This is a decent speaker system for a computer, unless you're REALLY into hard rock or listening to your music exceptionally loud. When pushed, this system WILL distort! If you're listening to a stereo source, the two surround speakers don't really kick-in(with the surround button on the control pod turned "on") until they're cranked up , and at that point you start hearing distortion. They work great for watching movies and other sources with encoded surround sound. And, you WILL need to buy extension cords(RCA connectors)for the surrounds, unless you're setting/mounting them on the same desk/area you're keyboard/monitor are located. I like the convenience of the control pod, which I have setting under my 20" widescreen monitor.To be honest, I was hoping for something with a little more "kick", based on the pictures, but I think I got what I paid for.

I had been looking for a solution to weak sound on my HP laptop and these speakers fill the bill. They are light and attach fairly securely to the top of the screen (don't move the computer while they're attached). The sound is now adequate for all uses. Good sound,compact,fairly priced,and of excellent quality.

I replaced a Creative ProGamer (G550 I think) set of 5.1 speakers with these speakers to gain an optical input. As soon as hooked them up I was delighted with the sound quality. I'm also hoping that an R/F modulator that is being delivered will allow me to hook my XBox 360 into the coaxial input. My new definition of heaven is to play the Freddie Cole station on Pandora through these speakers.

The Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System is a great buy for both the price and the quality. However, there was one strange problem! Just like any speakers, they would pick up reception from a radio. Though, unlike most speakers, the Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System played back the intercepted radio transmission so clearly that it would sometimes make it difficult to listen to videos and music. This could just be a personal problem as of where I'm located and whether or not my cell phone is too close to the speakers. It's not worth not buying the speakers, because they're great, but if you don't like hearing the comforting noise of Spanish radio playing in the background, you're out of luck!

I bought these speakers over 3 years ago and they still work great. For thirty dollar speakers they are well worth the money. The only real problem I had with these is that there is no base adjustment which you don't see on cheaper speakers anyway.

Sound quality is excellent. Lots of power at reasonable volumes. Center speaker "clips" on to your monitor. Remote, while wired, has a decently long cord (5') with all the right things on it - power, volume, bass, auto-bypass headphone jack, and matrix mode. Matrix mode is a nice one-touch solution for listening to music through all channels. Replaced a Dell 5.1 system that was junk. This was an excellent upgrade.Cons: This set definitely has a "sweet spot" - these are NOT meant to be maxed out and will distort at higher volumes. Leave the bass and volume knobs somewhere in the middle, and you'll get great sound. If you absolutely have to have your already-half-deaf ears blown out, buy a higher wattage.

unless you are willing to set up a surround sound system with your computer, complete with expensive receiver, this is as good as you are going to get. Sounds great, loud, tons of options. decodes for you or accepts your decoded signal.None of these products, or sound cards really explain optical and its relationship to which system is doing the decoding. If you have a great soundcard and this product, how do you know which decoder you are using? does it matter?

These speakers are very nice sounding and have great range. The bass is excellent and the satellite speakers are superb sounding. They make for a great sound system in small environments, like a home office or computer room. I have the speakers hooked up to my PlayStation 3 media device. I have also read that the it supports full Dolby Surround Sound, but I haven't experienced that yet myself. But good sound does come out of the rear speakers and it sounds justs as good as the front and center ones. I would say that if you want reasonably priced, good quality speakers to fill a somewhat small space, that these would do the trick.

I bought this to get a bit clearer and louder sound out of my laptop. I get my voice mail through my laptop speakers and the tinny speakers in the laptop are poor. I got this expecting an ok laptop speaker but I got a very good laptop speaker and it has inputs for a line out of my MP3 player. Great sound in the hotel room.

These speaker sound really nice. They have an issue when using XP and Vista. They prefer to be the only device in a USB port or they sound bad. So if you have a USB mouse or similar it will affect sound quality. Apparently there is a Microsoft fix for this so don't let that put you off.The speakers in their case are as large as my netbook, a tad bigger than I expected, but the sound quality makes up for all the cons.

