I needed some external speakers for playing videos on my laptop to groups,because the built-in speakers did not have enough volume. I read a number of reviews of different speakers before deciding on these. They are excellent and provide a lot more volume than I had before. They were very easy to set up and as another reviewer mentioned, they have a direct AC plug for power. Also, you can't beat the price for these.

I was looking for just a cheap set of speakers to use instead of the speaker built into my monitor.Got a little bit of christmas money, and decided to get these.For $25 I am VERY impressed. They are very solidly built, they sound fantastic, and I like they they use a regular size plug instead of a wall wart so they don't eat up space on a power strip.The grill is very sturdy compared to other speakers I've owned in the past.I used to own a pair of Klipsch 2.1 speakers, and the build quality on the logitechs is much better, and they don't seem to sound as muddy.

My Klipsch Promedia 5.1 system crapped out a few weeks ago (began producing an incessant hum) and I began troubleshooting it and came to the conclusion it may be better to just replace it. So I began looking at the better 5.1 computer systems. I discovered that the Klipsch system was no longer available...as a matter of fact, Klipsch no longer even produced computer speaker systems at all. I was aware of this Logitech system from a couple of years ago and I also considered the Creative system. I went with the Logitech because I always liked the company's support and customer service and I have had great luck and service from all of their products...and I have owned many.Going straight to the point now...I was disappointed with the sound quality for music. The midrange was sucked out, the highs were not all that crisp but not bad....and the bass lacked the detailed punch (putting it lightly) when compared to my old Klipsch system. I have tweaked and twisted my sound card and the speaker system every which way and they still just sound fair. Now you must put my opinion into context though...this is ONLY a computer sound system, and they may STILL be the best sound, at least one of the best on the market in this product niche.The system has a full 2 year warranty with great customer service, The features and inputs are immense...so if you want this for movies and gaming and music is only somewhat important to you this is the one to get! It is wonderfully versatile and probably dependable.If you are buying primarily for music reproduction I would advise you to consider an old set of Klipsch Promedia's if you can find them. (they are not all that reliable mechanically though) or just get you some kind of home theater sound system and forgo the computer sound system option altogether. Or give a listen to the 2-3 other options out there that I did not audition or mention. (There is not a LOT of direct competition for this product.)I rate 3-3.5 stars due to only decent music reproduction and probably 5 stars overall for those who will enjoy and use all the included features.

My title is pretty direct. The sound is ENORMOUS that is produced out of these. For a fairly cheap 5.1 system it plays back sound quality that is top notch. The bass can produce immense volume, the satellites offer great tone and sound quality, the center gives good feedback as well. However I've not gotten to run this through it's full paces in true 5.1 yet to give an accurate description. So I will simply describe it in simplest terms first, and later update this.I used the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and "War of the Worlds" to test and bench mark against my old logitech 2.1 system. Let me say that with the bass alone my old speaker system was drowned out completely by the opening sequence of "Saving Private Ryans" beach landing. The sound of bullets and the shock of mortars really pumped out of the 10 inch sub.The Rears and fronts gave good quality for spoken dialogue and the higher frequencies of bullets and gun fire came through excellent. All in all the only one speaker of this set I've not yet gotten good feeback from is the center, again due to my lack of proper set up for the true 5.1, pesky sound card! My 2.1 couldn't hope to keep up with this system. Although a good system, the sub alone is about the size of 3 of my old.For "War of the Worlds" the trumpeting of the alien ships was immense. The sound of building being destroyed and beams vaporizing civilians came through excellent! Leaving a very cinematic feel. I was impressed overall by the fidelity of which this produces sound. Given again, that it is not a top of the line home theater system, but for computer system it really is awesome.For my brief intro, I will say this already is worth every penny I spent and I would recommend these a thousand times over. Once I do some upgrades to my PC to offer better sound processing I'll revisit this for a fuller review.

I purchased this system about 2yrs ago (for $345). I use it with my Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum card which makes this system scream. I do like to listen to my music very loud and I have yet to blow any of the speakers. I would recommend you use a good sound card to get the full affect though. The subwoofer beats any of the other surround sound systems with no popping that you would sometimes get from listening to movies. I would recommend this to anyone but I am surprised the price went up so high I only paid around $345 to $380 2yrs ago.

