This is a good product in every way except sound quality. It's OK for what I'm looking for (decently loud, robust build, good looking), but there are better sounding products in this price range.

I bought these speakers when I thought my old ones had a blown speaker; it turned out to be a wiring issue that I fixed when these where in transit. I had full intentions of returning them. That was until while I was at work my daughter had plugged them in and after listening to the clarity and I just couldnt.

I am extremely pleased with this sound system. I have had occasion over the last month to use it with a laptop, desktop, flat screen 60" television, and a smaller, older television. It works extremely well with all of these devices. I had no trouble setting it up at any time, and it worked immediately with every machine.The system itself is quite small, and it has a little bit of a cheap look. One thing thing I disliked (purely cosmetic, for what it's worth) is that the wires on the back of the speakers are bright orange, while the rest of the system is black.Otherwise, this is a wonderful, compact little sound system. Highly recommended.

Setting: Work computerUse: Streaming background music, listening to podcast/videosI bought these for two reasons; one was aesthetics...I wanted black speakers for my desk. Second, was the price. They fit the bill on both levels. They sound really good, look nice and fit well on my desk.The only downside is the on light, located on the speaker with the controls, is fairly bright. I may end up removing the light because it's a bit distracting.

For the low price point, these speakers provide very good sound. Certainly better than the on-board speakers of my laptop. Music and games are brought out more fully. Durable also. Well worth the $. Highly recommended.

What a great little speaker system.I bought one, and was completely satisfied.I have since bout 3 more.We have 5 laptops, and they now are great for playing music,video games, movies, and more.The built in volume control gives you the opportunity to set the volume, without resetting the computer's "Volume Setting".I have bought several "Logitech" products from Amazon, and love them all.Buy this product

Solidly constructed speakers with really good sound ! You can hook an ipod or other device to them and it has a headphone input also. They are way better then my old plastic speakers I had. Very reasonably priced also. I compared and for the money you cannot beat them.

As the title states, the speakers were defective upon arrival. They were tested on multiple outlets to be sure that it wasn't a power issue, and the product will be returned shortly. The review may be updated depending on how the product will behave once I get a replacement.

Highly disappointed in these. Purchased to replace a really old(5+ years) creative 5.1 set and the sound quality nor the loudness in general was even close.And on top of that they have already completely stopped working as of today and i received them October 12, 2012.

I received these speakers for Christmas & have used them a handful of times. Today, I tried to play something and only one side plays music. The other side cuts in and out. The issue is with the wire connecting the two speakers, I can wiggle it and the sounds goes in and out. Pretty disappointed, it looks like it's been too long to return to Amazon.

I had purchased the Logitech Z305 soundbar speaker for my main computer which happens to be a laptop of the "desktop replacement" variety. The Z305 is excellent, but too long for the smaller 12 inch screen laptop I travel with, so I thought I'd try the Z205. Nice compact design. The Z205 has an easy to open clip that fits along the top edge of your screen. The unit is about 7 by 3 inches, weighs a bit more than I would have expected and comes with an inexpensive fabric pouch to carry the speaker and its USB cable. The USB cable has a micoUSB connector on the speaker side and conceivably could be troublesome down the road. Time will tell how durable the socket on the speaker housing is. There's a combination volume up/ power / volume down switch on the top. On my Windows 7 64-bit system, the speakers were recognized immediately and installed without problem. The big issues are, of course, how loud are the speakers and what kind of frequency response do they have? Well, the speaker volume at its maximum with my system pumping out everything it can is not "room filling". Not by a long shot. These speakers provide a considerable boost over the horribly inadequate speakers and audio output of my laptop, but I suspect that in a motel room with noisy air conditioning, you're not going to hear these well more than a few feet away. Too few feet, as a matter of fact. The Z205 is more than adequate for a "personal listening experience", that is when you are sitting at the computer, but beyond that, it becomes problematic. My laptop is cursed with both lousy, tinny speakers and inadequate audio output. I suspect that when used with a computer with a more capable audio amplifier, the Z205 would indeed fill the room with sound. As for response, they are vastly superior to my laptop speakers which could be bested by a piece of paper rolled into a megaphone shape. Bass response, as you would expect, is lacking, but overall the response is actually "sparkly". Pleasant listening indeed. Overall, these are excellent for pairing with the laptop you travel with. They're compact, come with a useful carrying case and provide good fidelity, if at a lower than really desirable volume.Jerry

I found these for $10 and am so glad I bought them. I have a small netbook, an Acer Aspire One, which has a good little screen but bad speakers. I'm not an audiophile - all I want is to be able hear my TV and radio dramas above the sound of running water while washing dishes. These speakers make it possible to do that! I can't even blast them because they get so loud that I worry about bothering my neighbors. A+!

