I had a low volume in my HP laptop and it was kind of hard to hear sometime while watching the movies. But after I bought these speakers, I never had that issue again. These speakers are great, easy to use with a good sound quality, at a reasonable price.Thanks

I had a set of Gateway speakers with a small subwoofer for several years. I knew that the sound quality, volume and bass weren't very good, but thought that was all I could pull from a PC's sound card. Boy, was I clueless!The Logitech Z-5500 sound system provides unbelieveable sound quality, volume and bass. Plus, the surround sound is exceptional. I cranked up the system to about 3/4 volume and the house was a rockin'! The subwoofer pounds out solid bass, while the satellite speakers produce crisp, clear sound quality that rivals a home stereo system.I still have to read the manual, but was a bit disappointed to find that the the control module includes only 5 built-in "effects". I thought there were more. Don't get me wrong, the included effects sound quite good. I use the Dolby PLII Movie mode to listen to the Sirius spa channel (easy listening), and Stereo x2 for iTunes (Rock and Roll, Classical, Audio Books).I was stunned by the large size of the control module. The images on Amazon don't give you enough perspective - this thing is about 8" tall and 4" wide, and sits on an aluminum stand. It's very easy to use, but larger than the satellite speakers, and just looks a little funny sitting on the top of my desk.Installation was a snap. I have an HP Pavilion m9060n with an analog/digital sound card. I am using the analog connection (for now), using the supplied cables, and it sounds really great!The included speaker wire is sufficient to place the speakers anywhere in a medium-size room.I highly recommend this sound system!!

I bought these at my local BestBuy a little over 3 weeks ago and am thoroughly impressed with them. I have a decent computer but it doesn't have a 5.1 sound card. These speakers come with a "Matrix mode" so that even if you don't have 5.1, this mode will turn on all the speakers.also, the sub that it comes with is awesome, right now I have the system cranked half way and the sound and bass is incredible. The sub really bumps nicely, as compared to similar products this size.All in all, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap, high quality speaker set for their computer.-Kyle

Wow, I read a lot of reviews before purchasing these Logitech V20 speakers for my Dad for his birthday. They are easy to set up, and they sound phenomenal with his laptop listening to music. I have powered speakers that I received as a gift several years ago, and I am jealous. If I wasn't such a frugal person I would get rid of them and buy a pair of these instead-MUCH more convenient with the USB. While yes, my powered ones are a little louder, most times that isn't how I listen to it so it's irrelevant. If you just want some great sounding speakers to listen to music through on your laptop, don't hesitate. I was so pleasantly surprised-and got a $20 Logitech rebate to boot! Can't beat it. Enjoy.

I'm an audio engineer and I was not very happy with these speakers. I thought they'd be great but they sound like they have built in reverb. Very tinny sounding. Oh well - what can you expect for 30$ these days?

I have owned this for about 9 months, here is my updated review:PROS:-Build quality is amazing, like all logitech products. When (if) I ever upgrade to higher-end speakers I'm going to try running over the subwoofer with my car. I doubt it would break.-Sound is AMAZING. But do yourself a favor, get yourself a new sound card. I have a Creative Audigy. With the software included you can do pretty much anything with your sound. The "CMSS 3D" options allow you to create virtual surround sound (since most MP3s, etc, are only stereo) and adjust it however you want.-Visually, everything looks great, and will go well with anything.-The speakers have hooks, so you can hang it on a wall. Rotate the bases of the speakers 90 degrees and they sit on a horizontal surface.-Bass goes quite high. The dial is in the back, and you can up it even more with any non-stock sound card. It rattles the desk and windows.CONS:-The ONLY problem I had is a (rare) manufacturing defect. I'm putting this here in detail, in case someone has the same problem. Otherwise, skip to the bottom line.It is a distinct rattling when the bass is up higher. It was quite distracting. However, after 9 months I finally addressed this problem today. The rattling is caused by the 4 speaker connections in the back. The little colored plastic parts rattle within the steel surrounding. My guess is, on the manufacturing line they temporarily ran out of glue for them. Anyways, I took the 15 or so screws off the back, and removed the rubber around the power cord. I could do nothing to STOP the rattling. Luckily, when I put it back together, and covered up the hole for the power cord with duct tape, the rattling stopped. It turns out, the rattling is muffled by the wood casing, but the sound was escaping through the rubber around the power cord! Now that that area is covered with duct tape, I hear very little to no rattling.BOTTOM LINE: I got these for 40 dollars 9 months ago. You may even be able to beat that price now. With a good sound card and the right options on, these speakers give unsurpassed sound quality. Considering how cheaply you can get them now, why not give them a try?(And if you do happen to get a rare rattling subwoofer, do the smart thing and return it immediately for a new one.)

