Logitech V10 USB Notebook Speakers (970194-0403)I purchased the speakers for my wife who travels extensively and meets with small and medium sized groups, i.e., from 10 to 50 professionals. She loves the speakers since they are very compact and don't use up unnecessary space in the travel bag and have plenty of sound volume and clarity for the room.Others in the organization asked her to purchase more for them to also use with their laptop presentations. They are a bargain at their price on Amazon. They perfectly fit the bill for travel and professional presentations using PowerPoint. For this use I highly recommend them. Roger Anderson, San Jose, CA

Logitech 970223-0403 X-540 5.1 Speaker System (Black)I bought this and was very surprised of the big sound bass and clarity this sound system has, it's cheap but don't hold that against this very good sound system it is Logitec and they take pride in what they make.

Bought those for portability and because my tablet computer speakers are terrible. Good sound quality, volume control with separate +/- buttons not the best design compared to a more efficient dial-style. Generally, my experience with Logitec products is positive. If you're looking for hi-fi in small package, these are not it. Overall good enough sound quality for the price. Amazon price (I shopped around) and delivery time were excellent.

The only complaints are that you can't have true 5.1 surround sound if you are using the standard A/V (red/white) connectors and that the sub is close but not exactly where you'd really want it. Both are very ignorable... except when something is happening on one of the right or left rear speakers. It'll come from both of them. Quite annoying, at least for me.I've heard some people complain that the cables are too short and that there are cables. Umm... you do realize these were made for a pc, not a tv/dvd. You could always get extensions, although the quality will probably suck (quieter/static/delay). Secondly who wants to watch a movie and find the batteries run out in the middle of it.

We've owned it for about 1 month. Excellent quality sound system. However, the sub woofer was much larger than we expected which caused a spacing issue in the small room we have. We highly recommend this product to our friends and family.

The speakers are very good. They can get very loud but still provide great sound quality. The sub is huge and provides good bass. The only drawback is that the wires that come with the system are not that long. If you have a decent size room you will probably need to by longer wire. But that is easy cause it works with any standard speaker wire and the quality is just as good.

After owning the Logitech 680 speakers, I was certain I would never purchase Logitech speakers again; the hiss was awful. On a limited budget, I purchased some Bose computer speakers but was underwhelmed by their power and lack of surround sound. After pouring over mounds of reviews, I decided to give this set a try. I mainly use my speakers to play games (MMORPG, FPS) and listen to music. WOW, these speakers are great. I can't say enough great things about them. I would recommend them to anyone needing computer speakers for games and music.

The setup was easy. These speakers sound excellent with my Creative Extreme Gamer Soundcard. The sound is crisp, clean, and clear. My office is small so the speaker wire length was no problem. These are a great improvement over my old 2.1 speakers and I am glad I purchased them. I just wish I would have went wireless for the rear speakers, but maybe later. I am considering getting a set for my TV.

Very good sound and quality for the value. Although larger than anticipated, the sound quality that comes out of these speakers is very good. Good bass and treble and I like how the controls are on the front. For someone looking for a comparable sound to a 2.1 system but does not want the sub-woofer..I would recommend these speakers.

I bought these speakers a few months ago and had no trouble whatsoever. The sounds is great, and I like this set very much. However, the speaker will go into standby randomly, even if there is sounds running through any of the connections(optical, coax, direct). There is a forum [...]where many customers talk about this problem. So far I have no found out what the problem is exactly.

I was looking for an inexpensive replacement for my Logitech Z340 speakers(an excellent 3 piece speaker set, but that's another review) which gave up the ghost after about 5 years. I didn't want to spend more than about $25 because I don't listen to that much music on my home computer system. I did want something with more sound than just a couple of desktop speakers; I wanted a sub-woofer as well.After reading the reviews, I selected the R-20 speaker set. Although the reviews were mixed, I figured for less than $20, I'd take a chance.The short answer is, good speakers for the money.While they don't have the clarity and depth of the Z340 system they replaced, they are more than adequate for basic desktop use and occasional listening to music.At first, the tweeter-midrange speakers sounded a bit tinny and were missing the midrange that I had come to expect from a decent set of speakers. The sub-woofer (a very small and light unit for a sub) was also muddy and sounded like it was over powering the smaller speakers. As it turned out, I was over-driving the speakers, trying to play them louder than they were designed to be played.Once I turned the volume down a bit, they sounded much better. I subsequently balanced the frequency bands with the graphic equalizer in Windows Media Player and brought out the missing midrange frequency. Much better.Placement is also important with these speakers. They are not made for whole-room-sound. They are made for the immediate computer area, not 5 or more feet away. Place the subwoofer on the floor near your feet, under a desk if you have one. The small (and delicate feeling, I might add) desktop speakers should go to the immediate left and right of your monitor, right in front of you. Put them anywhere further away and you will not get the best sound from these speakers.In summary, these speakers are not designed to be played at high volume. A little adjustment is required to bring out the midranges and balance the high and low frequency. Easy to do; it's not rocket science. They have a nice balance of sound once they are setup correctly. You will get very good sound for very little money.