It's great and all but having to put the speaker on top of the screen of the laptop just puts more weight in it, which I don't like that. I would give it a five star but I just don't like the idea of having to put on more weight on top of the screen. Besides that it's great sound quality. There is this other small problem I have every time im watching a movie and I pause it to go do something and come back and unpause it there is no sound, which makes me refresh the page to get the sound again, only happens when I pause a video/movie.

I purchased my Logitech Z-5500 speakers probably 6 years ago on sale for $290 - I'm happy to report that my great deal would still make a great one today. At the time, Klipsch still produced the ProMedia Ultra 5.1 system which comparing to the $290 Logitechs was $340. Given the phenomenal reviews the Z-5500's garnered I went with them - the Logitech's also had a larger subwoofer than the Klipsch (10" on the Logitech, 8" on the Klipsch). In all the years I have had these speakers I have loved them the entire time.Bass response from the subwoofer is fantastic and you can easily rattle your house and pictures off the wall with it. At a true 188 watts RMS power this little 10" subwoofer is easily able to outperform most HTIB subwoofers and is easily able to compete with entry level stand alone home audio grade subwoofers. I purchased my Z-5500's before becoming an audiophile but I am still amazed and pleased with these speakers. Those of a critical ear will be able to hear a bit of lack in the midrange as should be expected from a satellite system, but the crossover that Logitech has set on these speakers is fantastic. I have heard $1,000 HTIB systems that don't even sound as good and discrete as these speakers do.You have inputs for Digital Coax, Optical, as well as the standard PC audio connectors offering you the ability to hook other devices to the speakers. Their capability to play DTS audio sold me, however the THX testing requirements are strenuous and it is impressive that Logitech passed their test with these speakers. Six years later I still have found nothing superior to replace these speakers (Barring installing a full out home audio receiver and buying individual pairs of speakers). Remember that the 505 watt rating is NOT peak, that is CURRENT RMS so these speakers can get VERY LOUD! Each speaker is rated at 62 watts, the center at 69 watts. Do not, however buy these and think you will swap the speakers out for some nicer speakers you have lying around. The built in crossover will turn even the most esoteric speakers into satellite speakers.The length of wire provided is more than sufficient in length and given the nature of the satellite speakers equally sufficient. These speakers use true audio cable and are not the integrated style most computer speakers use making them versatile in the ability to use whatever length of cord you need. The control pod is very cool looking and the remote is simple and well-laid out. On a side note, the batteries Logitech gives you with the remote are AMAZING!! I am using the original batteries they included and they still work pefect 6 years later of continuous use (Eastpower knows how to make a long lasting battery)!This is the end all be all of computer speakers. Once you buy these be sure to get a nice sound card - I use an M-Audio Revolution 5.1, but the HT Omega sound cards are also really nice (I'd avoid Creative). If you have any interest at all in the sound of your computer you will love these speakers. I use far more pricey components in my home theater and while the dynamics of my home theater are superior, you would be amazed how well these speakers can compete with a system such as I have (Over $3,500 home theater system). Do NOT believe anyone who says these speakers are unreliable or anything else - I've had these for as I said many times, 6 years+ and I have had no problems with them ever. Only occasionally does the control pod show weird symbols when I adjust the volume - but they go away and are inconsequential to the function.You're getting THX certified, high powered speakers with a big sound, remote operated, and audio quality on a level that would normally cost far more - what are you waiting for? If you're reading this you're thinking about getting it - DO IT!! You won't be disappointed!

purchased this speaker for my husband because he works remotely. sometimes at home, work office, construction trailer, starbucks, etc. this is a compact portable speaker with some good sound quality.

I wanted some speakers just for plugging in our mp3 players and tablets. These fit the bill perfectly. They are larger in size than I thought they would be - so look at the dimensions carefully if they have to fit on shelves or something.They get LOUD however there is serious distortion if you try to turn the volume all the way to MAX. This shouldn't be a problem unless you are hard of hearing because they definitely get 'loud enough'.

I did a lot of research prior to this order. This small inexpensive spkr does exactly what I wanted it to do. I had no problem loading or adjusting the volume. Another great product from Logitech.