You wouldn't expect an under $30 pair of speakers to sound so good. I've set them up in my "man cave" and take my iPod whenever I'll be there for an extended period of time. Music always makes work more pleasant. Buy these. You'll be happy...

I recently bought the Z-2300 and I was not very happy about them. It was outputting music when the potentiometer was at 0% and a lot of noise starting at 50%. So I started to discuss with Logitech, they told me that my speakers were probably faulty, sent me a new set of speakers, which was doing the same thing.And then came my birthday, one of my awesome friend/wing man, got me those speakers.I'm just blown away by the quality of these speakers. Not only the sound is crystal clear, but also renders all kind of audio output, Stereo, Stereo x2, Dolby Digital Pro Logic, Dolby Digital and DTS.I would definitely suggest that you invest $5 for an optical cable (TOSLINK) and plug it to the remote to enjoy all the goodies of your favourite DVDs (DTS and Dolby Digital). The receiver automatically detects what kind of input is being sent, you don't have anything to do.Besides the center speaker, all the other speakers are the same size. They come with very 2 very large wire connectors for the rear speakers and they were sufficient for my room so I didn't have to buy longer connectors which is great.The subwoofer is a beast! This thing is huge, be prepared to have some room to fit under your desk, otherwise you won't know what to do with it.This is just the best sound you can get for the price. To have a better sound, one would have to invest in a particular receiver and separate speakers which would cost probably around $3000.I would recommend these speakers to anyone interested in a 5.1 home theater system, should it be for the living room, the sleeping room, or the bathroom.For those wondering if you need a good sound card for theses speakers, check this link: http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-373-2.htm

I have been in the market for a new set of speakers for my computer system. I wanted a set of speakers with surround sound. I like the ability of hearing music and other stuff in surround sound now since I didn't have anything like this before.I would recommend this item for anyone looking for a good set of speakers at a resonalbe price.This set of speakers matches my computer system.The speakers have a good sound quality and really have a nice neat look when grouped together. The only downside is the wires in the back as they can get tangled easily; then again it'snot a breal big matter.

Since there are lots of comments about the lead lengths, maybe some data would help (why is it not in the official specs?). Here are the approximate lengths that came with mine:Power input cord: 6ft 6in (to sub)Wired remote: 5ft 6in (from sub)Audio input: 6ft 2in (Three 3.5mm male stereo jack plugs on each end; green (front); black (rear); orange (center+sub)Center speaker: 7ft 2inFront speakers: 5ft 3inRear speakers: 14ft 2inThere is also an 8in adapter with a green stereo socket on one end, red and white female RCAs on the other (for use with a video game console).If you only have a single stereo output to feed these speakers you will only get sound out of the two fronts and the sub, unless you select matrix. Personally I find the matrix mode artificial sounding and hard to listen to, but it seems a waste to only use two of the five speakers so I piggy-backed two one-to-two stereo adapters to make three outputs and plugged in the green, black and orange input plugs (somebody suggested a Radio Shack Boostaroo, but I think that requires batteries - I get plenty of output with the passive one-to-three split). The rear speakers can then be placed alongside the front speakers and the center speaker puts out the sum of the two stereo channels. This gives a very acceptable sound when plugged into the headphone output of the TV and volume can be set with the TV remote. This sound is very much better than the sound from the TV speakers. After going through the experimentation to arrive at this setup I am very happy with this purchase.

I have a Vista x64 laptop. Although the design and features and even sound quality are good, the sound would abruptly stop after a few minutes of use. Unplugging and replugging into same or another USB port wouldn't work, neither would rebooting. Leaving the speakers unplugged overnight seemed to solve the problem, but the problem would recur within a few minutes of use the next day. After 2-3 days of this the speakers were returned.

