Just got these speakers and the volume knob sticks bad, have to force it to turn up volume.. There is hardly any Bass at all.. Should have spent the extra $30.00 and gone with the 3 piece that would include a seperate Bass speaker.. all in all disappointed but not willing to go through the Return hassle...

I bought this speakers in order to have a pair of portable speakers with good powerful sound. Well, I got none. They are incredibly big for the sound you get, flat, muffled and weird that is. I am comparing these with the Logitech X-230 speakers, which are a couple dollars more and those sound incredibly good! I mean, they are a little bit bigger because of the sub, but in terms of sound quality (and SPL) the X-230 blow these junks away.I still wish I had tried them before I bought them. Shame on you for these "speakers" Logitech.Advice: go for the Logitech S220, the same price but with good sound.

I hooked these up to my computer last night for play with ITunes. I was blown away by the sound. These sound as good or better than my stereo speakers. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and highly recommend these.

Pros: Great speakers, just like everyone else says.Cons: My experience: One of the satellite speakers was constantly buzzing. Logitech only option for me was to return the ENTIRE system. I did that after reluctantly paying the shipping cost. My replacement set was not function normal either. The control center applied a high pitch hum to all audio from digital sources. Again, Logitech only option was to return the ENTIRE system, and have me pay shipping again. I opted for a refund instead of a second replacement because I was already short some $70 for shipping costs!I loved these speakers. They sounded great when I had them. It would be no big deal if they freely replaced them, but making me pay the heavy shipping cost twice is ridiculous. What were the chances of me receiving two defective units in a row? Much greater than me buying another product from Logitech.

Like most I read the reviews on Amazon and other sites before I make an on-line purchase. In all cases I find there is a percentage of the reviews that are always far too critical especially when you consider the price you pay for the product (the old adage - you get what you pay for). In this case however I believe the reviews were a bit too generous and I think that Logitech could have made a few simple changes to make the set more functional. For example the lack of ability to adjust the speaker height is a bigger issue than I thought. Also, the center speaker does hang on your monitor but you should be very careful if you need to move or adjust the monitor because it will fall off fairly easily (as I've found out on a couple of occasions).The biggest issue though is the sound - the speakers are a little too "tinny" for my liking and every adjustment I've tried does not seem to compensate for it. Again, relative to the price these are not bad, I've certainly heard worse speakers costing around the same amount of money but I've also heard better.

Luckily I bought this for gaming which it is phenomenal for. However for music they...well they almost suck. I am listening to some music right now and its like average at best. My Creative 2.1 speakers are better for music. Like I said I bought it for gaming, I use them for playing left 4 dead 2 and I almost feel like I am cheating because it works so well. I recommend for gamers!!

These won't fit in my Computer bag, but they pack well in my regular clothing bag. They have their own top notch carrying case with a zipper. The USB power is a plus, no extra cords to carry around. Remember you're traveling. Traveling isn't perfect. just think "fluff and fold. I use my laptopas my main Computer. When I travel they are the best option. They sound very good, much better than computer. Very nice with the DVD player. They probably could be overdrivenlike a lot of small speakers. The front grills are metal and seem to be sturdy. I use them on my Macbook Pro. One major COMPLAINT is: they won't workwith my little Taurus travel usb hub. The speakers must be plugged directly to the laptop or they won't work. I don't know fault that is. Remember: You can always return them and start over $ 80 at Best Buy

Control Unit: The control unit is much larger than I had anticipated standing wider and taller than the speakers that this system comes with, but this makes for better handling hands on for volume and settings. Easy to push buttons toggle the display for sound options and control knob turns easily with small resistant increments. The remote controls the device 100% if the control unit is placed at a distance.Satellite Speakers: The satellite speakers have a heavy feel to them weighing in at 4.5, 5 pounds each. The plastic feet are molded into a sturdy shape, however the plastic itself is of cheap quality. The feet swivel so they can be set down on a flat surface or hung from a vertical back or front walls. Hanging them upside down from a ceiling or rafters will not work properly as the feet are in a "U" shape putting to much stress on the mounting holes and cheap plastic.Subwoofer: The sub is VERY BIG. 16 1/4" x 13". This does not include the added length of 1 1/2" on the back for the heatsink. The bump coming off a few of my songs rattled loose some florence lights I had in storage on the other side of the house! The ports on the back include all the speaker wire connections, a power switch and a VGA connection for the control unit.Sound encoding support includes THX, Dolby Digital pro logic II and dts 96/24. The sound is clean. The bass is precise and the surround is amazing. I strongly recommend pairing this whole speaker set with a high quality soundcard for added sound management, surround for games, and cinema for movies. I personally use the Creative X-Fi Titanium Pro that uses all the encoding the control center supports. It would almost seem like this speaker system and card were made for each other.One conflict I have encountered with the high quality soundcards working with this system is some functions can be redundant. I have surround controls on the card and also the control unit. These functions and others similar to these; subwoofer, surround, center, rear, can fight each other for control. If less is more in your world, skip the soundcard. This speaker system will stand out on its own.