I didn't have huge expectations for these speakers - I realize that they were at the entry-level price point - but these are horrible! I have to turn the volume up on the computer, itunes, and the speakers in order to hear anything. I liked the fact that they had an input on the speaker and that you could turn them off without unplugging them. I wish they were better.

Best purchase i've ever made. Speakers are really easy to set up. Sounds amazing. Comes with a remote that lets you adjust the center or surround sound. Best part about it is the Subwoofer. HUGE! Bass just hums! Amazon has the best price on these. I saw them at frys for 349.99! Buy it on Amazon now!

The outside speakers had longer cables, the center speaker can hang on your screen, the remote is cool, and the sound is magnificent. It sounds like I am in a recording studio. Recommend this to everyone.

We like the fact that these speakers do not need an external power supply and they are compact so they fit nicely on our already crowded desk. They are quite good for their size and price and provide good sound for music and movie watching on our laptop.

First of all, I would say I was really impressed by these speakers. They are definately super performers for this kind of use (designed for laptop, no need for "real" power supply) with such a low cost. I have seen so many reviewers trying compare this speakers with other "powered" ones or even the ones comes with "subwoofer". It's not fair and even though these speakers don't have enough "low range", it does not mean they are not great speakers. Sometimes we expect too much...As I mentioned, I do believe these speakers do not have enough low range. However the hi and mid range really sound excellent! If you listen to a lot of classic music, and don't care about the low and "subwoofer" effect, you will enjoy them for sure.Highly recommend this Logitech product!

The 5.1 surround sound package is a great addition to any pc. The sound is terrific..It took no longer than 15 minutes to unpack and install the speakers. For the money they sound and look great.

These USB-powered speakers showed up right away on my MacBook. They sound great, but the stand design makes them move around the desk when played loud. I compared these with the V10 notebook speakers, and decided that to keep the V10 speakers, because they are easier to travel with. If you plan to stay in one place, and don't mind moving these back or taping them down, these are nice speakers.

I didn't expect these speakers to be that great, but once i put them in my 4 bedroom apt, it filled the whole place with music. Great speakers and I am loving the great sound quality they have, no static at all!

Logitech is a proven product, I buy most of their products, the logitech Z-55oo is a awsome groung shaking system, better than most of my friends home stearios, its a gamers dream for sure.

For the money you can not beat this system. Sure you can get a klipsch set of speakers that will cost you 5 times what this system will cost. For purists this might not be for you. This system at half of it's full volume would satisfy most. I am very happy with it. I read all the reviews on this product before I bought it. I may buy another one.

The sound is definitely better than the built in speakers that are on my laptop. I use it around the house or when I travel when I listen to music.It is a bit heavy to carry around if you are in school.

Just to be clear, this is for USB only, not for an analog 1/8" plug. So you won't be able to use this with an MP3 player since this the sound source and power comes from USB.I'm actually using it with a desktop since it has a small footprint and it's great for a powered setup with decent sound that doesn't require additional power cables.

I'm on a Macbook and I am quite surprised how good these sound being just connected to a USB port. Very good bass and soundfield. I think these are a great portable solution and great for watching movies on the macbook as the volume on the laptop is notoriously low.

I was disappointed in the speakers because I specifically purchased them in order to listen to movies, presentations, etc. in our conversion van since my laptop doesn't have very good speakers. Unfortunately, these didn't cut it in a van with the noise from the road, heater, etc.

These speakers aren't your typical home theater system. I purchased it for my PC but realized it had more potential than that. So I hooked it up to my home theater and it sounded just as good as my home theater system. Funny thing is...bass was strong and deep when placed with PC but did not display the same when placed with the home theater. It may be a location thing. (Let me know if you know) Bottom line is that these speakers probably won't satisfy the individual who owns a 1k+ home theater system, but it sure beats most low-end systems you usually find at places like walmart, target, etc... (which may cost twice as much in many cases)On a final note...if you're not into setting up a home theater system, these speakers are perfect for you. Very easy to setup and control. Note...there are two versions, one has satellites with speaker wires attached and one without. I got the one without and it's a plus because then I can use higher-end and or longer wires to fit my needs.

These speakers are decent enough for laptops that do not generate enough volume through their internal speakers IF you are watching tv shows streamed online or for DVDs. However, I would recommend something more expensive if your laptop is your primary music system.The sound does not handle bass at all well and that is a natural result of having no sub-woofer.

awesome product. the bass unit is much bigger and more powerful than I expected. I took my time and still had this up and running in less than 30 minutes. I bought this as a refurbished product, and there is no way to show it. looks and performs brand new !! Also shipping was in less time than expected.

This is a great system. Its loud (and clear too), has good base, the speakers are flexible, the wired volume switch is unexpectidly useful, and the "matrix" mode is a decent substitute if you only have 1 channel audio (i.e. plugging it into a laptop).I used this system for my dorm room and it was awesome. It would probably work well in an office or bedroom. I don't think I would get it for a home theater.

