If you want booming bass and perfect highs this is the set of speakers for you. Easy to install. I hooked them up with a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card. I have three volume controlls and if you set them all at 70% it will blow you out of the room. If you want the best at a resonable price this is it.Tech High Owner for 2 Monthsdo'nt miss your chance.

These speakers are the absolute best that money can buy. There is only 1 other system in the same quality range and thats the klipsh pro media 5.1 but the logitech z5500 has built in decoders for 5.1 digital playback which makes it the better buy. They also have the highest peak of 1000 watts that Ive ever seen on a pc speaker system and the quality and fidelity of sound that comes out of them stays crisp and dosent distort one bit even on extreme levels of volume. The sub absoutly rocks the house and there is more than enough cord length to set the system up how ever you would like to. All you need is a great soundcard to really optimize the sound from these baby's and you will never need another system for you pc I promise you

I bought these speakers about 4 days ago and have been quite pleased from the word go. The grandparents went to work today and I tested them at peak power. Frankly, I was amazed. I was able to clearly hear my music from the back deck, across an 1800sq. ft. rambler house. More than enough power than I will ever need. Quality of sound is amazing as well. I bought these to hook up to my pc for my music and my entertainment center with my DVD player and gaming systems. Very, very happy with my purchase.Few drawbacks I've noticed..The subwoofer doesn't have as good of a range limit as I would like. It tends to produce a good portion of mid-range. Also, the sub doesn't have a great sound controler on it, so even at the lowest setting, you're getting a good amount of bass. Last and most anouying of the cons, it the short range of the speaker cords. They work, but I wasn't able to hang the speakers in the corners of my room like I had wanted and extending them won't work because of a drastic drop in power. (I tried)All and all I am quite pleased. Great power, especially for only 70watts and 140peak. Outstanding cost - performance ratio. =)Side note.This is the third product I have purchased from Logitech and this is the third product I am thrilled with. =)

I just purchased these speakers from Amazon - ordered them on Sunday and had them in my hand by Tuesday. The sound is amazing, you don't know what your missing if your stuck with a basic 2-speaker setup (like I was).You can plug the speakers into your DVD Player, TV or game system (adapter included). To top it off, I paid $55.60 for an awesome surround-sound speaker system, compared to if I went to Best Buy I could pay anywhere from $90 - $200+. Bottom line, buy these speakers!

They are good. I like the way the connections are made. Unlike other hometheater systems, each speaker connection is made with jacks and labelled them so that the connection for each speaker goes in its allocated socket which produces clarity in the sound and avoids frequency variations. Once again it is worth for the price

I've had lots of different audio/speaker systems in my (56 year)lifetime, but this Logitech Z-5500 speaker system hooked into my PC is giving me audio experiences I've never had before, and I've only had it up and running for three days! Old songs become new as all kinds of previously unheard subtleties are revealed as one listens. What great pleasure. (Hearing Issac Hayes' "Walk On By" just now prompted me to write this review...wow.) This system is worth every penny.The reviews I read here on Amazon were right on the mark...thanks for helping me select this system.

Lots of volume with good high/low frequency separation, but a poor quality stand mechanism hurts functionality. Works best on a powered hub with the speakers secured on a surface. Otherwize, speaker tended move and audio cuts out at high volume.

I upgraded from a smaller set of Logitech 5.1's that I thought were very good sounding, but the 5500's blow them away! All of the options are great for setting them up for the size of your room and listening environment. I checked out a lot of different systems and these 5500's sounded far better than speakers that were twice the price, this included Bose and Klipsh (sp?).My home theater system is a Sony and I thought I could do no better, but now I am thinking another set of 5500's for the living room!Just AWESOME sound!!!

For under $20, I really wasn't expecting much. I only hoped I'd get lucky and they would sound a wee bit better than my last speakers, which were the same price.But they sound great! If they had been twice the price, I would not have been at all disappointed!

These speakers rock! The sound is very crisp and clean. I heard background singers on my cd's I have never heard before with either my Bose speakers or Sennheiser headset. All of the plugs and connecting cords are permanently attached to the back of the speakers and are much thicker than most. In addition, the power plug is a normal 3 prong instead of a fat dc converter. If you are looking for booming bass that fills a room these are not for you, but if you are looking for a quality pair of desktop speakers with clear detailed sound that also work great with a walkman or mp3 I highly recommend them.