This really is a monster of a system, I have to admit I was not really aware of what I was getting into. I just wanted something that would accept The S/PDIF optical output from my soundcard, I was tired of the clicking buzzing of cheap phono plugs in my 10-15 year old Altec system. Most of the weight and bulk is in the 10" Sub, but I really like the way it sounds, more natural than the smaller ones. Remember though there are 5 other speakers to hookup and you may not have the layout to do that easily. I found the 25' wires for the rear speakers could have been even a little longer in my case.I was going to fore-go hooking up the rear speakers, but I'm glad i didn't and found a way to place the speakers. The special-effects mode Stereo x2 is really great. This is my favorite mode as i don't have much 5.1 material. This single mode makes me feel that the system was a real upgrade.The control unit is also larger than many of the other systems because it has all the electronics in it for decoding and mixing the channels. As other have mentioned it has a few inputs and the standard headphone jack. The control unit also has a standard phono input jack easily accessible next the headphones jack, this is convienent for quickly connecting as digital music player, camera audio, or any device temporarily. If you don't want to use 5.1 sound, one unique input allows you to input 3 separate stereo inputs and switch between them. The IR wireless remote is probably something I'll never use but in some systems this could be a real useful feature, just program it into a universal remote. My control stand didn't have a level base, which is annoying, but not bad enough to ship it back, I just shimmed it. The cable on the control unit could also be a little longer, so the Sub could really be out of the way.So while costly I'm happy, and this system is working well for me. While I usually still prefer to listen to CDs on my stereo, this system is capable of producing great sound; I'm listening to a 96KHz 24bit recording right now from DVD.

1st set were DOA right out of the box. Crummy quality control over at Logitech. So I decided to RMA back to amazon. What a great experience with doing an RMA with Amazon. Got the replacement and was BLOWN AWAY at the sound. These things are amazing. No, they won't give you "earth moving bass", but the quality is fantastic. My review mirrors many of ones here, works great to watch movies on a laptop. Using the freeware VLC mp3/video player at [...] I can really pump out the sound volume since it gives much more control of various volume setting than WinMedia Player does.

Pros:1. Sound quality - Quality is fairly good (with the exception I mention below). These speakers are on par with those home theater in a box systems for your TV. Movies sound great.2. Inputs - It has a toslink Optical input, which I really like, since I can use it to connect it digitally to my Soundblaster Audigy. There are headphone and auxillary input jacks on the side of the control panel/ You can use the auxillary input jack to connect these speakers directly to an ipod, mp3 player, etc. So you don't have to use these strictly for a computer and can even use them for your home stereo system.3. Speaker wires - Finally, Logitech makes speakers with detachable clip ons on the back, so you can buy your own speaker wire if you need more than they give you. This is a big plus and something a lot of computer speakers don't do. Also, the speaker wires plug into the subwoofer. This isn't a big deal, but means you'll need to have enough to run to wherever you put your subwoofer. The front, right and center speakers come with 15' of speaker wire. The two rear speakers come with 25'. The cable to connect the subwoofer to the control panel is 7'.Cons:1. Subwoofer - It is enormous, and not magneticlaly shielded. Make sure to place it at least a couple feet away from your computer.Control center - The control center (thing that has the volume button) has an LCD display on it. This display is very bright. It literally lights up half my room when I turn out the lights. I like to listen to music when going to bed, so I have to strategically place my boxer shorts over it every time to block out the light. Either that or place a piece of electrical tape over the LCD, which is a pain. It should have a way to dim the LCD more, or cut it off completely.2. Speaker quality - for some reason many times I will hear static and a hissing sound coming out of the speakers. I have never turned my speakers up very loud, so I know I didn't blow them. I have no idea what it comes from. I can even hear it when no sound is being played on my computer.3. Satellite design - the base of the satellite speakers have two holes in them. I had no idea what these were for at first, but after looking at the picture on Amazon, it appears you can rotate the base and then put speakers into the holes to attach them to a wall. I guess this would work, but it would have been better if they had put a standard size speaker mount hole on the back so you can connect these to a speaker mount kit. This is also something computer speakers never get right and why they aren't taken seriously. Whatever you do, don't remove the screw on the back. This is not for mounting, but for holding the speaker together and if you take it off it is impossible to get back on without voiding your warranty. I do however like the look of the satellites and they are very appealing to the eye.4. Remote control - It would be nice if it worked by radio frequency instead of infrared, but it picks up the signal exceptionally well so I can't complain too much. It will pick up the signal from at least 30' away. It is pretty ugly however and they could have done a much better job on the design. There are too many buttons on it. All you need is the effect button, the input button, power, and the volume buttons. No one needs buttons to control the levels since that is rarely done, and can be done fro the control center. They should have put the necessary buttons on the control and made it 1/3 as big as it is.Overall, I think there is definitely some room for improvement with the speakers, but they are still the best I've ever owned for a computer, and worth the price. Until someone makes a much better set, I am content with using these.

