Excellent!The speakers arived in a timely manner. These were replacements for the same speakers that were broken.The packaging was marginal but the speakers were not damaged in shipping due to vendor packaging.Thanks again,EdLogitech 970155-0403 V20 Notebook Speakers (Black)

Bought this after reading mixed reviews. It works fine with my Samsung (XP) netbook but I was frustrated when I tried to use it with my Asus and nothing happened. Only then did I read that Logitech does not build speakers that are compatible with Linux!

I love these speakers, I think they're incredible. One thing that I love especially is that the digital cables to connect the satellites to the sub woofer come pre-twisted. I remember an old set of 4.1s I had and I had to twist the cable ends myself, what a PITA.I would have given these a 5 star review if they only came with wall mounting hardware. The manual says "Use appropriate wall screws and posts to secure each speaker to your wall". Well what the hell is an "appropriate" wall screw and why don't these very expensive speakers come with some?

I am very pleased with these speakers for use in a small area, i.e., room, small apartment. They do buzz/screech at high volume, however, but I do not think this is a shortfall. I recommend them for anyone needing laptop speakers of good qualify.

This is a great little product. It has very nice sound and needs no additional power...just attach it to your laptop. The speakers are very compact and come in a very nice little travel case.I listen to a lot of music when I am away from my Desktop which has big speakers attached, and I find this little system quite satisfactory.

I use these with a Macbook Pro running Windows 7 in VMWare. Just plugged it in and works for both the Mac and the virtual machine. Great sound and much louder than the built-in speakers.Also very portable if you need to haul something around for presentation purposes or such.

Get a nice equalizer program like XFI from creative and you are good to go. The quality is superb and its durable. Only problem is sometimes the cords are too short. It depends where you want to wall mount it. Do it a corner.My big beef is durabilty.The last set I had did not have wall mounts and soon got ruined by wear and tear because the speakers had cloth as a grill.

I ordered the Logitech Z-5450 speaker system with high hopes. The package arrived promptly and I installed it as per the instructions. The instant I powered up the sub woofer smoke started to come out of the speaker and the unit smelled of electrical burn. I never got a note out of the system. I'm sending the whole thing back to Amazon and will write another review on how the return part of this transaction goes. Yuck! Logitech? I don't know what to make of their equipment. My one experience is not good.

I'm very happy with these speakers! My laptop audio jack was shot so decided to go with USB. Very good sound and can easily take them on the road along with the laptop. Small but powerful and good sound. Have to be careful not to play my nusic too loud in the motel room and disturb the neighbors. Great little semi-hard case to protect them traveling. easy to use - they were truly plug and play with XP.

In my opinion, you will not find a louder, clearer, or more complete setup for your PC in this price range...Even at $250 they are a steal. I lucked up and got mine from Amazon for $180 shipped one year ago and have looked back since. They are still running strong and sounding great. I use the Z5500 direct connection for my laptop and the Optical connection for my Ps3. They sound great even with the standard, 2-channel direct connection (alhtough it will simulate surround sound). However, the Z5500 really shine through the higher-quality optical connection via PS3...the sound is vivid and movies are a pleasure with this setup. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who wants more than the standard 2.1 setup. Great Speakers