I just got it today. This is amazing. Sure the wires are a tad short, but you can't beat the price. Plus, extension wires are not that expensive. I highly recommend this product. Special shout out to the guys at 4surpluscity. you are the best.

EXCELLENT especially for the price! we got this after being frustrated trying to listen to some netflix movies on it while in the hospital for a few days. was so frustrated with my laptops internal speakers, decided to do something about it and this was it! this rather little device clamps very easy to my laptops screen bezel, plug in usb cord and thats it! it made my o-sub-par laptop come alive! now we can listen to whatever we have streaming from across the entire house! very simple, no software needed, has top mounted volume < > and on/off switches. it doesnt make for surround sound or extremely loud desires, but for watching movies, vids, live streams, etc., this is simple, inexpensive and most of all, does a great job! very happy!

These inexpensive little speakers really do the trick. I'm a musician and wanted to listen to some tracks my band recorded, but with my built-in laptop speakers, I couldn't hear any bass at all. The speakers allowed me to really hear bass on the song, plus they're great for watching movies or listening to music on your computer. The sound they give is full and rich. They're not Bose or anything, but they are a great value for the money. I got a pair for home and a set for work. I've always listened to classical music at work on built-in speakers, so these make me feel like I'm in a concert hall!They're small and cute and I love that they get power from a USB since I don't have many empty outlets, and it really keeps cord mess to a minimum.

These speakers pack a nice punch for their size and price. I was using clunky speakers with wires all over the place. These speakers connect to my laptop with a USB cable; no power cord, no transformer, just two speakers connected to each other and then to the laptop. The sound quality is pretty good and they meet my needs. Caution: the speakers can only be spaced about 3 feet apart because that's the length of the cable between them. And the USB cable is only about 18" long. Keep these parameters in mind if you are considering them.

The description makes these speakers sound interesting for general purpose use. Since they are USB powered, you don't need a separate power outlet and charger for them. Just plug them into your laptop's USB port and you're good to go. Even when you don't have a power outlet, you can run them off you laptop's battery (for some period of time).Unfortunately, they don't live up to expectations. These speakers are kind of bulky, with 2 large pieces and a big collection of wires. They won't fit into slimmer briefcases and will take up a good amount of space no matter what bag you put them in to. Sound quality is mediocre. They are fine for listening to spoken voices, like video conferencing or podcasts. They are probably also fine for computer game sound effects. Music quality is poor at medium or higher volumes, though.The low price might might make them attractive to someone who uses their computer in one place most of the time and doesn't care too much about portability. Just don't expect much sound quality.

This system is a great first system, my room in my apartment is where i'm using it (which is actually more like a jail cell). It's currently hooked up optically to my xbox360 and through digital coax to my Blu-Ray player and the sound is amazing, I almost think that i've gotten better at gaming now that I can hear what is coming behind me and from the sides, etc...The system was a breeze to set up, hook up the wires, run wires through my room and mount the speakers in a 5.1 setup, just a forewarning, the sub is HUGE, the good thing is that it has a "night mode" which tunes down the base, which is great if you live on the 2nd or higher floor and people live below you as it does get fairly loud. The included wire was not long enough to run it how I wanted ( I don't like visible wire so I ran it longer to hide it better, though it should be fine if you don't mind visible wires. Other than that you pretty much just plug and play. The control unit comes with a remote and is nice and large with a good screen on it, you can run a quick "test" of all the speakers once youre done mounting them. The surround speakers are a little hard to mount to the wall as the speaker blocks a screwdriver from really getting in there, it took a little longer but it got in. Just a minor nuisance but i think it could be the fact that i didn't have a longer screwdriver.There isn't much in terms of options, Center speaker volume, sub volume and surround volume, all the speakers sound great for what you pay, i'm not expecting AMAZING sound from it, but at this price point you are getting a GREAT deal with some GREAT sounding speakers, the bass kicks perfectly and the mids and highs are excellent. I have a speaker in my living room that I use my iPod with, so I don't listen to much music on these speakers so I couldn't give you a total description, but for movies the score sounds amazing and the special effects sound like you're in the middle of the actionOverall, for this price i'd buy it again if I ever needed to for some reason, glad I chose this system!

