I have had this camera for a few years and I have only had problems with it.

The picture quality is horrible. It is a task to get a picture that is not blurry if it doesn't have the flash on, which is very overpowering and makes everything dark behind the object in the picture.

The battery life sucks. It could be fully charged and when I turn it on to take some pictures it constantly shuts off because the battery is supposedly low.

Before windows 7, you had to use the finepix program to get the pictures off the camera which was a pain. Now it is easier thankfully.

I would not buy this camera...it was a very big disappointment to me.

I didnt know this kit even existed until I got a UV cover for my Fuji. I am very pleased with the entire kit. For a decent price I have been able to practice and use a Fisheye lens, for instance. The only thing missing from making the kit complete was a Wide Angle lens, which I picked up seperately, but having this kit put me at a point that completed my enesemble. All lenses came with the correct adapter rings, and even two extra!

Bought these batteries as back up to the one I received with my camera. Two and a charger for such a great price. They worked so well I bought some for my sisters camera too. Had to exchange hers because I ordered the wrong size and Blue Nook was very easy to deal with for the return. Definitely would recommend the seller and the Wasabi products!

While all digital cameras have their strengths and weaknesses, some are heavier on strengths than others. Until very recently I found Canon cameras were always a safe bet; I've shot Canon almost exclusively for over 30 years. But the last couple of Canons I bought left me feeling some frustration and disappointment. Never thought I'd be saying it, but there it is.

Before purchasing the Fuji, I read many online professional and user reviews (including the ones here) and downloaded and viewed hundreds of sample images at the pixel level. I read about the purple fringing and soft corners problematic with this camera, and I saw some of that in the samples. But in my research I also found a lot of good stuff that made the camera a very attractive d-SLR alternative. And so I hoped that the trade-off would be worth it. Namely better dynamic range, color accuracy and usable images taken at higher ISOs.

I'm so pleased to report that this camera delivers on all counts. Dynamic range is the best of all the CCD-sensor cameras currently marketed. And images taken at ISO 800 are cleaner, sharper and more color accurate than the images taken with my Canon SX10 at ISO 80 and 100. There really is no comparison. Fuji wins, hands down! When I auto-adjust a Fuji image in Adobe Photoshop CS3, oftentimes there's no change at all. Pictures are spot-on, straight from the camera.

Unexpected surprises were less barrel distortion at extreme wide angle and incredibly fine resolution. I can crop images to approximate the 560mm of optical zoom in the SX10 with no reduction at all in detail. In fact, the Fuji crops are clearer than the full frames from the SX10. This is due to a less aggressive approach to noise suppression and the way that Fuji has arranged the pixels on the sensor.

Focusing is both quick and accurate. Colors are pleasing in the film simulation modes as well as standard mode. Shutter lag is lower than average, even in low lighting and poor contrast conditions. The macro modes require some work to eke out the best from subjects, but when I get it right--wow!

Canon superzooms have spoiled me with their articulating LCDs. The LCD on the S100fs, while not as versatile as a 180-degree swiveling one, is very usable and makes easy work of ground, waist level and over-the-head shots. The LCD is easy to see even outdoors thanks to the brightness adjustment feature.

The only areas where the Fuji really lags behind are in its review mode and shooting and review menus. Canon and others have the edge here--reviewing images with the Fuji is clunky and slow, and deleting images requires three button presses followed by a rather long pause while the image is erased. It's a pretty primitive procedure compared to late-model cameras of other major brands, and Fuji could take some pointers in these regards.

Battery life is short at 250 shots per charge; I really prefer rechargeable AA power, which is nearly always longer-lived than proprietary batteries. It helps a lot, though, that the battery recharges very rapidly. I've picked up three extras to make sure I'm good to go for a full day in the field, so no worries!