This purchase was for a second set of 5500's, as I gave the first set to my son. My original assessment remains unchanged and follows...ProsDigital input, decoding & remoteConsSatellite stands are cheesyWoofer not "musical"Not sensitive enough (needs more gain).Additional ThoughtsBeing familiar with Logitech speakers, (I have two sets of 560's, and a set of 2200's) I bought the 5500's expecting to be blown away by the sheer volume and clarity. Sadly, this is not the case.First, they are connected to a USB audio system (M-audio's Sonica Theater) through what Logitech calls direct mode (analog). With all the mixer faders at maximum, the level (SPL) achieved is unremarkable. Another disapointment is the sloppy, uncontrolled sound coming from the woofer. I realize that the box is ported for efficiency and small size, but I've heard better from ported systems. In fact, it seems to me that the 560's produce a more controlled low end and sound better when reproducing music.Next, I used the coaxial digital input through the Sonica Theater and was pleased that the level came up dramatically, as did the clarity. Still, it seems as if there's more untapped power even with the volume maxed.Connecting the coaxial digital to a DVD player playing Pink Floyd's 1994 concert "Pulse", I was again left wanting more!Scottie! We need more drive!...The imaging seems adequate -- mid's and highs are there, but upper bass seems a bit thin. I won't dwell on the lows.To be fair, it's entirely possible that the 5500's would be a blast (literally) in games and movie tracks. But as to music (my purpose), I'm left wanting.An addition...I recently installed the 5500's in my living room to compare with a set of AR10 Pi's. I was shocked to hear how dead the Logitech's sounded in comparison. No real highs, poor detail, and horrible bass clarity.I realize the price point involved, and that considered, you get a fair deal for your money. Just be forewarned, these are not Hi-Fi speakers!

This is the 5.1 speaker set i was looking for.It is really really good. Best purchase for the Price. Sounds really good and clarity is also excellent even at full volume.Matrix mode is ultimate.If you want to buy a speaker for PC, Games, IPod, It would be the correct choice.cons: length of the wire of satellite speakers.

There is no better combination of audiophile sound quality with affordable pricing than the Z5500. It's the best deal you'll find in PC audio. Perhaps not the best speakers but perfect for an audiophile on a budget.

These speakers sound great but if you lose (or break) your remote control after the warranty period you are pretty much SCREWED.My remote control got lost in a move from one house to another house. Regardless of what you may think of my organizational skills the point here is the only way you can get a "replacement" remote control is to BUY A NEW Z-5500. That's right boys and girls, Logitech is not very logical or techie when it comes to irresponsible owners (such as myself) of the Z5500. They will NOT sell you a remote control separately. It comes "FREE" with the purchase of the Z5500 and that's the only way you're going to get another one from the Logitech company. I even spoke with a supervisor and he told me if you want another remote you need to buy the whole system. Huh??? WTF???NOW to be fair, if you buy the Logitech Harmony remote control for about 200 bucks (don't ask me the model number, I forgot, and there is no model number to be found on the Harmony -- I checked, sorry) IT WILL control the Z5500.Still, Logitech's customer service sucks!

I have finally stopped jamming my music to this booming system. I love how the surround sound is REAL and not VIRTUAL (or fake). There are outputs behind the control piece (orange-sub, green-fronts, black-rears) so each channel is actually carried out instead of remixing the sound to make it sound like surround. The amount of options on it allow you to customize sound pretty much to the T. I am able to drown out my roomies' music and i piss off people above and below me when I feel like showin out. Only bad thing is that the bass doesn't fully kick in until it is turned up pretty high. At low levels the bass doesn't knock like it should. But at 1010 watts under $250, it doesn't get too much better.So basically the pros:huge soundrelatively cheapsaves space (internal amp)remotecontrol of amount of surround sound, bass, panaroma, and presets as wellcontrol of center channel as well for optimum balancecons:bass doesn't hit hard when volume isnt almost at halfway uphard to move the subhard to move when placed in the box (55 pounds..I lift weights and found it somewhat a mission to move this thing when it's in the box)

This is a wonderful system for under $300. I was surprised to find that those little speakers could put out an intense listening experience. I have a great time listening to music, playing video games, and watching movies. I didn't realize that surround sound made a difference until I heard these.

