These Logitech speakers work GREAT!! They look much better than the picture online shows also, I was very pleased with all the features of this speaker set. The carrying case is also very nice, it comes in a hard type of black material which is like a combonation of silk and velvet and inside these speakers are housed. Theses speakers instantly hook up with no problems, there is only one adapter that it comes with and you DON'T have to plug this to a wall outlet.The adapter plugs right into the port on your notebook and will work with any notebook computer that you own. There is a cool blue light on the top of the speakers when they are on and as soon as you plug it in you will see this light. If the light is red that means that it is on mute and you can adjust it from the top of the speaker but most likely when you plug yours in it will be automatically blue. You have a play, stop, mute, fast foward, rewind button and speaker volume adjustment on the top of the main speaker that plugs into the adapter. Only one speaker plugs into the adapter, the other speaker just goes right into the side of the other speaker. There is a port on the speaker for you to plug the other one in.. I had this plugged and playing in less than a minte with no problems at all, a child can hook it up.The volume range is excellent and can filll a large room full of loud clear music. No, this speaker set will not fill your whole house full of blasting music but it will do about the maximum of what your desktop can perform as far as sound. I have a Dell desktop which has the side speaker set manufactured from Dell and I consider it very loud, my neighbors can definitely here the music turned up 70%-100% of the way on that one. With these speakers the sound is about the same and can fill a large room full of loud clear music.All of that being said I think these speakers are of pretty good value, the price is a little steep for these speakers because it will not feel your entire home full of blasting loud music but it does feel a large room and I think it is quite loud. I don't know if there are any speakers that can perform louder than these Logitech speakers because they are pretty loud... but I do think that these would be perfect for anyone looking for louder and clearer speakers to perform like a desktop and MUCH better than notebook speakers in general.These speakers also have a nice weight to them, in the picture you can't see exactly the detail and weight of these speakers, they are not light as a feather but sturdy . They have a good weight to them and also look better than pictured!I have to give a quick shout out to all of the reviewers before me that helped me to decide on these exact speakers and I am returning the favor, by leaving a review myself, so that other people can see just how good they are.

I needed speakers for my bedroom TV, wasn't sure if I would be able to connect speaker to TV, and I couldn't. But I was able to connect speakers to my cable box and it works wonderfully. The only downside if you can call it that is that you have to operate the volume manually you can't use the remote. Other than that I know I made a great investment.

I really wanted to love these speakers. I liked the design and people seemed to rate them highly. However, 10 minutes after they arrived I'm already looking into how to return them.My first test was on my Fujitsu Lifebook A6110 laptop. The grin soon faded from my face when I began playing music through these speakers. They sound extraordinarily flat and muffled. Unless I boost the treble in the equalizer, they sound worse than my laptop speakers.Figuring it may be this laptop, I grabbed a Dell Insprion 1420 and began playing the same song, getting the same results. I did one final test using my MP3 player (actually a camera, but playing through the cable I used on the computer) with once again, consistent results.Perhaps there's something wrong with these because I seriously can't imagine people giving such horrific sounding speakers 4 and 5 star ratings. These were purchased to replaced my 10 year old speakers that came with some Dell and there's no way they sound even close to those. And yes, they too are only 2.0 as well.

I needed decent speakers that did not require a separate subwoofer and that didn't take up a ton of space. I also needed to have the capability of plugging in headphones or an external audio source like an mp3 player. These fit the bill. They may not have a lot of bass, but the sound quality is good and loud enough to hear across the room without being distorted like cheaper speakers. So I bought two more pair for my other computers.They're pretty good sounding speakers. They don't have that much bass, but I don't have room for a separate sub.

We love the fact that they do not have to plug into the wall just to suck up more energy while not being used. The sound is better than the laptop speakers, but, as one should understand, not a replacement for a home stereo.They do, however, allow you to hear your streaming radio, music, or videos across the room, and still be able to hear it clearly.The flip-out stands in the back are great. They come with a decent zippered pouch for traveling and mobility.I highly recommend these speakers over any other speakers in this category. We have owned three laptop speakers like this, and these are by far the best.

