Cruz sound card. If you have a "versa-jack" you need to use that in your set up and you can benefit from 5.1.Overall they are loud, but best managed from a good soundcard. The deal price wise was unbeatable and shipping was lightening fast.I do get some really excellent sounds out of these and am extremely pleased.

I am very pleased with these speakers. They are solidly built, look good, and offer nice sound at a very reasonable price. I'm sure you could get superior,concert-quality audio from a more expensive model, but these are more than adequate for my purposes.

These have pretty good sound, considering they don't have a subwoofer, but they are larger than you might be expecting (check the dimensions). Also, don't expect them to just blow you away with loudness, either...not gonna happen.

At first I was a bit loath to spend a lot of money on speakers for my laptop, but these speakers are totally worth every penny! First off, the speakers are small and you get a small packing case to put them in when you travel or whatever. But despite their size, they really kick out the sound, the sound quality was really impressive. The bass started making the speakers rattle around a little, so I have something to weight them down, but they're great for rocking some tunes or watching a movie!! A great buy in my opinion!

Well I'm a college student and I don't have a lot of money, but I have been wanting a great sound system not just for my computer, but for TV. I waited and waited and looked for reviews on systems and finally bought this one. It was well worth my money. My room is a theater now! The sub fits perfect under my desk and gives thunderous bass. Then the the satellites are all around the room, and it fills ever corner with sound. If I were you and were contemplating about buying this. Buy it! I do have one problem though. I had read this in another review, but I bought it anyway. Whenever something else in the house kicks in, like the washing machine, the sub and speakers make a small pop noise, I guess because of the circuit and electricity. I've never had another sound system before so I can't compare them, but I do believe they beat most. These speakers are definitely in the top. DVD's especially war movies sound great. I felt like diving into a fox hole. The satellites have adjustable stands to where you can mount on a wall or just sit regular. I thought that was pretty smooth. Overall it's just the best 500 watt system for that much money around. I love it.

I guess it is best audio system for PC in existence. The bass is thunderous and precise and the speakers are loud and quality! I can turn this thing all way up and no distortions! I hooked my DVD to it and WOW the movie comes alive! For all that beauty and sound it provides it is very inexpensive and affordable. Highly recommend! I will be buying second set for a family room.

I am VERY happy with the performance of these speakers. I use them with my computer and PS2 to enhance my videogame and movie experiences. The sound is loud and rich, and the bass is much deeper than I expected. The subwoofer is also relatively small, allowing the whole set to be stored easily in a somewhat small box, instead of some huge box.Don't expect these to replace your entire home audio system. These speakers are better for smaller places, such as a dorm room, den or bedroom. If you want bigger speakers for home audio purposes, look into Logitech's Z-xxxx series.

After reading countless reviews, I figured these were the best I was gonna find for what's on the market. They sound pretty good. I have been hearing some strange noises on certain songs, almost like there's something wrong with the treble or something. Then again, I still haven't connected them with a digital or optical cable, just the ones they came with. I'm the kind of guy who thinks they should sound good right out of the box. Amazon had the best price, as they do with most stuff. I just wonder if they would have left them on the porch like they did with my logitech freeedom 2.4 joystick the other day. I live in an apartment complex! Good thing I have honest neighbors, although a huge, colored box like this one proabbly would have been gone. Anyway These speakers do rock, I am assuming better if I buy the right cables.

Chose the 5450 over the better rated 5500 because of the wireless rear speakers, and when the front right channel went out I wanted to get a replacement but was told by Logitech that they don't make them anymore. All they could offer (after waiting on hold for 20 minutes) was the 5500 which were $100 dollars less!. I requested a refund and was told to send in the control pod and remote to the corporate office and wait up to three months while they process the paperwork.They stopped making these because of "too many problems". Too bad, it was a good option for those who can't have all the extra cables for the rear speakers.Looking at the Bose Companion 5 as a replacement.

I plugged the Logitech R-20 speakers into my laptop and played D4l-Laffy Taffy..I was astonished..!!! The sound is rich and loud, and the woofer provides amazing bass..Fantastic choice..!!!

The system is pretty darn good for what you pay. I have bought cheap sound systems from music stores that were more expensive than this set and this one blows the sound quality of those systems away. The sound is crisp and the sub is not bad. I wouldn't use this if I were building a high quality home theatre with a superb sound system, but if you are looking to add surround sound to a bedroom or something along those lines, this system is perfect. Good price, good speakers, not bad all around.

I purchased these to replace my tried and true Klipsch 4.1 speakers (blown woofer) and so far I'm very impressed with them. Bass is tight and not overly boomy and the controls over a wide range of options. Gaming in 5.1 Dolby Surround is awesome with these. Midrange and highs are also great, but I recommend you tune it with an equalizer (X-Fi in my case) for your room size.