The carrying case is hard-shelled - 10/5" x 7.5" x 2". Very nice, not cheap. Speakers are 6.5" tall, 3" wide and 1.5" deep. I found the cord to be plenty long; 36" cord between speakers, 22" cord from right speaker to USB port. The buttons do take getting used to - absolutely no tactile feedback. Maybe this is the biggest drawback of these speakers, but it only takes a day or two to get used to them. There's Play/Pause, Stop, Prev Track, Next Track, Vol Up, and Vol Down buttons - all work seamlessly with WinAmp & Win Media Player for tunes & movies. There's also a mute button that changes a little blue light to red when muted.I use these at work to listen to mp3's, ShoutCast and other streaming music. I love that I can plug them into my work computer and they instantly work without monkeying around with drivers or anything - keeps IS off my back. They rival a midrange set of desktop speakers. Boy can they crank the sound! You really gotta turn them up to a ridiculous level to get distortion. I'm very pleased at the performance given their size and the fact that they're powered via USB.As some of the other reviewers noted, they've got surprisingly heavy bass response. Even at a relatively low volume, they were vibrating around my desk. I used a little of that gummy-glue stuff to stick them down. I also used the equalizer in WinAmp to adjust them to my tastes and toned down the bass a little bit to let the midrange and highs get through. The weakest part of these speakers is the midrange, but even so I'm still very pleased. I consider myself about 30% audiophile - so unless you're really looking for top performance (in which case you shouldn't be shopping for USB powered speakers) consider these a gift from the Gods - especially at Amazon's price! I wouldn't pay BestBuy retail ($80) but at Amazon's price, it's a great deal!These suit my needs great, and I definitely recommend them if you want to watch movies or listen to tunes on your laptop.UPDATE: After using these for over a year now, I've come to appreciate their quality even more. I can listen to music at a moderate and enjoyable level, yet the sound stays localized somehow... I can have them turned up to where I can hear the music very well as I sit 18" away, but 10 feet away you can barely hear them. Of course, you can crank them and they can be heard quite well from a distance. If you've got speakers that don't afford you the ability to listen without bothering your coworkers around you, these might be your ticket.

I knew some of the higher end Logitechs sounded very descent but I must say that I am blown away with the quality of these. The sound is outstanding when connected to my PC desktop through 5.1 analog and Mac laptop through digital optical. My only complaint was that it was a bit of a pain mounting the rears on my existing speaker mounts. They way they mount seems to be a very unique way and it seems companies like Sanus had to make special stands to work with these. Nevertheless, I was able to make my solution of mounting them on my stands and now they work fine. For the price you can't beat the sound for a PC surround sound system.

I purchased these speakers to replace the original ones that came with my desktop computer. As I use them primarily for listening to free Internet music, I wasn't willing to spend too much on them. I had done my research and decided that the Logitech X-140 2.0 speakers would work best for me as far as product performance for the price.I am very pleased with my purchase - good speakers for the value. The sound with Internet music is good. The sound with CD's is excellent - crisp and clear no matter how loud you turn them up. The only thing I would change about them is the red "on" light. It would have been nice if Logitech had used a different color such as blue.

I just purchased this and wow it's louder than I had expected. It's not only loud but it has pretty good bass coming from the sub. I did not expect much bass from a tiny 5" low frequency driver but I guess the wood ported sub enclosure really helps the tiny bass driver put out strong bass. The satellites aren't that bad either. I thought they would be really tinny because of the small drivers but they do put out good midrange. High frequencies are clear too.One of the cool features of this system is that the center channel can be mounted right ontop of your LCD monitor. It basically clips over the top edge. It has rubber cushions to protect your LCD and absorb vibrations. Keep in mind that the center channel can tilt but the other 4 sats are fixed and cannot be tilted. The sats could be mounted on the wall since the mounting plate rotates and it has a hole for a screw.This system works only with 5.1 analog computer setups. It does not support digital optical or coaxial inputs. The system supports matrix mode which works with 2ch sources and feeds all speakers with sound. The wired remote has a volume and sub level adjustment knob and also a headphone jack and Matrix mode button. The headphone jack works even without powering on the speaker system.This is a really great buy, so much speaker for so little money.

