I've owned mine for over 2 years now, and it works great. It's a wonderful deal for the price.However, when no sound signal is present, a clearly audible hum can be heard from the subwoofer. This ambient noise will probably throw off a lot of audiophiles, even I can't stand having it on without anything playing.

I bought this because it was economical and because some of the other reviewers praised it. I didn't need hi-fidelity. I just wanted to be able to play audio for laptop-based presentations in a medium-sized room. This is not the speaker system you want for that.Steve

I upgraded from the older Logitech 6800 series. I loved them and felt it was time to get a newer/sylish pair. These are literally the best that Logitech has to offer! If you are looking to be a serious gamer, look no further. You certainly will need to have a nice sound card for these bad boys. The sound is pretty intense. Whether watching movies, playing games or simply listening to tunes, you will not be disappointed!!!!When I purchased them a couple of years ago, they ran around $300. This price is a steal. A must buy!!!

For the current price it is a killer deal. I previously had the older system(forget the real name) it was 380 RMS wattage however. The new system is noticeably better, the sound is amazing, the only con at all is that the sub seams to be missing just a little power... I plan on opening it up and see if i can crank it up just a little. The additional cable options are great, I recommend the fiber optics.

This is a very reasonably priced, great system. I have purchased two other Logitech systems previously and this one did not disappoint. I have my computer and XBox 360 hooked up to it and the sound quality is amazing.My 360 is hooked in with an optical cable and the 5.1 sound gives me an edge in games like COD 4 and Halo 3, where I can hear footsteps coming from specific directions, leading to many knives in opponent's grills.I highly recommend to ang gamer who can spend a little bit of money. It is worth it and will increase your enjoyment for years to come.

-The item is small. It has fashion and appeal. It is lightweight and small enough to leave about in any room. It has great bass and mid-range sound. For under thirty dollars you will never beat this pc-audio complete setup. I will buy one more for my 2003-server.

I needed speakers that use headphones so my kids can play their games on the computer while I watch t.v. It is working out great. Plus, when I want to listen to music, the sound is clear and it can go pretty loud. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I use my PC speakers to keep me entertained all day while I work. When I want to blast a song, I can turn these up without all the distortion usually associated with PC speakers. We're rockin' here at the office!

I've been using a set of these on my workstation for over a year now. Great setup for the price. Recently I bought another set for my TV that I use for gaming. Sounds awesome!Only downfall is Amazon's pricing shifts... I've seen in fluctuate $70 within an hour...

Although I could not keep this product (it was not my computer that the speaker hooked up to) I did enjoy the quality sound, look and overall appeal of the Logitech R-20 2.1 Speaker System. The slim line design would go great with any computer system especially if you do not have alot of desk space. The speakers are slim and produce alot of clear quality sound. I enjoyed this product very much.

These are an amazing set of portable speakers if you want to use them for watching movies or online video. If you are thinking of playing music on them, DO NOT BUY THESE, instead look for something a bit more expensive.

Speakers sound really nice. The remote control has an individual sub level control so you can crank up the bass or take some out as you see fit. Definitely enough power.The display on the controller is viewable from a variety of angles, something that wasn't the case on some of the other lower power models.Crisp, clean sound.

My PC is in a small library, and I didn't need a huge sound system. I just wanted to have a basic, decent speakers for my newly purchased HP desktop. So I got Logitech R-20, and I am totally happy about the purchase. The system is poweful enough to listen to music and watch movies. I played with the equalizer on the PC and it sounds great. Amazon had the best value, even less than ones listed on eBay, and I am so happy about the purchase.

I just spent $1100 for a Toshiba Notebook which I really like. The internal speaker sound on it is OK like most laptop internal speakers & acceptable to me but I wanted to get a louder, pokier sound for when I play back downloads.These speakers are perfect for me. I got these brand new on Ebay for $16 and change & you should be able to get these under $20 New online if you look around. These speakers do exactly what I wanted them to do. They are louder, pokier & crisper then my internal speakers & are powered on by a simple USB cord. Nothing else needed. Plus very importantly, they are very small & light & have their own small stands. When it comes to listening properly to CDs & DVDS, etc., I rely on my fairly extensive sound system and speakers to listen to, I wouldn't use my laptop. So what I'm trying to say is, if you just want to boost your laptop sound to a better louder, pokier, sound, these are perfect. But if you are looking for the sound you'd get from an expensive audiophile sound system, I'm sure you could get better on much more expensive, bigger & heavier laptop speakers.