I used to be the biggest fan of these; I got 2 of them, one for my mom and one for me.But they could be a lot better. The first problem is with the satellite speakers. They get very loud for their range, but they need more kick. They've got plenty of mids to highs, but in the mid to mid-low range the don't do anything. Any bass-ish drum type sounds, when heard right next to a satellite, sound like a mix between a "bop!" and a "bip!". Basically it sounds too high pitched from the satellite itself for a drum. I believe Logitech tries to compensate for this by using the subwoofer....for instance I've found it goes up to at least 200hz, maybe beyond that. My friend's system leaves anything above 110hz to the satellites.The other thing is how focused the subwoofer's sound is. Its very blurry, making basses sound rather muddy. I don't have a big problem with this, its really only noticeable in some songs. Plus I like bass a lot, which this woofer has PLENTY of. So over all, even with the subwoofer's faults of going to high for its range and for blurring the things it does play, I still love it.The fact that the satellites leave anything around 220hz and down to the subwoofer is not comforting. If they went just 100hz lower, they'd be literally perfect. Granted they get _incredibly_ loud, but they'd do so much better to have more oomph and kick to them.I was reading the other day that a system with 2 speakers per satellite, for instance the Klipsh 5.1 system, would be better. In each satellite, one of the speakers covers the mids to highs, the other the mids to lows. Their subwoofer also has 2 8" drivers, as opposed to the z-5500's one 10" driver. So the Klipsh won't have as much wall shaking bass as the z-5500, but all around, from bass to highs, the sound will be more precise and clear. I haven't actually heard the Klipsh Surround System, but purely based on the 2 speakers/satellite logic that cover only the frequencies they're best at, they should be better. If I were to buy a system right now, I'd get the Klipsh Surround System. If you care about how your music sounds, go with them.On the other hand, the control unit has everything one could want as far as controls go except for a subwoofer-satellite cutoff meter. Its got DPL2, THX, and DTS96/24 decoding. Very nice; its too bad the Klipsh don't have these and such a variety of inputs.

I had a pair of JBL's that came with my compaq computer and wanted a little more base for my music. I thought these would be perfect and were a great price. Well right off the bat I have to go back to the previous posts that warned of a 'Hollow base' sound. It's not just hollow, it's vibrating and hollow. Not an attractive sound. The two side speakers did not have the rich sound as the JBL's. But at the end of the day I had more base less richness is sound and an irratating noise called a base speaker. You can cut the output from the computer down to about 70% and you have a decent set of speakers. Price is Equal to Value on this one. (((Lesson learned))) Spend the bucks to get a nice set of computer speakers. I thought I would go the cheap route and lost.

These Speakers Rock. The Bass driver is plentiful and the 5 sattilites are sick. The only thing I don't like is that when I bought the speakers they were 49.99 then 2 days after I bought them they fell to 39.99! Great for everything including action movies and games! These things are great, sure the cords are short but hey they sell extentions for 5$ and I didnt even need those, and just so you know the ADAPTER IS INCLUDED! Great purchase!

I got these very cheap with a coupon so they totalled below 3 dollars shipped. They are not really worth even that. In iTunes, I have set the bass on its absolute lowest settings and I can still barely hear non-bassy sound. The bass interference is so heavy that I cannot even hear the words to songs without modifying the equalizer heavily. I called the company about it and they said that it was typical for the model.

These computer speakers are incredible, connect them to a PC, XM radio, IPOD, or a CD player. All wires are included just plug them in and your ready to rock. The sound quality is better than any PC computer speakers I have ever heard for this price range, these speakers should have a higher price tag for the quality you are getting. They have alot of power for what they are rated, the subwoofer also adds alot of bass to the sound, input high quality audio and you will be impressed by what you hear!

I purchased this system for my laptop computer. In addition, I bought the creative sound blaster card for my laptop. It gives me unbelievable sound and ways of adjusting speaker volume and surround sound the way I like it. I would never think that such a quality of sound would come from a system priced so cheap. Unbelievable!

I like to sometimes play my music a little loud and these speakers handle it just fine, even with a song that has major bass to it. The design is nice too.... I really appreciate the headphone jack located on the front of the speaker it makes it easier than trying to fool around in the back of the computer to plug headphones in. Also the sub woofer is not so big that you have no place to go with it. I was worried about the quality because the low price but Logitech has come through again!