THIS IS A GREAT SOUNDING SYSTEM FOR THE PRICE. YOU CAN'T BEAT IT. ONE GUY ON HERE GAVE THESE ONLY 1 STAR AND SAID THAT HE WASNT ABLE TO HEAR THEM UNLESS HE PUT HIS EAR CLOSE TO THE SPEAKERS. MY GUESS IS THAT HE DIDN'T HAVE THEM WIRED THE CORRECT WAY TO HIS PC. I'M EVEN GETTING THESE FOR MY BROTHER WHO IS AN AUDIO FREAK, BUT DOESNT WANT TO SPEND A LOT OF CASH. TRUST ME THESE ARE WELL WORTH IT AND YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.

If you have a simple computer sound card you will need to press the matrix button to hear surround sound. That's what I have on my new Dell Optiplex 360. A higher level sound card will allow extra plug ins to the sound card. I am looking into it. But meanwhile, this is a TERRIFIC system. Well built, attractive, great sound 40-20,000 and plenty of bass from the floor woofer. This set up has a total of 11 actual speakers. I shopped this carefully for Christmas, and found the price range from $75-$115, with Amazon still having the others beat. Dell was the highest. You can see these on display at Best Buy, but they don't have the best price and you'll pay sales tax. I highly recommend this. Give it some consideration. Very happy with my purchase.

I've had this system for about a month and i could not be happier with it. The sound is incredibly clear and ear bleeding powerful. It destroys the compitition in its price range and higher. High quality satalites with port holes on each of them. The sub is abusively loud. Punchy not muddy. Nice input options as well. Controller is nice to have. Games and movies sound outstanding. Great individual speaker control. Music sounds crisp, punchy and dynamic with virtually NO distortion at max volume (which will hurt you). I love this system!!! A+ from me with no complaints at all. BUY THIS NOW!!!

I bought these speakers ($80)based on product reviews. On the positive side: easy to make connections, speaker adjustable for surface or wall mount, fairly sturdy construction. On the negative side: Design could have been better - rubber foot fell off one speaker, Control Center should have had a mic jack as well as headphone jack. ** Subwoofer is exposed at the bottom - no protection. I almost put my finger through the cone when removing it from the box **. Still trying to adjust the sound, but not much improvement over my 5 yr old Altec Lansing system (stereo).

Well, I bought these speakers at Circuit City the other day. They were having a big going-out-of-business, bankruptcy, liquidation sale. So, I bought these speakers for about $50-60, brought them home, plugged them into my laptop and... NOTHING. And, now I've learned they DO NOT work with Windows Vista (Jesus, are these speakers THAT out of date, that they don't work with Vista? Wtf?). Of course, I'm sure Circuit City will not take them back, considering there financial situation (it wouldn't matter anyway, I threw away the receipt). So, once more, burned again. Just my luck.

I bought these speakers to replace a set from creative as an upgrade. I had read the reviews and when they arrived I hooked them up and was amazed at the clear crisp sound. I love that I can dial the bass and love the speaker mounted on top my monitor. Thanks for a great speaker system and the wonderful shopping experiance.

These speakers i thought weren't going to be that good when i got them in the mail, I bought them for my Xbox 360 but come to my amasment that these speakers are the best man. These surround sound speakers are by far the best speakers ive ever bought and theyll prob be my last because im not buying anymore unless these break for some unfortunate reason but i highly recommend these to any costumer i have had mine for about 3 months now. No problems or anything, great speakers!!!!