The speakersare CRAP! I owned 2 sets of them (i.e., Logitech replaced the setonce, and argued for hours). I am an electrical engineer and beganrealizing the problem with their circuitry design instantly when anelectronic device shuts off on the same circuit as the speakers. Theexcuse given was that the speakers were supposed to be on a differentcircuit in the house. However, my current home theater system is onthe same circuit and does not POP, like the Z-5500's do. DO NOTPURCHASE THE Z-5500's because, bottom line, you will be upset whenyou turn on or off the lights in your house, turn off your tv, etc.THE SPEAKERS POP...this is not an isolated case because I swappedspeakers, subwoofers, switched circuits, and even contacted two of myfriends who owned the same sets (and their frustrations was alsoexpressed). If you purchase these and are upset, you won't getanywhere with customer service unless you explain the technicalaspects (which the customer service agents do not understand at all). You will need to ask for your money back, and they will say they willrefund shipping up to $25, but fail to mention that it is youroriginal company's shipping costs, not the $40 to ship them back toLogitech. Remember, DO NOT BUY THE LOGITECH Z-5500'S!I will say to get a HTIB system from Yamaha for the price. I honestly will recommend Sony over these because of the persistent problems presented by them. In addition, this model was revised, and even the revised version did not fix said problem. I paid $350 for my speaker set and receiver, and it has more functionality with no problems. There are plenty of HTIB systems that would not even get close to this terrible build quality.With all this negativity, there were positives: The display is small and detailed, the sub is big, speakers are easily wall-mountable, and the night mode properly quiets the bass at night-time.With those positives, the overall negatives: Popping (when a source's audio goes on and off...including AIM sounds), Popping (when electronics are turned on or off on the same circuit...including lights), Too boomy bass (subwoofer will overpower the system at high volume levels), Too light of bass (subwoofer is underpowered at lower volume levels), Too few inputs compared to a HTIB or normal Receiver, and the Subwoofer requires 5 feet of separation from all other electronics along with contributing large amounts of heat!I spent time to write this in order to give a full perspective on the quality. I loved the speakers for the first 3 months, but finally got annoyed at the overall quality and chose to post the problems here. Hope this helps.

I'm a MAC user who works in FinalCutPro, Logic Studio, Soundtrack and all the freeby recording software bundles included with my recording interface devices. I use V10s off site with my MacBook and PowerBook and I'm very happy with them. USB speakers are primarily used for personal monitoring, not for a large room filling power drive that you would use an AC driven sound system for. But these are great (for what they are) and fill my 9x12 office recording and production space with rich sound. An important test of a small USB speaker system is to try out various EQ settings included with software apps. My V10s hold the bass boost, along with all the other EQ settings quite well. I'm including a photo to show the size in prospective.

I like to listen, not talk.I'm writing this to anybody who is lucky enough to come across these speakers, and this review.I've put them to the test, believe me, for 4 years during college.Here's some quick Q&ADoes it have crystal clarity? Yup.Will it work with a TV? It will work with just about anything.How long will they last? Running strong still after 4 yrs...Is it a good investment? Paid 200 4 years ago... 50% increase in price?Can I shake the walls? No problemShould you worry about cops while playing music during a party? YesWould these be good in my living room? That's what I use em' for.Do they look OK? They look sick.Should I buy these for a small room? Your neighbors might hate you.I don't really care if you take my advice, I felt compelled to say something though...

hooked it up to my Tv and works great. only problem is that its a little older so I don't think it has a program or whatever for true HD surround sound from certain blu rays so it uses pro logic which is ok.

i bought my system from walmart for the same price and i really didnt think it was going to be overwhelming and it wasnt but.... its perfect for someone who wants to listen to their music on their computer or ipod and have great bass and another good application for it is gaming, i play a few games and it does sound pretty good, one thing that really is a downside is that you need a sound card with surround sound capabilities and i think most motherboards come with integrated surround sound audio on them but im using my laptop so i can only use the sub and two channels. One thing that i really dont like about the sub is that it bottoms out at about 75% volume with bass all the way up when they say that it doesnt, but you can buy a tang band 5 inch sub and put in there that is made for high excursion and it will rock your roomso yeah if you have the money buy it but if you have a bit more get the logitech z-4 or somethin

these speakers have friggin awesome sound quality and bass, but the wires are way too short to have them mounted behind you. also the remote is cool, but connected to system itsself. one great thing it does have a "matrix" thing that lets you convert a regular 2.0 jack into the 5.2 surround sound awesomeness.