its a decent speaker system w/ good sound. the price was kinda on higher side since u can find most speakers in 19-24$ range!! one thing u dont realize is the size.. with the slant and dbl spkrs, it needs much space than just hiding behind yr 19/22" LCD screen

Exceeded my expectations. The speakers sound great and the bass has enough punch to fill my room. Very quick and easy to hook up.Just one note on the back speakers. The wires are not extremely long so keep this in mind when designing your set up.

Constantly faced with a wall of iPhone speaker options when looking for portable audio spakers, this was a nice surprise.This powers by usb, and adapts to digital audio output. If you prefer to use the headphone jack for your audio, or analog 3.5mm out from another media device or mp3 player, this is pure WIN.While in digital audio mode, the volume and power control work flawlessly.I've used in the Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) and can attest yo it good sound and ease-of-use.Only cons that I know of: will not clamp to the thicker LCD monitors, but should suffice for LCD laptop thickness. However, the clamp is designed to also function as a free standing pedestal.

It turned out we didn't really need new speakers since we had one of our old speaker wires inserted into the wrong jack. Oh well, we like these new enough to just keep them. Great value and nice sound!

For better than laptop speakers sound, this clip-on stereo speakers make watching videos, and listening to music easy and enjoyable. Are these Bose quality sound, no. Are these great for stereo listening, surfing the web and enjoying your playlist, yes. The clip-on is great, as it also stands easily. Compared to what else is on the market at this time, these are great and I am very happy with my purchase.

Very good. Let my netbook play music/sound without wearing headset The upper and mid range is very good but I wish it can have a little more base.For it's size I couldn't ask for more.Anyway, I highly recommend this speaker when you travel with netbook.

Pretty much what I expected from inexpensive desktop speakers. I purchased them because they are USB powered, so there's no unsightly power adapter and AC wire. Surprisingly, unlike noted by earlier reviews, the touch buttons on the speaker work fine on my Mac Pro, using OS 10.58. Sound quality is good for playing internet radio and ITunes while I work. Obviously not high quality, but still pretty enjoyable. All in all I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

These are definitely meant for travel. When they arrived, I didn't think they would be so small (about 6 inches high by 1.5 inches wide). Not that I'm complaining. I wanted to compare sound, so I played a song using my laptop speaker and it was okay. I plugged these in and it was at least twice as loud. The great thing is they are usb powered and that's it. No adapter to plug in the wall. I have Vista (32-bit) and they worked just fine. Windows recognized and installed them automatically. They truly are plug-and-play. One thing is when I removed them, my sound was not working until I restarted (which I did right away). I don't recall if it had a "safe remove" icon pop up, but I wonder if that would stop this from happening?Pros:Small for travel (bag included)all cords includedusb powered (no outside power source needed)loudeasy to useVista capibleCons:expensive (I paid 23 from some other website)no adjustable base (they plug into each other and it acts as the base, but they are sturdy)I would recommend buying these. It's a definite upgrade from the included soundcard in my laptop. I'm glad I didn't pay the $150 to get the built-in upgrade.