For this photographer, at least, the last word is image quality. And where it matters most Fuji is the clear winner, strutting head and shoulders above its competition. Yes, there is occasional purple fringing, but it is only troublesome in the most extreme contrast scenes and at certain combinations of ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Happily, this kind of image is the exception and not the rule and can be dealt with pretty effectively in Adobe Camera Raw. And, anyway, to my eye, purple fringing is not quite as distracting as the royal blue, green, bright red and yellow fringing that plagues some of the SX10 images.

Fuji Finepix S100fs will be a hard act to follow. RAW imaging, excellent image quality and great performance make this camera a clear winner. It's easy to see why it earned the TIPA Gold Award for 2008!

I got this for a Fujifilm W-3 camera, an energy hog among digital cameras. This brought my supply of batteries for this camera from three to five. On a recent trip during which I took approximately 1,200 pictures, all five batteries got used and charged at least once. The two Wasabi batteries performed at least as well as the other three (the other three including the original that came with the camera and two other brands). One the trip, it took both the Wasabi charger and the Fuji charger to keep up with the camera's energy needs. The Wasabi charger performed just as well as the Fuji charger. The multi-color LED is a nice touch, glowing red when you first plug it in to charge a battery, then orange, then finally green when the battery is fully charged.

This was one of two kits that I bought in the same purchase. I also bought a similar charger and two NP-60 batteries for another of my cameras (Aiptek 3D-HD), for which I am writing a similar review to this one. For any future purchases of chargers and Li-ion batteries for cameras, Wasabi will most likely be my first choice.

I don't give five-star ratings easily, but this product deserves it.

I've had this camera for 3 weeks and 1200 photos. So far I'm loving it. I also own the Sony HX-100V superzoom (highly regarded). I was looking for better Image Quality and more DSLR type features, along with the ability to go shooting without having to carry a camera bag with multiple lenses. This camera delivers on all points for me. I have not seen the Orbs issue or Lens Sag on mine. Great camera, It's no $5000.00 DSLR multiple lens setup but it's pretty good considering the price. All the online reviews I've read agree that this is one of the best superzoom's on the market today.

This camera is very thick and heavy. Not something I'd recommend taking walking around, compared to slimmer cameras.
The battery life is also horrible. I take a few photos a day, for a couple days, and the batteries need changing. I always have to take spare batteries while going out with this camera.
If it's really sunny out, the photos are over-exposed. Often get red eyes, even with the red eye reduction.
It's OK outside if it's not too sunny or too dark.
It takes horrible indoor photos, it's ALWAYS grainy.
The pictures never look like the scene they're captured in, no matter what setting you choose. (I've had problems with all of them)
I cannot take clear photos of up close things like jewelry and things like that. The photos come out fuzzy and blurry most of the time.
Don't even think about cropping photos, they're even more grainy than normal photos.
I paid $100 for this and it's not even worth that! There's tons of cameras on eBay for that price WAY better than this one.
I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA FOR ANYONE!

I owned two other Fujifilm cameras prior to this purchase, a MX-1200 and a 2800Zoom -- both are still working fine today. Both are SmartMedia card cameras, and since SmartMedia cards are becoming increasingly difficult and more expensive by the day, it was time to upgrade. I reviewed every mid-range prosumer camera available, reading more reviews and looking at even more example pictures in the process. My choices eventually narrowed to the Canon SX10 IS and the Fujifilm S100FS. The SX 10 reminded me too much of my wife's Canon Powershot A590, except bigger. The Fujifilm is a true bridge camera having the feel and build of a DSLR, but the convenience of a fixed zoom lens permanently mounted to the camera body.

This is NOT a P&S camera -- if you want that, stay away from the S100FS and look at a Powershot. This camera handles more like a Nikon D60. All of the features packed inside the S100FS are too long to list here. Coupled that with a selling price in the low $400 range really makes it a bargain.

I cannot stress this enough -- read the owners manual carefully.

Following the quick start guide, I set the camera up. Once done, time to explore what this camera can do.

