I've experienced nothing but trouble with these speakers stuttering after a few minutes of play. I've tried everything suggested by Logitech support, but nothing has worked. I don't think it's the speakers, though, because they work fine on my Windows 2003 Server computer. I've gotten all the latest drivers, but nothing has helped. I have to assume that there is an incompatibility with this Toshiba laptop that is not readily discernible. The speakers sound fine (much better than the tinny built-in speakers) up until they start stuttering.

I have had my speakers for about a month and a half now, after pining for them and reading the rave reviews for months before purchasing them. The sound quality is amazing, and the bass is full of power, as other reviews point out. Further, the shipping was amazingly fast from Amazon. Great product! I couldn't be more happy!

This is a Great sound system.. I have always like logitech products and these logitech speakers just reinforce why I like logitech products. The sound quality is terrific and the best part is that the subwoofer sounds Great I like the smooth thump when Im watching a movie or listening to music.. It was well worth $$$.

If you're looking for an entry level 5.1 speaker set-up, look no further. This is by far the best sound value for your money. This system doesn't have the amazing power of the Z-5500 or the Z-680, but then again, you're only paying around $55 market price (MSRP $79.99) versus $300 ($399 MSRP). You'd be hard pressed to find a better 5.1 build for under $150.I was pretty impressed with its overall performance. The satellites aren't super crisp and clear, but they sound pretty rich and full. I wish the high frenquencies were a little better defined, but I'm being nit picky. The bass is not bone-shaking, but it's tight and well rounded without that clangy sound associated with smaller, less expensive subs.The overall sound is clean and rich and they make very efficient use out of the rated wattage. When playing music, the sound field comes alive with lush sounds. When gaming, the sound puts you well into the environment, with everything sounding "realistic." As for DVD's, the x-530's shine! I can't believe these speakers are so cheap for how good they sound! I bet a few years ago, something like this would have retailed for closer to $200...If you don't have the budget for the high end systems, this is definitely a great alternative.*note* you must have a 5.1 source like an Audigy 2 card to be able to get sound from all the speakers. Make sure all the wires are connected properly. And if you don't have Dolby Digital, well, you just don't know what you're missing... I would say that Dolby Digital is almost as big a step from stereo to 5.1 as mono to stereo was... You'd be AMAZED by the discrete surround imaging (separate sound coming from each speaker), and this system delivers beautifully!

I was quite impressed by the quality sound produced by my friend's Z680 (also bought from Amazon) which provoked me to buy one for me. But unfortunately the price went up which made me to go for the Z5500 (the next version) as there wasn't much difference in terms of price. Luckily I got a very good deal of $265.99 with free shipping for the Z5500 and this should be one of the lowest price I have ever seen in Amazon. So I ordered and they shipped me the same day and was delivered to me in two working days which is unbelievable for this "Giant" pack.Thanks Amazon!! So, I got it before Christmas and had fun with music and movies during the holidays. After listening to these speakers, I cannot imagine getting such a nice speakers for this low price and I also don't think you will get these low prices anywhere else other than Amazon.Absolutely "no review" is required in terms of the speaker quality, again it is already "THX" certified. I would also recommend a Monster optical cable (8feet or 4feet) for those who buy this speaker. The outcome is tremendous.Appearance wise the Z5500 is more cute and sleek than it's predecessor Z680. Also, be very careful handling the subwoofer as it is so heavy and he is the "BASS" guy. The control unit has a much improved look and feel with this version. Otherthan that so far I haven't seen anything negative to talk about. Finally I can say that I am one of the most satisfied customer of Amazon and Logitech products (especially after buying Z5500). I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good 5.1 speaker system. No second thoughts, you will be surprised!! Thanks.Note : After buying and getting the speakers connected, please be aware that you are always at a higher risk of your neighbours complaints. :-)

This speaker system is the best I have heard for the price. The sub-woofer provides a deep rich bass, even at low listening levels. The highs are crisp and sharp. The gaming experience is definitely enhanced with the sound quality these speakers provide. All in all, anyone looking for great sound at a reasonable price will not go wrong with this system.