I am very pleased with my surround sound and the subwoofer speaker. When it arrived it was a breeze to hook-up, but there was one cable cord missing. The one missing is the one to plug into the back of your t.v., or personal computer that has the one male plug to go into the speaker female connection on the back of the tower, which has the two female plugs at the other end to connect into the small black relay where the speakers join together. You can use one from your dvd player, or from your cam-recorder until you puchase one to fit it. Otherwise it is a great system that fully meet all my expectations that I was seeking. I do recommend this for your p.c., however if you want to use for your television, the speaker cords are long, but not as long as needed to go around the room, which you will need to splice and tape extra cord you must purchase. The sound is totally awesome, and makes you feel you are in a theatre when in use. I hope this will help you should you purchase this system, which I highly recommend you purchase.

With speakers, it appears to be true that you get what you pay for. For the price, the sound quality is decent. I would never find a better 3 piece system for the small amount I paid for these. Major negative: the bass is sometimes overpowering and there is no software/equalizer to adjust this unbalance. Only thing that helps, somewhat, is when playing music thru Media Player you must use the equalizer in there.Again, for the price the sound is not bad....but if you listen to music with a lot of bass, be ready to thump the house.

I bought these because I needed something simple for my desk at work. These are perfect for me. Solid sound quality and a great price. The power is impressive, too; they'll get much louder than I'll ever need. They feel well made for their price.A few random notes:The speaker units themselves are a little larger than I had expected. They're a little over 8 inches tall on the desk and about 3 inches wide. They definitely do not "vanish" on my desk like some other speakers I've had.The connectors between the desk speakers are hard-wired into the desk units. That is, the desk speakers can't be extended with a cord to be further apart from one another. You'll need a wire cutter and a soldering iron to do that.The cable that connects the desk speakers to the subwoofer is also hard-wired into the right speaker (but that cable ends in a plug, similar to a DB9 connector, which is removable from the subwoofer).The input cable is also hard-wired into the right speaker. That cable ends in a 1/8 inch stereo plug to fit your computer, ipod, or whatever you want to hear.The subwoofer never turns completely off. It has a knob for setting its volume (independently of the desk speakers), but it's always on. That's not to say it's always loud, though. I work in a quiet office and have no problems.

For the price of this system, you can't get anything better. Full 5.1 surround sound and an amazing 10" sub is a great deal. I have this beastly thing hooked up to my computer (with a 5.1 capable sound card) and my PS2 (which both are hooked up to my widescreen monitor) and the sound quality can't be beat. Of course, whatever you're watching needs to be enabled for 5.1 surround (movies, certain games, etc), but it is definitely immersive to hear things from behind you. And if it's bass you're looking for, the woofer definitely has a lot to give. The remote makes altering settings such as bass, surround strength, etc a snap. And it's very easy to change over to different inputs.If you're looking for a good surround system while trying to keep the price reasonable, look no further.

These speakers are great for the price, the cables are a little short but you can get extensions at any radio shack. I use these speakers with my computer, which is part of my multimedia room, I run windows xp media center edition and everyone who comes over to watch movies cannot believe the sound these things put out, I will say that you get better results when you leave the volume on the speakers up high and control the volume with the PC or TV.

My sound room used to be the whole house, complete with a high vaulted ceiling and a big, open living space. The Klipsch 4.1 system worked so well for me for about four years that my husband bought me the 5.1 system two years ago, and he got the hand-me-down 4.1s. We're now in a different house, and my music room is only 12' x 15'. Although I could crank it and shake the room, the system was missing something. I kept cranking it up, but it didn't quite get it like it did before. I thought that the small size of this room had a lot to do with why the music sounded like it was missing something.I visited a friend who knows how much I appreciate quality sound, and his Soundblaster Live! card (same as mine at the time) and lesser Klipsch speaker system sounded far better than mine, which bothered me because I missed the big, spacious sound. He kept suggesting that I upgrade to the Soundblaster X-Fi card, which I eventually did. However, in the meantime, the Klipsch 5.1 speakers died (probably the subwoofer - wasn't a fuse). Although the Klipsch 4.1s are still working well, albeit with a short in the volume control, after having the 5.1s die and reading several reviews from people whose 5.1s did the same thing, I didn't want to go with Klipsch again. I'm loyal to a brand, but only until the quality starts to deteriorate.I went with the Logitech 5500s, because I want to hear crisp sound above a healthy bass that doesn't overpower the highs. I want the full, spacious midrange too. There's far more sound than I hoped for. I really did take a chance, and until I heard them I was afraid the Klipsch 4.1 hand-me-downs I gave to my husband would sound better than the Logitech 5500s system. Luckily, these kick butt, and I don't at all regret the purchase or paying the price for what I got. Phew!The highs are crisp and full and not at all harsh or shrill. The bass is capable of wall-pounding, but at a lower volume supports the music quite well. The control tower, which is about the size of the satellite speakers, is convenient and has several functions to affect the sound of the music without opening software. If you have a 5.1 speaker system, set the Effect to "6 Ch Direct." We got all the software settings right but didn't have sound until I played with the Effect choice on the control module.Highly recommended are the Logitechs with the Soundblaster X-Fi MusicXtreme sound card. Awesome.

the speakers are great! just be careful with this website, they charge you without stating it on the invoice. when i bought them it said I was paying 15 dollars, but when i received my bank statement they had charged me $10 for shipping and handling more.