I recently purchased the Logitech Z-5500 speaker system to use with my Sony VAIO desktop, Sony dvd player, and 20gb iPod. For me, sound quality was as important as connection options - and this set does not disappoint in either regard. I have the included speaker wires going into my 5.1 sound card, a Monster Cable Digital Optical Cable running to my Sony dvd player, and a 3.5mm cable connecting my iPod to the speakers. As other readers correctly point out, the sound is incredible right out of the box. Though I'm hardly an audiophile, these speakers sound far superior to the Logitech X-530 5.1 system (harldy a bad speaker system!) that came with my PC.As good and useful as the wireless remote is, I believe the best feature of this entire system is the Digital SoundTouch control center. Beyond connectivity options, the control center is easy-to-use and offers numerous sound settings and adjustments.I also wanted to point out was how great Logitech's support website is. The pages are very thorough and include photos of the entire "installation" steps. Hats off to Logitech for providing ways to improve a speaker system so easily.Lastly, a final thought on the system's volume. As other readers point out - it is simply thunderous. At half volume the sound is more than any listener needs to enjoy the experience. A 10" subwoofer is ridiculous on paper, but trying to find a suitable place to position it may be challenging if you haven't thought ahead about this step. And make sure to follow the instructions and keep it (and its magnet) away from any electronic components.With that said, the price of these speakers has been falling and I consider them a steal for the $220 I spent on them. Perhaps like a sucker I bought the 3-year warranty, but thus far I have had no problems with them and look forward to years of satisfying listening.

What an excellent package! The sound quality is the best I've heard from any portable speakers of this size. The bass is shockingly good - like the other reviews say. Going forward, I'll never again consider the battery operated or power brick options - totally unnecessary. As a bonus, the case for these is really well done and packs them quite efficiently into the size of a hardcover book. These will easily fit into my rolling laptop briefcase. I've been searching for a solution like this so we don't have to use headphones all the time to watch movies on our laptops - hotel rooms, travel, etc. I think these are the perfect solution - and should last - the build quality is excellent and with such a good case, they should last quite a while.

For the price, the sound is quite good. I also like that they use a standard AC plug instead of an AC adapter and you can actually turn them completely off when away from the computer without having to uplug the adapter. Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Sound quality is very good, not having another power adapter is great, and these are small and light enough to easily carry them in a pocket of my laptop case. I've also experienced the distortion and "speaker dancing" at high volume like other reviewers, but feel these things are reasonable given the very light weight and that the power available from the USB port is limited....in everyday use these things are not an issue, no distortion at reasonble volume and I either put the speakers on a surface with friction or put a book or something similar on the cords if the speakers are moving. Agree that the USB cord to the computer is too short for many situations, corrected this with an extension but it would nice if one were included, also the buttons are too stiff and require a firm push. I recently switched to Linux and the speakers worked fine as soon as they were plugged in....the buttons did not function initially, but I was able to fix that with some minor configuration tweaking....FWIW this was with Ubuntu Linux, but they would probably work with many other distros also.

I used this system to connect to my XBOX 360 and a 50" Panasonic Plasma. The sound is incredible!!! Room shaking bass, high, clear highs. The THX certification says it all.The only draw bakc is that it has limited connectivity. One optical in, one coax digital in, and and IPOD connection.If you design your entertainment system right this set will do it all.I use my XBOX 360 as a DVD player and for games obviously. I had to buy and Optical cable splitter so that I could also connect my DirectTV. Small inconvenience, and well worth it.You will not find a better 5.1 system for this price. This is already my second set of Logitech speakers.

I've owned this sound system for a few months now and am thoroughly satisfied with it. The sound is clean (distortion free), especially in the lower frequencies. The massive subwoofer produces just the right amount of deep bass sounds without being overwhelming, much less causing distortion.I listen to classical music and Barbershop harmony, occasionally "Big Band" music. The Logitech Z-5500 handles all ranges very well.The separate sound control unit is a bit cumbersome and takes up space; however, the remote control which comes with it. compensates for the slight inconvenience.The system sounds great, I recommend it and the price is not bad at all.William StaubachRotonda West, FL