Started out taking pictures inside the house on Auto mode, which was very easy, but you will have purple fringing in high contrast areas of the frame, especially when there is lower light and the zoom set to wide angle. The fringing issue moderates when the flash is used, since the aperture is stopped down further. Switching to "A" aperture mode can eliminate many of the purple fringing issues, since you control the lens opening directly. That took about 40 pictures for me to completely understand this. Reading the owners manual carefully also helps.

That being said, I next experimented with the camera outside. At very wide angle zoom setting, the purple fringing issues appear, less apparent now that I shoot many pictures in "A" mode. Zooming out, the purple fringing is far less noticeable. Once you learn how to deal with it and compose the pictures better, not being tempted to use this camera as a point and shoot, your results are nothing short of spectacular.

Next, I shot some outdoor pictures in RAW format. RAW mode generates a 22.5 MB RAW file that is 5440 x 4080 in size when you use the Finepix Photo Viewer/RAF Converter program. Manipulation and conversion of a RAW image is painfully slow in this program, but the end result may be worth it, since the end JPEG file retains the 5440 x 4080 size and weighs in at just over 10 MB when saved in fine JPEG format. You have more detail in this file format than a regular JPEG saved in fine mode.

The lens used is very good and the image stabilization feature does work, better than other cameras I have used in the past. One hand held shot was my Comcast connection box some 45 feet away at full zoom. There was a yellow tag at the base of the box, which I could read the seal tag numbers in 100% crop mode. Curious, I tried that with the Canon -- not even a black line to show that numbers were even on the tag. Fuji has not diminished the quality there.

The purple fringing is the only real weak point I can see with the S100FS. I wished that Fuji, with all of their experience in making digital cameras and their history of film products, could have done something in the post shooting process firmware to lessen this effect like Panasonic P&S cameras. Be that as it may, working around this issue and some post shooting work in Photoshop with CA/PF plug-in's, all but the really bad purple fringing can be eliminated. Once you are past this point, the balance of the features, especially for the price, make this camera a real bargain as an upgrade to a near-DSLR in quality.

I bought this camera as it has some manual controls, wide angle zoom and HD video (although this is more a bonus than a must have for myself). The LCD screen does indeed display some strange vertical flare and bleached colours, i must point out thought that this strange problem with the LCD does not appear when used indoors unless you have a bright light source in veiw, and in my experience is due to the camera having no lens hood to stop sunlight reaching the lens. Anyway despite this problem the results are very good.

The Dual IS is pretty much useless after 8x times zoom which on a 15x is pretty usless really, the camera is not compact enough to put in my coat pocket but is certainly better than carrying a DSLR around.

To get the best results out of this camera you need to have some understanding of the manual controls as Auto mode is not good enough for most situations. The results when using high ISO are impressive and one of this cameras biggest plus points.

I can't comment on the HD video as a) i don't have an HD TV and b) its not the main reason for purchasing it. I can say though that it is an improvement over my old S6500fd.

This camera is really hard to give a single rating so i shall break it down into areas.

Features 5/5
Image Quality Auto 3, Manual 5/5
Image Noise 4/5
Ease of use 3/5 (purely because you need to use the manual settings to get the best results)
Video 4/5
Build Quality 4/5
Compactness 3/5

So my final conclusion is that this is a good camera, which is more of a side ways move than a upwards one over its predecessors. My old Fuji S6500FD takes far better photos than the S2000HD despite it only having 6MP. But i've searched long and hard to find a camera as good as my Fuji F810, and that search will continue. I'm keeping this camera as it meets my current needs. Fuji always make good cameras but the problem with this particular model is the competion have caught up and Fuji no longer dominate the superzoom/bridge compact market. If your considering this camera decide what features you need, mine was manual control but if you dont need this then look at alternatives. The Panasonic Lumix range is particularly good for point and shoot with a wideangle lens and HD video.