What a great product. I have only 2 external speakders hooked up because of college dorm space reasons, but this things packs an audio punch. I have heard nothing but compliments, and even if the volume is not turned up very loud, i can still hear the song (no, not just the bass) even through two walls...somehow, the audio is just dense!

I bought the Z5500 from Amazon at $269 with free shipping and it arrived just 2 days after I ordered!I already had the Logitech Z680's but couldnt resist amazons price and the thought of having a 10" subwoofer, I'm very glad I 'upgraded' its a definate improvment over the Z680s in every category ,Except for the fact Logitech chose to use RCA cable for speaker wire wich cant be changed,it can however be extended if need be.The bass output is of course noticably deeper and louder thanks to the 10" subwoofer,Certain MP3's that would fall flat on the Z680's 8" sub now rattle the window in my room on the Z5500 10" ,also to my suprise the Satellites sound quality is even more detailed and crisp plus the midrange has been improved. Half Life 2 in 5.1 sounds incredible. (Audigy 2 soundcard)The one thing that bothered me a lot with Z680's control pod was text visibility, this has been greatly improved on the Z5500's inlcuding the viewing angle. Also it is much quicker at switching through the various inputs and the Volume knob control no longer has any lag ,basicly it responds as fast as you can turn it. The actual design and color scheme of the Z5500 pod is nicer as well, The Headphone and AUX input have been relocated to the right side panel of Z5500's pod, instead of being on the front panel like Z680's, this might be better or worse for some.The remote control looks the same as the Z680's,not very flashy or impressive looking. but its now Black and has a few extra buttons that give you quick access to each input(Coax,Optical and Direct)Overall im very happy with this purchase, the Z5500's simply cant be beat for the price ,I've got my Xbox connected via Optical cable and DVD player via Coax and everything sounds superb on this system, Highly recommended.

wonderful product. no complain WHAT SO EVER. good looking. loud volume. the RCA cable is a good design, depends on if you like it or not. oh . don't forget that you have hardware read on DTS 96/24. a must have if you want to have alsome sound.

These speakers sound awesome for an all in one system. I bought them for my pc and have been very happy with the sound quality. But they do not even come close to sounding like my high end home theater. But what do you expect for 250$ to 450$. Ignore all the comlplaints. If this is the type of system you are looking for it is one of the best. All the complaints you have read are from people trying to sound like audiophiles. If you are an audiophile you would not be looking at this in the first place. However if all you want is an easy to install all in one system with great sound that plays more than loud enough to piss people off, for under 500$. Then look no further. If you want a top quality audiophile system. Then go spend thousands on a component system. Great for what they are. Sound better than most home theater combos from the big boys.

These speakers are pure quality. THX certified!! I have them hooked up to my PC's 5.1 soundcard... awesome sound!! DVDs sound effects are 5x better than the local theatre. The downside is that the cable from the control center to the sub is really short, so its hard to move the sub around.

The sound is crystal clear. Probably the best quality speakers I've ever had. I love how I can change the settings based on what I'm doing. If I watch a movie, just change it to the movie setting, music, it's sharp and very strong. All around, I'm satisfied.

Whenever I do presentations I have in the past had to lug around speakers, cables and power supplies - these beauties comes in their own case and connect to the pc via USB, and get the sound signal and power via this cable - it doesn't get easier and great sound quality.....

The system is OK, but I expected a little more attention to detail at this price range. Here are my gripes, in order of importance:1) loud thud emitted when digital coax input detects a signal, or a change in signal format - This happens often when you are navigating the menu of a DVD (e.g. stereo to Dolby transition), and even from the DVD's title loop running on its own. As Supper Nanny would say, "that's not acceptable". (I guess there is some chance that the issue is with my DVD player.)2) system is very susceptible to power line surges - I have an unusual washer/dryer appliance which has a motor that kicks in every few minutes while running. Every time the motor starts, I get a loud pop from the system.3) adjustment of speaker direction is limited - except for the center channel, the satellites cannot be adjusted to anything other than an upward-facing angle.4) "night mode" feature not documented anywhere - I assume this is some kind of dynamic range limiting function. It's not mentioned in the manual or website product pages.I bought this system because of the controller and the wide range of inputs (no need for an A/V receiver). The subwoofer is too large and heavy for my taste-- I didn't realize how large it was looking at the pictures.

if you have been reading reviews on this piece, you will find that their only downfall is that they use rca cables instead of speaker wire. let me tell you that that problem has been fixed. the speakers are amazing. they are clear and loud. setup took me 5 minutes. i highly recommend them. WARNING: THEY WILL MAKE YOU GO DEAF IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL!

