Got these for 20 bucks at a garage sale on August of 2011 (Lucky Me), since then I've been bumping to these monsters ^_^ anyways the subwoofer do a great job but its best recommended for small rooms and not rooms the size of a living room. Be sure to buy some RCA extenders for the rear speakers if your going to put them in the back of the room because well...the included ones are short. I also like the matrix button for when you got to hook up an iPod or a computer that doesn't have 5.1 outputs. If your thinking of buying it, then buy it i mean its a Logitech product and well the price is cheap but gives great sound quality and if you don't like it you can just return or even sell it

Man, I LOVE this little speaker! I'm actually sitting here at my desktop system listening to some of my favorite music playing from my cellphone through Logitech's Z205 (of course, connected to my computer as the power source), and the bases are all covered (literally and figuratively!) by this pint-sized speaker! The sound is rich, deep, and true stereo, with audio elements coming out of the speakers alternately or simultaneously, as required by the song/music piece being played. There's nothing left to be desired in my case by the quality of the treble, bass, or any other elements of the audio produced by Logitech's clever little (laptop) speaker! As the product description indicates, it's a compact little speaker, measuring approx. 7" wide by 5.5" high (including the base) by 1.7" deep. It IS lightweight, but not so lightweight that it feels cheap or poorly made. It feels solidly made and sturdy, while still being lightweight enough to not put any undue strain on your laptop screen. The base is very cleverly put together, combining a stable, rubber-footed base stand with a rubber grip-containing laptop clamp. Standing on your desktop or clipped to your laptop screen, the speaker is very stable. As long as you're not trying to clip this onto a super-thick screen, the clamp stand of this speaker should hold just fine. And, even if it WON'T accomodate the thickness of your monitor (as was the case with my Hanns-G 19-inch Flat Panel Display), the base of the speaker is more than stable enough on its own, with the clamp's lever and the base's rubber feet combining to provide more than enough stability for the size and weight of this speaker. As I mentioned before, the sound quality of this speaker is great. None of the audio elements that you'd expect from a quality speaker have been left out here, which ensures a great, rich sound quality, and should satisfy most every listener out there. As far as the cons of this speaker go, the pouch that ships with the speaker is about the only thing here that really left me wanting more. It's well made for holding most things, with sturdy, reinforced seams and a wide nylon ribbon drawstring, but it's not what I would feel reassured carrying this speaker in. Really, the speaker should come with some sort of molded plastic case to carry it around in, although that would be more expensive than this nylon pouch would be, manufacturing-wise. Long story short, if you intend to carry this speaker around with you, this little pouch will provide it with no padding, and negligible protection. The (approximately) 24" USB cord is also a bit on the short side if your USB ports happen to either be located on one side of your laptop's base or the other, or if you're using it on your desktop PC tower. However, as averages go, this cord is more than long enough for standard task usage.Aside from the less-than-adequate carrying pouch packaged with Logitech's Z205 speaker, this little speaker has already earned a place in my heart, AND my laptop case, AND on my desktop with my desktop PC, AND in my purse with my phone's data cable/USB wallcharger! Don't feel like you can only use this speaker with your laptop - it works with SO much more than just that! Just IMAGINE the possibilities! ; ) LOVE IT!!!

Great system, simple to connect, simple to use. If you want good surround sound and don't want all the complications of all those big fancy surround sounds buy this. I am using it with a LG TV for TV,movies and I Pod. I have a Sony surround sound which never works properly, while watching a movie I could hardly understand what people are saying, and then the music was too loud...Now, I can understand what they are saying, and the music is just right, it took no time to connect,I didn't feel like I need a degree in electronics to get it to work. The sound is very good too. For more technical info, please see other review :)

