I'm using this system for my home theater setup and it has more than enough inputs for what I currently need. The speakers and the receiver are all very small and discreet making them easy to blend into the living room.The sound is very good and you would have to go to speakers in the $1000+ range for better clarity and dynamic range. The wireless rears are really convenient and I've had no problems with them so far.One annoying this is that the status light(red on standby and blue when on) is very big and bright making is somewhat intrusive in a home theater setup. To get around it we've had to place the light behind a pillar in the TV stand.Overall I'm really satisfied with the system, definitely the best bang for the buck and a much better alternative to those home theater in a box type offering.

I usually just listen to music with these speakers and it sounds fabulous, the subwoofer makes my chair vibrate. Its great. I just recently started F.E.A.R, a FPS, and let me tell you I can tell where the footsteps are coming from, i know where phones are ringing, it really is like a totally new experience. I highly recommend this product, cheap and good.

These speakers really kick-it when you want the volume loud, but there is one thing I don't like: You cannot turn the bass all the way off. I live in an apartment, and if I want to listen to music at night I can't turn it up very loud because the bass is louder than the speakers at low volumes. There is a nob on the bass unit, but it will not turn it off completely. I have messed with the sound equalizer and brought the bass down somewhat, but it's just not the same. I do have to say that I would definately buy these at this price though. There is a lot of speaker here...

Having just bought this speaker system, I wanted to chime in with a review. I am using a Creative Audigy Platinum 2 series sound card, and using the fiber optic out to connect to the speakers.In a word, movies sound AWESOME. Games sound AWESOME. For these applications I fully and wholeheartedly recommend these speakers. However, if your main use for these speakers is listening to music, I would recommend something else. These speakers really do not produce a natural sound for music. I have tried tweaking the setting to the point of frustration, but to no avail. The midrange is almost non-existant. The bass is either not there or overpowering. Yes, yes, as I said, I have messed with ALL the settings ad nauseum (including adjusting the sub volume). In general, the "stereo" setting produces a very weak sound for music. The "stereo x 2" setting is a little better, but still suffers from the problems I mentioned. The "5.1 music" setting is hopeless.I am using the speakers in a fairly large room, so perhaps that is part of the problem, but I doubt it. As I said, movies and games still sound awesome.Well, overall, I do not regret shelling out the cash for these speakers. But caveat emptor - You may be better of with a good 2.1 speaker system if you mainly want speakers for listening to music.

OK, there may be much better notebook speakers out there soundwise, but they are indeed costly. Besides, when I bought Logitechs, they had a promotional discount that made them even better value than they already are. And there is also their small size and smart case, which allows carrying the speakers in my notebook backpack without sacrificing much space.

Excellent speakers, see the other reviews.but... BEWARE! DO NOT TRY TO UNSCREW THE SATELLITE STANDS FROM THE SPEAKERS. There is a small nut inside the speaker that comes loose if you take the screw out. Then you can no longer screw the stand back onto the speaker. And you have a loose nut rolling around inside the speaker.This happened to me. I removed the stand thinking it might be easier to mount the stand onto the wall first. If you do accidentaly do this, there is some hope though. Take off the speaker's grill and remove the rummer grommets (where the grill would "plug" into) using some pliers. You will see 4 screws under the grommets. Remove all 4. You can then pry the speaker open (it will require some force, as there is some kind of glue holding the two halves together). Be careful and don't use a screwdriver if you dont want to mess up the paint job. I just used my hands. Took me about 2 minutes of wiggling to get the thing apart. After that, I found the nut rolling around in the speaker and was able to screw the stand back into the casing.I hope this review saves somebody from making the same mistake I did, or helps somebody fix their speaker stands.Bad speaker stand design, Logitech. Great speakers otherwise.

I bought this huge Logitech Z5500 speaker, replacing Creative Inspire T5400. I use this with Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS. I use this mainly for ipod songs and DVD movies. The sound is great. The 10" sub has a lot of power, bigger than any other speakers in the range. You could expect this is comparable to some budget audiophile systems, but at a much cheaper price.One drawback is that, it is very sensitive to power and interference. You should make sure you got a clean AC power separated from rails your fridge or other appliances using.One more thing, you should try to place it at different positions to see how it could sound better.Pros:- REALLY got a subwoofer!- Great sound at good price- Loud- Nice control panel- Long speaker cables, can be replaced with your choice.Cons:- Too sensitive to power and interference. If this is the case at your room, you could not solve it cheap or easy. (That's why I give 3 stars)- The sub is too powerful that you must get a surge protector, and keep your computer equipment away from magnetic field it creates.

I just bought these speakers because I was sick of having to carry around my old clunky, desktop pc speakers every time I travelled between college and home. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the v20's because they are small, come in a great carrying case, are very easy to use and save lots of space on your desk (just plug the cord into a usb port). They can go pretty decently loud and clip a little bit when they go TOO high, but its perfect for every day use. I highly recommend these speakers for any other college kids out there looking for a decent pair of portable speakers.

