One of the wireless speakers has a HUM, very loud, that persists even if I move it to a different electrical circuit, reset it, move it to a different part of the room. Therefore I don't use it - I leave it unplugged. Also, the volume control on the remote - which is sort of indispensable - does not work properly. The button sticks. I have never seen this before on a remote, except maybe 20 years ago with clunky TV remotes. I am waiting to see if Logitech will send replacements. A search of the web found many other people with similar problems, discussing it on tech bulletin boards.Still, the sound is great. I would have ordered another unit, for a different room of the house, but they clearly have quality control problems. If they fix this, I will post again.

These compact speakers deliver good sound for a modest price, and the self-contained stand folds down for easy transport in the supplied case. One reviewer noted a tendency for the speakers to vibrate and move around in response to deep bass acoustics, and I find the same. I suspect this can be prevented by applying a strip of tape to the bottoms to give a higher friction surface.

There are some nice aspects about these speakers, such as the 70 watts and the ability to be wall-mounted. The sound quality sucks. These speakers are hooked up to a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and they still sound bad! 65% of my complaint of sound quality is the bass. It's "boomy", there's too much of it, and it's too loud, even at its lowest setting! If you live in an apartment and are concerned about noise, don't buy these!

At first when I took the speakers out of the box I was kinda intimidated.... I didn't know what went where and how it would all work, but it turned out to be ridiculously simple... The subwoofer unit had its own power connection and its own separate volume control, all other speakers would then plug into that unit.. and then the main on/off switch and volume is on the right front speaker...After I got all the speakers properly connected to each other, it was a simple matter to plug it into my sound card, and then after tweaking some software, I was able to watch DVD movies in 5.1 stereo and enjoy games in 5.1 stereo as well...The 5 satellite speakers are small but each one kicks out decent sound for their size, and the subwoofer does a good job of filling the room with sound...I feel it was well worth the price, easy to set up, and so far I've been very pleased with it.

The speakers provide very clear and ear-pleasing sound, with the controls on the right speaker serving as a virtual remote control for windows Media Player. I knocked off one star for the very short cord between the notebook and speaker. I suppose I could use a USB extension.I originally bought them so I could hear the GPS voice more clearly in the car. They certainly accomplish that! But they are equally effective at reproducing music. (My music collection of 300+ CD's is on my notebook.)I've congratulated myself for buying them.

I was recently searching for a new speaker system for my computer, but I was looking for something with all the specs. I looked at all the different [high quality] brands like Altec Lansing and Creative Labs. I did a lot of research for speakers [about a few months] before I decided to get the Logitech z-5500.Pros--Crisp sound... AMAZING quality.-Able to use it on your tv or home theater system.-Able to use it for playing games on your tv or whatever you want.-Remote.-Nice control box.-Bass is incredible.-Volume for it is the best. It has 20 bars for the volume, but you can go past that... 11 more times [boost 11]. My walls begin to shake with the volume on about 4 or 5 [that's pretty loud already].-There are different settings for the center speaker, the surround, and the sub. [Set it to what you like best.]-There are also settings for if you're watching a movie, playing music, stereo, stereo x2, 6 channel direct. These settings will maximize your quality.Cons--Too many wires - it took me a while to set it up, but it was worth it. There's a red and black wire [one of those wires that has 2 different ones but are connected] that you need to connect to each speaker. It was kinda annoying. The wires are very long, but the purpose of that is for you to mount the satellites in the corner [I haven't gotten the chance to do that so I have a whole bunch of wires sitting in 1 place]. Not a big deal for me when I get the chance to mount them.- When you turn off the speakers, there is still a red light that glows from the control box. I don't really like to leave things "on" [even tho it's really off], so I have to put the plug into a circuit breaker and turn the whole thing off every time.-After I set it up, it was a bit confusing to figure out how to turn on the speakers and later I found out that the switch for the whole speaker is located in the back of the sub. [Not a big deal]

The sound created by these speakers is almost ridiculous for a computer...not that I'm complaining. For just over $200, you're definitely getting your money's worth. The subwoofer is a monster and has to be kept about two feet away from any electronics that you don't want fried which makes it interesting in a dorm room (you might want to go with a smaller setup for a standard dorm room...trust me). The control center and remote control are great features as well, both being easy to use and operate. Setup of this system is incredibly easy as well.I bought the speakers mostly for movies since I watch most of my movies on my computer, and they don't disappoint - I would imagine that, being THX certified, they're specifically made to sound great with movies. I just watched Stealth with these speakers - they truly do recreate theater sound. However, the bass doesn't really sound as good with music - it's more of a deep rumble and less of the punch sound.If I can recommend a seller, I bought mine from TigerDirect, and I used standard shipping but still received the speakers in two days.