I was pleasantly surprised when I received these speakers and tried them out. However, it didn't take me long to discover a downside to them...GREAT FOR LAPTOPS! They have great sound and work wonderfully with my laptop. As an online university student, I have found that the speakers build into my laptop are rarely loud enough for me to hear videos that are required viewing for my classes - these speakers, however, have plenty of volume. Plus, I can use them for iTunes on my laptop, YouTube, etc and am now able to hear what's being played.NOT SO GREAT FOR IPODS...The downside I discovered to these speakers is that they require power from a USB port. First off, the only sets of speakers I've ever used with portable music devices have always worked like headphones - you plug them in and you're good to go (no power required). Not long after I got my first iPod I got some speakers that were also a docking station and those require a wall outlet - but that's usually easy enough to find around your house, in a hotel, etc. These, however, require a USB port, so you're basically tied to a computer if you want to use the speakers. Kind of a bummer.Overall, so long as you keep in mind that these speakers REQUIRE a USB port in order to function, and you're okay with that and are able to plan for it, then I highly recommend the speakers - as they are quite good...especially for the price! If you are looking for something more portable, and don't want to have to have a computer (or some manner of conversion plug) available, then these probably aren't for you...

I bought these computer speakers for a family member and I actually liked them better than my Bose computer speakers that I paid $100 for. Very good sound quality and louder than the speakers that I currently have. Both the logitech and the bose speaker are made in China. For the money this is a very good speaker and I would definitely trade my bose speakers for these.

These speakers are excellent, provided they are driven with equalization. While it is a bit disappointing that Logitech did not include equalization in the amplifier circuit to compensate for the nonlinear response of the speakers, once you do this using your computer, these speakers sound remarkable. Given their size, the sound volume will never be "loud" but for most applications, the sound volume is more than adequate. These speakers are an order of magnitude better than those that are inside my macbook pro, and make a significant difference. These speakers are also significantly better than the ones in my two desktop computers.Equalization is needed to enhance output at 64 Hz and 8000 Hz, and is most easily accomplished by selecting "loudness". One should then drop off 32 Hz to below norm because these speakers have little if any response at this frequency, but driving them at this frequency will muddy the sound. I could not believe how much better these speakers perform when this equalization is used. The sound quality is outstanding. One minor problem is that these speakers were designed for computers with a usb port on the right hand side. The right speaker is the one with the green light on it, and if it is important to you to have left and right correctly setup, then you will need to flip the speakers from the standard configuration when the usb port is on the left. Fortunately, there is enough wire provided to do this without trouble. These speakers are outstanding after equalization, and for the price, are remarkable.

I just got this in five minutes ago. I have it hooked up and am listening to Alan Parsons' "Eye in the Sky" right now. I read the instructions (30 seconds), but I wouldn't have had to even do that. You basically plug it in (usb cord included), let windows install it, then play your music! The top of the unit has 3 simple buttons, on/off, volume up, and volume down. The sound is SOOooo much better than my laptop speakers.Beside the usb plugin on the unit, there is even a jack for mp3 players! I have had this laptop for two years, but due to poor sound quality I never listened to music much on it. That is changing as of Today! I'm not saying this speaker is the best thing ever made, but it sure is a great improvement over my existing setup, especially for under $30 bucks. While writing this review, I just switched to Andrea Bocelli, and it sounds great also.If I had to find a negative I'd say it was getting the plastic packaging off. It's very stiff and formed around the shape of the package contents. Make sure you have heavy duty shears or something equivalent!Bottom line, I'm a happy camper!

It's now hers permanently as the speakers in her new Toshiba laptop were so tinny this speaker is now always clipped to the screen. You will not be disappointed. No batteries to mess with. As she carries her computer around the house, it comes right along. Great also for Skyping, now we can hear the other party, even if they are on a weak cell phone. The sound quality is amazing for something so convenient, small, and cheap.

I love everything about these speakers - the cost, the input options, sound quality - everything.I took my kit, bought 4 speaker stands for each corner of my room, and hooked up my TV over optical so I can channel all of my media sources through the single channel. Works great; had mine for 6 years now and I still love them like the day I got them.I get a lot of comments about my stands, they are simple 2' tubes with a 3-sided base. At the top, there is a threaded fitting, so you can fit a 90 degree "L" bracket onto. You'll need to bend the 90 degree bracket out to about 135 degrees. Once you do that, unscrew the base off each of the four satellite speakers. If you can keep the nut on the inside of the speaker in place, then all you have to do is bolt it up to that "L" bracket. If the nut falls off like mine, you have to take the speaker apart. Pop the screen off and pull the rubber feet out of each hole where the screen posts would go. Take out the screws you can see and the speaker should separate and you can retrieve the nut. At this point, you can try to get the nut to stay, reassemble and then bolt it onto the "L" bracket. What I did though, was just bolt the back half of the speaker housing onto the "L" bracket before reassembling. Much less of a headache IMO.