This is without a doubt the greatest gadget I've ever purchased (and I've purchased quite a few). The fidelity that comes out of this unit is so rich for it's size that my ears are still trying to believe it. You will never go back to ear buds or cumbersome headphones once you experience this unit. It's finally made my netbook experience complete. If I could, I would give it even more than five stars. Logitech, you've got a real winner here. Bravo!!

I just received my Logitech V20 speakers and am excited to get them up and running. After hooking them up I was experiencing some mild crackling/distortion sounds coming from the new speakers. However, I was able to figure out why I was experiencing this problem. Go to the CUSTOMER DISCUSSIONS on the Logitech V20 speaker page, where you will find product description, reviews, and customer discussions. After fixing my issue I have found these speakers to be really nice. They are compact, but have great sound and power for their size. I would recommend these speakers to others who are shopping around. They are alittle pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. I hope this review helps people who are undecided.

I have tried several speakers for laptops. All had a small, tinny sound.I was skeptical about the reviews of these speakers and had some trepidationswhen I opened the box. They seemed too small.To my great surprise they well exceeded my expectations. Sound is clean, crisp,with a reasonable amount of bass given the size of the speakers. Set-up couldnot be easier - speakers have a built-in foldout stand. Simply hook them togetherand plug it into a UBS port. Instant stereo sound. Nice touch is the volume controlon the speaker - don't have to fiddle with the computer, just set it on maximumvolume the first time.To round it all off, the speakers come with a compact, hard surface travelingcase; easily fits into a pocket of a laptop case. The whole package is very wellthought out.Price is remarkably low given the above quality.Capt Tom

I had a Samsung receiver with a 5.1 amp & Klipsh speakers for seven years. Very nice listening experience. It did a bunch of other stuff I no longer needed. When it went the other way in a divorce, I looked hard for a HTPC solution that was just the amp/speakers - smaller, less wires, simpler all around.The Samsung optical digital in occasionally got tripped up by the bitstream protocol and made very loud and very unpleasant noises or distortions. I was hoping that would go away - maybe a newer device would have more robust algorithms. Yep. The Logitech is perfect in that regard. Sweet.I could not find a big box or small box store that carried this item. So I dug hard at reviews like this one. I found that 89% of 1100 NewEgg reviewers gave it 5 stars. I wouldn't call that taking a chance, but it's a weird feeling to buy speakers without hearing them.What I didn't expect was better sound than my Samsung/Klipsh system, but I got it. It's primarily about theater listening for me, and it clearly sounds more theater-like. I'm very pleased with the sound.Along the way I read that the 6 feed analog hookup (in general, not this unit) could provide a superior connection - letting the sound card do the D/A and blah blah. I tried that first and was not happy with the sound. Next I simply took the optical digital from my computer straight into the Logitech Z-5500 and wow. Just go with the optical digitial.Cons: Not much at all. It doesn't power up to the previous volumne, so I have to turn it up when I turn it on. I know why they do that but I prefer it the other way. The LCD display can be a little bright in a theater environment. Some programs or commercials are boomy and it makes you want to tweak down the equalization. But it's never a problem for real programs - TV, DVD, Blu-ray, music. Probably about the jerks mixing the local news and whatnot to compensate for most people's crappy systems and trying to grab you attention with extra bass and volume.

Got it to work on Arch Linux right out of the box. Used alsa and asoundconf ..all I had to do was change the default soundcard to the speaker, listed as "default" on my laptop.I am using a Thinkpad T400 and this speaker is 10x better than the built-in speakers.I'm very pleased with this product!

Overall I am satisfied with these speakers. They are easy to set up and there aren't a lot of wires to clutter your work space since they are USB driven. They also look nice. My only complaint, and it is not a big one, is the volume control on the speakers themselves. Very poor volume control. I had to add the volume button to my notification area so that I can control the volume that way. It is not a big deal and that gives me control of my laptop's volume more efficiently. The speakers have decent sound although at the higher volume they sound rather tinny. I had a larger set of HP speakers that sounded better but they had way too many wires. So I am satisfied with these Logitech speakers and would recommend them to anyone with limited work space.

These Speakers are so easy to connect you just plug it in the subwoofer and plug in your green plug into "ANYTHING" and push matrix mode and you can hear it good with "BASS" The Price is Unbelievable! i might get 2 for my tv and for my laptop

I had this system connected to my xbox 360 and ps3. I purchased them primarily for gaming and movies. No complaints besides a few difficulties wall mounting. The price that is listed at the time of this review is $ four hundred and I purchased these around 2 years ago for approx $ two hundred so for the money they were an exceptional value.Pro's:-They are solid and fairly heavy. Heavier the better when it comes to speakers since the weight of speakers is generally from the size of the magnets and internal mechanics.-Fairly inexpensive when compared to other system with similar specs.-Very well built.-Great Hi's, mid's and low's.-Built in receiver, connects directly to your source.Con's:-The center speaker is difficult to wall mount without an offset screwdriver.

