I had recently purchased a new Dell Inspiron 620 computer and my then current speakers were not doing the job. Received these speakers a few days ago. I am satisfied that these speakers are an improvement from the built in monitor speakers and my previous set, which did not have a volume button. Because I will be using these on my desk, close to my computer, I probably will not be increasing the volume beyond the 9 to 11 o'clock position on the dial. Although I have not cranked the volume up, I am sure that they could get plenty loud if I did but I have no reason to for the purpose that I use them for. The tone dial needs an improvement. I didn't notice much difference in tone from treble to bass.

I got these speakers since I was looking for a cheap set for my desktop. When I used them, I must say I was impressed for the price.They sound very good, and can get rather loud as well. The tone knob is an interesting aspect I've never had before. I found it useful, as some music sounded better with more or less, depending.The only downfall I found was that if I used the built in headphone jack, there was a low, quiet buzzing sound. It was unnoticeable when there was a lot of sound coming through, but it was noticeable during quiet times, such as quiet segments of a movie. Overall I was very happy with these speakers and I would recommend them if you're looking for good pair of cheap speakers.

If you're planning to use these speakers for a computer, look somewhere else. I recommend the Klipsch ProMedia.Imagine the worst and cheapest sound quality possible, and you'll hear these speakers. I have a 5.1 audio input as well.For a TV, these might be a little better..Giving it three stars for the many speakers it comes w.

I picked this up at a good price and have been impressed at how loud and crisp sound is from this speaker. This speaker is small, light, and will easily clip on just about any notebook. You just plug it in w/ the included USB cable and clip it on your notebook and you are good to go. It can stand on its on as well and also has a 3.5mm headphone jack for using it with other media devices like an mp3 player. It is pretty loud and I found it comfortable keeping the volume around 30%.The only ways I think this product could improve on is by not obstructing the webcam since the Logitech logo clip is right in the middle and will block the webcam unless you slide it over a little to the sides or unclip it. I think instead of a single clip, they could have used two set apart to not block the webcam and make the clip even sturdier on the notebook.The other way this product could improve is by providing a better way to play music from the 3.5mm jack because you need to have it plugged in via USB to your computer to provide power to play from a media player (provide an AC to USB wall charger adapter maybe?)Other than that, this product does deserve 5 stars as it definitely solves the low speaker problem most of us have with our notebooks and does it in a really functional way.

These speakers are really not good. These will not be better than your computers internal speakers (actually worse), but if you need remote speakers, if think they are fine. Gave three stars because it is hard to be upset with a $15 selling price. I was not expecting the best sound, just something a little better. Just me 2 cents.

These are some fantastic speakers. I don't know how they get so much sound out of something this small. It's nice that you can use headphones with them or play your mp3 through them.

I purchased this laptop speaker at Target a month ago. So far it is pretty good, small enough to fit in a pocket of a laptop bag and I like how the speakers are pointing directly towards you. There is one negative observation I've made. When I am trying to watch DVD movies the volume of the sound is not as loud as watching a youtube clip. Not sure if it has to do with the movie itself or the speakers but that is one observation I have made. And yes, I have checked the volume setting.I've made the same observation with the Logitech USB Laptop Speaker Z305 which I had prior to these. One of the speakers on Logitech USB Laptop Speaker Z305 got damaged while I was carrying it my backpack.But overall it is a descent speaker and certainly worth the money.

So I had been looking for a new speaker set up for my Room. (small room). I used to have the JBL CREATURE 2.1 Speakers which were Great, But after many years I decided It was time for a new set up. I looked everywhere at 2.1 systems and 5.1 systems. Looked up reviews. and videos. Unboxings. Everything. It was originally looking for a 2.1 But saw this set and it seemed like it would be worth a try. I have had it for about a month and I love it. Seeing my Movies in 5.1 has changed my life lol. Never going back to 2.l.. I must say though that if you do buy a 5.1 system make sure you have a 5.1 sound card in order to take advantage for the surround sound. or else. you'll just have a crappy set up. u wont get a real surround sound experience. These are def good speakers and they sound great. Watch them with any action movie such as black-hawk down or some similar titles and they sound like ur in a Theater with speakers worth Thousands. BE SURE TO SET UP PROPERLY!. You can check out DOLBYLABS set up recommendations ONLINE. FOR THE MONEY> THE SOUND DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER!!!