Iv had these speakers since 2005. Bought them refurbished on ebay for about $35. They work great and never had any issues with them. They can either stand on top of a desk or be mounted on a wall. The base of each speaker rotates so it makes the mounting easier. The sounds is really clear and the bass, when fully turned on, makes the whole room shake. The cables for the front 3 speakers are shorter than for the back 2 speakers. I highly recommend these!

I owned these speakers for about 11 months and the whole time, they worked perfectly. Sound is awesome coming from these speakers, both from the satellites and sub-woofer. However after 11 months of use, the control pod simply gave out and would not turn back on. Called Logitech support and stated it had failed and I had to send it back. However the down side is this set is not produced anymore so I have to get the "new" Z906 set from them. Needless to say this speaker system is an awesome set up and if you can obtain them and they work, I do recommend them. However be forewarned the control pods are prone to failure. I had thought since I had purchased mine in 2010, all the bugs would have been worked out with the control pod failures. This is not the case.The speakers come down to luck. Many people have had theirs for 5+ years without problems. I wish that was the case with mine. They will be missed. I have to give this item 3 stars simply due to the fact that they failed after 11 months of use. I never abused it with excessive volumes or left the unit on over night. Good thing Logitech has a 2 year warranty on these speakers, because I will never throw down another $350 for their speakers ever again.

I have a big Sony receiver set up for full 7.1 in my home theater and this is not in the ball park, so if you want to shake the china out of the cabinet and really annoy the neighbors you need to spend a lot more money. However, if you want good sound for TV, movies or tunes at a very reasonable price this is a great system. Plug it into a decent sound card and the quality at reasonable listning levels is as good as any of the all-in-one home theater systems I have tested. It does have some impressive volume for its size, I can't stand to sit at the computer at much over 50% and I keep the bass set at mid-renge. I expect that it will start to fuzz near full volume like most systems in this price/size range, but I don't have the need or stamina (I already have hearing damage from occupational noise exposure) to find out. This is really excessive for your average computer speaker system and would be overkill for most dorm/bedroom applications. You could definitely annoy the neighbors in most appartment settings. I think you would have a very hard time finding a better value in this price range. I gave it four stars because it is not top-of-the-line, but it is top-of-the mid-range and a good value.

I bought these to replace the Klipsch Pro Media Ultra 2.0 speakers I had been using with my bedside Sony Dash. The actual sound and volume from the Klipsch setup was superior BUT (and this drove me crazy!) the volume control on the Klipsch speakers created a lot of static each time you turned the volume up OR down and had to be fiddled with to get proper sound from both speakers after each adjustment.The footprint of these Logitech passive speakers is much smaller, especially considering that you don't need an external power cord, since the power is drawn from the USB port. The Dash does provide an external volume control, but even at the maximum setting, the speaker volume is not very loud. Fortunately, it's just about right at the distance I listen to them and the sound is clear and distortion-free.If you use them with a laptop, you can control the volume through the software so that should not be a problem. At the current Amazon price, they are a total bargain! Just don't expect deep bass or high volume.

I've had these Logitech speakers for about 4 months now. I originally purchased them to have something to plug my iPod Shuffle into while in the dining room. I now use them with my computer, primarily for listening to talk mp3 podcasts and music CDs while I'm typing (especially the Bach Edition that I purchased on Amazon).First for the good: these have a decent design with a very sturdy construction and a pretty good aesthetic look. They have two ports--one is an "out" for a headphone jack and the other a music "in" for hooking up male cables. Besides the music-in port, the speakers have an attached male cable that be hooked up to the audio out on a computer, mp3 player, etc. Finally, as other reviewers have pointed out, the electric cable is a good ol' fashioned plug without an AC adapter, which I find to be a really nice feature. It seems like almost all electronics now come with AC adapters, and I find them to be a real pain.As for the bad: while the design allows multiple ways to hook up your audio source to the speakers, the attached male cable did not work well in my mp3 player. It plugs into my computer soundly, but in the iPod the cable had to be adjusted until it would pick up the sound properly, then it would cut out unless the player was put down on the table in just the right position. (I haven't had trouble with other cables and headphones being hooked up to the iPod, so I think it is the Logitech plug and not the iPod port.) Also, while the volume knob works quite well and there is a good range of volume, the tone knob is very stiff, and there is virtually no change in sound from the speakers whether the tone knob is all the way left or right. Finally, the sound quality on these speakers is very poor--flat and hissy--and I had no success changing the volumes or settings on the input devices I tried (like my computer).In the end, I found a use for these speakers hooked up to my laptop. The sound quality is poor enough that they do a barely adequate job of playing talk mp3 podcasts. For music, they are really inadequate, although since I use them to listen only to background music while I'm typing, it doesn't matter that much. For the price, I'm not too upset that I bought these, but I would never buy them again, and I would never spend an afternoon seriously listening to any music over them.

