The system had a great mix of sound quality and price value. My small complaint is that with certain applications and movies I was not able to get the full surround effect which was slightly dissappointing. However, overall an above average set of computer speakers.

I am not a picky guy when it comes to audio, but these speakers are terrible. I boxed mine up & took them back to the store. The sound is fuzzy and static. They sound like they've been washed in a dishwasher. Completely unuseable! How on Earth they got such good reviews from others I don't understand. Avoid this junk product.

I bought these for use with a Mac Mini, and paid about $29.00 for them. They were probably an "open box" or returned item, but arrived in perfect condition and suit my needs 100% -Thanks, Amazon!

Like the product fine! Looked at it on Amazon for over a year, hoping to get a better price! Finally decided to purchase. THE FOLLOWING DAY Amazon reduced the price substantially. I requested the new purchase price, got a terse, "sorry, but no" response. Kept the product...but Amazon lost a buying customer!

Great speaker system. I use them in my dorm room and ive already been yelled at 8 times about how loud the bass is. Don't wait your time on a new one buy used. Great system, recommend it to anyone.

I was probably just unlucky, but these did not work initially when I received them. After shaking them and whacking them several times, they began functioning and have worked fine ever since (about 6 months). I decided not to send them back for replacement due to the hassle. However, I'm obviously concerned they will fail again.Other than the lack of reliability, I have no complaints. The quality is fine. They create plenty of sound for computer speakers, look nice, and don't take up too much space.

The logitech z-5500 speakers are without a doubt amazing speakers, especially for the price. I have another sound system with a yamaha audio/video receiver and expensive JBL speakers attached to it. Both that system and this logitech system is 500 watts. Both provide exceptional quality audio. The difference is that the Logitech system is nearly a third of the price of my other system. That being said, he is why i love it:-Incredible bass, powerful, heavy, and deep. No distortion-For such small satellite speakers, they produce excellent high and mid ranges with only one speaker. And i mean INCREDIBLE.-The device to plug in things is easy to use and allows for the necessary customization of audio levels, speaker levels, etc.I am an audiophile, and i hate having distortion of any kind in my sound. These speakers provide great sound, whether its for video games, music, or watching movies. If i had to come up with any drawback, it would be that the bass has to be more than 2 feet from any electronic device because of the magnet inside. It could use more shielding so it did not have this requirement. But really...just buy these speakers.

Ive had these speakers for over a week now and still can not believe the sound I get from them. I have my xbox 360 hooked into the optical-in on my computer as a type of receiver for it and my computer plugged into the optical-in on the monitor. Having the full digital surround sound from the xbox is amazing, I feel like I am actually there in the game. I also went ahead and used the coaxial for my Fios TV box that also sounds great. I have read reviews where people said that music does not really sound that great but I think it sounds great. Movies also sound great when you have these babies turned up. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who wants to make their bedroom into a small home theater.

Hands down, these speakers rock. Crystal clear highs, deep lows, and you can "feel" the sound coming out of the perfectly sized satellites. I can hear the bass from outside my house if I so choose as well. Games, DVD's, Music...they all sound terrific!NOTE: I have had this set for a year now and they were hooked up to an Audigy 2 ZS sound card. While using that card I thought things sounded great! UNTIL!!!....This week for my birthday I bought an X-Fi Fatality Pro PCI-E sound card. I now have them hooked up through an optical cable and I can honestly say I was only getting HALF the clarity and performance while hooked into the Audigy 2 zs. EVERYTHING sounds literally 10 times better than before, I can't believe the difference! I knew I would get a small bump in clarity and such but am seriously blown away by how much better they sound with this X-fi card.

Love these speakers! The wires are a little short, so expect to spend about $15 more at Radio Shack buying RCA wire extensions - anyone can figure out how to add these onto the wires.Since these speakers plug directly into your computer, MAKE SURE that you have a "sound card" with 3 outs (generally "Speak 1", "Speak 2", and "sub" or "center" or "Speak 3"). Without this, you can either:1) buy a 3-to-1 3.5mm adapter and plug all the wires into your 1 output - this will make all speakers output the same sound, thoughor2) buy a USB external 5.1 sound card - works very nicelyor3) buy a sound card for your desktop - if you know what this means, I don't need to explain. But if you are not a computer person, chose 2) preferably, or 1).Sound is very clear, though, no problems at all. Base is very loud, and travels FAR, especially in dorm rooms :) I actually leave my base all the way down, and I am one of "those" people that just love lots of base.