I received these speakers today and started trying them out right away. First off they're cute as a button. If you want speakers that will look stylish and unobtrusive on your desk or to be used with your laptop then they're for you.Like the information says you have a USB cord for power. I like that. No need for external power. I'm not sure WHY you need an external input for your iPod because I would presume the same PC/Mac you have the speakers hooked up to most likely have your iTunes software. Maybe not. It isn't that way at work, however, the power of the speakers isn't powerful enough for me to care. Speaking of power....Power is why I gave them a 4. The sound was very, very clear. When I had iTunes and my PC volume levels up full blast the sound was pretty good when it comes to clarity. I wasn't impressed with volume though. If you want to listen to your music from a distance you'll have to look elsewhere. Want killer sound for games? These speakers aren't for you. I also like that you can "store" the cords in the back of the speakers but it isn't a perfect situation. I would really like to have seen the ability to unplug the speakers from each other.Overall I like them. The convenience of USB is nice. The clarity is very good. The price is right.

I read several reviews for these speakers and decided to purchase them to use with a very small notebook.They are amazing. Tiny but with a great sound. I have yet to hear any laptop of any size except the MacBook Pro which packs a better sound than these speakers. For anyone who wants to listen to radio, video, or other audi, these are a "must-buy" item.

My Toshiba Satellite A355 had speakers that were barely audible. These speakers put out a good volume of sound, sound good and have remained firmly attached to the top of my opened laptop.

These speakers are absolutely amazing. The sound quality is superb, they get extremely loud (I never have a reason to go over halfway, even then is pretty loud!) and the setup could not be easier. You simply plug in the audio jack, then plug in the wall outlet, and you are good to go. No install necessary, not even a USB cord is needed.They come with a volume nob, an awesome Bass Tuning nob, plus a built-in jack on the front of the unit for your headphones! These are the best speakers I have ever owned, and for the price, there is no reason NOT to own these!

I got it from the Logitech site and not from Amazon but they are very impressive. They produce very good sound, they are also beautiful to look at and are compact in size to be placed next to the laptop.The bass is a bit tinny but I didn't expect anything more from it. The sound is clear and it can go to high volumes without making the music distorted.It was a supposed upgrade from the in-built laptop speaker and I would say it is good value for the money ($11).

This is my review of 3 portable, USB powered, laptop speakers I've received recently:1. The first USB powered speaker I purchased was the ALTEC LANSING iML237USB ORBIT:I was pleased with the sound quality of the ALTEC LANSING ORBIT. And at about $23 including shipping, you probably cannot get a better sounding USB powered speaker for the money.2. But after a while, I wanted the convenience of having a USB powered speaker that I could attach onto the laptop. So, I asked for and received the LOGITECH Z205 for Christmas which cost about $46 including shipping:The LOGITECH Z205 was indeed convenient as it clipped on top of the laptop. But although it sounded appreciably better than the built-in speakers on any of my laptops and netbooks, I was nonetheless underwhelmed by the sound quality. The ALTEC LANSING ORBIT sounded much better.3. So then I read the CNET review of the more expensive LOGITECH Z305 which also clips on top of the laptop. CNET basically concluded that the LOGITECH Z305 corrected the sonic deficiencies it had found in the less expensive LOGITECH Z205 and was worth the extra $10 - $20. Based on this review, I ended up ordering the Z305 from Amazon for $49.99 including shipping -- which meant that it was only $4 more than the Z205. I received it yesterday and could not be more pleased. It sounds great -- easily the best of the 3 USB powered speakers I now have -- with decent bass, a nice open sound and good stereo separation. I would actually characterize the sound as "high fidelity". With its high sound quality and clip-on convenience, I think it's probably the best and only USB powered speaker one should get.CONCLUSIONS: If you want good sound quality for little money, get the ALTEC LANSING ORBIT for $[..]. If you want high sound quality and clip-on convenience, get the LOGITECH Z305 for $50. Given these outstanding two speaker choices, I wouldn't even consider getting the LOGITECH Z205 for $46.