I ordered the Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers for my office cubicle for evenings when I'm working late, primarily to use with my iPod and cell phone. I didn't pay close enough attention to the size of these. They were way too tall for me to set up at work (~10inches), so I brought them home for my home office. Immediately upon turning them on, there was a not so subtle buzz from the speakers. I thought this would go away if I plugged my ipod into the aux input jack and started playing something, but the buzz did not go away. Not only that, but the left speaker, which has the power supply connected to it, was broadcasting some FM station. Obviously, there's an issue. Lastly, I had to put the volume about 3/4 full just to listen to a podcast at a normal level. I wouldn't even be able to hear these at half or a 1/3 of the volume dial. I am very disappointed, as I have always been satisfied with Logitech products. These are big speakers with substance, but the interference, buzz and volume level make them unusable for the purpose for which they were marketed.

I bought these speakers in the summer of 2008, and used them vigorously for the next 3 years in a college dorm setting (frequently moved around / spilled on / dropped / stepped on and kicked) and on the last day (i left them with my roomates) they still sounded so damn good. The bass is powerful, yet you can adjust it so its just right (or blast it for a sick dance party) and the high range is crystal clear. They are well worth the money, and are great for either movies, video games or a good computer speaker. They are versatile, durable, and straight up rockin.

These speakers enhance and embelish the music coming from my computer. We even temporarily tried them on our HD TV and the sound was so much more rich and full than before. I use these speakers in my home office as I spend many hours as my computer doing family history and voluntary lookups for others from the books I own. I would definitely recommend them to others. The price was very reasonable, I paid $24.99 I believe.

I have been using these speakers for over a year now, and I can say that these are the best speakers I have ever owned. I am sure there are better speakers out there that cost twice as much, but these are the best for the price. The speakers are extremely clear and the subwoofer is bumpin'! These speakers are way better than my car speakers in my 08 Altima and a $300 set of Bose speakers I have.I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for good computer speakers. Too bad these are discontinued, but you can still buy the newer version.