Previously used Z-5450 wireless THX speakers. That set saves 2 wires for rear speakers and the sound is actually very good. But... what you paid for is your wireless network. Sadly, mine is a 802.11G, same freq range as 5450. My Netgear Mimo router, print server, even my phone all got problems. So much interference from Z-5450.Finally I buried 5450 to garage and bought Z-5500. Have owned it for more than a month. My wireless network now is working without problem. 5500 has a better sound than 5450. The mid and high are very clear. Bass is not very deep but is quite enough for me (sometimes little too much). I use Z-5500 to watch DVD from computer and listen to soft music and classic music. My stereophile speakers are Dinaudio Contour 1.8. Price difference between the 1.8 and 5500 is huge but sound is not that far different. Use 5500 to play string instrument music is really enjoyful.Have tried Logitech G51 at local stores. It's not comparable to 5500 from remote control to sound effect. I would suggest to pay for the extra $100 to get a Z-5500.

I have had these speakers for a couple of months so far.I have the speaker system hooked up to my Computer. They have clear crisp sound and plenty of bass response. It sounds so good we listen to it as a stereo and not the shelf system I have as a home stereo. They are great for true surround sound from any game that has that option. I would recommend them to anyone looking for good value and quality in a small speaker system . Amazon was great to do business with as usual.

This system is well worth the money. Combined with an optical cable for maximum clarity, this system will blow you away! I have this system hooked up to my PC, and I can tell you now that Blu-ray movies sound crystal clear with these speakers!

The first thing my dad said when he saw the box was "Logitech, well then they must be nice speakers". I've been wanting new speakers for awhile and my JBL creatures with little over 70 watts of power werent doing it for me. A guy that lives above me has these speakers and when he plays his rap songs as loud as he can stand it, the bass rattles my room through a cement ceiling. Needless to say there is quite enough power to satisfy most bass enthusiasts and these babies will get LOUD. I enjoy the feeling you get when you turn the speakers up past halfway, yet if you went any higher pictures might fall off the wall and these things can still get louder. Carrying these down the stairs to my room was definately a chore, they weigh a ton! Like 60lbs. I believe.I've read about a few, and I note a few, people have complained about the speakers just stop working after a little while. I've only had them for two days so we'll see how that goes and plus they still need to break in.I wouldn't recommend turning these up past halfway for about the first few weeks of owning them just to let the cones break in and not take the risk of a blown woofer or speaker. I don't really see the need of the boost feature, because im sure at that volume you might as well set up a whole stage set if you want it that loud, plus im sure anything above boost 4 (it goes to 10) will damage the system. But features are a selling point. The sub is huge with magnets to match, so watch the distance from computers, tv's and such. The digital encoding outranks whatever other systems at this price have to offer, such as the klipsch pro5.1 and buying a larger gauge wire is recommended for better quality although it doesnt have to be fancy monster cable or anything.The bottom line here is that these things are hard to dissapoint. Prices are constantly fluctuating due to the popularity and buying seasons so keep and eye out. I watched these go from $250 during fall 06 and rise to about the retail during the christmas season. The prices have changed alot since then too and eventually they will get down to about $260-250 if you watch, plus sometimes free shipping at amazon!

This speaker system is pretty awesome. It sounds great - the sub wolfer is awesome, and the Matrix button disperses the sound through the 5speakers very well. I definitely wouldn't compare it to a good pair of Bose speakers but I definitely think it's clear enough (play w/ the EQ if needed) and worth the money - easily.