In my 6 years of owning these I have only had one problem with them. The subwoofer only works when the knob on the back is pushed in. I just put some duct tape on it and it still works. This happened about 4 years in.Excellent value, although I will be replacing them now, even though they still work well.

I got these speakers for my laptop and so far they're pretty good. My only real complaint is the volume control on the top. I haven't been able to finely adjust the volume from the speaker itself and have to manually do it through whatever I'm using that has sound (like DVD, youtube, etc). Other than that it's good, the sound is clear. Logitech is a good brand. I use them for everything.

This is the best-sounding computer speaker system I have ever owned. It pumps the 5.1 surround sound out like a champ from PC and Xbox games. Just gorgeous, room-thumping, ear-shattering sound. Great for Halo, Modern Warfare, Bad Company 2, and so on. It supports optical, coax, and 3-plug analog for surround sound. I've never had any trouble with this system putting out intense 2.1 or 5.1 sound. I think music sounds great on this system, though I know others would disagree.However, the control pod is made of very questionable components. I bought this system in October of 2008. Since then I've had to RMA three control pods with Logitech. All three have had the same issue: flickering LCD panel. But beware!! Each time I sent in my control pod and remote to Logitech to be replaced. The first two RMA's Logitech sent back to me a whole new Z-5500 system---yes, the whole kit'n'kaboodle. The third RMA they sent *only* a new control pod to me. So now I am out of a remote and the battle with Logitech to get my remote is ongoing as I type this (this latest control pod RMA was processed at the end of April 2011). So if you have to send your control pod to Logitech for replacement, do not send your remote or anything else! Only send the control pod. Even if they say to "send in the control pod and any related hardware".All in all, this speaker system is superb and I can highly recommend it to anyone. I just wish Logitech used better electronics in the control pods and didn't steal my remote.

This speaker is incredible!!!! If I open my patio doors, I can hear EVERY WORD of what I'm listening to!!! Clear, no fuzz, convenient, short cord!!! It was worth every dollar I paid!!! I'm using it on my Macbook Pro and its WAY better than the internal speakers could ever be!!! GREAT BUY!!!!! Thanks for those that had posted positive reviews because I was unsure at first about this purchase. I trusted my gut and am glad I did!!!

I actually bought these for $10 at Fry's Electronics, but I am so impressed that I had to write a review somewhere.They aren't amazing, they're just really good for a really great price, and honestly... that combo is few and far between in the land of computer speakers.My only criticism has already been addressed in the Z120 model (as I discovered when looking for these here on Amazon... as often, I should have looked here first)... a manual volume control. I'm sure Z120 owners find that handy.Summary: Extremely portable, provides volume to fill a room without any noticeable buzz, cheap, simple, easy... install and forget about it. That's how all peripherals should be.

No... the "noise" isn't the music I play, it's the constant interference sound that emanates from these speakers on a continual basis.Sound quality is good and they look nice and stylish. But there are some drawbacks, which if addressed would admittedly make these speakers more expensive. Chief among these is the relieance of thses speakers on power drawn frou a USB port. That makes their use with an i-Pod extremely unlikey (contrary to the promotional information). Secondly it would be nice if there was a volume control on the speakers proper. There isn't, so if you need to adjust the volume, you'll have to do it via the Audio Controls at the end of your Windows Taskbar.Whic brings me around to the sound. Interesingly enough, it does not increase or decrease with the volume control. That suggests to me some kind of interference from my PC (although I did test them with another PC, and got the same situation. That's a disappoinment.The Z110 speakers might be just what you're looking for if you're on a budget. You may or may not have the same noise problem that I had, but if you don't want to spend a lot of money, perhaps your machine will play nicer with them than my HP EliteBook 8540p. Good luck!

I have been looking to update my set up to surround sound, but being in college I so don't have the money to drop on a huge system or anything like that. I found this product and thought I would give it a try after reading a few reviews and wow! I have it hooked up to my tv and can switch it over to my computer easily and it just blows me away. I was extremely surprised by how much the base or really any of the speakers could rattle the walls. Very nice product!