This system is very good for any computer set-up, and can even function for a small apartment home theater. The fact that the 4 satellite speakers can all be easy wall mounted makes it even more attractive. Unfortunately, my LCD TV is an odd shape on top which makes the center channel's clip useless. The quality of the sound is great, and the bass is very deep and convincing. The matrix mode is better than most I've heard, and although it may not be official Prologic II, it works the same way and does a good job on ProLogic tracks. The cons are slightly nitpicky, but it kept this from a 5 star rating. The remote is wired, which can be very annoying at times when the volume changes abruptly in the source and you have to get up to lower the speakers. Also, you cannot turn down the subwoofer individually. There is a bass dial, but it also turns down the bass in the other speakers. This is a problem when people live in the floor below, because the sub does carry through.In case anyone was interested in using this as a home theater, I bought this in addition to a Creative SoundBlaster Extigy, which can be found for very cheap on the normal auction sites, and can decode Dolby Digital standalone (without a computer) from optical or coaxial SPDIF and output the three minijacks that these speakers require for their signal. So far, that solution has worked great and is the cheapest I could find for true surround sound.

I needed a pair of speakers to go with my laptop (iBook G4) and I didn't want the hassle of an extra AC adapter, and these speakers fit the bill. Some of my friends have cute portable speakers that are very small, but the sound suffers accordingly (especially when they obliviously push them far beyond their capabilities). These may be larger than some portable speaker sets, but they sound great and the carrying case is super handy. My major beef with these speakers, though is the cabinet design. Certain resonant low-end frequencies cause the speakers to buzz and walk across my desk. It's annoying on two levels.Somewhat related: There's something funky with Mac's DVD Player app: Loud sounds in movies will cause the sound level to drop drastically and then gradually come back to the set level. I thought using the USB output might mitigate the problem, but this is the case whether I'm using the speaker output or the USB port. FWIW.

This speaker system has all the bells and whistles that a person will ever need. It is easy to set up and will kick your musicl ass everytime you turn it on. It is worth evry penny that you pay for it and then some.

I bought this to replace another cheap surround sound speaker set that I bought and returned because I didn't like the sound. With this one I feel I got what I paid for which is a system that is good for a small room or bedroom. The subwoofer doesn't carry too much of a punch but it's better than the system I returned and decent enough to make my movies and games more enjoyable.

I was desperately in need of upgrading my old computer speakers and I'm glad I chose the Logitech x-140's. These speakers are great. They are sturdy, look attractive and the sound is very good. I'm not exactly what you would call an audiophile, but I think my ear is pretty sensitive. My jazz, classical and rock mp3's come out sounding full and true. Bass is nice and deep. These speakers are a tremendous value. My only minor quible is the orange LED on light. It's a bit too bright and a little distracting. Otherwise they are perfect for me. I've only had great experiences with Logitch products and highly recommend these.

Well, logitech is a very good company. But these speakers don't deliver te quality i am looking for. They look "Old". The sound is not that great. Think of it like this:-You are playing a movie in your room. You want the great, loud sound, but when you turn up the volume you get an unclear sound, kind of like in the old TV's.Not a good 5.1! Go for the G51, they will last longer and the quality is great!

Logitech 970223-0403 X-540 5.1 Speaker System (Black)Speakers are reasonably compact, lightweight and deliver good quality surround sound with good separation. Front center speaker sits right on top of flat screen monitor, subwoofer under the desk and the 4 speakers can be positioned on shelves or easily hung on nails or screws on the wall. I really like the handy desktop panel that controls overall volume, subwoofer volume, etc. It's small and very convenient for adjusting sound for different types of audio.

These speakers provide the high quality sound that I need. Most computer speakers don't produce adequate bass and treble to make the sound balanced but these definitely do! I love these speakers. I have them set up in the office at the back of the house and could use them as the sound system at a party throughout the house because they are powerful enough. I'm really pleased and highly recommend them for whatever application that requires excellent acoustics.

