Impenetrable package, poor design of headset (insufficient tension to stay onsmaller or narrower heads), no little manual (which is the mic plug, which the phones?what about the in-line switch?), and, to top it off, my desktop, after a quicksetup of DNS with my stock mic, failed this one on the volume test (tried every comboof plugs and switches with and without USB) - then said it couldn't find the soundsystem! Re-plugged my old mic, no other changes, and dictated a perfect paragraph...so no fundamental problem with system. Boooo!!!!

Good buy good buy!PROS: Cheap, AWESOME for Price, Amazing sound quality, GOOD bassCONS: SHORT CORD, BEWARE, if you're like me and walk around while on skype and such, you will not go far!UPDATE: My second pair has broken, after intense gaming it came down to about 2 of these per year...Too expensive and the flimsly headband made me switch to a nicer, around ear plantronics. Great for the temporary user though!

I bought this headset because I was looking for a quality one-eared headset. The sound quality of the headset and the microphone are both very nice, and the 3.5mm to USB converter works like a charm.I have two complaints: -The headset's head band is not very secure in the socket, and feels like it wants to twist out. -The head band is smallish, hot quite fitting around my head.

It hurts when you use it for a long period of time, I bought this for use on World of Warcraft, and Ventrilo, and Skype, anything you can think of. It's a perfect headset despite the plastic over the ear fit. Noone's ever said I was too quiet on sound, nor' like i was screaming into the mic, perfect :). 4/5

I purchased this headset to use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Windows speech recognition. I've been using it for over a month with great success. Although I'm glad it comes with a USB adapter, I don't use it with any of my computers since it works great with all of the built-in jacks I've tried. I've transported a number of times and it's quite nice that faults up into a very small bundle not much larger than a mouse. This fold ability sometimes leads to a sloppy fit and some slipping, but once I get it positioned properly I can go for hours without adjusting it. It would be nice if the headset came with a small bag like my Logitech Bluetooth mouse. The size of the headset as well as the left-hand boom are adjustable enough but I imagine it would work for most people. My head is larger than average and I find it quite comfortable. It is incredibly light weight which is important if you intend to wear it for extended periods of time. The cord runs about 9 feet which is good since it allows for the option of limited movement and seating within a few feet. The in cord volume control and mute switch are handy, although I don't use them that frequently since I find it more convenient to disable my speech recognition via voice. I feel that this product is of sufficient quality that I should be able to get many years of use out of it and I highly recommend it.

Bought this product because I needed a headset the I could fold up and take with me from home to the office and on business trips. First time I opened up the package and tried to unfold, I snapped the head set in two because I didn't carefully look how to unfold it. My Bad.Got the same headset as a replacement. The sound quality is good all around. When I travel, I wrap the long cord around the folded headset. This worked great for a while. Then I started to lose sound in the left ear piece. Turned out the wire in the mute/volume switch came lose probably from constantly wrapping/unwrapping. This could not be fixed. Now I am deciding if I want to replace with the same or try something new.

These headphones work great with Dragon Naturally Speaking and for Skype phone calls. A couple of reviewers complain the cord is too long. It is long, but it allows me to sit back, relax and not be tied closely to the computer while I'm talking. Why would someone think that's a bad thing? The frame is made from light plastic. It looks like it might be fragile, but it isn't. And the lightness contributes to the comfort in using the headphones. I like them and would purchase them again.

I purchased this to replace the headphone/mic set that came with Dragon Speak 10, a speech recognition program. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this worked compared to the headphone/mic that came with the program, fewer errors and more comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a headset to work with this type of program.

I cant put up the microphone, I use a tie. The microphone and headphone sound quality no are the best comparable with the old Plantronics, like Audio 90.Spanish: No logra aguantar el microfono en su lugar, uso un lazo. La calidad del sonido del microfono y las cornetas no se compara con los viejos Plantronics, como el Audio 90.