I don't think i've ever been moved to write a product review before, but i love these things. They're the perfect addition to a laptop. No bothering with a transformer and a bunch of wires...you can plug in just one, if you're working with mono or both if you need stereo. Run off USB power. Plug it in and go. The carrying case is cool, they're light (and if you want really light, just take one), the sound is pretty good (though obviously this isn't audiophile stuff), and they can get loud. Decent bass for something this size and price range. You'll get some distortion if you drive them too hard, so don't. I use my laptop for a lot of digital audio editing, and i picked these up to help teach a class on editing, and i really needed a way that the class could hear what we're doing, and these fit the bill perfectly...be nice to have a tone or bass adjustment, but that's no big deal (you can use an equalizer on the cptr). Overall, a great product. One funny thing...if you have them loud, on the right surface, playing something with a lot of bass, they'll wander around like those clay-mation figures...set them on a magazine and you're fine...

I had just gotten a lap top and I was tired of the small sound that came from it. The Logitech v20 speakers sound great, look sleek, and are small enough to carry with you when you travel. I highly recommend them!

I bought this system for my girls' computer so they could watch DVDs and enjoy 5.1 surround sound. Retail stores sell this unit for over $100 -- you can't beat the online price. It produces excellent sound for 3 times the price.If you really want to take advantage of it, upgrade your computer from the integrated sound card on the motherboard -- Creative's X-Fi Xtreme Audio card is an excellent choice, and very inexpensive.

By far the best computer speakers I've ever owned. These were an upgrade from my 1st gen Harmon/Kardon Soundsticks. They sound amazing. I play a lot of computer games and these speakers let me feel the action. I use them with my iMac connected via optical cable. The bass is very full and deep which I love and all other frequencies are very clear. I love the design. Perfect for watching TV and DVDs on my iMac too in 5.1 surround. When shopping for new speakers for my iMac I was debating between this system and the Bose Companion 5 system. I never heard the Bose system, but I can't see how their 3 speaker setup for $400 could possibly sound better than these. A+++++

I have had these speakers for about a year now and they are AMAZING. First, I have them hooked into my computer so my MP3's come out amazind in surround sound. I also have my Xbox 360 optically connected, so I can switch to that to have surround that way. Lastly, I'm a musician and I have my Roland X8 plugged in through the digital coax audio. I don't need to ever unplug anything, just use the remote to switch between the inputs. Seriously, this product is incredible.

I recently purchased these speakers from amazon.com. Fast Shipping. The Speakers sound great. I went from a cheap 3 speaker system to this 5.1 system. The sound is crystal clear. Awesome speakers for the price.

I have these speakers attached to my tv and the sound quality is simply awesome. Don't let the price fool you, they perform just as well if not better then most brands I have listen to in a higher price range. They also have these at Sams Club at a good price.

The sound is not optimal but for the price (around $25 shipped), you can't complain. It's crappy if you don't use sound EQ, but if you use the one for your sound card (not iTunes), it sounds quite acceptable (way better than the laptop speakers)

This is a great product for a moderate price. The sound is really good. I connected it to my comp within minutes. The bass is a bit strong, but on the whole the system is quite loud even at half volume. Great buy.

The sound is very deep from the sub-woofer and clear from the satellites. I was overjoyed with the quality, but was ignorant of the fact that one needs a sound card to use all 5 speakers. I used only two satellites until I bought a Creative Audigy 2 sound card for laptops (strongly recommended, roughly $100) and now I am reaping the benefit of fuller sound, all around. I am giving it 4 because it's not the best sound system you can get for your computer, but if you want an upgrade from any stock speakers, it will be a huge improvement. I would give it a 5 in its class.

Logitech hit it right on the mark this time. These are excellent speakers for the money. I have heard some much higher priced 7.1 systems that wouldn't hold a candle to these. They will rattle the dishes easily in my 16'x21' den /kitchen combo. I highly recommend these speakers over any thing in this price range or higher.

Good speakers for the price. Can't bump your trunk on these 26Watt speakers. Have to plug in the woofer so it's not portable. Otherwise, it's a good buy.

Although i have it connected to my video games and watch DVDs using the speakers, it sounds as good as all the expensive surround sound systems. You will feel proud of purchasing this item because it has quality sound, and the for the price its being sold why not? I will soon be connecting it to my PC, which is going to sound 10 times better than the stock speakers, in order to make room for the Logitech Z-5300e. This will be my surround sound theater system. It all depends how much you want to spend on a sound system, the higher you go the better the sound well with Logitech.