While I love my intel Macbook, let's get one thing straight; the default speakers suck. That's fine, since they're altogether hidden anyways and at least aren't a laughable eyesore like on other laptops. At any rate, should you find yourself with a new intel Macbook, you should definitely consider pickup up a 3rd party speaker solution.Pros:- These speakers don't kid around. They can reach nearly room-filling volume levels, practically to the point of fault (explained later.)- The included carrying case is actually pretty sturdy and well compartmentalized. This makes transport of the speakers 100% easier and nicer looking, if you have the space for them in your laptop bag.- Ease of use. All I had to do was plug them in and go to "System Preferences" under the "Sound" options, and selected "Logitech USB sound device" as my output source. Sounds complicated, but really, in practice it's easy. No drivers or installation disc to mess with.- Sound output superior to default laptop speakers (not saying much; this is easily achieved by two cans on a string.)- When you push the built-in "mute" button, the blue light turns red. Not a big deal, but it's a cool touch.Cons:- The biggest drawback is in the design of the cord implementation. These speakers favor laptops with USB ports on the *right* side. Don't get me wrong, they had the right idea with keeping the cord lengths short as a way to reduce cable entanglement, it's just that on the intel Macbook the USB ports are on the *left* side of the keyboard. The Superdrive takes up residence on the right side, and the USB cord for the V20's is only about 18 inches in length. This leaves ZERO slack for snaking the cable behind your LCD monitor. This could've been fixed by making the USB cable modular/interchangeable as a USB-miniUSB cable, with ports on both speakers.- The built-in buttons on the top of the right speaker are confusing from a design standpoint. They *look* inviting to the touch, but your fingers will be sorely disappointed by the total lack of depressible play. They simply hold their ground against your fingers, and are non-intuitively pressure-activated. Also, at least for Mac OS X Tiger, most of these buttons do *nothing* whatsoever, with the exception of mute and the volume buttons.- The bass output by default is a little too much. These speakers can be too loud for their own good. While watching movies on Quicktime, the bass clips at medium or higher volume settings. iTunes same deal, but tweaking the EQ is a decent fix.All in all, a good set of speakers, but macbook users should perhaps look into other avenues or try before you buy.-

I have a Mac, in the instructions it said due to the fact I do not have the correct ports I would have to matrix the sounds to hear it in "surround". I didn't work the rear right and left speakers work but sound like your listening to FM radio in a tunnel! Good speakers for PC but not recommended to MAC users!

I have had this system for about 2 months now. I have been extremely impressed with it. I originally had it on my computer alone- but I was so pleased I installed the system in my living room and I am using it as my main surround sound system. I have all of the speakers mounted in the wall and the sub and controller in the corner of the room.Helpful note: The controller cannot be moved seperatly of the sub- they are connected via an approx. 6 ft cable.Here's how I have hooked everything up:DISH DVR Reciever: Digital OpticalDVD: Digital CoaxPC: Direct (3 3.5mm stereo plugs)TV out(for those rare occasions): iPod 3.5mm connection on sideAs you can see, this is a very versatile system and the sound quality is incredible. The remote also works well. I don't even have to point it at the controller, I guess it bounces off the walls well enough! (I will try to add pics of my speakers mounted on the wall near the TV)

The sound that these speakers put out is great for the cost. There is a little mud when you go full volume, but overall should work for what you need.

to be honest, i have never used any speakers this awesome. I used the 2.1 speaker, and i switch over to this one. Receive it a few days ago and i am still testing it right now, but all the equipments are well designed and the sound quality is very good. If it could have a line-in for my Mp3, it would be supper best, but i don't need it anyway. recommend this product for everyone who are seeking cheap and good sound quality. Although it is not the best one out there, but for the money it is very good for 80 bucks total. Good product amazon.com. you have the cheapest price and everything i buy so far works, i look forward to buy more from amazon, (if everything works like this)

the sound through these speaker was to my expectation and i especially liked the matrix control which enable you to play ordinary mp3 as hd file format, with that said i would highly recommend this speaker system