After the most recent round of price drops, I bought these speakers to replace the budget Z 680 set I've been using since college. I have found the Z 5500 set to be a great value for the money...not exactly top-of-the-line in performance, but they are both good enough and versatile enough to meet many diverse needs.* * *PREAMBLEI should probably qualify my statements by explaining my rather unique situation. Four or five years ago, I bought the Logitech Z 680 5.1 speaker set, which was very much a budget set both in features and in sound quality. However, they were cheap, and I was in college (and thus without a lot of money). Besides, I had a full home theater setup comprised of older but high-end components, and some nice floor standing speakers. The Z 680 set was only for my computer.Since then, my needs have changed. I live in a small studio apartment (rent is insane on the west coast, and you can't afford much on a teacher's salary), I have switched from a desktop PC to a laptop (which does not have analog output for 5.1 sound), and my old home theater rig just took up far too much space to be practical in a studio. My new goal was to reconfigure my home theater with a minimalist goal: TV, speakers, and PS3 (to serve as a set-top media box, which it does surprisingly well). My poor little Z 680s paled in comparison to my previous setup, and were thoroughly inadequate to drive a home theater. Thus, I started speaker shopping, and landed on the Z 5500 set as a replacement.* * *BUILD QUALITYAside from the cabling, there are eight components in the box: four satellites, a center channel, a subwoofer, a control unit, and an IR remote control.The four satellites are identical. They each contain a hybrid tweeter-midrange speaker (about 3") with a cone tweeter in the middle. The housing is silver plastic with a plastic and metal base. They do have some heft to them, and the center of gravity is low enough that you don't have to worry about them getting knocked over too easily. While the plastic construction is unfortunate, they do not feel cheap, and I have no complaints about the workmanship.The satellites are permanently affixed to swivel bases and rotate 180 degrees (so that you can use the base either as a pedestal or as a wall mount--holes are provided in the feet so the speakers can be mounted directly to the wall). Unfortunately, the pivot is free-moving, so it is not possible to lock the speakers in a tilted position to achieve different angles. There is no straight horizontal or vertical adjustment. Also, they only rotate 180 degrees rather than 360, so you cannot make use of the full range of angles anyway.The center channel is functionally identical to the satellites, but with a different mounting apparatus. It uses the same tweeter-midrange hybrid, but rather than having a swivel base affixed to the long end, it has a metal prong stand coming out of one of the sides. The stand adjust vertically (and only vertically). It does not lock in place, but it is secured firmly enough that it will hold whatever position you tilt the speaker into.All five speakers use standard speaker wire clamps, which is a welcome change from the built-in wires utilized by some budget sets. They come with removable black grilles, which I would recommend leaving on both for protection and because the speakers look somewhat gaudy without them.The subwoofer is larger than might be expected, and accounts for most of the weight of the package. (Be warned: the package these things come in is large, and it is heavy. If you try to carry it with the "handle" cutouts in the side of the box, the box *will* tear). There is a metal heat sink covering most of the back, and the rest of the rear panel is taken up with speaker clamps, a 15-pin (VGA-style) connector for the control panel, a manual on-off switch, and access to the fuse. It seems to be of solid construction, and other than its surprisingly large size for a computer subwoofer, there is nothing unusual about it.I love the control unit. It is very sleek and modern in appearance, and it has an elegant and "expensive" feel to it. The front (the part you see) has a lighted power button, a blue-lit LCD monitor, four buttons for settings (more on these in the next section), and a free-spinning weighted metal knob. The whole thing is very aesthetically pleasing, and the knob has a very nice feel to it. The LCD does its job adequately and the silver-and-black unit blends in quite nicely with just about any setup. It stands upright on a non-adjustable base. The audio inputs are on the back, with a line input and a headphone jack on the right side. There is a hard-wired cable coming out the back, which connects to the subwoofer.* * *FEATURESOverall, I was very impressed with the feature set. The Logitech Portable Computer Speaker is just that....portable. I bought it for my wife and while she thinks it has enhanced her audio on her laptop tenfold, it may not be for someone that is constantly moving their laptop, because it has to be removed to close the laptop cover. But, it does provide a marked improvement from the stock audio from most laptops (this one is an hp).

The Z205 speakers from Logitech deserve a serious look from anyone looking to replace or augment weak laptop speakers. Here's the overview of these worthy little performers:PROS: 1) Sound. 4 out of 5 stars. 2) Form Factor. 5 out of 5 stars. 3) Versatility/Features. 5 out of 5 stars.CONS: None. Considering the price and the overall performance of the Z205's the "cons" are so minor they are hardly worth mentioning here.Sound with regard to speakers should always be the first consideration. The sound of the Z205's are the weakest aspect of these speakers. The sound is not bad, just not great. Another very important aspect to the sound is volume. The volume of the Z205's is outstanding. Considering their small size they are very loud. For most, these will be used to replace or augment laptop speakers. In my case, the Z205's outperform the onboard speakers of my new Sony Vaio laptop. All things considered, the sound is good and the volume great.Where these little babies shine is in the form factor and features departments! For forty bucks I seriously doubt there is a rival to the feature packed aspects of these speakers. Here's the list: Volume controls that control the laptop volume when connected to a computer and mp3/ipod volume when connected to a stand-alone device. 3.5mm input making these work not only with laptops but any device. The usb power can also be connected to any usb wall adapter making these stand-alone speakers in every sense of the word. Rubberized clip to instantly and securely clip to any laptop, which also doubles as a stand when not clipped. True plug-n-play connectivity with what appears to be an internal device driver. When first connected via usb the Z205 loads a driver onto your computer automatically. Finally, a carrying case is included. And not just any case but a case that has ample room for the speakers and a separate internal pouch for the usb cable. This may not seem like a big deal, but in fact, it is. The internal pouch keeps the cable from scratching and otherwise damaging the speakers. Very, very thoughtful on the part of Logitech.I've already used these speakers with my Sony Vaio laptop. An improvement to the onboard Sony speakers (which is saying something). And to my surprise I've also used these with my mp3 player connected to a usb wall adapter and standard 3.5mm input jack. You really get two very solid gadgets here for the price of one! 4.5 very solid stars overall. (5 stars because Amazon doesn't allow for a half-star rating.) Get these speakers! They won't disappoint!