I got these for my XBOX 360 and I could not be happier. The speakers sit nicely on my desktop and they even look good just sitting there! But when you turn this thing on... look out! This setup rocks the house! Now I can finally hear where those footsteps are coming from in COD2 and movies sound awesome also. I put in Revenge of the Sith last night and the sound was spectacular.If you are looking for a nice basic kick-booty setup for your gaming console or small home theater, you will have a hard time finding a better product than this. I highly recommend them. Shipping was only $36 for standard 3-5 day, but they arrived in only 2 days!!!The only negative is that my Monster optical cable does not fit tightly, but the cable could be the source of this problem. For now it works so it is no big deal. If it becomes an ongoing problem I may try another optical cable.

I had read a favorable online review of this satellite - sub combo and made the purchase since the price was a real attraction. I have not been disappointed. At this time, I have this set up both at home with a laptop base station for everyday satellite radio/Itunes listening and also at my work station. With the sub hidden under the desk and two small satellites flanking my PC, I can fade in and out of reality during my stressful work day while listening to XM Radio- I get comments from nearly everyone that comes in - it just sounds that good at low to medium volume. When prices are this competitive, you can't go wrong. Gone are the days of my big cabinet speakers.

Alright, so after about 2 weeks of searching for a speaker system to get I finally decided on the 5500. It's kind of sketchy making this decision because I have never heard the actually sound produced by the speakers...just read countless numbers of reviews. So last night I told me self, "Hey the price is down to 269 with "free" shipping so I'll order them in the morning." Well I woke up and was so angry to find out that the price had risen to 306 (Well there's where the shipping isn't free anymore). I was soo mad. I had remembered reading the reviews and one stuck out in my mind. It is tnhe one from Jim (Texas). He states that he had the same problem as me. His revied says that he e-mailed them many times and they finally honored the lower price (even though the price was still higher). So I decided to e-mail Amazon today and tell them of my concern. I got one of those automated e-mails back which did not address my concerns at all. So then later that night I decided I would call Amazon and see what happened. I was on the phone and after giving them all my information I told them the whole story and how I read the review of Jim. The lady told me she really couldn't do anything for me. She stated something to the effect of: 'I really can't do anything for you...I don't know why Jim's situation was honored....It really depends on the person you talk to on the phone that determines the outcome of the situation.' I was pretty aggravated after getting off of the phone. How can one person be honored their request and then an Amazon associate tells you that the situation will be determined by the person you talk to. Maybe i'll just keep calling and see if I can sweet talk one of them. As for the Logitech 5500 speakers I really can not wait to get them, I am just really disappointed in Amazon's inability to treat customers equally.1/4/05 update- Well after a very intense e-mail writing to Amazon how I did not want an automated e-mail in return I recieved a somewhat more personal e-mail. After being a little aggressive they were really nice about honoring my request...so I thank them for that...I'll post another review on the speakers later.

I bought these speakers less than a month ago and after trying really hard to like them for a couple of weeks, I promptly shipped them back to Amazon. I like logitech products (their mice are second to none) and the 5500 is definitely an interesting concept but the execution is poor. Not only is the subwoofer huge and heavy (not necessarily a bad thing) but it sounds boomy and is all over the place - one of the worst subwoofers I've heard. The satellites sound tinny and they do not blend with the subwoofer and there's a huge hole where the midrage should be. I could go on and on, but let me sum it up: If you care about sound quality, save your money and get something else. I gave them two stars because I liked the whole design concept but that's about all I could find positive about them.

these speakers are awesome! 5.1 surround sound format, has a variety of inputs, heaphone out, digital optical and coaxial in, and 3 mini jacks.the sound quality is superb, the bass is not overwhelming if you set it to the right setting. the sound quality is crisp and clear. my dad played with these speakers more than i did when i got them.and amazon and fedex rock. amazon had a 5% off discount with free shipping offer. i took advantage of that and paid less than $220 shipped. i was scheduled to receive the speakers 5-10 days after i ordered it (i ordered it on a saturday morning) and received it in 3 days! i was leaning towards getting the 3 day shipping for $60 but i didnt have the money, so i got the free shipping. what do you know, i got free 3 day shipping.