Bought these several years ago and I've had trouble with them from the start. When they work they're fine and much better than my laptop speakers, but I often have trouble making them work on my computer, even if I go into SOUNDS and change the OUTPUT to the Logitech speakers (which should happen automatically, I think). It's frustrating because I use them for work for presentations and they will decide not to work and then I'm stuck trying to get a room full of people to listen to my laptop speakers. I agree that the controls on top are pretty useless -- you cannot tell what they're doing. The sound is better than built in speakers, but not as full as you'd hope for speakers this size. I like the convenient case and the ability to separate speakers. Good idea, just not well executed. I'm looking for new ones that are more reliable.

Now I know I'm going against most of the reviews here, but I've felt this way about this set of speakers for a very long time now. I do consider myself an audiophile and this speaker set is not for everyone. I'll go over the plus points, the negatives, and then you can decide if it's for you or not.Positives:1. LOUD AS #$*@. Yes. 500watts is 500watts. I can make everyone on my street hear what I'm listening to on my Ipod, TV, or dvd player. This is the loudest set of speakers I've ever had and will be tough to beat.2. BASS. omfg bass. If this is what you're looking for, you can't go wrong.3. Features. It has a 5.1 decoder, a HUUUUUGE sub, a remote and lcd display. It's basically everything you need to get your dvd, xbox/ps3, and ipod going.4. Cheap. Yes the pricing is very attractive for all the features you're getting.Negatives:1. Sound Quality. this is the BIGGEST thing for me. From the first day I had it till today, I still am very disappointed with the sound quality. Some people love it, some beg to differ. I must say from other speakers I've heard, these sound very mediocre. The bass and mids are waay too high to emphasize any clarity and sound quality. Other brands are known for their quality (Klipsch comes to mind) while Logitech is known for its mice and keyboards.2. Wiring. Small issue, but when I moved to a bigger place, I couldn't just get simple speaker wires to expand, I had to get rca adapters with cables to extend.3. No optical input. I mean come on. Seriously? Coaxial only? EDIT: I'm sorry it does have optical, I forgot it was my DVD player that was missing optical so I had you use coaxial out for this unit.So in conclusion, if your in college and want to destroy your entire dorm floor, get these. They are loud as hell and will shake up everyone and everything. If you want to actually enjoy your music and listen to music how it should be heard, look elsewhere.

These Speakers Are AWSOME. I have used them every day for the last 6 years I have owned them and have never had any issues with them. BUT, when I bought them in 2006 they were a little over $300. Then the price went down to under $200 when Logitech were going to dis-continue them. Due to customer pressure they were kept in production. $800 for these speakers is outrageous! I would recommend not purchasing these until th price comes down to the mid $300's. The MSRP on these now $399.99.

I bought these to replace my Creative Inspire 4.1 45Watt set and as they were better they weren't as good as i expected. first thing i noticed was even though its 5.1 its not true 5.1 that or my Sound Blaster Audigy SE Advanced 24 Bit EAX 4.0 Sound Card cant produce true 5.1 which i highly doubt. ive tried all sound settings as well as combinations all to no avail. only way to get center speaker to even come on is in "matrix" mode and in doing that i lose the rear speakers. so i just keep Creative speaker setting set to Stereo surround where all 4 speakers produce exact same. i dont know what the deal is with that and yes cables are plugged in right. Also the bass seems to hit harder with my old 45watt 4.1 system. i have bass usually turned all the way up 24/7 yea its not that good. i mean it has a deep rich sound but its weak imo..on my 4.1 set anything over 50% was too much. on a brighter side the actual sound the speakers produce is very clear and clean. Great set to listen to music with not so much for gaming as i cannot get them to produce true 5.1. but i can get true 4.1 on these... weird but anyways i bought these when they were 79.99$ so i cannot complain but in all honesty i would look elsewhere as you can get 80$ 2.1 sets that would kill these.