I bought this speakers 2 weeks ago. I like this one because it's powerful even if it has just passive small subwoofer. That's incredible. The bass sound is pretty good and the treble sound is not too sharp. I used to have speaker system with amplifier and stationary speakers and a big active subwoofer because I like to listen to musics. I think this speakers is quite great for listening your favourite songs. If your room is not too big, this speakers is efficient.

I am disappointed in this product.I was suppose to write to you from the weekend.My two rear speakers just stop working, and also myremote control. I have replace the batteries, but stilldoes not work.I don't have any other rear speakers to try on the system.Pleasy me what to do.Thank youEpiphane Flavius

I could be considered an audiophile or nut. My home system cost about $8,000 and my car about $6,000. For the money, size, easy of use...these little speakers are really quite good. My only suggestion would be to back off the bass around 125Hz. I am sure they are using some internal EQ to artificially boost the bass but this gives the speakers a boomy/fake mid-bass.

I am using this system instead of component audio to do with my new hi def TV. i can't believe the quality of sound that comes out. I would have paid 3x what this system cost to buy it in pieces and the sound would be roughly the same.I would recommend these for whatever use you have. They rock. Literally.

Very nice speaker set.Pros: great sound for the price and size speaker wire included easy setup remote and control panel nice looksCons: The sub is not magnetically shielded. Make sure you have room for it away from your computer Knob on the control panel is not smooth so I use the remoteI highly recommend this system. I looked at the Klipsch but they apparently have some defect. Also, I considered this set with the wireless rear speakers, but word is the range is short and interference is an issue.

Just received the speakers and they have easy set up and sound great. I'm running them from a Dell Inspiron 6400. I liked their sound without any adjustments. So far I've listened to an online radio station. But need to test movies, and audio CDs as well.

For the price these speakers are unbeatable. They have great bass and great sound, Perfect for movies, games, and music. As long as you have the sound card able to support this system you will be satisfied. I have a laptop and with the adapter that comes in the box and a simple 6$ purchase from radio shack to connect my laptop to the adapter i could't be happier.Highly Recommended!

Just got these speakers from Amazon. Mannnn, gotta tell that the speakers are worth 30 odd bucks :)The bass makes ur heart beat and quality of music is very good. Overall the speakers rock for the prize...Very glad I bought these ...

These speakers pump! They sound great and can be used for almost anything since they accept multiple input sources. The subwoofer is HUGE though. Make sure you have space for it.

This is the set of speakers that you need for gaming and music. The first time I played a game with them I couldn't believe it. The subwoofer is huge and really produces. You can't go wrong with these, just make sure you have room for everything.

I could not be happier with these speakers!!Crisp sound,5.1 audio and under $60.Nothing else in its price range can compete,even at 2x its price range.I like it so much I purchase additional sets for each pc I own (3 in total)Go to a local compusa(where they are more expensive) and listen to them and you will see what I am talking aboutI HIGHLY reccomend

Good quality speakers and subwoofer for the price. I bought them to replace Creative's equivalent, and these are way better. I like the headphone jack and volume incorperated in the right speaker.

I have this set of speakers for 6 months. It's really powerful and perfect.It has several input jacks. I've been using it with a DVD player through a coaxial cable and also with my laptop through its prepared links. The subwoofer is really huge and powerful. I love it so much. Buy and enjoy!!

these are some unbelievable speakers. for any more sound than you can get pounding out of the 10 inch sub you would probably have to hit up a concert. i can get them raddling the doornobs in my house at about 50 percent power... very exciting. i was so excited to get somthing that could really blow me away and logitec deffinately did it. for this price and how fast they were shipped you would have to be stupid to pass them up.

I have this speaker system in my bed room, matched with a Sharp LCD 26" TV and an OPPO DV-970HD DVD player. Using 6-channel direct connection from the OPPO player to this system, the sound quality is just great. The OPPO plays DVD, CD, Super audio CD and DVD-Audio, and no matter what format the player and speaker combination never failed me. Even at small volume for late night listening the speaker still performs with clarity and excellent sound stage.

I have a other speaker system that i got to connect but i'm just tryig to make sure this one can, before i spend the money. and also if it does connect will i be able to receive all 505 watts?