These are ideal desktop speakers, the best set I've owned in 15 years. Trim and neat, they will travel well with my laptop. I'm very pleased. There is no balance knob, however, as my one speaker is a bit more powerful than the other. I now have 3 Logitech products and all perform well and at a highly affordable price.

I bought these about a year ago and really loved the sound. A few weeks ago they stopped working - which seems to be common for most brands and models of 5.1 computer speakers. I use my computer for everything (have a quadcore with a 40' monitor and blue-ray dvd and I use napster and get my news and talk radio streaming)However after talking to a very friendly customer service rep at Logitech I simply sent my controller back and with in about a week they sent me an entirely brand new system. I expected to only get a new controller or something. I applaud Logitech on that amazing customer service when in this crappy economy companies seem to be cutting back on everything starting with returns!

These speakers sounded and worked great for the first three months, until the fuse blew in the sub. I tried to replace the fuse with the specified replacement part and it just kept blowing fuses. I ended up having to return it to Amazon. If you do a google on Z5500 + fuses, you'll see this model is prone to blowing fuses, I didn't know about this because I only read the Amazon reviews.

I bought Logitech 970155-0403 about a month ago. It was not a new one but I thought it at least works. But, I was wrong. It does not work. I have tried with three different computers but I don't think it is computer problem but the item which I bought from Amazon. I feel like I am a jerk. I paied for nothing but a garbage. I hope that this kind of thing never happen again in amazon. I have been buying many items from amazon. Everything was good until now. I feel very bad... this time.

This sound system has brought my computer to life. Games, movies, youtube music videos, I do it all on my computer now and the experience is amazing. The built-in feature is also a great bonus. The price isn't cheap, but you are really getting the bang for your buck.

For $[...] these speakers ROCK! I am driving them with a Creative X-fi sound card, and they are CRYSTAL clear and sharp sounding. The Bass is not muddy and for such a small Sub box, it really kicks out. They replaced an 8 year old set of Creative speakers (they died loud "SNAP" from the sub box) that I paid $[...] for back then. These little babies actually sound better. Much clearer and cleaner sounding. I hardly left my computer room as it was, not it will be even harder to leave.BTW - the DVD Audio of Automatic For the People by REM sounds awesome on these. Gotta love hearing the backup vocals BEHIND you.

I like a lot of bass and clear sound and I hate most "desktop" or "computer" speakers. I did quite a bit of research before I bought these and so far, they are great! I had some amazing speakers before these and they went out on me, so I was not sure if these would be up to my standards. I think they sound great and do an amazing job. Really the only small conflict is just that the remote has to be fairly close or pointed directly at the unit to work. Other than this, I think they are fantastic! I will follow up with another post if something comes up.

WOW! I mean like WOW. I've been playing all my CD's over on my PC. It's like I'm hearing them for the first time. Awesome clarity and seperation. Whats scary is I hear the optical hook up available makes this sound like two tin cans with a string streached between them. Gotta buy a new sound card.

After a few weeks of jiggling wires I decided to replace my desktop speakers.Researching desktop speakers turned out to be simple. Many experts consider the Logitech X-140 to be the best product under $100.I have had the speakers for two months, and have been very happy with both the sound and the size.They are excellent speakers at a bargain price.

This is an excellent high power product.I use the system in a virtual sound suite and it rocks. I can simulate any environment providing I have a good source recording.The remote control makes for easy adjustments.

I debated for a short while over whether I should get this system and finally decided just to take the plunge.. and to get right to the point, I'm immensely happy with the purchase. Sounds fantastic in Pro Logic mode for music, or 6-channel direct for gaming.. pretty much can't go wrong with these. If you're on the fence about these.. just buy 'em. You won't be disappointed.

I have now had my Logitech X-140 speakers for two weeks and I love them. I use them to listen to radio and music and they fulfill my needs. The highs are good, and the lows are great for the price. If you want to do some serious gaming or listening to music at high levels then you may want to pass on these. If you want to listen to music, radio, or even game with good output then you should consider these. These are not professional speakers, but for the price I find them to be excellent for my needs- and similar needs.