We've had these logitech speakers for a long while now(4-5 years)! Wish they weren't going out but I understand that nothing lasts forever, besides we've had 4-5 good years out of these things and the sound is still good as long as they aren't turned up too loud. I've really drove these baby's up at times and they never failed to produce room filling sound. Some of the reviews says these speakers aren't true 5.1, which may be true, I'm not an extreme audiophile just someone who enjoys room filling music. To me they have some of the best sound I've ever heard! If you want a good set of computer speaker with good sound you can't go wrong with the logitech X-530. Now to decide what to buy, these again or a more top of the line model(boy has speaker prices went up since my wife bought these years ago, these are more than twice what she paid, can get a really top of the line model for a little more). Hope this review helped. One more thing these are 3.5mm jacks so make sure your computer is old enough/has the right jacks mine has this and digital sound just be careful.

i wanted a set of computer speakers that would faithfully reproduce music at high volume to be heard easily though out a small 1500 sq ft ranch house. That's not what i got. What i got is a set of medium grade speakers which produce a reasonably good sound for music and speech at moderate volume settings. Howeverwhen played at anything over one half to two thirds or higher of available volume setting range these speakers produce an unpleasant sound woven into the music stream. This is speaker break-up ... simply over-driven and functionally useless at higher settings... an offense to the ears.I would have saved myself the trouble of buying them had i believed one of the previous reviews which i had read before buying these. That reviewer described this same effect perfectly in that review. So now there are two reviews available saying the same thing.Take heed!

I just got my Z5500 speakers about a week ago, and here are my first impressions...Sound: Overall, for the price, the sound is good. Like other reviews have said, the midrange is weak, and they are not the best speakers for listening to music. Movies sound great so far. I've watched both Fellowship of the Ring DVD up-converted on a Blu-Ray player, and Batman Begins blu-ray, both sounded wonderful. Cable length is probably enough for most applications, but you can always use regular speaker wire if you need longer wire runs. It's probably a good idea to upgrade the wires anyway, but I haven't yet. Despite the subwoofer's huge size, I was a bit disappointed in the bass it puts out. I have it set up in a corner against two walls, and it still doesn't really impress me. It's ok for movies, but some music sounds a bit flat.Appearance: The Z-5500 system looks good, blending in with most black/silver A/V equipment. Take note though, the sub is HUGE! Read the specifications for it and imagine where you will put it. It's not a small PC speaker set sub like you may be used to. The receiver thingy is also pretty large, although it doesn't really look like it in the picture.Cons: There are several things about this system that have annoyed me so far, with no realistic fix, which is why I'm only giving it three stars. First, the stands on the surround speakers are a bit tricky to remove. I wanted to mount them to speaker stands, and they look silly having a stand on top of a stand. At a glance, you just have to remove a Philips head screw, but they have filled the groove with epoxy to prevent you from doing this. I couldn't figure out why, so I used some needle nose pliers to get the screw loose, then I realized why they don't want you taking it off. I heard this rattle inside the speaker once the stand was free... There is a hex nut that comes loose after the screw is removed! What a poor design. To get the hex nut out, (and you will want to or hear it bouncing around during playback), take the grill off, take the needle nose pliers and remove the rubber grill holders, and remove the four screws to take the speaker apart. You may have to also loosen the two screws in back that secure the wire holders. Get the nut out, and reassemble. Now you have an extra hole in your speaker! The other nuances are that there is no auto standby feature. I have a 14 year old set of Sony speakers that can detect when there is an active source hooked up to it to save power. These new ones don't. Also, there is no way to dim the display that I can find, and it's too bright in a dark room while watching a movie. Another annoying thing is that when I listen to digital music from my cable provider, it often hiccups every time I change the music channel, and the rear speakers turn off. Changing the source and changing it back fixes it, but it happens about every time. If you are going to hook up an Ipod or PC to it with the 1/8" mini jack, be ready to hear a LOT of hum coming from all speakers, especially the center. The remote is also a pain; most universal remotes I've tried cannot control the volume on this, so you have to use the small, unlit remote. It may also be a challenge for some to remember which Input each device is on. For example, if your cable DVR is on coax and your blu-ray is on optical, you just have to remember that. I taped some small labels to the remote so that the electronically challenged member of my family can switch between devices with some clarity.Other thoughts: This is not any fault of Logitech by any means, just a big hiccup in technology that I discovered the hard way. My plan was to hook up both my cable HD-DVR and Blu-Ray player to my TV using HDMI cables, and output the audio to the Z-5500 using an optical digital out cable. Easy enough, and I would never have to change the input on the speakers. The Cable DVR worked great; however, the Blu-Ray has absolutely no sound delivered to the Z5500, regardless of setting. Some Google research has taught me that while you would think any new HDTV would pass along any audio coming in from HDMI out through the optical, it's just not true. Usually only Cable 5.1 gets passed on, but others don't. So if you are planning on hooking up your PS3, Xbox, and DVR to the TV via HDMI and outputting the sound to the Z5500 via one optical cable, get ready to be disappointed. It just doesn't work. Some TVs may support this, but my new Sharp 52" LCD doesn't. To fix it, I had to use optical for the blu-ray, and coax for the DVR, which now means I must change the input not only on my TV, but also on the receiver every time I change between them. Again no fault of Logitech, but you may quickly run out of inputs on this system. I don't have any other devices yet, but if I do get even one more, I'll have nowhere to hook up the sound cable, unless it's a PC using the three mini plugs.Overall the systems works great for the money, but be aware you m