I am very happy with these speakers. I bought them for my computer, but I decided to use them for my TV which is in a different room. I am not too impressed with them for playing music, however they are great for watching dvds in surround sound. I would have given them 5 stars, but I noticed a lack of highs. Sometimes the speakers sound like they are clipping when a high frequency sound is emited. These speakers are VERY clear and the bass definatley rattles the windows of my house. If you are buying speakers for movies and gaming these are the speakers for you. If you are going to be soley using them for music I would look elsewhere. Overall, I am very satisfied.

What else can you expect for under $60. I hooked up these speakers to my Audigy 2ZS and I played Toy Story 2 with DTS and I just stood up there watching(listening ???). It is so crisp and neat. I am really happy with these speakers.

These speakers are great especially for the price. I am running them through a Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and they sound cyrstal clear. The sub is also very good, haven't heard any distortion from it yet. These speakers also easily transfer to a tv or dvd player.

i bought these speakers a few weeks ago and love them! These speakers sound great and can go very loud. I use them in a small dorm room and small bedroom at home and havent had a problem with the sub despite its large size. I reccomend the speakers to any music/game/movie lover! I use these speakers on my computer and with my TV and they are great and a breeze to set up! Get these speakers and you definitely won't regret it!!!

I finally got to experience the raw power of the Z 5500's. I received mine today and these speakers are simply awesome. The bass was so thunderous that it actually shook my wall shelf on the other side of the room, making my CD's fall off on the floor.If you are looking for a great set of speakers for a little over 200 bucks, free shipping get to Amazon fast.They won't last at this price.

These speakers are even better than I read about. The main thing that nobody seems to mention is that these speakers basically have a built-in receiver so you can plug your DVD player or whatever directly into the speakers. This, imo, is so important that all the other competing speaker systems really don't compete. Obviously, it's not as good as having a real receiver and can't amplify as much as an external system, but most people that want to hook these speakers up to their computer and other devices simultaneously, and would like to save space and money, would really appreciate this. The toslink output is the highest quality I've heard. Also, I made the mistake that others have made of removing the screw on the back of one of the speakers, rendering it impossible to put the stand back on. And if you open it to fix the problem, you'll void your warranty, so I have to send it to Logitech to be replaced. So, if you need to put these on a stand, whatever you do don't remove any screws on the speaker.

This system is primarily intended for your computer, however I think it is much to nice. This system really knows how to push out some really rich sound. If you are in the market for a low costing system I highly recommend the z-5500. I hooked it up to my tv and dvd player with pretty much ease, (make sure you get the right cables) and within a little bit I was pissing my neighbors off. Great buy. Logitech seems like they have quality products in general.

This is an excellent speaker system for the small living room along with your computer. The sound is distortion free to very high volumes, and it reproduced movie sound with excellent fidelity. Listening to music on this system is good except for some complex classical or ambient works.

but only in comparison to it's predecessor, the Z680's, also from Logitech. I have the 2.1 version of the 680's and have listened on many occasions to a friend's Z680's. The Z680's sound slightly fuller in the midrange. The 5500's sound a little dry in comparison. The difference isn't dramatic and certainly wouldn't be a something that should deter anyone from buying the 5500's. Especially considering Amazon's price which is dramatically lower than what you'll find in retail outlets. CompUSA and Fry's both get 399 for the 5500's. Nice work Amazon. The 5500's are very clean and are capable of very high output. I wouldn't hestitate to use these in a living room in a hometheater application. The output from the satellites and sub is astounding even in comparison to much more expensive and dedicated hometheater systems. The inputs on the control module will accomodate just about everyone. Toslink (optical), coax and analog connections. I have two computers connected. One via toslink and the other analog. Included is a wireless remote control. In short, I'm very satisfied with the 5500's but given the chance to buy again, I'd have to go with the Z680's even if this meant buying them used or refurbished. If you want best in class multichannel sound, the 680's and 5500's are the way to go.