PLEASE NOTE
Since writing the above reveiw, i've played with camera a lot more and discovered that turning off the AF assist illumination and the Dual IS makes the camera far more responsive and reduces the delay in taking images . This helps raise the Auto image score to 4 (it also helps the manual settings to), although turning off the Dual IS becomes annoying as you can only zoom to about 4x before you get noticeable lens shake, Although using the flash will help in most situations, it can be again very annoying if you want to capture natural light.

I have had the Fuji S100fs camera for almost a month now, and have quite a bit to say about it's performance. First, I am very impressed with the image quality in general and the low noise images produced by this camera. Pictures up to 400 ISO are almost noise free, while 800's show very little noise and still show great detail. 1600's are not too bad either, but you probably would not want to print too big, as there is some noise there - however, compared to pretty much every other point and shoot out there, noise levels are quite satisfactory. I was able to get some great shots at my daughters' dance recital last week. Using 800 ISO for the slower ballet & pointe, and 1600 for the faster action, like clogging & hip-hop, I captured some very nice images with little or no motion blur. A few were out of focus: I noticed that when tracking moving objects the focus had a little trouble locking on some of the time. Overall, pretty pleased though.
Next, the Dynamic Range expansion feature on this camera really works. Some shots that would have been too contrasty at standard DR turned out extremely nice - almost never have a blown highlight and shadowy areas are lit enough to show detail that would be lost otherwise. Great feature!
Another feature of the S100fs is the film simulation mode. I do like the "Velvia" setting, but it cannot be used at the same time as DR expansion mode (the camera switches DR off when Velvia is selected). There is a way around this, however, by setting color to "high" and tone to "hard" in the main menu (this is what Velvia setting does to the camera anyway). By doing this, you get more vivid color and tone and still be able to shoot with expanded DR. Very glad I experimented with the available settings to discover this.
This camera has a lot of adjustment buttons and many choices in the menus. The menus are easy to use and the many features accessed there are pretty useful. Many DSLR-like controls here allow quite a bit of experimentation and adjustment, making this camera work better for the more experienced photographer, and allowing trial and error for the less experienced to get better at what they are able to capture. If you want to let the camera do most of the work, it will, and do it pretty well. I still recommend using the camera at least on P mode for best results.
Now for the bad news: Purple fringing and other chromatic abberation is there. To be honest, out of 950+ shots, I have only had a REAL problem with about 7 or 8, but it is there on very high contrast shots, especially at wide angle & a little less at full telephoto). Most of what I shoot will never really show this flaw, but once in a while, it will be there. ALWAYS use DR400% on shots like that and, in some cases, it may help lessen visible CA.
Now for the pros / cons list:
Pros: Image quality overall is very impressive - not quite DSLR quality, but most shots are very close, rivaling those of the cheaper DSLR's.
Visible noise is much lower than pretty much any point-and-shoot made today: larger image sensor, and the fact that a Fuji Super CCD is used, are predominantly the reasons here. Again, not quite as clean as a DSLR can produce, but not that far off.
Very convenient: 28mm wide angle & 14.3x zoom lens on the camera, no dust issues, no lens changing & packing around. There are some of us that just do not want those things no matter how good the photo is (I'm not doing this for a living, just want decent everyday shots and still be able to produce pretty professional looking photos once in a while - this camera allows me to do that).
There are other pros, but I've covered the main ones. Here are the con's:
Purple fringing is definately this camera's weak spot. Fuji could have done better in this department. The S100fs would be invincible (as a point & shoot anyway) if not for this. Like I said before, most of what I do is not affected by this, but it would be nice not to see it crop up EVER. If you do alot of outside picture taking (especially shooting through trees or at buildings in front of a bright sky or other bright & contrasty pictures) you might not be happy with the results unless you are good with PF removal software and have the time to use it.
Manual focus is pretty worthless on the S100fs. It is electronic rather than a true mechanical focus mechanism. It is unresponsive, as it does not really matter whether you turn the ring quickly or slowly - it just adjusts in slow increments either way. Since you can't quickly focus in & out, it's hard to tell if you're right on or just close (and close is not good enough). Not very useful. Fortunately, the auto focus works well nearly all of the time. Low light/contrast and moving subjects do pose some problem, but most point and shoot cameras suffer a little in this area.
Software included with the camera, particularly the RAW processing software, is not that great. DPreview sa

Unfortunately it didn't have any space left for holding my extra batteries and memory cards but I still think it is a good buy. I guess for the thinner camers like those recommended for it would leave room for extra stuff.
It offers great protection and it is neat and compact.
It looks like an expensive case rather than the cheap foam cases.