If you're looking for simple computer speakers, and want good sound quality, you've found a match. But what you get with these speakers is sound quality you don't expect from a package this size. And for under $30, these speakers deliver in areas most other can't. The build quality on these is amazing. My friend has had them for the past year or so and they are dropped, moved, knocked over, and turned way up by him and our other friends all the time. They still perform beautifully after all the abuse, they have scratches, but the grills are not dented and most importantly, the speakers aren't blown or stressed. They are also surprisingly portable, there is not clunky power supply to worry about and the speakers can be packed in any bag easily by inverting them vertically and wrapping the cords around them.As I've said, my friend has had these speakers for a while, and every time I listened to them i was impressed. Whether i was sitting in front of them at normal volume, where they sound very spacious and the have no problem picking up the lows and the detailed highs. The flat bass driver is a very smart idea and put out smooth bass you won't be disappointed with. The other times they impress me is when he decides to turn them up, and they're able to fill a normal size room with sound you'll find yourself needing to yell over. They don't sound the best when are turned up but that's expected, besides, knowing these things will last a very long time you won't care.ProsImpressive sound for their size.Easily portableLoudDurable as hellPriceConsDon't sound the best when they are turned all the way up, but lyrics are still clear. If you're looking for cheap computer speakers, these are the way to go. Sound quality: is distinctively better than most cheap laptop speakers, possibly not because these were that great, but simply because these are larger and outside of the laptop body. Still, no bass representation can be expected from these two tiny cones and they sure don't produce any. But the mid-range is nice, at least nicer than the build-in speakers.Portability/Pouch: comes with a soft pouch, so the cable will not get lost, but it is a soft pouch, so it will not protect against pressure. If you pack it, don't put it into a soft-sided bag or next to something with a sharp edge. Otherwise build quality is solid and it has a grill to protect the cones.Convenience: It is easy to install (both physically and the drivers), at least under windows7. The clip is solid enough to hold it even if you move the laptop around and it is padded, so it wont scratch, but the front should have been cut out to leave room for the camera / mic that is on most laptops nowadays. The buttons on the top are a very nice idea, but the clip does not hold the box strong enough for this, so you will have to be careful when trying to use them. It is a bit wobbly when you press it.Other use: The clip is shaped so this can be just put down on a flat surface (even has four tiny rubber legs), does not have to be clipped to the top of a screen. Has extra input for a mp3 player, but no room for internal power source (batteries), so it has to be hooker up to a laptop to work. This is a limiting factor, otherwise it could have been used as a standalone speaker for your music player.Another possible use would be to hook it up to a desktop, but for the same or little more you can get 2.1 speakers (including from logitech) with MUCH better sound.Target audience: is the frequent traveler, who carries his laptop and wants to use it in the hotel room to watch some movies.Value: For $20 this would be a good value. For $35 (which is what amazon typically charges for it, although I got it for $30) it is a bit too pricey.Summary: It is an upgrade, but not that much of an upgrade. It won't work unless you hook it up to a laptop (not self powered), so not usable as standalone speaker. It covers up the camera and the mic on the front of the screen, so interferes with you using your laptop for video calling or even for just plain audio calling. For watching movies on your laptop, if you watch it alone, you are better off with a decent headphone. If the headphone is not an option, i.e. you watch it with someone else, it is good, but not great. There are a lot of good things here and it is certainly better than most built-in laptop speakers, but could have been better and sound quality is still just so-so. Should be cheaper.