I have had these speakers about two months and they have worked GREATconsistently from day one. I am running 64Bit Vista O.S on a Toshibanotebook. These speakers are the GREATEST!! I have a close friend who bought these when they first came out and he paid a hundred smackers for them. I bought them on his recommendation. Now, I have read all the naysayers' reviews and quite a few mention the lack of depth & tonequality and such.....come on now.... these are NOTEBOOK SPEAKERS people!If you wish to have all that "exceptional quality" go out and pop a few grand and pick up some Cerwin Vega Studio Speakers and I would suggest ahigh end tuner like Yamaha or Onkyo or such. Now, I would say, if you're not in a hurry, to drop in these in your cart and wait a few days and see if the price changes....I only paid 48.95 two months ago. Anyway, I am totally satisfied after at least 40 hours of playing them! BTW... for those you who are pretty much totally new to computers and wish to adjust the tone depth and such, you simply go to the Start Button, then click on the Control Panel button. On that screen you will see all the myriads of available junk your computer has on it. Look for the picture or Icon of a Speaker(s) and click on that. W/your speakers currently hooked up, you should see two or even three choices available with new Creative V20's already highlighted; simply click on on the Icon and a panel will open up allowing you to adjust the Treble, Base, and Volume etc.

I bought these speakers from Amazon a few weeks ago and was blown away! I have it hooked up to my Sony Playstation 3 console via TOSLink cable, and movies sound awesome especially with Blu-ray or DVD movies in DTS! PS3 Games sound great too! I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants a good home theater system but are on a budget.

This speaker system was wonderful for the price. I purchased it for my husband for Christmas and he loves it. Now mind you we are just ordinary people and just having a surround sound system is a bonus for us but for the more advanced sound people this system might be too novice. It is a great starter set and I would reccommend it to anyone. It was relatively easy to install and we did have to buy a cheap converter connection but it delivers great sound. We will probably have to buy some longer wires to get the two side speakers behind where we sit but that is expected.

Being a longtime user of Logitech products and having used The V20 notebook speakers I thought the V10's would be a good set of speakers for my laptop. But I was totally wrong! They didn't even sound as good as the built in speakers do. I was so displeased that I returned them the same day I received them.The $15.00 or so more that the V20 speakers cost is completely worth it if one wants any amount of bass.

I got what I was looking for.A speaker that has a great sound and is compact.The sound quality is really good and the design is great too.It runs on the laptop battery via USB.What i liked is the function panel that they have provided on top of the speaker.You can switch off the speaker when not in use thus saving battery.I have a Logitech headset and I trusted the quality of their products.This one is another good buy.I am happy.

I love everything about these except for 1 thing.I wish I could unplug the cable from the back of the speakers and hook in a different cable. This would help with giving me a little more length so that I could set my rear speakers up in a better place.

At first I thought the speakers had no dimension in the mid range. I was straining to find any of the harmonies in selected pieces of music....individual instruments were impossible to define...But after a substantial break-in period, (a few months), I'm much happier with them. These would be ok for a starter set, for anyone who isn't an overly discriminating audiophile, you can at least get a good thump from the powered bass for dancing, and be sure to use software that has an equalizer to maximize your sound quality.

You don't need to have a separate remote to enjoy 5.1 from your TV and other sources sound, use the TV remote to control all provided a variable volume setting is available from your TV brand, then hook all your components ie DVD and other sound source gadgets to your TV inputs, then enjoy the best THX certified sound reproduction device to human ears that can be found presently.Definitely a buy if you wanted the best tool to help you enjoy the best 5.1 experience.

