My netbook speakers are almost inaudible if the room is any noisier than a library, headphones aren't always a good solution, but this little speaker provides surprisingly good sound quality, powered from the USB, and it's not too big. There is an aux input, but it requires power from the USB port to power the speaker (no batteries involved here). The clamp works ok on the thin netbook, but not great. If sound quality is important to you, you'll like it.
If you are looking for a powerful surround system without having to pay the home theater prices, look no further. When I purchased the Z-5500 set, I knew the speakers would be loud and sound pretty good. They better for [$...] bucks right? Well I had no idea that they would sound THIS LOUD and THIS GOOD. I am blown away (quite literally) by the quality that Logitech has maintained in this product. I recommend this system to anyone looking for an affordable sound solution for an entertainment/gaming room setting. The total watts and optical input is what sold me, what about you?
If you are looking for a higher-end speaker system for your computer, I recommend this system. It sounds great for gaming, video, and listening to music.
These speakers are just right for watching videos on your laptop. I would prefer they had a regular speaker jack connection, though. You can't just plug them in/out while a movie is playing. You have to close and reopen your program before the speakers will be recognized, which is a little annoying.
Now we're talking 27 dollars here. The speakers weigh a ton which is GREAT! They have a regular AC plug instead of some huge block which is GREAT! They have 2 inputs and 1 output which is REALLY GREAT! I'm thinking of picking up another set and at the price it's a buy!
We have several different brands of laptops here at work: Acer, HP, an old Sony, and an old Gateway, this portable speaker attached to every one of them; (update: it also fits just fine on my Dell at home). From a female's perspective, I found this speaker to be cute, as far as speakers go - it just looks nice, period. But besides being cute, it's also designed well - inside the clip section there is rubber cushioning so it won't scratch your computer. The sound is fairly good, but don't expect Bose-quality. It's easy to install - just plug in the USB cord - each computer found the hardware immediately whether it was XP, Vista or Windows 7 - I tried on all 3 OS's.The USB connection is on the back, along with a 3.5mm jack for an MP3 player (you would have to play this while running through the computer). If you don't want to clip it on your PC, it also has rubber feet on the bottom of the clip so you can just sit it beside your computer if you wish to do that instead. It also comes with a drawstring carry case, in addition to the USB cord.
I got tired to the hulking SoundBars for my desktop, and wanted something small, unobtrusive, and USB powered (no wires). I bought this Logitech Z205. I know it's for laptops, but I thought it would sit right under my monitor and made my music sound better than the iMac's built-in speakers. But this product's sound quality is horrible; the iMac's speakers are vastly superior. I could not bear to listen to any kind of music at any volume. Maybe I got a bad one, but I'm not willing to try again.
I dont even know where to start here..these would be my 3rd Logitech surround sound speakers..previously owned the z2300s which for the money were a nice setup but I gotta say the 5500 blow those babys out of the water by far...The bass on these will know a hole into your neighbors wall..even if your houses arent connected haha...Anyways I love all types of music but these speakers completely shine with anything electronic and as well as the hiphop genres..Clarity is great with them..I hear all the sounds without having to worry about an overpowering bass or lack of quality..Rock is also great to hear on these with the heavy double pedal bass songs too..I love the control pad it comes with that has many functions and settings..very useful for movies btw..And thats another thing about these speakers..I saw transformers 2 in blueray 5.1 and OMG i felt like those giant robots were right in my house lol..When you see something explode on screen the bass that is produced from these will shake your entire room..Ive never owned a set of speakers like these before..I know theyre a little pricey but its well worth the money especially if youre like me and pirate all of your movies in 5.1 blueray haha..
Great for a laptop or notebook with chintzy speakers. One USB cable included for power, no A/C adapter required. Clips on top edge of laptop and has power/volume control. Just a very nifty product with a fair price made by a name-brand company.
Much better than the laptop speakers. Better volume but would have liked it to be some more. Sound is better than lpatop speakers. Designis comfortable and easy to use.
Comes in a well packed large box. The subwoofer is huge for a computer speaker system. Set up was easy and you can change to high grade speaker cables for longer runs. Sounds great in games, videos, and internet TV. A must have for watching movies on your PC.
The Speakers are incredible! It was a little annoying that there was no manual that came with it, but I'm not sure as to whether or not that's the seller or the companies fault. I would recommend theses speakers to anyone who loves music and the seller to anyone who wants the product delivered in a timely manner and in great condition.