I ordered this because, as anyone looking would know, you can't do much with your camera if the battery dies. Not like you can go to the store and get a couple AAs. Being that the Fuji 3dw3 eats up batteries pretty fast, I wanted something that I could charge either on the go, or at home. This kit came with the charger, car adapter, international plug (which I have not used), and 2 batteries. I haven't come across any issues with the batteries. They seem to last the same amount of time as the stock battery that came with the camera. For a fraction of the cost of just one new battery, I managed to get two plus the charger and car adapter. I'd be quick to recommend this kit to go along with any of the compatible cameras.

Oh, and shipping was faster than I expected.

I am definitely a "junior amateur" photographer and this is my first set of lenses for my Fuji Finepix S700 camera. The lens filters (UV, Polarized and FLD) fit perfectly without the need for an adapter ring. The HD telephoto, close-up and fish-eye lenses fit when using the included adapter ring. I took some pictures around the neighborhood with the UV and HD telephoto lenses together and the pictures were amazing. I was already happy with the picture quality from my camera, but this took it to a whole new level! Flower petal edges were sharp and clear. Regular weeds looked like a soft patch of wild field greens almost worthy of being shown in a nature magazine.

Another awesome feature about this kit is that everything has its own case. The telephoto and fish-eye lenses come in little leather pouches and the filters come in a hard case. I received this as a Christmas present along with a Swiss Army camera case that has enough pockets and dividers that everything fits perfectly and will stay safe.

There aren't any instructions or usage tips included in the kit, but I still have the book that came with my camera and there were quite a few good tips in there. The tripod is adorable, but not too practical. Even without the extra lenses on my camera, it is too small to hold it and it topples over. I have a pocket-size digital camera that will probably work on it. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with this set.

PS: I looked up the items directly from Opteka's website and one lens on its own cost more than this set.

Ужасно

I have a finepix v10 which this battery is supposed to be compatible with. The charge on the original battery had become very poor so the camera functions perfectly otherwise.
I saw this product and it seemed to tick all the boxes in terms of a replacement - unfortuntley this is not the case. After charging the battery for several hours the first time i went to use the camera it worked ok for about 2 mins then it just shut down/froze due to lack of power with lens open/extended. I had to use the power switch for power to be restored & again after a few mins the camera shut down/powered off.
This continued to happen all the time with this battery in the camera so i have resorted to using the old battery again - the camera works fine the battery only last for a short while but my camera is more reliable than when using this product.
This was a very disappointing replacement and a waste of money really as it isn't compatible and has made using my camera more frustrating and rendered it practically impossible to take/view pictures when it keeps powering off!!

The camera I purchased was to replace one that was stolen from me in April. I have looked at other digital cameras and none compared to this one. Everyone remarks on my photos I take with it. Because it is small and thin it fits in my pocket, that's how you get great shots - always have your camera ready. It takes great action shots and awesome flower/plant closeups which I do a lot of. I was soooo impressed with Blinq, the company that actually sold it to me through Amazon. I ordered the camera on Friday and it was in my mailbox on Monday along with a very cute packing list. The camera looks and works like new even though it was a used item.

I enjoyed the product. It was functional. Bag was sturdy and of good quality. I used the portable charger a lot because the camera zapped my batteries within hours.