I bought these to replace another Plantronics set that I broke. They sound decent (if a little tinny), and the microphone does what it needs to do.The microphone doesn't immediately stick out in front of your mouth, but you can bend it into shape as long as you don't care about sliding it back into the headphone band. I don't care to hide the mircophone, anyway. This set already has the "military chopper pilot" look, so you may as well complete it with the microphone.These headphones leak a bit more than the last set I used, so they're not useful for quiet listening when someone else is in the room. If you're trying to game at night without waking up the house, then they'll do. Overall it's a decent heaphone set for the price.

Note that this item is sold with and without the USB adapter. If you're using this for VOIP like I am, you probably will need the adapter between your soundcard and the headset. BUT you can get this at almost half off without the adapter. What to do? Buy the adapter at [...] for $[...], and you're still about $[...] ahead of where you'd be if you bought the item with the adapter. Excellent performance -- this, [...] are all you need for your small business communications if you have good bandwidth.

I've been looking for a good headset for Skype calls, and a friend recommended looking at Plantronics headsets. I own a Plantronics Bluetooth adapter for my phone and I've been very satisfied with it, so I took his advice and did some shopping. This headset performs very well - good sound and good voice recording. I like the long cord that comes with this headset, and it folds up in a small package (though this isn't one of the reasons I bought it). The only minor problem I had was out of the box, when I made a new user mistake: This headset comes with an adapter so you can use this mic/earpiece-corded set with a USB adapter, and both cords have to be firmly plugged into the adapter. I wanted to use the adapter, but I didn't push the cords in hard enough the first time, and I was puzzled why things didn't work right. DOH! Learn from my mistake.

For the price ($35) I expected better quality construction and better sound. The construction and durability seem low grade. The plugs don't make good connection to the UBS adapter; I have to play with the jacks, moving them in and out get a connection. The sound is OK but not good. My recommendation is don't buy these.

I needed a cheap headset/mic and this fit the bill. It's comfortable, the sound is very good, and the mic seems to work well. It feels like a more expensive product. I bought this after trying out a cheap Logitech headset, and there's no comparison...this blows it out of the water. Only reason I don't give it 5-stars is I get the feeling that the plastic making up the headset will fatigue and be prone to snap over time given the design. For the price though, this headset seems untouchable.

This is a good, basic headset. It takes a little while to get used to the behind-the-neck headband, but it doesn't muss your hair! The earpieces are NOT foam, so they won't fall apart after a period of time. Getting a comfortable fit and getting the mic in the right place took some time. For the price, this is a great value since the audio to USB adapter will work with any mic/headset combination. You can configure it as a second audio card.

Using the supplied USB dongle, the headset gets decent enough sound. I mainly use it for playing games with friends so I can't judge the sound quality based on music, but it accomplishes what I intended it to. The Supplied USB dongle worked out of the box with no drivers in both OS X and Windows XP which is always nice.The only gripes I have with this model is that the cord is just way too long and I often get it tangled up in the wheels of my chair. The other issues is that the build quality feels very fragile and cheap. I personally wish they used a stronger plastic for the frame as I feel the slightest mistake will cause them to crack.

I have always like the behind the head headsets better than the over the top kind. The other ones have typically lasted me about a year before the pads wear out or something just gives up and breaks. This headset fits well, sounds great, and the option of USB or .3mm makes it even better. I wanted to try out USB, but also wanted to be sure to be using my X-FI card (which is only used with the 3mm). Anyway, now I am strictly USB.Nice job on this headset Plantronics! From other experiences with Plantronics, I have found their customer service to be very good and they tend to stand behind their products. This means a lot to me.One thing I learned was that a USB headset when plugged in, will automatically switch the volume and mic to the headset from the speakers. In the past with 3mm I always had to have a switch and I know many have to unplug the other by climbing under the desk.

I use this product with Dragon Naturally Speaking software on a laptop. Technically the headset is excellent but I am a little concerned about the plastic parts that fold. They don't look substantial but so far have proved to be very durable. I regularly carry the headset in my backpack where everything is subject to stress and strain - so far nothing has broken. I have found the headset to be better than several non "portable" models. Certainly is much superior to the headset that comes with the software.