I use these speakers at work so I don't usually play them too loud. They sound just fine while I listen to pandora.com all day, and the hard metal grills prevent desktop object from puncturing the speaker cones. I like that they have AUX and headphone jacks on the front between the volume and tone knobs.The only problem I have with mine is that they make a loud popping sound when I turn them on, but it's nothing I can't live with.

Well they sounded great...for the 10 minutes that they worked.The sound cut out mid-song playback. Several hours of web surfing later, I see this is a problem that many users have had.My system successfully detects the speakers, the power is functional, the drivers are loaded, the sound routes to the speakers, and according to windows hardware testing playback is functional. However, sound is no longer coming out of the speakers. Other speakers and built in speaker are all functional.I will be returning these. Logitech customer support is weak. Disappointing, since the speakers sounded decent to my non-audiophile ears - for the 1.5 songs that they were able to play.

I hooked these up to my new 46" HDTV. The sound is fantastic! I never have to have the volume more than half way up. The matrix mode is really cool! Can't miss with these...especially for the price!

as a business traveler who periodically makes presentations, these speakers provide quality sound for my presentations and my clients do not have to stress to hear the audio. it's also great when i get to my hotel and want to listen to some music without a headphone. and, they are very easy to pack with the included pouch.it could use a little more oomph for music, but it meets the grade.

First try, a Mac Mini running 10.4.11. The V20 speakers worked for a few hours, then went silent, and nothing would coax them to work again. Next try, a Windows XP machine, they worked. Then Windows Vista, they didn't work at all. Then Windows 2000, they didn't work at all. That's the last Logitech product I'll ever buy, since Logitech knows about the problems but is still selling these speakers as compatible with everything.For good USB speakers for a Mac Mini, I now recommend the Tritton Sound Bites. Only $28.99, and they'll actually work with a Mac.

I replaced a failed Creative Labs system whcih was not cost effective to be repired (no longer supported). The product arrived as promised and performed well with my PC system. I did not need hundreds of watts of 5.1 sound. Base was good.

These speakers are a God-send for anyone looking to beef up their tiny and crappy notebook speakers. I carry them whenever I know im going to need my laptop for a couple of hours somewhere other than home.Very convenient case and no power requirements other than the USB is also great. Its recognized in almost all my different computers and laptops.The reason for a star being knocked off is the fact that turning up the volume all the way creates some weird static noises. Tune it down just a bit and it works great though, and these things are LOUD.

I was searching for good digital speakers for my new rig and came across this model which was raved about by users across multiple websites. So after spending quite a while convincing myself that these were the speakers that I should be going in for, I finally took the plunge. Trust me when I say this, I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED. These speakers are way more than just a bang for the buck. They are high quality, premium surround sound equipment and will lighten up any living room to the pedestal of a home theater system. Great going Logitech !

I should preface this review by saying that I've worked as a salesman for such speakers as B&W, Sunfire, and Klipsch, so I know what good speakers sound like. Having said that I still love these speakers. Are they super high quality? No. Do they distort? Yes. Would I recommend them for serious listening connected with some Audioquest cables? Of course not.But, when you want to have a 5.1 system for your computer and don't want to spend a bundle, these are hard to beat. They deliver good sound with music and movies. They come with speaker cables that are long enough for my relatively small room. All the plugs are color coded for those who are technology shy when it comes to hooking things up. And the wired control has a handy headphone jack (which I must note disables the volume control on the remote. You will have to control your volume using a software control; I use the wheel on my mouse, and it works out fine).UPDATE: I must say that having owned these speakers for some time now that they are pretty disappointing. I still stand by my original bang-for-your-buck opinion but you would really be well served to find some better quality speakers for your computer. But if you only have a little bit of dough this set could be your answer.