The bass sounds very hollow and boomy. The woofer is also too loud compared to the left and right speakers. Since there's no way to adjust the volume of the woofer separately, I ended up not being able to turn the speakers up as much as I wanted to -- the bass would overpower the rest of the sound when I did.The volume control is deceptive. When you turn the volume up 50%, you get about 90% of the maximum sound output. The remaining half of the volume control is pretty much useless.The cord connecting the left and right speakers is permanently attached to both of them, which can be annoying. It's about 6 feet long -- too short for my desk. The input cord and the cord to the woofer are also permanently attached to the right speaker.

Pros:It's 5.1 and it's cheap, good for games that support positional soundCons:Sound quality is not very good, I have 2 Creative T2900 which I use as a 4.1 system and these sound much better than X-530 however they don;t give me good positional sound when playing games

These speakers are superb. My friend had them and I was jealous and got some.After they were initially hard to hookup, and I had to get a whole new sound card, they sound great.However, after a month or two one of the speakers randomly starts hissing/rattlings. It sounds really bad but its only on some songs and stuff.Nothing better than this on the internet though.

I have tried to find a great surround system for my office PC. JBL theater, JBL computer (close) along with various others. Nothing quit right untill....I set the Log.Z-5500 up turned them on and found myself hanging on to my chair for dear life. And this is with an ok sound card.I'm waiting for my Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty to arrive. At that time I will probaly find myself on the moon.If you are looking for 'just right' this is it and a whole lot more. The surround is 'reality at it's best'. The bass is for the house down the block, the satilites are beautiful and the over all control is for anyone over 2 years old. Some real thinking and design went into these. Don't miss 'em. ROCK-N-ROLL!

If you want premium music listening and gaming experience, what are you waiting for?? Stop reading this review (and any other review). Just buy it! I am no audiophile, far from it. And maybe that's why I can't hear a lot of difference between these speakers and a pair of $3000 speakers + $1000 receiver that my father has.I use Audigy 2 ZS on my computer, but after I tried my friend's Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic with these speaker, I immediately decided to buy the X-Fi sound card! With the 24-bit Crystalizer of X-Fi on, this card+speaker combo will blow anything to the outer space!

So far I've been underwhelmed by the product, but I'm not at all sure it's because of the product or my laptop. After listening to a variety of small portable iPod speakers in the Apple store, I expected a similar result from this unit but did not find that to be true. Also, I get a bit of popping and noise from the USB supplied audio, and I've read in other reviews that this can be a problem with laptop computers and USB sound. Using the headphone jack to supply the sound while still tapping the USB port for power would likely eliminate this problem. But that may not be fair criticism of the product given that ANY USB fed audio device might suffer the same problem on my set up. Of more concern to me was the near total lack of ability to produce bass that these, comparatively LARGE, portable speakers seem to suffer. Now I didn't expect much so please don't count me a fool! But I did hope for a listening experience that would match what I was hearing in the Apple store with the portable iPod speakers. Nope, I don't think Logitech has managed it. In the end, these ARE much better than the laptop speakers however, I must honestly admit that.

I really like these speakers. I just got them the other day to replace a pair of speakers that I had outgrown. I realized I've been using my computer more and more as a listening station, not just when I am sitting at the computer but when I am doing household chores, etc. and I wanted something that would sound decent.Anyway, these speakers are great. The sound is full and rich, I LOVE the subwoofer as I am a person who likes to hear a lot of bass in her music. The connection was great and simple. Tip for Mac PowerBook users. Instead of getting a soundcard, which can be difficult to find at a decent price for a Mac, get three headphone splitters (which are like 4 or 5 dollars each) and connect these speakers through your headphone jack on your PowerBook. The sound quality is not diminished and you will save yourself like 50 bucks. Plus, these speakers are very cheap on Amazon, even with shipping, they are like 20 dollars less than other stores. I saw these in Target for like 100 dollars. Overall, a great purchase.UPDATE - 11/2007 - So, the subwoofer blew. Why? I'm really not sure but, speakers with no woofer isn't cool. Boooooo.