The overall sound of these speakers is full and well-balanced. The subwoofer is a little too base heavy for me sometimes and even at its lowest setting it packs a punch (most listeners will probably like this). My only real gripe is lack of bass adjustment on the speakers--otherwise these are good sounding and fair-priced speakers. They have a headphone jack near the volume control, which is a plus. And they are pretty nice looking too.As another reviewer stated, watch out for these if you have them shipped. My speakers were stored for a year (a family member's 2006 Christmas gift that was passed on to me new in the box). When I opened them, something was rattling around inside the subwoofer. I Googled the issue. An Amazon reviewer and a New Egg Reviewer reported the same issue. It was the port tube--the tube that connects the hole of the woofer and makes the "boom" for your music's bass. It seems to be an exception and not the norm. Both reviewers said they would be hard to fix. Not so for me. I was able to--after 3 or 4 attempts--tilt the sub in order to allow the tube to fall towards the bass port hole in the woofer. It worked. I then repositioned it firmly (no glue). I used a flashlight to do this and it was clear upon inspection that Logitech did not use enough glue to keep the port in place. Despite this issue, I am satisfied with the speakers and recommend them to others.

I bought this thinking 505 watts...hot damn right? No, I also owned a Z-2300 (200 watts) and that is almost as loud as something that has 253% more watts. When I say almost I mean if a scale is 1-10, 10 being the Z-5500 then the Z-2300 must be a 9. It cost 200 dollars more than its predecessor yet an insignificant increase...I'm ticked off so bad right now. The plus side to this a remote control, which looks like cheap plastic crap that probably the battery cost more than the remote itself.P.S. Yes I enabled 5.1 surround on vista and its still not making my ears bleed like I wish it would.

this system is absolutely amazing. each speaker has a removable cover for a new look. it has optical, coax, and either (one) 5.1 input, or (three) individual inputs in the back. also has an output for headphone, and an input for mp3 use on the side. easy to use buttons, nice blue lcd screen. this thing goes so loud w/ bass that IT SHAKES THE ALUMINUM SIDING ON MY HOUSE FROM INSIDE MY BASEMENT!!!!!!! it's unbelievable! for less than $200 you cant go wrong and you won't be disappointed. also the speakers just have simple wire, so you can replace the speaker wire to move and stretch the speakers and mount them where ever you want.

I was so hesitant because one the price was a little steep and convicing my wife took some time. This was an upgrade for me from z5300e, I'm currently using the SB Extreme Gamer, sound card.Pros:The sound is amazing, twice as nice as my z5300e.Remote control, actually comes in handy since I watch movies from bed.Price, was a con at first for me but compared to other systems, it's well worth it's value.My wife always thinks someone else is in the house us when I play games/movies.Cons:The sound console that sits on your desk is rather large, as large as the satellite speakers.I have to recaulk my windows and reframe pictures because the bass is off the chizart.I wish I had bought this 6 months ago.My wife always thinks someone else is in the house when I play games/movies.

If you buy a Logitech product you had better hope it does not break. Mine failed after the warranty ran out. Only then did I discover that there are no repair options and no parts are sold. The only option is the trash can no matter which of the many parts breaks. I tried talking to Logitech but to no avail. They would sell me a replacement unit for 50% off their website list price which is about the same as Amazon pricing. I recommend doing business with a better manufacturer

After hearing so much about this speaker system I finally decided to take the plunge and get them to complete my new computer build. All I can say is wow! Even with on board sound these sound amazing and are very powerful. I am very pleased with my purchase!

I like the sound quality for something so inexpensive, mostly needed something to make the computer loud enough to hear plus have the surround sound along with it.The only setback is the control for the speakers (volume, bass, matrix?) is connected by a wire which makes it kind of annoying to increase and decrease volume.

For the money, there is just no better purchase. I mounted all the speakers to the wall using the easy swivel bases they come attached too. The sub is huge with sound to match but for the most part it has remained skillfully hidden. I removed the center speaker because I ended up listening to more music on the stereo than TV which made it unnecessary. The sound is great at low volumes (yes the sub plays well at low volumes) and the bass is like a club at high volumes. I have had the stereo since it first came out some years back and it is very durable. Surviving in my college dorm room and multiple moves I am surprised not a piece of it is broken. I assure you when you get the stereo you will not be disappointed.

I was looking for some affordable desktop speakers with good quality sound. They work well if I want to play my music quietly or louder (but I haven't tried turning the volume all the way up) and I like that I can easily plug my headphones into the speakers if I want to listen by myself. These are good for enjoying the sound in a room but not for blasting music through the halls. Overall, it was a great purchase for the price.

Logitech X-540 5.1 Speaker SystemThis is the second time that I'll be sending the X-540 speakers back. The first time, parts were clearly rattling around in the subwoofer. I suspect that the damage occured in transit as the packaging wasn't what you would call robust. The books that Amazon ships are much better protected.Anyhow, I shipped that set back and requested a replacement set which just arrived. With the same damage to the subwoofer! That indicates to me that the build quality of the subwoofer could be a lot more robust even with the sparse packaging.I'll shop for a different product, probably from a box store as Amazon haven't mastered shipping these things!