I thought since all the reviews stated the sound was good, I was expecting something similiar to my very old set of Logitech's that I bought in 1989 at Service Merchandise! When I originally bought them, I didn't get the optional sub-woofer because that was another $200.00!! So for some expensive price I bought them and have had them on my pc ever since. They now reside on a secondary pc but are still the best sounding pc speakers for their size. The V20 is half a high, half as thin, about an inch narrower, and about 5% of the sound that the old one's have. ....clarity past 6 on the volume controls is such that they start crackling and sputtering....overdriven either through usb (which is 2.0) or the cone drivers are over driven. Might be that the cables need better shielding? I did expect them to not be as good as my origininal Logitecs, but this is way from worth the amount they are priced at...this is a good $20.00 product....thats ALL!!! I bought a set of Apple speakers at a yard sale for $1.00 that have more volume and clarity! I guess I could just make up some sort of portable kit to carry my orginal Logitech's with me.The IDEA is good, but like someone said, the cord is short..guess you can't lay back and listen while working on a couch or chair of bed.Not sure if I will return them, have to try on another laptop and another pc.I just needed a pair of good speaker take on the road with me for presentations, work in the hotel room, or in the car.Hmmm.... Maybe a set of good Wireless 6" speaker is what I need.Hope all that buy these have good ears because no real volume is capable with clarity of sound.Jim Voorhies

These are fantastic speakers. Even though I have a home entertainment center, I end up going back to my PC to listen to music just because the quality of this set is just so good. I am even considering of moving them to my home theater setup. Oh and it is driven by Creative X-FI Gamer Extreme card in analog mode.The main control unit is a bit too large though - but with nice rubber feet, I have it placed on top of my PC's case, and it does not budge when i press buttons. It works well, but since I am in analog, most of the functions aren't really used.The one drawback is that the sub is huge - and for small home offices like mine, placing it could be tricky.

For the money, these are very good speakers. The sound is,in my opinion, is quite natural sounding. You'll get a little distortion If volume is turned up too high. If your not gaming these'll work find. Neat carrying case too.

(Excuse any mis-spellings)Upon hooking these puppies up I was immediately disappointed by the quality. However, I invited my friend over who is exceptionally good at EQ. We got the speakers sounding DESCENT on my computer but it was still poor. The main issue I had was that every time the bass hit on the sub it would take the sound away from all the speakers. It was almost like the power int he sub reduced the power to the speakers every time it hit. This sounded HORRIBLE! We gave up on the PC and went to the PS3. After putting the setting on the speakers to "PLII Music" the PS3 sounded AMAZING! We were just blown away at the quality of the sound. We went through every game I owned and played it for about 30 min. We then decided to give the PC another try with our new friend(the PLII Music Setting). After about an hour of tweaking EQ we got it sounding just right. The bass no longer reduces speaker volume. It sounds pretty dang good right now. We might keep messing with it but all in all, after a few hours of tweaking, these speakers are an awesome buy. Just don't be shocked when they suck at first!

Bought this product couple of months back and still satisfied with the V20. It has huge bass effect and sound controls on top for a quick pause. No issues. Also got a good looking case. Sounds are nothing less than perfect, for the price.Pros: Compact, huge Bass, Storage Case, external controls, no additional power cable needed, sounds PERFECT for price, No issues so far.Cons: Full sound, which I use rarely, will move the speakers across the table. USB based, so needs to go with a system only. Cannot use it with other sound systems.

Alright Guys, i was a little skeptical at first before buying the item. The reason being that the price is a little hefty if your just going to use it for a computer system. Any gamers out there... your family, friends or whoever is living with you will literally think there are gunshots going off in the house when they hear the sound quality. Best overall speaker system i've ever owned. Thanks to everyone who gave positive reviews that pushed me to buy the unit. Its a great system guys, logitech always has top quality product so do yourself a favor and 'Add to Cart'.

These speakers come with a slim travel case, are USB powered, and sound great for their size. I compared them with the Logitech V20 notebook speakers, and decided to keep these because of their size and weight. Can't use them with my PSP or iPod, but that's ok.

hello everyone ...i bought these two speakers coz i do presentations and training for company professionals ...i think for the price of these two speakers, the deal is about right ..the volume of the speakers is not good for big room ... however, for small room its enoughone draw back on these speakers is that they do NOT stand up properly .. they easily flip or fall to the side .. i wish they can make the base a bit sturdier ... however, if you are ok to lay them down on the side, then you are good to goinstalling them is a piece of cake .. and you can be up and running in minutes

This is just what I needed!! Very inexpensive, takes up little space on my desk, perfect for me!! I was getting a little feedback when I first plugged them in, and placed them on my desk. I pushed them away from my monitor, and whatever else may have been producing the feedback, and I am good to go!!