Found this set-up on Amazon for about $270- which I thought was fair. It's pretty hard to get anything that sounds decent for under a grand so you could say that this was a solid purchase. They do a good job for a small price. The sub is fair but as you might have guessed tends to get in over it's head(not enough amp).I would have rather had a more punchy 8" sub instead of an under powered 10".The best part of this whole deal is that you can use it for PC, DVD, Gaming, or THX for a bedroom without having to unplug it from one thing to the next. Everything is fairly simple to hook-up. Have Fun!

Pretty good sound for the price. Although the front and center speakers are much louder than the rear speakers. Pretty good bass from the subwoofer. Easy connections. Would recommend for the cost conscious shopper.

Logitech is one of my favorite manufacturers of electronics, i have their wireless keyboard and optical mouse now the great sound system. YOU CANT EVEN CALL THEM COMPUTER SPEAKERS.. they are MORE THAN THAT!! A Home theater! for your computer.. they are well worth the price i paid and more. for this price you can buy multiple of these systems to equal one tiny bose system. Hook these up to your computer, game system , and tv/dvd player. the inputs on the controller are teriffic! THIS THING IS HUGE!!!! it is much larger then it appears on screen. you need more than one person to carry it in, a forklift, or a hand truck. everything comes packaged in an enormous box filled with 100's of plastic baggies. everything is indavidually wrapped and secured. I ordered my from amazon NEW because it was the best deal i found around. even on ebay they wanted an outrageous amount for a used system. THIS IS A GREAT DEAL BUY FROM AMAZON.com . it took 1 day from when i ordered it to get to my house in NY!!! amazed! A good SOUNDCARD to go with this system is the Creative soundblaster audigy2 ZS or platium.THE BASS Shakes the pictures of the wall in my 10' x 12' room, i just smile as it vibrates through my brainYOU WONT REGRET IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought this from Dell because of a great coupon promotion they had. I needed a surround system for my bedroom and when I received this system and installed it (quite easy), it was amazing! I was trying to figure out the best way to connect it to my dvd player and decided on the single coax cable. Thats all it took to connect! One cable and it automatically reads what dvd sound processor you are playing or you can manually set it up. I like to watch concert dvds and the first one I watched was The Eagles...When Hell Freezes Over in DTS. One word: Amazing!!!! DTS is the best to listen to any concert dvd. It is amazing and of course, normal movies in 5.1 Dolby surround also sound great. The remote does everything you need and the control module is very sleek and handles everything. The sub is very powerful and like other reviews I have read here, there is just a slight lack of mid range that I balanced out by turning up the speakers on my TV and it filled it in nicely. If you want to play music with your IPOD, you just plug it into the side of the control module and play, its that easy. My friends who have listened to this have all ordered one. This is a great buy for a great system.

These speakers RoXorS MY BoXors! Seriously, I just upgraded from an inferior logitech set that was not doing my Sound-Blaster x-fi justice. These speakers deserve every review they have received. The Bass is NOT overpowering unless you do it on purpose. It is fun as hell to crank up the sub though and literally feel you music. I haven't yet tried to turn these speakers up all the way. Hurts my ears way before I get to that point. These are on sale at dell for about 263.00 w/free shipping. Buy them if you have the funds. If you like loud and good sounding anything, then you won't regret it.

I was thinking about getting the Z-5500 Speakers, but thought I would give these a try since they were about 1/5th the price. Excellent decision, as these speakers sound great...even paired with my old Sound Blaster 2 AUDIGY. I have my own house and like to crank the volume on movies, games and music (I love Christie True!) as loud as I can take it. Even at 3/4, these things are too loud to handle unless I am drunk or worse. No distortion, the Bass sounds great even at high volumes.This is the first review I have ever written on anything. I felt obliged since these speakers worked out so nicely.