Easy hookup to optical out of an iMac. Great sound.With this system and a LCD projector you have everything you need toturn your office into a home theater too.My only problem is chasing the kids out so I can get some work done.I use it mostly for DVDs and movies downloaded from iTunes.I am eagerly waiting for HD movies on iTunes. I have watched some of theTV shows with HD and 5.1 sound and you can really tell the difference.If your DVD has 5.1 sound it is worth checking that the sound preference in DVDplayer is set to digital out.

both the volume and bass controls on the remote arent working like they seem they should. At a quarter turn on both knobs might as well be all the way down.. At half turn is when the bass kicks in louder than youd prefer... This leaves the system with no range of bass control, its either tons of bass or no bass at all.. volume has same effect but is easier to manage by manipulating the computers output volume... i wouldnt buy this system again for its problem but i must admit quality of the product does seem very good like other logitech products.I probly just got one of the first 100 produced.

Great set of speakers! I've been using this set for 1 year specially for gaming (with a Creative 5.1 sound card) and hearing rock music. I usually play on mid level sound/power of the speakers and they do a great job as well on the music and movies.My only complaints are that the speaker cables are too short and well, after 1 year of use if I set the volume too high I can notice a touch of crisp, specially on rock music. but again for this price you are getting something really really nice!!! Recommended is you have a small room :D !!

I upgraded from Creative's Z-5300 series after the center channel died. Crisp, clean and powerful sound from these. Whether you're listening to music, playing games or watching movies, this can handle it. The soft blue that the control center gives off makes a nice addition to any computer desk. This product was well worth the $250 price tag.

If you're not concerned with having surround sound speakers then these are excellent speakers for a desktop. The tones are good and even the base surprised me. You are obviously not going to get audiophile results out of these but for solid budget speakers these are better than any I have previously owned!

Easy to install, not the loudest set of speakers, but they rock if you are close to them. I would suggest getting these if you need something that is a little better than 2.1 speakers or your headphones. Also, if you are looking for something to accommodate your movie watching on your computer this will work great. If you want to have your rear speakers far away I would get extensions for them. Have fun and enjoy a great cheap set of speakers.

I added the Z5500s and a Turtle Beach Riviera sound cart to my Amazon cart on Monday. By Friday, when I wanted to place my order - the price for the Logitech's had skyrocketed from $245 to nearly $296. That's a 20% increase.The Turtle Beach sound card has gone up $3 too since I added it - about 10%.I've seen prices change by a few dollars before in items I've added to my cart - but this is ridiculous! I will definitely wait to order until the price returns to normal.

This is the second set of Logitech Z-5500 I own. My first set I bought for my computer and have been extremely happy with them. Im no "Audiophile" but I do have a Good ear. the Z-5500's perform well in all audio ranges and they are clean clear and powerful. I bought this second set for use as my home surround sound system on my 47" Toshiba Regza LCD tv. and I have them set up via optical cable (TOS Link) My FiOS set top box, DVD player and Playstation 3 are all going to the TV via HDMI cables then I went from the TV to the Logich pod via the optical cable and I have pure digital sound and video now and they completely rock My old surround sound system I paid $500 for and are total crap compared to the Logitechs. So whether you are considering buying these for your computer or as a home theater system I say GO FOR IT! BUY 2!

These offer nice sound, but I've found that for some streaming video the sound is not adequate and your abilty to crank up the volume is limited. Also, it appears that sometimes one can not use them in a plug-and-play manner, having to have them connected to a port with the initial boot-up rather than after the computer has already started. The carrying case is not, but they're not actually my idea of easily portable. I have a high opinion of the Logitech products I've purchase, and overall I like these speakers, and use them with a Dell notebook with satisfaction.

The product sounds nice, looks nice, and has good connectors and features.But, overall, I was much happier with logitech's speaker systems 6 years ago. The volume level on this unit, despite claiming ridiculously high wattage levels, is nowhere near what I used to get from a top of the line, similarly priced logitech system of years past.Other than that it's pretty good, but for a top end unit that claims such high wattage, it's not even 1/3 as loud as the room shaking system I had for a similar price quite a few years ago from the same manufacturer. I can certainly use the system and the sound quality is good, but it's not what I expected.

The logitech V20 speakers for notebook computers do the job well. Great tone, volume, size convenience and design. We use them for small meetings in our conference room, and also while at my desk just for music.