I have no prior reviewing experiences. Of anything. Yet, Amazon in their divine internet wisdom has emailed me to review this Logitech stuff I bought. Well, well, hold your empty goblets at the ready, for my review is about to spill forth. And I am wordy loon, so better make that a big gulp goblet.I paid 244 buckaroos for this set up. So that has to be considered. Somehow. I am not sure how but maybe you can figure it out.Lets see. It is exaclty what it says it is. It was easy to put together and start using. I would've liked slightly longer cords for the rear speakers so I could run them around the entire room and have people either trip on them or duck their heads from being garrotted, but, I can't have everything.I managed to drop one speaker and the face plate thingy fell off. I almost cried. But it went right back on, no damage done. No tears wasted.The highs are high. And there. You don't have to strain to hear them. I got no problems with the highs.The lows are really there. Like the lows you don't notice until some other distracting sound is gone like a nagging loved one complaining about how much you spent on a set of speakers just to play games.Also, if one was to turn up the bass, so as to say, test how loud they get, one could almost drown out the badgering of said person but not really. Maybe a jumbo jet could do that. But these things get loud enough that I feel very concerned about my neighbor who shares a common wall with me. So I don't turn it up past halfway much.However, it lacks what I want to call 'punch'. Yeah yeah, it's loud and stuff and has a decent range from what I can tell with my neophyte experience with speakers. But, it just doesn't have that kick to it. It's almost all a nice low rumble or a deep rumble or whatever. Which might not be the basses problem it all. And have more to do with my next part of my wonderful review you have been enjoying so far. And remember, I am doing this review for free, and for the kids. So, don't hate me. Hate the review. Or uh, something like that.Also, the bass box is large. I use it as a coffe table.THe mid range is not there. There is no equalizer or settings to change the mid range. Maybe I am too picky but I expected to be blasted out of my chair at full volume. Instead, I just had my ears hurt a little and I think my hearts rythmn reset. But no just rolling on the floor screaming and ducking for cover from the sounds of battle.I believe this might happen to be because only the center speaker is doing the mid range? I have no idea. I just thought I noticed that when the center speaker is not being over powered by the rears and stuff, that the mid range starts to show up better. But is still way too quiet.It worked with everything I plugged into it. My computer, my craptastic Zen player, my xbox360, and my aging vcr.I haven't used the remote, NAY, I haven't even put the batteries in it. So, I will not comment on this other than to say it exists.I do have another issue at hand with this fearsome foe. The lack of fine tuning. I wish it had some simple equalizer or some such.The rest of my disappointments lie with me not having any idea what 5.1 was used with and where and when or how. When I watch a movie in 5.1, the rear speakers rarely seem to be used. So, maybe I got it set up wrong. Somdeay I will figure out all this tech stuff or not.Anyway, for 244 bucks I expect quality, or well, whatever. I don't care anymore. I have games to play.bahbaye.

i aint had this kind of power since i returned from germany in 88, w/ a Yamaha M-80, for those that know, you know what i mean, for those that dont, let me put it this way.....big block, 4 barrell, big cam & headers...w/a 4 speed, need i say more ?....this thing leaves a 400 foot posi-track black mark in my ears..power to spare...awesome.really tho, i blew the 1st one, logi tech replaced it,literaly ripped the sub from over heating, i gave it it's own zip code..i.e...own recepticle, away from everything and a blower (fan), fan (also cools the control panel, one can feel the heat difference) over the louvers...i jamm hard and for the most part continously, this thing is tuff, ive worked my way up from the cheapest logi tech 5.1 at wall mart..i know right, ...i live way out in the country, when i jamm, its like a beacon in the night for all to hear miles away...i kid you not, the stop sign is 2 miles away, one can hear my harley or my Z5500 (there's a comparison for ya)from there at mid-night..for real.i jamm off the laptop for the most part or via s-cable to TV w/ Phillips DivX DVD player which will play anything, w/ Nero ultra 7, or DivX pro,w/ frost wire type downloads, music, music videos, or regular movies.. all are awesome, i can play anything..LOUDLY..CONTINOUSLY...works great when i plugged my mp3 or i-pod up to it too.did i say it was awesome?

Such a steal at this price, the speakers are great quality and provide great sound. Very easy to set up a great buy for college students looking fro great sound for gaming, movies, and music.