I use this headset when I'm on skype and my voice comes in clear and I hear the other person beautifully. One problem I do have is that it doesn't stay on my head that well but I think someone else used it and stretched it so sometimes it feels like its loose. But, nevertheless, I am very satisfied with this headset! Definitely recommend it!

I bought these based on other reviews and its price. Since having and using them for over 2 months now, I'm very satisfied. They sound very good, are very comfortable to wear, and the mic works very well. I use them to chat on MSN--still can't figure out the problem w/Skype--and help me w/my language course, work perfectly. The adjustable mic is an added plus. My only negative would be that they tend to pinch my ears after a prolong session of chatting, not sure if that's b/c they are new or designed that way. Overall, I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a solid pair of multimedia headphones at a VERY reasonable price.

Headset was good when it worked, although it was uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. Also, the ear covers fell off and were very difficult to put back on. I ended up breaking the headset when I trying to do this.

This is a great headset that works great on both Mac and PCs. That was an issue for me, since I switch back and forth.Got this primarily to use Skype. Sounds pretty good and is definitely as good as a telephone. This is not something you would want to record with though.I like this headset. I would get another one.

Was thinking this was a very good product (for speech recognition, Dragon Naturally Speaking) until it started dropping my voice on Skype calls intermittently and for no apparent reason. I hadn't damage the headset in any way (the wires aren't crimped and nothing was physically abused). Strangly enough, I can't get it to consistently fail by moving the headset/wires around. The voice signal has dropped even when I hadn't moved a muscle. Will be contacting Plantronics directly to see about an exchange. I purchased this back in November of 2008 and FWIW haven't used it more than four or five hours in total. I agree with the other reviewer that it is very flimsy-looking. And, in my experience, flimsy in reliably performing as well.

Been very frustrated with PC headsets, especially the mic, lately. Seems like every one I bought, the mic was terrible. everyone listening said my voice was either very low or 'in a tunnel'.alas, a mic that is about as good as it gets for this price. everyone says they hear me loudly and crystal clear. i love this thing. had it about a month now. if i had anything to critique, it may be that the mic is too sensitive. but his is easily adjustable.the mic boom is adjustable, the headset fits nicely.i use this headset for support calls so i use it about 2 hours/day. i currently use the USB adapter. i've not tried using the analog so i can't comment on that.i would definitely recommend this headset.

I really liked that this was only $30 and was targeted toward a laptop. Really, it could be used with a desktop too, but the fact that it is portable is nice. It has a nice USB adapter so you can use it for digital or analog. I've already used it with gotomeeting and to record a video for our in out board product, EIOBoard (www.eioboard.com), and it worked beautifully. The sound quality was excellent. For the support we do for our in out board product and our distribution product, this tool is going to come in very handy. I'm on here now to buy a couple more for our office. Some people complained a little bit about how it folded up and that it could have been a little stronger, but I think it's pretty solid, especially for $30 bucks.

I bought it and immediately used it for a 2-hour call on Skype, and everything worked great. The sound was great, and the microphone worked perfect. The person at the other end of the call said the audio quality was great.The headset was VERY comfortable, and I can't stress this enough. For my previous call I had used a pair of wireless headphones and microphone from a different company and my ears were aching really bad by the end of the 2-hour call. But this one felt so light and comfortable.I used the USB sound card, and I just plugged it and used it. Really simple. The USB card slots and the cables have clear markings for the microphone and the headset, so you don't have to guess. My only small complaint is that the band that goes on the head feels flimsy. If my 2-year old gets his hand on it, he could easily break it.

Pain in the rear to open the clamshell package (c'mon Plantronics, a cardboard box works fine), but a pleasure to use once it's finally out.No real instructions included, just a slip which shows a rudimentary diagram. No instructions needed on the Mac 'though, just plugged in the USB adapter and it worked perfectly. No drivers to download/install.Audio quality is good. I won't mistake these for the headphones I use in my recording studio, but more than necessary for using for VoIP (Skype & SIP). Comfort is very good. I almost don't notice I'm wearing it.I've paid far more for inferior headsets that didn't come with a USB adapter. This one does and is the best lightweight headset I've used.