I read the reviews and had my doubts, it sounded like a good deal but read how some complained about the bass and how they crackled at loud volume. I researched many different speakers and these were some of the highest rated by users. Let me put your mind at ease, there is no way you can beat these for around $25. They are good solid built speakers. I listen to a lot of music off my computer including big band and vocals and these speakers more then support this with a nice surrounding sound. They also work well when turned up, now not sure if they would work for a drunken party where you have to have it cranked up to full or if it works well for thumping bass, but I do know that they do go way loud enough to be heard in another room with no loss and no cracking. I admit they may not make the cut for a serious surround super high quality sound, but at the price and for personal use, I don't think you will be disappointed. If you are searching for concert hall booming sound then you shouldn't be looking at $25 speakers, you are dreaming, go ahead and spend more and get those expensive speaker systems. For the rest of us that want decent sound at a decent price, these are the speakers for you.
I purchased these speakers a couple years ago for less money than they are currently sell for, but I still think they are a good value. They do take up a bit of real estate on the desk, but they have very good sound quality. They have held up well over the years too. I never crank the volume too high, but they definitely produce more volume than I will ever need.
I really liked this unit...when it worked. Two defective units! I liked it so much that I am giving it one more try. Great sound and light. Logitechs technicians said units could have come from a "bad batch".
These speakers sound great but bass could be a bit better. They look awesome and are easy to setup and use. I like the mic input and I am overall satisfied with my purchase. I upgraded from an older cheaper pair of $10 speakers and I am glad I can listen to music from my computer in a much better quality. I did not want a subwoofer and these seemed the best 2.1 speakers out there as far as price and quality, so I would definitely recommend them.
My problem appears to be with the way that Amazon's search engine works, rather than the speakers. The exact search words I entered was "wireless computer speakers", and when these came up in the search I figured that they were indeed wireless. My fault is that I didn't click on any of the smaller pictures, but the large picture they chose to show of the speakers were the speakers with the wires photoshopped out of the picture. I liked the price, so I bought them. I was very disappointed when they arrived. I called Amazon and complained. Their reply was just that I entered too many search words. Too many?? If I would have just entered "wireless" can you imagine how many matches I would have gotten? I think Amazon needs to fix their search. Just be careful what you enter when you are searching for something and order. You may not get what you want! The speakers are just fine I guess. My previous speakers seem to be able to adjust to a much much louder volume than these do. That would be my only complaint.
I like the option of standing the speaker up or attaching to the frame. The sound isn't the absolute best, however for the price it performs very well. I would recommend this to anyone that has difficulty hearing some of the movies etc on their laptop.
The Best PC speakers I've ever owned, I have owned meny sets of PC speakersprice and sound quality are very important to me and they deliver on bothfar better then Creative Labs speakers at a better price, I would buy again
Easy installation, worked right out of the box. Good sound quality and controls.Excellent bang for the buck.
I had purchased the Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205 for my laptop. I love it. It sounds great and great for taking with me were ever I go. It is light weight and I hardley know that it is there on my computer as I am watch a tv show or playing a game. If you are looking for a great sound source for you laptopo then the Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205 isi for you. Love it.
I have owned logitech speakers for many years now and they continue to blow me away. I have had my current set five years now and it still has amazing quality sounds and this set is just as awesome. I have seen many other sets much more expensive that do not come close. I can also easily switch use between my laptop, desktop, and tv pretty easily. I have them pretty loud at times (it's awesome during action movies, it sounds like somethings exploding right behind me. I can even feel the sound vibrations) and never have to worry about them "blowing out." Don't let the cheap price fool you, it will definately out perform your expectations.
These have great sound quality for my laptop, but it depends on the media quality you are listening to. I find on Youtube some of the videos have bad audio which makes the speakers crackle when loud. If I get a good Gaga video on Vevo, well these speakers rock. FYI I don't think there is a laptop out there with good speakers, have been searching for awhile. If any of you know of a good laptop with awesome speakers for under a grand, well let me know! I am happy with these puppies for now.
Like many other reviewers, the speakers started out fine, then just stopped working. The computer still recognizes them, the controls still work, just NO sound comes out. I wasn't even using the speakers when the problem started. An alert "bubble" popped up stating a malfunction and they haven't worked properly since. I even connected them to another computer, and they still didn't work. Buy at your own risk!