First of all, I didn't expect my shipment to come so soon since I chose the super savings shipping. Wha la! I ordered them on a Thursday and it was on my doorstep Monday. Thank you amazon!!The speakers and the subwoofer are a grand experience with the Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS audio card. Clean sound, and the bass...wow! no distortion whatsoever. It's the best bass subwoofer I've ever owned. Listening to music just makes my ears tremble and quiver with satisfaction...lol. I've not tried the digital sound yet, so I know whats gonna happen when I do...Ear orgasm!!! LOL!I purchased them for $279.99 with a $30 rebate, so I actually paid $249.99 for them. What a deal! I almost made the mistake at buying them at my local Best Buy for $399.99. Those bastards!! lol!The downsides to this speaker system is that if your not careful, you young people can damage your hearing :(, the subwoofer is heavy and is not easy to take out of box. So, if you are a female ordering this you better have a guy around to help you lift that sucker out of the box.Setup is not to bad. Takes a little while to setup everything, but not hard at all.Overall, this is an awesome system. I recommend this to anyone just wanting to improve their sound system especially on PC for games, movies, music..etc and want the best speaker sytem that money can buy and of course having the gratification that every dollar spent was well worth it. :)

I am extremely pleased with these speakers: powerful, nice looking, very easy and practical remote and console, very good sound. Nevertheless, I would definetly recommend to use the digital inputs over the analog ones: the sound is much brighter and precise.

From the minute you lift the box you know you're dealing with a heavy weight...most of it in the sub-woofer.Setup is straight forward. The audio wire is even color coded to prevent phasing from reversing polarity.The sound is full and dynamic giving life to surround sound movies and games with quality expected from significantly more expensive speaker systems.The only drawback when using this system with a computer is the shear size of the sub-woofer and speakers. It's tough to squeeze it all into a typically small workspace.In my opinion Logitech has created a 5-star thouroughbred for the serious gamer or movie aficienado.

I recently ordered these from Amazon and as usual, even with free shipping, they arrived relatively fast (ordered sunday evening, had them thursday afternoon). I'm currently using them with my computer via the analog cable supplied. I only have a SBLive 5.1, so this is about as good as it's going to get for me from my computer until I get a new sound card. And even only connected by analog, the quality of these is fantastic; the sound is crystal clear and the bass is phenomenal (although you're supposed to keep the massive sub at least 2 feet away from electronics like monitors, which is a pain.. but necessary). However, soon I am getting the x2vga for my Xbox, which allows me to use my monitor as a small but functional HDTV, and more importantly in relation to this, it has an optical audio out which I'll connect to these.. I can't wait. I only had one very small problem with these: when I first hooked them up, the rear speakers were acting odd. After some frustration and tinkering, I finally switched which ends of the analog cords went where, and that somehow fixed the problem.. I still don't know exactly what was causing it and why, but oh well, a small problem that was easily fixed. Only a very small smudge on the record of these speakers, compared to the quality.

i bought these to get some cheap speakers to listen to my mp3s, since mp3s suck anyway, and im an audiophile listener mainly to vinyl.much to my surprise, these are the BEST sounding computer speakers ive ever heard. i think because the sub isnt TOO crazy, its so small its just perfect, and the little buggers on the top of the desk have amazing clarity and range of frequency. Let me start off by saying these speakers are heavy.After that, they are the most amazing speakers I have heard that didn't cost as much for one as it did for this whole system. There ARE better sounding systems out there...they just cost 3 or more times as much.By the way, these speakers are heavy...The hardware decoder is a great feature. It means you can run a dvd player into it and get full dolby or DTS 5.1. The analog in means you can hook in your pro audio decoder or computer sound card. This system has full pro logic II capabilities which is great for watching tv. Just set it to PLII Movie. Most tv shows are encoded with pro logic, and if they're not it does a great job of making good surround sound.All in all a great system, just make sure you have a cart or two people when you move it. Cause its HEAVY.