These speakers are not 5.1 speakers, as they only support 5 channels. From what i can tell, these speakers ignore the LFE channel & use the center channel for the subwoofer. This is blatant false advertising on Logitech's part. If you are looking for 5.1 speakers, these are not acceptable.

Excellent sound, easy setup, usable as a home theater system with limited inputs. That is all great, but once the system fails, well, time for another. As many one star reviewers mention, the tower will fail at some point. Over a three year period I went thru two of these systems, now I have retired the idea of replacing it and am choosing a home theater system with an av receiver, there are plenty on amazon favorably reviewed.Also, I never paid more than $400 for this system, where they get the $900+ price tag is beyond me.In short, two stars because when it works its great, but don't expect longevity from this system. Now I have two of these speaker systems, the woofer is useless because is integrated with the tower.

When I first got these I thought cheap. They were really light and the speakers were small. I was wrong !!! These speakers shake my house. I had to turn the woofer way down so I wouldn't upset the neighbors. With a good sound card (have them hooked to my computer) they rock. I prefer them over my Cerwin Vega's.

I ordered this on August 17th and received it on the 24th. The setup was fairly easy and took about 10 minutes to connect the cables and find a proper place for everything around my desk. The sound is just amazing and i love it, i have it hooked up to my pc and use it for music and gaming. Playing music, i could definitely hear a big difference in quality between these and my old speakers, for games not all games have surround sound but still allows me to hear things i hadn't before. I would definitely recommend these for anyone who wants good speakers.However the control panel backlight (the blue light) started flickering 2 weeks ago and finally died 2 days ago which is a huge bummer as i live on the first floor of my apartment and it is mainly underground. Even with my windows open the sunlight doesn't come through since there are bushes blocking my window, so i am mostly in the dark for most of the day. Searching online you can find others with the same backlight dying problem as me. I've had mine for less than 2 months before it started dying, if i spend 300 dollars i want a quality product.Logitech support also SUCKS, they've been updating their email support service for at least 2 weeks now in the U.S and at least a month in the U.K. If you go on their support forums you will see many people complaining about the bad support. Not everyone can call for support during the times listed.I have bought a G11 keyboard, G5 mouse, a racing wheel from logitech, X-140 laptop speakers and 3 headsets from logitech before buying the Z-5500 speakers, i have always liked the quality of their products but i have never had to get support for any of my items until now and considering the terrible customer support I might not buy anything from them again.*Edit*Their email support is finally back up, i have emailed them about my problem and am not waiting for their response which they say to expect a reply within 24 hours. It's getting close to 24 hours and still no response.*Edit* 10/22/09They got back within 20 hours with an automated message for me to send in my information for them to ship me a new control pod. We'll see how long it takes to get here.*Edit* 10/31/09They just got back to me with a response that they would give me an electronic return label within 4 days, it took them 9 days just to tell me that, and since i was dissatisfied with their customer service i said so, they replied by giving me survey link about how their customer care was and how it could be improved.*Edit* 11/13/2009Checked tracking number, i was SUPPOSED to recieve the package today, but being Logitech, they didn't put my apartment letter on it. I checked the support requests i've sent in, yup put the apartment letter in the included address, now UPS has this message up, "THE APARTMENT NUMBER IS MISSING OR IS INCORRECT. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION.", meaning they are trying to contact the sender (logitech) to get the information. Good job logitech once again.*Edit* 11/17/09Finally received replacement control pod today, works fine now. End of a ardous go with logitech support.Final Thoughts: Logitech needs to work on their support, am satisfied with their products but not so much with their support. Will probably buy from them again but will probably go for some other company first. I have removed my angry rant in liu of a more accurate depiction that their products are good but once they break down have fun with support.

A Thousand Flipping Dollars?!?!?!I have owned this system since 2007 and it is friggin' AWESOME. Nothing else, (except possibly a Klipsch) even approaches it. I use it both as a HDTV Surround System and a PC Surround. The Subwoofer/Amp unit crapped out on me at just under 2 years old and Logitech replaced the entire unit for free, including shipping back the original system. Great, great service. But I paid $349.xx for it. At a grand, you gotta be kidding me.