EXCELLENT SOUND WITH OR WITHOUT A COMPUTER,WIRELESS REMOTE,LONG RCA CABLES,AND A VERY HEAVY SUB. THIS SYSTEM HAS KILLER ACCURATE BASS(WHICH I LOVE) AND THE SATTELITES ARE VERY IMPRESSIVE!! GREAT FOR ANY TYPE OF MUSIC,MOVIES,GAMES,IT WITH ROCK WITH ANYTHING!!! I PAID $240.98 ON HERE FOR THIS SYSTEM AND OVERNIGHT DELIVERY($229.99 PLUS $10.99 FOR OVERNIGHT SHIPPING). First of all I am a musician and a sound engineer so I do know what I am talking about. I own both speakers and have compared them side by side with the same sound tests.\Logitech is priced reasonably and offers alot to the common person such as the decoding and the fancy control unit. You can hook it up in place of a home theater system and be fine. The speakers have decent lows and mids but not very good highs.Klipsch on the other hand is priced conciderably higher, does not offer a remote controll, nor can it be used in lieu of a home theater system *no decoding*. The bass on the system is by far superior to Logitech's, the mid range is a little bit clearer, and the highers are unparalleled *in comparasion to Logitech*.Logitech is a computer company that focuses on general computer components such as key boards and other such items. Klipsch is solely a speaker company, as least to my knowledge, and also focuses on home theater systems.Extra information: The bass on the klipsch is approximately twice as loud at Logitech's. There is pretty much no high range on logitech since they do not incorporate tweeters into their speakers. Klipsch has more static noise than Logitech. Klipsch speakers are also a little bigger and in my opinion looks nicer. Logitech is better for a home entertainment system.There are good things and bad things about both, although for me I will chose Klipsch over Logitech any day.

These speakers are great. Sound great. Look great. For what I paid for this 2.1 speakers system, it totally rocks.The only slight issue I found so far is while watching some DVD's through my computer. Some of the low end/mid frequencies gave the speakers a bit of a crackle at higher volumes. So if you are going to be watching a ton of DVD's on your PC these maybe aren't the speakers for you.But if you are going to do general listening to music and playing video games and are a bit price sensative/budget oriented, well, these are great speakers for you. I'd buy them everyday and twice on Sunday!

I love these speakers. I am a big home theater buff and I am very pleased with the quality of the system... especially for the money... Out of the box, it definitively did NOT have the proper setting but once I adjusted all speaker levels and balance, it sounded great... It still does now. Combined with a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi sound card, playing F.E.A.R. (or any other games for that matter) with this system is really the icing on the cake. I definitively recommend this system.

You could buy more expensive speakers and get louder music but do you need to blow your eardrums, if you can't turn the volume past half way with out having to turn it down there is no point. I found these speakers and they are excellent. I had to buy a new sound card so that my laptop would work with these speakers. After getting that i turned them on and they worked like a charm. The subwoofer is loud and the speaker cables are long enough to get some great surround sound. The speakers were easy to set up and are easy to use. I think that these are great speakers and at a great price for only $50.00!!!

I am in speaker heaven. The sound quality blows away other speakers 2x the price. The wireless rear speakers are beautiful - they sacrifice no audio quality and they were easy to hang and look great. To get the best sound, you definitely want to set up the speakers in a square and keep them all at the same height - when you get them in a square the sound is resonating and it's just perfect. I'm hearing detail in my music that I've never heard before. And when I play a movie it's theatre-quality. Highly recommended.

The X-530 is well worth the money!! Got home and hooked it up to my computer to play Flight Sim 2004. The rumble of the tires down the runway from the sub-woofer is amazing! Only the front two speakers and subbie work on my computer, because at the moment I have a two channel sound card. So, I used the included adapter and hooked it up to my X-Box. Played Halo online with all five speakers and the subbie blasting. A totally different experience! Can't wait to get a new sound card to try out my flight sim with all five speakers and subbie going!!!!!!!!! Great buy for the money.

This is the best sound system I have ever heard. It beats myZ 680 which I accidently destroyed by a water spill. The wooferis much larger. When I saw a lot of plastic where there was metalI was concerned that the sound would not be as good. Butit is better. I would recommend this to anyone looking for thetype of surround sound found in the theaters. During games itwill shake your seat bottom and the floor and maybe even the neighbors floorif they live too close.