Maybe my expectations are simply too high, but I am rather disappointed in the audio quality from these speakers, especially at lower volume levels.Recently my old set of 5.1 Logitech speakers that I use at my office finally gave up the ghost... It sounds like the amplifier gave up.Anyways. At home I have a set of Audioengine A2 speakers hooked up to my iMac. The Audioengine speakers sound amazing, and at $199 they should. One of the things I like about them is that they provide good stereo separation and good frequency response even at low driving levels.I also have several old cheap pairs of "PC speakers" lying all over the place. The cheap ones that typically come with a budget computer.I thought that these Logitech speakers would strike a compromise, being better than the throwaway cheapies but obviously not as good as my A2 speakers. I was wrong. Sound quality from these, at the volumes I can use at my office are not any better than any other cheap throwaway speakers that I've owned in the past. At reasonable volume levels stereo separation is virtually non-existent and dynamic range is terrible. They sound flat and lifeless.I realize that there is not much at this price point, but, honestly it's worth spending a little more and getting something that doesn't sound this bad.

I've owned several laptops over the years and despite manufacturer's claims about the sound quality, I have always found the built in speakers to be woefully inadequate and extremely annoying, especially when watching a movie. The Logitech Z-205 is a wonderful solution to this and is easy to hook up and when not in use, tucks away neatly in it's own storage/travel case.

I've had thewe speakers for a bit over a year now and they have been most impressive the whole time. I live in a situation in which I can't make anywhere nearly the full use of the system's power, but in brief experiments I've become convinced that their output potential is stunning. I use an optical connection from my Creative Titanium FAtality Pro sound card and a coax cable from my comcast HD channel box and get very good 5.1 sound from both. The speakers do offer such options as Steroo x 2 when the input is in 2 channnel format and that expansion is very effective. Even at rather low volumes the subwoofer's effect can be rather stunning, and it definitely produces output that is more felt than heard - IE subaudible frequencies. I can reccomend these speakers without reservation.

I had read the reviews, so I knew others who'd purchased this speaker were pleased with it, and I decided to give it a try. I received it quickly and was very pleased with its quality and ease of use. I will definitely use this when I need sound during a presentation. I am not sure if the more expensive ones work better, but if you're like I am and only need occasional sound in presentations, this is more than adequate.

I am so happy that I bought these great little speakers. I have bought this small Dell Latitude 420 12.1 screen, travel laptop and these speakers work very well. The sound is clear and strong. As you well know, you can't really enjoy your laptop unless you listen to the audio via a headphone set or a pair of external speakers. These ones are great. Also, it has an additional feature in that you can attach one end of the speakers to your small IPOD and listen to all the music you have recorded on your IPOD which will come trough really great thanks to these pair of wonderful speakers. Thank you Amazon, for a great purchase. This is how it works for the IPOD, the speakers come with two different attachments. One goes into the computer outlet and the other into the IPOD. Don't forget to plug in the computer into the electrical outlet as well. You are now ready to listen to your IPOD music through these great Stereo Speakers. ENJOY.......

I waited several years before I purchased these. My Klipsch Promedia 5.1's bit the dust about 2 years ago, the infamous amp problem. I didn't really want to spend $300 on another set of computer speakers at the time, so I bought the Logitech G51's. They were pretty good speakers for the money. After owning them for 23 months, the rears stopped working. Logitech made good on their warranty, and I have a check coming for what I paid for those speakers, being that they don't make this model any longer. Figured now was the time to go ahead and get what I really wanted. I consider the refund a down payment for the 5500's. I saw the price here and at another retailers rise and fall, rise and fall again. One day, C*****t C**y puts these on sale here using the marketplace for a pretty good price, and even after the shipping costs, they were still cheaper than I have seen in years.One thing I do not understand is why all of the high end sound cards for 5.1 and 7.1 speakers, when there are very few 5.1 computer speakers on the market anymore. These are the best 5.1 computers on the market now. These are not as good as my Klipsch were, but they are close. From most of the reviews that I have read, the longevity of these speakers is much better than the Klipsch ever were.Now when these things land at your house, I hope you are strong, as the box is very large and heavy. As I was unpacking the box, I was very impressed by the quality of the speakers and the size of the sub. Holy cow, that sub is huge!! They give you a lot of speaker wire, doesn't appear to be the best quality wire, but it will work for now. Setting them up was pretty easy. I am using the RCA analog connection to my PC for now, as I am all out of optical cables at the moment.Now for the good stuff. I have listened to these speakers at low volume listening to classical guitar, Phil Keaggy and the like to be exact. Now I am sure there are better speakers out there, but I am satisfied with the highs and the clarity of the music. I have had to turn the bass way down, and let me tell you, there is plenty of it. I love having the 5.1 speakers and being able to hear the sound all around you. I haven't had the chance to play any games on it yet, but I am looking forward to hearing things creep up behind me and raising the hair on the back of my neck just like my Klipsch used to do for me. Are they as good as the Klipsch, no, but they are pretty good.I am not sure why more speaker manufacturers don't make 5.1's anymore. Once you have them, you don't go back to anything else.Face it, you buy your speakers for the experience that they give you, and I believe these are the best 5.1's on the market right now. I know the price is high, and it waivers all the time. If you are on the fence, and you have the money and need quality computer speakers, wait for the right price point and jump in and get these. You will not be disappointed.