To keep this review short, these are excellent replacement for your laptop speakers. You can watch a movie or something from a few feet away and get clear sound. These are not high-end speakers but definitely much much better than any laptops inbuilt speakers I have seen or heard :)

This product was chosen as the centerpiece to my home entertainment system - for me it functions four different inputs of entertainment.1. xbox/gaming2. DVDs3. music4. televisionhere are my thoughts on how it performs individually in each category. product is connected with monster thx 1000 digital optical cables.1. Xbox/Console gaming- the system far exceeded my standards. combined with the xbox 360 and dolby 5.1 surround, the sound quality, clarity, and placement is amazing. tested with rainbow six vegas2 , i was locating enemies from the sound of their footsteps and guns shots via the satellite speakers & 5.1 surround, giving away their positions. It will sound like iraq in your living room. my opinion is that this system best performs its purpose at gaming above the other categories.2. DVDs - As home threatre speakers, once again these outperformed almost every aspect I could have imagined. It's like having your own movie theatre when it comes to sound quality and effects. theatrics and sound effects perfectly replicate real life sound; watch a war movie and the neighbors might think there is a gun fight in your house. soundtrack and sound effects seem to be excetptionally louder however than other areas of sound during movies. I've watched over 15 movies now with the system and they all seem to have this problem. The only problem I have with them functioning for movies - voices are usually too soft to hear; you must turn the volume up louder - but then you have the problem of every action and theatric track exploding when the sound picks up in the movie. If you like playing your stuff LOUD and I mean loud, then this might not be a problem for you. But if you have other people in your house, they might not feel the same. Music and effects seem to be two-fold the volume of voices. I'm constantly turning the sound up and down between scenes- but thanks to the remote this is not that difficult.3. Music- I've only been able to play music through my xbox thus far, I do not have a sound card supporting coax/optic inputs yet for access to my computers mp3s. I've read up that the auzentech xplosion cinema is a great option here for about 100$ and also converts non-dolby source to 5.1. If your incoming source to this system is not 5.1, you won't have surround sound, but i assume almost all systems made today are like this(that are somewhat affordable). Once again for music, the system is just as solid as it is with video games. all aspects of sound are crisp and clear, perfect reproductions of how it was meant to be heard. video gaming and music- this system was designed for it.4. Television - the system does not stand out for its TV(/cable dvr) performance, however i suspect it wasn't even really designed for such use as these are computer speakers. If a channel is not broadcasting 5.1 dolby, only the front 2 and center will output sound. Most of your basic cable channels will all output in stereo. HD channels seem to broadcast 5.1, so you may be avoiding basic cable alltogether with this setup. The stereo itself however is not bad quality, but it is not the full potential of this system either once you have heard it full surround; listening to stereo will be a chore. Voices are not as difficult to hear as with DVDs, volume can be left at an acceptable level.Thoughts,The simple fact that I can run my computer, video games, DVDs, and HDTV/cable through one system is epic to me. no need to buy a audio receiver that in-itself alone would cost the same price as this system, this was clearly the most price efficient choice for me, and I didn't go wrong. The ability for this system to handle so many different uses is astounding, and I highly recommend it to all who are interested. this truely is a home theatre system in itself, even though it is not marketed as one.To clarify a few of my worries i had from reviews here, or things i wasn't expecting before i purchased the system:- the sub is not some massive destroyer, it won't shake your walls off if you don't set it maxed out with the volume more than half up.- i didn't count on my tv/z5500 remotes interfering with eachother, although they are both IR so it makes sense. just something that may be overlooked. my main unit is inches from my TV however, and was my only placement for it.-all four satellites turn in the same direction on their base. if you sit them up straight this is not a problem but when wallmounting the rears -it will be difficult to face both inward. when turned- both will face the same direction (LL) you will want them pointing inwards at eachother. some flipping around and clever base positioning will be required here.- if you want surround through 3 devices, you will have to unplug a cord and swap inputs unless you find a use for the 6.1 channel direct input. When I first got these speakers, I was pretty impressed. Nice looking, good sound, for only $25. However, after 2 weeks of moderate use, the left subwoofer began to buzz. Even the most modest bass would override the song with an annoying buzzing sound, making them worse than the tiny speakers in my pc. I read several reviews that made this seem a common problem. The only solution was to plug them into another power source, which did nothing to improve the problem.The Logitech website solution was to return them for a replacement, which is exactly what I am doing. I'm replacing them with another brand that is better manufactured.If you do opt for these speakers, save the receipt.