Ужасно

Bought this camera several years ago. It is OK for shots of the grand kids playing in the front yard but when you try and take a picture for an eBay auction, the camera is USELESS. It has ZERO macro picture capability... in other words, it won't focus for a close up and the viewfinder is so small you can't tell until you have created another blur-image. It just won't focus close up (under 2 feet) very well. Trying to get fine detail on smaller objects is impossible. I am buying another camera for close up pics. The menus are not very intuitive so make sure you keep the owner's manual which is also available online at the manufacturer website for download.

I purchased the product relying on what was actually said about it, sometimes though as everybody knows these can be misleading. In this case the are entirely accurate, the case it comes with is handy for transporting to the photograph shop, it keeps the item safe and difficult to lose. The quality a the prints which came from it are superb.

Bought this camera over a year ago and love it. I was looking for a SLR but after talking to the man in the shop I took his advice and never regreted it.
I take it with me whenever I go out. The batteries last well unless you do lots of movie recording, but just take spares.
My son keeps trying to steal it so I may have to get him one for Christmas.

The order arived as described and on time. All components were functional and in new condition. Note: the camera case is to small for larger cameras such as bridge cameras, it will fit, though, it's a bit tight. Other than this, if you need good accessories at a good bundle price I recomend this for you.

I purchased this for my grandchild who wanted to take pictures like his grandma. I did not want to spend alot of money due to him being so young. They worked very well for him and he thought he was a professinal photographer. The smile on his face and him finding an interest in something outside was worth the cost. The lenses gave my Fuji a different look on pictures which we liked.

I liked this digital camera enough, that when I wore out my old one after 3-4 years of use, I bought another one. Camera has wonderful image quality for a 6.3 MP, and is easy to operate and upload images to your computer. Had the camera 4 years, and used it constantly, mostly in outdoor settings, before the LCD became cracked. Was dropped down a hill full of boulders and still kept working, LCD was probably cracked from getting it wet on a different occasion. For a cheap point and shoot, this item has a surprisingly high quality, and often allows for full motion capture. I have taken pics from a moving car that came out well. Takes about 7 seconds to turn on and take a photo, so there will be some delay, before a shot, but is very portable, and a great camera to use for beginners.

I got the Fuji as a alternative to my Nikon SLR and on the first trip out with it lost the battery. I was thinking great 40 bucks for a new one. Then I found Wasabi, what a deal. My order came very quickly and I was back in business. The battery life is great and having two of them is so convenient. All around a great geal from a great company.

I got this for Christmas 2009 after comparing with S1500. The HD recording and playback was the deal clincher. I thought it would be worthwhile seeing what a better camera could do for those special occasions rather than the point and click Samsung I had.

The pictures are nice and detailed with very little noise when I was editing. There were initial issues with indoor lighting and yellow glow but this was acceptable after the sensor normalised after a few seconds. The laminated flooring probably made the problem worse.

Zoom was (almost too) responsive and after taking time getting used was able to track my daughter and antics very quickly. It also gave me the opportunity to take natural scenes and poses (try getting a toddler to smile for the camera) without sticking the lens in her face.

At this price you get a lot of camera and specification for your money. The 15X optical zoom is something most cameras don't even approach. However framing the picture comes with a lot of practice so I recommend some playing around time before expecting to get good results more than half the time. (the reason why i am reviewing now). Manual and digital antishake helps a lot but takes a longer time between click and picture taken.

This is a great camera for

1) training for your eventual SLR
2) not being fussed on carrying about lenses.
3) a bit more oomph than your point and click.
4) having an HD recording option.

There are newer cameras, faster cameras and probably better picture cameras (the latest Lumix series comes to mind to encompass all these features). But definitely none put together quite as well as this package and at this price. A little hint, Fuji cameras go down in price fairly quickly and increasingly better offers will do the rounds especially during festive periods. I think orignal RRP was around 299 pounds.

No carry case but my order included tv connectivity. For completeness, reading the trustedreview commentary (most comprehensive)of this camera, full zoom can cause some convex bulging of straight lines (eg roads) in a picture. For my everyday use it isn't an issue.