This product really makes a big difference in Dragon speech, compared to the supplied mike. The rate of errors has been cut down considerably. I bought the laptop which folds, but I find the whole set up to be a little bit cheesy. The old saying goes "you get what you pay for."

Just like how everyone else warned me in their reviews, mic falls down. Didn't take long for it to start happening either. Headphones are large and make you look silly, but they don't touch your ears and are quite comfortable. Cord is nice and long.

This product was purchased as a birthday gift and was exactly what was expected. It works well...has cut down on the "yelling over the sound" on the computer and makes the interactive W.O.W. game even better.Recommend for households with lots of noise; cancels out all other sounds and makes for a more realistic play.

Not because they will swallow small pieces, but because the headphones are so weak structurally, that they won't stay in one piece very long. My two year old had them for literally 2 or 3 minutes before completely snapping them in half. Sure, the sound quality was great, but it doesn't matter if you can't put them on your head. On closer inspection, one of the most critical stress points of the phones is one of the weakest points structurally... the plastic thins out to two small strips.So, I would just beware that you have to be extra careful with these headphones if you want them to stay intact; I had to return the ones I bought and look for something a bit more reliable.

had dsp500 for 3 years now i have ha 2d pairs in the last 5 years as long as you dont play with the base settings or sit on your dsps they should be fine the first pair i owned i ripped the cord out by spinning around in my chair but other then that i give these head phones 20/10 love them will never go with sennheiser or anythign else

This is a great product that functions as advertised. I use them with Skype primarily, although they work great as headphones as well. The sound quality is good and those who I speak with through Skype have told me I sound great - just like I was on a normal land line.My complaints -1. The wire is way too long; I had not considered this factor when purchasing. Because I use this exclusively on my laptop, I only need about 3 feet of wire at the most, but the wire is probably around 8 feet long.2. I use this on the road, so I have to pack it up and carry it every day. The headphones do collapse, but with the 8 feet of wire and the collapsed size they are still fairly bulky. Even when collapsed they are a fairly rigid unit, making it difficult to stow and also making me concerned about them breaking in transit.I would recommend this to anyone who does not have to move the headset very often. Otherwise you might want to find something a little more compact.

I've had these for a few months now. I've been told that it's better to store the headphones on a hook, rather than in a drawer, so I hang them up on the chair in front of my computer. My son uses them too and I love how easily they adjust to our very different size heads (his is so big that usually he can't find headphones that fit!).I use Dragon 9 (a speech to text technology) and I went from store to store trying to find a cheap headphone that would work better than the ones that came with the program. Some only worked if my computer was running on battery, others didn't work at all. After a lot of wasted time and gasoline, I ordered these through Amazon, they came quickly, and they work! I haven't had any problems with them. I'm sure if I bought the $100+ headphone through Dragon as well as Dragon 10, it would probably be even better, but the more I train Dragon with these headphones, the better they work. All in all, I am more than pleased with these, especially with the great price I got!

This plantronics headset is a good deal for the money. It is comfortable, light and sturdy. It is used for a voice to print dictation system and is 1000 times better than the piece of junk that comes with the sytem. I think I paid $16 plus shipping on Amazon. It is probably not the best head set out there but is more than suitable for what I want and is rated highly for my voice to print softwear. Another bonus is that it covers only one ear so the other ear is free for a phone. I would buy it again.

The headset is sturdy enough-- don;t be put off by reviews that comment on how "fragile" it appears... whadaya gonna do, play football in it? BUT... we never could get it to work properly. Earphones seemed fine, mike never worked. I work for a tech company, so I took it with my laptop to work to be sure I wasn't doing something wrong in setup... my Tech Wizards confirmed there was something wrong with the mike in the headset. Returned it to Amazon, absulutely hassle-free return/refund... I did not order a replacement set as I could not wait... bought a different set from a local store.