To my great dismay, one Sunday night I was watching a TV show, blissfully unaware that the climax and resolution had been cut off. A football game ran just long enough to delay my TiVo'd recording. I was able to access the TV show on my laptop and, even though my laptop has a good speaker package, the sound was woefully tinny. So, I pulled these speakers out and plugged them into the USB port.I was very pleased with this set for a couple reasons. First and foremost, my laptop has so many programs on it already that I didn't want to have to install any software. Fortunately, I didn't have to install anything to run these speakers; they worked beautifully plug and play. Most impressive, however, was the sound that came out of the speakers. The TV show sound and clarity was fabulous, but even more impressive was the sound this set made when I played music through them; they have just the right highs and lows and base and I was able to enjoy beautiful music while typing away on my laptop. These are excellent plug and play speakers. Now I can't wait to try them on my iPod. Awesome!

Let me start by saying that this is my third speaker system that I have owned for my Gateway PC.I started out using the speakers that came with the computer system itself which is actually a speaker bar that mounts under my 24" monitor. Those speakers are OK for basic use, but being the electronics geek that I am and appreciate great sounding music and movies, I quickly realized that 6 watt speakers mounted to a speaker bar was not going to cut it. The good thing about this speaker bar is that it does have simulated 3D sound which does sound kinda cool when watching movies.OK, so it was time to upgrade and decided that I wanted to get a great sounding system with lots of bass and clean sound. I also decided that surround sound was not very important (at the time) and settled on the Logitech Z-2300 2.1 set up. I figured that when watching movies, since the set up had so mch power, It would be good enough for me. Purchased them, had them for a few months and let me tell you, LOVED these speakers.... for music! When I listened to music, it sounded almost flawless. Great pounding bass, mid and highs were clear for a PC set up at the price I paid. Was very happy with them until I started to watch movies... As far as the front of the soundstage and lows, the Z-2300 got the job done, however I really did have buyer's remorse only due to the fact that the spacial surround effects of the soundstage was missing. Could not totally enjoy watching movies so I then decided, I was going to make one last leap and purchase a REALLY GOOD 5.1 set up.At this point, since space is an issue with my home, I decided to step up to a 2.1 set up with simulated surround, again from Logitech and decided on the Z-Cinema set up. Long story very short, I HATED them... they looked nice, had a nice remote but the sound quality was mediocre and the bass was almost non-existent, especially when watching movies. I literally had them hooked up all of about an hour; disconnected them, boxed everything up and back to Amazon they went... very disappointed. This is where the Z-5500's come into play. Now, just like a consumer should, I did some research on the best set up to buy... I for one was looking for build quality, power ratings, and of-course, best bang for my hard earned buck! I decided that I was going to stick with Logitech and get a TRUE 5.1 set up. Altough space is an issue, I decided what they heck and made the purchase.I received the box and without delay, I started to unpack everything. I have read reviews that Logitech does not do a good job of packing the system but let me tell you, I disagree as I thought that everything was well laid out, wrapped, strapped, and tight. They even label instructions to keep the Sub away from your electronics and even thought of wrapping plastic straps around the sub so you can easily lift it out of the box.. that was a nice touch... nice job Logitech!FIRST IMPRESSIONS--Satellite speakers are of very nice build quality. They are heavy, and the drivers are constructed of quality materialsThe Subwoofer is big, but not too big that you cannot fit it in an average size room with furniture. If I can fit it in my small place, then most people should not have an issue with space. Again, build quality/fit and finish is exceptional for the price you pay. The heat sink takes up about 3/4 of the rear of the sub abd should keep it cool. Connections are well laid out.The Control Pod is A LOT bigger than I expected. This was the biggest surprise when I was unpacking the box. Looks really nice on my desk, great build quality, and did I mention the thing is BIG!! It is about 4" wide, 8" tall, and 2" deep.. Nicely laid out overall. It does come with a remote that is nothing special, just a simple remote to operate all functions that you would use the control pod for. All black and fits nicely into your hand.Comes with speaker wire and cables needed to hook everything upHOOK UP--As stated, I purchased my Z-5500 set up for my desktop PC. It is a Media Center Entertainment PC with a High Def sound card. So, I needed to hook them up to this PC.I started with connecting the control Pod to the sub, then the 6 channel direct wires that come with the set up (your basic green, orange, and black analog wires) that connect to the back of your control pod to your PC's sound card. Then, the speaker wires were next... I started with the front left, right, then center.. you will know which speaker wires connect to the front since one of the bags in the box will have three shorter bundles of speaker wire (front left, center, and right) and a separate bag with two longer bundles for the rears. The only issue that I had with the installation process is that the rear speaker wires were not long enough. I rectified this problem by cutting and modifying the fronts since I had too much cable for the fronts. I cut off the excess from the fronts and spliced them into the rears and wahlah, problem solved. At this point,