I recently bought these speakers from "Computer Brain"* and they were easy to unpack when they arrived. They were also easy to set-up, it took about 15 mins and the look alot better in person than in the pics here. The sound quality was good for how much they cost, but the bass is a little low. I am playing music through winamp on vista /w virtual surround sound turned on. Basically they do what i want them to, sounds for web surfing, playing mp3s and maybe a game or 2 and thats it. I would recommend the speaker to anyone who uses their computer for basic things like mentioned above. If you're a heavy gamer then get some $200 speakers, you'll be happier.Pros:1. Wall mountable2. Good sound / Price ratio3. Nice looking4. Easy set-upCons:1. Kinda low bass2. Kinda flimsey/light-weight3. distortion at very high levels*I had an AWEFUL experience with "Computer Brain", will NOT buy from THEM again and would recommend you buy these speakers from someone else.

I won't give these a very bad rating because I wasn't able to take full advantage of them. The first let down about this system was apparently somebody had already returned them; the crudely raveled wires and torn box made it obvious - quite appalling that they would put it back on the new product shelf at Walmart (this of course has nothing to do with the product itself). Regardless, I was quite happy to hook these up, but the result was somewhat of a let down. I configured the sound on my PC to support 6 channel 5.1 and fired them up - the sound was garbled by an immensely overpowered bass and confused by the different volume levels between back and front satellites. I wasn't going to pack them up just yet because i knew i could tinker with them and find a way to make them work perfectly. Regardless of how low I set ALL the bass settings and volume levels in the speakers and my PC, it would not sound good at all. The range of sound was somewhat dry, and some mids were completely absent. In fact, it made my little Creative SBS 2.1 system sound like a Bose in comparison (I highly recommend that system BTW). I also messed with the settings on my PC with high hopes to turn the system around, but to no avail.

I finally purchased this speaker system after looking at it and others similiar to it for over a year up to this point. The average price in stores was between $80-$100. An independant seller through Amazon offered them for only $52.00 (plus shipping)! Considering the top-notch quality, this price is amazing! The system sounds excellent. Anything from DVDs to music CDs sounds great through this system. Now I enjoy using my computer for everything. The sound is so lush, full, crisp, and balanced as it really carries through the room. Excellent buy. I highly recommend this system by Logitech even if you don't find this system for as cheap as I did. . . it is worth any reasonable price.

Wow! I bought this set specifically for my home computer because I listen to music all the time while on the internet. I thought it was about time I purchased a real set of speakers and I most definitely made a good choice.The bottom line: you are not going to get a better 5.1 surround system for the price. The subwoofer pounds and the satellite speakers are crystal clear. Buy this system. You won't regret it.

I've had the z-5500 system for a month now and all I can sy is WOW! Hands down, this is the best 5.1 computer speaker system I've heard. It has plenty of power and the control module lets you taylor the sound to your liking. This system would also be great for a home theatre setup.

This system is not as powerful as I had expected (hence the 4 star rating), but it sounds good and clean. It is great for a small to medium sized room like an office or bedroom. Good overall buy for the money.

As many other people before have said, these speakers are the best buy for their price range. The bass is amazingly good, and I like the side-firing subwoofer. The permanently connected wires are a pain when I want to move the speakers around, but it's not a huge problem. The set goes very loud without distortion, and the sound is very high quality. One thing that I did not know before the set arrived was that a RCA to 3.5mm adapter is included. (So you can plug the set into your DVD player/home theater, etc.)Overall I am extremely pleased with this product.

There is no much to add about this awesome speaker system. The speakers are very clear and crispy sound, while the sub is strong enough to shake any small-medium room. Since I live in an apartment (third floor) I actually had to create a custom anti-noise system made out of box pieces because the vibration produced by the sub was too strong that people living downstairs (and not only exactly beneath me) felt it (using only half of the speaker level).FYI, I have readed that the analog-digital convertors and the DTS and Dolby Digital processor chips are Cirrus, a quite well reputed brand included in high quality audiophile equipments. I personally find the DTS codifier amazing: Try it with a DTS included sound DVD movie and activate the function (for instance HERO and the flying arrows scene). I've heard other systems in a similar range-price and the difference is so evident even if you aren't audiophile. The systems components are really high quality. I strongly recommend to use only optical-fiber cable when watching movies.I would conclude that this system is excelent for movies in a small or medium room (I haven't tried yet with games but I'd say it'll be awesome). It'd work that good for larger rooms if the surround speakers were bigger and more middly, but the sub can fill out this gap. Music is very good also, but there is an evident lack of medium range that is missed sometimes. However and surprisingly this "fault" gives the music a very deep clarity which is not so common in lower-quality music equipments.I bought this as a Home-Theater system and I don't have plans in using it for games right now. It has fullfilled all my expectations. My decision was mainly based on comments seen in many websites, and also its hardware components and the THX certification. Just look around and you'll find out more than 90% are positives. I just add myself to the majority. Enjoy it!