Maybe I'm spoiled, but they aren't that great. I suppose they are fine for the price, but listening to your headphones through the headphone jack definitely won't be a great experience. The jack is VERY noisy. So, long story short...buy them if you are not going to be using headphones through the provided jack.

These are really nice speakers for my tv and the bass is alotbetter than my 350$ pair of bose speakers for my computer.had for well over 8 months and still in really good conditionand no broken speakers or anything and note that the speaker wires areREALLY SHORT. the front speakers wires are really short about 4 ft.so i went to radioshack and bought 2 rca couplers to extend the speakers a bit.the rear speakers are ok for a really small room that is about a collage dorm size.for me, the rear speakers are pretty short and i had to buy a 10ft rca extensioncable to extend them properly.i deffinitly reccommend you get rca extensions beforepurchasing these speakers.very satisfied with my purchase. 80$ well spent

while one could find louder amps and subwoofs this system does justice for home use and maybe some band uses. I would like to have had either a Coax or Optical digital connector for this thing as its price is outrageous to not give some of the additional perks for the system. Maybe some mounts for the wall would make this thing worth 6 stars and not 5.if you obtain the proper wiring for digital formats that are programmed into this beast you have one of the best rock boxes you can have on the market. The sub-woofer has an upper limit that is possibly just a bit low yet that might be a good thing as if it were to get higher levels you would be burning more than the 1000 watts to create the low booms that are sufficiently loud at the highest level.The quality that you get from the digital up-links is incredible and is hard to put words to as its just simply near perfect for what you use it for, were it music or movies... The speakers have no mounting screws or plates and thus a trip to the hardware store is probably required to mount these things I find as long as they aren't in the way were they are mounts aren't needed other than a simple amenity to a room.The design could possibly use some thought to compacting this thing as its very large (mostly the woofer) and you might have a hard time finding a place for that beast to be. There is also the fact of its weight and one needs some muscle to lug this thing around, I remember struggling up the 10 stairs in my house and saying to myself its got to be 80 lbs and then the stairs make it seem twice its weight... make sure you have a couple of people to haul it to make sure nothing drops and your out close to $400 worth of equipment (its better than a warranty outright to not break it and breaking your arms taking somewhere, the warranty doesn't cover your arms)otherwise a great system for completing that entertainment center you might be thinking about.

I was streaming a movie from Netflix on my Mac and, as is often the case, the volume was too low. I remembered that I had just received these speakers, so I opened my box and plugged them in. But the volume was the same. I tried pressing the increase volume button and saw that my Mac had adjusted the volume coming from the computer to equal the previous volume. In other words, my previously maxed out volume was now at half output. So I hit the volume increase button several times and was finally able to enjoy a streaming movie at a decent volume--with even more volume available.The sound quality is good enough for my discriminating ears. The music has more depth and punch and good left/right separation. Much, much richer than my now-tinny Mac speakers. I'll be using these speakers whenever I watch movies on my Mac. I'm very pleased with these speakers. At under $10, what's not to love?

I purchased these speakers at Walmart for 74.88 I needed a pair of new speakers and Logitech is the best at everything so I got them.When I got home I unpaked it plugged it in to my Kindle Fire and these are the best speakers ever, they are way way better than bose speakers.

These speakers exceeded my expectations based on their price. I'm no audiophile, but I am very happy with the sound quality on these speakers while listening to Pandora. They easily produce enough sound to fill my kitchen/dining room area where the computer is located, an open area of about 300 sq ft.I will be ordering another set for a computer in a different room.

Smaller than I expected, which is a plus. Great sound for such a compact speaker. Much, much, much better than my laptop speaker! Plan to use this little guy soon for a video presentation at my parents' 60th wedding anniversary celebration. (Yes, it works that well!) Attaches securely by clip to the top or side (wherever you wish) of laptop monitor. Can just pick up laptop and move from room to room with speaker playing. Comes with a handy carrying bag. Would definitely buy again. Sound is as good as more expensive and less portable speakers I have. Great buy for $20!!!