Got these about a month ago. Great value for the price, and they sound good! Now, obviously, they're not going to deliver the bass that you'd get in a 2:1 setup; there is no subwoofer, and a little desk speaker is not going to replicate the sound of one. That said, the base is clear and sufficient for low-volume iTunes listening and general Internet surfing. The midrange and treble sound good too. The speakers are heavy and sturdy; they seem solidly made. They're a good alternative for people who aren't seeking to set up a hi-fi sound system and just want some good sound to accompany their computer work. 5 stars as long as your usage is casual and computer-related, and not audiophile.

I bought these speakers for my wife last Christmas. They were very easy to plug in, the system recognized it and the sound was acceptable. After about four months, the sound quality had noticeably depreciated. It was also not outputting the sound volume any longer. All configurations with the computer were checked and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. As time went by, the sound quality kept getting worse. The sound volume was such that one had to be in the same room to hear the music playing. Skip ahead to today (20110813) and the speakers no longer work. The pretty blue light is on, but we cannot get the speakers to output any sound. Again, system configurations were checked, reinstalling the speakers to the system didn't work, and it was noticed that Logitech was not in the Device Manager. Was it ever? I don't recall. So, I've got an online post out to the computer gurus in a group I belong to. Maybe they can help figure it out.Whether this matter gets resolved, it should be noted that the several buttons on top of the right speaker are nearly impossible to depress. I can live with the fact that they are small because the speakers are small, but they should at least be functional. We never could get them to work.My suggestion to you is to find another set of speakers - even if it means spending a few extra dollars.

These speakers are well worth the money. They are cheap and easy to set up and give me that little extra kick I am looking for at work. These tiny speakers do not take up too much space and give good vocal clarity and volume I needed in order to replace my laptop speakers. Keep in mind the USB/Mini cable is not very long so be sure your dock/computer is close to where you want the speakers located. I recommend buying if you want a cheap option to add additional volume to your computer sound output.

When I ordered these for my video editing computer, I really wasn't expecting a whole lot. I was wrong. These speaker give exceptional sound for their size (and often better than larger speaker systems).Super easy to set up, especially if your 5.1 surround sound audio card is color coded and if not, just follow the simple directions that come with the speakers. As my husband said, adding these to our system was a 'no-brainer' - just plug them in.I have also hooked these up on my Vaio laptop and once again the sound is fantastic. If you're in the market for 5.1 surround speakers for your system - you can not go wrong with this set from Logitech.