I build premium computers at reasonable prices for people in my area and whenever a client asks for speakers these are always the first set I turn to. It provides gorgeous full sound consummate for well above the price point. Easy to set up, all the cords are plenty long. The only thing is the speakers appear larger in the photo than they actually are and at first I was a little put off by it, however, they still provide excellent at have fit comfortably on any desk that I have put them on. If you are looking for high quality sound these will fit your needs I am sure.
and 5.1 had heard other pretty decent, but this makes a difference the bass sounds great, the voices you are super, to a PC is much sound to a room and watch movies and play video games more perfect could not ask me love This 1.5 100% recommended .. from venezuela I (L) amazon.com
After spending a long time on a desktop with a top of the line sound system (audigy 2ZS sound card and klipsch speakers), I was spoiled. And when I got myself a laptop, I was utterly horrified by the wimpy sound coming from it's speakers. I picked these up, and am suddenly spoiled again.Although the sound is not quite on the same level as my old desktop, it's still a lot better than your typical desktop setup. These little guys can fill a small/mid-sized room with their sound fairly easily, and while there is no subwoofer, the sound is still relatively deep and rich. They're extremely easy to setup (just plug them into the nearest available USB port), and are much more portable than speakers of this quality have any right to be. They come packed in a very nice zip-up case which does the job of protecting them while in transit, and will fit easily into most backpacks or laptop bags.As good as they are, though, they're not perfect. Sound starts to distort at around 80% of max volume (which is really really loud, by the way), and the pads on the bottom of the speakers aren't nearly "sticky" enough, as they like to "walk" across my desk when the base/volume gets turned up.
We really liked this product. They are small but have good sound and depth. It is very easy to move and point them where you want. Very glad we ordered these speakers.
I've had the Z-5500's now for about 9 months and my opinion of them hasn't changed since day 1. For the money, as countless others have stated, this system can't be beat. 500 watts with THX certification? Forget about buying anything else and get this system, that is, unless you have the money to build a system, piece by piece. I actually purchased this system from a competing company to amazon, for $198 plus free shipping. Buy your cables from monoprice.com for a few dollars a piece and you're ready to rock.forget what others say, this system is LOUD. So loud, it shakes my whole house and can be heard blocks down the street if I have a window open and crank the volum up to boost mode. I use these speakers as my livingroom surround sound, hooked up to a Samsung 46-inch 550 model and PS3 for Blu-ray, DVD, and mp3. If I don't feel like turning the ps3 on to listen to music, I'll just connect my iPod directly through the auxillary imput. These speakers more than fill up a room that is 350+ square feet when watching a movie. So, anyone who says they sound "hollow" or "tiny" when placed in a large room is full of crap.My only real complaints are: It would be nice to have wireless rear speakers, for obvious reasons. It's a pain running speaker wire all around the room and trying to hide it from view. AND, the speaker wire they give you isn't nearly long enough if you're not using this system in a small dorm room, so be prepared to shell out for your own speaker wire. Also, no HDMI input/output. Logitech should really update this design to meet the growing technology. However, for the price, this isn't a sticking point. I mean, this blows away competing systems at 2 times the price and 5.1 through optical hookup still sounds pretty darn good. So, I can overlook this flaw. I highly recommend you purchase this system. Use the money you save for a good blu-ray player, like a ps3
I was really impressed and fully pleased with this product. Very clear, and extensible to offer multiple connection options. I am very happy with my purchase.
I bought these EIGHT years ago, and they are still working as well as the day I bought them. Booming base, nice simple remote, and have not had a SINGLE problem since the day i got them in 2002. Best speakers you can get for the dollar, and you shouldn't have to replace them for years to come.Only negative thing is the bass is almost too booming. I keep it 1 notch from off and it's perfect, but all you hear is bass even if it's only halfway up.Love them!!
I have owned this speaker for 6 years, I have to say, the quality is still the same, Logitech Z5500 ROCKS, the subwoofer is a monster, believe me or not, I've never tried this speaker at +11 maximum level because I do afraid my windows won't be in place! its bass sounds tight and cool, not like the cheap one. For movie, the real surround sound give you real movie experience, this speaker hooks up to my PC, my PS3 and I can switch input channels.I rarely leave a review for an electronic device but today I think I have to write something.Keep it up Logitech! I will definitely choose Z5500 if I have to buy a new or extra speaker in the future!
I've purchased three other notebook speakers. The V10 is BY FAR the best of the lot. First, they are loud. I have to turn the volume down when watching movies. Second, they are USB powered so there's no AC adapter or batteries to worry about. Third, they are rather small so I can put them into my notebook bag. I am super pleased with these speakers. You won't beat them considering price, size, ease and sound.
I tried these speakers on my Asus 1008 HA netbook. Needless to say, the speakers on my netbook are pretty weak and the sound quality at high volumes leaves much to be desired. These speakers attach to the top of the monitor with a clamp and a chord runs to the USB port. So it's a little awkward if I run an external optical drive, a speaker, and a power chord at the same time - looks like the poor little netbook is on life support. The speakers hold in place pretty well, but adds heft and the balance of the netbook is thrown off a little. The sound quality is an imporvement over the speakers that came with the netbook - but it's a very modest improvement. Honestly, I'm not sure I can envision a time when I really need a step up in audio quality with a netbook. If you're looking for something that adds a tremendous amount of sound quality, these speakers are not for you.