These speakers are really nice. They look great and sound great. I haven't run into any problems with them yet (had them for 2 months or so). I would suggest them to anyone looking for great 5.1 sound an doesn't want muh hassle with the setup.There's only a couple of things I would warn someone about. First, the main controls being on their on stand (volume, input control, etc.) although nice, is fairly large, it's a little wider and taller than one of the speakers, so I had an awkward time trying to find a place for it. So if you don't have much desk space keep that in mind. You could always use the remote or the volume setting on the computer so not a big problem. The second problem is not enough audio settings. There is only a simple "surround" volume option to increase the volume of both the rear speakers, which makes things a little difficult if they are not the same distance away from where you're going to sit.

These are solid speakers. I got them at a nice price after discounts and rebates. Pretty happy about it. They work well and I have them hooked up as a budget home theater set. Granted, they're not the best quality, etc. But they get the job done. I'm not the biggest audiophile either. I found speaker stands (SSR43) that work perfectly with the satellites if you want stands for this set. It takes some manual intervention [...]and also ends up voiding warranty I think, so take your chances. My setup is great though.

It's small, compact, the jaws hold onto your laptop firmly and there is protective rubber so it will not scratch anything, it is quite loud for its size and sounds great, especially if placed close to a hard surface. Works great for watching movies on my laptop..

I purchased these speakers 2 years ago, and they are still my favorite for my 42 inch tv. Although the wires tend to get in the way, some bread ties or rubber bands can fix that, (if you're ghetto like me). I was upset when I first recieved them, because they were PC speakers, which was not noted on the description. But with a monster cable from Marshalls, about 5 bucks, I was hooking up my Ipod, as well as my laptop, and tv. These speakers are versatile, and the bass is great. The connections make for just about any combo you can think of. If you need speakers for any device in your home, and are on a budget, listen to me. BUY this set. You will get plenty of volume, and bass, and there is nothing that comes close for the price. PERIOD!

really a good speaker for the money. not at all disappointed, but the quailty of sound isn't as good as I'm sure some of the more expensive systems, but really a nice speaker.

Works well for a small apartment. I have mine hooked up to my TV so I can have surround sound when I play video games and it works great. The way I have the adapter positioned makes it easy to unplug the system from the TV and plug it into my laptop as well. If you use it like this, however, you will have to use matrix mode so its not true 5.1, but the sound is much better than the monitor's speakers.Since I wanted more distance between the speakers, I needed to grab extension cables to place the speakers where I wanted them. One thing to remember when purchasing extension cables is that the cables to the speakers use RCA phono, while the input is the same as a computer/headphone jack.Overall, great product for the price.

I gave these to my brother and he's been satisfied with them so far. They put out good, loud sound(for what you'd expect from speakers of this size),look sleek,and aren't bulk so you can haul 'em around with your laptop.There's not much more that I can say besides the fact that they work well and are great for the money!

These speakers sound pretty good. Most people who hear them seem surprised that they are "portable" and USB powered. The buttons on top that control the selection of the next and previous song don't work with my MacBook, but that is just a minor inconvenience. The sound and volume are just fine for filling a small-medium space with decent quality sound but don't expect to shake any windows or hear the music above a loud group of people. I have had these speakers for about three years and they are still working as new. I would recommend these speakers to friends and would buy them again.

I ordered the Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System so I could listen to my I-pod. I never would have imagined that the sounds would be so loud and clear...I am so happy that I bought this speaker system that I recommended it to my friends so they can enjoy their music too!!! Oooh yeah and I purchased mine used, its beautiful, you can't beat the price!!

Although designed for laptops, I'm using this with a Mac Pro desktop. Coupled with SRS iWOW software that I purchased separately, it produces decent sound for a tiny set of speakers. I particularly like the fact that it's powered through the USB cable. I have not had the opportunity to use this speaker with a laptop yet, but I think it would come in handy for anyone who needs to do presentations. I'm not a fan of "booming bass" that vibrates the room. If you are, this is not for you.