This product works great for the price. Sound is average, but good. If you prefer a more stereo surround sound, then you might want to consider the more expensive laptop speakers. Whenever I watch my favorite TV programs on Hulu.com, I use this speaker on my laptop. The sound output is much greater and clearer than the little tiny speakers on my laptop. And I don't have to turn the volume up to max in order to listen to video sounds. I'm very satified with this product.

These sound really good with my computer! I am in a fairly large size office in my home and having six speakers just makes a rich sounding music or stereo sound for a movie. These 70 watts of total power speakers just rock in a 5.1 surround sound mode. They are easily set up and provide a good experience when used for a TV or computer system. The speakers that are provided are 4 satellites, 1 center speaker and 1 subwoofer. You also get a control center and the cables are color coded for fast wiring and installation. The set comes with a 2 year warranty and I like the construction. The cable lengths were ok for my installation but you may in some cases find them to be a little short, especially the rear speakers. This set of speakers is worth the money as they produce high quality sound that is crisp and clean. I enjoy mine.

With shipping and handling this is over 100.00$'s. When you can go to logitech's website or on newegg and buy their latest one for less? So come on this is a rip, the shipping isn't even included. This isn't even a decent deal.

After reading a lot of reviews looking for "slightly above average" desktop speakers, I settled on these. They seemed a good fit for the price point and quality. I have the Audiophile M-40s at home which sound amazing, but these were just for work to listen to the occasional video clip or plug in my MP3 player. These are very large speakers, but don't put out a lot of sound. When I do turn them up to a decent volume, they get almost "muffled" and slightly distorted. They have a separate "Tone" button which I don't like at all. I can not find a sweet spot, and I think it is unnecessary to include this button. The instructions don't even really explain it, just saying to turn it until you get the sound you like. If anything, a simple "Bass Boost" button like most other speakers would suffice. They are not bad enough to return, but enough so that I would not recommend them unless they dropped to about $15

I bought these for a client. I wasn't expecting much for $10 and USB powered speakers. But I plugged them in and we were blown away by the quality and the power. The sound was full and had plenty of bass, which I didn't expect. We actually had to turn down the volume, they were so powerful. Unexpectedly great sound from inexpensive speakers. Highly recommended! I wish I had more ears.

I bought these after my old Logitech Z-560's finally died out (amp gave up). They had a great run from 2002 until about a week ago. They were clear, packed a good punch, sounded great. So naturally I went with it's spiritual successor, the Z-5500's.First off the wiring is madness. Routing to the sub through the control box, then from the control box to the PC (or whatever device you choose). Both are about 6' cables... thus if you have a setup like mine (sub on left side of the desk, computer on the right, and three monitors with no space for the control box there so it would be on a shelf near the sub)... you're screwed out of the box. That's ok though because I can pick up another longer cable or extensions and rectify that situation for me so I let it slide. Then I turned them on. Started with the sub level at zero... holy crap these sound horrible. My Motorola Droid sounds clearer and packs more of a punch (Ok maybe not really but it's the analogy that counts). Cranked the sub level on and it became 'bearable' at best. The full midrange is driven almost entirely through the sub so there's no clean bass and no clean mid. The highs are extremely lacking to say the least.. the stock JBL stereo in my Tacoma puts out vastly clearer sound. Gaming sounds horrible as well as it's all mixed up in sound again. This is verifying the sound running via the onboard realtek controller on my gigabyte board (same driver I was using on the Z-560's). Positioning is ok. Dolby effects work for mixing the music channels and such... but no matter how much I try to tweak software EQ's there's no salvation.Save your money on this $400 (retail) set of speakers and put a few extra dollars into a home theater in a box... it'll be 3x the system and just as easy to use. Also I'm extremely disappointed in amazon. I know it said this item was unavailable for returns but come on. The magnet is really hazardous cargo and enough to prevent returns? Hopefully someone on craigslist will buy them otherwise I'm out my cash on these.

I've owned a set of these speakers before, and I was very happy with them, worked as they should and I was quite happy with them, therefore I considered buying a second set for my new desktop, but unfortunately the set that I got ended up failing and I was unable to turn them on again after the speakers themselves started emitting strong static noise when I plugged them in, and then suddenly after 20 or so seconds just shut-down. I was just unlucky this time unfortunately...