Update 12/24/2011! >>> See an update to my original post at the bottom of this review!!! <<
I did a lot of research out here prior to ordering these speakers and most everyone had a favorable review. I purchased them in May with no problems and they worked great with my Dell laptop. In late July they quit producing sound...it appears they are working on my control panel but no sound comes from the speakers anymore and the mute button is not on. Unfortunately I am past my month return date so I am stuck with $50 speakers that don't work anymore.
Bought for my college dorm room, got told by the RAs they could hear our movie two floors down on the other end of the courtyard. If thats not what you're looking for in surround sound then you don't need it. Perfect product, great price, and amazing sound.
well all i can say it a great speakers, it my first time using a pretty big speakers for my pcs settting, i never really care about sound but this make me knew the different between each different type of speakers now, i love the speakers but i hate UPS lol they take long ask time to delievered even when im only like 5 min away from their main host lol
Just got my speakers today(10-11-10), shipped out fast. I plugged in the speakers and restarted my machine and whala they work perfectly! The sound is great given it's compact size. I tried them on my desktop first and I love them. Way to go Logitech!
I bought this system for a gaming racing chair setup and connected it to a Playstation 3 using a digital optical cable. When I first setup my game chair, steering wheel/pedals, TV and Playstation 3 to test everything, I only used the TV speakers (not very good). My gaming race chair setup came to life once I installed the Z-5500!! This system is better than my $1000+ Sony Home Theater system.
Decent looking and sounds great for my application. However one of the front speakers output stopped working after a week. I simply used a splitter to use the signal from the one that does work. The Subwoofer is nice for a PC system but not as a home theater pc set up as I am using mine. (So I added an addtional subwoofer). Thus after my modifications Im quite happy with the way my speakers sound. I can understand the subwoofer issue; but I hate the fact that front speaker out put stopped working for no reason.
Great desktop speakers. Perfect for gaming, above satisfactory for music. If you're looking for just music speakers then there may be a better set out there for around the same price. The subwoofer is definitely loud, but for music I've heard a better sounding woofer before. But, do NOT pay 900+ dollars for them. They are now out of production as a new line is in. Buy those instead.
I bought this Logitech Z-5500 as my computer speaker about two years ago. I would say this is the best computer speaker that I've ever had. I play lots of hard rock, heavy metal, new age, folk songs in mp3 format. I am very picky on sound quality of the music that I listen to. The Logitech Z-5500 delivers very accurate and powerful sound in all frequencies. It works best in a room that is not so large. I have purchased hundreds merchandise from Amazon so far. The Logitech Z-500 is among my top 5 best buy. I recommend it to the ones that have picky ears on music like I do.
I bought two of these. Before they both broke -- each within 6 months of the purchase date -- they suffered from similar problems. The speakers would disconnect from Windows (Vista & Win7), and you'd have to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in, sometimes several times, to get the audio back. The V20 connects to your computer via a single USB cable, or rather, the first speaker is connected using a USB cable, and the second speaker is connected to the first using a standard 3.5mm audio cable. This audio cable, which is built in and can't be replaced, is of extremely low quality. I had to wiggle the connection constantly to get sound out of the second speaker. These things are overpriced junk. If I bought one Logitech V20 and it broke, I could say maybe I got a bad copy, but two, both failing with the same problems, means poor design and poor manufacturing.
This is a very good option for portable speakers, easy to install, great sound and powerful enough for a 50 people room. I try others but really find this very appropriate.
I want to start out by saying these logitech speakers are great! Im using them with my xbox to increase the sound volume and get some sort of surround sound out of the speakers and they do a great job at that! the cords that you connect to the speakers arent very long so dont plan on being able to put them very far away from the subwoofer! there is about 10 feet of cable for each speaker. For 90 bucks these speakers are a great buy but dont expect them to have enough power to fill a large living room adequately
I connected these speakers to my HP laptop (with Vista) very easily. Seemed to work fine. Then I tried a different USB port. No sound. Went back to previous port. No sound. An afternoon spent checking for drivers and connections, diddling with Control Panel settings, etc., did no good. I am returning them. Perhaps they were defective, but I'm not going to try the same product again and go through this hassle.
These are good speaker but they will crack sometimes at some frequency level. Overall they are really good it's just that once in a while frequency it hits will make that crackling sound.