This is a very good speaker with its price. You can feel wonderful surround sound and the sound is good compare to other speakers with the same price. The only thing need to improve is the wire for the surround speakers are a bit short. You cannot put them to the corner of your room.

Very easy to connect to PC. The speakers are a bit bulky, but they are well made, and they do look very nice. The sound quality is very good for the price. I haven't had any problems with the volume control or bass. Definitely recommend.

I came from the Logitech Z-680 speaker sets and the only reason I purchased this one is its in the same ballpark as the z-5500 The 5 small speakers feel lighter and have plastic feet VS the metal ones of the z680 they put out great sound, The sub woofer is larger than the z680 however it does not put out the amount of power as the 680 did.A huge positive over the z680 was the improved Control panel/volume It react quickly to your turns no matter how fast or slow you turn the knob.If you were not a fan of the z-680 being "boomy" the z-5500 is the way to go.

I originally purchased the Z-5500 for gaming on my new computer. While it's great for games, lately I've found myself sitting at the desk just to listen to music, even though I own a great stereo and a home theater unit. The sound reproduction is fantastic! The controls give you many different options. The small speakers produce BIG sound. I've read that other reviewers think the sub-woofer produces too much base, but I've got it configured just the way I like it with my sound blaster X-fi. I would highly recommend this system, although the sub is HUGE, so make sure you've got plenty of space for it.

i'm very pleased with my V20 speakers. no, this compact set does not contain a woofer for powerful sound, but if you are just looking for some nice clear sound from your laptop, these are great. i like to listen to "xm radio" when i am online, or even when i'm cooking in the kitchen. these speakers are sufficient to produce a rich enough sound for me. very easy to hook-up...a no brainer for the price...especially with a rebate or promotional discount. go for it!!!

Looks good, sounds nice, works fine. I needed it for my computer for those times sending the sound through my home theater would not be appropriate. These were priced right and produced clean sound. The only downside is that the subwoofer can be a little boomy if you have it turned up too high. If adjusted properly it sounds very good.

When it comes to purchasing a computer, many computer owners are now considering laptops over the desktops that are more bulky, and take too much space. Sadly, the only one disadvantage with the laptops, is that they absolutely don't produce the best quality sound. With Logitech, they definitely understand and know that the best sound quality has to speak for itself. Their V20 Notebook Speakers are very convient and easy to setup. They also don't require any alternative power from an A.C. adapter, unlike other computer speakers. The only disadvantage is that they cost a little bit more than the other computer speakers, but it is definitely worth it. Especially, if you buy bigger computer speakers that might cost less, they could easily tilt to the side, and break the computer. I definitely recommend Logitech and these great speakers. it's hard to believe you can get so much speaker system for just 38 bucks 50 with shipping but such is the case with these Logitech speakers ,the materials alone is worth the price ,solid Construction and superb sound ,no hiss or distortion , on the negative side I had two use an extension cable to get the control speaker where I wanted it and the mosquito netting fabric covering the cones make me nervous I mean a curious kids finger or playful cat could Relay ruin my day ,but for 50 bucks the sound and rest of the Construction make it the best deal iv had in a long time so i dont think you will be disappointed with these speakers .

I bought this expecting 1/3 of what arrived in the box. My home speakers cost $10,000 years ago so I'm not a light weight on expectation... As with all small satellite/sub-woofer systems the sub-woofer must handle higher frequencies than I would like because midrange needs to come from somewhere. That aside this system ROCKS. I bought it for my Toy Hauler Travel trailer. Would have cost me $1,000s to use car stereo equipment to achieve these amazing results. I have a 32 inch LCD with a upscaling DVD player driving this system for killer DTS and Dolby surround sound in the trailer after a day of riding. It also has the extra hook ups need to attach other devices like the PlayStation, MP3 Player and Car Stereo FM/CD player in the trailer. It also has ProLogic II for Movies and MUSIC. Remote control is simple and allows total control of the speaker environment. Think outside of the box like me cause this thing is far more than just a set of speakers for your Computer !

I use these speakers for my Dell Latitude D600 and they are wonderful. The sound is very good for such small speakers, and it really improves the experience of watching a DVD or listening to itunes. You can change the volume with the buttons on the speaker, or with the sound volume button built into the D600. The power drain isn't too high. I was able to listen to music at a pretty high volume for a little over two hours before my laptop battery was about 70% discharged.There is no software to install - just plug them in to a USB port and you are up and running (no separate power supply or batteries needed - they only need USB power). There are little braces in the back to tip them to the desired angle. There is also a nice little carrying case.I agree with other reviewers that they can bounce around a little at high volume if on a hard surface, but its not that bad. Thats the only flaw I could find.