Pros: Digital Dolby, DTS, THX certified, sounds great on HBO HD and all the channels that support Digital Dolby, i'm using an optical cable, with the cox box & PS3 as well as the Power Mac G5, aux for the iPodCons: not any really wish the cable for the speakers were longer

I travel quite a bit and I needed something easy to carry around to add a little oomph to my laptop. You can only listen to laptop speakers for so long! I work for the railroad, so I have limited space in my grip. These speakers fill the bill--nice case, not too large, and in the hotel room, they sound pretty good. They do lack considerably on the bass end of things and they are not that powerful. I had originally been using Bose Companion II speakers, which are not as easy to tote around, but they sound great and have great bass as well, but let's be fair, Bose CII are bigger speakers and have their own power supply, and they are considerably heavier. I gave those to my son and purchased these. For the frequent traveler, these USB powered speakers do the job, just don't expect audiophile quality. They do seem to sound better run through Winamp as opposed to other Windows based players as the sound can be "fine tuned" through various plug-ins offered by Winamp. Overall, for what they are--portable, small speakers--they do the job, just don't crank the volume up too much or you will certainly get distortion.

Bought these speakers quite a while ago. The reviews seemed to speak very highly of this product but to say the least what I received was a very poor quality, weak base, and rear speakers that made little to no difference. Only if your ear is right next to the rear speakers can you hear them.The speakers have a great look, can be mounted on the wall and have adequate cables for placement but I do not buy speakers for looks alone or I would just print out the picture and tape it to my wall to look at.The wired remote is fine but the cable is a bit short. Being that the sub is underpowered this is not really a problem unless you have to place the sub further away because you don't have the room.Needless to say I have gone back to my previous Altec Lansing speakers I bought about 6 years ago.Closing Summary: If you like speakers that look great but offer nothing in terms of sound quality then these speakers are for you.

I bought these speakers mainly to use with my Comcast Cable service over optical and DVD player using co-ax. The quality of the sound is excellent and im pretty happy with them. Be aware of one issue though - the control unit is prone to turning itself off during TV broadcasts. The unit then resets itself and you have to turn them back on again. This has happened on average once every 2-3 hours of watching.Checking the Logitech forums reveals this is a common problem with these speakers. Logitech claims they don't support cable TV with 5.1 streams on this model. As a result I've knocked one star off.

The soound is clear, crispy and just plain amazing. I have many movies on my pc which only have 2 channel audio. With this set, i am able to have a surround sound 5.1 effect , just one push of the button "Matrix mode".Movies: 9/10Music: 10/10 just got blasted awayGames: N/AI am really happy with this purchase and would recommend for everyone who still considering. Great bang for the buck.Do not confuse this with X530, which much more worse than this. It broke after 1 day i bought.

Logitech has always been one of my favorite brands for computer accessories, so when I began shopping for a sound system for my PC, it seemed like a great brand to check out. Of course the reviews for this product are great, which is the reason I bought it! I was debating between this and other Logitech systems, and I'm glad I chose this one. Amazon has a great price on it, unlike the $400 retail price which may be a tad high for what you get. But for under $300 this system is great.At the moment this system is set up in my game room, and let me say that it gets plenty loud and has enough bass to fill the whole room (20 x 28 with a 14 foot ceiling). The sound from a stereo source such as my Macbook is a little lacking. But after I connected it to my DVD player through the coaxial digital input (the z-5500 has both coaxial and optical digital inputs) it sounded almost perfect. Listening to Steve Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle" album is proving very enjoyable. The bass at 1/4 volume is perfect, and performs well when turned up. The subwoofer performed well when I fed it some techno and turned it all the way up. The windows in my house were definitely slightly disturbed.The satellite speakers perform very nicely and look spiffy with or without the cloth grills. I am still playing with them to get the best stereo image. The system comes with 3 15' foot speaker wires, and 2 25' ones for the rear speakers. These are a little short for my game room, but should be more than sufficient for my office. I know they will definitely be loud enough in my office which is tiny compared to the game room.The remote is fine and dandy, as is the control panel. The little blue LED looks nifty at night and the knob feels very cool when you adjust the volume.If you want a great system for your computer or TV, this is a great choice, and Amazon has a great price. If you want a super state of the art system, look elsewhere, but this system performs very well for the price Amazon has it at.