I really enjoy this speaker. The clamp is a good strength, I don't worry about it hurting my laptop screen. However Don't move much as it will fall off with too much movement, which I'd prefer than it breaking my screen because it's holding on too tight.It can get pretty loud, I rarely have my master volume past 20 on windows for a nice level of volume.Finally the quality of audio produced is very good, although the bass could have been better. However if you want bass, get a 2.1 speaker system. [I have the Creative Labs Inspire A200 for that]for the price, build quality, and sound quality. I'd buy another one when this one breaks down.

These speakers are great for what they are. They are a excellent upgrade over built-in laptop speakers and a welcome travel companion for watching movies or listening to music in a hotel room. I like the versatility of having a 3.5mm input which allows me to plug in my mp3 player instead of my laptop. The low price is great as well. Just don't expect to rattle the walls.

I ordered a pair of these for my laptop. They are excellent speakers for the price. $25.67 when I got them shipping included. I ordered another pair when I listened to them. Basic value, very solidly built, good looking on desktop, and best of all they sound great. I do not hesitate to recommend them.

Please take in consideration that I am more of a music than a movie person, so I bought these speakers for like 80% music and 20% movies, because I didn't want two separate setups. If you are like me, then read my review, it might help. I've had them for almost 6 months, so far this is what I think about them.---As soon as I connected them and played some music I was impressed, but not by the sound quality, but for the tons of 5 star reviews, I bought them just because I really though they will be up to my expectations, so many people can't be wrong, right?, boy I was wrong. The little speakers produce bad quality sound and the sub is not powerful enough and just rattles around, not tight and punchy as you'd expect from the big ass enclosure, when you crank the volume the little speakers will actually hurt your ears, so they are loud, but not pleasingly loud, they are missing so much definition, you cannot tell the difference between a bad quality MP3 and 24-bit FLAC, and anybody can tell by miles with my pair of Polks with the same audio files, and I am not to be considered an audiophile by any means, if I where probably wouldn't be writing this because I will be so far away from this speakers to begin with.My advise for music lovers:If you are looking at this system mostly for music, please go look for something else, like a pair of bookshelf Polks and some Onkyo or H/K stereo receiver, you will be glad you did, maybe you will spend a little more money or maybe twice, but trust me, it will be worth every one of your hard earned dollars. This Logitech subwoofer is made for movies, it is not accurate nor tight enough for music, same case with speakers, they lack too much definition, its so disappointing no matter what you throw at them, from 128 kbps MP3's to Apple Lossless to 24-bit FLAC, you cannot tell the difference, even with my Onkyo CD player, MP3's from my Mac sounded the same. This system is clearly not made for music fans. Also, my english may not be the best, not my main language anyways.My advise for movie lovers:I cannot complain too much about they sound they produce when watching a Bluray or DVD. Sounds from movies are not that complex as music instruments, usually voices, explosions, engines and sound effects will sound good enough thru this system, because the speakers and sub where made for this, they sound quite at home playing "007 Quantum of Solace", not mind blowing but enough.Nearly as a general rule, if you want the best sounding system for your money, is to avoid bundles, it is better to research a little and buy your own receiver, speakers and subwoofer separately, you'll end up with a much better sounding system and more appropriate to your needs. I learned that a few months ago.As I write this, my Logitech's are on sale.

I have great confidence in Logitech, but I was concerned when I found these at less than $100. I have absolutely no regrets:Sound quality (from my Xbox, no adapter required) is clear, even when loud.Plenty of volume for me. I can fill my small room with sound at about 55%.Matrix Mode is extremely helpful for me because my Xbox outputs only 2 channels. With Matrix mode, all the speakers play from 2 channels (which is what most devices use). But be aware it is not "true" surround sound. But it's not that big of a deal unless you're a professional.Like others say, be prepared to spend $5 on speaker cable extensions for the Rear speakers.The subwoofer is good. Don't expect the walls to shake, but it provides solid, powerful lows.Excellent Speaker set. If you want a simple speaker system with great quality without going into debt, look no further.

These speakers have excellent sound. The tone knob seems to either boost or cut the mids, and the overall sound is great. These are way better than the cheaper logitech speakers, so if you have an extra 10 bucks, get these instead.