It's an inexpensive and decent speaker system. It has a headphone jack which is a nice feature. One thing I don't like about it is that, when on Skype, there is too much bass (can't be adjusted), so the conversation is difficult. But music sounds OK. It's a basic speaker system, so don't expect too much from it, though.

Great sound quality. I'm using it as a surround sound system for my fairly small bedroom. Provides an excellent listening experience for both music and video games. Makes XBOX 360 games sound amazing as if your in the game. The subwoofer adds a nice amount of bass to music. Highly recommend this speaker system.

These speakers are a good product for the money. Clear sound, doesn't take up much desk space...love having the output/input jacks on the front of the speaker. I had some other speakers and ordered these for a co-worker and ended up giving him my "old" speakers (which were only 1 yr old, and in the same price range)and keeping these!

This is a great sound system. It sounds amazing with music, movies, games or tv, really anything you can put through it. I have my laptop, tv and PS2 hooked up to it, currently. Unlike some people, I have not experienced any popping sounds coming from the speakers when I turn off or on other electronic devices. I don't know if its because I have the speakers plugged into a surge protector, but my speakers have worked flawlessly.

I feel these speakers are a very good value as they sound nice and full - not tinny or cheap. Cant find any faults in the sound. It is also very nice to plug them directly into the wall with no heavy power supply. Very happy with them - and with the fast free shipping. Buy with confidence.

After weeks of research on computer speakers, I had purchased the Z-5500s. Living in a college dorm, I have seen first hand the power that these speakers are capable of. Loud bass, great sound quality, and several different inputs. For instance, my Xbox 360 is plugged in the Digital Optical port, so that I can get get Dolby Digital 5.1 when I play games, and can also get the 5.1 audio with my computer. Another nice feature is the music port on the control pod. It allows someone to plug another device into the system, without plugging it into the back of the pod. Useful for when a friend brings over his iPod and play some of his/her music.Well worth every penny.

You get what you pay for. For best sound with iTunes I found that the 'Treble Booster' Equalizer setting is needed. Louder than my Thinkpad speakers but I'm afraid to compare the quality until this transaction is no longer visible on my online bank statement.

These speakers a nice for the price. I already own a pair of Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1s. I tested them back to back when I first got the Z-5500s in this afternoon. Really good but not great. The highs aren't all that nice. But like the title says, I got this to watch movies on the TV and it's great. Wonderful speaker system. Couldn't recommend it more (since the Klipsch Ultras are discontinued).

Very happy with these speakers. The base rumbles the highs are certainly loud enough. Package is extremely heavy and comes with a warning to keep the subwoofer atleast 2 feet from computers and monitors.

Now I'm not one to over-hype a product like some others might but this 5.1 speaker system isn't bad for the $70 minus $10MIR. Good sound but not too powerful (70-140 total watts)... but more than enough for my media center desktop. Not a big fan of the WIRED remote control but that's not a huge dealbreaker for the price. Overall I'm pleased but not overwhelmed. I'm just hoping these will last me more than 5 years when I'll be ready to start upgrading everything.

AT first I wanted to return the speakers, because the bass sounded awful. After spending some time trouble shooting, I figured out how to adjust settings on media player speaker/base/equalizer options to make the speaker sound better. So now I am happy with them, for the price they are, I would recommend them.

I have had these speakers for about a month and they sound really good. I don't have a sound card that will play all of them...The center speaker doesn't work because my sound card only has a set up for 5 speakers; however the five that do play sound pretty good and the price was great. Guess I will be ordering a new sound card that has the 5.1 capabilty. I am sure Amazon will be competetive on price. I will have to check that out to see. Real good speakers...Great price when you take out the Amazon Chase card... you get thirty dollars off the sale price!!!

These speakers are amazing. I had them for a couple of days and then gave them to my mom for Christmas. My friend also got these without consulting with me and he loves them! They can be hooked up to three different sources (regular jack, coax, and something else) and it's complete surround sound. My friend hooked it up to his PS3 and his TV and his computer. It has amazing sound and cool features (like test each speaker to make sure it's working) It also comes with a remote.The only cons I can think of is that the subwoofer is huge! It's a pretty big system, but a pretty big sound comes out of it as well!

As other people have said, the bass is a little overwhelming and there's really no way to turn it down ... but I like the loud bass. The only problem is that I live in a dorm and it bothers my neighbors, so that is problematic.