I'm a major audiophile, so i like perfection in music and movie playback. That said, i understood what i was buying before i bought it. This set is about as good as you will get for around $250 bucks, however theres no comparison to a bose setup, as some others have stated in past reviews. I'm just being realistic. ok, so set up through an xbox 360, games sound amazing and full (especially shooters with loud gunfire!), but music through the xbox 360, dvd players and cd players could sound better (lack of mids and the highs peak is cut a bit short, nothing horrible however). HD format movies and Bluray sound incredible in comparison to regular cd playback which leads me to believe that this set is truly designed to shine with anything that is in Dolby Digital. Dont even consider going without digital cables. Optical in my opinion is super clear, and the diference in the sound is like black and white. With a really good sound card these things are nice for a computer setup. Buy new thicker gauge speaker wire if you want to get the best out of any surround sound setup you ever buy. I.M.O., the wire that came with the setup is unacceptable for 500+ watts of power. But maybe im just picky. Everyone says this set is the best speakers theyve ever heard, but when you have a car thats chuck full of Diamond Audio s600a components, it almost makes this setup sound like theyre made from cardboard. if time and a little bit more money is not a factor, buy the Diamonds i referenced or some MB Quart Q lines and build your own home speaker setup from those, otherwise youll be spending upwards of $10k for that type of sound for a home theatre. Or take the simple route and buy the Bose Cube setup... not quite Diamond Audio, but decent sound for any home audio enthusiast. Lastly, for $250, again, this is the best youll get. So if this is your budget, buy them and enjoy! I hope this review helped!Thanks and enjoy your speakers!

I got the X-530's as a christmas present. they're absolutely amazing! we had them plugged into the tv and everything sounded great. Once i got them back to my dorm room and hooked them up to my computer, things just got better! Great sound from all the speakers, solid bass from the big sub. the sub can be heard all the way at the opposite end of the hall! my roommate and i watch movies/tv shows at night and i have to almost turn the sub off because even at 1/3 the way up it vibrates the bed when a cars on screen! my only suggestion is that the front 2 speakers could have a tad more treble. oh well, thats what i have my philips hooked up along with it :)

Overall I think the Logitech speakers are worth buying. But I have listed a few problems and fixes that a merely opinions that have not been tested.1. I have heard a lot of reviews of unfortunate burn outs and popping noises. I am not an expert at electrical circuits but I was told by a electrical engineers (friend) that the AC current in a normal household is supposedly filled with impurities caused by electromagnetic interference or EMI and Radio Frequency Interference or RFI. What I mean when I say impurities is that the flow of power from the AC outlet has many sudden surges and dips in power supply I am not implying that the increase and decrease in power is tremendous, in reality they are very small but I was told that over time those small increases and decreases could potentially damage appliances such as the Logitech Z-5500 speakers. What I did was buy a power sentry that was a surge protector and regulated the flow of electricity what they called it on the box was "Clear Connect Power Conditioning" I cannot say that this is a fix for future popping noise although it could be I am merely laying down my opinions and opinions of others. Please leave comments.2. The design of the Speakers is incredible...if you don't plan on mounting them. They aren't impossible to mound but they are problematic what I mean is that the actual speaker part is blocking a clear "shot" to the hole in which you can screw a screw in. would this stop me from not recommending this product? Definitely no.3. Enjoy

We needed some speakers for travel that were both compact and usable! We did our research and really preferred the look of these over other models. We were a little nervous (having not based our top 'must-have' as great sound) but we were completely satisfied.The V20 Notebook speakers performed really well with MP3 playback, movie watching and Talk Radio. Yeah, they don't have a nice deep bass or warmer middle but they get their power from the USB port! A massive improvement over the built-in notebook speakers and they look cute too.One downside is the lack of a AUX input. Other than that, we are very happy with the purchase.Oh, the travel/storage case is great too.

Awesome speakers when watching movies. Music is also good, I use the direct 6 channel mode for music (not the Music mode). It sounds better. But it is no way of audiophile quality. But I would disagree with many people who say the sound is bass heavy.

Review this, review that. Went here, went there. Listened to all the speaker systems I could. Having a great ear for music can be a pain to satisfy. I happily selected the Logitech 540s over the pricier systems, and I am pleased to say that everything about the purchase through Amazon went smoothly; the speakers were easy to set up, and the quality of sound is just great. CDs, DVDs,and Pandora are my primary source of entertainment on this computer.I had one problem with the controller. And Logitech (through their website) was extremely responsive and satisfied the situation in timely order. (I'd say Dell could learn something from this process!)I have a second set just for the TV, too!!BUY the 540's and ENJOY!