I bought my first set of speakers at Amazon. They worked great for a day, but then suddenly stopped producing any sounds. I scanned the Internet and the Logitech support forums and found many users complaining about the same problem. Neither recommendation I tried helped, so I contacted Logitech, which sent me another set of speakers (it was really nice of them). Unfortunately, the second set did not work from the beginning: one of the speakers produced a lot of static (and the sound went on and off). I tried to interchange the speakers between two sets, but it did not help. I contacted Logitech support again and was asked to provide the pickup info for sending them back, but my ticket has been pending for weeks and I have not heard from them since. So I'm returning my speakers to Amazon. Judging by the number of good reviews, I guess this problem does not affect everyone, but it was too much of coincidence for me to get two sets of malfunctioning speakers. Buyers beware.

THE LOGITECH NOTEBOOK V20 SPEAKERS ARE GREAT!!! THEY HAVE EXCELLENT SOUND AND VOLUME. THEY ARE EASILY TRANSPORTED IN THIER OWN CASE AND DO NOT NEEDAN A/C ADAPTER TRANSFORMER, THEY PLUG RIGHT INTO A USB PORT! I CARRY MINEIN MY LAPTOP CASE WHEREVER I GO. Someone suggested these speakers to me to use with my computer. They are fantastic. Great sound. I have them in my garage and use them with i-tunes off my computer. I also plug my TV into these speakers and now we have awesome sound for movies and sports. I highly recommend these speakers.

Nothing beats this system's sound quality in it's price range. The digital 'remote' is amazing. It provides numerous imputs on the back and an Aux in on the side... the aux will sound even if you have another input selected (A nice feature if you want to play music through one device - computer - while playing xbox through another channel)Very balanced system with versatility. If you want extreme booming bass, you can have it, if you wish to not wake up your neighbors, you can almost entirely turn down the subwoofer. Also, No more climbing down behind your furniture to change the levels of your sub... it's all conveniently a button away on your IR remote.The highs are very clean while not sharp/painful. the mids are all there and very balanced.I have the Bose Companion 3 Series II as well... these blow the Bose out of the water. I was frustrated with my bose because the bass would overpower the midrange and to get 'balanced' sound you had to sacrifice the amazing lows so that the highs didn't kill your ears.the logitech 5500-digital is pretty comfortable at any level and provides an excessive amount of power for people interested in throwing parties. At full volume it is still balanced, but it breaches the threashold of pain... these speakers are WAY too loud when turned all the way up........ perfect for college parties!!Amazon provides the best prices! Don't buy anything else... this system is where it's at!

I purchased these for our HP Media Center PC in our family room. Hooked them up and was very pleased with the sound. My daughter could hear the music from her room which is upstairs and down the hall. Bass is deep but not heart pounding like a full blown home theater system. Good enough for music in our family room and for games. At [...] with Logitech rebate I don't know how anybody could complain.

This is the second time I bought these speakers in a six month or so period. The first pair was rarely used and never at loud volume. Sound quality was excellent as advertised. The speakers failed. Suddenly.I bought the second pair because I still like the idea of these speakers -- small, portable, good quality sound. Keeping my fingers crossed that the first set failing was a fluke.

For a truly affordable price, you get a wonderful surround sound system that is great for music, movies, and gaming. Plug your computer, laptop, or even your iPod into it and immerse yourself in a bath of sound. Matrix mode is a great way to get surround sound effect from a stereo output. If you are using a laptop that does not have surround sound output, you can easily purchase a USB external sound card, like I did, and then you will have a real 5.1 setup, but even without it Matrix mode is great at giving the effect of true surround. The subwoofer is great, adding a greater sense of depth to your sound even in music that doesn't have a throbbing bass. It makes even Renaissance lute music sound more realistic, and listening to Bach and Vivaldi through this setup is a blast! You can turn up the bass dial (which is really a volume control for the subwoofer) and not lost the clarity of the sound or the treble. That really impressed me. Oh, and cannon fire sounds (and feels) great, as does a Dodge Viper.This is a great buy. I almost immediately went out and bought a second set for my brother.