Have had this system for a week now and it performs very well. While it is plug-and-play out of the box (a very LARGE box - 27 Kg) the number of possible settings makes you just want to fiddle with things. When combined with a high-end sound card like Creative's Audigy 4 Pro, you need to decide which system provides the effects - the card or the Z-5500. If you don't, the sound will get very bad, very fast and tweaking gets extremely difficult.The reviews of "shaking things off of shelves and walls" are a little far fetched (or indicative of pervasive poor building construction). The system is capable of extreme volumes and retains clarity - even sounds better - at higher volumes. However, the earth shaking must be highly dependent on the room acoustics as I have yet to rattle anything off the wall or shelves (and YES, I have cranked it to the max until my vision became blurred).The tuned-port sub woofer sounds muddy at lower volumes unless I tweak the settings and it is getting better as it breaks in. Again, I chalk most of this up to my room acoustics albeit tuned-ports are notoriously "muddy" when compared to acoustic suspension speakers at lower volumes. The sub is incredible at medium to higher volumes - especially with movies in Dolby DTS.The satellites are very good on their own - they lack any bass capability but the mid-range and treble are crisp and clear at all volume levels.Overall - no regrets. I would recommend this system for someone looking for an alternative to an AV/amplifier home theater sound system or a very high-end PC sound system.You should have some advanced knowledge of how to configure the sound settings of both your computer (or other sources) and these speakers to be completely amazed by their capability - if you don't know what a TOSLINK cable is for, you need to study a bit before you need these.

These speakers are great for any home theatre. you just have to buy some extra stuff but its worth it. I had to buy monster cables for my DVD player to get better quality sound which was amazing and the middle speaker hinge is loose and is not as sturdy as the other ones, i had trouble with it and eventually the swivel holster broke after the 2nd day but it was not a problem i didnt really need to mount it to a wall anywayz. The others were kind of hard to mount to the wall. The speakers ovarall and sound are amazing. The remote is not that great but rarely use it. also if u wanna hook up ur IPOD or CD player u will need to buy the 3 head stereo converter thing from radio shack cuz just stickin one into ur ipod dont work. sound only comes out through 1 or 2 speakers but to make all 5 work have to buy those 3 head thign from radio shack forgot what they are called, but ovarall its amazing

These logitech are amazing, I bought mine this year and its totaly great. its the best system for you money. Oh and there is a killer subwoofer you wont regret it, its crystal clear with earth shaking bass for music,games etc.ps turn up linkin park, invite some friends and you've got yourself one big party. GO BUY IT NOW

I wasn't happy with my Sony Vaio's internal speakers and was looking for small notebook speakers. These fit the bill perfectly. Easy to setup. Controls are simple to use. I'm not a sound guru but I think these will work fine for most people.

At first I was a little skeptical about buying these. With shipping and everything it came to about $260. Since I'm only 16, that's a lot of money. Even though I'm young, I've always enjoyed heavy bass.If you're like me, this is for you. The 188-watt sub pounds out the perfect amount of bass. I don't have any complaints with this system to far - I've had it for about 2 weeks now. If you tweek the settings, you get MORE than enough bass.Overall, 5/5No complaints

One of the best Home entertainment systems you can get. 1010 Watts and simple to hook up and install. Great for Halo 2 and and surround sound movies! The bass on music that you listen to is GREAT! It's more than enough for an apartment or home!!

Strengths: Clear sound, sufficient bass, as loud as you would want for a medium sized room.Weaknesses: Wires are a bit short for me. They will grace around your monitor, but don't expect to spread them out more than 4 feet.Bought these speakers since some Altec Lansings I wanted for under $30 were sold out. I was skeptical of these. To my pleasant surprise these sound better than my Aiwa stereo I had plugged into my computer, granted it was an Aiwa. The sound is crisp, clear and the range is great. More than adequate for pumping out some huge sounds in a medium sized room. The bass is perfect and not over powering unlike some reviews on other sites have said. You can't control the bass externally, but just adjust the bass in the music player you use if you think it is too much (too much?).

I picked these up a while ago (about 5 months) and at reasonable volume levels this system hasn't let me down. The sound quality is still as superb as when it came out of the box. I know many of you are sceptical about picking up a nice set of speakers for under $100, but take it from me, this set is a perfect example of how it is entirely possible. As long as you have a pc with a good sound card and all the speaker channels being controlled separately, with 5.1 channel functionality. Also, to many, 70watts may not seem like much at all(i thought that at first as well) you will be amazed at the sound quality of these speakers. its true that these wont pump out the same sound quality as higher end systems when put on max, however they are great for any kind of music, movie or game. Needless to say this system looks great and blends in well with black gray or white pc's. Last and for some possibly most important, the included subwoofer uses the bandpass system which makes bass more refined, crisp and clear from extremely low frequencies to the medium low's, the 25watt sub definately does its job well and the sattelites produce some of the cleanest, crisp high and medium frequencies. They're also wall mountable, great for clearing a bit of desk/entertainment room clutter. If your just upgrading a 2 channel speaker set(which sound very hollow and badly designed compared to these) this is a great product at a great value.Overall, I give this system 5 stars1 for good looks1 for valuefinally 3 for impressive sound quality