The Fujifilm Finepix S 5 Pro is all I expected it to be and more. It is much more than a Nikon D200 camera with a Fujifilm sensor, working well with both Nikon and
Sigma lenses. This camera provides at least 2 to 3 ways to accomplish most tasks and
you can tailor controls and settings to suit your needs and preferences.
I am also pleased with corp. product support from Fuji. The seller
provided prompt delivery and satisfactory assistance.

At least as far as I'm concerned. This is my 4th full size digital camera and, the best, by FAR, even over my Fuji S9000.

The image stabilization, dynamic range expansion, equivalent zoom range of 28-800mm (including digital) and high resolution are giving me the best pictures I have ever taken.

My favorite settings:
aperture priority or manual (right next to each other on the knob)
color: high
tone: hard
ISO: 400
Dynamic expansion: 400% (requires ISO 400)

The dynamic expansion really improves the brightness capture range. I guess this what they used to call lattitude in film photography. I have definitely noticed fewer blown highlights and fewer blotchy, near-black areas.

Neat feature: if you're in aperture priority and decide to go manual, it's just one click away on the mode knob and your aperture choice is automatically carried over to manual. The metering switches to a very convenient slider that lets you instantly compare your settings with what the meter is predicting. This feature essentially lets you intuitively set exposure compensaion in a visual way without fooling with a separate button or function.

I've never had a camera with image stabilization. Wow. Handheld shots with telephoto, pulling the neckstrap tight, really surprised me.

Fuji wisely moved the 2 and 10 sec self timers out of the menu and right on the 4-way selector, so when you're doing tripod work, you make 2 clicks and hit the shutter to make hands off shots. I do this a lot so this was a major productivity enhancement.

I'm finding that I use the extra zoom much more than I had anticipated. You can get very personal head-and-neck pictures of people, instead of the usual head-to-waist shots, without getting so physically close to them that you artificially change their behavior.

Being able to zoom while taking a movie produces results good enough that I haven't bothered to buy a video camera.

The tilting LCD makes it easy to get low and high angle shots. When taking a movie, you can put the camera on your tripod, tilt the LCD down, and hold the camera way up in the air while still being able to see the framing.

I especially like how you can set the focus to manual, yet still hit the autofocus button to preset and lock the focus at a certain point. If you also set the exposure in manual, there's nothing left for the camera to calculate when you hit the shutter and response time is quite fast.

There is so much extra resolution available, that you can easily crop out very useful photos from inside the full frame without worrying about losing detail. Even when you use the digital zoom, you're still getting 800mm of zoom at 5 megapixels! One of the first things I do in post processing is resize and throw away excess content, unless I anticipate using the image for a poster print. My favorite way to get a panorama is to zoom out, then crop the top n bottom out of the image.

I use one glass filter, a Hoya Moose's warming circular polarizer. I picked up a 67 to 77mm step-up ring and use Cokin P series filters.

Definitely get a coupla spare batteries. There's one seller here on Amazon that sells 2 packs of higher capacity than Fuji's battery.

I think the SDHC 8GB, class 6 cards are the way to go. I got a couple, and one with a bundled reader, as I can't just pop them in my computer like the XD cards. Scads of video recording time.

WalMart sells a camcorder case (made by Extreme) that is a perfect fit for this camera, holding the camera sideways with the memory card access door up, and pockets to hold batteries, charger, cables, and even room for a minipod and a cut down piece of Kodak grey/white card. I have the polarizer, Fuji lens hood, and the dustcap all on the camera and it still fits snugly in the case. It also will hold the original Moose filter box.

I realize that full-fledged DSLR's could take better pictures, but you'd probably have to spend over 5 times the cost of this camera (including lenses) to do better and still have to hassle of carrying everything and changing lenses. Don't forget the dust patrol, too.

Regards,

Mark