This is really my first set of Logitech speakers, I have used Creative since I started using and building computers about 1994. That was when it was Cambridge, I think they lost some quality when Creative bought them. Any who I was never impressed with Logitech when I heard them in the store or someone who owned a set but a friend of mine bought a pair of these. I bought them mainly for one feature, the optical connection. Instead of having 3-4 wires going to my computer I have one. I must say Logitech got it right with these speakers. You really get quality and features. The sound is fantastic, you get the THX, digital audio, solid well made components from the speakers to the volume control unit. The stands for the surround speakers is a nice touch, no attaching them to the speakers you just spin them around. Hey sometimes its the little things.The sub is huge but I knew it was going to be. I am not counting it as a con but if you are short on space you need to take it into account because you need to keep it 3-4 ft away from your computer because of the magnet. ( Hard drives don't like magnets ) Cons? I don't have any.Volume increase or decrease is shown by a horizontal bar consisting of squares, changes occur in half square increments. I would rather have the volume done with numbers so I can control it more precisely and remember the volume by what number it is on. But that may just be me being a control freak I am not counting it as a con. Love the speakers, great deal and service with Amazon I highly reccomend them.

For the price it is a good buy. Sound quality is average and a vast improvement over the junk sent out with most computers. I am happy with this product and glad to endorse it. My computer is not my sound system, so for P.C. use this is perfect.

These are being returned right away. The sound quality is horrible. I bought them because they were one of the only PC speakers to feature a headset jack anymore. They're not worth it. As other reviewers have said, there is a constant very loud buzzing as soon as you turn them on, even when the volume knob is turned all the way down. I agree that the sound is flat and muffled. I've used my headset on all kinds of other devices and speakers and they have always sounded great, so I know it's not that.Now I have to try and find another pair of speakers that has a headset jack....

I was bit skeptic at first of some poor reviews claiming this to have poor sound - they must be SUPER picky or their sound card must be messed up.I just got these speakers and I'm VERY impressed. These sound better than Logitech's X-240 2.1 speakers -- which is made for desktops -- and these "laptop speakers" actually sound way better than those! The X-240 sounds so muffled compared to these. The V20 has very nice clarity and has two drives on each speaker for more depth. I never felt like I was listening to surround sound with the X-240, but I get that feeling with these.Now if you're more of a complete bass-obsessed listener, then these may not be for you (don't get me wrong, there is plenty of bass with these speakers considering its size). If you prefer more clarity and treble with good amount of bass, then you'll be happy with these like me.Compared to the cheap "Pinto" built-in speakers that come with many laptops, these speakers are like having a "Mercedes".Some say the the media buttons on the speakers are hard to press, but I think it feels just fine. If the buttons were more loose to press, it would feel much cheaper and you'll experience accidentally hitting it more easily. You can play/pause, stop, back/forward, mute, volume up/down from the speakers.Pros:- Plug 'n Play with Windows XP (you may have driver problems with Macs)- USB powered - No need for batteries!- Very nice travel case. Easy to store away!- Compact- Fold-out stand- Speakers are NOT hard wired together (so you don't even have to plug in the left speaker to listen - and it still sounds good even with one speaker.)- Media controls on one of the speakers.- Blue LED to indicate that is powered; it will turn orange if you hit the mute button.- Good surround sound- Good amount of bass (not too overpowering)Cons:- It outputs sound through USB. (you better have enough USB ports on your laptop or an USB hub) Unless there's such a thing as a USB-to-3.5mm adapter, you won't be able to connect this to your portable mp3 player. I thought I could at least use the left speaker with my mp3 player, but the plug that's connected to the left speaker is not the standard 3.5mm plug; it's much thinner. This isn't really a con, since its main purpose is for computers, but it's nice to have multiple purposes. Still, I'll take USB over having clutter of connecting an AC adapter or replacing batteries!RECOMMENDED!

I actually got these on sale AND with a Logitech rebate. They ended up costing me just under $200 new. Definitely worth the money I paid. This speaker system is the complete package - it has every hookup you could need, fabulous sound and an easy-to-use receiver.Initially I was running a stereo cable from my MacBook Pro to the receiver. It worked well - the 5.1 Pro Logic does a great job at simulating 5.1 sound. The overall experience was pretty good, but I was losing a little quality and volume because I was routing the sound through about 30 feet of cable to the receiver. I had that setup for a year. Then I learned that the headphone jack in the MBP also is an optical output (Mini Toslink). I decided to give it a try and ordered the toslink cables with a mini toslink connector, hooked it into my Z-5500's and POW! Unbelievable sound, without quality or volume loss, and true 5.1 digital. SWEET! I was surprised to learn that using the digital output disabled the hardware volume control on the macbook pro, requiring me to adjust the volume in the application or on the receiver, but this makes sense.I am now even more impressed with the quality of this system than I initially was, so much so that I had to jump on here and write a review. These speakers kick butt for the price...heck I think they are even better than some higher priced setups, simply because they are so dynamic.

