I have owned this microphone headset for a couple of months and used it for speech recognition and to watch movies/listen to music. The sound is better than I expected. I have had no issues with speech recognition either. It seems to perform pretty well.The headset is very lightweight, which is good, but I am a little concerned with the plastic it is made from. It appears to be brittle, which could be a concern in cold temperatures. It folds up nice, but I would recommend being very careful where you store it. It could get damaged if stored, let's say, in the front pocket of your laptop case. Mine has held up fine, but I rated it 4 stars just for the reason above.

Excellent sound quality and clarity. I have an ibook and use it with that, and it works great, just plug in and go. Great value for price too! and it fold up nicely for easy travel! Definitely recommend it for all the mac and pc people out there, tired it on a pc too and it works just as great!

Headphones have great sound and are a bargain for the price. It is fairly comfortable initially on the head and does fold up fairly small. About 6 inches long by 2 inchs wide by 1.5 inches tall folded. It is great that it has both USB and plug connectors although the USB seems a bit loose.Couple of downsides. They are fairly heavy and chunky so they get a bit uncomfortable on the head after 20 minutes or so. The cord is very long which is good for movement, but there is no place to store all that cord. Matter of fact, the phones come with nothing to store them so I just use a fat rubber band.Ovrall a very good value.

Well, overall this is great, I just got it and have no problem with the mic boom (yet). Sound is great, and I like the volume control and mic switch on the cord. The only downside is the headband seems "loose" like the headphones might slide down if you move to much. I have not had much of a problem with this except when on the road trying to watch a movie I must readjust every now and then and occasionally when I am eating something. I would have preferred to have a sliding head adjustment (where you manually adjust to the size of your head) instead of this "retractable wire" adjustment. No biggie tho, I can always duct tape mod it if it gets annoying :D

The sound was about as good as I'd expect from something that does not fully enclose the ear. This headset propelled my initial and substantial business use of Skype.I share another reviewer's opinion that the included software is useless, and if not for yet another reviewer's explanation, I would still be innocent of the purpose of the clumsy audio interface.The microphone, or something downstream of the microphone, recently failed with no warning. (Unfortunately this happened in a borrowed office on a client's site, in which the client had been unable to provide a working telephone, when I had many calls to make, and when my cell phone minutes were redlining.) The sound was still very good, but I could not make myself heard. This happened after a year of so of use.The same thing happened to my son's DSP-500 after about a year and a half of lighter use.Plantronics' website indicates that they will repair or replace headsets for a flat fee. However, one must fill out and submit a form to find out what this is. Either response is very slow (i.e. weeks), or it is necessary to actually register for an account before Plantronics will supply this information online. This seems inappropriately cumbersome to me. The website displays an account registration form after one submits the repair estimate form, but does not make the relationship between the two forms explicit.I'm trying the Logitech Premium Notebook Headset now. The clever, origami-like folding design appears fragile. I am hoping that the included carrying case--conspicuously missing from the DSP-500--will compensate for this, and make stuffing the Logitech headset into briefcases and suitcases as least as practical as it was for the DSP-500.

My 5-star rating takes all factors into account, including value.I bought these for PC gaming & VOIP using Skype. I've been using them for about a month now, and love them. They are probably the most satisfying computer accessory purchase I have made to date (and yes, I've bought my share of accessories).I need to be able to hear what's going on around me while I'm playing, so anything noise-cancelling isn't an option. I won't claim that the sound quality is on par with other products that cost 10x as much, but for the price, these perform excellently.When I first started using them, I asked my friends about how I sounded compared to my old mic, which I'd say was "above average" quality (described a bit more below). They said that the high and low pitches didn't come thru quite as well, but my voice was still very clear and they had no trouble hearing/understanding me.I can't stand any type of headband or earmuff-style earphones, they give me a headache after about 1/2 hour of use. Prior to buying these, I had been using a pair of cheap earbuds and a separate boom mic that came bundled with Dragon Naturally Speaking. The mic was a headband style, but I could wear it around my neck, so it didn't cause any discomfort. What that combination did cause tho, was a lot of tangled cords. Another drawback was the earbuds would fall out a lot if I was eating anything while playing.The clips on the .Audio 450s are snug enough that they keep the buds in place well but not so much that they cause any discomfort. The single wire eliminated all the tangled cord issues I had with my previous solution.If you're looking for top-of-the-line audio reproduction, get an expensive surround sound speaker set-up. If you want a good, comfortable, convenient, gaming headset, for a reasonable amount of money, these are the best I've seen.One could-be-complaint is that if you turn the in-line volume control all the way up, you get a significant amount of "noise". Just leave that closer to 50% and turn the input (PC volume) up to desired levels.