I love this system, I have had it for about half of a year now, and I haven't had any troubles out of them yet. The matrix mode is very helpful when I am watching tv or listening to music. There are two reasons that I didn't give this system 5 stars. First the cords on the front right, left, and center are too short. Secondly the bass seems to be lacking just a little bit. I think that my issue with the bass is that it is a downfiring bass without a cover over the speaker. I am very protective of the speaker because I have read reviews saying that their cone was ruptured because they set it on something uneven or dropped it, so I have it elevated on a flat piece of wood about an inch away from the ground. Unfortunately this kills most of the thump the downfiring configuration gives it. It is easy to compensate for with the attached remote. I would recommend this system to anyone and everyone who is looking for a logitech brand sound system; this system marks the end of the better quality systems put out by logitech so far. Here's hoping that they get back on the ball and make a new awesome system.

The Logitech X-140 speakers do work well enough to fill a small room, but don't expect to fill a larger room or to blast the dust off the walls. Non-audio connoisseurs listening thought the sound quality was great, although to my ears they were lacking in high and low end. The tone knob does almost nothing, but the basic sound quality is fairly good without adjustment. I like the regular electrical on them as opposed to a wall wart on many speakers. The speakers are big and not very portable but they are luggable. For the price they do a good job of sharing a computer audio output with a dozen listeners.

I bought this product thinking I would have an improvement over my netbooks speakers. It works a little bit better, but over all I have to strain to hear whats going on at times if other noise is in background. Ambient noises, pc fans etc.

It works slightly better than some of my notebook speakers. It does the job, so far had it for a few weeks and no problems.pros:3.5mm input, volume control, power button on speaker, no power cord.cons:sound quality as expected for tiny speakers but nothing amazing, price.

Logitech Z-5500 THX-Certified 5.1 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System, I have had this set since they first came out and using it with a creative thx x-fi sound blaster with its own console control as well. These speakers will rock your world.If you like gaming and have a good system you get pulled right in to the game. i don't understand some of these bad reviews as this kicks butt!! I do agree on the price thing as i would sell mine for half this guys price! He is definitely gouging the price but they belong to him. I paid 299.99 for sound system and it has served me well. Can't turn volume up past 3 as they vibrate the walls!! Thank you Logitech for making a awesome product!!

I came across this little item in the supermarket (despite many hours' tralling Amazon, I never saw it). I was dithering over purchasing the more powerful Z305 because I have lovely little ightweight Acer that I feared would have been destabilised by clipping on the 30 cm Z305 soundbar. This is a compact 18 com which sits neatly on my 26 cm screen. Very light, it adds little weight to my laptop, so that I can carry it around in one hand. Granted it doesn't deliver Bang and Olufsen sound quality but that is not its mission. Given it compact size it delivers astonishingly good stereo sound which is more than adequate for the talk shows I listen to continuously. I particularly recommend it for users of the smaller netbooks.

I normally don't go out of my way to review things, but I had to give one for this product. I've had this speaker system for around 5-6 years and I cannot believe they still work the same as when I took them out of the box. They sound great, and are incredibly versatile. I use them for anything from iTunes to music production, to movies on my laptop. They went through college with me, through several moves, and I am still impressed with them! Products like this are hard to come by. I rated this a 5 for long lasting quality, price, versatility.

This system is really good for the money. I got mine for 60 dollars and i could not be happier. The sound from the satelites is crisp and clear. The subwoofer, despite having a driver 5.25 inch driver (quite small), is pretty powerful. I am not lying when i say that my room shakes with this subwoofer. It's a great looking system of great quality, and sound. Cannot go wrong with it.