I just love Logitech & they have made their systems so easy to set up. I love the sound this speaker system gives so much I bought two of them, one for my desktop & one for my laptop. The laptop is used for movies on Netflix so I get that surround sound every time. My desktop sits on a "U" shaped desk so I am really getting that surround sound in my office. I really love both sound systems! Let's just say when I want some peace I just have to go into my office or my other room & just boot up & I am in a world all to myself!

My first review was written in April 2008. The Logitech Z-5500 that I purchased back then fizzled in July 2009 due to a power surge. Having this item connected to a surge protector won't necessarily protect it from damage. Logitech will not replace the subwoofer only. So you would have to purchase an entirely new system. Which is what I did. The sound quality of this item is so good and I couldn't find anything to match. So I purchased another one. There have been other owners who have commented that their system only lasted for about a year and it's unfortunate that I experienced the same thing. But needless to say the quality, clarity, and power of the sound is that impressive that I purchased another one. Just beware that the electronics are very sensitive and the amp can blow with slight variations in your power source. If the second one fizzles within the next 5 years I won't be buying another one.*************************************************************************************For a fraction of the cost of a Bose of any model, you can have one of these. Right out the box, my Logitech Z-5500 has superb sound. A solid bass that's second to none and sweet highs that don't make you cringe. What I like most about this system is that you can turn it down low and still feel that solid thump of the bass and enjoy crystal clear surround sound. I only wish it came with all of the connectors that are not included in the box. But for a few bucks more you can buy what you need and plug this system up to your IPod, Mp3, DVD, TV, CD, Computer, etc. and you still come out better than paying for an expensive Bose. The sound quality is fantastic, just as good as a Bose or maybe even better.

Big sound for small price. I have X-230 2.1 speakers that I am very happy with and it looks like that the same satellite speakers are used for this unit. I was right. They sound great. I have these hooked up to my TV so I will not be able to get true 5.1 decoding, but I don't want to spend the money for a true 5.1 system compatible with TV and DVD viewing.

I've had these speakers for over a month and I absolutely love them. They sound amazing, the bass kicks hard, they're clear and there are numerous inputs in receiver module. These speakers are great for anything you need be it music, movies or video games. Only word of caution is that the subwoofer is HUGE. It's literally as big as an ottoman. But other than that, these are great speakers that will suit your needs. You will not find a set of speakers in this price range that also has a receiver. So if you are on the fence about this purchase, go ahead and buy these!

Received these as a Christmas present, and I must say it's one of the best gifts I receieved. I'm hardly an audiophile and don't know much about speakers or sound system technology, but I do know that these things were a VAST improvement over the tinny, weak sound I had been getting from my built-in laptop speakers. Deep, rich, clear sound with great bass. Like I said, I'm hardly an expert on laptop speakers, but I highly recommend these. I especially like the fact that they plug in via a USB port, and come with their own nifty carrying case. I also have a Logitech webcam I bought a while back- it seems to me that Logitech is becoming my go-to brand when it comes to quality computer accessories. Highly recommended.

The speakers sound very good for their size. No complaints. Two issues. The buttons are stiff and not helpful. Plus, my speakers only work after the Toshiba notebook boots and then the speakers are plugged in. If they are plugged in first, the notebook won't boot up. Still working on that.

For the money this system is outstanding. The sub is huge and sounds great. I have it hooked up to my 40 in lcd by the optical cable and my ps3 and cable are hdmi to the tv. I am getting digital optical sound. I know its not full hd sound but it still sounds great. I can also hook up my ipod or computer to the speakers with the direct cables. The sub, center channel, and surround speakers can each be adjusted to how powerful you want each to be. It's also nice to have the remote to control the sound. Put these speakers to the test and you wont be disappointed. I put Days of Thunder in to test them out and WOW!

I really like these speakers. They are lightweight and easy to store in their carrying case. Just what i was looking for.

I have owned several surround systems. I bought this specifically because I wanted something lower cost that would support 2 digital inputs. The real motivation was that it was going into the Rec room and if/when the kids damage it I didn't want to have too much invested.The units meets my expectations. The sound quality is good, the system is simple, and it was simple to install. I have 2 reservations. 1. the mounting brackets for the satellite speakers are limiting, 2. the fiber optic plug is located to closely to the digital coax cable so it does not positively insert with the larger back shell of a monster brand fiber optic cord. Overall, it is a good unit with quality sound and an excellent value in this price range.