I have used this item for about 3 weeks now and have to say it both good and bad.The sound is clear and I can find no fault there. The ear cups are also large so to provide plenty of room and not get hot inside due to the open air of them.My problem comes from the microphone. There is no fault in the voice quality, as I have asked people I talk to and they say it is better than my old unit for clarity and no 'tinny' sounds. My problem is that after about 2 weeks, the arm for the mic now drops to straight down. That is to say that the part you talk into is on my shoulder. It is VERY loose, and I had to turn it up every few minutes to have it just drop back down.If this part were to be tightened in future models, or if there was someway to fix the current, I would have gave the unit a 5 for 5!

I bought this headset to create video courses and for Second Life. I've been pleased at the quality of the mic, especially. I also like the bendable mic, which gives me excellent control over its placement. It's also very comfortable, at least for a couple of hours at a time. Another great feature is that you can use it as a USB headset, or remove the adapter, and plug it into the mic & speaker connectors. For example, I was able to record, while using my speakers, by using only the mic connector. That flexibility was very valuable to me.

I bought this to play mmorpgs (massively multiplayer online role-playing games), and it works great. The sound comes in very clear, and my teammates have no problem hearing me when I speak in the mic. It has a nice extra long cord too. Great headset for cheap!

These are a bargain at this price. First of all -the most comfortable headset I've ever worn. I can get them on and off much easier and fold them or hang them up because they're lightweight. They don't pinch my head, ears, etc. Not only does the microphone achieve high accuracy with voice recognition (both in dragon and vista), but they're great for listening to music. Buy two - and give a set as a gift - that's how good these are.

My headset only made it about 4 months. To be fair, I used a laptop and moved around quite a bit. While moving my laptop, the USB adapater bent about 15 degrees when going around a corner. After the headset didn't work, I realized how flexible this adapter was, and how easy it was to break the circuit board inside.I was very happy with the headset, the quality and mute/volume on the cord was great.Just a warning to others (Quite expensive to replace as well)

I purchased this headset to be used primarily with my speech recognition software - Dragon NaturallySpeaking. After spending money on various headsets, I finally found the perfect one. This headset is very lightweight which makes it extremely comfortable to wear practically all day. The product folds nicely making it very portable. Additionally, it comes with an in-line control that lets you mute the microphone with a touch of a finger. It appears to do a very good job of canceling the background noise. When I dictate, the translation accuracy rate is close to 99%. With other headsets, I use to spent so much time going back to correct the text. I am even thinking of buying an extra headset, just to have it as a backup. Thank you for a great product.

I bought this for use at the office with our new internet phone service. The quality is great for the price. My greetings sound rich and full, not like I'm in a barrel. Sound quality from headphone is good. I wish they'd make a cordless version - it'd be perfect!

I got this because I liked the Platronics cell phone stereo headset. It wasn't the best for MP3, but better then decent, and very comfortable & small. This set is no different, the pinchers keep the buds from having to be wedged & pulling at your cartilage making them irritated. I have tested the mic/headset & the speakers so far work with websites as well on Vista. For the mic, I tested icon yahoo & it worked & AIM recognized it as well. For speech recognition, I had to put the mic all the way up which also brought the speakers up too high, so I turned down the speakers by using the speaker volume wheel. It has a great mute slide on the wire as well. The mic bar can also be turned to face the other direction in case you didn't want it in our face as well as possibly to be used on the other ear.

This is not a bad set. The microphone is a little floppy, so I sometimes get annoyed that it moves around. It takes quite a bit more fiddling to put this on my head than a traditional headset, so if you are using it every so often instead of leaving it on for long periods of time, the traditional style may work better for you. It is lightweight and comfortable once on, and seems to work well with Skype.The one thing I would change is that both the microphone and headphone jacks are black, and are identical except for a really hard to see icon on each one (also in black). So, I'm always trying to figure out which one goes in which jack on my laptop. I guess I'll have to put some tape on one of them. I bought this headset for connecting with guildmates on Ventrillo, but I find myself using it for pure listening enjoyment more and more these days. It provides very good sound clarity in the earphones, and while I haven't heard what the mic sounds like over Vent, I haven't had any problems with it yet, and its folding up into the main headpiece is convenient. The cord's a little long (about six feet), but that's easily fixed with a twist-tie. Quite a worthwhile purchase.