These speakers give a great sound for their price. The only out of the box issue is the bass. Even on the bass dial's lowest setting it can overpower the highs and mids. The way around this is to use your music software's equalizer (in itunes - command #2) to lower the bass. Once this obstacle is overcome you have some decent speakers that sound much better than their price tag.

I've had these speakers for half a year. At first, I was hesitant spending $300 on computer speakers. I haven't regretted it since. These speakers are worth the money. The sound effects are amazing whether you're watching movies or playing games. You won't believe the size (and weight) of the subwoofer. At 1000-Watt peak performance even your next street neighbor will complain about the noise. The volume can be increased/decreased consistently without jumps. Setting volume to whisper-quiet while someone is sleeping in the next room works pretty nicely.A few accessories you should consider buying (assuming you already have good quality sound card which supports digital out):1. Digital Coaxial or Fiber Optics cable for digital quality sound.2. Advanced surge protector which filters power noise. Otherwise you're likely to hear constant background noise from the subwoofer and loud clicking when light switch is flipped.

I din't have to much to say becouse my english sucks,, just that I had logitech Z-5300 with me for about 6 months, I was really happy I took them to my country,, lot of people offered me 400 bucks for it, becouse these systems are really hard to find them in that country, I came back to america, my brother asked me to order the Z-5500 online, while he came to vacation, I did order the system online, but it does not arrived in time , my brother left 2 days before the system was here, so I had to sell him the 5300 for 120 bucks that I had in my country and I kept this one, I was really sad until I opened the box of Z-5500,,,, "amazing system", it was exiting becouse this baby looks a litle different than the other, nicer, simply better, I could not wait to hook it up, and,,,,and,,, and,,,, man, what a sound,, clear, bass very strong, i'm still amazed with it,,, it is a refurbished item, 216 bucks and no shiping, but, i would not change it for any other, even those famous BOSE,,, if you are planning to get a good quallity sound, get this baby, you won't be dissapointment,,,

If you are looking for a top of the line computer speaker system, look no further. At a final price under $300 you can't find a better 5.1 surround system. I spent almost a month comparing brands and reviewing favorable attributes for 5.1 surround computer speaker systems and this was by far the best unit that I found. Logitech once again produces a high quality product...easy to set up and use as well...that I can't see being beat any time soon. Deffinitely worth the investment (if you can even consider it to be one).

Right now I have this sytem connected to My Xbox, DVD player and IPod. I had it connected to my computer during the summer, but when I went back to college I wanted to share the amazing sound with my roommates. This sytem rivals any Bose or Sony system that I've heard and its about 1/4 of the price.If you're worried about loudness, put your fears to rest. This sytem can get as lound as you can handle and more. Its the perfect compliment to any Xbox game, computer game, DVD or music collection. I would recomend this to anyone who needs a versitile, high quality sound system for a fraction of the price of a name brand system.

these speakers are amazing.....got them about 2 weeks ago and just hooked them up last night.... and boy do they ever rock the house.....they are clear and the bass blows everything away out there....buy these...you will be amazed at the sound they produce.....i also have 2 sets of z680s from logitech....but these blow them away....i also have a set of klipsh pro media 5.1 speakers they are very good also....but the logitechs have more to them for less...and they come with the remote.the klipsh have no remote.or digital or optical input. im going to order another set of these and sell of the z680s....these are worth the money.....

I've held off reviewing these for 3 months waiting to get a Dolby Digital Live encoding soundcard to get real DD 5.1 into these from my PC..It was worth the wait.. these speakers with a DDL card like Soundstorm 2 or the HiTec X-Mystique 7.1 Gold (this is the one ive bought) sound fantastic.I'm not gonna get audiophile on you.. plenty of other revies have doen that for me.. just get the card.. get the cable and get the speakers.. thats all there is to it.

When I got this speaker system, I was wondering about its ability to put out sound. Don't be fooled by its size. The Logitech Z5500 Digital 5.1 system puts out sound like you wouldn't believe! This system could be a good replacement for a home audio system that is in your living room where the TV is for watching movies or using your media center with it. I'd recommend this system to those who would like killer sound but can't get themselves to spend alot of money for it!