I use these for my PC. Mainly for listening to music with and without headphones. The sound quality is great, the price is very cheap for the quality that you get. I was already expecting a massive sub but even I was surprised at just how massive it really was. The pictures don't do it justice. Definitely make sure you have room for it.Other reviews pretty much covered everything. Only two real negatives for me. The biggest being that the headphone jack is somewhat weak. The speakers can make the walls shake... but when you plug headphones in you have to turn them all the way up to get it decently high. Headphones at max volume without the boost is acceptably loud for me, but just barely. The other negative which is really minor is that the control center does not have treble adjustment on it. You can adjust treble in windows but it would have been nice to be able to adjust it with the remote like the other options it has.I would have given it 5 stars if not for the weak headphone jack performance.

Very nicely crafted speakers. Speakers are light, but material feels and looks very sturdy. Produces very good high to low range sounds for such a compact size and being powered solely by the laptop USB drive. No installation needed, laptop will automatically recognize speakers. Easy to use controls, and comes with a very nice molded foam/nylon carrying case. Only one minor setback is a USB cord could be a little longer depending on the setup you are using, though this does not subtract from its ratings.

Your search stops here. Just get 'em. The price on this set of speakers has never been lower and is worth every penny. I upgraded from a set of Logitech Z-2300 speakers and the price difference is worth it. I won't go into all the technical details since it's been mentioned many times. The speakers are easy to setup, although it will take a few minutes.Most of all, get a good sound card. Most motherboard onboard cards won't do these speakers justice. I have the HT Omega Claro 7.1 sound card, but there are others which are just as good. Nonetheless, if you can't afford a new sound card, these speakers will sound better than the speakers you probably have.The control panel is very nice and the remote can't be beat. Wiring was plenty long enough for me. Bass is very controllable, so don't let that scare you away. Lots of output options, each which can alter the sound, so pick the one that best suits you.I'm a fan of almost all music, but mainly pop music. One song which I have found to found to test this set of speakers is Pancho and Lefty by Merle haggard and Willie Nelson. This song has a good combination of highs, middles and lows. Set your panel to PLII Music, center 6 bars, surround full bars and sit back about 10-15 feet from the speaker. Make yourself listen to the whole song even if you are not a fan of this type music. You'll be amazed.

These speakers rock! They are both awesome for gaming and for listening to music. The wire control is a really, really nice feature. I was constantly having to try to reach the volume button on the front of my previous speakers. I have the sound blaster Audigy sound card with support for 5.1 and together with the speakers, it is an awesome system for less than $100! I am very happy with my purchase.

Yikes I wished I had known about the problem USB audio device has with Vista prior to picking these up (as detailed by another reviewer). I too am having problem with Vista except I actually got sound to work for a split second on a Sony laptop with Vista SP1 but then nada. The so called hotfix that I found online from microsoft won't install and says it's not for my system. I also tried getting these to work on my Vista SP1 Dell XPS and that's a no go. Perhaps this is the reason logitech and amazon had the $[...] MIR. Factoring the rebate, I now have an $[...] paper weight :(

Insane is all i can constantly think of.These are fantastic speakers and LOUD..Crystal Clear...a must have for Gaming, DVD's and Music.So glad i upgraded for these

I'm generally a big fan of Logitech's products, but this was really a miss. The bass is pretty awful and will make all of your music sound like someone is beatboxing over the kick drums. EQing out the bass in iTunes helped a little, but still did not remedy the problem.I ended up returning them. Got the Yamaha NX-U10 unit instead (USB Powered Stereo Speaker) and am extremely happy with it!

I wasnt expecting much from these speakers but I was pleasantly surprised. Most notebook speakers are weak, and the ones on my MacBook Pro are no exception. These Logitech speakers are small, very portable, and sound great.Pros:- Small, lightweight- Includes holding case- Sound great- Works instantly when plugged in (I used them on my Mac and PC)- No power cable!Cons:- Being lightweight, they may vibrate if you listen to bass heavy songs- Would be nice if they had more grip on the legs