Just a few quick points, starting with the negative:The headset is a little slippery and doesn't feel very securely positioned on the head. It takes some work to get it positioned just right so it doesn't slip off.The positive:The audio quality of the headphones and microphone is great.The USB adaptor works great on both Mac and Windows.The headset folds into a very small package and the cord wraps nicely around it.Recommended.

I'm really liking this version of the headset. I have a previous usb version (DSP-400) from about 2 years ago that is starting to show its age. I notice the framing of this version seems sturdier and the joints may be better designed.The sound quality is quite good whether I've used the USB jack or plugged straight into audio ports. I use it with Vista's voice recognition and it does a great job.

This headset was exactly as expected. It has a decent sound. The bass isn't overwhelming but for voip or casual gaming it's great. If you have never used the Monuaral style headset before it takes a little getting used to. The mic is sturdy and adjustable. The only draw back is that it does not have an in line volume control.

I bought this headset to use with voice recognition software. The headset is light, comfortable, and very accurate. For voice-recognition, it is very important to be able to position the headset the same way each time. This headset allows you to do that very easily, producing excellent voice-recognition accuracy. I am very pleased with this headset and I would recommend it to others. This review was written with the Plantronics headset, and voice-recognition.

Outstanding value and performance. Bought to replace my Plantronics DSP 500, and I cannot be more pleased (which is saying something, I loved them). They exceeded my expectations. The most comfortable headset I've ever put on my head. The sound is super (the bass on the Turtle Beach are a bit better, but they also at more than twice the price).I would buy these again and recommend them to anyone (and I already have).

This product worked perfectly on my laptop ...Windows XP. It is comfortable to wear, easy to pack for trips, and both sides of conversations have always been very clear with as much volume as I want. It is really nice as well for listening to music off my laptop. I will try their wireless model next.

These headphones are soft on the ears for long term wear. Easily adjustable to fit different head sizes. Doesn't put too much pressure on the head. They sound great when I play games. I have only used the mic a few times and received no complains from teammates. In-line volume control is convenient and the cord is just long enough. This is a very good headset for the price.

I bought these to replace another set of old Plantronics I had. The ears on these are huge and very comfortable to wear for prolonged periods of time. The sound quality is great, as with any plantronics set. My only complaint is the mic bar isn't tight enough. It's been about a month since I've bought these and it's gotten a little loose.

I do not own these cans, but I looked up some additional details on this model that are not given in the item's description.The actual model for this item is ".Audio 365".The frequency response for them, as provided by their Tech Support dept.:Speaker = 20 Hz - 20 kHzMicrophone = 100 Hz - 8 kHzThat is not a very good set of stats. Microphones on headset should ideally have at least 100 Hz - 12 kHz, and the good models provide for a full 100 Hz - 16 kHz. A maximum 8 kHz will allow for voice transmission, but the high range of sounds that a human makes will sound scratchy or otherwise unappealing.

Nice upgrade over my old plantronics headset that they discontinued. I hope these last a bit longer. Frame is more solid and the mic boom is beefy and should stand up to wear and tear. The cans are nice and large and fit completely over your ears. Very comfortable - wearing them for 3-4 hours is no problem. Since they are open ear they keep your ears from getting sweaty and also allow you to hear the wife when she wants to get you off the computer. Mic is crisp and clear over Ventrilo/Teamspeak. Mainly use them for gaming and sound is great for a standard headset. I have it coupled with an X-FI Xtremegamer sound card and the detail is great. Highly recommended for the budget gamer.

I don't think I've ever been happier with a headset. The DSP makes VOIP and gaming crystal clear. I plug in the headset to my USB and VISTA automagically turns over all sound to the headset, I don't have to mess with turning off speakers or anything. The mute/volume on the headset cord is directly integrated with the OS.This headset is simply outstanding.

I already bought the Plantronics DSP-400 and some other model before this one.Now, I use DSP-500 at work, and the foldable DSP-400 at home or on the go.I always had problems with this type of headphones because I never found any comfortable headphones in the past. After 1 or 2 hours, my head would hurt because of the pressure that some headsets make.I think that the Plantronics DSP-500 are extremely comfortable and the sound quality and the microphone are very good.I use them with MacOSX and I own both the DSP-500 and DSP-400 for about 2 years.

This headset works extremely well. I'm not using it as a game headset but as a communications headset. The only issue I have is I wish the mic would come down closer to the mouth; it would help reduce the background noise it can pick up.