I got these speakers for $20 here on Amazon.com, and recently saw them at Tigerdirect.com's store for $140!! I was shocked to see these speakers for such a price, as I believe the MSRP is around $30. They are great speakers, heavy, well-made, they sound wonderful, easy to install and use, the cables are long enough, and there is nothing negative I can say about them. Best speakers for the price for sure.

I bought these speakers to replace my old Logitech speakers. After I set them up I discovered that they were not as good as my old speakers. As is often the case with Amazon, even though the vendor was not Amazon, they accepted my return with a full refund (although I had to pay shipping). It was worth the try.

I just needed some speakers to quietly play music at work. My old speakers were crackling and persnickety. These sound great for my purposes but there is no volume control on the speakers themselves so if I need to quickly turn it down I have to open whatever application is playing and find the volume control in that application and then turn it down, which feels cumbersome compared to just reaching over to the speakers and turning it down manually.

I use this on a acer netbook which has 1 poor speaker. Since I spend alot of time in hotels on skype I needed something louder than a basic netbook with a clear sound. This fits the bill.Only issue I have is that my computer does not always recognize the speakers but believe this to be a computer issue only. I would just reboot and usually works ok but I have started using a 1/8" to 1/8" jack from the headphone jack instead so the USB is just for power. Either way it works fine and clips on pretty well.

OK I am really blown away. I was looking for speakers for my mom's iPod i bought her for xmas, but I was very disappointed because, there is so much junk out there. First of all..... the speakers do not have that cheap made in china feel. Everything is solid. these are built like tanks. these are not your wimpy cheap plastic junk you are used to. The wires --- ok its got an AC cable (score even more points) and the AC cable is THICK, the wires to the speakers are nice and THICK and good quality. I cannot believe how good this is for the price. When I did the on/off volume knob it actually FELT solid and it even clicked. We hooked up the iPod (they give you a cable, but I had prior to bought a thin style connector cable thats thinner and made to connect mp3 players with a slim profile jack) the cable THEY provide is hardwired into the back and is OK but i wanted to use our own thin style cable, which I plugged into the front jack, which they give you a jack in the front but -- I probably will get my mom an female-to-female adapter so we can hook our thin cable connector to the back cable instead of using the front jack. So we fired up her shoutcast app and turned on her favorite station.. which is like a swinging Sinatra type of station... songs with REAL instruments (not POP) and I just could not in my life believe how good the sound is. Highs, midrange, and bass. it does not sound "tinny" or cheap AT ALL..... I mean, this is crazy good that I want to buy a pair for my PC (I normally listen thru headphones). The knobs are solid, the AC cord is high quality, the build quality is excellent and the sound quality is AMAZING.

Clip should be biggier.Slpeaker slips off easly. Otherwise works fine. Louder than speaker on laptop which is what wanted.

I bought this sound system because I have a laptop hooked to my Flat Screen 32 inch and my volume was way to low for myself or my company. Especially when the rain would pound on my steel roof while view my online programing. I have more volume than ever and it I want to now I can drown out the rain instead of having it drown out my sound instead. Definately worth the money and a great item that works well and has great sound.

Great sound ! Logitech had a great product in the X-540 System, I can not understand why it was discontinued. Poor judgement on Logitechs part. Five Stars for Great sound compared to what Logitech makes today. You can also try the 530 speaker Sys. Logitech made if you can't fined the X-540. Both are in the same family 530 or 540 sys.

These speakers were used on my desktop computer only. No matter what the volume was, we would hear a distortion sound here and there throughout a song. Changing CDs made no difference. Ever hear a speaker that's on it's way out? THAT'S THE SOUND WE HEARD!We returned them and ordered the Cyber Acoustics Subwoofer Satellite System CA-3602 speakers. That cured our problem!

Given the price and the lack of available space on my home desk, this is the perfect sound solution. The sound will not blow your socks off, but it is good enough to enjoy classical music and the Saturday broadcasts from the Met.

After 6 months of using these, they finally gave out. The bass is decent, but the watt limit prevents it from using it at full full volume over a long period time.

This is definitely a nice set of speakers. Low cost, efficient, good sounding desktop speakers. You really don't have to spend much to get quality sound and these are proof