Solved my speaker issue with a HP zv5000 Laptop. USB plug in, no CD required Windows XP detected driver immediately. Great quality sound, balance, and volume - better than the factory built-ins, which broke fast. Would purchase again.

The sound from this system is great and I am overall very happy with it BUT, the power light for the volumn and bass controller for the subwooferburned out. I called Logitech, who told me to return it for a new one. When it came it was as a complete new set because they do not market the controller by itself. Now I have way more than I need and just have to find room to store it. Since I can't get another control separate from the set, I have a completely useless set of perfectly good speakers to store.

After spending 45 minutes unpacking and connecting these speakers, I was unable to get any sound using my computer's 5.1 analog ports or my iPod (via the headphone/line in jack). Additionally, the speaker console displays a weird error message and then powers off after about 15 seconds:"Error Loadingt 96-24DSPABt: Detecting..."So, I'm off to customer support. I will amend this review based on my experience fixing the issue or replacing the unit. So far I am not impressed.Three days later...Logitech stopped responding by way of not updating my online incident. After waiting two days I called them and referenced the ticket. They recommended that I contact the seller for a replacement (see next paragraph for the reality of that recommendation). Logitech then said a replacement control pod is not available for 3-6 weeks and that I must FIRST mail the defective control pod (at my own expense) to them. AFTER they receive the defective control pod only then will I be placed on the waiting list for a new control pod. Also, the customer support rep refused to update the support incident with the mailing address and said he could only e-mail it to me... Whatever?!I then contacted TigerDirect who refused to give me a replacement because I ORDERED THROUGH AMAZON. They would only offer a refund. I don't want a refund!I then contacted Amazon using their "A-Z" merchant guarantee, but was told I have to wait six more days before I can file a claim. Weeee!!!

Before I bought these I had a set of Klipsch 4.1 promedia speakers that I had for 2 years and swore by them, they sounded great! But, something felt lacking in the bass department and loudness wasn't really there. SO I purchased these on pure speculation and based on reviews....hooked them up yesterday and the difference is night and day, LOUDER CLEANER SOUND, honestly louder than my old component stereo system and bass will thump hard. Very impressed with these for the money it's amazing.

I got these speakers for a great price, along with a mail in-rebate. The "matrix" sound scheme doesn't do much. It makes the sound very tinny. However, the regular speakers work amazing if you have a 7.1 sound card. The tiny subwoofer packs a huge punch. Definitely a quality product.

This is my Third and Best Logitech set. I have 1 for my computer, 1 for my Iphone and this set for my surround sound for games and movies. It has great sound, powerful bass, and works perfectly. It has a large sub but its ok because the sound the package produces is worth it.

I bought this product with the expectation (wrongly) that the control center would in fact control. The control center is in fact a simple input device that connects and the sub woofer connects everything (unlike a traditional speaker system). The wiring scheme you are stuck with is running your input to the control system which then has a SHORT serial cable that runs to the sub woofer (sorry, can't use the woofer without the control system). THEN you get to run speaker wire from the woofer to all your speakers. Had a I known this, I would not have purchased this item. I have kids and this is NOT good for a family room because the wires can't be hidden (unless you plan on somehow putting the subwoofer in a cabinet! If you are trying to use this for your home theater, avoid at all costs.UPDATE, it's a 15 pin VGA (not a 9 pin SERIAL). Forum members have discussed various success, failure and system DAMAGE from attempting to extend the connection from control to woofer.

I bought this system in March of 2008 expecting a small set of speakers with a woofer that delivers mediocre bass. I was wrong, the system delivers great sound and powerful bass. And when I say powerful I mean that I once knocked a mirror off one of my walls when it wasn't even at full volume. The sound maintains great quality as the volume increases and it gets much louder than you will ever need it to. The variety of audio inputs is also a major plus. Very easy set up and gets working in minutes. I can't think of any negative aspects of this system to date. For the money, its a great value and I wouldn't settle for anything less.