I ordered this October 22 2:00 am west coast and got shipped that night. Very fast considering I got free shipping that was expected to be delivered 5 to 9 days. I recieved it October 28. I was one of the lucky ones (I guess) to order it when it was $279 with free shipping. I actually submitted a request for $285 few days earlier. That's for amazon.As for the speakers... just unbelievably awesome. I've never really had good speakers and can never really tell the difference between of how good and bad speakers sound. But these speakers sound very clean and the bass is just perfect(adjustable to your liking of course) which I can honestly now say these sound way better than your typical speakers. It's as if I'm in the movie theatre. The bass isn't just the usually bass thump, but an enjoyable thump! I'm not a bass person cause I usually get headaches from it, but listening to these speakers and playing movies made me enjoy the sound cause it was natural sounding. The louder I put the volume, the better it gets. There is just no words I can say that can do justice to these speakers. You have to hear it to believe it. The controller is awesome looking and easy to use (automatically detects the type of source e.g. movie, cd, video game). The subwoofer box is pretty big so you gotta have space for it. And to me, they look pretty good too.I am primarily using this for entertaiment use only(movies and video games) so you know these speakers must be good. Those who think $300 is worth great computer speakers, you will not be dissapointed. The sound card should be able to plug in separate front, rear, and center/subwoofer inputs. And to think, I actually thought about buying a mini system that cost the same price. One thing though, if your system is on the older side, it might be wise to upgrade because these sound a lot better with an optical fiber cable than the basic rca cable with a Y cable adapter. Coax cable I heard is pretty good too( but not the same level as the optical). My primary source is my xbox, so I had to buy an adapter for my xbox to allow optical, as well as an optical fiber cable. All worth it.

I bought this system to replace an aging stereo system that was the life support system for my PC. I read a lot of reviews before I took a chance and ordered the Z-5500. I also ordered the Monster THX certified optical cable to use with the speaker system.I was blown away when I heard this thing for the first time. I watched Pearl Harbor this past weekend in DTS and was hearing things in the movie I'd never heard before. Planes coming up from behind and roaring overhead. Bullets snapping by and impacting behind me. When the Arizona blew up, it seemed to start out centered then I was surrounded by a wall of sound.Music is clear and full with this system. The bass is powerful and I had to turn it down because it was a little to powerful.All in all the Z-5500 was worth every penny. I'd get another one without a second thought.One of the things I was very pleased with was the fact the the speaker connections use standard speaker wire, so you can go out and buy Monster cables for it if you want.It give this system 10 stars if I could. Can you say WOW???

I had the Item shipped to my friend via Super Saver shipping. Got there in good condition and ahead of time to boot!!!Opened it up, connected it, and plugged in my MP3 portable into the side of the control unit for 3.5mm plugs. It sucked big!!!! Absolutely no bang at all, while static and strained notes ruled when the volume knob was twisted to the high power levels.Connected the THX optical cable which I also got bought, and inserted a good music disc in the DVD player. WWHOOOAAAAAHHHH!!!!!. Made the mistake of putting the volume to high before starting and my neighbors have yet to forgive me!!!! Suddenly, everything came to life. My music sounded just like at any good HiFi shop, and playing movies in DTS mode, plomps me right in the middle of the best house seats in a THX hall!!!!!!!I could hear notes and sounds which on my old system, never showed up. Playing some classical inspired Audiophile discs played through a Marantz CD player brought out the missing sounds and minor 'mistakes' made by the artistes clear as ice. Watching Star Wars 2 on the DVD made me turn around and wonder whether the skies were pouring during the Kamino scene, and had me dodging during the battle scene of Droids versus Clones.However, not everything is perfect just yet.The small problems with the unit which caused me to feel less than 200% satisfied, include, hard wired speaker cables, cheapest of the cheap remote control design, slightly uneven Subwoofer rubber legs (stubs), and the aforementioned problem with my MP3 portable (which can be rectified with a 3rd party item).All I can say is if you can live with the small flaws, Buy One NOW!!! You won't regret buying it for the quality of the sound. And if you do, please use a cotton stick - Ear cleaner to decongest your auditory cannals !!!EC Ong.