This review is assuming that most people with a laptop/notebook computer will want to make it portable. At least, that is how I use mine, otherwise, I would own a desktop. That being said, this is my review of the Logitech Stereo Speaker Z110.These speakers are marketed to be used with Laptop/Netbook computers. The marketing says that they are a small design and therefore will not take up a lot of space. This is true. They also market them to sound great. This is also true. So what is wrong with these speakers you are asking? Well, they are not easily portable, they do not mount to the computer in any way to be out of the way, and they are too big to fit into many computer bags for portability.So if these were marketed to someone with a desktop that wanted good speakers without being too big, I would have rated them at least 4 stars and maybe even 5 stars for the surprising good sound. With that in mind, I took my speakers to work and replaced my old ones. The problem now is that they work too good and I suspect my boss will try to steal them pretty soon.

I love these speakers . I bought them about 3 years ago though and they were only $89 or $99. I checked my model number to make sure they were the same and they are. look the same same model number I dont know why they went up so much in price..I bought mine brand new too... anyhow I bought them to use on my laptop and also have used them on a HDTV with a ps3 hooked up to them and they have always had awesome booming sound .. I guess they are worth $300 but I would never spend that much on speakers...I guess I got a really good deal on them.bought them on here too.. anyhow I was looking at them today because my dog jumped on my laptop just a bit ago and it crashed to the floor breaking the green audio cable thingy and I was looking for a replacement..so far I have not found one anywhere.. I sent an email to logitech hoping I can buy one there but this cable is made specifically for this set and is not available anywhere else..it is the green orange and black cable. if there is no replacement I guess I really got my moneys worth anyway and may get a cheaper set just to get by with my laptop

I bought a pair of these 3 months ago. Initially worked fine, however noticed a buzz coming out of the left speaker. Buzz persisted despite unplugging the audio cable.Called Logitech customer service and they shipped me a replacement pair of speakers and told me to keep the old ones. New ones work fine without the buzz.

These speakers are relatively tall (about the size of a quart of milk) with a wide base. Features I like:* No separate power supply - plugs straight into an outlet with what seems to be a 4' cord (6' would have been nicer, hence 4 stars instead of 5 for "ease of use"* fairly sturdy build quality. The fairly thick metal mesh in front of the speakers does a good job protecting them from any harm.* pretty heavy. They won't topple over very quickly* sound quality is good. Maybe not hifi, but these are $25 speakers with built-in amplifier. I don't expect miracles; just something that is better than what my pc (laptop) can offer. And that they do. Unlike the built-in laptop speakers these ones don't wear me out after an hour when listening to music while working.What I like less:* It would have been nice if the speakers had little "L" and "R" labels--nice to know for gaming. I guess I'll figure it out soon enough. That's about my only gripe right now.

I've used every type of sound system there is except 7.1, and I was not dissatisfied with this system. I've been studying for the best True 5.1 surround sound system for its price and here it is. The volume control is perfect for me because it lays to the left of my keyboard for me to adjust the sound quickly on the fly. Warning: depending on your speaker setup you'll spend a bit of time adjusting your individual speaker levels on your computer. The back speakers were too quiet for me: Maybe they were too quiet because I set all 5 speakers equally distant from me. The quiet rear speakers were easy to make louder by simply raising their levels in Windows.I enjoyed gaming with this system. Games like Half-Life 2, Resident Evil 5, Dead Space (Really any game that supports 5.1 sound) sound brand new. It just feels great to hear sounds come from behind you than hear those sounds in front of you with them warped a certain way so that you know they came from behind. This system is great for identifying precisely what direction a sound came from, and it helps a lot in games where you need to know where a noise came from like Left 4 Dead.Matrix mode is flawed and sometimes doesn't work with certain programs, but I don't really care or mind some videos on Youtube and Hulu only shooting audio out of the front speakers. Anything important to me works on all 5 speakers with excellent separation of sounds! I recommend this to anyone who wants a 5.1 sound system with an amazingly cheap price for the quality. I bought this for $85, including shipping.