I have been using this system for a litle over a month now. It has great sound and I have had no problems of any kind. It has very clear and crisp highs and lows. I highly recommend this as a computor speaker system! The price was reasonable and I feel it was well worth the price.

I bought these speakers to replace an aging set of Cambridge soundworks speakers. Overall I am very pleased with them - they are durable, look good, and the sound quality is exceptional for the price.Many of the negative reviews have complained about a buzzing noise - I have no idea what they are referring to. I have sensitive ears and hear all sorts of buzzing noises very few other people can, however I hear absolutely nothing with these speakers other than the music that is intended.

I bought this based on glowing reviews but really wanted something with bit of flexibility for 80% music / 20% TV and maybe a bit of PC gaming down the track. If your needs are similar to mine I would suggest spending your money elsewhere - or at the very least do not buy these without listening and comparing against even a mediocre stereo set up with an ipod dock.Sure the duff duff of the bass is neat but honestly it will wear pretty thin as there is very little midrange. It just sounds imbalanced. You can mess with the settings all you want - it just aint there.Bottom line is I now just really use it for the 5.1 on the TV. It is all about perspective - yep they are great in terms of PC speakers - relative to other PC speakers. Oh yeh - as I have read in some other reviews be prepared for the backlight LED to crap out after a few months as well. Annoying in that you will have to get up close to see what is selected - but not worth the frustration of bringing it back.

Great system. I would recomend it. However the subwoofer will cause metal to vibrate and add unplesant tones. It comes with a warning though to keep it at least 2 feet away from electronics and monitors. Should add anything influenced by strong magnetics. Do that and everything seems OK.Good reproduction of music even my sons stuff that he says is music. Games, you can hear the crickets and feel the explosions.

my logitech systems came with a missing bass nobi popped open the box anxiously waiting to set it upand i noticed the controller didn't look right so i turn it on try to turn the bass higher and feel that there isn't a nob in placedisappointment,but im having fun with these speakers GREAT product its a must buy

I bought these speakers as a cheaper alternative for a surround sound system for our Vizio HDTV. They work GREAT. I won't say they're the highest quality, but I'm completely satisfied. We watched a couple of movies with them and get the "theater" feeling we were looking for - the bass shook the house when we were watching the UFO crash in MIB. Like everyone else says - the cords are a bit short, but other than that the system works perfectly. We hooked up the system direclty to the back of our TV using the "green"(you'll know what i mean when you receive it) cord that was provided and adding our own red/white a/v cords to insert into our TV audio out section. With the "matrix" button pushed on the provided control panel it gives the 5:1 sound option even with just the red/white cords plugged in (which leaves one cord unplugged to the TV because the back of the bass box has 3 cords leaving it). There is one downside: We're unable to control the volume with the TV remote for some reason... it'll mute with the TV remote, but other than that we have to get up and physically turn the knob on the provided control box. This may be something that I just haven't figured out yet - not sure.

Very good speakers with nice surround sound. And bass is good; very good for a bedroom type environment. The wires are short, so i recommend buying longer ones if you plan on mounting them.