I have had these speakers for the past 4 years or so and felt i would praise them on here. The sound quality is as good as it gets for their price and size. My biggest concern was how the sub would perform but i need'nt have worried. It booms and booms well. Not to much but not to little. The rest of the speakers perform equally as well. I would have to say though that the best thing about these speakers is their construction. They are little tanks. Case and point, I had my rear channel speakers mounted above a ceiling fan that was on. The cord got yanked and it pulled it down into the spinning fan blades and was batted into the wall. Didnt do a thing to the speaker. Put a nice little dent in the wall from where one of the corners hit though. After that i started referring to them as my "Shermans". I love these speakers and don't see replacing them anytime soon. Thanks Logitech.

These speakers are easy to hook up. Everything is color coded. The speakers are wall-mountable, but not the center channel. I wish the center channel could sit on your monitor, or be wall-mountable. I read some reviews that complain about the weak mesh over the satellites. They do seem weak, but none of them have ever ripped for the time I've had these.The subwoofer is definitely overpowering if you turn the subwoofer control all the way up. The subwoofer knob is on the back of the subwoofer, definitely inconvenient. Also, the lowest setting is still sometimes overpowering for some songs. There is also an annoying port noise when the speakers are turned up. The subwoofer can shake walls and desks. Not very much, but if you're playing some music pretty loudly, and you put your hand on the wall, it will be vibrating.The main speaker with controls is your front right speaker. This is a bit inconvenient, because if you wall-mount it, you have to reach over to control the volume. It would be better if there was a little control pad with volume and bass control. Also, there is a headphone jack on the main speaker, which is definitely convenient, but the thing about it is that when you plug in headphones, the volume knob nor the power button on the main speaker don't do anything for the headphone jack. Because of that, I have to go into my computer's volume settings.The satellite speakers will tip over if nudged a little bit. They don't stand up very well, but they are pretty sturdy, because I've knocked over my speakers plenty of times, and they all work fine. The rear speaker wires are too short, but that can be fixed with cheap extension cords from RadioShack or somewhere else. I believe the rear speaker wires are 15 feet. I'm not sure though.Now for the purpose of the speakers. These speaker have a pretty nice sound. The subwoofer definitely blends in nicely with the satellites. Though, I have to say they do lack a little bit of midrange. If you're not an audiophile it won't bother you at all. For movies, the center channel does help. All of the dialogue comes out of it. I guess it's supposed to represent a person talking to you from the front. The subwoofer is wonderful for action movies. All the explosions and bangs that come out of the subwoofer make you feel like you're really there.These speakers are excellent for gaming. I bought this set 3 years ago from amazon for $280 with free shipping...now they want almost $1000 for them....they are a great set of speakers, but not for $1000 dollars. Sound quality is up there with living room home theater systems. Probably the best speakers you can get for a computer. But don't pay amazon's $1k asking price....find them elsewhere for $300 - 400

I bought this speaker because the sound card module on my Toshiba laptop stopped working properly. Everything sounded like I had tin can speakers and singers sounded like chipmunks.I needed something that would over-ride the soundcard so speakers that plug in to the headphone jack wouldn't cut it. I was beginning to think I had to replace my laptop.Thankfully this little speaker rescued me. The single USB connection for power and digital audio overrides the built in soundcard and produces a rich sound (though not BOSE quality) that far exceeds the built in speakers on my laptop. I find the volume range to be good. I can hear whatever I'm listening to over the clatter of kitchen noise while I'm preparing meals with the volume level set below 50%. I've used it to listen to CD's, DVD's, mp3's and midi with good results.I'm very happy with my purchase.Thankfully Logitech still makes reliable products at a reasonable price.

This little speaker is pretty incredible in terms of sound, price, and versatility. It is extremely portable and is very easily hooked up. Without any equalization the bass is pretty lacking, however the driver that works with windows 7 has a adjustable bass boost. With this you can adjust which frequency to boost and how much gain you want to add. After these adjustments the bass response is quite shocking. If I dare say it compares to a full size 2.0 setup but does nt go as loud. The rest of the spectrum of sound is very smooth with some high end sparkle. And when you turn the bass boost up max volume decreases but will fill a small room. I may post up a vid if there is doubts.