These are probably the best speakers your gonna get for you money. I sadly payed double for these. The speakers have excellent soun and the sub sounds amazing. The sub also has its own bass volume control. These speakers are very loud and can make any song sound good.A word of warning though, if you don't have a 3 channel sound card all the speakers wont work, a three channel would be a green sound hole, a orange sound hole, and a black sound hole. If you just have a one channel only the sub, and two speakers are gonna work.If you have all that then these speakers are a must buy.

gets loud, has lots of power, but the sound quality is just not where i think it could be. its a little harsh sounding. its still a decent system and sound isnt too bad. i have just heard smoother, not as harsh, better sounding stereo systems. if it just had a little better sound quality i would love it. however, it does seem to get a little better as time passes.

This speaker system is designed to handle the audio specturm with high degree of professionalism. The handling of base is very excellent but guys unless u have a dolby 5.1 device or a adapter you wouldnt need all the speakers given. 3 speakers will simply sleep in the box. other than that i highly recommand this piece.---Update-- I bought a 5.1 Dolby USB adapter to match this device's input requirement. Later I found another catch that the DVD player software which comes along with our laptop can only give a stereo output [Due to some license regards with Dolby systems]so even with this interface only 3 of the 6 speakers are producing sound and to make them [all 6] give 5.1 Dolby sound one needs to upgrade their DVD software. WinDVD 5 is my Sony Vaio's default DVD player software and i have orderd for its upgrade which costs some $12+shipping. So finaly to utilise this device to its full at a COMPUTER one needs to have1.USB - 5.1 Dolby adapter device2.DVD software that reproduces 5.1 Dolby [upgrade]3 Most importantly Movie DVD with 5.1 Dolby sound track or a Player software that can simulate 5.1 dolby from ordinary stereo recordings.The above will add a price tag $20+$15+Shipping minimum but they are worth the Music effect this device is capable of.Another Update:If you cant affort extra USB interface and a software, just use a "Y" male to female 3.5mm stereo adaptor to the green and black male pin and feed 4 speakers and the woofer [Not the center "two-eyed" speaker, its not going to make a difference for this idea]. Believe me by placing alike channel speakers [say "Left"] on your left side of your room/bed and the another channel ["right"] on the right side with the woofer facing you. you would get a good stereo phonic sound reproduction. let the source be a mp3 player or a walkman or your laptop or your movie player.I bet, you will remember/thank me every time you enjoy the stereo phonic effect. Is the Dolby corporation reading this :P

For budget PC speakers these rock. For most normal Human Beings this PC speaker set should suffice. Clear Sound, excellent Bass. However for DVD Players and XBOX you need to buy an adapter which Logitech claims "will convert it to 5.1". If you have a look at the instrument and its two Stereo RCA inputs you will realise the converter is Crapware that just gives you the same sound from Front and Rear speakers. Don't even dream of hooking it up to your DVD player for a surround sound expereience. Also the US version only accepts 110 Volts and not the 220 Volts Indian/British standard.

I bought these speakers along with the Kensington iPod dock (Model #33164) for my wife for Christmas. There were several iPod speaker systems for sale this year but most were priced too high or had flimsy speakers with poor sound. By buying the dock and these speakers separately I ended up with better overall quality (plus the dock comes with a remote) for less money. These speakers have excellent clarity and FANTASTIC bass. I would have gotten Logitech's X-530 set, which has 5 speakers + sub rather than the X-230's 2.1, but I just had nowhere to put all the extra speakers. These speakers are a fantastic value.

I was very pleased with the sound range and quality of the Logitech V20 Speakers. They are very well made and function perfectly, giving surprisingly high quality performance for a USB-type speaker set up. A perfect escape from the ridiculous built-in speaker that comes with most laptops.They're compact, sharp-looking and easy to connect.

I got these speakers a few weeks ago. The sound that comes off of them is worth more then they cost. Usually with speakers you get what you pay for, and make no mistake the sound isnt comparable to a $500 set of 5.1 speakers but it is comparable to a $250 pair of speakers so these are a great value. Plugged them into my new X-fi soundcard and the sound was 100x better than my old 2.1 speakers with a SB Live! 5.1 card. I would highly recomend these speakers to someone on a budget who won't settle for budget-sound.

The few complaining here about having to buy an audio card in order to get them to sound properly are just plain stupid, It don't matter what brand or what range the speakers are, onboard/integrated audio sucks PERIOD and will never get even fair sound out of it. How dumb to buy a 5.1 speakers and use them on 2.1 onboard audio.I have a SB Audigy 2 XS Gamer, IMO there great for the price.