The demo for the X-540 at the store was awesome enough for me to give it a try. Compared to the $30 2.0 speaker set, the various 2.1 speakers, that weird strip thing containing 3 speakers, and the X-540, the X-540 sounded the strongest. There was one more expensive set to the right. Sound quality seemed equal.There were also 3 Bose sets to the left, but as they had their own music piped through, I summarily discounted them. Didn't seem fair to include, somehow...So why give the X-540 a try? The wired remote: It's got the power button, volume adjustment, bass adjustment (a BIG plus), and "matrix" effect button that allows 2 speaker sources (CDs) to be pumped on all speakers... Convenience is an understatement. Never mind they sounded good at the store!So I whipped out Satan's plastic pal, paid the $100, and lugged it home.Set up was easy and all the cables were provided. Always helpful, that...My sound card is a Creative Labs Fatal1ty Gamer.For reference point, I am replacing a three year old Logitech x-620 speaker set.To summarize the X-540:Good points:* The remote. I like having every conceivable control at my finger tips and not on a computer screen or attached to the subwoofer on the floor.* Sound from CDs or 5.1 enabled games is fantastic. The two speakers per module gets some of the credit here.* Turning down the bass on the remote doesn't hamper bass tones as badly as the x-620; or, rather, most of the tones can be heard without the wretched reverb shaking up the house like a blender.* The "Matrix" effect is quite acceptable. Thumbs up from me. It pipes the left/right sounds from the front to the rear systems, using a slight delay effect and others to make it sound "real" and encompassing. Hard to describe, but while it simply can't take an existing stereo soundtrack and make it 5 separate channels (no sound system can), the trickery used to mimic the effect is very good indeed.* I had no problems with cable length for the rear speakers (6' away with plenty of slack cable remaining). But YMMV; not all computer desks are the same.The not-so-good points:* With 'matrix' enabled, the bass setting needs to be increased slightly; decreased when disabled.The awful points:* For the price offered, why is the subwoofer unprotected? Their preceding models have even a basic grille for the subwoofer. The subwoofer is aimed directly toward the floor, but if you're renting, those neighbors are not going to be keen on listening to the heavy thumping!Definitely recommended. 8/10Keep in mind, I am not using these speakers above 50% (and at this level they sound very clear and crisp, even on older, digitally remastered CDs). I like the ability to hear and I've got neighbors who like quiet too. :) At the store, I did crank the puppies up to 80% and heard none of the issues some other commentators have mentioned. That's when I noticed people talking louder and thinking of me when I think of other people who crank the volume up to 100% to listen to speaker quality.So, that's my story.

I'm a composer, and need accurate sound reproduction of my recorded symphonic work. This is my second THX-rated PC speaker system. The prior one was an Altec Lansing 4.1 system. Compared to the Altec Lansing, the Logitech Z-5500 is just fine.I should mention that, even though Amazon.com indicated three to five weeks for delivery, I received the speakers in about a week and a half.

I bought the Logitech Z-5500 on a whim at a ridiculously low price based on past satisfaction with smaller, cheaper Logitech products. Just wanted better sound from my Philips LCD HD TV - which has very good video but lousy stereo audio - in my bedroom (18' x 12' with mediocre acoustics). To say I'm pleased is an understatement. I invested in a Monster Optical Fiber cable as an experiment (never used that technology with a cable box & TV before; only HDMI) which plays on cable programs & movies and a Monster Digital cable for DVD movies and CDs. The combination provides very, very good audio fidelity, separation, surround sound, range, clarity, depth, and impact. I'd guess they're producing about 70%-80% more sound I never realized I was missing on HD TV sound tracks, especially - believe it or not - on PBS programs like Nova, Nature, Frontline, Independent Lens, and of course, Soundstage. HBO and our HD music channels are better yet; even on old VH1 Classic songs that haven't been digitally re-mastered. I'm a little disappointed with the sub-woofer, which is surprising due to its large size, weight and magnet - but I also play it almost entirely at low volumes so the bass may be better if I crank up the amperage. Overall I'm ecstatic to get such great sound from such inexpensive speakers. They rival my far more costly and technically sophisticated 1000+ watt Samsung 5.1 system in my home theater room, and that's high praise indeed. I can't imagine getting more bang for your speaker buck, the remote/control center works very well and easily, and they look cool, too!
